    Day 20 – South Africa ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ – FD

    I think I just fixed the spreadsheet. I’m amazing ๐Ÿค“ ๐Ÿ˜…

    @merryapple – hope you’re okay. You’re killing it this month! ๐Ÿคฏ ๐Ÿ’ช

@stitchincarol – caffeine?! I’ve done the opposite of embracing it for the last few months. I don’t think I feel any hungrier either. I have one regular coffee first thing, then switch to decaff or rooibos tea. I think people underestimate how addictive it is. It is a drug, after all, despite being legal & ubiquitous. You say you haven’t used it for years, so why not switch back. But caffeine sensitivity increases as we age, so you might finish up feeling really jittery & have sleep problems. Some people do say they have trouble sleeping after a FD, & I wonder if that’s one of the reasons why – more tea/coffee yet less food? But anyway, try it, we’re all different. But maybe read ‘Caffeine Blues’ first, by Stephen Cherniske – ‘Wake up to the hidden dangers of America’s #1 drug’. One thing that’s decreased my hunger in general is virtually eliminating carb-dense food like bread, pasta, potato & most fruit. Caffeine is overrated ๐Ÿ˜œ

@excelsior12309 – my childhood dentist was a monster, he should never have been allowed near kids. Once while he was giving me a filling he actually said to me, “move your tongue or I’ll put a hole through it” ๐Ÿ˜ฑ So I just started cancelling the appointments that my mum made. I didn’t see a dentist again until I was in my early 20’s.

@penz – Boo Boo already has plenty of real birds to stalk, don’t give her ideas! ๐Ÿ˜… But, yes, the owl is stunning. I’ve got to have a go at making one of those.

    Happy S๐ŸŒžnday!

    Pocket list – Day 20 ๐Ÿฅš

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Thin I loved series 1 & 2 of Colin From Accounts. Iโ€™ve just finished watching Victoria series 1 & 2 about Queen Victoria and really enjoyed it, Jemma Coleman played ร  fantastic role but was disappointed to find the pay channel doesnโ€™t have series 3. It appears to be only on Apple TV so Iโ€™ll look into to whether they offer a free trial subscription so I can watch the last series.

Also for Thin, yes I do cold showers. I have a 30 minute sauna most days and have a quick cold shower straight after. Not so easy is winter but easy in the warmer months. I do about 2 mins.

Yes still feels weird that MM is no longer with us. I follow Clare on Instagram and she is back posting regularly again. I watched an interview with her the other day, I think it was with the BBC and she is looking absolutely amazing, wouldnโ€™t guess she was in her mid 60s thatโ€™s for sure, looking so much younger.

Had a short 24 hour fast on Friday and planning for a 48 plus hour fast early this week. Have been asked out to lunch this coming Friday to a cafe where the choice of healthy food is very, very limited- the best I can hope for is a soup, just about everything else on the menu is deep fried or options such as pancakes or waffles.

    Day 20, NFD, Aus

I do like the look of the mosaic owl, @funshipfreddie. Will Boo-Boo enjoy having a bird like that to stalk?

I was just saying something similar to OH, @brightonbelle. While Iโ€™ve only been on leave since (โ€œonlyโ€!!) I still love the anticipatory feel of a Friday night. And I realised today, I save all my chores for the working week, even though, really, thereโ€™s no reason I could not do them on the weekend. I have to keep track of which day of the week it is, @flourbaby, if only to make sure I obey the 40 kph speed zone past schools on a school day!

That sounds terrible, @missybear. Were they able to relocate your pension funds? PLUS interest??

Wow, re your friend @michelinme. But, even though itโ€™s admirable, isnโ€™t also soooo frustrating and unfair that men seem to lose weight so much more easily than us women?!?

Ooh I love articles like that. @stitchincarol โ€“ the ones that tell me what I want to hear. Coffee!!! ๏Š Seriously, I wonder if thatโ€™s why I never feel like breakfast; because I have coffee instead?

