  • Sunny day 14 North Canton OH FD

I had to fix and resubmit some of the data for our audit, which was a bit of a bummer but nothing that I could not handle.

My housecleaning is coming along, I could not finish it all yesterday but I am well on my way

@stitchincarol you got married the day that you graduated?! Happy Wedding Anniversary!!! Your hymn-fest was so beautiful, thank you for the link. And thanks for the reminder and encouragement re-gaunt faces and low BMIs LOL

    @timetochange another wedding anniversary! Congratulations!!

    @litprof congratulations on your progress

@at I am sure that you will get your mojo back-you always do and you have been such an inspiration to so many of us on this forum, and I have been diagnosed with tennis elbow. I am being mindful of what I do with it, but I do not want to baby it too much.

I am so glad that things are slowly beginning to return to normal-ish re: masks. I am hopeful that as more of us get out there, we will all be Covid-free as we begin to interact and physically engage with each other again. It feels like we are emerging from a long winter

    Day 14 USA 🇺🇸 – OMAD

Silver Sneakers shortly and errands following that, so I will do just OMAD today.

@stitchincarol – I did get to hear the last 1/2 of your Hymn Fest that was terrific! Wow, you sure did have quite a wonderful group of hymns. The ones I knew, I wished I were singing with you! 🎶🎶 Hope your anniversary time with DH and DSs was just fabulous. Sounds like it was.

@timetochange! – happy anniversary to you!

@basyjames – hope your hubs is able to get just the job he wants and it fulfills all your needs.

    Onward and downward.

    Day 14 MN/USA. NFD

@stitchincarol – What a perfect day it sounds like you had, yesterday. Congrats on Anniversary and Hymn Fest. I will listen to it this weekend.
@timetochange – Happy Anniversary to you and your DH as well!
@daffodil2010 – Enjoy your weekend away!
@i-hate-lettuce – I will be away next weekend as well, visiting my DS and his family for the first time since January 2020. It is granddaughters graduation and we will be seeing several family members and friends. I can hardly wait, and I’m sure you feel the same to see your family. I’m so happy for you!
@northgeorgia – That’s wonderful progress! It won’t be long now before you are in the 2teens!
@litprof – Congrats to you for almost being there! And fitting into those pants again!
@snowflake56 – I really did enjoy my haircut. It’s amazing how the little things we all use to do routinely are now so appreciated.

Mask requirements have been lifted in Minnesota, though businesses can choose to still ask people to wear them inside.
It feels like we are coming out of a long, dark tunnel towards the light!

    Enjoy the weekend everyone!

    Day 15 OMAD London

Yes, we are missing our holidays! DH more than me, in fact. I’ve loved lockdown and I don’t really want it to end.
I wish I could drink just occasionally, but I don’t seem to be able to. It’s all or nothing, and I’m so much happier when I don’t drink at all, although I feel a bit as if I’m missing out. Nice to hear from everybody, btw. 😀😀

    Day 15, Emden Germany, NFD

    Good morning everyone!

It’s good to hear that so many of you can go back to living a more normal life.

@i-hate-lettuce You really have something to look forward to, meeting up with the family and going on a holiday. I’m sure you and Mrs. IHL will have the most wonderful time.

    @daffodil2010 Enjoy your weekend away!

@at Thanks! I’m sure your mojo will be back next Monday as most of us will be on the pocket list.

@stitchincarol Thanks, my friend isn’t doing too bad at the moment. She had her treatment last Monday, the next one is planned for June 2nd depending on lab results. She is very tired and only wants to sleep but no vomiting or other side effects so that’s good. I have a lot of stitching projects waiting to be finished. At the moment I’m stitching a table cloth I started ~ 20 years ago for my friend but as she didn’t like it I put it away. I love doing it but it’s time consuming and with a cat sleeping on your lap not doable. German father’s day is on Ascension since 1936 and it was called men’s day then. For a lot of men it’s still a “men gather and get drunk day” than a day where fathers spend the day with their family.

@emma-taylor I already thought you would enjoy being at home for a while without having to go anywhere.

@northerndawn We miss seeing friends and family and raiding second hand bookshops most of all. We have regular video chats with everyone and lots of unread books so life it’s still very pleasant.

    Have a nice day everyone!

