Good afternoon everyone Xxxx
A much brighter day here with some attempt at sunshine..
On holiday now till Monday morning just doing basic chores.
This mornings weigh in have lost a pound this week.. So just one to go to pre Xmas weight. Yay.
Soo pleased my sweet cravings have gone after stopping wine.. Its always hard initially as you have to replace the sugar that you miss in the wine.
That’s it now back to coffee drinking..
Day 26 no alc
Dave.. You have lost a brilliant amount of weight .. Sometimes its just harder to concentrate with circumstances…. Denise not being well then all the roof hassle.. So cut yourself some slack as you know you can it. you have.
Nana .. Are you out lunching today.
H H .. Your mum sounds good just some blips that you and your sis can cope with living near by. Mum will be better and happier in her own home better for you too to know she is ok. .xx
Sym.. Have a wonderful time leave everything at the door close and just go and enjoy yourself .. Have a wonderful trip. We will be waiting to drool over the lovely food lol. Xx
Enjoy your afternoon all… Happy Valentines Day. Xxxx
Afternoon All..
Bathroom finished and very pleased with it… I shall shower at the hotel so everything can dry off..
All packed and ready to go, just to get changed and sort hair and makeup out. I have to be ready for 4pm.. going to hotel then early flight in the morning 6.45am.
I shall be back 22nd.. I will be on and off depending on WiFi.. I need to be in port.
Hemmy..
Lots of memories to keep us going, strange how sometime it hits you .. lots of hugs.
Crockpot sounds nice..
Hedgehog..
Glad you have a way to go with mum, it does get difficult…such a lot of problems when you get people doing jobs.. no wonder people leave things and then don’t bother…
Dave..
Lots of decorating to keep you busy.. I am thinking about it!
Speak when I can..

Good afternoon everyone sunny day today. Find it difficult at the moment to concentrate on losing weight.I have lost 1.5 stone since I started at MoreLife, but it’s getting harder. Only two more visits there then it’s all over. Got to decide what to do then. Lots of decorating to do. Every room in the house except the toilet. So hope Chloe dosent get paint all over her.
Day 14 – USA/GA – NFD
Weigh-in: 237 lbs. I can’t believe I’ve got more respiratory crud again! Coughing and sniffling. A little better this morning after some cough syrup. Maybe it’ll stay that way before my dental cleaning.
Day 14 ❤ – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD 71 kgs
Friday morning PFDS! I’m starting to get the hang of this fasting business, after nearly 11 years 💪 🎯
@ccco – you’re hilarious! 🤣 I promise you – Canada will never become the 51st state. And you won’t be deported. But, if worse comes to worst, Boo Boo says she doesn’t mind sharing her room with you. We’ve got millions of illegal Zimbabweans here already, so one more won’t make a difference 😅
@lilymartin – don’t ‘exercise like crazy’. Read this article from Time Magazine – Why You Shouldn’t Exercise to Lose Weight’. And focus on what you’re eating + FDs. Maybe try using the spreadsheet to plan your FDs?
https://time.com/6138809/should-you-exercise-to-lose-weight/
A few of us are going to ‘Off the Hook for a Valentines Day lunch. Not sure why; we’re all either single or widowed. Any excuse for an outing, I guess
Happy Fri-yay! 🍹
Thanks Neil, I called in at the supermarket after my appt, but they were down to the last few cartons of eggs, and all the super expensive ones. Hopefully I will get lucky next shop.
Afternoon Cinque, the eggs can sit in the marinade for a few days in the fridge. I boiled 6 of them and ate a couple a day for the next few days.
Good morning everyone,
Gday, hooray for a contained fire and a nice cool week. Enjoy that fast!
That Dr Lyon sounds interesting.
(I have just finished this morning’s coffee and wishing I could have it all over again).
Neil, I am not surprised you were exhausted at the end of that ride! Hooray for all the good things you are doing for your health young man 😉
Your new snack sounds really delicious. I plan to try eggs one that way now! Could you boil a few and then keep them in the marinade for a few days til they are all gone?
