  • Milena,

Just do whatever you feel comfortable with, I am pear shaped so I am doing an awful lot of dancing on the wii salsa etc to try to shift my thunder thighs!

I can pop up with the steamer if you want that will get through spring clean in mo time!

    How are you feeling now?

    Audrey

Ginette – Andy has been doing this with me mainly because he is very competitive haha, no, mainly for the health benefits, and the weight has dropped off him. But he does feel better for it and prefers to be thin.

Milena – We have cleaned 3 houses today! 3! I feel fit to drop. Can’t wait for my tea, after my liquids only yesterday. Starving!!

Ginette- yes we are going to try just 2 fast days next week, see how it works.

Photos please on Facebook, it would be nice to put a face to a name 🙂

    Hi Audrey

I have a fabby Polti steamer, best thing ever for cutting through grime, cleans everything to within an inch of its life, highly recommend it, or at least I would if I could remember where I put it, quite an achievement as it’s quite large, bigger than one of those round vacuum cleaner. Which is a wee bit of a surprise as I live in a tiny house, no room to swing a cat. Good job cos when so tried it the cat complained. I have a carpet cleaner too, but I’ve taught the son how to use it, he cleans the carpets, though reckons every six months is ok. Do I tell him he is wrong, or welcome the help. He cleans the bathroom, though I have to nag to get it done more than once a week. On the other hand, it’s no great hardship as we don’t have baths and I clean the toilet everyday, whether it needs it or not . Ha!

OH cleans the kitchen, son does the floor. OH fills the dishwasher, a machine, and does the washing. Another machine.

Not necessarily to my standards, neither know what a duster is, but hey, I live with it and do a clean about once a month.

Happy house – my men appreciate it when I do the clean, gives them a day off, and appreciate when I cook. Which isn’t often these days.

Feeling good, thanks, and I have taken photos.

    Milena,

Think we think alike, I too have a polti bit like r2 d2 ! Also have a vax for carpet cleaning, I get my husband to do that!

If you can get your son to clean anything you are doing well.

We have 2 girls and when they were at home their bedrooms were filthy. One if them now cleans like me the other one is happy like a pig in muck! My oh is quite good at cleaning when I am away bit like yours doesn’t know what a duster us for!

I love to steam clean, if I were fit enough I could do it for a living sad but true!

Glad you are feeling better now.

Ginette are you ok you are very quiet not at all like you?

    Audrey

    Hi Audrey

must say I do like using it, sill have to ask OH whether it is. Probsbly in tbe loft.

I think Ginette is out foday, she’s forgotten her phone, I know

    Milena

We keep crossing posts On the threads I am starting to get dizzy now, yes find your polti poor thing must be feeling neglected now.

My husband always says if there was a fire I would save the dogs first the polti second then come back for him! It even haa a name he is called Paul the polti!

I have had a busy day exercising on the wii game ginette recommended but I have finally completed my first world circuit! I have exercised for 13.5 hours on it. If I don’t lose
weight this week I never will!

Had a good fast day today too Stayed under 500.

    Audrey

    Good evening ladies..
Lond day full of frustrations. My phone turned over and died and with it, all my data. My spare old phone broke as I was trying to stuff the sim card into it. I missed a very important message that may have carried an opportunity for a change of work. Need I continue?

On the positive (and there almost is a positive) I did not turn to food for comfort. I had a non fast day, but had grilled salmon and broccoli for dinner and a halloumi wrap with salad for brunch. At least that’s something to celebrate.

Milena and Audrey, I love the idea of a steamer.. even better, one called Paul. Not any relation to Mr. Paul McKenna who sneaks into our bedrooms every night? Maybe I could have steamed my data clean out of my phone. Humphhhhhhhh!!!!

Anyone is welcome to bring their steam cleaner round to my house. Just across the ocean…..is that too far? 😉 We must all have cleaning on our minds today as I just ordered some non-toxic kitchen & bath spray cleaner. We’ll see how it works. I do have a cleaning lady, but she comes just once a month. I do the in between as it’s just DH(dear husband) and me. How much dirt could we manufacture? ACK!! Then there’s the cat hair! Thank goodness she is a short hair, but there are times when the hair literally falls out of her!

Heading out of work to go to dinner with some friends. Truth be told, I’m more thirsty than hungry as I had a late lunch. I may be a cheap date tonight!

    Have a good night!

    Hi Salma

Don’t worry, just breath – if it’s meant to be, it will find it’s way!

    Re cat hair, Lori

(I’ve shown a fair few cats) wet your hands, and stroke the cat, some folk use s, though perhaps not!

