Day 15, UK, FD
Feeling so tired this week, I can only put it down to last Fridays drinkfest!
Nearly the weekend and opportunity to rest.
Good luck all

Day 15, Northumberland UK, NFD
Not had a chance to check in and catch up the last few days, sorry, will do that later.
Day 12 FD
Day 13 NFD (18:6)
Day 14 NFD (18:6)
3 good days, and today I give blood hopefully (iron count was low last time) and meeting my sister for lunch so will allow myself to indulge.
Day 15 Newcastle UK 🇬🇧 NFD.
@molij I’m sure somebody posted on here something to combat the sleep problem but I can’t recall what it was. The next night after a FD I’m out like a light I’ve always been a good sleeper.
Day 15, South Wales, NFD(16:8)
@penz – so glad to hear you are safe after the hurricane, and @maayyaa – good to hear your job is safe too.
Trying to weigh up whether or not to attend a food festival this weekend: it’s a great festival, but there will be too many treats on offer I fear!
Have a good weekend folks, whether fasting or no
Day 15 Belfast 🌦 NFD 🐢🗡🍷💪
Looks like there is another atrocity in London as I write this. What is this world coming to? Thoughts and prayers to everyone involved and hope no Fellow Fasters are involved.
Had a lovely Chinese meal last night with a couple of glasses of Pinot Grigio. Tried to eat and drink mindfully.
@laurealice – I’ve never heard that term. Is usually see a chiropractor or a physio, but would be interested to hear how you get on.
@steffieagle – good to see you back and glad you had a good times with no ill scale effects!
Great to see you back unscathed @penz
– Dry winos I’m following your progress and am so impressed. Keep strong all of; you’re half way there! And @johnnyr enjoy those beers – 3?….
@maayyaa – I think today’s outcome deserves a celebration.
Off to do a 7 mile cliff hike this morning with OH and YS. Hope the showers stay away☔️
Enjoy your day everyone.
Day 15, Belfast, NFD
FD went ok yesterday. Lots of water and tried to keep busy.
Mum’s not too well and had to go to A&E with my sister, but she’s grand. Bit stressful though. At least I didn’t turn to chocolate. Or toast.
I got back from my holidays at the start of September and was 12st 5lbs. Weigh in this morning and I’m 11st 9lbs. I haven’t even managed to get back to my proper swimming sessions this month as my mum was in hospital for 2 weeks, nor my regular yoga class. Maybe this was holiday-excess weight as I really did indulge lol 😉 Happy with this, and will now try and maintain the downward trajectory.
Anyway, good luck today everyone, have a good’un!
Day 15 – UK – NFD
@penz – great to hear you are back with us
@belfastsink – great news you kicked 9 lbs in such a short time, well done for getting back on board so quickly, sorry to hear about the family heath problems
Happy Friday everyone! Yippee it’s the weekend!
Day 15 UK FD
YOU ARE LOOKING GOOD. EVERYONE OF YOU! 🙂
Keep smiling, as that helps us humans feel better.
And give yourself a big pat on the back for your efforts. Many people don’t bother trying. Remember you’re in it for the long haul, not a quick fix.
And if the God of the weighing scales doesn’t smile on you one week, it is probably busy shining on someone else that morning.
Your plateau will not last, as long as you carry on your fast!
For those intrigued by the 3 beers. Unfortunately the meet-up got cancelled, so my ‘experiment’ got cancelled. I might try it next week though, just to see if I can do the self control thang! 🙂
A dry October might be interesting if anyone’s up for it? But to be honest I don’t really drink that much anymore. A glass of wine in the evenings midweek is a thing of the past. And weekends are limited.
In fact, I meant to share this with y’all last week but forgot. My nephew with Downs syndrome turned 13 last weekend. His birthday treat was a visit to the Ice Cream Parlour with friends and family. His two favourite vices are Coca Cola and ice cream, and we have to hide or not buy either to limit him in this as he can basically find any hidden in your house when he visits.
So this was a real treat for him, and a fabulous colourful busy place to experience – a real attack on all your senses! I didn’t order anything! I didn’t feel like eating ice cream / waffles / pancakes smothered in sauce and sprinkles. Sure I nibbled a few bits others left, but not much and the sweetness was not nice. As I live and breathe I never thought I’d be able to do that. I’d even accounted for it in my eating/exercising last weekend so that I could eat. Given that I can still muller a large bar of chocolate on a NFD, and chew the odd snack when very hungry, I am still amazed I didn’t actually feel like it.
I know this diet is reported to alter your taste buds/cravings. But I was always a bit sceptical. What are others’ experiences of this phenomenon?
