Day 23 – USA – WFD
Salutations! I hope everyone is well and making steady progress toward your goals! 😀
I began my current WF at 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2025. As of this writing, I have a little under 25 hours remaining until I break it at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 24, 2025. My fasts (for now) are electrolyte-water-only, lasting 42-hours, followed by a 6-hour eating window. The first cycle went well, and this is my second one in the current series.
@ccco – I wish you every success on your ADF journey! I hope (and expect) to lose 20 lbs by the end of March. That would leave me about 60 lbs (~27.2 kg) from my target weight of 170 lbs (~77.1 kg). My goal is to reach that by the end of the year, which is very doable. My primary motivating thoughts are that December 31, 2025, is coming—time marches on! On that day, will I be at my goal of 170 lbs, or it will represent another elapsed year of unchecked obesity where I thought a lot about making the necessary changes but never took action?
Over the years, I’ve read dozens of books from countless weight loss and health experts. I’ve watched thousands of their videos. All were excellent, but in the end, it’s up to us to take the daily steps to reach our goals. I’ve witnessed others lose far more weight than I need to lose. That’s very motivating! More importantly (for me), I’ve followed the correct steps and reached a healthy weight numerous times. One of my more recent sources of inspiration is from Dr. Frank O’Neill, D.C. He teaches health and nutrition courses. He ultimately lost 200 lbs (~90.7 kg) using ADF, a modified ADF, and the 5:2 Fast. That includes 165 lbs (~74.8 kg) that he lost in a year. He has a ton of videos on his YouTube channel that document his journey and he discusses many aspects and forms of IF. I rewatch those videos daily for motivation. Although the information is not new, it’s highly motivating to see people who successfully implement IF practices. You may find a source of strength in his videos as well.
Among the best are:

@penz – Thank you for the kind welcome! I completely share your thoughts about “boredom eating”. Regarding my love of meteorology, it began when I was six. I was fascinated by all things “weather”, and I remain so to this day. In fact, it’s been my life-long profession since 1986, so it’s much more than a simple interest or hobby (not television meteorology, but research meteorology). I look forward to following your health journey! 😀
@lilymartin – As others have expressed, thank you for offering to host the March 2025 challenge. I’m looking forward to it!
To one and all, peace, good health, and great fasting (or healthy feasting)! 😀
Kind regards,
Joseph
USA. Day. WFD
FUNSHIPFREDDIE, I love the movie of the elephants! 😊
USA. Day 23. WFD
Pocket List – Day 23 🥚
@funshipfreddie
@ccco
Yesterday’s FD didn’t go completely as planned. My daughter’s stove stopped working when she was ready to make lunch, so alternate plans were necessary. I made a fairly good CD instead but I want to do a WFD to make up the difference.
FUNSHIPFREDDIE, I had the chance to ride an elephant, once at the U.S. Barnum and Bailey Circus and once in Thailand. They certainly are hughe!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
Good morning everyone.. Happy Sunday Xxxx
It s a grey start here after the beautiful day yesterday… hopefully some sunshine later.
Ohh yesterday I was soo tired I could hear old Mum saying .. ” There is another day tomorrow Carol. ” lol
I never stopped for 6 hrs.. cleaning before walking .. then 1 1/2 hrs over the fields .. came back and cleaned the boot room top to bottom… never had lunch till 3.30
Anyway after afew days of 6-7 hr gap between breakfast and lunch then not wanting more than a few crispbreads later I think that is a good way to go for me My weight is good.
Nana .. how is your weekend going.
Dave… Oh what a very stressful time you are having.. What did the roofers say about that the roof was still leaking… When I had a leek in the roof tiles the guy poured water down after. to check it..
Poor Denise she must get down with not feeling well. Hard for you too i expect knowing what todo for the best.. hope she is feeling better soon.
H H Hope you are having a good weekend. Xx
Sym.. Did you have a wonderful time did you get some good colour with all the sunshine and being on board. Charlie will be ecstatic to see you and you him..
Enjoy your day everyone.. easy day here just a good wash and trim for Pip todo
May your Sunday be full of joy and happiness. Xxxx
2nd Post – Day 23
Oops? That should have read ‘FD’
Day 23 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD
@lilymartin – thanks so much for offering to host the March Challenge 🙏
@jaifaim – I’m glad you liked the video. We did 8 of those zip-lines! Some of them only about 40 metres long, & some of them +140 metres. What a rush?! 🤯
@brightonbelle – I love Peter Kay! I don’t think I’ve seen the car-share episode though? 🤔
@ccco – the elephants were amazing. They really are gentle giants – most of the time. But they can turn nasty, especially if they think their young are under threat. Kind of like us 😅 https://imgur.com/a/Q5S83wx
@iona72 congrats on the lab results! There’s so much conflicting info about cholesterol. They say LDL is the one to watch, & maybe triglycerides too. But then they talk about the size of particles, & ratios, etc 🤔
Happy S🌞nday!
