  • Hi could i ask you all what you eat though out the day when you are not fasting? Do you all eat full fat food and low fat food or only low fat of only full fat food but staying within your kcal allowance? I have read the book but it dont say clearly only to eat low fat food and also lots of low fat food are so high in bad sugar,so i was thinking if you eat full fat and low fat food though out the day and staying within your kcal allowance that you would then be alright and that way you wont end up with so much bad sugar. Hope you can help me with this question.

    Hi Pia,

Just eat normally, we eat and drink what we like on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Maybe a bit smaller portions and not too much alcohol, to what we had before the 5.2.

Monday Fast day, Tuesday and Wednesday we keep off sweets, cakes and biscuits and no alcohol, and small portions of food, Thursday Fast day. Keep to protein on Fast Day and off the carbs it helps to loose weight.

Back to three days what you want. Easy Peezy . Nice to have three normal days.

    Good Luck

Hi Pia, when I started 5:2 I didn’t believe it would work or be sustainable so back in June 2013 I stopped going to the gym. Started 5:2 and threw the weight watchers margarine in the bin. Bought real butter, started eating real cheese again and have still managed to lose 12 kg. over time 5:2 teaches you how to balance things. But it still feels like magic. Good luck with your journey.

Hi Thanks for your comments, the way you are doing it sound like a great way to do it, might try it myself.

I’ll second the full fat too. Butter, cheese, wholemilk and yoghurt – quite honestly, for me it’s a much better feeling to know what’s going into my body – I try to keep far from processed foods which is what the low fat stuff is really. I much prefer wholemilk yoghurt with real fruit 🙂
And, yes, as the others say, 5:2 works and it’s definitely like magic!! Good luck!

Full fat definitely. Naturally low fat foods – fine – but I would definitely steer clear of anything with fat removed and replaced with thickeners and sugars eg yogurts, go for things that are in their most natural, unprocessed state as possible. It’s amazing how difficult it is to buy a full fat yogurt though, at least 90% are low fat – yuk 🙁

StraR- I can’t find any yogurt that’s not low fat, either.

Hi all and thanks again for all your inputs. Regards full fat yogurt there is muller corners or you could make your own yogurt as i do and you can make it as full fat as you want it and it is very tasty. I myself love full fat butter and i do use it alot when i cook.

Well, I am not eating full fat, but then I haven’t for a long time. My opinion is, if you can save yourself some calories here and there it might be helpful for something that tastes great and has too many calories. I don’t taste a huge difference between full fat or 0 fat greek yoghurt, but then…this might be just me.
    Stef.

    Agree with Stef.

I love plain yogurt and every week I buy Sainsburys Basics low-fat yogurt, not those fruity, price-enhanced ones. Costs a heady £0.50 per 0.5L. Bargain ! It’s like having cream with everything without the guilt.

Hi again – re the wholemilk yoghurt, I use Yeo Valley. Actually, I use it as a starter to make my own with longlife wholemilk.