Keep whetting your hands and gently pull the hairs, keep doing it a little like plucking a chicken (I’ve plucked a few chickens) not quite the same but hard to describe. Best done outside of course.

Then use a chamois leather, wipe all over for about ten minutes.

Keeps hairs down and gives a brillian shine!

    Audrey

leaving best advice til last – just googled the number of calories you can use having sex!

If I’d only known this sooner I could have had more magnums – and a delighted hubby!

Something to think of in your wee caravan – apparently you can lose fat through your mouth, but you have to be breathing heavily – I read that on a post on the forum so it much be true!

    Audrey

failing that idea, my VAX carpet cleaner is an upright, blummin’ hard work, you could always deep clean the caravan.

Personally I think a happy husband is always nice to have, especially when you take him shopping.

    Lori

I meant to say some folk use spit, but it didn’t type – now who was thinking up words beginning with S?

    Hi Milena

Yes I would enjoy it. Maybe I’ll take the photographs.

    Audrey

Planning. No idea carry on the same way really. Weight loss I am pleased to say hasn’t been too much of an issue (sorry those of you who are struggling). I am happy to lose 1/2lb a week and don’t want to accelerate this. That is one to two…..not half.

No I won’t be doing three or four every week – two and maybe occasionally three.

I have had withdrawal symptoms not from my phone but from the forum…..also a very frustrating day!! I went to visit a decommissioned prison. It is only open for one day. I went there THREE times and queues were about 4 deep and went into the next road. This was the same all three times. This is a building that I have driven past 100s of times. Maybe not everybody’s cup of tea but I am really interested in historical buildings. It was full of lifers but they got older and no new ones were admitted.

It would have been really interesting.

I am going to have a quick game of golf as my neighbour will be down shortly and then I shall be back as I can see this thread has gone over the page.

    Be back soon…..

    Ginette

Hi all back again. Lori you might like to know that I ended up 3 over par.

You can pop down to me Audrey if you like.

    Hi Milena

Well I have two steam cleaner, the first one does the floors. The other does floors and all else. For floors it is fine for everything else……well I haven’t got that far yet, must try one of these days, I just need a bee in the bonnet day or a good kick up the you know where.

I also have a carpet cleaner, leant it to my neighbour – me I am still waiting for inspiration.

I have howeve got the MOST fantastic cleaning product for limescale on toilets. I had to but 12 to get one….they last for ages so I have given 6 of them away. It probably is the best I have ever used. They only sell them in specialist shops. Friends have thought me really strange when I tell them something for them and then give them a bottle of this. I have to assure them that I am not being critical about their toilet. I once complained about a friend wrapping up a glass cleaner in birthday paper for me…… At least I don’t do this.

    Anyway….I digress…..

    Milena

Nome importantly how are you feeling? I hope you have improved.

Yes, even though they may not clean perfectly it is brilliant that they do clean. I know someone who had had an opp and her husband then split from her went back to live with her while she recovered. He did everything for her. He also did tge housework and hoovering……she complained, why, because he didn’t clean the top of the doors before hoovering.

I know him well and I think that he was so good to her, he really didn’t deserve criticism.

So yes be happy and show that you think they are doing a wonderful job, even if it is not as good as you would do.

    Apple pie

I really don’t have any photos. I may have some old ones somewhere, but I avoid cameras like the plague and before you ask…..no I won’t. I will post some of my cats if you would like to see them.

Hi Audrey very unlike me. I know I was out all day and didn’t get back until about 9.15 and then cooked well burnt dinner, the vegetable which I like undercooked were stuck to the bottom of the saucepan. Still vp chicken was fine and I did rescue some of them. It was a fast day as well and I am only at about 366 calories. May have a small piece of fruit. Kiwi I would think.

    Hi Audrey

I’m so pleased as you have found the surprise….I don’t want to spoil it as other people might try the game.

I’ve only ever been around the world once and then half way around before my injury. Every time I tried to get back to exercising my knee was painful. It is now a couple of years later and hence I am taking things slowly. I really don’t want it to all start off again. Last time stupidly I decided to work through the pain barrier. I thought it is far too easy to give up at the first sign of pain……never again laid up for to weeks and off of work for about four weeks and then on crutches for a few weeks longer. This is why I keep telling you to listen to your body….because I learnt the hard way.

You really deserve weight loss. I have been looking at the vibration plates and I can’t afford one at the moment even from eBay. I would also like to try them first. Stored away in the back of my mind for later. Thank you they have got fantastic reviews.

    Hi Salma

Oh poor you. What an awful series of events.

Luckily my phone and iPad both sync and so the data is on both. What an awful pain as well. I hope another work opportunity comes up for you. Maybe all isn’t lost.