  • If your clothes are looser but the scales are the same, read on

Oh I love a roast dinner, sadly DH does not! Can’t remember last time I had one.
We went out to eat last night which was lovely, and today had lunch out too so I need to get back on track next week in order to reach my end of October target!
Better luck for next week @annette52, stay strong.

  • Welcome to Outstanding October Challenge!

    Day 19 – NE England – NFD

We had a lovely meal out last night and shared a bottle of red. So good to get out for a treat. Today we have been to visit daughter and granddaughter who live away from here, so another good day but was very bad and had pizza at lunchtime ~ delicious!!
The new carpet is wet in the corner of the room where the radiator was leaking but I think it will be okay when it dries out.
Hoping to shed another pound next week so will be planning my meals tomorrow.
@stitchincarol my husband firmly believes caffeine suppresses his appetite and I tend to agree so give it a go.

  • Welcome to Outstanding October Challenge!

    day 19 third post

Oh, and by the way, I read an article the other day about the lowest calorie foods, and there was nothing miraculous there, but one detail caught my attention: almost all diet pills include caffeine because it’s an appetite suppressant (depressant?), so the suggestion was to embrace caffeine to whatever level is reasonable for your body.

Hmmm…DH can’t do caffeine, so I’ve been drinking decaf for years now, but since he’s no longer even drinking coffee (acid issues for him), perhaps I should switch back to caffeinated coffee. I already have lots of coffee on hand in the freezer–like, at least three months’ worth–but I’m going to embrace caffeine when I can since it never seems to trouble me; perhaps that will be good for one pound every quarter, LOL.

  • Welcome to Outstanding October Challenge!

    day 19 second post

For a bunch of reasons, I’m having a tough day–and the planned OMAD is leaving me HUNGRY. I haven’t caved yet, however, and I keep repeating to myself:

    Food is over-rated.

    Food is over-rated.

    Food is over-rated.

    Food is over-rated.

How many times I’ll have to say it before I’m fully on board is still unknown, LOL.

  • If your clothes are looser but the scales are the same, read on

    Morning All,
Sadly no change on the scales or the tape measure which isn’t a surprise after the week but I was still disappointed. So, I did a 19 hour fast which I broke with fruit and nuts.

Dinner will be a roast dinner which I will thoroughly enjoy. I might skip breakfast tomorrow too, but I will see how I feel in the morning.

  • Welcome to Outstanding October Challenge!

    Day 19 – Rural Nebraska, USA – OMAD – 159.6

So not down another pound on this official weigh-in day, but this week’s WF schedule was just messed up enough that I’m simply accepting I won’t know until next Saturday just where I am, but this morning’s weight is certainly lovely enough to be encouraging.

Another busy day of obligations, so this is all my chatter.

    Have a grand one, everyone!

  • Welcome to Outstanding October Challenge!

    Day 19 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 235 lbs. Oh, but if it were only 205. I had such high hopes at the end of January. I need to review what happened this year that made me gallop in the wrong direction (other than the obvious). Still, little victories, eh? This is the first recorded average weekly weight loss since August for me! Yeah, I gained a little today, as one does after a refeeding day, but not bad. I did have more whole foods yesterday, even though we did go out for pizza at lunch. Yes, there’s still time to get back in the 220s… yay!

  • Welcome to Outstanding October Challenge!

    Day 19-No. VA USA-FD800

Congratulations to all the fasters who have plowed through this past week and showed some self control! Special encouragement to @michelinme, it sounds like you are super stressed, so don’t get discouraged! @northgeorgia, well done! It is not easy to turn things around, and it seems you are doing so. @ccco, definitely be kind to yourself. You have been through a lot these past months. @missybear, I hope your holidays are relaxing and memorable. We need a holiday here, but nothing on the horizon due to work and some health issues with my husband that make travel not fun, if longer than a few hours.
@funshipfreddie, my best dental visits ever were many years ago when my dentist used nitrous oxide. It was like drinking a couple of martinis and then sobering up as soon as the mask was removed. No anxiety at all, and no hangover….
    Have a great weekend, all.

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

HH yes I make the onion gravy from scratch, Dry here at the moment but cloudy. It’s still quite warm though,14ยฐC at the moment. Nothing planned for today my daughter is sending me photos from New York, she’s going on a tour of the city and central park today.

