Thanks for that K-Lo. Will give the pancakes a try. Yes we too are overwhelmed with tomatoes in the garden. I make a sort of ratatouille with onion and courgette with a little olive oil, herbs and salt and pepper in the actifry. So sad when all this harvest comes to an end.

    London Day 15 FD

36h water fast. So far so good with lots of water and black coffee. Maybe have a beef bullion a little later to get me through the hot yoga class after work.

K-Lo your chickpea flour pancakes sounds lovely. I have some chickpea flour left over from when my sister made vege pakora for a party. I had no idea what else to do with it – now I know! – hope you don’t mind me nabbing it 🙂 1/4c. is US cups and you do 50/50 with regular flour?

Pissupoosa, yes, 1/4 US cups and no other flour. 100% chickpea flour in my pancakes.

Day 15: Gloucestershire (Cotswolds) UK: Non-fast day.
Thanks you for all the birthday wishes and other kind words. What a great group you are!
Yesterday, as predicted, I DID eat on my “fast-day” BIG TIME! I held out for about 22 hours till mid-afternoon…..then stuffed my face!
Amazingly when I stepped on the scales this morning I was back at my goal weight…happy birthday ME! Don’t know how that works, when other times I’m two pounds UP after a 36-hour water fast. Weird! Anyway, it made a good-feeling start to my day.
Pissupoosa: Good luck with your 36-hours on water only. It’s such a morale-booster when you succeed after feeling a bit defeated previously.
I’m not sure when I will next fast, at the moment.

    Day 15 USA FD
174.8 lb. this morning- up 1lb from 2 days ago. Hope to keep this FD under 400 calories. Coffee and water all day then low calorie dinner. Long work day so hope I can stick with it.
Went walking yesterday – only about 30 minutes but that’s a good start.
Trying to stay positive. There does seem like a wall keeping me above 170 lb.. This has been going on for many years. I make progress, even made it to 169 but only for a day, and then I just quit weighing in and gain the few lbs back. Reading everyone’s posts is helping. Thanks to all posting. I read and appreciate every word.

    Day 15 USA (Illinois)

FD today. Since I did a liquid only FD 2 days ago, I will go with salad supper with some grilled shrimp on it. Schwan’s (frozen food home delivery for those who don’t know it) makes a delicious garlic herb shrimp that is only 100 calories for 14. I throw them in a skillet with some sliced portabello mushrooms and top my salad with that. Very tasty!

Busy day – lots of details to complete. Adios for now!

Come on Patty 67 we can do this. We are not going to stop. 5:2. A little bit of yo-yoing can’t stop us! Just really working on your non-fasting days you can get in some of that chocolate bread and fruit just be mindful of the amounts and make sure you don’t go over your tdee – I’m pulling for you.

    Hi,

What haha, my mum stop feeding me most likely never would. Just have to stop popping around there so often. With work social life eating out. Eating home. And eating at mums does add up. Amazing how it can all add up. Can easily eat my way though dinner, a pack of biscuits at mums and then go out with friends for takeaway.

But, have been doing pretty well. Have been making a large salad every morning and eating that with proteins are good fats though the day so im getting there. As long as i dont add anymore weight and im over the moon. Thats what i love about this diet. Most diets cut some foods totally out. Over time end up snapping and pigging out even harder. And adding the weight back.

Riding the bike, i sure am. Old trustee is still going strong had it for well over 10 yrs now. Need a upgrade really. Have a dedicated room for it now. With plenty of motivational posters. Il have too upload some pictures to Instagram

Thanks, for all the great support. And wish you the best of luck with your fasting life style. Truly the only and best way too keep healthy and on track

    Day 15|FD|Toronto
Best regards and encouragement to all. Last 2 NFDs have gone well in terms of remaining <TDEE but I want to enjoy food and not constantly think about calorie content, guess that is all part of the learning process.

Day 15 USA FD additional post
So happy I made it 2 miles on my walk this morning. Working my way back up to 4 miles.
Don’t give up, no matter how you feel at the moment – it will change and you’ll feel joy again.

Patti67 Just remember a little bit of the real stuff is a whole lot better for you mentally and physically then all the faux stuff we eat. Chickpea flour flatbread doesn’t even sound good let alone taste good

    Day 15 Edinburgh UK.
Fast day went well yesyerday until my OH brought out the sourdough bread and cheese, I succumbed! But today has been good with a 25k bike ride, avacado for breakfast, ham salad for lunch and beef with cauli rice and veg for supper, well under TDEE. I’ll weigh in the morning to see how I’m doing. I would like to do a fast day tomorrow but we have our grandson for the day and promised to take him out to lunch, so no fast day!
I am finding it easy not to have breakfast most days though may sometimes have an avacado or some cottage cheese. Its amazing how doing lots of exercise doesn’t make me hungry, I just drink lots of water! I’ve really got to work on not being tempted by bread! Thank goodness I havent ot a sweet tooth
    Good luck to you all.