    Hi Applepie

Yes he looks good, just doesn’t look as if he needs to lose weight.

    Three houses…..?

    Cleaning one would be enough.

    Milena

Chamois on a cat, this would have never even entered into my mind. Clever way of getting cats hairs though.

Well I wish you lots of magnums and a happy husband…..

Well sometimes sometimes happens to make me feel so lucky, I have a close friend, he was a volunteer where I worked for three years. He did a fantastic job, the time came that he wanted to get a job and we all wished him luck. He was looking for work when he started feeling unwell and found that he had lukemia. He eventually got a bone marrow donor, he went through a really difficult time but survived it. Then they found he had a missing gene, this was the cancer fighting gene. He was again lucky enough to be the last person to be accepted for a trial drug. This was a drug that had really excellent results and people on this had survived for two years.

Without this drug he would have died within weeks. He has terrible side effects but cannot live without the drug. What a choice he has. He feels lucky that so far he has had an extra year. The future is unknown. I am so proud of him I can’t tell you. My troubles I will survive, I know this….

He is only now in his early fifties. Remember how precious life is and how lucky we all are. We may worry about weight but put this in its place. We can always try again next week. He likes to hear any problems I have because he doesn’t like to dwell on his own.

    Long may he continue……

So sorry to get serious. I promise to be upbeat tomorrow.

    Night all.

    Ginette

Ginette – your friend sounds like a very special person and he is lucky to have you as a friend. I am sure you have helped him through this fight. Good luck to him!
I for one am always thinking how lucky I am. I didn’t have the best start in life but I got through it and wouldn’t change a thing about the life we have now.
An old photo will do if that is all you have.
My OH has been doing the 5:2 with me since January. He has been a bit too successful and is under his ideal weight but he feels better for it. He has lost about a stone and a half. He had all kinds of digestion problems, high blood pressure etc which are now much improved. He doesn’t want to lose any more weight but does want to continue to enjoy the benefits of our new WOL.

Salma – sorry to hear about the loss of your phone and data. That must have caused you so much work.

Milena – you are naughty, but I like you 🙂

All this talk of steam cleaners, I remember my vax being used very rarely and it was hard work. With our tiled floors here all we need is a sweeping brush and a mop. Easy. Yesterday we were finishing off 2 and just starting another 1, so 3 on the go. Should be easier today.

    Enjoy Thursday everyone!

    Good morning everyone.

Ginette, the story of your friend really touched me. It reminds me of an incident I had in 2005 when I was in a clothing shop in London and was complaining to the assistant (who was a tall and very slim lady) that I had gained weight and hated how I looked. She taught me a lesson I never forgot: She said she would do anything to have my problem. Apparently, she had been overweight and rather large, until her daughter got very sick and had to spend a year in hospital where she almost died. The woman had lost all the weight from stress and worry. If the choice was sick son/daughter or fat, we all know what we would choose. Whenever I get disheartened, I remember the story, I remember the blessings in my life, and I shut up (except on this forum, where I moan and complain and you guys graciously listen).

Kind of puts the whole phone fiasco in perspective, doesn’t it?

Have a great one today. It is a fasting Thursday for me so I am wishing all fellow fasters few hunger pangs and an iron will.

Well 2 good fast days and lots of exercise so I thought I would hop on scales to see how I was doing no change! In fact .2 of a lb on!

I know it’s food in transit but it is still very frustrating!

Welcome back ginette it was quiet yesterday without you.

I am away for 8 says from tomorrow so won’t be in touch after then.

I am going to mums for a few days after weekend at the van.

    Have a great day everybody,

    Audrey

    Hi peeps,

Have been a bit swamped with work, so just a quick shout to say hope everyone is ok. Was naughty yesterday, but in a good “controlled” way, no sabotaging of TDEE, had a little gathering after Zumba, a Prosecco was sipped, was pleased and happy.

Agree with the general topic, sometimes we don’t know how lucky we are, and at least have the choice to fast

Hi Audrey, Salma, Ginette, Milena, Lori, Kate, Phoebe, Applepie, Fizzy, anyone else there? wishing you happy fast days. Who was it who said strict on FD’s, less strict on NFD? it’s a great ethos, life is really too short. Thanks for all the support from this forum, could not do it without you 🙂

    PS FD tomorrow

    Morning all
Fast day today, feeling fine – I am amazed how quickly I have accepted this as part of my routine! Which is not complacency, but before starting I thought the FDs would be something to dread and be ‘got through’. Whereas I actually feel a little bit excited. Well, we make our own entertainment in the country, as my old gran used to say…we certainly make our own entertainment on this board! netflix? Pah.

