  • Hi I’m a newbie. I really hate cooking! My family all work different shifts etc., so cooking & planning is a bit of a mare at the best of times.
My question is this… Would it be ok do you think if I eat the same food every fasting day ( poss boring I know, but it won’t bother me). My plan is porridge! For both meals, breakfast (with a small banana) & at teatime. It really fills me up so hunger won’t be an issue & this way I’ll know how many calories I’m having.
I’ll then have plenty of healthy proteins on non fasting days.
    Could it work?

Yes it could work but could be boring! What about porridge for brekkie and a shop bought soup for dinner? Covent Garden, Glorious Skinny soup… lots of brands do low cal ready meals. Good luck!

Hello Fudge and welcome. My fast days are a bit boring and follow a similar pattern. I have home made porridge with fruit for breakfast and for my evening meal I have a Marks and Spencer Ready Meal. Their “Better For You” range and “Count on Us” meals are simply streets ahead of many other diet ready meals both frozen or otherwise. (4 mins in the dreaded microwave). The Count on Us Pork dinner at under 300 cals is very good and actually gives a good idea of how a low cal meal can fill a small dinner plate.
Finally, I make myself follow the K.I.S.S. principle…. Keep It Simple Stupid. Works for me but we are all different.
    Good luck.

I do similar. I have a cuppa soup at lunch every fast day. My dinner does change but I have 4 that I always have. I am quite new and if I get bored when I have been doing it a long time I will look at other options. The fact that I can have such a range of different things on normal days, means I am not bored yet.

Thanks everyone! I’m going to give it a whirl! Means I don’t have to think too hard! Lol.
I will def look at the M&S low cal meals too! Thank you for the advice.
Hope you’re all doing well 🙂
