Hi All,
I just started the 5:2 last week, I still haven’t seen the documentary but a friend raved about it and I thought I’d give it a try – only after I read the book from start to finish!
I’m 34 years old and was slim (UK size 8-10) up until I turned 25. Having lived on my own for a while and being super lazy, I lived on takeouts and meals out for over a year. My weight slowly crept up and before I knew it I was over 12 stone. I’ve tried Weight Watchers a few times and whilst I lost weight (I once got down to 10 stone) it eventually crept back on.
I was 12 stone, 8lbs when I started the 5:2 last week and after one week, I currently weigh 12 stone, 4lbs. I’m absolutely delighted with myself! I found the first fast day really hard, purely because I wasn’t very busy in work but the second day of last week seemed a lot easier and I didn’t even notice it yesterday. I started with a personal trainer four weeks ago, working out twice a week, and I found that I had a lot more energy during our sessions last week. Even my trainer noticed the difference. I fast on a Monday and Wednesday and work out on a Tuesday and Thursday.
I got a bit of a fuzzy head on the fast days but I believe I’m not drinking enough water throughout the day. Apart from that I have no other complaints. I was really surprised to find that I wasn’t ravenous after a fast day, I expected to eat my way through the contents of my fridge but its not the case at all.
Fingers crossed the weight loss continues! I don’t plan on weighing myself again for another two weeks, I’d rather not get caught up on what the scales say as it has disappointed me in the past.
