  • Day 11 – Lake District UK – NFD

    Good morning everyone

Ridiculous, it seems our kitchen tap has ceramic disks instead of conventional washers, these are non replaceable in this type (unlike some that have a cartridge) so the whole tap needs replacing instead of a couple of washers costing pennies! Hate wasting time money and resources! So my morning is booked with a fiddly job that should be unnecessary, grrr.

@at – Rhubarb, yes, this recent spell of cold nights and warm days will have most plants stopping and starting not growing properly, hopefully we’ve seen the last of the frost now. It’s amazing to see how quickly things have started now the weather is more settled, even in just a few days!

@timetochange – When I was trying to lose weight (as opposed to maintain) I didn’t ‘go up to’ my TDEE on NFD’s and found staying as close to my BMR as possible I lost weight. Currently my Basic Metabolic Rate is 1716, my TDEE is 2360, I found the nearer I stuck to my BMR the better, obviously there’s 644 calories to play with, but it worked for me. Apart from the odd ‘day off’ usually Friday, I rarely consume my TDEE or above.

    Take care all

    Day 11 – Ireland – FD 🚫 ✅ 🏋️‍♀️ 🤸🏻‍♀️

    Hi all!

@northgeorgia happy 5:2 anniversary!! Well done on a great year!
@wacm – I’m very envious of your bike trip sounds fab! I love long distance bike trips – can’t wait to get back to them.
@basyjames I’m sorry to hear your bad news but as you say maybe when you look back on this time what seems like bad news now will have been a fantastic change of pace for your DH.

I swam in our lovely cold sea yesterday at lunchtime… I just felt that I’ve been paddling and looking at it long enough.. time to benefit from having it so close and while I can scoot down to the beach at lunchtime.. 🏖

@snowflake56 i didn’t have a great FD yesterday either so am resetting today 🙄!

@daffodil2010 sorry to hear you are sore… I know how it feels to feel like you are moaning a lot about aches and pains (you are not 😂) but I firmly believe most of my issues are down to menopause on top of autoimmune stuff.

Pains in feet like plantar fasciitis are very common – don’t ask me why… have a listen back to Joe Duffy’s Liveline on rte radio – they focused on menopause last Wednesday – Friday… incredible how many women our age are suffering. I also recommend the Irish Menopause page on FB – so much information there and many people reporting this symptom. I’ve been on this page for a year or so and it’s a mine of info. It’s good to dip into but there’s a lot of activity on it now after last week’s programmes.

    I can do this – AGAIN 😂💪

    Day 11 – Canada – FD800

Good morning. Had a pretty good FD yesterday and today I’m going to keep it to 800 cals.

@basyjames – sorry to hear your DH was laid off. It’s a difficult time. Hopefully something good will come your way.

@daffodil2010 – thanks for writing what you eat on FDs, it would be interesting to hear from others too. I find I can get stuck in a rut with my meals, especially when it’s only 500 cals. Many years ago I had terrible pain in my heel. No idea what caused it but after about 2 weeks it just disappeared – I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.

@snowflake56 – the lawn is freshly mowed and looks good, now I have to get a trimmer to tidy up around the fence and flower beds. In my younger years this was no big deal but now it feels like a great accomplishment, ha ha ha. My lawn is about 7000 sq ft, if I could I’d turn it into a forest :).

@ihl – darn annoying taps! Good that you have the skills to do the work though. Thanks for the BMR vs TDEE tip, very useful and something I’ll revisit.

    Good luck all.

    Day 11 – USA/GA – NFD

    ONE YEAR ON 5:2!

May 11, 2020: Weight at start of 5:2 was 271 lbs.
    May 11, 2021: Weigh-in today is 224 lbs.

Total weight loss in the year of 5:2 is 47 lbs.

Actual weight loss from high point (Jan. 21, 2020) of 279 lbs. to low point (May 5, 2021) of 222 lbs. is a total of 57 lbs lost.

My goal is 154 lbs. If I get close to that, to a healthy weight/BMI, then I’ll be satisfied. Getting to 202 will be a great milestone, meaning I’ll no longer be considered obese, but “overweight.” It’s in reach for this year, hopefully by the end of summer.