Pocket List – Day 23 🥚
@funshipfreddie
Day 23, NFD, Aus
I didn’t realise I’d missed so many days and so many posts.
Welcome @icystorm! Always great to have a new member join us. I’m a bit like you – don’t get stomach hungry (and I knew exactly what you meant!) but get bored and use food as a way to feel the time. That’s why my most successful FDs are when I’m busy. Looking forward to hearing more about your love of meteorology. Embrace the WFD acronym for your planned FDs (I have coffee on mine and still call it a WFD).
Oh @jaifaim, my heart aches for you and your family. As @stitchincarol said, it’s the loss that is forever. I still think of my mum every day and catch myself thinking of things I want to discuss with her, and it’s been more than 15 years since she died. Look after yourself.
Lovely to see you back @stitchincarol. Brrr, those are some cold temps you’re having!! And, urgh, must make FDs even more challenging. But you know the secret to success: 2 FDs per week and being sensible on NFDs. Simple really!
Thanks for offering to host next month @lilymartin.
Great lab results @iona72!
Day 22 – Ireland – NFD 🚫 ✅ 🚶🏽♀️ 🌾
Hello everyone, just a very quick hello.
Thank you all 💕💕
@funshipfreddie fab little video 🎈🎈 made me smile a lot.
Onward and downward ⬇️
We rise by lifting others 💕
Roofers said it’s finally all done🙏🤟✌️👍. They are coming back next week to tidy up the back of the house. They did the front today. Still a bit too sweep up at the front but not much. A few nails about so will get rid of them, don’t want Chloe stepping on them. Very quiet on here today. I bought a bar of chocolate to give me a lift.I Denise or I leave the r room Chloe’s right on the seat where we were sat🤣.
Well done Iona.
I have to accept that at 64 any changes are going to be both small and slow but I would like to be smaller by Easter.
Just keeping going seems to be only option. Avoiding any food that is ultra processed seems to be helpful.
USA. DAY 22. FD
Today I started my ADF. I am hoping for some results like Icystorm got! The day has just begun but I think I got this. Keeping busy does help. I loved biking so much, too, but I got older and very arthritic, so I can’t anymore. I just stare at my bike in the garage and wish I could get on it again!😒 I do lift light weights now and take walks when it isn’t too cold. I have a whole exercise routine.
FUNSHIPFREDDIE, you made a good case for seeing that movie! Glad you enjoyed it.
Also, I have always wanted to go on a safari. Seeing those elephants up close, if they are gentle giants, would be amazing for me!
BrigthtonBelle, I know what you mean about visitingn relatives being hectic but I love London. I have been there numerous times and have enjoyed going to the theatre there. I am very fond of our Broadway! I am a New Yorker, so had easy access. I even got a chance to take my children to the theatre in London. It was quite a treat for them.
Hope everyone is having a lovely and successful day today!😊
Hello
I had my lab results back and thankfully I am no longer in the pre-diabetic range, losing weight has really helped my numbers. Not much scale movement the last few weeks but I’m feeling enthused, so like you @annette52, I am hoping for more progress in March.
Day 22 UK NFD
Home sweet home , I do love going to see family and friends but it always turns out being quite hectic and exhausting, I’m going to spend the weekend easing myself back to normality – and watching a lot of rugby , next list for me Monday and I’ll be seeing Fab Feb out strong 💪
So sorry for your loss @jaifaim 💕
I can’t help but think of Peter Kay’s car share episode whenever animal parks are mentioned @funshipfreddie 🐒
Thanks for volunteering for March @lilymartin
Right – have to dash , catch up properly tomorrow Have a great Saturday all
Day 22 – USA/LA – NFD
Hello! I hope everyone is making good progress toward your goals! 😀
@iona72 – Thank you for your welcome and comment! It’s great that you received good lab results and felt relieved to see improved numbers. I hope you continue trending in a healthy direction, and I look forward to following your journey! 😀
@funshipfreddie – I appreciate the welcome! Your zipline adventure looks like an awesome way to celebrate your birthday. 😀
@ccco – Congrats on a successful FD! Yes, the ADF I mentioned worked great for me back then. I was very diligent about it in 2014. I basically had 500-600 calories on a “fast day” and followed that with eating until satisfaction on my “feast day.” I focused on enjoying myself on my eating days and not stressing over food. I was probably eating around 125% of my TDEE on feast days, which allowed me to embrace the “fast days” stress-free. I was also biking an hour late each afternoon and lifting modest weights in my garage back then. 😀
Here in 2025, I no longer bike, and I rarely lift weights, but once I drop back to around 210 lbs (~95.3 kg), I plan to start biking again and lifting more. I used my time wisely during my fasting day yesterday—I went grocery shopping and stocked up on plenty of fresh veggies, herbs, and some protein for a robust salad when I break my fast around 10:00 AM. I should be able to enjoy two of those large, nutritious salads during my six-hour eating window before rolling into my next fast at 4:00 PM. 😀
Peace, good health, and great fasting (or healthy feasting) to all! 😀
Best,
Joseph
Beautiful day here today 8°C but blue sky.Denise said she feels awful from the waist up, normally her legs so don’t know what’s up with her.The roofers have just arrived.