Day 15 USA NFD one hour workout with weights

Doing pretty good but I ate a small piece of chocolate cake. It was so good. I also had a spring roll wrap (fresh, not fried) with chicken and veggies. And a veggie salad. no more food for me today.

Day 15 USA FD additional post 2
I’m at work now and sipping on ice water with fresh lemon, stevia and a dash of hot tabasco sauce. Kinda reminds me of the water, cayanne pepper, lemon juice and maple syrup fast we used to do in the late 70’s LOL
I felt so outrageously hungry before I left for work I had 2 eggs cooked firm chopped up with a pile of raw organic spinach. It seemed to do the trick…. now I’m content with my ice water mixture… hoping I can keep this up for another 7 hours till I get off work. When home, we will steam a big batch of low cal veggies and find some protein… maybe a few thin slices of the Maui grass fed beef I have in the frig. it’s super thin sliced for terriyaki so maybe not too many calories.
Hope I’m not boring you all with more info than anyone cares about. I feel so relieved that I might make this FD a success and stay under 500 calories… just had to share.. Hope you all are having a good day or evening… whatever your time zone. It’s so cool that we are all around the globe and sharing such an important life changing process. Amazing!

    Day 15, Minnesota, USA, NFD
Healthy food choices all day, and not over TDEE, but no FD yet. Maybe tomorrow. Stayed within an 18/6 hour window of eating. I’m just about done for the day, at 6 pm. It sounds like most are doing quite well. Congrats on your weight loss, Anna6, and you’re almost at goal! Maui, congrats on increasing your walking distance!.. I hope you feel proud of yourself.
    Good luck to everyone.

Aussie day 16 back into FD’s lost 1.4 kilos this week haven’t been able to do that for a while My Mum passed away in August 96 not a bad innings. Another day of gardening keeping myself occupied.I read the posts every time i stop for a break love to see everyone’s triumphs and challenges and words of wisdom thinking of you all.

Sunshine Coast Aus Day 16: supposed to be an FD. Today is my grandson’s 8th birthday. He must have been up at the crack of dawn which meant we were all up. We are going out to dinner down at Maroochydore at their new favourite yum char restaurant. Not sure what I’ll have to keep me under 500 calories. Probably some sort of clear soup. Have to admit that my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
I’ve been talking about the struggle to get below 104 kgs and how I get back into the 105s. But I’m still resisting the ice cream that everyone else had last night, the meat pies they all had while I had a coffee, the chocolate they are eating every night in front of the TV. I’d be up to the 123.9kgs again if I gave in to the food that has been consumed in this house and when out to lunch with family from Melbourne. OH and grandsons had ice cream cones from a place called nitrogenie, apparently the best creamiest ice cream my husband has had in years. AND I RESISTED😇😄. Yes, we are answerable to our fellow travellers on this thread and gain strength from that. So whilst I’m hovering, I’m not hoovering as I usually do at this stage of the weight loss spectrum. Thanks everyone.
I kept meaning to wish you a Happy Birthday Ciren2 and Happy Anniversary HannahW. Feasting and fasting. What a life.

    Croatia, Day 16, FD
    Weight:77.5 Kg

    Gozo, Malta

Just an early post before I go away for the weekend. I won’t be posting tomorrow and on Sunday DebbieQ.

I weighed myself again and I’m 66.9 kilos up 0.4 kilo from yesterday morning. As with others I think it’s fluids that the scale registers. I’m wearing clothes that didn’t fit me before and I feel good. These coming three days I won’t be fasting but will hopefully fast next Monday. NorthernDawn thanks. We’ll all get there if we persist enough.

Good luck everyone. Stay strong and we’ll get to our target weight.