Day 15 – Lake District UK – NFD

    Good morning everyone

Suddenly the world appears a little more ‘normal’! As several have commented, we are really looking forwards to next week to meet up with the kids then the following weeks walking holiday. Starting to plan the walks already, but it’s quite handy, we know the area well so have a list of favourites.
Something different, I have occasionally dabbled in sketching/drawing and apparently have the eye for photography, so this morning heading off out to get some supplies to top up my bag of ‘arty things’ to have a go at capturing some of the magnificent scenery on paper! Why not, always good to try something new or have a renewed interest in an old hobby.

Planted out the final bits in the garden (yeah right, I’ll end up squeezing more in!) the beds are looking very well and growing on nicely, the early spring flowers are going back and the summer plants are starting their show already, just need a few days of proper warmth and we’ll be off.

Take care all, have a nice weekend.

    Day 15 – Ireland – NFD 🚫 ✅ 🏋️‍♀️ 🤸🏻‍♀️

Hi all, looking after my mum this weekend so will be trying to avoid the sweet treats here… it’s always a challenge although it was dad who really had the sweet tooth 💕. Mum is great as she really only eats when hungry and I never remember her binging or eating treats/crisps … Dad lived for dessert 😂 but again didn’t gorge the way I can… interesting…

Busy roads around Ireland as it’s the first weekend in months where everyone can travel outside their county so it was very noticeable last night driving home. Have a lovely trip @daffodil2010.
@emma-taylor it’s funny I used to fly at least once a month and I love travel but I have enjoyed the break from it more than I thought I would… I’ll be back to it whenever life returns to normal but for the moment im savouring the slower pace of life. Also like you, I am off the booze but I will have drinks for big occasions whenever we get back to being able to celebrate properly.. 🎉 when we can go out and sit outside in a resto I will have a glass of wine – that will be one BIG night to celebrate.
@at good to see you and knowing you your mojo is just around the corner 💪 😁
@snowflake56 I’m glad your friend is in good form… I’m reading your post and I wish i was more crafty! I’d love to knit or sew but don’t think I have the aptitude. I bough a crochet set in Lidl recently thinking surely I could crochet a Cloud ☁️ … but opened the pack and saw it was not for beginners and looked really tricky so packed it all up again and gave it to my friend 😂😂. Useless! I think if I couldn’t learn to do these things in Covid lockdown I never will (along with my plan to clear out my attic 😂😂)

For those of you reconnecting with family I’m so happy for you! Enjoy!💕

    Day 15 – Canada – NFD

Good morning. I’m off to a pickleball tournament this morning. I’m a rank beginner so may be drummed out early, yikes. It’s a beautiful sunny day so it should be nice. Didn’t have a very good FD yesterday but will see Monday as a new start. 🙂

So wonderful to hear about everybody getting back to normal and travelling. We’re running a bit behind other countries with our vaccination programme so still being careful.

@stitchincarol – lovely hymn fest. 2 hours to mow the lawn but hope to get that down to 90 minutes. Very satisfying when it’s done.
@jaifaim – I’m awful at stitch work but I tried rug hooking and it was easier than knitting or crocheting.

    Take care all.

    Day 15 – USA/GA – NFD

Well, what chaos has ensued, and it all started yesterday around 10:30.

    1. I discovered our allocations for our program is the same as last year, which normally would be OK, but there is a mandated raise that must be implemented, that could amount to trying to find $350,000 or more to be able to keep everyone on.
    2. I’m going to have to redo a spreadsheet because I forgot to cross a T and dot an I.
    3. Road construction destroyed our internet. The unnamed monopoly doesn’t talk to people directly and probably won’t be concerned that two people have lost service. I can see this dragging on for weeks. I’m connected via my mobile data right now.
    4. Someone at work needs a password reset; another person needs me to type up a document with my signature.

*sigh* I guess I’ll just go into work Monday and look for another day off. I still plan to fast tomorrow.

On the bright side, I weigh 223 lbs this morning, which is my lightest Saturday weigh-in ever!

    Have a good weekend!

    Day 15 – Rural Nebraska, USA – FD500

I hesitated a long time before putting down that today would be a FD…oh. And just realized I can’t pull that off. Today is high school graduation, and I have two parties to go to, and I simply don’t have that kind of will power, nor should I try to find it; 5:2 is a way of LIFE, after all. Okay, so CD it will be.

Like my stream of consciousness as I make decisions?? 😂🤣😂🤣

Yesterday was acceptable, and the scale is still cooperating (which is to say it’s not going up), so at some point I’ll recapture the great mojo and momentum I had during Lent.

@basyjames Can you explain anything of what this big project has been? I’ve always thought you were a nurse, and a big project that requires an audit doesn’t seem to go with “nurse.”

@northerndawn You had some weight goals for next weekend’s DGD’s graduation; are you close?