Have a good day everyone, loving your stories and hints!

Just starting my second fast day this week. Also feeling a bit excited and at first i used to dread them – have worked out a recipe for a prawn curry that is less than a 100 cals per 100 grams so that’s supper sorted! I am writing a report all day today and working from home. Writing keeps me engrossed so i don’t feel hunger pangs – actually my main problem is that i get ratty if my blood sugar drops too low so the OH can get it in the neck. Right back to write

    Good Morning Peeps!

Hope you are all having a great day. I’m up and getting ready for boot camp. We are doing cardio boxing this morning which is always fun. Nothing like taking your frustrations out on a heavy bag! It will be a little difficult since we have been having such high attendance, but we’ll manage.

An 800 calorie fast day for me today. I allow a few more calories on a day when I’ve been very active. I sure hope the scale begins to move soon. Cut the sugar and keep moving is my new motto!

    Have great days!

    Hi Apple pie

Yes he is a special person, he was brilliant with my students who have learning difficulties, just the right amount of common sense and great fun for them as well. His wife backed delicious chocolate truffles and cakes for us to sell to raise money for days out for them. We liked to be self reliant and it gave the syptudents a sense of pride to hold coffee mornings and help raise their own money. We paid for the volunteers to accompany us on these and I am sure that they felt truly valued.

I try to help our where I can and also be supportive. This is a time when someone really needs friends who will understand. He has supported me in the past and still does now.

I am so pleased that he is so upbeat and that carries him onwards. He would be really embarrassed to know that I was writing this….. He doesn’t read this forum.

    Apple pie

Steam cleaners are wonderfully easy, they clean better, dry easily and I really wouldn’t go back to a mop.

I shall find a link for you and post it below so that you can read reviews.

Thank you Audrey, I like to be missed!! I have posted fuller answer to you on the other thread.

Have a great time away, look after your Mums they are so special……and give me some time to catch up!!

    Hi Salma

Yes it makes us think. Our journey is still important though. Our struggle is real and valid as it should make us think about our health even more and how important it is to give us the very chance of remaining healthy for a long time. I am only sorry I wasn’t aware of this years ago.

    Hi Ruthee

You will adapt to the blood sugar lowering. Your body will crave it less and its a strange thing that a lot of us look forward to fast days and also enjoy them. I know it sounds mad, even to me but it happens.

How are you doing your curry?

Recipe would be nice. You can also join applepies Facebook page, click on her name and you will find the details on her profile. Here we can post pictures etc. I am not overkeen on Facebook and I only go on there for this.

    Hi Lori

I love cardio boxing, on the Wii I do it without the bag!! A good way to relieve frustrations I agree. I hope the scale moves for you.

    Ginette

    Hi Beldyboop

My sentiments exactly. Enjoy your NFDs although not to extremes. Life is all about knowing where and when to stop. This control is a wonderful feeling.

    Applepie

Taking about steam cleaners. One for you. Last year the Holme was considered a best buy by Which Magazine.

Here are a page of them – not bad either at £40.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_8?url=search-alias%3Ddiy&field-keywords=holme+steam+mop&sprefix=Holme+st%2Cdiy%2C176

Yes, but Ginette, I can’t see the point of them. Am I missing something? I use a mop on our floors, inside and out, and they come up beautiful and shiny.

Ruthiee you are doing great, you just ignore those nasty hunger pangs and they will eventually go away. They just need training. I find I can get a bit ratty too on fast days. Drink plenty of water and don’t forget to include a bit of salt. Yes, come to Facebook, you will see Milena’s bruises.

Kate Eve you too, looking forward to fast days already! Brilliant. How is it going today?

Mousaka chips and salad for us tonight, again 🙂

Today has been pretty good – coffee this am, then water and a cup of home-made clear beef broth at lunchtime seems to have done the trick!

Haven’t done any steam cleaning, so feeling a bit left out! I did sort out some clothes, following the precept of ‘don’t keep anything that doesn’t bring you joy’ which thinned my wardrobe a whole lot I can tell you…making space for all the joyful smaller clothes which are coming my way of course.

Husband got the vibe and decided to scrub the floors (old fashioned manual method) but he is a retired vet so they have to be cleaned to a state of antiseptic surgical cleanliness – which they never get from me, I may say. So a busy day, plus some gardening.

Friend coming for tea, not ideal on FD, but roast beef – I will have some with salad, the others can be a bit piggier.

Feeling positive and inspired and not too PMT-ish – in fact better than usual – I expect the fasting sorts THAT out as well (she says, tight lipped, after a lifetime of suffering sniff sniff…)

Hello All. I know several of you from another thread and am finally taking your suggestion to join this thread as well. As it seems for every other thread that I have browsed or lurked on, here is another wonder supportive group of people.

