Hi
I’ve been reading up, and looking into the 5:2 diet for a while, because I really need to lose some weight (3 kids in the last 14 years, quit smoking 7 years ago and never dealt with subsequent weight gain). I have 3 generations of family behind me who have died with diabetes and heart disease, cancers, etc. So I really need to accept that I am far too overweight and have to tackle this for the sake of my children.
Sooo… I had a lung function test about 5 weeks ago, and when I was weighed, I was horrified to discover that I was 14st 2oz. I bit the bullet, started by cutting portion sizes and not eating after 4pm (primarily to help control gastric reflux). Two weeks ago I started 5:2, and have moved up to 4:3 this week. I’m having no trouble sticking to it, as I’m a pretty busy Mum with a child with special needs and a physically disabled husband.
I can SEE the results, and I feel pretty good. I jumped on my doctor’s scales yesterday, and discovered that I am down to 13st 9oz. So its working!
I don’t do much exercise tbh, apart from what is involved in pushing a wheelchair, lifting, etc. So I am due to start at Gymophobics on Friday, visiting 3-4 times a week.
I would love to see a size 10 back in my wardrobe, for pure vanity, but more importantly I want to be healthy again.
There are lots of really positive threads here, you have me inspired!
Carmen