Day 15 – Woking, UK – NFD
237.2lbs
Not up to date on posts as I arrived home about 11pm last night and went straight to bed.
First weigh in since Monday and I’m pleased to report I’ve hit 2 big milestones. Firstly I’ve now lost 20lbs since I started this WOE on 22nd May. Secondly I’m back under 17st – 16st 13.2lbs to be precise.
Really pleased with that as it means I’ve hit my target for September already so now I just need not to bounce back up.
Day 15 Wales NFD
Half way through the challenge already and all is well. @johnnyr – yes I’m also finding it easy to stay good on NFDs since starting the 5:2 WOE as I don’t crave unhealthy foods…..just the wine!
Happy Friday everyone x
Day 15….. Florida…..FD
Ugg! Irma made me gain 3lbs, okay maybe it was a hurricane but clearly it was me, myself and I. I really need to buckle down!
@penz…… So, glad to hear from you, my friend! Glad your safe!
I’m still catching up with posts, so please forgive me if I’m not on top of things yet.
@krisnia……. please don’t change your plans to come to Orlando. Here’s why…… the state of FL relies heavily on our visitors. I would say it’s probably more than 50%, of the population( I dont know the exact figures) work in the tourism industry. No visitors, no income. We have got to have fine folks like you coming down to enjoy our sunshine to help rebuild our communities and keep us strong! Bad weather will never keep Florida down. Plus, I’m sure when you come down, you’ll never be able to tell well at least in Orlando.
The keys and Naples area may take a bit longer but they will get there too!
Again. Thank you for all your kind words of concern and prayers!
Good news…. my DH, while off from work, he’s going back to work today….. planted some more cukes! So maybe will get some pickles this year!
On wards I go……
My husband told me to stop acting like a flamingo, so I had to put my foot down!
Day 15, Gozo Malta, nfd
Penz so happy you and your family are safe. Welcome back.
Maayyaa so glad you still have your job.
Today I’m eating out this evening and for lunch I’m having baked eggplant and onion with canned tuna fish, bread and olive oil. Not the best choice but I look forward to it.
For tomorrow I prepared a salmon and broccoli fish pie to be baked tomorrow from the fridge by Mary Berry.
Granddaughters are better and I’m babysitting them today and tomorrow morning.
Have a great Friday everyone. Onwards and downwards.
Day 15– Colorado USA– NFD
WhooBoy! Yesterday was not Controlled at all.
Coming off 4-day Fast, I went a little bonkers on snacking. Normally, I do not snack at all. Keep my calories inside my planned meals (makes for fewer number of times for blood sugar/ insulin to spike & then crash in a day.) But yesterday I just had NFD munchies. Which I smothered with Doritos & McD’s French fries. ☹️ Oops!
Today is a new day. Fresh start. I’m not throwing in an extra, unplanned FD as punishment or penance for slipping yesterday. Just giving myself a mental pep-talk, as I would to a good friend, then moving on.
My goal for September was to finally break from weight in 150’s down into anything 140’s. Hit that!!
(@Liathanail Congrats on hitting your milestone too!). Now I have 2 weeks left in the month to solidify that. Make sure I’m solidly 140-something & not bouncing back up again. Would be awesome to finish month at 148. There’s still time!
Feels great to be making progress again!!
Day 15, US, NFD
Good FD yesterday. I’m one of those people who prefer not to eat anything (if I do, it awakes the hunger monster) but last night I was craving flavour. Not sure who suggested it – probably lots of you!, but I made up one of those hot water and stock cube soups. Wow! I was so impressed with how tasty it was!
Well done JohnnyR. Great “side effect” of 5:2 is the decline in craving those naughty indulgences.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Day15 Chester UK FD
So another incident in London this morning. Sometimes I don’t recognise this world at all. Yet we still have this brilliant world wide group here all supporting each other. So thankful for it.
Fortunately today my ” Lunch and learn” meeting was cancelled as I was stressing about how to cope with it, without offending the hosts who are an organisation I’ve never worked with before. So back to the office for my trusty apple. Prawn omelette and salad for tea. Need to be really mindful as we’re away at the cottage next week till Thursday. Somehow 5:2 doesn’t seem that important there, pocket winos I’ll need your support as my oh still thinks we’re on holiday every time we go down there which in his mind means a nice glass of red with tea!
@penz so glad you’ve back home safe. @maayyaa you must be so relieved, its horrible when people you know get that bad news.
@liathanail – get you meeting September target already. Brilliant news.
Happy weekend everyone.