    Day 16 Italy – FD
Yesterday ate right up to my TDEE, had a bit of a blip in the early afternoon but managed to stop myself in time. Not long ago i would have just kept eating since i had ruined the Day. I think that the fact that we arte all still here despite all the setbacks and bad days is amazing. On another diet i would have already given up, have put back on all the weight lost and probably added some more as well.
Maui i really enjoy your posts, please don’t think you’re boring anybody. I think It’s this honesty in sharing everything good and bad, that makes such a difference for a lot of us. it makes me feel Human and gives me strength when i’m down, and hearing stories of success make me know i too can achieve my goals. Thankyou each and everyone xx

    Day 16 Australia NFD
Very successful fd yesterday. I have no real idea how our bodies keep or lose fat, despite the information I have read. As my body seems to do just as it likes. One week a couple of months ago I was super vigilant following the 3500 (or whatever the number is) calories less to lose 1 lb. I had been on a plateau for four weeks so I had three fd’s that week and and kept my whole week to 7000 cals and didn’t lose a gram!! I often do three fd’s a week in the hope that it will help move me that little bit more. This week I have done two fd’s only and after first fd weighed 700 gms less and after the second fd I lost another whole kg! So 1.7 kgs this week! Seriously who knows. There are all sorts of things that could add up, I normally exercise 5 x every week and haven’t been able to last week or this week as I’ve had bad back pain. Also had TOM last week. Anyway, I’m very happy with the result but it seems to just come in its own time. Probably won’t move again for another six weeks. 😉
    Good luck everyone.

Congratulations, you maybe be slightly rusty but your be back walking 4miles soon enough. Keep up the great work

Day 15: Pacific NW USA, 20:4 NFD

Although I did have BPC and chicken broth it was a successful try at a kind of 20:4. Tomorrow’s plan is my standard Friday liquid 36 hour fast. So here I go, nothing after blueberries tonight at 9:00 PM until Saturday morning breakfast at 9:00 AM and then we walk to the farmer’s market.

I am empowered by all the varied thoughts and shared stories in our challenge group but most of all because determination is the common theme. Empower – “make someone stronger and more confident especially in controlling their life and claiming their rights”. That is, you all help me claim my right to a healthy life!

    Day 15/uk/NFD

Breakfast.. Home made Salad with 3 small fresh backyard eggs

Lunch… Home made salad with a tin of sardines in tomato sauce

Dinner… Boiled potatoes steamed vegetables with lemon and pepper fish

    Day 16 – Switzerland – NFD
Still feeling grotty so rolling my FD to Saturday. Couldn’t face much food yesterday. Chores are done, kids off to school so I’m going back to bed. Urgh.

Day 16 / Australian in Asia / NFD

Good afternoon everyone. Well yesterday was a FD and I was convinced I wouldn’t make it. Managed to water fast until 6.30 dinner (it was a HARD fast day) then had a small dinner of stifry chicken and veggies. I was so hungry at about 9pm and just wanted to inhale the contents of my fridge, but I found some carrot sticks in there (yay for preparing then forgetting) and so managed to finish the day at under 250 calories.

So happy it’s Friday. I didn’t break my fast til lunch, with about a 200 calorie lunch, won’t eat again until dinner and Friday is my night OFF so after my healthy dinner there will be chocolate (in moderation) and wine (in less moderation)in front of a DVD. Sometimes the thoughts of my Friday nights are the only thing that gets me through the week – especially yesterday when I said “fine. Blow your fast day. But you aren’t having any wine or chocolate tomorrow night”. I’m so glad weak self listened to mean self.

Have a great weekend everyone. May we all remain at least moderately in control until Monday.

    Day 16 NZ NFD
Full on frantic day at work. Had first food at lunch just some soup and cheese. Did have milk in my coffee which I don’t normally do.
Dinner was a kebab because it’s Friday and I couldn’t be bothered cooking.
Had a typical Friday licorice all sort mini binge which is not good but also not unusual. I take heart in the fact that I’m not fond of alcohol so I have no trouble with the wines etc that others gravitate to so often.

    Day 16, Australia. NFD

A busy 18 / 6 day with a bigger meal midday and a plate of veg at 6pm. The bigger plate was a very naughty yangos, it’s a special threat I have 3 times a year at food festivals.

Surrey UK Day 16….weighed this morning and up by 900g. I had a feeling that might be the case, because for a while I had no access to the posts. I am actually surprised at how very supportive the posts on this thread are. We are all in one way or another in the same boat, and when we get shaky, just looking at what everyone is doing is so incredibly useful, so a huge THANK YOU to everyone. New day, new start!

Day 16 / Tweed Coast Australia / NFD

Hard day today. Car troubles, angst, over exertion and resulting fatigue combined to unleash a hunger dragon. I’ve eaten more than I otherwise would, though am happy with the choices I made. Stuck to low carb wholefoods.

I second your accolades for these posts, Norrie!

    Day 16 USA (Illinois)

NFD for me. Breaking my fast shortly with whole wheat bread French toast and 2 small sausages. Managed a good FD yesterday despite some busy times and details of life. Woke up to seeing 162 for the first time in many years on my scale! Will do a measure shortly.