Morning All,
Completely delighted to have reached the pre Australia number on the scales. Hopefully I can nudge it down to a new stone band in March which would be fantastic. I have been eating less and trying to eat more protein and less carbs.
How is it going Iona?
Day 22 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD
@icystorm – welcome!
@stitchincarol – so good to see you back! 👏
@iona72, @ccco – the movie was perfect; loved every minute of it!
@excelsior12309 – a cake from Boo Boo?! 😂 Not even a card, ungrateful moggie 😼
@jaifaim – my sincere condolences. There are few things worse than losing a parent. Even when it’s expected, it’s still a shock 🤗
@brightonbelle – I hope you’re enjoying London. No real daredevil antics the day after my birthday; although my car was surrounded by elephants at one point, at the Addo Elephant Park! Dozens of them. We saw lots of zebras too, + warthogs & springboks
I had an amazing birthday. I don’t usually do anything special, & I hate people making a fuss. But this year I had a friend visiting me from NZ. We’ve known each other for nearly 4 decades, but I hadn’t seen her for 8 years. So I wanted to make it memorable for both of us.
A brief clip of me zip-lining on my birthday 😳 Back to reality & a fast day tomorrow 🎯
https://imgur.com/a/Juuub2D
Have a good weekend everyone 🌤🌈
Cinque, ha ha, with the op shopping comments. It was SO hard to find a place to take the trunkful of stuff we had accumulated as all the bins for clothing and shoes were removed during covid when people apparently did weird things with the contents. We finally found a Vinnies where we went with armfuls of clothing. What a relief as OH kept changing his mind whenever he saw what he’d discarded. Such a hoarder. I suffer from cold feet too. (In the literal sense – do you recall the excellent 90s UK comedy series, ‘Cold Feet’?).
Yesterday, we took our family friends to their favourite winery as a partial thank you for loaning us their car for our stay. The bill was in the hundreds but it was a beautiful day with kangaroos in the surrounding bushland doing their unique locomotion thing. The sunlight on the gum trees is so beautiful. Red-tailed black cockatoos carrying on in the trees with a clear blue sky backdrop.
This morning we were up at 5ish to watch the start of the Perth to Rottnest swim. We had friends among the shark-spotting kayaking support teams. What a spectacle. All dressed in humorous disguises so their respective swimmers could recognise and follow them – Where’s Wally, Traffic Cones, Sharks, Jesters, Unicorns, Disco Ball hat, etc. There are so many super fit people living in Perth – thousands took part in the actual swim which is over 19km.
Particularly striking was that, despite the multi-cultural city that Perth has become over forty years, the demographic of tens of thousands of participants, supporters and spectators was, without exception, WASP. Quite extraordinary to realise that there has been no integration whatsoever in some respects of intrinsic Australian lifestyle. I have seen this in England wrt the Queen’s Jubilee and King’s Coronation where street parties were held in every town and village up and down the country. How bizarre to move to a new country but fail to embrace any of its culture or traditions.
After this, we went to a cafe where people were happily shelling out $20 for an acai bowl. I have to say that Australians do seem a lot healthier and fitter than the British. The expanse of white sandy beach was superb. After the crowd dispersed, we walked its length and found just one piece of litter – a number sticker that must have come off someone’s kayak.
Lindsay, I’ve never heard of the Right of Abode option – why do you need this? Might you live in Scotland? The PO tried to persuade me to take the speedier (and more expensive) option for the passport renewal but I knew it wouldn’t take the stated 4-6 weeks so I declined. The passport arrived within one week.
Fortunately, Aussie Border Force is sensible about allowing its citizens to enter the country with less than 6 months’ validity whereas I was once held in a back room in Indonesia because DD’s (then a small child) passport had 5 months, 3 weeks and 2 days remaining and they saw this as an opportunity to relieve me of some baksheesh. However, I held my nerve and told them I had nothing to give them so they could feel free to send us back to Oz if they wanted. We had onward tickets and I was hardly going to leave my small child behind as an overstayer in Bali. After a 4 hour stand-off, they gave up and let us pass. Stupid rule and none of their business in my view. Your passport validity is a matter between you and your government.
3.
Neil. Yay! 300g down is definitely in the right direction. Keep on keeping on!
I have been thinking of you complaining about sore muscles after your epic bike ride. I was looking after my granddaughters at Darebin Parklands on Wednesday. Ms10 is very very cautious and got stressed when Ms8 started climbing down a rocky hillside instead of keeping to the path. So I encouraged her to have a go at climbing down it (it was a very easy climb) and did it with her. I was so proud she did it. But omg it was something my thighs hadn’t experienced for years and I have been hobbling around the house the last couple of days, very much channeling epic bike ride pain!
Lindsay, hello to you! What a lovely way to make the most of your Bali trip. Plenty of nothing is just what you both need. I hope it is still going on.
