the reason I became overweight is that I CANNOT resist temptation/stop at 1 etc…. so the only way I can fast is to have NOTHING to eat at all…just cups of tea really. Is that OK or do the 500 cals actually help with loss?
Thanks

Lots of people on this forum fast all day and eat all 500 calories at dinner, which seems to fill them up fine after having no calories all day. Or were you thinking of no calories at all until breakfast the following morning? I don’t have the data on 36-hour total fasts, who should do them and who shouldn’t and what the effects are.
As Puny says, everyone is different and the diet is flexible, as some people do the two days together, some like me, space it out. I do mine on Monday and Thursday as I love my Sunday roast too much to be fasting on a weekend. Also I think I would faint if I ate nothing on fast days, apart from not having the willpower to abstain from eating anything! I appear to have lost weight on my personal regime, so it must be working for me.

Hi avocado, the reason the 500 cals came about was to make it easier to stick to the plan long term and be do-able, you dont have to have them.
i find going all day is easy but i just can’t sleep on an empty tummy, its amazing how full you feel after 500 cals on an empty tummy. do what works for you, thats the beauty of this plan we make it fit us, not the other way around. xx