Going with a friend to The Piano Guys tonight. She is on a very strict diet (no gluten and lots of other issues) so we won’t go out to dinner first as eating out is hard for her. Probably a good thing so I won’t overeat today.

Elphaba (you’re no evil witch from Wicked, I can tell) I also love red wine with chocolate. Dark of course.

    Here’s to all our successes!

    US, Day 16, NFD.

Stayed within TDEE and had a good workout last night.

Pissapoosa and Patty – A postscript on the Chickpea pancakes. If you are rushed in the mornings, you can mix the batter the night before and refrigerate. I made them this morning after not having had them in a while. Delicious! I added a splash of olive oil to the batter too.

    London Day 16 NFD

A successful 36h water only FD yesterday. Also managed a hot yoga class after work with no ill effects. Thank you all for the encouragement and inspiration. I feel my body is slowly starting to get used to the long fasts.
Today’s NFD is also good. I’m resorting to a salad with a small chicken breast for lunch as I’m meeting a friend for dinner.

Thanks K-Lo, I shall give the pancakes a try over the weekend 🙂

    Have a good weekend all

    Day 16|NFD|Toronto
FD yesterday went well but my scale this morning shows a slight uptick(85.8kilos)from last reading 2 days ago.
3 NFDs and the weekend ahead of me! Weather has cooled noticeably over the last couple of days, along with the shorter days, so I wonder if my inner “caveman” has slowed my metabolism with the signs of autumn here. Best wishes to all.

Hi all day 16 UK dithering if this should be a fast day or not – feeling very tempted at the moment but will see how it goes. Got my bracelet on so will try to dig deep and keep going even if I have a small evening meal rather than liquid only. I will try and keep thinking if I decide not to surrender, that is strength.

Talking about bracelets, someone was asking recently about them – I sourced mine from the internet, a silicone band. As it was a one off it wasn’t cheap but mine is bright pink with black letters so really stands out and it says what I requested. You could make one up from beads with letters?

FISHINGGRAN – so sorry to hear about your Mum – sadly they can’t go on forever.

DMW2 – I am impressed with the change I detect in attitude and determination. Well done!

Remember – challenges are what makes life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.

    Day #16/USA/NFD

I should be making this a FD as yesterday’s sort of fell apart. It was still low calorie, but not fasting low. Oh well….I will give it another go on Monday. Weekends are much too social to even think about scheduling a FD.

Hope you’ve all had a good week and wishing you a great weekend!

Day 16 USA NFD walking 4 miles this morning. Staying with my daughter’s children while she and her hubby are on a trip. Ages 15, 13 and 11. Lots of soccer games and hockey practices to keep up with as well as homework. They have lots of Costco food to keep them full but I haven’t had a problem with it yet. Keeping focused. I get them off to school and then go home to exercise and shower. Back to their house when they get home from school. I start with classes next week so it worked out to watch them this week.

    Day 16/PA, USA/NFD

Doing very well for vacation; I’m so very thankful for the Fasting Diet!

    Positive thoughts to all!

Day 16: Gloucestershire, UK: Non-fast day (yet another).
Ate out this lunch time, to meet up with our daughter near Reading. It was a rare catch-up and a birthday meal for me. I had grilled salmon in Thai sauce, mashed potatoes and salad, followed by ice cream (3 scoops)…large helpings and probably quite naughty…but, hey-ho.
I will TRY and make tomorrow a fast day, as I’m at work keeping busy.

    Day 15 – 16, Québec

Yesterday was a FD. Everything was going fine untill around 9:30 pm when I fell in the nachos. Always the same pattern for me. Nightime is my downfall.

I have to be very carefull cause I’m loosing my motivation about all this. Will start reading the posts more attentively. I normally helps me a lot.

Today is a NFD and I will do my best to stay under my TDEE. I will take note of everything I eat.

    Cheers everyone.

    US Day 16 NFD
Fishing Gran… So sorry about your mum. She certainly lived a long life at 96! My mum will be 91 in February.. still going strong health wise, but her memory is starting to go.
Fuvvie… Good on you for resisting. I go through phases of finding it all very easy and then finding it all very hard.
Elphaba… that’s great motivation to behave on a fast day. I should do that too.. have something to really look forward to at the end of the week.
Quebecoise… don’t give up now!!! I have the same problem in the evenings. I’ve started to go to bed earlier or work on a project or a puzzle.. anything to keep me away from food.

    Have a great weekend all!