Well, lovely to catch up, and sending lots of good wishes to all you good people.
ciao
2.
Anzac, haha what fun sharing computers with Mr Anzac.
It is so weird to know you are having trouble finding a job when I have seen you through the years being so courted, and being such a good and expert worker. Weird, but the frustration must be worse. Is the universe telling you it is time to head north and enjoy the new life you want? Even if you haven’t quite the savings you planned on?
I am looking forward to the longer post when Mr Anzac lets you have the computer again 😉
I really hope you can get back into 5:2 and all the good things now.
Thin, I do love how you make the most out of wherever you are. Your Perth adventures sound wonderful What a lot of people you must have there to catch up with.
We had news of another Victorian egg farm shut down due to avian flu. It was near the other two. I did get my eggs (thanks Aldi). Not cage eggs and $5:70 a dozen, I think it was, which is fine.
Ooh the opshop will love your donations! I hope they all find people who need them, and who will appreciate them fully.
I wonder if you have missed LJoyce? She hasn’t posted since Christmas and I have missed her. Hopefully she is doing something wonderful.
But missing you too Turn!
Quacka, woot for fast days, even btb, and yay for lots of exercise, even if it makes you hungry.
It is so hard to embrace that ‘not feeling full’ but it is the best state to be in, apparently.
I’m going to try and do some embracing of it today too. 😀
I am wearing one of my summer dresses that only fit if I haven’t been overeating. And matching sandals (both excellent op shop finds). Because I suffer from cold feet, the one consolation of a 38 degree forecast is that my feet can cope in sandals and I can wear a dress (I just can’t carry off a dress with any other footwear). So where did I go in my nice dress up? Off to check out a couple of op shops ofcourse! Haha.
Hello everyone, from my still-cool home, with the heat climbing outside.
I’ve been busy with my doctor working really hard to get to the bottom of my dreadful coughing, and it looks like she has! A straightforward cyst on my thyroid gland, that the specialist assured me wouldn’t cause problems, has cheekily been getting bigger and pressing hard on my windpipe. Even the gastroscopy didn’t find it. It goes up and down a bit, so no wonder it has been confusing. Also had a bit of a chest infection, so relief and antibiotics have made me feel so much better. Another appt next week to deal with that cyst.
Cali, that chili crisp is big over here too. I hope you nail the recipe.
Yes, time to get serious about your weight again, or it will keep creeping up. It is so hard to make it a priority when Mr Cali is such a priority, but it better be done!
Plan out those exercises and meals and hopefully some good fast days, and you will feel so much better. You need to be healthy to be a carer. All power to you now.
It is feeling like we are coming to the end of this year’s heatwaves, so hopefully you are coming to the end of your freezing weather.
USA. Day 21. FD
My FD was successful and my kitchen is closed! 👍🏻
Icystorm, I like what you said about ADA. I think I am going to try that this weekend and see how it goes. 28 lbs. was a great loss doing that!
See you all in the morning!
Evening!
Safe journey home Jean!
Dave- hugs to you 🤗 Lots of worries…
Hemmy- good your weight is stable & well done keeping off the alcohol!
I have strained a muscle in my back, but the stretches recommended online made it worse, plus I stupidly tried to move my bird feeder today, thought it would be easy, had to give up on it! That & another thing I tried to help Mum with didn’t work so was feeling very grumpy & hangry so didn’t manage just one meal! It seems everything in her house has been done in such a complicated way, nothing is easy to get fixed! They changed lots of things which were fine & made life harder, beginning to wonder if Dad was getting dementia too…My sister is sorting a new light bulb for the kitchen, they had a fluorescent light put in & she can’t get hold of a new one!
At least the weather has been nice here & had a lovely walk with Xena, must end on a positive!
Have a good weekend 🥰
Day 21 NE England IF 18:6
Weight is steady so I’m happy with that, I can see where I need to tweak next week to see a loss for the month hopefully.
I got my Lab results back today. My Hb1AC has dropped from 43(pre-diabetes) to 37 (normal) I am very much relieved! Cholesterol is a little high but I’m less concerned about that – rightly or wrongly??
@jaifaim heartfelt condolences to you and your family, hope you are doing ok.
Welcome @icystorm, I look forward to following your journey here.
@merryapple good to stay in the 60’s, well done. Yes the little people are here every week! In addition I had my nieces 2 girls for tea yesterday too!
@stitchincarol glad you can’t stay away!!
@ccco sounds like that was some ordeal for you, hope you are back on track.
@funshipfreddie how was the movie?
Day 21 – USA/LA – WFD
Greetings! I hope everyone is well and making steady progress toward your goals! I am enjoying reading all of your daily posts and seeing the enthusiasm here! 😀
Today marks my return to fasting. I’ve started with ADF today and plan to finish out February before rolling into a full month of ADF in March. On my fasting days, including today, I’m only consuming water with electrolytes, which I mix myself using the homemade “snake juice” recipe. I assume the “WFD” tag above covers that, or is that reserved strictly for plain water only?