Brief intro for those who don’t know me, I started 5:2 late January at approximately 151 lbs (hard to tell exactly as my weight fluctuates pretty wildly from day to day and even during a day with water weight), with a target weight of 128 lbs I struggled at first with fast days, but finally got into a good rhythm, in fact I feel a lost too quickly.

I got within a few lbs of my target and then for various reasons the wheels fell off the little red wagon and I pretty well stopped the plan. Last week I tried to get back on track and had 1 successful FD, but couldn’t sustain it. It was a terrible, stressful and emotional week and being a stress eater, I turned around and drank a truck full of wine and was back into my nasty habit of night time binge eating.
I am really hoping to turn this around and I have found that one of the best ways to get back on track is to gain and give support to others through the wonderful group of people who post to the forums.

Also . on the heels of so many recommendations from this thread, I have just downloaded the Paul Mckenna phone app for getting thin. I am another insomniac, so depending on how this app goes, I might try the one for sleep as well.

PS I’m a Canadian, from Montreal, am I correct in thinking that there are a couple of other Canadians on this thread?

    Hi DO

I hope it’s ok to shorten your title! Welcome to the mid fifties although to be honest I am more like a very late fifty hehe!

You will receive a lot of support here, I am sorry you fell/jumped off the wagon but at least you are now trying to get back on. It seems like you have had a particularly bad time lately, let’s hope it’s behind you now and you can move forward.

Good luck with rest of week, I am sure the others will soon welcome you and have a lot better advice than me to give you again welcome.

    Audrey

    Hi. DJ

I think Audrey’s keypad is playing sticky fingers, I’m usually the worst culprit of that, but it keeps everyone guessing.

Good to hear from you, it’s been a wee while. Good to know that you can get back on the wagon after a truck full of wine, I love the thought of that! Sorry to hear you have had a bad time of it, but all things must pass, life is a balance, cruddy times and great times, hope something good comes soon.

Having a bad fast day, my own fault. It’s been a nagging thought that eating loads of muesli, while being full of good stuff, is slowing down my losses. Might be my usual impatience. Logically, thinking this, you would reckon I would ditch the muesli, especially as I have some nice ham and tomatoes for tea. Nope! Had a double helping of muesli – and a double helping is 60 grams. Not a lot on the bowl, but 230 calling, with a little milk. Then son brought in some red grapes to share. Though I would like them, had a few and now I have enough calories for a cup of tea.

Moral of this tale, stick with the plan, and ditch the muesli.

Kate, me neither, haven’t even asked where mine is. Another day watching films while I work. Sigh!

    Sorry DJ

It’s this stupid tablet of mine every time I put DJ into it it puts do! It’s driving me NUTS! Why they make them with predictive text I do not know. And don’t get me started on OK GOOGLE it does not understand my Lancashire accent! Feel better after my rant apologies once again and welcome

    Audrey

Hi Audrey, you can switch it off

    Look in your settings

I despise predictive text, especially when texting. Combine that with my fat finger syndrome makes for some very bizare texts. My friends are adapting, but I still get replies of ??? back pretty frequently.

Hi girls.. Hi DJ and welcome (I am assuming you ARE a girl, DJ, if not, then I would have to add my apologies to Audrey’s).

I love Montreal! I have family there and was there only this April. A bit of the cool side though, no?
We have all tried and failed. The thing to do is to try try and try again until you get to where you want to go. This is my umpteenth time losing weight, but THIS time, I think I found the way (at the risk of evangelizing). I love this 5:2 way of life (WOL). You do not have to NOT EAT all the time, just a couple of days a week. Doable. I am losing very slowly, but that’s okay.. the trend is in the right direction and I feel that I can maintain this WOL ..well.. for life. Of course it would be less harsh, more 6:1 than 5:2 once the target is reached, but will have to keep at it to ensure the weight does not creep up again as it has done many a time before.

For those of you who heard about my phone saga, I had to fork out a mini fortune for a new iPhone and spent all evening after work setting it up and restoring from a back up. I have lost 2 months’ worth of data and pictures, but I guess:

1- It is better than no data
2- Lesson learnt to back up religiously every week.

I don’t like the idea of backing to iCloud. It just feels like you are relinquishing all privacy. I am not a Generation Y or Z or whatever they are called now. More of the older generation that does not feel that the whole world is entitled to know their every move and thought.

I completely understand your rant Audrey, and as Milena says, you can switch this auto-correct (which is almost always WRONG) thing off. Just google it or try the fiddling about with the settings. It is maddeningly stubborn and quite rude how it insists on its interpretation of what you mean and keeps “correcting” you over and over.