@penz Thank you for your praise.
But is it all good? Where do I get my kicks now?? 🙂
It’s like there’s something missing when an indulgence goes. If you’re familiar with the Harry Potter books/films. It’s like Voldemort losing a Horcrux.
Day 15, Rocky Mountains, US, CD
Oh boy, after my physical yesterday and seeing that I was 55 kg on my doctor’s scale with all my clothes and shoes on, I decided I wanted a pizza. I ordered a large Pacific Veggie Pizza from Domino’s, had it delivered and indulged. Today, of course, the scale tells me that I am 1.4 pounds up. No surprise there. 😄😄😄
Aiming for a controlled day today. It is raining 💧☔ for the first time in a long time…..might not be able to hike. Temperature dropped significantly.
Also, Symphony Season 🎵🎶🎻 starts today. Looking forward to a wonderful concert.😊😊😊
Have a good Friday everyone! 🌺🌻🌼
Day 15, Reykjavik, NFD, -2,0 kg
This morning handed me a pleasant surprise; 2 weeks in and my weight is 2,0 kg (4,4 lbs) down from 1. September 🙂 This is quite astonishing considering that last Monday (11th Sept) my weight was up 0,4 kg in September after a heavy weekend.
Although I have been extremely strict in my diet this week I never expected this result. This sets me right on course for my goal of losing 4 kg (9 lbs) in September.
I´m thankful for the 5:2 program and this forum to keep me motivated and on track. I´m a happy man today and will try my best not to f… everything up this weekend 😉
Keep on trucking!
Day 15 – USA (UT visiting) – NFD
Doing just fine on maintenance. Yesterday’s new Silver Sneakers class had a terrific teacher. Each class and teacher is the same but different. Doing some balancing exercises, I thought of you @coda, and your one-leggedness! I go back to my normal Friday class today. I do enjoy the exercise I can get out here. Despite rain today and cooler weather, we are going to the BYU/Wisconsin football game tomorrow. Hopefully at least it will be sunny. DD and I will root for WI despite both of us being Illinois alums… Go Big Ten!
@saffy420 – so sorry to read about more terrorist trouble in London. Makes me shake my head about how and why people get that way. If it’s not weather, it’s crazies. Awful.
@redrockgirl302 – yeah for you and your physical! Pizza is always a wonderful treat. I agree.
@bert1802 – Yes, Florida people will indeed bounce back. I wish the best for all of you.
Onward and downward.
Day 15–ABQ–FD
Yesterday’s FD turned into a NFD thanks to an impromptu beer with friends, so I’m making up for it today.
I don’t crave junk food so much as food food. I think that the reason I eat so much on NFDs is that I’m just really hungry. Maybe that’s my body telling me I’m done losing weight. Maybe I should switch over from 5:2 to 16:8 full time. Is anyone else doing 16:8 exclusively?
Day 15 – McMinnville Oregon USA – FD
It’s a very scary world to wake up to this morning with a missile over Japan and another bombing in London.
Yesterday’s CD went a little different than planned. I had 2 eggs over easy a short stack of buttermilk pancakes and one piece of bacon for lunch. It added up to almost 900 calories so no dinner for me. 😞
@penz – Finally we hear from you, so relieved you are well. I too was glued to the tv.
@snowflake56 – 💝 (((((Hugs)))))
@maayyaa – Good news!! 🎈🎈
@bigviking – Ditto that!!
@at – Thank you for the encouraging words. Yes we did self inflict. 😐
@big_bill – Hang in there buddy!!
@belfastsink – You are an inspiration!! 🌻
@johnnyr – I enjoyed your story of self control with your nephews outing. Good job!! I’ve found my tastes changing too. Sugar is often cloyingly sweet and I definitely get full with much less food. All good stuff!!
So many success stories, you are all an inspiration to me!!🎈🎈
Day 15, Emden Germany, FD
had to catch up on posts so my reactions come a little late but from heart.
@penz so glad you’re safe
@maayyaa great news, we didn’t hear about any problems in the oil-industry in Germany, the Germans aren’t very interested in other countries.
@mari84 well done being so brave and telling your family, it makes life easier if you don’t hide things for the ones so close to you.
@brightonbelle what are they going to do about your sister’s aneurysm, did they say anything about coiling?