Thin, wow! You have been busy. Lovely to know you are in the country, even if there are strange changes to get used to. And hooray the storage is less than you feared. That is wonderful.
Say hello to King’s Park from me.
Quacka woot for rocking those fast days! All power to you.
(The weather was terrible for me the last couple of days but I love the forecast for the week ahead.)
Best wishes for managing the work busyness and lots more good fast days.
Anzac, your weather craziness has been on the news here (while Gday’s fire didn’t crack a mention). I am so glad you have the AC when you need it.
Fingers crossed for that job possibility.
Cali, I am so GLAD to hear from you and to know you are reading our posts even if you don’t manage to write. I have just realised the time, so I must stop and prepare for an appt. But sending you a million good wishes until I write again.
Lindsay, have a great time in Bali!
Cheers all.
Morning all
Gday, well done on the fast so far, keep up the good work. Fingers crossed that the fire is under control now. Talking about muscle building, I was talking with a young German couple at Lawrence when I did my ride and told them I’d ridden 100k to get there. The guy was saying that it’s the best thing you can do for your old age to build up your legs when you’re younger. I agreed and told them that a recent study released over here had shown that if you’re a male over 50 and riding your bike to work every day you lower your chance of cancer by 40% and diabetes by 45%. He said “Well, you’re there already, but much younger.” I was thinking “not that much younger, I’m turning 47 this year.” But I was pretty chuffed, I don’t know how old he thought I was.
Quacka, great work on losing 2.3 kilos, that’s an amazing result, especially as a percentage of your weight.
Lindsay, I really hope you have a great time in Bali
Have a great weekend everyone.
Day 14 NFD country west Australia 83.3 kgs
We don’t actually celebrate it but for those who do – Happy Valentine’s Day.
Well done North Georgia. Keep up the good work.
@funshipfreddie, good luck with this lizard. Sounds lovely.
Cruella is being very mean despite no grog, no chocolate, fewer carbs and exercising like crazy.
I can’t fit much more exercise into a day at present with walking, weights, work etc !
Off for my first walk of the day with a new dog we have. Certainly uses up a few calories trying to control an excited and excitable puppy !!
41 hours into my fast (just water, organic green tea and organic black coffee and daily electrolytes) and all going well. Felt a bit hungry last night at bedtime but a glass of water curbed the hunger.
My daily coffee intake has been creeping up lately so I’ve cut back on coffee this week to just one small stovetop coffee each morning around 9am. When I get up at 5.30am I have a large pot of organic green leaf tea to start the day.
I’m reading a great book at the moment by Dr Gabrielle Lyon called Forever Young about protein intake and building muscle mass as we age. I’ve listened to a lot of her podcasts before which was what got me interested in the book – it’s a good read so far, very informative.
The fire is still burning but is within containment lines so fingers crossed. Last night is the first night in 11 days that we haven’t seen any fire burning on the hilltops. Nice cool weather for the next week, low 30s but variable winds which may make containment difficult.
I had a cheese and onion toastie,I did eat it all but not in a rush to have it again. Chloe had all her food at 11pm. Then whined for chews at 11:45🤪😝.
We had chicken stew for tea Chloe as got a tin of tuna and her kibble, not had it yet she’s next to me on the sofa. Cold today only 2°C now.
Evening!
Jean- must be a tricky job doing plumbing, when things go wrong, we always feel for our plumber as the houses here are so tricky, all built with American pipework, not UK! Exciting going on your cruise, hope it’s lovely! No, Mum wouldn’t be happy going in a home, she’s not ready for that yet, doesn’t really need carers yet I don’t think, needing a bit more help hopefully…when she’s in her usual routine it’s not so bad, but anything different throws her!
Dave- not used to dogs not eating, so strange!
