  • Hi, I am new from Australia 🙂

I’m Carley, I am 30 year so old. I am married and have 2 beautiful children. I wanted to try this because I want nothing more than to be healthy. Over the years I have lost the ability to listen to my body. I want to learn to be able to learn to listen to my body, to reconnect with it. I also need to lose some weight, so that would be a huge bonus.

I’ve rad the FAQ but how do you do the 5:2? What has worked for you?

    Carley

How do you do the 5:2 diet?

    Any advice?

I really need to lose 20 kilos (44lbs)

    Hi and welcome:

The diet is simple – for two days each week you eat 500 calories or less. For the other five days, you eat like you usually do.

Here is the information you need to get you started: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/warnings-to-newbies/

    Good Luck!

    Thank you for the link.

I am in no rush to lose weight, I’d like to lose the weight by end of the year, even if I didn’t lose that much any lose I would be over the moon about!!!

    My plan is this

    Fast days: Monday and Friday
Non fasting days is to eat 1600 calories. I go to the gym those days and burn about 400-500 calories.

    Does this look healthy?

You might wish to calculate how many calories you need on the non fast days. Go here http://thefastdiet.co.uk/how-many-calories-on-a-non-fast-day/ to calculate. 1600 calories is about what I have done this week, but I exercise 5 days a week. I haven’t been real consistent in my non fast days, as I want to eat everything in sight. I have lost the ability to listen to my hunger signs as well.

I am hungry every evening every day and have been for years.

You can purchase the book as well to have an idea of what to do.

Hello everyone. I hail from Ohio USA. I picked up a Fitness Magazine that had an article on 5:2 Fast Diet and instantly knew this was the way to go. I was already doing a modified eating pattern on my teaching days…
At the end of my second week, I feel leaner, scale hasn’t moved though…definitely more energy, have noticed I get “fuller” faster but my sweet cravings! Just plain terrible. I truly hope these seize soon…
I am a bit confused about something…the book states optimally to fast for 24 hours but Dr Mosley eats breakfast and then 12 hours later eats dinner…

I used the calculator it stated for my calories 2500. So I will aim for 2000 calories a day, because I know after exercise that will bring me down to about 1600 calories. The bmr is 1600 🙂

    Hi Mama5:

The term ‘fasting’ is used loosely. The way 5:2 is described in the book is you go to bed, get up in the morning and during your waking hours eat 500 calories or less, go to bed and wake up in the morning and eat as usual for the day. When you eat your 500 calories is up to you – 3 meals, two or one.

Many people don’t eat anything during the day, and if that is the case, they actually ‘fast’ from when they ate their last meal, through the next day until they get up the day after.

You will not lose weight consistently on any diet – here is how it worked for me on 5:2: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/really-no-weight-loss/

    Good Luck!

Hi and welcome to you both

wishing you luck on your journeys, plenty of support here and advice, good luck 🙂
