  • Just read the book and feel inspired.

Starting tomorrow and hoping to drop a stone and gain some energy as I’ve felt very lacklustre of late. I’m also hoping it will help me manage food better on non-fast days as currently I’m in the habit of continual grazing, even when full, even when it gives little pleasure – just because of habit and a lack of will-power (and sometimes to deal with stress).

Maybe not ideal timing as my wife is away for a few days and I’m home alone with 2 of the 3 kids but I’m determined to get started and don’t want to wait. I’m not expecting the first few fasts to be easy but I’m hoping that when I get into the swing of it it will be as doable as the book says.

Good luck in your new journey – I have lost over a stone in 9 weeks and am feeling great – it really does work so stick with it.

I am a terrible grazer too – even after 9 weeks – but I find that 4:3 as opposed to 5:2 allows me to eat what I want on my eating days – that being said I do do a lot of exercise to counter act all this.

I personally leave my calorie allowance till the evening – it allows for a big meal that I can both plan and look forward to.

Think of looking after the kids as a benefit – they will keep you busy and secretly plan your day so that you don’t take them out to the park (or similar) until the hunger pangs really hit hard – I love the bit in the book that says no one has ever felt hungry as they are about to throw themselves out of a plane on a parachute jump!!! When the hunger kicks in use that time to go to the park – keeping busy and away from temptation!!!

Don’t nibble on their food when you make them something!!!

The first fast days are the hardest – they do get easier.

4:3 works for me because if I do fail once each week then I am still completing 5:2 – this has happened twice.

Read my blog to see my journey – but leave this until a hungry moment – might be something to get your mind off food… just skip through the bits where I talk about food!!!!

Richard – many thanks for your reply.
I’d started a list of things to do on Fast days that will keep me occupied and have added your suggestions to that – including taking a look at your blog, which I will do.