Hemmy- 🤗hugs for you, lots of happy memories, must’ve been lovely to have that break to look forward to at this time of year…I’ve not heard of hotels doing a timeshare before! My nan & grandad had one in Spain. Enjoy your Crockpot meal, we’ll done keeping off the alcohol!
Nana- hope you’ve had a good day out, did you see your Auntie today? Nice you can help your daughter out with her flat, you must be missing her…
Chilly and grey here again, where is the sun?! Have just had the one meal today, did some fiddly cleaning jobs, like cleaning the uplighter shades. Thrilling day! I was very chuffed with my teeny hoover attachments 😂
USA. Day 13. OMAD FD
FUNSHIPFREDDIE, I actually understand what Trump is trying to do. We currently have a law that says if I am born here, even if my parents weren’t, he doesn’t want what we used to call, tourist baby births. Pregnant mothers would come here from other countries to have their. babies, so they could claim their babies were born U.S. citizens. 60 Minutes did a piece on that years ago because the Chinese have set up maternity hospitals in California explicitly for that purpose. Those Chinese who utilize these facilities are not poor. They pay quite a bit for this service. Their intent is for their babies to be dual U.S. and Chinese citizens. They opens a lot of doors for their children here both for our education system and job market. Most others are simply looking for a way to claim U.S. citizenship for their children, so that later their children can stand for them to become U.S. citizens when the children are older. That would be an example of birth right citizenship. My father became a citizen when he was a boy, along with his parents. That should automatically make me a citizen. Trump wants to end birthright citizenship and I could get caught in that. I am thinking it won’t but in any case, I should be able to prove my father became a citizen and I am not just a citizen by birthright. This is all very strange to me. I would say I could go to Canada but as Trump has said he wants to make Canada the 51st state, I guess I couldn’t go there, either! LOL I guess I will have to live in the airport like Tom Hanks!!

Have a lovely day, everyone!
Good afternoon everyone. Xxxx
It s a cold grey day again..at least no ice and snow.
I always feel sad this week of the year as Andrew and I had had a week s timeshare at the Devon Court Hotel in Exmouth .. lovely room over looking the sea and wonderful out of season.. We did that for 21 yrs.. Always lovely to look forward to after Xmas. Sad but wonderful memories. X
Croc pot on and smelling warm and wonderful .. Chicken breasts .bacon and loads of veg and herbs.
Day 25 no Alc
Dave.. Yes I would like to try those butterbeans I am curious now as I have never thought about them . What are you cooking up today… I hope its something that Chloe approves of lolol
H H .. Good to get your Mum sorted .. less stress for all of you.
Nana .. How is your day going.
Sym… Will it all be finished today.. Lovely when you can just think of your holiday.
Enjoy your afternoon everyone. “Every day is a chance to begin again.” Xxxx

Day 13 – USA/GA – ZBC
Weigh-in: 235 lbs. Well, that’s good — matching a last weigh-in in late January. I’d love to make today a FD, but I forgot I am interviewing a candidate today, and one person on the interview panel takes it personally if we don’t have lunch. Obviously, food is very psychological with her. She doesn’t eat much, and she just tosses what’s left over. I could never do that. I could take the food with me, but if I’m hungry and it’s hot, I should eat more than two bites 🙂

@brightonbelle – enjoy the show! I loved the movie version. A great soundtrack too.
@stitchincarol – my neighbour said if I was making it for her, she’d be happy to have the repaired lizard. But it’s for her daughter’s birthday (not til June!) & it’s going to New Zealand, so I understand why she wants it to be top notch. When I got to the class the other day, Natalie was admiring the lizard. I told her I’d grown quite fond of it & I’d be sorry to hand it over. And then an hour later – kapput. So I guess it was meant to be?! The guy who makes all her wooden templates etc is going to fix it, & I already know where I’m going to put it.
@excelsior12309 – there’s no rushing mosaicking. I think that’s partly why it’s so relaxing.