    2nd Post – Day 19

I just realised – the spreadsheet only goes up to the 30th & there are 31 days this month. Does anyone know how to fix it? ๐Ÿ™

  • Welcome to Outstanding October Challenge!

    Day 19 – South Africa ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ – NFD

@missybear – I hate having to take my cat to the cattery too; it probably stresses me out more than her. ๐Ÿ˜ฟ enjoy your holiday ๐Ÿ–

@northgeorgia – 7.5 lb down! Fantastic. I bet you could get below 230 before the end of the month, & start November in the 220’s ๐Ÿ’ช

@excelsior12309 – well done for surviving the dentist ๐Ÿ˜… Although I’ve managed to overcome my childhood terror of even thinking about going, it’s still always a huge relief to get it over with ๐Ÿ˜ณ

@flourbaby – your biscuit preference is, um, unconventional? You love shortbread but hate Jaffa Cakes?! I don’t think I’ve eaten a Jaffa Cake for decades; I’m not even sure if they sell them in SA. But in the past I could quite easily munch my way through an entire packet in minutes ๐Ÿ˜… And who doesn’t love a chocolate chip cookie? But Oreos & shortbread, I can take or leave those ๐Ÿช How’s Sober October going?

Have a good weekend everyone ๐ŸŒค๐ŸŒˆ

  • Welcome to Outstanding October Challenge!

    USA. DAy 18. CD

I wanted today to be a FD but went over, so it became a CD. That’s fine! Tomorrow is another day! I have decided I need to be a little kinder to myself. I think that will help.

@northgeorgia, 7.5 lbs lost! I am so jealous. I’ve begun to move in the wrong direction. If only we could eliminate stress. It would be so much easier! ๐Ÿคช

Hope everyone had a lovely day! ๐Ÿ˜Š

  • The Maintenance Chatbox… come and share your success with us!

Very patchy weather Poll. Plenty of rain, like your summer! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ
I am looking forward to the swimming season to start soon.
You are doing ok. I always have the niggling idea that you gain 10kg in 10 years. That’s what I did. I figure, at my age, I can live with it. ๐Ÿ˜ P

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Evening!
Jean- not good with your eyes, you need to be able to drive ๐Ÿค— Have a good lunch out tomorrow, hope your daughter has a good weekend off…good luck fixing the decking tomorrow.
Nana- excellent losing 3lbs so quickly! Sad about the funeral, but your Mum’s friend must’ve been a good age…enjoy your takeaway!
Hemmy- well done getting a pound off already! Glad that Pip’s friend is better…I’ve not read the Atomic Habits book, but heard it’s good!
Dave- hope you get some more dry days! Did you make the onion gravy for Denise from scratch?
Got Mum’s stuff sorted, she moaned alot about it all but it’s her idea! We saw youngest yesterday, he’d been to a house fire, the neighbours thought there might’ve been children in the house so they had to search it, luckily they were all out…Took a neighbour to A&E to get her plaster checked after she’s broken her arm, sat for 5 hours, it only needed someone to have a quick peek! Impromptu FD though as I had no dinner! Gave the kitchen a good clean as I had a haircut today, have to tidy up now she comes here! Feeling quite tired, had a late night…

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

    Evening All..
Sorry been busy having lunches out two days on the trot and am meeting Jacqui tomorrow..
I must try hard next week no weigh in for me.

I am going for my pre cataract assessment on the 30th, I canโ€™t believe how my eyes have deteriorated. I struggled driving to meet my friend yesterday on the motorway. I am legal to drive but felt strange. I shall only drive local from now.
I canโ€™t read my book. I struggle on the phone, I have it heavy black print but not everything comes through on the heavy writing. Itโ€™s making feel a bit off with myself.

    Dave..
Nice and dry here the last few days but high tides today, a lot of paddling through deep puddles.

    Nana..
Well done on 3lbs off.. glad the funeral was as good as can be, people dwindle as we all get older quite sad really.