@snowflake56 I’m glad that, so far, your friend is doing well. Thanks for the explanation of Father’s Day, originally Men’s Day; it was fascinating!

@i-hate-lettuce I’m getting excited right along with you for your big trip, LOL! What about watering plants while you’re gone?

@jaifaim If you don’t WANT to stitch, then there’s zero point in trying. But if you like the idea of something in your lap to work on, the best approach, I think, is to find a friend who does it, or a shopkeeper who sells it, and ask them to teach you. They’ll know what kinds of questions to ask as to whether it should be embroidery, or counted cross stitch, or needlepoint, or crochet, or knitting. One VERY easy thing to try is where you buy the needlepoint where the design is already stitched and you simply add the background. But, as I said, if you don’t WANT to stitch, then there’s no reason to pursue any of it.

Aww, @northgeorgia, what a complete and utter MESS you’re dealing with. You have my sympathy on all the issues you’re dealing with, and on having to give up your day off–but what a lovely report on your scale results this morning!

And now to completely readjust my mental thoughts on how this day will go. I’d completely forgotten about high school graduation, but since I’m playing piano for it (the band teacher’s daughter is graduating, so there’s no band this year), I really can’t skip it, LOL! Then, the two parties are also basically mandatory. It’ll be lovely, truly; I’m simply sad at the sudden realization that I don’t have the whole day to myself. Oh well, having some normality is also a very lovely thing.

Have a grand day, everyone, and good luck with sticking to your eating plans today!

    Second post

Oh, and thanks for all the kind comments on my hymn fest. DS24 on trumpet was certainly not his most polished best–which is always so obvious, unfortunately–and there were a few other glitches here and there, but overall, it came out as I wanted it to. 🎶💖

Day 16 – Lake District UK – NFD

    Good morning everyone

Think it’s going to be a day planning walks and restaurants for the forthcoming trips, in Scotland you can eat in pubs and restaurants again, but you have to book! If the rain holds off will get out for a stroll locally today.

@stitchincarol – No worries about plants while we’re away, we have several volunteers who are always happy to water up! Usual thing here, friends and neighbours looking out for each other.

    Take care all.

    Day 16 – Ireland – NFD 🚫 ✅ 🏋️‍♀️ 🤸🏻‍♀️

Hi all, hope all are well.
Great day here yesterday. Mum had her first haircut in 5 months and reconnected with her hairdresser pal. Very emotional 💕
    I’m in tomorrow… badly needed 💇‍♀️
Also had our first catch up with mum and my siblings since Dad ♥️ left us… vety much unplanned but very special and lovely to be in the sun ☀️

Didn’t do too badly on the treats..

Hope you all have a great Sunday.

    Hi, everyone!

    Too busy to write today!

    Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

    Day 16 – USA/GA – FD

Lots of crazy things going on now (still using my data to post; the internet technician is supposed to be coming by today, but I’ll only be able to show that the problem is their crew took down a cable crossing the road and cut it at the pole — so I know there won’t be any resolution today. I just fear it could be weeks on end. Still, I need the monopoly to be officially notified that we don’t have service as their app claims we do!) All that to say I feel fortunate there is a backup to do some basic things online through my cell phone.

Weigh in: 223 lbs, my lightest Sunday ever! Going to do a 4:3 week this week and possibly next week. If I can keep things going smoothly with things I can control (haha), then I may see some good results this month. My goal for the month is 219 lbs. My goal in March (and also again in April, both unmet) was 221 lbs. As our family vacation is in three weeks, I want to go into my first ever “off the 5:2 week” at a good place.

@stitchincarol Hope you had a good FD and glad the hymn fest went well!

    Day 16 – UK – FD.

After my impromptu FD on Wednesday I decided to have another today. Thursday and Friday NFDs went ok but had a bit of a pizza and beer blow out last night. Tried to keep the damage to a minimum by not eating the crust on the beautiful wood fired, sour dough pizza, but really, who I am trying to kid! Not much else to report really. Weigh in tomorrow so fingers crossed, and 2nd dose of vaccine on Tuesday. Hope I don’t feel as bad as I did after the 1st.

@stitchincarol. Glad your hymn fest went well and hope you had a lovely anniversary.
    You too @timetochange.

@dvw. What is pickleball? I’m intrigued.

    @i-hate-lettuce. Happy travels next week.

    Day 17, Emden Germany, FD

From this week on I’m going back to 5:2 and see if it’s possible to maintain my currant weight.

@dvw How did your pickleball tournament go?