@ccco – I’m SURE you won’t be kicked out of the USA! You were born there, & you must have a birth certificate to prove it? Where would they send you to, anyway? You’d have to wander around an airport for the rest of your life, like Tom Hanks in the movie ‘The Terminal’ 😳 Congrats on the 3 lb⬇! 🥳
@molij, @iona72 – hang in there! Your spring is just around the corner. Our days are already getting noticeably shorter in the southern hemisphere.

Day 13, OMAD, Aus
Checking in.
Fasting for the next few days, had my last meal ( salad and a smoothy) at 4pm yesterday arvo so hoping to go through to Saturday lunchtime.
The temp on my back verandah got to 48.2 yesterday at 4pm – has cooled down this morning.
Hemmy the butter beans in Sainsbury’s are with the tinned tomatoes and kidney beans, chicken peas. I’ll ask my son about Tesco he does.com there so knows every Isle. Chloe’s not had anything to eat yet today think it will be a late supper. She knows she dosent get chews until her food as been scoffed.
Good Morning Everyone
Day after 2nd FD and feeling really good today. I have just had a big healthy breakfast of yoghurt, banana, hemp seeds and a little protein powder.
FD went well yesterday and today my weight actually reflects that. 77.6kg. That makes 2.3kg loss since Monday last week. Pretty happy 🙂
Not sure when real fat loss takes over from water weight loss but surely it must have started by now so I’ll take it.
Better start work now. Hope you all have a lovely, safe weekend xx
Day 12 North Wales NFD
I have been very busy again today 14500 steps done. I am really pleased with that. In the last 7 days I have done 83000 steps. Still battling the mole and the rats. They are particularly active this year. The rats don’t seem to want to take the poison much preferring our compost bins. Weather here has been very cold. The wind chill makes it seem even colder. Hoping to do some sewing tomorrow and then I am going to drive to Dolgellau to see my sister on Friday to have lunch and to collect some wood for burning on our log burner.
@jaifaim so sorry to hear about your Mum. Sending you much love. A very difficult time for you and your family.
@northgeorgia hope your Mum can find a pain treatment that works.
@brightonbelle I never used to eat breakfast. I do at the moment preferring to miss lunch. I have been a 2 meal a day person for years.
@ccco after reading about your iRobot I did a little research. I think that would be ideal for us to keep on top of the dog hair. Sorry to hear about your citizen problems. I truly do not understand why people get so stressed about citizenship. Isn’t Trumps wife an immigrant?
@iona72 I am hoping to do some childminding next week. My husband is trying to persuade me not too in case I catch COVID or a horrid cold before my operation resulting in it having to be postponed.
@merryapple hope the building work nearby gets finished soon.
@funshipfreddie I love meerkats. They have a lovely colony of them at Chester Zoo. Sorry to hear about your mosaic. I am sure you could have repaired it but like you I like the things I have made to be perfect too.
@lilymartin so sorry to hear you have possible heart problems. Stay strong and I hope you lose the 10kgs quickly.
@excelsior12309 wow that’s a lot of snow. It has been years since we had any decent snow.
@stitchincarol sorry to hear you have had Strep. Hope you feel much better soon.
Hope everyone has a good day
USA. Day 12. FD
Jaifaim, I am so sorry about your mom. She will be in my prayers! 🙏 I understand what you are going through. I slept in the hospital in a chair next to my father for two weeks until he passed. I didn’t want him to be alone, as my mother had already passed away a few years earlier. I am so glad I had that chance and I know how happy he was when I stayed with him. I can imagine how happy your mom is, too, that you are there.
FUNSHIPFRDDIE, I am so sorry about the broken leg on your mosaic. I hope you can find a way to reattach it. Also thank you for telling me about the meerkats. I love learning about the strange creatures that live in other parts of the world.
BrightenBelle, have fun on your outing! I love the theatre and have been on visits to London.
Stitchincarol, I just dug myself out of the snow yet again this morning. I can’t believe that we might be having more snow here in the middle states than you are! Where is Summer?? I am waiting! Also, your quilts sound lovely!
