Pearl barley

  • Am I missing something? Pearl barley seems very low in calories – 34 per oubce – and has a low gi. But it makes a vegetable soup a filling fast day supper. Could say the same for split peas. Too good to be true – or does the satiation negate the benefits of the fast?

    No, if anything, it will make your fast a great success, because you will feel fuller, longer, which will in turn help you to stay on task on fast day. Sounds like a great idea to me! I’ve done this for almost 15 weeks now, and I have found that any healthy ideas like that are a great help, and doesn’t interfere with the fast at all.