@stitchincarol I really enjoyed listening to your lovely hymn fest, thanks!

@jaifaim Perhaps needlework and things like that are just not for you. I found out knitting is not my favourite and although I like crochet, I wouldn’t know what to do with the things I made. If I would have done all the things I planned to do when Covid started, I would live in a pristine house by now. Of course it didn’t happen but I don’t mind.

    Day 17 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

Great weekend away in Co Mayo in our camper. Lots of people travelling but still lots of social distancing going on, we are so used to it now I guess.

I feel a bit tired this morning, don’t know why, so have decided to FD tomorrow.

Also not looking forward to driving this week as DH told me that my handbrake has seized and I cannot use it so must make sure to park the car in gear, something about callipers, BUT, as he wont be able to fix it until the weekend, and I can’t drive the van or the motorcycle to work……I have to be super careful not to use my handbrake when I stop the car!!

But it’s an automatic response isn’t it? So to remind me NOT to pull up the handbrake I have put a big red woolly Christmas hat with a white bobble onto the handbrake 😂 The plan is that when I forget and reach for the handbrake the woolly hat wil remind me not to 😀

    Have a great Monday.

    DAY 17 – UK – FD

Today is definitely a much needed FD as I have not fasted since week 1 😱 Each planned FD morphed into a TDEE or NFD – so not stepping on the scales until the end of the month!!!!

Looking back I realise that this May has been my worst month in consuming too many calories in food/alcohol 🤭 since finding this WOL – I’m not sure why but I know that I now have no choice but to press my RESET button firmly today before it’s too late……..
I’m setting out my intentions in writing for the 2nd half of this May 2021 5th Anniversary Challenge to motivate myself!
    * Low Carb – avoid that that delicious 8 grain sourdough bread
    * FD800 x 5 days a week with 2 TDEE days
    * All alcohol is definitely 🚫 until my birthday in June
    * Use MFP to log everything
    * Drink 2-3 L of water daily
    * Daily exercise session or at least 10k steps

7am Broga zoom class this morning which for the first time was combined with a small live class in the studio – it all worked well – I’m not ready to join live classes as yet, perhaps in mid June once I’m 4 weeks post my 2nd vaccine

Planning on keeping busy today – if the weather allows will go for a 10k steps low level walk before doing a floor pilates class this afternoon

    Day 17 – Rural Nebraska, USA – FD500

I’ve been thinking a lot about what makes the difference between a successful FD and a failure of an effort (sorry, @penz, for using the f word). And I was struck by my current attitude: “Ugh. I need to fast on Monday. Well, I’ll just have to struggle through. I’m really going to miss eating the leftover meatloaf. And wouldn’t it be nice to make a dessert? *sigh* Maybe I don’t really need to be thin. I could just cook and eat and call it good, because there’s simply nothing pleasant about fasting.”

It was the same refrain I’ve been thinking for several weeks now, but it was that last thought that stopped me in my tracks. Until several weeks ago, this was my attitude going in to a FD: “Phew, a FD, finally! It may be a bit of a challenge, because I know I’ll get hungry, but I can feel the extra food I’ve been eating slogging around in my gut, and I’ll feel so wonderfully, gloriously empty tomorrow morning. Plus, eating nothing all day and then filling up on such healthy food always makes me feel so powerful…I LOVE that feeling of accomplishment. Okay, let’s fill up the water cup and get started, because I CAN DO THIS!”

That’s a very rough expression of my attitude because it’s more of an attitude, not well-constructed sentences with grammar and vocabulary, LOL, but the very different attitude toward FDs is spot-on.

So today, I’m embracing my FD, celebrating that today is a FD, and planning on an attitude-check throughout the day to ensure my attitude is just what it needs to be to complete this FD with success and satisfaction.

@snowflake56 I hope what kept you too busy to write on Sunday was delightful and fun!

@northgeorgia How fun to have several “lightest weight ever” days in a row; with 222 today, you’re clearly on your way sooner rather than later to the 2-teens! Where will you be going on your family vacation?

@brewster Wow, sourdough pizza crust?? Don’t believe I’ve ever even heard of that, but it sounds delightful!

@jaifaim Enjoy the process of the haircut and the results as well!

@daffodil2010 Perfect solution to remind you not to use your handbrake!

It’s a gloomy day out there, so not the kind of weather that makes it a joy to get out and garden, but at least it won’t be too hot, and I’m so looking forward to planting the last of my veggies. That will keep me out of the kitchen and make this FD easy, right?