The last time I did ADF, I lost about 28 lbs (~12.7 kg) in my first month—though I was younger and much more active back in 2014! If I can shed 20 lbs (~9 kg) by the end of March, I’ll be happy. Of course, I need to continue far beyond March, but for now—one day at a time. 😀
Regarding weights, I will post mine once a week on Thursday, since I am using my morning weight of 253 lbs (114.8 kg) on Thursday, February 20 as my personal starting benchmark for my current journey.
@ccco – Thank you for the welcome! I share your pain regarding electricity outages. A couple of summers ago, the power failed during the hottest and most humid time of the year. I ended up booking a local hotel just to sleep in air conditioning! Thankfully, power was restored the next day. Your story from this morning about your chatty neighbor was hilarious! 😀
@merryapple – I appreciate your warm welcome! Yes, recidivism and weight regain are struggles that many of us face. I always tell myself I won’t treat this journey as if there’s a “finish line in the sand”, yet once I reach a healthy (or near-healthy) weight, I feel so great that I lose sight of that mindset. Now, as I approach 58 in April, I know it’s truly time to commit for life and follow through with great maintenance. I’m really glad I found this supportive group and all of you! Let’s do this! 😀
Regarding Paul Prudhomme, I have to admit—I hadn’t heard of him! I’m a transplant here and quite a ways from New Orleans, but I do enjoy their interesting foods. The Cajun and blackened seasoning you mentioned sounds like it’ll make a delicious meal—please let us know how it turned out! By the way, I visited Christchurch, NZ on South Island for a couple of months back in 1994. It was an incredible place! More on that adventure later!
Peace, good health, and great fasting (or healthy feasting) to all! 😀
Best,
Joseph
Been waiting for the roofers all day but no sign of them. Not been able to do anything in the house. Looking forward to my tea very hungry now.Cant believe how fast the clouds are moving, it’s worst than when we had the storms. Very windy.
USA. Day 21. FD
Good day, everyone!
I went to a hotel with a neighbor when we lost power. Wow! That was the wrong neighbor to do something like that. She not only never stopped talking and kept saying I was the one talking too much (I couldn’t if I wanted to. No way to get any words in edgewise! LOL) but all she did was insult me and talk about herself and how she wanted to find a boyfriend, etc. She’s a widow and 80 years old!). Consequently, she so stressed me out that she pretty much caused me to eat too much all week! Now I have to find a way to avoid her! 🤪
Anyway, I am getting back on track today! What a miserable person that woman is.
NorthGeorgia, I had my cataracts out in January 2022. Today that operation is so easy. The way they used to do this was complicated. Even though my doctors kept telling me that it’s up to me as to whether I wanted to live that way or get the operation, so I kept putting it off until I decided how ridiculous that response from them was. I couldn’t even see the television shows anymore or that I couldn’t see everything when I was driving. Now I can see everything! It’s wonderful!
Anyway, my FD is back on track! 👍🏻
Hope everyone is having a great day and FUNSHIPFREDDIE, you will have to tell us how that movie goes. I have seen the ads here for it. 😊
Afternoon All..
Last day in Tenerife we have had a good walk around the city now back on board getting lunch.
We have had a good holiday obviously we would have preferred Jacqui to be better but it’s been fine.
Jacqui is holding her own but will see a doctor when back.. we might be wrong but we think viral meningitis. She is still getting a headache and dizzy at times but then perks up. Her rash is on her feet, legs and arms. There is not a lot we can do here.. if she gets worse we will take her to the ships doctor. We are keeping away from people and in the fresh air. Phil and I are still clear..
The chemist didn’t seem too bothered.
Hope you are all ok.. I shall be back home about 8pm Saturday night.
Jean x
Day 21 – USA/GA – ZBC
Weigh-in: 234 lbs. @merryapple Mom is about the same; she’s hoping insurance will reapprove the gel injections that seemed to help. Since the pain specialist recommended knee replacement surgery, she wonders if that is what’s delaying the approval. I went to the eye doctor yesterday… somehow I kept putting it off and I think untold number of years passed…yikes… I need a stronger prescription, and I have small cataracts in both eyes, but nothing to concern myself with now, she said. They must be super tiny. I don’t even see anything in the mirror! Or maybe ergo there’s the problem LOL
Anyway, I’m ready to relax a little this weekend. I still have an intense three weeks of grant writing ahead, plus a meeting in Atlanta for three days in March. Looking forward to my South American adventure, though!
Good morning everyone.Denise as had breakfast so that’s an improvement from yesterday. The roof is still leaking so see what happens they have not said if they had finished but called them out supposed to coming to fix it today. Worried about Denise and all the decorating too do. I’m eating too much but will calm down once Denise is feeling better and the roof is done and also the decorating.I feel really down at the moment.Chicken casserole for tea tonight. Your right about alcohol and eating junk food Hemmy.
Good morning everyone.. Xxxx
Its a grey start here but first morning that the heating hadn’t had to kick in. Hooray.
