  • Hi all,

I started 5:2 back in October and have so far lost a stone (14lbs). My progress was halted by me taking up a 7 week Christmas contract which was mainly 12 hour days on my feet for most of the day. I’ve been back on the wagon now for two weeks and am taking it more seriously than I did pre-Christmas. I had developed some truly awful habits; the worst of which included drinking a lot of wine – on a fast day too! No wonder my progress was so slow. I’ve got about a stone and a half to go and finally feel that I have the resolve to achieve the loss.

Ten years ago I qualified as a personal trainer and had my own mobile business. Life then rained an awful lot of poo on my family which forced me into giving up my fledgling business (my biggest regret) and taking up a more lucrative office based position. This I truly hated and sought solace in chocolate and wine; never a good idea! I was so down and stressed that I totally went off the gym and took interest in very little outside of my children’s activities. Although things improved for us a couple of years later, I was left with my weight gain as a hangover from our past problems. With renewed confidence and a much more positive outlook, I am planning to start the PT business again as soon as I’ve shifted this weight.

Any support here would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks and good luck everyone. This is a great diet (minus wine on a fast day!!)

    Ali 🙂

Good for you Ali – you seem to have your head screwed on correctly so nothing to say but get on with it then 😉

    Good luck hon

Hi Ali and a big welcome back from me too to 5.2!!

I will second TracyJ and say you know what to do, so lets fast!!!!

good luck on your new life journeys, wishing you all the best 🙂

Thanks for your replies ladies! I am disappointed to report a gain of 1.5lbs despite sticking to the diet religiously and exercising like a demon! Hopefully it’s just a temporary blip. On the plus side, friends and family think I look slimmer. I just hate those flipping scales!!

    hi Ali43

please do not beat yourself about that gain, as you say you are looking slimming which tells me you are probably loosing inches, which is lovely!!

try measuring yourself and you’ll see 🙂 also when exercising you build up muscle which is heavier than fat, sod’s law uh!!

    keep at it 🙂

Thanks Angie, I guess I’d hoped for a big loss this week. I haven’t weighed for a fortnight and because I’ve got a fair bit to loose, I expected to see the numbers go down at this stage.

I reckon I need to pay more attention to what I’m eating on my non-fast days. I’ve cut out chocolate, crisps and all other processed carbs. Maybe I just need to restrict my meal sizes a little more. I can safely say I know what it feels like to be hungry. Before I started 5:2, I never let myself get hungry because I was stuffing in no end of food!!

    Ali

    Aww Ali!

it takes time, I was just wondering, did you check your TDEE? its the amount of cals you should consume on non fast days, if you haven’t already done so and apologies if you have!! there is tool in the “how?” section top of the page which will calculate this for you 🙂

believe me I am hungry now, am fasting and I would be quite happy to eat everything on sight right now haha!!
    hang in there 🙂

Yes! Apparently I can munch my way through 2156 calories on a non-fast day! I’m going to keep a log of everything I eat and drink over the next week. This is something I really didn’t want to have to do, having already cut out the rubbish carbs but if it makes me more mindful, I guess it can’t be a bad thing. I’ve just been out in the woods in the mud with my dog. You can barely get to power walk speed for slipping!

    Thanks for your support. X
