Hi everyone I am new to this forum and just signed up yesterday, I’m a 48 year old male from the panhandle of Florida in the USA. Last year at this time I was breaching 600 pounds and my weight was causing me all kinds of problems, walking from one end of the house to the other was a struggle and I could barely drive. I lost my job as an IT professional in 2012 because my bosses didn’t like me because of my weight, and have been unable to find a new job since. At the beginning of 2013 I decided enough was enough and got myself a doctor quality scale and decided my weight was going down hell or high water, I lost about forty pounds on my own just cutting out the big evils such as fast food, soda, pizza, alcohol, etc. Had some health issues that landed me in the hospital, and after recovery was beginning the diet again when around the end of July I saw Dr. Mosley’s fasting documentary on PBS, and it really lit a fire under me. I was looking for a solution that would work for me, and this seemed like the perfect plan as it was so simple in its design. Within a week of viewing the program I tried my first fast, and it wasn’t as horrific as I anticipated. So I kept at it over the next few weeks and once I got a good routine down I lost almost 30 pounds rather quickly, then right at the beginning of October I was struck down with Shingles and I decided to lay off while I recovered from that. I gained back some of what I lost over the holidays but as of this week I am starting the fast diet again, I fasted on Monday and planning to do the next one Saturday. I have a new resolve to make it make this weight loss work this time, I already feel so much better from what I have lost already. I’m determined that I will never to back to the 600 pounds that I weighed a year ago, I began a blog last year that I will be documenting my progress throughout the year on. I also plan to write a bunch on this forum to learn from ya’ll and also share what I learned from my previous attempt, I found the fast diet was almost magical in how it helped curve my hunger cravings before and that is what most of us morbidly obese people really struggle with. Sorry for writing a mini novel but I look forward to interacting with everyone here over the next several months!