Have a grand day, everyone, successful with whatever you’re choosing to accomplish.

Day 17 North Canton OH NFD

Today would normally be a FD for me, but I woke up feeling sore, achy and very fatigued with an itchy throat and lots of sneezing. I loaded up on my allergy medications and anti-inflammatories and decided not to fast today. I rarely nap, but I passed out for 4 hours yesterday after church services. I think my body needs the rest after all the recent stresses.

@stitchincarol yes you are right, I am a nurse but I left the bedside almost 9 years ago, and I now manage Medical Record Review for the insurance arm of the healthcare company I work for. After submission of results, there is much nail biting as we wait for our assigned auditor to verify our submissions. We submitted about 5,000 records this year and the submission has to be error-free before it is accepted. Our submissions determine our Star rating. Star ratings determine how much (or how little) reimbursements and incentives we get from CMS, which in turn determines how desirable we are to the general population during the next open enrollment period. As you can imagine, it is all a very big deal and I definitely feel the pressure as the leader of the team.

@snowflake56 I am so glad that your friend is doing ok. We will continue to hold her in our hearts and pray for her recovery.

I want to respond to all the other posts but I am simply too tired to. I will catch up with you all later, but please know I am keeping you all in my heart.

Hello one and all. Not posted for a few days, busy celebrating my 27th wedding anniversary but staying on track with fasting. FD today and it was okay. Started with a run which was nice. Fell over in the rain and mud while running a few days ago, so I have only just stopped aching. last week I did two full fasts plus one day where I had just one sensible meal but not calorie counted. Will be trying three fast this week if I can. So interesting to see how far and wide everyone is. travel anywhere seems like such a long time ago now with the pandemic. My brother lives in the States and I haven’t seen him for 2 years now. it’s been rough on some people, so I count my blessings really. Re-gaining some control over my eating has been good from a mental health perspective and I feel good for it. had a 3lb loss last week which I was happy with. Have a good day tomorrow, I am getting to make a trip into the office for a change!

    Day 17 USA🇺🇸 NFD

Quick check in – been plenty busy. Silver Sneakers this morning was plenty strenuous but good. Going out to dinner with DH tonight, so glad for that. No FD today. Might do one Wednesday or Thursday as they will also be plenty busy. Agreed – busy days make for good FD’s.

@northgeorgia – why is it that Internet connectivity issues are so stressful?? At least they are for me. I think I have grown far too dependent on being connected with the world.

@timetochange – happy anniversary to you! May weddings. So wonderful.

    Onward and downward.

    Day 17 MN/USA CD

I went over 800cals today by about 125 calories. Kitchen is closed now (It’s 7 pm). Tomorrow I have a follow up medical procedure and will be fasting for it, so I might as well make it a good solid FD.

Will catch up with everyone tomorrow afternoon, hopefully.
Stay strong and mindful. Best of luck to all.

    Day 18 AUS FD800

It’s day 18 of the month, but day 14 for me of FD800: I’m doing FD800 5 days/week, with 2 days/week eating at or below my BMR.

I’ve now lost 2.2k in two weeks, which makes me so happy.

I really want to get down into the next kilo zone – this will take me back into what I think of as my normal range of weight, but in fact I haven’t been there for a while. 2k will get me to goal.

I’m interested to see how close I can get this month, as I am expecting to hit a giant plateau very very soon, giving the speed I have been losing.

    Day 18, Emden Germany, NFD

    Good morning everyone!

@stitchincarol Yes, we had a fun and busy day. We re-organized our records so we can find what we’re looking for if we want to play some music. Later on our friends asked us if we looked at the upcoming items in the next Rotterdam auction, starting tomorrow. Because of Covid it’s an online auction again without any preview, we don’t know yet if we’re going to bid on something. I agree, a successful fast has everything to do with the right attitude!

@daffodil2010 I guess it’s difficult to avoid something you’re so used to doing when driving.

@at Your plan for the rest of the month sounds good and doable, go for it!

@brightonbelle A lot of us seem to be overindulging on the weekend. Part of my problem is that I know I’m going to fast on Monday so on Sunday I tend to overeat. Not good.

@dvw and @songbirdme My FDs are often my most busy days of the week, I forget to eat when I’m busy so it makes it easier to fast.

@basyjames Thanks! I hope you feel better today, take good care of yourself.

    Day 18 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – FD

Having an FD today and an early night as I have been overdoing it. I am sleeping well, energy good, BP normal, but there is that weight gain that won’t move and I really have to talk positive to myself.