@steffieagle and @belfastsink you both did really well on your holidays, will try not to gain on mine (just another 10 days)
Dear @coda, @at and @awilson thank you so much for the thoughts and hugs. I was the one that wanted to retire next april, without me, my husband has to close the practice, it was hard, but I just can’t do it physically anymore. Yesterday evening was the first time he said he’s glad we’re going to retire, sometimes he just can’t take it anymore. Yesterday we had a really hard evening, he had to send another patient to the hospital, it just doesn’t stop. We have 4 docters to back up when we’re having our holiday but the ones that can get really ill do have my husband’s cell phone number. It’s fine when they call because it makes them feel safe, but sometimes it’s just too much.
No news from London here, I hope not too many are injured.
Today we had the first day without any rain, we did a little bit of food shopping in the Netherlands (onehour drive)and then went to our favorite second hand shops to buy some books, well we got 42! So now I’m going to have a look at them, have no idea what my DH bought, he mostly buys cookbooks and comics.
Have a nice weekend everyone and @lynned enjoy the food festival!
Day 15 Lancaster PA USA NFD CD
Sorry, I have not been able to read posts for a week. As soon as I get a chance I will catch up.✨😊✨
Well, I’ve been very busy with my Dad’s health situation. We traveled to NC. He has 3 issues with his heart. Congestive heart, atrial fibrillation, the left side of his heart beats faster than the right ( which he was born with). He is some what stable now. We drove 8.5 hours back yestarday. I and my DD and DS will be going back again in a week or so. Depending on what procedure or new med. the cardiologist prescribes. My Father is being monitored and with mobile monitor that is attached to his chest, an EKG, taking and recording his heart beats and blood pressure. He is able to walk around with the monitor on.
All Prayers, Hugs and Good Wishes are welcome✨
Day 15 plan
280 cals in noosa Blueberry yogurt
Then not eating till dinner. We had previously scheduled an Evening out to celebrate our 30th wedding Anniversary. We are eating out right before Hubby and I go to see the comedian Trevor Noah and eating in Hershey PA, at a very fine restaurant before we go to the show in Hershey, PA this evening.
I have the September spreadsheet on my phone, but I can’t seem to update it. Any ideas as to what I need to do? I may just need to load it on my lap top. When I get a chance, I will.
Wishing everyone a very Good Friday and a Happy Weekend as well.✨🌈✨
Day 15, London, UK, FD (3rd of B2B2B2B)
Out and about all day today, just finished catching up on posts, so I’ll breakfast within the hour making it a 23:1, then I’ll close the kitchen.
@penz, Welcome back, safe & sound!!!
@awilson, I reckon I could manage one bottle from every winery in your area, no problem, and it would only take 17 months…………….. 1 bottle/ day is reasonable isn’t it!!!!! @bigviking, this was NOT a stupid idea, your liver is loving September, however………………………… this month is dragging soooooooo slowly I could cry!!!!!!
@johnnyr, unfortunately if you combine sugar with flour in any way, shape or form, I’ll devour it, what can I say…………. I LOVE cake!!!! Chocolate I can take or leave, unless it’s slathered on a biscuit, ice-cream – not really my thing, unless it’s in a cone. I can definitely sniff out a sugar laden floury carbohydrate ANYWHERE!! I think ‘nibbling a few bits’ would have awakened my dragon, so my biggest lesson from 5:2 is NO nibbling, tasting, trying, testing or buying THAT stuff – ‘cause my dragon isn’t quite house trained yet!!!!!
Stay strong everyone, I’m aiming for a whoosh this week, so currently sloshing around with 2.5L of water in me!!!!
2nd post–
We are such an international group that I feel like any time something terrible happens in the world we need to have a check-in here on the forum. That being said, Penz, please don’t apologize for being ‘selfish’ in your time of crisis! Do you need me to send you anything? A jar of peanut butter? 🙂
Please Bert1802, Penz, whoever else is in or near a natural or man-made disaster, please let me know if you need anything more substantial than moral support. And to Flourbaby and other Londoners, same.
Day 15 – Cumbria UK – NFD
Lovely 7km hike this morning – beautiful sunny Autumn day……
Ate to just above TDEE today as weight this morning remains well below target at 53.6kg/118lbs
Busy day tomorrow at a fell race doing registration then timings at the end so will be out all day but with good company and hopefully the weather will be as good as today!
Hope everyone is doing OK and keeping in good health
“I’m not telling you it’s going to be easy. I’m telling you it’s going to be worth it”
Thanks Keetseel – you had me giggling at the offer to send me peanut butter. What, just one jar?! Seriously, thanks but we are very fortunate in getting through this hurricane with no harm done at all. My peanut butter (and Vegemite) stocks are intact. But maybe Flourbaby could send me all that wine that’s not being consumed this month!
Hoping to volunteer around the neighbour this weekend as others have not been as fortunate.
