  • Hello fellow fasters!

I am a 31 year old female who has gained weight since I was 25 and according to my BMI – I am obese. I excercise – i did a half marathon recently and I try to eat well and only eat treats at weekends. Nothing i’ve ever tried has worked. I am wonder is there anyone else out there who is about 5 foot tall and started this diet weighing about 158lbs? i would love to know if its working for you and any tips are much appreciated.

I started this monday a week ago did 2 fast days (mon & thurs) last week and tried to stick to 1200kcals or less most other days. then I am trying 3 fast days this week Mon, tue & thurs. I was 158lbs starting off and I weighed in yesterday morning at 152.5lbs – however I reckon that will go back up when i weigh in again tomorrow.

I’d love to hear from others who are similar height weight – or anyone at all with advice!

    Thank you

    Aoife

    Hi Aoife and welcome:

Unfortunately, short women have very low TDEEs making it harder than normal to lose weight (and easier to gain). You should expect no more than around a half pound loss per week. It becomes a mental challenge to continue when weight loss is so slow, especially when it also is not consistent, meaning you may go a week or two sometimes without losing anything. But if you just keep going, you will lose!

Here are some tips that may help – the thread will answer most of your questions: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

    Good Luck!

    Hey Aoife!

I’m 4″11 and currently weigh 152lbs wondering how you’re getting along? Today is my first day and looking for inspiration/help anywhere I can get it?

How has it been for you going into your second/third week? Would love to hear as we seem very similar!

@simcoeluv – thanks very much for the link – its really good

@gracielou – I am on my 3rd week now and I had a very good first 2 weeks. I find the fast days are actually very easy with the foods I have made so far. The first day is the hardest. I did Monday & Thursday my first week and Monday & Tuesday last week (that was much harder – but I found it better). I am down 8lbs but it could be water loss. I would expect no loss this week. I have started back running today – i aim to run min 5k 4 times this week before work! I’m hoping that will kick start greater weight loss.

The food I made for fast days the last two weeks were crammed full of veggies! they are the key to keeping hunger at bay – you can eat a pretty big meal with lots of veg. So I made a kind of quinoa stirfry. Use 1 calorie spray and non-stick pan – chop up lots of carrots, peppers, spinach, onion, garlic, chilli – any vegetables you like! try pick different colours it looks more appealing and add cooked quinoa at the end. This week i bought lots of different veg – brocolli, carrots, shallots & mushrooms and cooked them with a stock cube in boiling water – its a delicious veggie stew! its incredibly low calorie and I’m stuffed after a big bowl of it. I also try to stick to 1200kcals or less on non-fast days mid week! so i may go over @ the weekend but i try not to. The odd bad day i’m sure would be ok – especially if you’re exercising. I know that 1200kcals is all I am supposed to eat for my small height and its not all that much so I choose lots of different veg and make amazing omelettes on non-fast days. they are packed full of goodness and as long as you go very easy on the cheese they’re healthy!

I like to think of this as a new way of life – i hate the word diet! please keep in touch and let me know how you’re getting on! I hope we are both very successful and have our ideal weights in time!