Now I am trying to figure out a new Trump issue that relates directly to me regarding a new bill he is trying to pass in the House and Senate. My father came to this country from Ireland with my Grandparents and my aunt as a boy. When my grandparents became citizens, so did my father and aunt. That is how it works here. My father fought in U.S. Army Air Force during WWII, yet during the McCarthy era in the 1950s, my father had to prove his was a citizen and not a communist all over again and regain his citizenship, despite his War history. Now I will most likely have to fight that battle again. If this new bill passes, I will have to prove my father was a citizen all over again in order to prove I am a citizen, which is absolutely crazy. Trump’s own mother was an immigrant from Scotland. We definitely have our problems here these days. Ugh!
Anyway, here I am on the pocket list again today.

My diet is working very quickly. I knew I was gaining water weight very quickly and I have also finally managed to eliminate most salt, something that is hard to do, since salt is in everything. I am 3 lbs. down! Yay!
Hope everyone is having a good day!
Evening All…
Bathroom should be finished tomorrow… hell of a job with the toilet, thought we might need a new loo plus cistern, difficult to buy as fitted in a unit.. I always seem to have problems things never seem to go right. He has messed about with new fittings but ended going back to the old fitting and cleaning it up.. 🤞🏻 it’s is fitted and working he will check tomorrow..
Nana..
Glad you had a nice time away.. it’s nice your daughters found a place to live, it will make her more settled.
Dave..
Taxi driver now! Hope your game went well. I shall start again after holiday.. must push myself to go…
Hemmy..
Haddock and chips for us tonight absolutely tasty.
I be will be glad when I am straight again. Mr Grumpy was saying his friend had died, he softened a bit, he seems fine if you get him chatting. He wants to retire but can’t afford to.
Hedgehog..
Have a nice night with your son. Do you think your mum is still managing on her own? Would she go in a home. It’s nice you are both so close.
Fasting finished now until after holiday..
Have a nice evening..

Quick post, son is popping in for dinner although has just rung to say there’s a hold up ahead…doing toad in the hole for him & hubby. Did our shopping today, Mum gave me a big long list, sis & I will make sure we insist on helping her do her order online in future, she doesn’t like doing it or coming shopping with us so puts it off. I got the ball rolling today to activate the LPA, it’ll take a few weeks, haven’t told her yet but she was happy for me to take her card to get cash out for her. Feels a big step 😢
Dave ..
That reminds me where are butter beans situated in the supermarkets. I looked in Tesco in the tinned veg section and baked beans and couldnt find any at all. . Will try local Coop..
Ohh Re cheese I couldnt live without it eat it every day. Had Brie for lunch today lol.
Back from bowling was rubbish today, Having cottage pie and butter beans for tea. Have you tried yours yet Hemmy?I might try the cheese tomorrow. Will have a cheese and onion toastie. Could end up in the bin. It’s been a miserable day here and cold eventually there rain came so we called it a day but still had a couple of hours bowling. Just said to Chloe are we going, she usually jumps up but just lifted her head then went back to sleep. I don’t think it would bother her if we never went out.
Good afternoon everyone. xxx
Another dark cold day here.. some sunshine would be lovely.
A good walk .. regular dog walkers are few on the ground now.. I miss some of our old walking friends 4 legged and two lol. Some have moved from the village.. and dogs have passed on.
I have only just had lunch as I came back from walking and decided to clean and hoover upstairs. So I am not sure what to have for dinner later, Maybe just scrambled eggs on toast.
Day… 24 no Alc.
Dave.. At least you will be warm for bowling.. Have you tried that cheese yet lol..
Nana .. Enjoy your 2 glasses of wine.. Trouble with me is I will drink half a bottle ..it slows me down.. so better off having none at all. .
H H ..How is your day going.
Sym… Glad the work is nearly done.. A bit annoying to have a Mr Grumpy especially seeing you are paying him… Things are so different these days with trades.
