  • Hello everyone,
I am going to give the Fast Diet a go.I have already lost 2 stone on another well known diet regime but during Christmas I put on half stone and have been needing some sort of kick start as I have been struggling to shift the weight. I need to lose another stone and this seems to be what I have been looking for. Also, the other health benefits sound very appealing. I am going to have my first fast day tomorrow and I am quite looking forward to it. I have prepared the food I will eat and though I do realise it is not going to be that easy, as I have often read on this site and in the book, it is only one day. So wish me luck. x x.

    Hi and welcome:

Here are some tips for those just starting 5:2: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/warnings-to-newbies/

    Good Luck!

Hi Susie, I have been on the 5/2 diet since last August and have managed to lose over two stone. I was 15 stone and now weigh 12 stone 10 pounds. I have know got to a point were I look forward to my fast days and I must say that it has got easier as time as gone on, I still have days when I get the odd headache but they soon pass. I can say with hand on heart that you will be amazed with the transformation over the coming months, not only with the weight loss but also with your own wellbeing.
What I like about this diet is if you have a bad day and have a laps it really does not matter, you just pick another day and it won’t make any difference to the out come. And unlike other diets you only have to think about it for two days out of seven. Happy days.
All the best with the diet, I know you’ll enjoy it as I do.
    Kind Regards
    Gilly

Hi Susie. I just started the 5:2 this week and today was my second fast day. My fast day earlier in the week was awful, but totally self-induced by eating the wrong thing at the wrong time! Today, I was much better prepared and although I’ve only eaten 3 pieces of fruit all day, and been for two separate runs and a walk, I’m still not really hungry. I’m sure I’ll enjoy the food I’m about to eat though. 😉

Like you, I had lost a couple of stone ‘dieting’ but the weight loss had ground to a halt after Christmas, so I decided to give this a try. I’m very excited for my first 5:2 weigh-in tomorrow. I’d be happy to be your 5:2 buddy, if you’d like one? We can support each other and compare notes on how we are getting on. Best wishes and I hope your first fast goes well tomorrow.

Hi Susie and welcome to the forums,

Already lots of good advice given, so i’ll just say good luck and please keep posting your progress, and happy fasting tomorrow!

welcome susie! Lots of support available here. 🙂

Thanks everyone. Doing well so far even though spent most of the day in hospital and now been given strong antibiotics(the ones you can’t drink alcohol with, aarrggh!!) So I don’t know how they will affect me. Anyway still up for it and let’s see what happens. Susie xx.

Oh no, I’ve just weighed after my second fasting day and I have put ON 3lb. What on earth could have gone wrong. I counted the calories religiously for the two days. I am so gutted. Any suggestions? Susie x.

    hi Susie

sorry you were disappointed with scales, that is why I stay AWAY from them lol!
please don’t despair because you have only just started so give it more time, 2 fasts just isn’t enough to make a huge difference yet, it takes a little while for the body to adjust!
maybe the antibiotics played a part I don’t know as am not medical expert..

hang in there and don’t forget to measure yourself! 🙂 x

Thanks Angie. I will keep at it. Hopefully it is those pesky antibiotics. I really want this to work not only as a way of losing weight but a lifestyle change too. Susie x.

Hi Susie. I find that I weigh more immediately after a fast day because I’ve taken in so much liquid. Personally I find the scales go down a day or two later. As Angie says measuring is an even better way to track your progress. In 6 weeks on 5:2 I’ve only lost a total of 4 lbs, but I’ve lost quite a lot of cms on waist, bust, upper arms, etc.

    Hi Billie,
thanks for comment. Have measured myself all over so hopefully that will make a difference. Have had to change my antibiotics too, as have had a few unpleasant side effects. Hopefully I will have better results next week because at the moment I am feeling pretty low. x.

Hello everyone, I am back again for another go. Course of antibiotics have finished and I am doing my first (again!) fast day today. I have my food for the day all sorted and I am feeling positive. Sun is shining here in sunny Barry, what can go wrong. Susie xx.