Just weighed and I have stayed the same.. so still one pound to pre Xmas weight.
Day 33 No AlC and definitely feeling more energetic.
Dave ..well done on no Alcohol .. its got lots of empty calories in it plus I dont know about you but it makes me hungry for rubbish food. I expect that’s why lots eat take away after drinking. I hope Denise is feeling better today. Careful on the ladders.
H H I would imagine with your back ache and not sleeping it could be tension re your Mum.. Yoga is very good.
While things are a bit tense cut yourself a bit of slack re weight loss. It will be easier when we get into spring weather and lighter meals… Tasty salads etc.xx
Nana .. Is it Friday lunch out for you .
Sym.. Thinking of you in the sunshine and all that lovely food lol.
I have the other cooked salmon today .. so just a stir fry to do this evening . What are you having ?
Enjoy your day everyone…
“Finish strong, it’s Friday!” Xxxx
“Finish strong, it’s Friday!”
Day 21 – South Africa 🇿🇦 – NFD
Just checking in. Proper post later. Thanks so much for the birthday wishes. Can’t believe how many posts I need to catch up on! Weather not great; off to see the new Bridget Jones movie..
I am not even going to try to edit my post to correct my ‘late lunch’ to ‘dinner’. Last time I tried to edit, I lost the lot.
Anzac feeling for you in your job search and uncertainty. Fingers crossed for a good outcome.
Morning all. A quick post from Bali, where I’ve been massaged, manicured, pedicured, waxed and facialed (if such a word exists) and I still don’t look any younger! Never mind. I don’t have scales here, but am eating gently, and my OH doesn’t have to ‘help’ me into my togs, so that’s a plus. That said, they are a much smaller size, left over from my first weight loss, so giving them a hitch at the back has been necessary in more recent times…but not any more.
It’s lovely here – and we are doing absolutely nothing. No temples, no trips to islands. Just mornings on the verandah of our villa, looking out to sea and reading, before a mid-morning breakfast (still sticking to the 12 hour minimum fast rule), a massage or whatever, followed by a swim, a walk and lunch, back for a snooze, and a G & T on the verandah, before a late lunch.
Quacka 400 grams is a good loss and well done on the B2B fast days.
Neil 300 grams is not to be sneezed at. I’d rather lose a third of a kilo than put it on.
Calif my OH, being Glaswegian and a beer drinker at that in his younger days, always had a pickled egg on his nights out. Doesn’t Neil’s recipe sound delicious. And healthy, too. re price of eggs…I buy mine from our butcher – free range and always fresh. They’re now $9.99 a dozen for the large 800 gram ones, but as Neil says, a cheap protein.
Thin sounds like you’ve slotted right back in to Australian life. I needed a new passport – $400. Then needed to pay an extra $100 to get it in time, because I hadn’t realised I had less than 6 months on it. But when get back I have to fork out 550 UK pounds to get my Right to Abode in the UK transferred to the new passport. Daylight robbery!
Cinque haven’t seen a post from you for a while – hello to beautiful Melbourne.
Off now for my beachside breakfast where I’ll be joined by a couple of beach dogs looking for a handout. All super friendly and looking very well cared for, and I notice most have been desexed (the boys, that is, although I do see quite a few of the females with signs they have recently had puppies so not all the boys).
Day 21 NZ NFD 69.9kg⬇️🏃🏼♀️
Whew!! Just back in the 60s by the hair of my chiny chin chin… Discipline is certainly required!! I have just given away all my larger than life clothes to a charity in Whakatāne (East Coast, Nth Island) which sells clothing and teaches people how to grow vegetables with the profits. I love being a ‘normal’ shape but still want to lose that pesky 5kg to create a safe maintenance zone under 70kg.
@jaifaim I’m saddened to hear about your mother, may she RIP. It’s lovely to hear you were with her and her passing was peaceful. I hope you’re doing OK. It’s such a big change to accommodate…
@stitchincarol So nice to see you popping in!!
I have nearly finished my nephew’s homespun cabled jersey but have just discovered one sleeve has 4 stitches less on one arm than the other. I’m knitting the sleeves from the top down because I have nearly run out of the Gotland wool… I think I will pull it undone because these sorts of things so annoy me… I kept meaning to count the stitches but hadn’t got round to it because the pattern worked out. I’m missing a 4 stitch ‘stripe’…
@ccco No power in a snow storm sounds rather chilly. No wonder you decamped to a hotel!!
You Americans are sure having some crazy weather!!
@icystorm Welcome!! On the whole we’re all recidivists here so you’re in the right place🤣
I have just been rereading Paul Prudhomme’s Louisiana Cookbook which I bought in the 1980s when he became a superstar and visited San Francisco. I lived in Oakland at the time. I have just bought some Cajun and blackened seasoning to take away with me!! I loved visiting New Orleans way back then!!
@excelsior12309 Are you back on track? I have now put the excess sourdough in the freezer to reduce my access to it… I have had my bug for 20+ years and have tried to kill it on many an occasion but it revives itself after a feed…
@northgeorgia Good numbers today. How’s your mother getting on?