    Hemmy..
Well done on you 2 lbs offโ€ฆ I am struggling at the moment.
I have bought screws to mend my decking, I thought it might be rotten but the guy at the builder merchant said itโ€™s all treated so shouldnโ€™t be rotten. I must put the battery on charge for the drill and see if the screws work.

    Have a good weekend everyone

    Day 18 – NE England – NFD

The central heating trauma continued this morning but it seems all is fixed now.
We are out for dinner tonight, I feel like I need it. Wine will be welcomed after a dry week but probably not dessert.
I will be mindful with my eating over the weekend. Hopefully another successful week coming up.
Average daily steps this week ~ so far ~ 18,600! ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿปโ€โžก๏ธ
    Happy weekend Team.

    Good afternoon everyone Xxxx

A welcome dry sunny day here but rather chilly.. at least dry.

Pip and I had a lovely walk with MaryAnn and little Wes ..he has bucked up had not been well and worrying at 13 yrs .. These dogs are so very resilient and seem to bounce back.

I have lost a pound of the 2lbs gained this week so I am happy with that..

Well Done Nana on losing the 3lbs.. brilliant.

H H .. hope your Mum got sorted easily with her legal stuff…. hopefully she can relax now.

Dave… I think a todo list is a good idea if you do it lolol I am being lazy this week I cant seem to get going.
I am rereading a book called Atomic Habits.. It suggests a stacking system in your mind .. You stack things to b eone daily one after the other so in the end its automatic..getting things done . I just need to get started again. lolol Try it.

Sym .. hope all is well with you Xx

Have a afternoon everyone.. โ€œYouโ€™re only given a little spark of madness. You mustnโ€™t lose it.โ€ Xxxx

    Day 18 Wales ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ท๓ ฌ๓ ณ๓ ฟ NFD

Good FD yesterday but no change on the scales yet this month, although clothing does feel looser. Next FD will be 31st, next weigh in on 1st November when I will assess the holiday damage ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. I will be mindful in my food and drinks choices but it is a holiday and we will be dining out, so any gain will be tackled in November.

@iona72 hope your carpets didnโ€™t suffer too much damage. I can sympathise, DH and I have had one of those weeks when things just kept going wrong. Perhaps itโ€™s the way the planets are aligned ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿคฃ

Iโ€™m really looking forward to packing my bags and getting away for a while. Not looking forward to taking our cat to the cattery though, only thing I donโ€™t like about holidays.

Keep on keeping on everyone, Iโ€™ll be back for the final day of Outstanding October ๐Ÿค—

  • The Maintenance Chatbox… come and share your success with us!

So I’m not the only backslider! I was steady in 131 lbs for over a year. I’d be happy with that, but an all-inclusive holiday and being greedy has given me 135 on times.

    How is sunny Australia?

  • Welcome to Outstanding October Challenge!

    Day 18 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 233 lbs. My four-day FD500 marathon has ended for the weekend. Lost about 7.5 lbs of weight; so it’s a good reset. It has reminded me of making better choices: limiting processed foods, choosing healthy whole foods for meals, eliminating snacking… because food is so overrated ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • The Maintenance Chatbox… come and share your success with us!

As Herm says, Mr P and I had a great catch-up with her and ‘er other ‘alf. Herm is looking wonderful!
    Hi Polly
Sorry to hear you have the same issue as me. Life has thrown too many curve balls at me in recent times. I am sitting too high for my likes, but at least stable. I eat healthy food that I’ve learnt from the Fast Diet mob, but I no longer fast regularly. I CAN easily do it, but just don’t. Life’s too short to fret the small things.
Nice to see at least some of the old mates are still around. ๐Ÿ˜Š P

  • Welcome to Outstanding October Challenge!

    Day 18 UK CD

I blew yesterday’s FD800 by eating a WHOLE PACKET of assorted mints! it was mindless, tired eating of the sort I’ve managed to swerve since climbing back on the waggon on 2 September. O well. I’d bought them in homage to my mother who would always buy me a ‘treat’ the weekend of the conference, and these were her favourites. My first conference weekend … I’m still going through all the ‘firsts’ since my mother died in January.