UK 16 NFD – managed yesterday’s fast day, and extended it until lunch today. I didn’t feel too bad, but I’d got a lovely lunch planned, so went for it! I think I might try extending my fast next week until tea-time the following day and see how I go.

    Dear DebbyQ

Awwww, thank you so much DebbyQ for your support. I’ll try to imagine you doing a puzzle at night. Maybee it could help lol !

    Day 16 Edinburgh UK
NFD very pleased with the scales this morning a loss of 2.5lbs! Not sure how especially as that was after my morning cups of tea!

Today we had our 3 year old grandson for the day which started at 6am! I’m not a morning person but one has to enter into the play! Train set out and set up, hard on the old knees and works the imagination! Good walk along the trails playing hide and seek, Grandad being a T-rex! Now a quiet time, he is exhausted and asleep (and OH!)! I will have a glass of wine soon, think I’ve earned it!
Will probably have some cheese and oat cakes also!

NF weekend ahead with another grandson’s birthday.

Maui not a boring post love to hear what people eat and their daily experience on 5.2, so many diffrent foods I’ve never heard of! I have to google loads!

Fuvve – amazing self control well done!

Queb – don’t lose heart, you’ve done so well stay strong!!

Good luck everyone have a happy weekend!

    Hi all, Timbo here……… Day 1 /Australia/NFD
just gotten back into 5:2 & proper eating
had a few months off due to dodgey back, physios best friend and pilates galore
now need to shed a few kilos … about 10kg … done it before
keen to get in shape for a long cycle adventure coming up

    Day 17 Australia NFD
Getting in early today as it will be really busy and don’t want to forget. I have a market stall at my community market for cakes and such. Funnily I didn’t even want to taste any as I was baking yesterday. This WOL is changing me! Have a great day everyone.

Sunshine Coast Aus Day 17: NFD: Going to lunch and dinner today for 50th year reunion of old scholars from school. Even though I weigh 30kgs more than I weighed then I won’t be the only one looking somewhat more portly 😂 Thanks to 5:2 I’m a better wright than in April. Grateful for that. Hope it will be a lot of fun. OH was in the same class so no probs there. Tomorrow he leaves again for a month. Will miss him. He helps out with the carer role when he’s here. I’ll miss that. He helps me to be more tolerant. Have a 2 hour drive so better start getting prepared. Doing 26:8.
Fishing Gran: I’m sorry I was rabbiting on when I was the next on the thread to your telling us about your mum. It really is hard losing your mum. All those memories she has taken with her that you can’t tap into any more. And those lovely hugs. My heart goes out to you. Take care.

    Day 16 USA NFD
Yesterday’s FD was probably not under 500 but maybe not too far over. Today I’m waiting to 1pm to have my first food other than Bullet Proof coffee and water so It’s a 16:8 NFD. Hopefully that will make up for going over 500 calories on my FD yesterday. Now that we are on the second half of our challenge I feel like it’s going to go quickly and I better watch it closer so I can reach my goal. thanks everyone.

Day 15/16 USA. Yesterday and today are NFD. Keeping within my TDEE. I am going out to a dinner and a show. I plan to make wise choices but things change once I read the menu. I may have try a FD tomorrow. The scales are not wanting to move down but least it’s not going upward. Wishing a great weekend to everyone.

Day 16, Minnesota, USA, 8:00 pm, FD
Fasted on liquids only: coffee, tea, water, bone broth for supper. First FD since the 8th. Will not eat until noon or so tomorrow, as usual. Eating healthily and low carb yesterday made all the difference for a successful, mostly easy FD today.
Weight this morning was 142.6 lbs, same as last week, but less than 3 weeks ago, so meeting goal of “Hovering” around this weight for awhile.
Fuvvie: love the “Hovering, not hoovering” comment in an earlier post! Also, I think it must be very hard to have your husband gone so often and left on your own to be your mother-in-law’s caregiver. You seem a very, very special person.
Fishing Gran, my condolences on the loss of your mom. Prayers for comfort sent your way.
Elphaba: My “weak self” needs to listen to my “mean self” as well! I laughed when I read that! I look forward to Saturdays the way you look forward to Fridays. I hope you’re enjoying your wine and chocolate! 🍷🍷
Quebecoise: hang in there. Sure enough you will feel better about things soon, and then you will be so glad you stuck with it. Nachos are a weakness of mine. Try to eat more of the cheese and less of the carb/tortilla chip. It might help. Was it Fuvvie (such pearls of wisdom from that gal), who said once in an earlier post that success comes from commitment to the plan when we lack the motivation? Your FDs and NFDs don’t have to be perfect. You get points for attempting them.
Good luck to everyone. Have a nice weekend!