I finished a FD today just under 500 cals, so feel proud of myself. Today was not especially hard as my mind was focused on fixing my phone.. silver lining or what? In any case, I probably have to save on food now after paying for the expensive new phone.. good thing I am on a diet (sorry WOL), eh?

Okay.. Mr. McKenna awaits.. sweet dreams everyone.

happy Thursday all, half way through fast — dulling mini peckish cravings with garden work distraction and now a mug of miso soup. Think I might try waiting til lunch on fast days next week as I always have a lite breakfast [grew up with that habit so stomach expects it!]. I think I can push my meds forward til noon no problem.
welcome to this post DJ — I too am a Canadian — from BC, but have visited your beautiful Montreal, and I have also visited Britain twice over the years [once on bicycle – gasp at that now] so feel an honorary member there! Still need to do Spain, though spent a lot of time in the south of France a couple of summers ago. Loved the truckload of wine image! I have had great fun wine tasting in Australia and Napa ……
My capri sorting earlier this week was kind of successful and certainly motivating – after 7 pounds off I found two pairs I can now fit, a few in the yes I can barely do up super snug but soon category, but still several have a horridly straining wide V open zipper and sausage thighs.
    best wishes everyone

Night all I have had a good day today worked out hard let’s hope the scales are kinder tomorrow

    Audrey

    Hello All

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Yes Salma, it was bitterly cold in Montreal this winter. We had our coldest February on record. April was also chilly, but that’s not normal, usually things are warmin up by then. You should come back and visit in the Summer some time. We are known as the city of Festivals – the FRINGE Fest opens up on June 1st and then it is one continuous Montreal party for the rest of the summer!

Everyone is working to hard to achieve their goals. I congratulate the losers and commiserate with those who are hoping the scales will be kind.

It was not so great for me today. It seems that I had one last stupid binge in my system and pigged out on cookies. I have no will power, why I bought them I will never know. Anyway, tomorrow is another day. I think I am going to switch up my fast day routine (all 500 calories at dinner) and go back to what was originally working for me – light breakfast, no lunch, light dinner.

    Have a great evening/day everyone.

    PS, I am a girl 🙂

    Hi Apple pie

You don’t have to move a bucket around, they are much cleaner, more efficient and floors dry quicker. I suppose you haven’t got the exercise that you have with a mop and bucket. Also they are smaller than a mop and bucket to store. They heat up in about two minutes and are ready for action. I think that is about it ….unless you count that they can have attachments that clean windows, ovens, cookers etc.

….and no I don’t work for a steam cleaner company!

    Hi Kate

Let’s hope you need to buy new clothes soon. Don’t feel left out, you have a husband that likes scrubbing floors, costs nothing and gives you both pleasure!

    Have a nice dinner.

    Hi DJ

Glad to see that you have made it here. Yes a really nice crowd and always busy. You will soon feel as if you belong.

Yes falling off the wagon can be hard but climb back on and within a week you will feel virtuos.

I’ve never tried the getting thin one. I had problems with the app. I think that Salma has it though.

I find him easy to listen to.

    Hi Audrey

I Hope you manage to turn it off. I hope the scales are kinder to you.

    Milena

You have to resist it or just have it NFDs. Only three days to go……. I’m fasting tomorrow and then having the weekend off.

    Hi Salma

I have had iPhones before and have one now. The last time it somehow got lost with the pictures of a cat I no longer have. I was so upset, not by the loss of the phone although that was annoying but by the loss of these pictures.

I know backup to cloud and link my iPad and iPhone so photos are on both. Apple is meant to be really secure and what would they do with pictures of cats?

My contacts are also on both. So if I lost my phone or had an accident then I would be ok. I have a 5s as I didn’t line the newer ones too big and more draining on batteries. The 5s had a good spec as well…..am I in danger of sounding like a geek??

Enjoy Paul I have him soon…..

    Hi Phoebe

On a bike, I am impressed. Those trousers will soon fit you. Just keep on at it, it’s nice to have something to aim at.

DJ I don’t have anything in the house I can’t resist….it’s asking for trouble. At least they have gone now. Nice to know you are female as the name didn’t give it away.

Just to let you all know Sue, my new fasting recruit is doing well and seems to be coping. She is lucky as her Mum has made her some lovely meals and is doing all the counting for her. I can’t wait to see her weightloss. She is weighing next week.

    Night all

    Ginette

I forgot to post this link about the sugar in foods aimed at children. Really shocking!