Notwithstanding the above – and despite my successful FD and FD800 earlier in the week and drinking lots of water- I’m still hitting 187lb / 85kg, and my fat suit has stayed the same size as last week. I need to hold on to the shrinking face and baggy clothes, and remember that something is happening EVEN if I can’t measure it. Because this WOL works. Dangerous times for motivation call for extra attention and mindful choices…

I got v little sleep last night as I ploughed through pre-conference things that normally I would have done days ago. it’s been a busy time and I’ve made a point of keeping balance in my weeks so I’m a bit behind, but nearly there. Looking forward to a speedy finish, long bath and early night ahead of the full on weekend. But it’ll be fun, encouraging and over by 5.30pm Sunday for another year!

Congrats all who’ve stuck to FDs, swerved temptation or climbed back on the waggon this week – hat tip to @northrgeorgia for your FOUR FD reset! @at @jaifaim I hope all’s well with you – do jump in when you’re ready, we miss you

Onwards and downwards. Holding on to those longterm goals, stepping over this pebble in the path.

  • Welcome to Outstanding October Challenge!

Day 18, London, UK, FD800…………. maybe

I say maybe because I had a biscuit!!! Shortbread, like red wine is practically impossible for me to swerve! The kitchen cupboards in the office are bulging with yesterday’s delivery of jaffa cakes, shortbread, chocolatey oatcakes, milk chocolate digestives and the fakest of the fakest biscuits ….. Oreos!!! I can feel smug at swerving them ALL ……… EXCEPT the shortbread!!๐Ÿ˜ฉ

On the bright side my lunchtime salad has been delivered & it’s minute!!! I used to have a large salad which would be my OMAD, this one is like a side salad & despite precise ordering, they’ve daubed it with balsamic vinegar!! I’ll bring soup next week and bury my FOMO & love of free food!!๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ

Back to the grindstone, I’ll catch-up & comment over the weekend hopefully!๐Ÿคž๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿฝ

  • Fat Busting Brits!!

Morning everyone, a lovely sunny one after a misty start.
Hope everyone on here are keeping well.
Was please to see a loss of three pounds when I stood on the scales this morning.
The funeral on Wed was a lovely tribute and celebration of her life. Was nice to catch up with some of mum’s old friends but their numbers are sadly declining.
Will carry on with the daily 18:6 1300 calories as it seems to be working for me ot it might be due to the fact that I’ve not had any alcohol since last Friday ๐Ÿ˜‰
Indian takeaway this evening and my turn to drive.
    Have a good weekend everyone.

Survived the dentist in good shape. He replaced an old filling under which there was a cavity. He is very fast and skilled, so it was as good as could be expected. Yay.
@iona72, you are inspirational. As is @funshipfreddie, and @michelinme, and @stichincarol, persisting even though hungry! “Food is SO over-rated” in the words of @northgeorgia.
    Have a good weekend, all!

I’ve logged back on in desperate and hope that the site will help me find a bit of discipline. Weight is creeping up due to those little treats and greed.

My BMI is showing at 24.5. That’s a heat really as I didn’t alter my height to its new shrunken figure

Herm, that’s a very impressive weight. How is everyone else doing?

Day 17 – NE England DTF IF 16:8

I was very pleased this morning when the scale showed an all time low!! Not much further to go to hit my target, at which point I will re-assess if I’m going into maintenance mode or setting a new goal. I will seek the opinion of the coaches on my Programme. I’ve been very hungry today!!

Issues at home today with the central heating, its been quite stressful, why didn’t this happen before we had a new carpet fitted.

Off to bed soon to try and forget about it. Well done everyone who has Fasted today, onwards and downwards, we can do this!

  • Welcome to Outstanding October Challenge!

    Day 17 UK FD800

Successful extra FD800 yesterday! I was extra motivated by the fact my friend who is doing 12 week FD800 has lost 10KG (!) since 1 September. He started on medical advice due to high blood sugar and is keen to keep going for the full 12 weeks. Hopefully his success and perseverance will be contagious, helping to keep me competitive and focused.