Enjoy your afternoon everyone. All progress takes place outside the comfort zone.” Xxxx

Day 12 – Rural Nebraska, USA – NFD
We have snow!!! Like, scoopable snow, two inches so far, but it’s still snowing. NOW it feels like winter.
@jaifaim The final watch and wait can be so difficult. Hugs to you as you stay near your mom and surround her with love.
@lilymartin Oh, that’s scarey, isn’t it? Keep checking in here and you’ll find your peeps cheering you on!
@penz Yeah, it took the Eagles’ third string to allow the Chiefs to look normal. That was sad…
Oh, NO! @funshipfreddie! How absolutely frustrating!!! But, as to making another, do you really WANT another? Because, one, it strikes me that it’s possible it’ll be fixed enough to be entirely fine, and two, I doubt you’re being paid enough for your time to justify a second one. So are you sure??? Regardless, you sure have my sympathy!
@brightonbelle Have a lovely time on your adventure to London!
@iona72 a four week cough??? You poor thing; that’s tedious to deal with!
@excelsior12309 Now that’s a lot of snow! How much is normal for your area? The doctor I saw said the same thing about strep not being normal in adults; I didn’t know that, as I’ve gotten strep every three or four years for decades, and so it’s my norm, LOL. I’m thankful I got meds before it got as painful as it can, and I’m pretty much fine now.
@northgeorgia Well done on maintaining even while not fasting; that’s true success.
I finished the binding on all 24 feet of the t-shirt quilt yesterday, so now I need to pack up both quilts and send them to their destinations. Feels good to have that done!
Have a grand one, everyone!
Day 12 – USA/GA – FD
Weigh-in: 237 lbs. Today should be a true FD500/800. It has been a crazy week and keeps getting more insane. But I’ve done good on the consecutive NFDs, keeping weight stable…I’m actually down a pound from the last several days, and it’s the same as my last post-FD weigh-in. So, I’m feeling good going into today.

WElllll it snowed about 9 or ten inches here yesterday, so things are at a halt. Office is closed. It should warm up a bit today into the low 40’s, so perhaps some will melt. We have had a lot of snow this winter!
@jaifaim, so sorry about your mother. She is lucky to have you nearby.
@stitchincarol, I think it is very youthful of you to have strep throat. We don’t see it much in adults, to be honest. Interesting about your low snowfall where you live; you can have some of ours!!!
@funshipfreddie, how aggravating about your artwork. Perhaps you will zip through the second edition, now that you know how to do it!
@brightonbelle, sounds like a lovely trip ahead of you.
@ilona72, the dreary stretch of weather can really affect your mood and motivation, can’t it?
Have a good day, all.
Hi,
After many years of yo-yo dieting and in the verge of having surgery, I have decided to give this a go.
I am in the UK. Age 59 and due to turn 60 this year and as such would like to be slim again.
This is more about gaining control over binge eating for me.
Good morning everyone bowling later, I’m the driver today so I have 2 to pick up then drive to the green. Three of us take it in turn to drive when they season starts and also for winter bowling. It’s dry at the moment it’s 4°C so not very warm. My hand warmers are fully charged. I’ll get the thermals out as well.
Day 12 NE England IF 16:8
Another dreary, miserable day here, stuck with Anticyclonic gloom, not seen sunshine for too long.
The last day or 2 have really tested my willpower but I need to get the momentum of Oct/Nov going again.
Scale down a couple of ounces- pathetic desperation I know!!
@jaifaim hope your Mum is doing ok and can improve soon, difficult time for you I’m sure.
@northgeorgia yes its tough trying to find a solution that fits into your lifestyle but 8pm is still a good plan.
@stitchincarol get well soon, I’m still fighting my 4 week cough!
Morning everyone, it’s a dull cold one hereand will need to wrap up warm for my ride on Geraldine today.