That’s why I come on here for inspiration. I guess if I was not here then goodness knows what I would be doing (though I have always tried to be fit and healthy despite it all).

Hope everyone has a great day.

Going to ring my doctor now as I sent her my BP results of a week off the meds, and she left me a message assuming my results showed I was still on the meds!!!!!!! They were really good results, but I better set her straight on that.

    Day 18 – UK – FD800

Struggled a bit yesterday but did manage to complete my FD coming in just under the 800cals 😇 and joined my pilates class in the afternoon but never got out for that walk.

@brightonbelle – I’m with you in aiming for a good last couple of weeks of this challenge!
@stitchincarol – thank you for your inspiring post and yes we can do this!
@timetochange – congratulations on that 3lb loss last week and great that you can celebrate your wedding anniversary and still remain on track with your fasting
@litprof – great job on that 2.2kg loss in two weeks and you certainly are on track for getting down into the next kilo zone!
@daffodil2010 – good news regarding your BP

Another FD800 planned for today and definitely going out for a long walk with a high impact pilates zoom class booked for late afternoon

    Day 18 – USA/GA – FD

Weigh-in was 224 lbs this morning. I went into work, stressed out about a major budget issue and finally said to my co-workers, “I WANT A BURGER!” Then I whined back and forth for the next 30 minutes or so and settled for tacos at a Mexican restaurant. I ate one of the three tacos and the beans and rice. I’m a little ashamed to say it went downhill when I got home. My mom had made bread pudding and I thought I’d finish a very reasonable amount of rice and noodles from a Chinese restaurant my sister-in-law got from a Sunday takeaway. But then I opted to “finish up” some mother’s day leftovers of macaroni and cheese, stuffing, and ham. Egads…

OK, no more naughty weekday NFDs. My internet was restored Sunday afternoon, and my brother’s should be restored today. We shall see if mine gets cut off again. By “restore,” I mean the company tossed a cable across a neighbor’s yard who only cuts the weeds near the road about once a month, and said, “meh, they’ll bury it in about 3 weeks.” That usually NEVER happens — it takes months. So, I completely expect the line to be cut and we repeat all this again.

    Day 18 – Rural Nebraska, USA – FD800/CD

I have a plan for what I’ll eat today, I just don’t know how many calories it is, so I didn’t how to label my day. As long as I stick to plan it will be good.

Yesterday’s FD was so much better with my careful change of attitude. Every now and then I’d catch myself feeling sorry for myself, and I’d quickly squash those thoughts and replace them with thoughts of pleasure that I was ENJOYING a FD, and it was a pleasant day. Today, instead of waking up with relief that I “don’t have to fast,” I’m pleased to be planning out my day. Yeah. Maybe this was all that was missing from having mojo, was a careful determination of exactly what my attitude was going to be, and saying the appropriate things as needed. I didn’t immediately FEEL the things I told myself, but I was careful to say them!

@basyjames So sorry you felt so awful, and hope you’re feeling far better today. Your explanation about your job and your project was fascinating; the things most of us don’t know about jobs within medicine could fill a book!

@timetochange Happy anniversary!! Glad your fall in the rain was no worse than it was, and hope all the aches and pains are entirely gone now.

@songbirdme Where’d you go for dinner last night? I’ll bet it was lovely to be OUT.

@northerndawn Sounds as if your determination to be at goal weight for this weekend is having solid results in your daily behavior; well done!

@litprof Well, well done on finding a plan that’s working for you! 2.2K is no small accomplishment!!!

@snowflake56 It’s so tough to decide whether or not to bid on something when the auction’s online; good luck with determining your choices. Is it not even possible to walk through someplace to see things in person?

@daffodil2010 How lovely that your results were so good that your doctor thought you were still on meds! As to successfully losing weight, it’s clear that attitude makes all the different; what’s not so clear is how the attitude needs to change to find success. Good luck in thinking it all through and figuring out what change you need.

    @at Well done yesterday!

@northgeorgia You’ve had plenty of stress to explain the overeating you had yesterday, but today’s FD ought to effectively take care of that! At least you have internet again, right?

I got lots of gardening done yesterday, planting the rest of my veggies and some plants I’d bought, weeding and deadheading in my perennial bed, and just generally making everything look calm and serene instead of messy. It was damp and gloomy, but perfect weather for planting. I have NEVER had the garden beds in such good shape already by the 18th of May, and am so pleased with how easily it’s all coming together this year. Today, I head off to Omaha to teach a lesson and then run errands, so it’ll be a fun day.