Good luck to our pocket listers today!

    Second post …. Irony

Can anyone explain? When I was changing the mixer tap in the kitchen this morning, I emptied the cupboard under the sink, the base of the cupboard was rather dirty …. the only things in there are cleaning products !?!?

All done dusted and clean, no leaks, done garden jobs, might not be here in the morning, going fishing.

    Cheers, IHL

    Day 11 – Rural Nebraska, USA – FD800

Yesterday was a lovely day. Neither son could be here for very long at all on Sunday as they both work in restaurants and couldn’t get off, so they spent the entire day here yesterday. We had a lovely meal of cheeses and appetizers, then spent the afternoon playing pinochle and a new board game called Wingspan.

The scale was 150.4 this morning, so I’ve done some damage over the last few days, and really should be doing a FD500, but I know my will power isn’t going to be up to that, so I’ll settle for 800 and know that will be helpful to that scale!

And that’s all I can take time for this morning; with my hymn fest coming up on Thursday, and other obligations between now and then, I’m racing. Hopefully, I’ll be able to sit and read everyone’s chatter later today.

Even when I’m silent on the board, I’m thinking of you all!

Day 11 North Canton OH NFD

The audit continues and the end is in sight.

sorry to hear about your achy feet @daffodil2010 and you are not moaning, you are seeking support; and we happy to support you just as you have in the past lent support to others. I hope you feel better soon.

Talking about menopausal aches and pains, I have had pain in my left elbow that just wont go away. It came upon me one day and since then, it has decided to stay. I am not sure what is causing it but I don’t like it. I even have trouble lifting heavy things with only my left hand now – and that is unheard of! I was completing bicep curls with 25 pound weights just a few months ago. I have to go see my doctor, and I will once I complete this audit.

@jaifam it is nice to see my husband slow down a bit and engage with us at home more.

Second post I hit the submit button by accident – oops

@snowflake56 he is very experienced and there are jobs posted which he has applied for. So we will see how it goes.

@ I hate lettuce you so ornery 😁😁😁

@northgeorgia congratulations on your anniversary and looking forward to celebrating your losses

@stitchincarol thinking about you too 🥰🥰🥰

    Day 11 UK NFD

Ha ha @i-hate-lettuce yes I know what you mean 🧹Have a good fish 🎣

Done some looking back and appear to have been the same weight now since end Feb which if I was maintaining would be great but I’m supposed to be losing So going to try extra hard this week to get moving

You have my sympathy @daffodil2010 DH had that a couple of years ago was dreadful but as others have said disappeared as mysteriously as it arrived Let’s hope yours is short lived

    See you all tomorrow x

So I have been continuing eating for 3 days and 4 times, all binge eatings. I feel hot and bloated. I have not been walking for a while because I feel lazy. I need to do extended water fast and resume walking probably in the evening hours as the sun will goes down. Today is day 1 of my water fasting. I am determined to be strong and go through it!

    Thanks

    @snowflake56
    @ihl
For answering the question about TDEE, interesting point about staying close to BMR, I will give that some thought.
Run day today which was lovely at 7.30am in the local woods – a great and energising way to start the day. Used my hand weights too which sit beside my desk and I do 2 mins or reps when I get up to make myself a drink. Adds up pretty well by the end of the day.
I have lots of social events planned for when we can resume indoor socialising here in the UK (from 17 May) and so I remember from when I fasted last time, that it really fitted well around this type of thing.
I plan to skip a meal or two on the days I am going out in the evening – lessen any damage!
My BMI is currently 28 and so I want to get it back to well under 25 to feel comfortable again; my ‘fighting weight’ so to speak.
Have a good day tomorrow everyone.

    Day 11 Minnesota, USA FD

I’ve been busy and haven’t checked in since Saturday, I think.
Lovely Mother’s Day Sunday but yes, I did consume more food and drink than I had planned. But it was such an enjoyable day with family.

Yesterday, Day 10 was a NFD, but I was inactive physically, as I had a lot of paperwork to do. That is not a very efficient combination for weight loss.