@at Good to see you on the sheet!! I hope all is well up there in the Lake District.
@brightonbelle I hope you’re enjoying your train trip and your FIL is doing well. I love traveling on trains esp with knitting!!
@iona72 Are the grand babies still keeping you on your toes!?
I am away as of Sunday for two weeks so am not much use as a March host but will do April.
Steely RESOLVE – 7 days to go!!
second post.
Have just been reading some of the previous posts.
@funshipfreddie a very belated happy birthday.
I hope you had a good day.
@jaifaim, I ‘m so sorry to hear about the death of your mother. Although our parents usually pre-decease us, it is still a very painful loss. Thoughts and prayers are with you. 💐🙏
@stitchinncarol… Brrrr…..☃️❄️ I can’t imagine being that cold. We sweltered in 35ºC yesterday and 37 forecast for Sunday.
I’ll send you some of our warmth if you send me some of your coolth.
I am happy to host for March if no-one else has put their hand up. (As long as AT does the spreadsheet thingy!!).
I really need the accountability !!! And the group support which I have been very poor at for the past 2 years ….
Day 21 country west Australia CD
Down 400g for this week after two FD. Pretty happy that I got through my B2B days too!
Off to the gym now. Have a great weekend everyone xx
Evening!
Dave- well done getting cracking, hope Denise is feeling better soon, she has had more than her share 😢
Jean- hope you’re able to enjoy the cruise despite Jacqui not feeling great…
Hemmy- well done with no alcohol, do you like sparkling water at all? I do like to support local shops but they definitely do cost lots!
Nana- hope you’ve had a good day?
I woke up at 2am with back ache & couldn’t sleep, so it’s been a very long day! And couldn’t do just the one meal, have been very hungry but at least all keto. Had a message from my aunt, Mum’s been getting stressed about the new heater, she doesn’t understand that she’s not getting the one she doesn’t like & keeps telling people I’m making her have it 😢
Had a nice catch up with my friend, gave her a bag of goodies for her dog to cheer him up! Resisted the lovely cakes & croissants…Hair cut & coloured, did some cooking for hubby this afternoon.
I don’t think the scales will be good tomorrow!
USA. Day 20 FD
Happy Birthday, FUNSHIPFREDDIE!
Welcome, Icystorm!
BrightonBelle, my lack of electricity misery was due to the weather. I went to a hotel which had some. I am still tried from that adventure.
Jaifaim, I am so sorry to hear about your mom but I have not doubt she is in a good place now. She is in my prayers.
I am glad you came back, stitchincarol. You always have much to offer us.
See you all again tomorrow!
Day 20 – 4th Post – LA/USA – NFD
Current weight: 253 lbs (114.8 kg)
Greetings, everyone! Even though I missed the start of the February 2025 challenge, I will begin an FD tomorrow as I restart my ADF journey. I had great success with it in the past and hope to replicate that again! As I read through the posts in the February 2025 challenge, your stories are all very encouraging! I want/need to lose 83 lbs (~37.6 kg) and maintain it once I reach my goal this time! The last time I reached a healthy weight, I maintained it for about four years. Sometimes it felt like the easiest thing in the world to do, but other times it was challenging.
@excelsior12309 – Thank you for the welcome! I hope your weather warms up soon. I totally agree with you about group accountability. The mutual support factor has always helped me a lot. It’s challenging to go on the journey alone, so having a group like this is beyond great! My nick, icystorm, comes from my lifelong love of meteorology! More on that later! I hope you have a successful FD! And wow, FD800! That’s awesome! 😃
@stitchincarol – I appreciate the welcome! Ah, I see the correct syntax for prefacing posts with “Day n” now! I initially read that in the organizer’s first post, but it was quite late, and I misinterpreted it to mean the FD one is on during the month. Anyway, I completely get it now! Your snowfall sounds amazing, and the temperatures you mentioned are brutal! Enjoy your coming warm-up next week! I live in Louisiana (LA). We had a rare snowfall of about 5 inches (~13 cm) in my area last month, with a low of +9°F (-13°C)!
Kind regards,
Joseph
Day 20 – Rural Nebraska, USA – FD of some sort
Just checking in because it’s too hard not to, LOL. My goal, which was nebulous at first, but has turned solid, is to learn to eat without gaining weight. Doing two FDs a week was obscuring how successful I was at that basic skill, so it’s been helpful, even while messing with my usual routine not to be fasting for two weeks. Also messing with my usual routine is that it’s C.O.L.D. here: last night, we broke a 100+ year old record by hitting negative 16; for all you Celsius people, that’s -26. Even worse, however, is the windchill, which is -35/-37. (Interesting how close our numbers get when it’s that low, huh?) Adding to all the challenges is that, after going around 350 days with no measureable snow, we had 12″ in a week with these frigid temps. Life has pretty much shut down here because schools are closed due to the danger of kids trying to get to school in such temperatures. Monday, however? 51/11 degrees. I guarantee you there will be many people in shorts and t-shirts that day, LOL!