‘Healthy’ fruit snacks with more sugar than Haribo: Packet of raisins or yoghurt coated strawberry pieces have more than four teaspoons per serving

    Ginette

    Good morning one and all,

Ginette.. the article is shocking. It is criminal what we allow to go into our children’s (or our own) bodies! Thank you for the article. Although I don’t have small children, I will pass it on to people who do. When my kids were small, I made all their lunch box snacks and sandwiches. I even made the bread and peanut butter. I am so glad I went to the trouble of doing so and teaching them to eat more healthily and less packaged stuff. What the food industry is doing to health is as bad as what the tobacco industry did a few decades ago.

Did I say good morning? Yes.. well.. good morning.. forget the mini rant so early in the day.
I am happy that yesterday’s FD passed uneventfully (food-wise at least; I am enjoying a hot caffe latte and looking forward to our group breakfast at the office. We are promised a kind of thyme, olive oil & sesame pie (I know, high in carbs, but I will only half a small portion) and sweet tea. Heaven. If you are interested to see what it looks like: http://flickrhivemind.net/Tags/khebez,saj/Interesting

Talking of being a geek.. I am with you there Ginette. I understand the convenience of the iCloud but I used imatch for my music and found it really irritating. I got myself one of those tiny storage devices that plugs into the phone and backs up all the data. You can transfer to your other i-devices. I think I prefer this for now. I liked my iphone5 until it went silent on me. I am not sure what I will make of this new one.

DJ.. This is not a geek-forum or a steam cleaning one (I must try one of those, they sound fabulous 🙂 ), but we do like to exchange tips. I know Montreal very well in all kinds of weather. It is a great city and very ‘alive’ despite the weather.

I do have the McKenna sleep app, but have not tried the slimming one, not the get rich one – obviously, on both counts. He does send me to sleep with his smooth voice, but alas, does not keep me there. Has anyone tried the slimming tape? Should we ditch the 5:2 for his hypnotic subliminal entreaties to leave the biscuit tin alone?

Phoebe.. I don’t normally wear trousers in an effort to avoid the dreaded V-zipper, but congratulations on getting into yours. It is one of the best feelings in the world to be able to get into something that you never thought you could get into.

Audrey, I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. Although I decided to consider only Monday morning as ‘official’ weigh day, I sneak a peek every morning. Today (after FD) they were kinder, but I haven’t quite seen a lower figure than the lowest I have seen so far.I will report on Monday. Sloooowwwwww.

Milena and Ginette.. only 3 days to go.. Come Monday morning, we need the report!
    Have a great day everyone.

Good morning Salma, another early bird like me. I have been up since 4.15. I have so much on my mind. We are hosting a buffet on Sunday for our neighbours, so the menu and all the jobs I have to do are running through my mind. I looked at your photo, it doesn’t look that appetising, maybe I am looking at the wrong thing. Sweet tea?? not for me. I can’t remember the last time I had tea, sweet or otherwise. I do occasionally drink herbal teas but I prefer coffee these days.

Looking forward to hearing your results Milena and Ginette, you have done so well!

    Enjoy Friday everyone

    Hi Applepie,

I hate getting up early, but Mr. McKenna is not doing a good job! Ah well, it allows me to catch up with my emails and write long rambling posts here 🙂

The thyme pie may not look very appetising, but it is delicious. This is dried thyme mixed with sumac (a lemony spice) and sesame plus salt and spices. This is normally eaten mixed with olive oil. The thyme pie is baked in an oven, much like a pizza. The thyme is supposed to improve memory.

I prefer coffee to tea, but occasionally, I like mint tea (no milk) and I am afraid I do like it on the sweet side. Good think I only have it maybe once a week.

I hope all goes well with your buffet. What are you making?

    Salma

I actually enjoy getting up early, so I see it as a bonus if I am up super early like today.

    I am planning on ……..

    Turkey and broccoli curry
    Meat and potato pie
    Chicken drumsticks
    Roast potatoes
    Quiche
    Salad

Plus a few other bits. It’s going to be a real feast and I will not be calorie counting. Photos will be on Facebook no doubt.

    Morning all,

I have been on scales and am .5 lb down! Then I realised I changed weigh in days so in 9 days I have lost 2.5 lb and I cheered up.I am away again to mums till week on Sunday so cannot weigh in again till then, I am hoping my new smart phone will connect to mobile wifi then I can log my meals on my fitness pal.

The fast beach diet should be over when I return so congratulations to all who have completed it, i know ginette and milena not sure who else sorry.

DJ sorry about cookie gate hope you have got it out of your system.

Applepie buffet sounds lovely can I come? I am a steam freek I love my polti and wouldn’t go back to buckets of water and chemicals for love or money. I clean my whole house in under 1 hr, it’s sanitised germ free, smell free and chemical free wonderful for asthma sufferers I could go on you get the point I am addicted.