Today is a FD 500. I had a wonderful 3K + walk and have been working in the garden/yard getting things ready for a full planting towards the end of the week. The meteorologists have promised that tonight will be the last night of spotty frost, and everyone is eager to finally put plants in the ground without fear. That will be my whole focus for the rest of the week (outside of a general health physical in a couple days–long overdue as for most during covid). I absolutely can not wait to get into the garden!

Good luck fasters and mindful eaters.

    Day 11 – 2nd post

@northerndawn Yes, I’ve been bad today, too. First day of an all day virtual conference with the state office — snacking took over as did a not so pretty supper of leftover Captain D’s. Tomorrow’s FD will be tough. Thankfully, I gave away half the small ham left over from mother’s day (I may have just under 2 lbs of ham left, plus a couple servings of slaw, stuffing, and homemade macaroni and cheese). Then Thursday night, I have a late dinner meeting with a civic group (ughh, I hate eating in the 6 to 9 pm slot). So, I totally get trying to be mindful on a NFD. I will need to do that on Thursday.

    Day 12, Emden Germany, FD

Yesterday I was too busy with my stitching work to eat so I thought I could make it a FD as well. Going for another one today.

@daffodil2010 You’re not moaning, you have a problem and as it seems to be a problem some of us experienced, it’s good to mention it. I hope you can do something about it.

@jaifaim Not everything we plan does work but the nice thing about 5:2 is that we can take another day to fast. Gosh, you’re already swimming in the sea, the nearby North Sea only has 8°C. I guess yours isn’t much warmer, brrr.

@dvw That’s a lot of lawn, we don’t have that much. We don’t have a trimmer so the grass near the flower borders tends to be a bit too high but it doesn’t bother us. On my FDs I prefer to eat yoghurt with berries, a slice of rye knäckebrot with cottage cheese, a bit of olive oil, basil leaves and tomato and a scrambled egg. On colder days I often have chicken broth with broccoli and a bit of crème fraîche. I put your name on the PL but I’m not sure if you’re fasting today.

@i-hate-lettuce Ha, I checked our cleaning products cupboard and yes, it looks like yours!

@stitchincarol Being busy is good, as long as you like what you do it’s fine and it seems you do.

@basyjames It must be nice to have your DH involved more with the family.

    Day 12 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

Thank you so much @jaifaim, @dvw, @basyjames, @brightonbelle, and our lovely host @snowflake56 for your kinds words re my grumps about feet. I don’t feel so bad about moaning, and it’s interesting that so many others have suffered something like it too.

When you don’t have happy feet then its hard to keep the rest of the body happy. However, I put a grounding patch on it yesterday morning while I posted here, took it off and went to work, pain seems to be subsiding. Mighty strange, but hopefully it will go soon.

Thanks @jaifaim for the Joe Duffy tip…..I never really get to listen to Joe and when I do there are usually crazies “talking to Joe”, but I will look up last week’s shows. I will also look for that FB page. All ladies helping each other out, love it ☺️

Not weighing every day, just for a change, but delighted to see an inch loss here and there, sleep is so good now, feeling well, BP super normal…..so many things to be grateful for.

    Happy Hump Day 🐪

    Day 12 UK – NFD

Not doing anything at the moment as I have an ongoing migraine which won’t go away.

So will update once I am ok again.

Catch you all later this week hopefully!

    Day 12 – Ireland – CD 🚫 ✅ 🏋️‍♀️ 🤸🏻‍♀️

    Hi all!

Good to hear you are in better form @daffodil2010 and yes I am ABSOLUTELY not a fan of that show… even the intro music makes me cringe.. and I would never hear it as working thankfully 😂 but I have to hand it to him for committing three shows to the topic last week.

For everyone in the UK, Davina McCall has a documentary on the menopause topic on CH4 tonight which should be interesting.

I am not in tip top form at the moment (who is?)but find it really does swing In roundabouts at the moment with all that is going on… so just taking every day as it comes and getting out and about as much as I can… 👍

@snowflake56 yes it was soooo cold! Think about 9-10 degrees… not sure.. But a beautiful day… it was more a splash and dash rather than a full on swim – I felt that I need to use my beach before I’m back in the office wishing I had done so during the pandemic… one thing I’ve found though is that it makes me so hungry so not sure it’s great for me on FDs..

