    Decided to give the 5:2 diet a go. Got to the point where I’m fed up with my weight and the effect on my health and wellbeing. Got approximately 2st to lose to back within a healthy BMI but would ideally like to lose 2 1/2st.

    Planning on doing a Monday and Thursday pattern with meals at dinner and tea. Never really been a breakfast person so not really bothered about eating first thing and also seems to make me hungrier if i do have breakfast.

    Going ok so far on first fast day, had a decent portion of soup for dinner and plenty of water / green tea, prawn salad planned for tea.

    Excited to see how this goes as restricting calories on a daily basis definitely doesnt work for me.

    Good luck first of all – and welcome to the circle of 5:2-ers!
    I too fast on Monday and Thursday and although it has been tough going today, Im not overly uncomfortable and will make it through till bedtime! I also have lunch and tea – it suits me better too, not to start eating too early.

    I think part of success has to be your mindset on fast days. If you think too much about it as a fast day, then it becomes more difficult but it you try to put it out of mind, then things ease considerably. However, the occasional stomach grumbles will remind you!

    I congratulate you for taking things in hand and starting to do something for your health. This regime seems to be the easiest to incorporate into a permanent lifestyle change.