@funshipfreddie Happy birthday!
@icystorm Welcome! Note that, if @funshipfreddie, as an example, were to keep track of how many days he’s been on 5-2, he’d be somewhere around Day 4000, but our numbers for each post are simply for the day of the month where you are; it can be confusing what day @penz and @merryapple are talking about, for example, since they’re in Oz and NZ, respectively, so we’re careful to always reflect the day of the month. Where in the States are you? I hope you glean lots of nuggets from all our journeys!
@jaifaim I’m so sorry for your loss. My own mom died in 2015, but was not terribly coherent or communicative her last year, and I still find things I want to ask her/tell her…it’s the loss that is forever. On the other hand, you had such lovely times with her, and were able to surround her with love in her last days, so I’m sure those memories will be a great comfort to you. 💞
Okay, back to my self-imposed exile. If I’m not back by next week, I’ll absolutely be back in March. Who’s hosting then?
Hugs, everyone, and have a grand one!
Day 20 – USA/GA – NFD
Weigh-in: 235 lbs. I went to lunch yesterday at a new chicken restaurant. Took leftovers home and had it for supper, too, with some grapes for dessert. Only gained about 3/4 of a pound. @funshipfreddie Hope you had a great birthday!
Day 20 NE England IF 16:8
Quick check in to send belated birthday wishes to @funshipfreddie hope you had a great time.
Gotta dash now -more later, have a good day all.
Day 20-No. VA USA-FD800
It is cold and a bit snowy, but nothing deep or accumulated. Weekend weather will be in the 40-50 degree range, so all will melt away soon!
@jaifaim, so sorry to hear about your mother. It was a long and difficult time for you all.
@icystorm, welcome! Is your name reflective of your local weather situation? Most of us in this group are experienced with the weight ups and downs, so it is a familiar situation. I think our group accountability helps us stay “on the wagon”, or to get back on, when we fall off!
@funshipfreddie, a belated “Happy Birthday” to you. Boo-boo says she is making a cake for you, but she has trouble due to no opposable thumbs…
@merryapple, during Covid days, I did quite a bit of baking, and tried sourdoughs several times. My son had more of the touch for it; I am more successful with traditional yeast breads. But I could eat the better part of a loaf, no problem, if I didn’t resist. Bread and I have a special friendship, it seems.
@penz, I admire those of you who do the water fasts. I would have to have an extremely busy day to do that and not cave at the end of the day.
@iona72, I am sure your excellent weight loss will help with your labs!
Have a good day, all!
Day 16 without alcohol for me, I’m chasing you Hemmy.Got the woodwork painted on the stairs now the walls then it’s onto doing the living room, that’s putting wallpaper up. I’m not so steady on the ladders so wish me luck. Going to be difficult to lose weight while doing all this work. Makes you hungry working, I prefer being lazy 😂.I should take a leaf out of Chloe’s book and sleep 23 hours a day. No idea what I’m having for tea, all depends if I have a sandwich at 12oclock.Trying to keep the calories low but not easy at the moment.Denise is not well today upset stomach and as been feeling sick so hope it’s not that virus.I had it a while ago. Horrible thing.
Good morning everyone. Xxxx
Its a much warmer day here at 13 deg but of course we have the rain.. looks to be set in for the day by the forecast.
Yesterday I did a big shop at Tesco Dave I forgot about the butter beans I was going to ask.
So I am well stocked or now for a while.. Trying to stop going to my local shop so much as its s very expensive.
Day 32 no Alc and not missing it at all now other than a fleeting thought about 6pm when I get Pips food.
Its my dreaded brass cleaning today .. I had cleaned it all recently but had ran out of brasso so my friend recommended the old fashioned way of vinegar yes it did look ok but very quickly looked dull . I keep thinking to put it all away although it looks lovely when all shiny.. I have pieces that were Mums and grans..
Dave.. How is it going this week.
Nana Is it a bicycle day today.
H H .. Enjoy your coffee with your friend…You will be smart with your hair trim.
Sym..What a shame Jacqui isn’t herself.. illness always strikes at the wrong times..
The cruise sounds wonderful.. lovely to relax in the sunshine. .there’s nothing like it.
Enjoy your day everyone.. “Your potential knows no boundaries.” Xxxx

Day 20 – Ireland – NFD 🚫 ✅ 🚶🏽♀️ 🌾
Hello everyone, thanks for all your lovely and kind thoughts since I last posted… Mum left us very peacefully last week and we were with her which was so very special. I’m finding it hard to focus on much right now but I am here, have read through the posts and trying to get back into some sort of routine but it’s hard. Poca a poca as we would say…
@molij I am thinking of you and hope all goes well for you in the coming weeks.
@iona72 I hope your tests went well!
@stitchincarol I am so sorry you feel so under pressure and hope you are back with us soon.
@funshipfreddie I hope you had a fabulous birthday yesterday! The zip lining adventure sounds right up my tree🎈