A lovely time away for OH’s birthday and I had gained a pound of the two pounds that I’d lost when I weighed myself on Friday morning. No more trips away now until 6th March so need to knuckle down until then.
Hedgehogs a worry for you with your mum.My daughter seems to be getting herself organised in Castleford she’s still staying with her friend at present but has a flat lined to move into the beginning of next month it’s unfurnished so will need to sort out furniture for it luckily she’s got the bank of mum and dad to help as we’d rather she has the money now than after we’ve gone. Castleford is a two and a half hour drive from here so not to bad considering our drive to Lowestoft takes us just over two hours.
Jean hope you’re getting back to normal in time for your cruise. Your plumber sounds a right miserable man.
Dave just try the cheese you might be surprised and like it.
Hemmy well done on no wine drinking, wish I could be as disciplined but I do enjoy my two glasses of wine on our Wednesday lunch meet up.
Hope everyone else not posting is keeping well.

Day 12 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD
Disaster at the mosaic class. I was just finishing grouting the enormous lizard for my neighbour. I lifted it by one of the legs to sweep away the dried grout, & the leg broke off?! I could’ve cried, it’s taken me ages. But, silver lining. Natalie – mosaic teacher – reckons she can get it fixed, so I’m going to keep it & make my neighbour another one. She’s paying me to make it, so I want it to be perfect.
@lilymartin – welcome back. You can do it! Stick with us, try to post every day, & plan, plan, plan! Read the book again, do whatever it takes to get & stay motivated 💪
@ccco – meerkats are adorable! Especially when they stand up on their back legs & look around. You wouldn’t want to cuddle a wild one though. I heard they can carry rabies & other nasty diseases https://imgur.com/a/hGGH2yj So I make sure Boo Boo gets her shots every year.
@stitchincarol – feel better soon! 🤧
@jaifaim – thinking of you 🤗 🤗
Interesting! From the Daily Fail, @iona72 😉

Pocket List – Day 12 🍌

Day 12, FD, Aus
Such sad news about your mum @jaifaim. How lucky that you are there with her and I hope the care team are wrong about her ability to rally back.
Day 11 – Ireland – NFD🚫 ✅ 🚶🏽♀️ 🌾
Some busy and tough days here this week. I have not got back to my place since Friday as I am still with mum who deteriorated over the werkend.
Just staying close as the doctor and care team who visited feel mum may not rally this time so I have been trying to work here while keeping a close eye.
Goodnight all and catch up tomorrow… or later today as it’s so late…
Onward and downward ⬇️
We rise by lifting others 💕
Morning all.
Great to hear from you Thin. What a suprise! Have you abandoned your boating life permanently, or just taking a wee holiday? Yes, prices are crazy, but honestly, I feel my spend is manageable by shoping a bit more carefully, growing some of my own, and keeping the freezer stocked, particularly with meat which I buy in bulk from a farm. Oh, and we eat a lot more beans than we used to, but that’s a choice, not from $$ necessity.
Neil, what an amazing ride. No wonder you were exhausted. i got a cramp just thinking about it.
Cinque Melbourne was lovely, and we had a nice few days, although not as active as we are usually, as I try to shake off the shingles effects.
We took a trip out to Elsternwick to the Holocaust Museum. I eavesdropped on a teacher with her class – one of the most powerful things she said to those students was when showing them a photograph of women being marched away, she asked what they saw. Yes, Jews and soldiers. But one observant one noticed how many people were just looking on, not intervening, not even turning away. Just accepting. A lesson there for us all.
Reading the narrative about how Hitler was actually able to seize power earlier in the 1930s, it was hard not to see similarities with how Trump/Musk are operating in the US. And among all the gutting of aid, the public sector, etc Trump still finds time to reverse the decision banning plastic straws. Madness.
Calif good to hear from you – I was sorry to read that you have such stress in your life. You probably didn’t need my gratuitious commentary about US politics. Hope you are able to find some time for yourself, doing things that give you peace and pleasure.