It’s all in the attitude, so here’s mine: “We’re so lucky that we’ve discovered 5:2 and learned from first-hand experience just how effective and wonderful an approach it is to life!”

    Day 18 – Ireland – FD 🚫 ✅ 🏋️‍♀️ 🤸🏻‍♀️

    Hi all!
Was due to be a FD but I’m feeling grim with a bad headache/migraine since last night and all that I want are salty foods …
Work was tough and resting now..
Very rarely feel like this and hate when I do… 🤯

I’ve just created a post and it has disappeared. I needed to edit it after posting and it’s not come back! I am showing as just posted but there is no text. It might reappear tomorrow perhaps, anyone else had this problem?

    Day 18 MN/USA CD

Once again I found myself over the 800 calorie mark, but so far, all very healthy foods. I have been lately trying to overestimate my calorie intake instead of the instinctive underestimating I am prone to do, so maybe its not quite 800 after all.

@timetochange – It happens to all of us sooner or later. I try to always copy my post before I hit submit, and then if it disappears when editing, I have a copy I can paste in to the 2nd post. Occasionally that means a couple post will show up, but that’s okay. Be sure not to wait too long before you edit or then before you submit with corrections. You have limited time. I often don’t even bother to edit anymore (kind of obvious with some posts) because I don’t want the hassle of re-posting over a few little (?) errors.

@stitchincarol – Well, you are right that I had a goal for this weekend….I will be seeing so many people I haven’t seen in years and I was hoping to be at a reasonable 150 lbs so as not to shock them too much. But, alas, I will be lucky to be at 155 pounds. I’M telling myself: ” How I look is not what the weekend is about. It’s about my wonderful granddaughter and her accomplishments”, so I will keep that in the front of my mind and try not to notice any snide “looks” or comments. I’m at healthy BMI so I’ll console myself with that. Health is the main thing. And…..your hymn fest was lovely. Your church community is very lucky to have you and all the hard work you contribute.

@northgeorgia – Yes, stress can really do a job on our psyche. You’ll find your balance and get to the 2teens.

@basyjames – I was guessing somewhat correctly at what you were doing in your job. A very high pressured and stressful job indeed.

@snowflake56 – I love second hand (and first hand…any type really) bookstores… enjoy your quiet pleasures and all of your unread books you can anticipate reading.

@ccco – Your busy life sounds like it’s fulfilling for you. Enjoy! I’m glad you are maintaining at the same weight.

    Good luck everyone!

    Day 18 USA – FD

Was a full day, and as I kept busy, it turned into a 600 calorie FD. Yeah for that. Mostly because, dinner last night was steak, potato, salad, dinner roll, and a lovely glass of Cabernet.

@stitchincarol – that dinner was at Texas Roadhouse. Plenty of leftovers, though, but they will be for another day.

@northerndawn and @snowflake56 – I’m right with you with used bookstores. Unless it is something very particular, I buy books from our local one all the time. But then exact titles they do not have, I often can find them through Amazon used books.

    Onward and downward.

    Day 19, Emden Germany, NFD

    Good morning everyone!

@stitchincarol No, no viewings at the auction at the moment. Of course we don’t need any of the things they sell and it’s much more fun and much more exciting being in the auction room during an auction. My DH thinks we need a few more small paintings and a small side table so I think I’m going to try to get them for him. A few months ago I bought a lot of books at the auction so if he wants to have something this time, it’s fine with me.

@jaifaim I hope you feel better this morning and your headache has gone.

@timetochange My posts sometimes disappear after editing so I don’t edit any more. Since this month I write in LibreOffice first and then copy and paste my post. If it doesn’t appear I then still have it on my computer.

@northerndawn and @songbirdme We hardly buy new books, almost every books comes up in a second hand bookstore someday. We have 2 chain bookstores here, the salespeople don’t seem to be very interested in what they sell and they don’t sell anything interesting. For us, the joy of second hand bookstores or shops is finding unexpected treasures. We don’t buy from Amazon but I bought a few books from AbeBooks a few years ago, it worked very well but second hand bookshops are more fun and it’s always interesting to chat with the owners.

    Day 19 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

Great news when I rang my doctor yesterday. She called me back and we had a laugh at her rambling phone message and assumption that I was still on meds, and now officially I do not have high BP and she was going to take that code off my record so that it won’t pop up in years to come if I need my medical records for insurance etc. Yay 💃

My foot is almost better too, walking without limping and can get some speed up, so that’s good.