I have got so bored with weighing in at 85kg for the last 13 days. But miraculously a tunic the next size down seems to fit me now, so I’m not going to complain too much. Looking forward to tomorrow’s weekly weigh-and-measure day to see if I’ve shifted a tiny bit lower. I’m reminding myself to stick to the plan – it works, even when I can’t see the scales budge, and there’s always something I can measure ๐Ÿ™‚

Today’s FD800 food has been late lunch of hardboiled egg and a tomato; early supper another corn on the cob, the butternut squash/sweet potato/pea dahl I made last night with quorn fillets for extra texture plus a clementine and an apple. I’m HUNGRY today and have a lot of work to get through with a deadline of tonight, so I’m going to have to distract myself so as not to go looking for snacks. And keep drinking LOTS!

On the brighter side, I had a lovely time going into town for haircut this morning. Leather Lane was its usual lively self and I love my haircut – quite a lot shorter and much curlier – while my hairdresser gives the best hugs ๐Ÿ™‚ My enjoyment of my haircut will last a lot longer than the tiredness from pulling a late night to catch up – and I can have a lie in tomorrow!

I’ve caught up with posts and am very happy to be with you but commenting will have to wait for next week.

    Day 17 Rural Nebraska NFD

The conference starts in ten minutes and I just read through all the posts, so I feel up to date. I wanted to report on my success yesterday: I lasted until 3:15, when some hunger and lots of brain fog and a general exhaustion made me realize I needed food. I ate some of the leftover pork chops, some leftover chicken fajita mix (less the tortilla) and estimated it was perhaps 250 calories, or even less. Then, amusingly, I was STUFFED. That lasted me the whole rest of the day, but I forgot the scale so have no idea what sort of magic number I hit this morning.

The conference includes a dinner at lunch time and DH and I are going to Alley Rose (in Kearney, look it up), so there will be no fasting today, but I’ve swerved the sweet rolls on offer with the coffee.

    RESOLVE!

Hemmy I’m thinking of a new year’s resolution,I never do them but I might do a list like yours, sound a good idea.If I could tick one thing off the list each time I’ve done it. I’m hoping to have lost weight on November 6th. The sun is out today much better than yesterday. It will make a change to go for a dry walk, got soaked three times yesterday.

    Day 17, London, UK, FD800,

I had good nightโ€™s sleep last night, Bo-Bo was sleeping ON my feet and he didnโ€™t do his usual 3 a.m. wake-up call!!

If it was me @missybear it would have been wine vs tantrum vs murder!!! You made the right choice!!๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—

Iโ€™m certainly getting there @stitchincarol,๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ I found some time to get a FD800 menu sorted out and I really donโ€™t have to think too much now, so at least thatโ€™s one thing off my plate!๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

@northgeorgia, stay focussed, the results are fantastic & should motivate you to ignore whatever invitation, treat, temptations comes your way!!๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

@funshipfreddie, please, Please, PLEASE mosaic the front door โ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆโ€ฆ. then send us a picture of Judge Judy โ€˜s exploding head!!!!

You retirees are making me jealous, I canโ€™t wait to be disorientated by forgetting exactly what day of the week it is!!๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿคฃ

    Ok, work awaits!๐Ÿ˜ญ

    Day 17 UK FD

2nd FD of the week and looking to set myself up for a mindful weekend

Ha ha , one of my favourite sayings is everyday is a weekend @ccco @funshipfreddie but yes holidays etc can be very disorienting I quite often need to check exactly what day of the week it is , and even after 13 years retirement I still love that Friday feeling

    Good list today

  • Welcome to Outstanding October Challenge!

    Day 17 – South Africa ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ – FD

I was not on my best behaviour yesterday. The line-dancing got cancelled at the last minute, due to maintenance/painting going on in the residents’ lounge. So I went on a bit of a shopping spree – mostly at the mosaic shop – & then had poached eggs with two enormous slices of ciabatta, smothered in mushroom sauce. And things sort of went down-hill from there food-wise. Today’s FD will be a good one ๐Ÿ’ช

@penz – I made a couple more coasters last night. You can’t have too many coasters ๐Ÿ˜… I just finished grouting them.