I am going to be out of touch again from lunch time today till Sunday so have a good few days fasting or feasting

    Carry on losing

    Audrey

    Ginette

What a shocking article, we always gave dried raisins to our grandchildren when they were young as their mums didn’t want to give them sweeties! Didn’t buy these thank goodness!

I suppose though it is natural sugar that is on raisins and not refined so perhaps that is slightly better.

When they were young they were not allowed so many things and only ate home made baby food etc. Now they are at school it’s burgers KFC and pizzas! Charlotte won’t touch anything resembling a vegetable anymore!

    Audrey

    Good morning larks

this is early for my, though I didnt finish working til just before midnight, being an owl myself. Though beat Willow today, she is just coming in for her cuddle. She is back to being doddery but is walking, we just go day to day, so quite pleased we have changed holiday dates, so son will be homecwith her.

    Well done Audrey, good loss.

Survived my cruddy fast day, didn’t eat any more though I think the grapes put me over my 373 calories. Beaten by a grape.

M&S vouchers in!!!! Sons last day at college on Monday, off for our free lattes afterwards. Got £30 of coffee vouchers and £66 of money vouchers, so perhaps something tasty for lunch or some new clothes. Worth considering as a credit card. £120 a year charge, more if you want their travel insurance. We get £120 of coffee vouchers, around £300-400 of money vouchers – but I hammer the card buying stock from ebay, and free gifts. Best bit is the foreign currency, not just a better rate, but you can out it on the card and get the free period from charges even though its money.

Of course the downside is paying it off in full every month. Usually ok, but if Ive spent a lot on stock, a struggle. Interest is charged royally!!!

Final push now for FBD, so under 800 today, around 1000 tomorrow, was going to be roast lamb, but it can wait. FD Sunday, if I can manage a water fast, all the better. Yoyoing up and down this week, stuck at up at the moment, hense the thought my muesli is coubter productive, as otherwise it dhould be droppibg off me.

    Have a great day everyone!!!!

    Hi everyone!

Well done Milena and Ginette it must have been a long 6 weeks, but worth it 🙂

TGIF! not ideal for FD, and have a stiff neck 🙁 Also had to change yesterdays FD in fear of end of term celebrations at work, but I was quite good anyway though, so wish I’d done it yesterday, buuu!
Have a stack of marking to do over the next week, deadline next Fri, but tomorrow off to London for Champagne tea, thanks Groupon! with family, I’ve promised myself 2 glasses champagne max. Have lost a 1Ib this week, I’m really hoping people will notice soon, that’s 9 Ibs total.

Salma like the sound of Thyme pie, better stop fantasizing on FD, maybe I should try Paul’s slimming app?

thanks for the link Ginette, sugar is sugar, and that Fed Up film really brings it home, I’m also a bit obsessed with teeth and keeping them intact, lol, and any sugar/starch combo plays havoc on teeth, between meals.

Hi to everyone else! Stay strong!

    Hi Salma

Yes up with the lark, especially as I started listening to Paul at 4.37 and was unusually still awake at the end do about 5.

Really short night as I set the alarm at 7.45 as I have a meeting about my health. Just a standard one apparently. People tell me not to worry, easier said than done.

I’m glad you have got something to back phone up on. Now you just need to remember to do it.

    Enjoy Breakfast.

    Applepie

You were up before I slept – I knew this would happen sometime.

Meal sounds lovely fast day for me today.

    Hi Audrey

Good a bit better, still not what you deserve, well it will probably sho up when you are away, a nice surprise for when you are back.

    Hi Again Salma

I put thyme with vegetables sometimes on fast days, improve memory….I knew it was good for memory, I must add more!! 🙂

    H Audrey

Ah that’s why the small loss, not a complete week. I’m glad you will be able to log, you will even be able to keep an eye on the forum. I do. I choose not to remember passwords in case of loss so I have to log onto every thread every time I answer a pain! Still I ever I lost it I wouldn’t worry about people accessing my data.

On my iPad I choose to have it remember passwords as I don’t carry this around.

It will be nice to keep an eye on us.

Yes such a lot of rubbish for children to eat now – no wonder they are obese!!

    Hi Milena

Yes I was a night owl and am now a lark, a nap in the afternoon I think though!!

Glad Willow is getting around. Is it still August that you are going?

Have a good day all, I’ll be back later.

    Ginette

Sorry I meant to say enjoy your break Audrey.

    Ginette

    Hi Beldyboop

Missed your post as it crossed, well done on the 1lb. I don’t miss marking…. Do you teach children or adults?
