  • Hi All

    Hope everyone is doing well!
I am going to start the 5:2 diet from tomorrow, would have been today but need to go food shopping first!!

Over the last couple of years, i managed to lose 4 stone (approx. 56lb) but over the last few months i’ve gained back about 10lb and i can’t seem to get the motivation back which is really annoying! Also, i suffer terrible with IBS-C which obviously at times makes the scales jump up which makes me feel worse about myself and along with the swelling and clothes not fitting it just gets to me really bad!!

I did do 5:2 once before but only last 3 weeks – although i did lose 6lb during that time.

So, here we go, round 2 and hopefully i stick to it a bit longer and can cheer myself up a bit 🙂

Hi! I’m also new here. I’ve been doing this diet for about 3 weeks and cannot believe how successful I’ve been with it! I’ve lost 2.8kg in 3 weeks and it’s nowhere near as hard as I thought it would be.

I’m fed up with having my weight creep up over the years but cannot restrict myself day-to-day. This diet is perfect for me and it works!

    Very pleased so far!

Hi Annablue! Wow, that’s brilliant!! Well done you!!
What sort of foods are you eating on your fast days? I’m a fairly fussy eater which doesn’t help so have been just really looking at salads with tuna or chicken for lunch and dinner and i also saw some 9 calorie jelly in the shops so will pick up some of them too for a snack….

Well, I love vegetables and I’m the kind of person who needs to eat big and feel “full” and am not bothered by snacking in between, particularly. I’m having either steamed cabbage or steamed cauliflower (around 300-350g) with a bit of soy sauce and for snacks, a carrot and a punnet of cherry tomatoes. I have a normal breakfast (my homemade caramel latte with semi-skimmed milk) and yoghurt. That’s nearly half the day’s calories right there! I’m not too fussed about having the food on the fast days unless I’m really hungry. I am also restricting alcohol to Friday/Saturday and sometimes Sunday. But my fast days are Monday and Thursday. This feels like a miracle to me. I love that I can be relaxed on the non-fasting days.

I’m not worried about having low kcal snacks as I would only be thinking about food if I was bored and I try to keep busy and distracted so I don’t get bored. I will also treat myself with another one of my special lattes at bedtime. Caffeine doesn’t affect my sleep.

Let me know what sort of things you have on your fast days.

    Good luck!

Also, I’m cheating and having around 650kcals per day, but it’s still working, so I’m really happy! 🙂