@flourbaby – you’re right, I’ll be mosaicking anything that’s not moving. Boo Boo had better watch out! ๐Ÿ˜… I couldn’t open that link either without subscribing; but thank you!

@excelsior12309 – there’s nothing in our rules that says you can’t transform your front door into a work of art, & I do love a challenge. But Judge Judy might disagree. Watch this space! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

@ccco – I’m not crazy about those mid-week holidays either. They are a bit disorientating, & living in a seaside town just means there’ll be day-visitors everywhere. Even when I was working, public holidays & weekends just meant more work because I was in the leisure industry.

@stitchincarol – I’m going to leave the pot at the studio for now. I’m busy with coasters for the bedrooms & then I might work on an owl.
Here’s one Natalie – mosaic teacher – has in her garden, + a couple of mushrooms she’s made. Enjoy the conference!

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

It sounds like some of you are bracing for a very hot summer. We had our own little heatwave yesterday with the temperature reaching 19C. No coat!

Neil, you are doing SO well. It’s fantastic to read of your ongoing downward trajectory with so few bumps in the road. I had to look up, ‘The Hangover’ and noted that Bradley Cooper was in it. I’ve just seen a movie with him in – A Star Is Born. I really enjoyed it and before that, I didn’t even know what Lady Gaga looked like and I couldn’t name any of her songs. I’m so out of touch. I thought they were both very talented actors and singers.

A few months ago, I was recommending, ‘Colin From Accounts’. It’s an Australian series. I just wanted to say, don’t bother with series 2.

Quacka, B2B fasting! I’ve never tried it. I hope it goes well. Does your OH do any fasting?

That dentist is still practicing. He goes off the radar for a while and then pops up in another suburb. He trained in Perth and is now in his late fifties. The dentist that said he had fixed lots of his mistakes told me, ‘he’s a nice guy but he just shouldn’t be practicing dentistry’. That dentist ran for the hills when I needed someone to testify on my behalf. The name of the Thai facility is Bangkok International Dental Centre (BIDC). https://bangkokdentalcenter.com. I understand it’s a big leap but it’s always good to have options.

We watched Dr M’s, ‘Just One Thing’ the other night. It was about the benefits of a 30 second cold shower – or any cold water immersion. Has anyone tried that? It’s still so sad to think of his untimely death.

    Day 17, FD, Aus

After the day youโ€™ve described, @missybear, you deserved that bottle of wine!

Ha ha โ€“ I could so picture those random Dali-esque mosaic ideas, @flourbaby. What about the edge of a kitchen bench as well??

I love that phrase โ€œthe cascade of consumptionโ€, @excelsior12309 โ€“ I know it all too well. And youโ€™re right, silverbeet is not a beet at all! Iโ€™ve never thought of it like way beforeโ€ฆ. English is such a funny language!

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

    Afternoon all

I’m not sure what it was, perhaps the rare day of nice sunny weather, but I had a real burst of energy yesterday. I rode my bike to and from work, did half an hour of gardening after getting home, cooked dinner, then did another 90 minutes of gardening. Hopefully this keeps up.

  • Hello Southern Hemispherites!!

Good morning everyone from a very warm Melbourne with mad thunderstorms forecast.

Gday, sympathy for your weather, I am girding myself for a dreadful summer, but I am pretty sure a dreadful Melbourne summer will be easy compared to your area.

Suzy, yes! The year is flying by!

And yes, I also agree that our digestion changes as we age, getting less and less robust. We do need to enjoy how good it is at the moment as it is never likely to be any better!

And another thing I agree on is salads for summer! I find those salad vegetables so cooling, I don’t want them on cold days.

    Enjoy the dance festivals!

Quacka, sympathy for the cost of the crowns, but I think that when I got mine they were more expensive and probably not as clever and long lasting as they make them now. (Before I had even heard of dental l tourism like Thin’s).

I hope your B2B fast day went as well as the first one. On a roll!

Neil, yes it sounds like a bump not to worry about. best wishes for a good week this week.

    Best wishes everyone!