Sheesh all the aches and pains, but I feel good today, done my workout, walk in the morning sunshine, getting ready for a busy stressful day in work, but I have the attitude that today WILL be a good day 👍

@jaifaim and @ basyjames I hope you feel better soon
@stitchincarol, you mental attitude to get through your FD has inspired me to get through today’s looming workday

Have a good hump day all 🐫🐪

Day 19 – Lake District UK – NFD

    Good morning everyone

Packing day today, heading off first thing in the morning, not going to be back until end of the month! Really looking forward to seeing family then heading to the Cairngorms for week of long walks in the hills!
Not sure there’s going to be any FD’s until we get home.

    Take care while I’m away.

    Day 19 – Canada – FD

Good morning everybody. Just a quick check in to say hi and to wish everyone good luck. Thank you @stitchincarol for the inspirational comments about attitude and fasting. You are so right! I am starting my day thinking positive thoughts :).

Second-hand bookstores are so much fun, you never know what you’ll find. I love my public library system so I can read the book and not have to give it space in my home. 🙂 I already have too many filling my shelves.

    Good luck to all.

    Day 19 – USA/GA – NFD

The scales didn’t want to, but I made them tell me that I met my March/April goal weight of 221 lbs today! Two more pounds to meet my May goal…fingers crossed!

    Good luck to all!

Day 19 – Rural Nebraska, USA – CD

Yesterday went perfectly…right up until the time I decided to make a blackberry pie, and opened a bottle of red to keep me company while I baked. I don’t actually regret it; pie is my favorite dessert of all, is what my mom used to make ALL the time, but is something I generally only trouble myself to do at Thanksgiving. So to have found the ambition to bake a pie was delightful and I thoroughly enjoyed the results, especially since it was blackberry, a rare treat indeed these days. Growing up in Northern California (Redwood forest area), when the blackberries started coming on, my mom and sister and I used to go up in the woods multiple times to pick them. We’d eat ourselves sick while picking, LOL, and come home with loads of them to freeze, and Mom would always make either a pie or a cobbler for dessert.

So while the pie was absolutely worth it to me (I found the berries at a good price while grocery shopping and couldn’t leave without two packages of them, knowing a pie was in my future BUT thinking I’d make it on Friday), the deviation from my plan for the day points out the problem with 5:2 that we’ve all noted so often: FDs are FAR easier than NFDs.

So now I’m on a quest to see if I can find some attitude adjustment that will help stick to plan on NFDs. I’ll keep you posted. 😉 And tomorrow will be another FD, so at least two days this week will be according to plan, LOL!

Aww, @jaifaim, hope you feel better today!

@northerndawn Thanks for your words about the hymn fest. I love music above all, and on my Ascension Hymn Fest I let myself go nuts with how I play hymns. As to your weight…there is zero possibility that anyone could look at you and see the difference between 150 and 155. Zero. You will look lovely this weekend because you will be glowing from the pride and joy and love for your granddaughter, and I’m sure those you’re going to be seeing are ALSO worrying about their weight! So celebrate that you’re far lower in weight than you were, and know that you’ve done a terrific job!

@daffodil2010 It truly is all in the attitude, isn’t it? You’re already half way through your work down as I type, so I hope that determination to greet your day with strength is still strong!

@i-hate-lettuce Have a GRAND time!! Say hi to your kids for us all!

Yay, @northgeorgia, to be moving down and meeting goals! SO fun for us all to watch!

I’m delighted that my explanation about what I realized about my attitude to fasting was helpful to some of you. Now if only one of us could come up with an equally helpful attitude to not-fasting, LOL!

It’s another gloomy day, with showers scattered through the day, but it’s going to be warm, so I’ll get out in the yard and do some weeding, fertilizing and planting. Have a grand day, everyone, full of success at meeting whatever your plan is for the day!

    Day 19 Minnesota, USA FD

@i-hate-lettuce – Safe travels and enjoy your family and your adventure!

@stitchincarol – Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. You are right that I should be celebrating the 22 pounds I have lost over the last 9 months and glad I’m not showing up to the reception at that weight. Your words sooth my soul. Yes, I am proud of my granddaughter and that will be my focus. Your pie sounds delicious! Maybe I’ll make one next week for my two little granddaughters. Their lips are usually purple from the blackberries and blueberries I have for them every weekend. They are huge fans of both.

@songbirdme – Your dinner out sounds great! I hope my DH and I can soon do the same.

@daffodil2010 – So glad to hear your BP is normal now. And that you are doing better.

@jaifaim – I hope your migraine is gone. They are the worst!

Have a successful and mindful day, everyone!