Gday those fires. How terrifying and sad to see so much destruction. Hope they get control soon. Miss Gday going well with her schooling? Settled in to her new school year?
Hope the job hunt is fruitful Anzac. And you are enjoying this imposed break from your crazy work life.
Quacka great find, a free bike. And great work on the FDs. Thank you for the call out. It reminds me when I go MIA. I haven’t been able to do a FD yet but am eating gently and my 50 gram losses continue and are adding up to kilos now. Just a couple, but I’ll take it.
We are off to Bali on Friday, but I find we eat quite lightly there – we avoid the hotel buffet breakfasts like the plague, but there’s a little cafe down by the water that does good coffee and poached eggs on sourdough – my kind of breakfast.
Anzac we don’t seem to have the extremes of heat that the southern states are experiencing. A 35 degree day here has us all complaining, but it’s more likely low 30s in Feb, our hottest month. At night OH and I go down to the pool and sit on the steps and natter away, dogs cruising around happy to have another garden run, then no towels – we just pull on our Tshirts or whatever and go to bed, cool. Here’s another tip – freeze a hot water bottle of water, wrap it in a cloth or cover, then pop it between the sheets. Bliss.
On that note, I’ll finish. Lots to do today before we go away. Take care all.
Morning all,
Weigh-in today and no change to my weight, but then I wasn’t expecting there to be much since I was eating heaps on my bike ride, and for the couple of day afterwards, my body must have needed it to recover.
Thin, great to hear from you, it must be a bit of a shock to the system to go from winter in the UK to summer in Perth. A 90 storey apartment building is insane, that’s almost as high as the sky tower in Auckland, which is NZs highest building.
Quacka, 800g is nothing to sneeze at for a week, If I was dropping 800g a week I’d be very happy.
Anzac, fingers crossed for your job prospect. I used to swim pretty regularly when I was younger, but I couldn’t handle the monotony of endless laps, which is why I’m pleased I found cycling because I know I wouldn’t be able to stick to swimming as a sole exercise.
G’day, I would send you some of our cool overcast weather if I could, 44 degrees can’t be good for fighting fires. Cali, how are the fires over there going? I heard that they think that some of them were deliberately lit. I just can’t comprehend the kind of person who would deliberately light a fire that has killed numerous people and animals, destroyed huge stretches of land, and caused millions of dollars of property damage.
Well I hope you’re all well and I’ll catch up with you again later.
Not sure when I’ll try the cheese, will check the date on it. Not in a rush to try it. 2 AGM’s this month. Our game as been cancelled tomorrow they couldn’t get a full team. So will have a practice instead. The season starts on April 2nd I think. Soon be spring. The years fly by.
Afternoon All..,
It’s starting to come together the bathroom..wall and tray and shower head all done, he’s found a leak at the back of the toilet as it’s all in the unit you can’t see it. I called him Mr Grumpy today he has very negative thoughts.
It’s all looking nice.. toilet and floor down tomorrow 🤞🏻
He’s had the heating on I was melting all afternoon, and the outside door wide open so heating was fighting against the cold. Turned it off when he left and I had all the windows open I couldn’t cope with it..
Sorted the case out a bit, some packing it’s looks a lot better and organised now.
I went shopping for a few toiletries and wool, 14 books from the charity shop…
Dave..
I hope the roof soon gets sorted it looks like I might be finished before you. AGM for Petanque at 6.30 it will only be a hour. Hope the cheese goes well..
Hedgehog..
I am sorry your mum is going down hill, at least you have things in place. Chris was over 7 years then went very quickly in 6 months. It’s so sad to watch. It must frustrate them.
Hemmy..
Nothing is easy when you bring people in, always huffing and puffing on how hard the job is.. he seems to be a bit better now it’s nearly finished.
I need to start decorating, I am wondering if I am still up to doing it😬…
You are doing well with no wine.. I don’t drink much these days although I shall while I am away.. a lot of fds when home.