Day 15 – SW WA USA – NFD
@liathanail & @happymargo – congrats for hitting September targets already!
and @tenoro – you’re on target to reach you September goal – woo-hoo!
@Okaydokey – thinking of you as you help your dad work through his health challenges. It’s hard being so far away at times like that. (((hugs)))
And enjoy your Anniversary celebrations!
@snowflake56 – may things settle down for you in your practice. (((Hugs))) to you!
Off to family stuff after school today, about 6 hours away for the weekend. Will work on the control piece while enjoying the people part.
I’ll try to remember that together we are stronger!
Day 16 – Tokyo, Japan – maybe a FD … 81.9kg
I wasn’t planning on fasting today, but have an opportunity to at least fast part of the day.
I’m just back form China. Food was much improved over my trip in the 80’s. I was able to eat a good amount and a wide variety of vegetables and plenty of fresh fruit, although mostly limited to pineapple and melons. I did drink some juice which was probably better than drinking tea with massive amounts of sugar added to it. I even ended up drinking a can of coke yesterday. (Working lunch.) The company hosts pushed hard to overfeed me. They thought I was on the thin side. However I’m sure they were comparing me with other Americans from my firm. In that group I am on the thin side. If you compare me with Japanese … I don’t come out so well.
However my weight is reasonable considering the lack of fasting, spotty diet and limited exercise.
Sorry I haven’t read any posts. I try to catch up later.
Day 16, Norway NFD (although hopefully CNFD)
Good morning, Saturday. Went to my mothers 62years birthday yesterday and se served pizza, wine, beer and snacks. I hate some slices of pizza and coca cola zero…and one handful of tortilla chips…thats it…and i was feeling stuff enough 🙂 my OH gained 2,5kg, haha…so i guess he over ate and over drank 🙂 he says: no worries, it´ll come off during the weekend.
The downsizing numbers are now in the media. We were told we would lose 70 people, now the numbers turned out to be 40 i Norway, were as 25 people in my building, 4 in my office-corridore…so all in all, it turned out better than expected. My company has offices in Houston/KatyTexas, Alabama (Mobile) and different places in Asia, and even in Germany too 🙂
Actually we also have a lot of people commuting from are neighbour-community, Aust-Agder, where Arendal is. Really funny, oh so small world. 50% chance your ex works in my company, and 50% in my neighbour building…the two biggest oil companies lyes only a few meters apart.
Well, today I’m off to a girls day out with some friends, going shopping in Evje, a small place a bit north of Kristiansand.
@mari84 Thank you so much for the Miso!! It arrived safely yesterday. Im looking forward testing this during the weekend, and definitely on my Monday FD.
Happy weekend everybody.
Day 16, UK, CD
We’re goign out for dinner tonight to celebrate my wife’s birthday and as a farewell dinner for my oldest who is heading back to Uni tomorrow. So it can’t be a B2B. However, I won’t break my fast until the dinner. And then tomorrow will be another FD. Hopefully I will be rewarded on the scales come Monday!
Have a great w/e everybody!
Day 16, London, UK, FD (4th of B2B2B2B)
@keetseel, thanks for the offer – my choice would be fruity & red – can you guess what it would be??, @penz, unfortunately the vast quantity of wine stockpiled throughout September has just one destination – there will be NO sharing!!! Perhaps you guys need to cut out the middle man, the wine Keetseel would send me could be diverted to Penz?
To all those close to, or making their target….. CONGRATULATIONS!!
I really struggled last night watching Masterchef after the kitchen was closed…………….. a chocolate digestive or 4 may have jumped into my mouth!!!!! No beating myself up about it, I’ll just be extra vigilant today!!!
@bigviking, enjoy the meal, stay strong & dry ………… eating out for me = wine!!!! I’ve officially become a hermit, whatever works I say!!!
We’ve passed the ½ way point so stay strong everyone!!!
Day 16, Northumberland UK, NFD
Gave blood yesterday with no I’ll effects, which is very pleasing as last time I tried my iron count was too low. Also I know my local donor centre regularly misses their target for my blood type.
Indulged in cake and ice cream but otherwise relatively controlled, so although over TDEE I’m not feeling run down or bloated today. Also added some amaretto tea to my stash for a variation to my drinking. 😊
@johnnyr I’m sure you’ll find some new indulgences. Rather than a whole bar of milk chocolate, a small bar of dark chocolate now is good for me. Different ice cream – carte d’Or do a dark chocolate one that’s not as sweet…. I had some lovely lime and courgette cake yesterday, quite fresh on the palate rather than sweet.
