  • Having started IF again has made me realise how I’ve put my weight on. I cooked my son’s dinner and resisted the overwhelming temptation to eat the crisp, succulent skin on his chicken thighs, finish off his potatoes and veg too. I also resisted ‘helping’ him with his maltesers (Thursday treat).

I’m enjoying the feeling of my body repairing itself and scooping out the fat I have gathering around my middle and disposing of it.

The feeling of achievement and success I have when I wake up the next day is what motivates me to carry on….that and the fact that I’m nearly a stone heavier than I was when I was 38 weeks pregnant. I have to laugh at that otherwise I could weep!

My advice to anyone doing this….drink lots of sparkling water, eat really slowly and focus on what you’re eating. Don’t think of the weight you’ll lose, think of the health benefits.

I have a pair of jeans I used to be able to wear and pull down without undoing them. Now….well…..now I’m lucky if they get passed my knees.

Congrats! Small achievements make big results. Good luck!

thank you very much. i’ve lost 1lb already this week and feel fab. fasting makes my mood better and i feel like my body is repairing and i love to hear my stomach rumbling too! Interesting programme on bbc2 last night about dieting. The 5 2 diet was on there and it was recommended. I have a big holiday in florida this July so need to lose 2 stone minimum!

I thought about this post last night when I got home from work and went to change into comfy clothes… and lowered my work pants without bothering to unbutton or unzip them! SWEET!!!!! Progress!

Well done! That’s my goal too!

Being Sarah, what a great post! I agree that succeeding on fast days is extremely motivating!

Hi ellarose. This is the only diet i stick to because of the high protein and health benefits. Those jeans of mine will be worn again, even if the are out of fashion!

Ahh I’d love to get my jeans on without undoing them! Think I will aim for that as well 😀 I’ve only been doing this since the beginning of the year, but feel so much better already, and I do look forward to my fast days, its like a cleansing and repairing day 🙂 Stay strong and good luck!

Being Sarah – I’m soooo with you! I was this weight at when i was 5 months pregnant and even crueller is that I was more than a stone LIGHTER than this when i went back to work after mat leave. unfortunately the draw of office ‘picking’ and the lack of me pushing a pram around most days has taken its toll. So I have to laugh or else I’d cry too.
On my first fast day and whilst I’m not hungry right now this afternoon is going to be tough! (had a boiled egg and a banana so far….)
    we can do this!

    Hi shortwife
my jeans are hanging up and im so determined to succeed as i need to wipe the smug look off their face. Yes, i imagine them being real and they snigger when i so much as look their way!
2lbs off so far. I tend to ‘panic’ a bit after my only meal which i have at midday because i get hungry for a bit but it soon goes.
My aim is for friends to tell me i look gaunt! Wrong i know but id like to know what that feels like! X

Hi Being Sarah – I started at the beginning of the year & was amazed at the feeling of well-being I get the day after a fast day ~ glad it’s not only me who experiences this! Instead of sitting at work feeling the January blues, I actually feel HAPPY! Just lovely! 😀

Oh me too. I have a lot more energy, mental and physical. If I’ve had a couple of wines of an evening, the day after I can feel quite irritable. Weird!
2lbs off this week and my work trousers are looking a little loose. I’m going to Florida in July so will not be blending in with the Americans, that’s for sure!!

Good for you! You’ll have to splash out on lots of new clothes to show off your great new shape!!

And take old ones with me for the way home!