@brightonbelle I’m bobbing around the same weight too.. so need to really focus as I don’t think I’ve been doing as well as I could… i was really happy to get yo where I am now but I’d like to drop 4lbs and if I get stuck then I’ll be happy… 🤗

@lizchangus I hope your WFD went well! I only ever tried it once or twice and found it to be very tough…

Thinking of those past FD pals who are not posting these days… I hope everyone is ok!

    Day 12 OMAD London

Just popping in to say hello. I finally decided it might be an idea to weigh myself, despite being very resistant to the scales. I was very pleased to find I’m 12st 13 lbs, with a BMI of 25.3. I jumped off the scales really quickly, before they changed their mind. I’m still doing a version of OMAD, but adding in two days of around 500 calories just to get things moving in the right direction. Still no alcohol, which is my prime barrier to losing weight. On the menopause subject, I looked at the BBC website about Davina McCall’s programme, and found this link. I’ve not watched it all but it looks fascinating.

Yesterday was a good FD800 and today I’m going to try a regular FD. I’m not seeing any changes on the scale and I’d still like to drop 6 lbs. I have to stop kidding myself and get back to the program. It’s the snacking, urggg.

@northgeorgia – congratulations on your amazing accomplishment.
@ihl – so funny, my cupboard looks pretty bad too, ha ha ha.
@fivetwofan5252 – sorry about your migraine, hope you feel better soon, I can commiserate.
@snowflake56 – I’ll be joining you today. Thanks for your menu for your fast days. I think I’ll pick up some cottage cheese today.

    Take care all.

    Day 12 UK NFD

Yes @jaifaim – that’s how I feel too, going for the big effort this week 💪

Wow well done on the drinking @emma-taylor , I’m managing the DTF but to cut completely is very impressive 👏

I too will be watching the Davina program at some point this week , let’s see ?

    Happy 🐫day all

Day 12 – Rural Nebraska, USA

My FD yesterday turned into an EFS day as I polished off the last half of a box of gingersnaps (cookies) I’ve been ignoring for six months or more. It’s actually my first EFS in many months, and I can’t quite figure out what triggered it. The worst? I was at a solid 151 this morning and can’t even bring myself to be horrified.

This is a bad, bad sign, but at the moment, I’m racing to finish up everything for the hymn fest tomorrow (this “I don’t work full time, but am simply a volunteer for lots of thing” is an extremely misleading piece of information, LOL!!!), so worrying about weight is going to have to wait.

So I’ll simply put one foot in front of the other, get everything done that needs doing, give myself the weekend to relax and regroup, and then I’ll hit that RESET button on Monday. Right?

I’m thinking of you all, and WILL catch up on posts eventually!

    Day 12 USA – NFD

Had a good FD yesterday (almost unplanned … got very busy, so didn’t eat) but happy with that. Will be off to Silver Sneakers this morning. Kind of overdid on Monday, so won’t use very heavy weights today. All is well. Going out to dinner tonight, so another reason the FD was good yesterday.

@stitchincarol – Prayers for a great hymn fest! You have worked so hard on that, I am sure it will be well received. I know exactly what you mean by “work’ as a volunteer. People don’t understand.

@northgeorgia – you are just amazing! Congratulations on your great progress so far

@emma-taylor – i am content with my BMI right at 25. I think lower BMI’s might be over-rated. Ha ha

    Onward and downward.

Day 12, UK – NFD which has turned into a FD.

Yesterday almost turned into a FD as I missed lunch. I don’t do breakfast. I was out and about with work all day and missed the opportunity to eat. By 4pm I was starving so stopped off en route home and grabbed a sandwich and a bottle of water with added electrolytes as I hadn’t drunk enough either and was feeling a little light headed.

Today was pretty much the same so I have decided to make it a FD instead of tomorrow when I’ll be working from home.

@jaifaim. You’re so brave swimming in the see at this time of year. We often used to take the kids on holiday to South Wales at this time of the year and the water was always freezing. So much so that I bought myself a wetsuit for swimming! Come July/August it’s much more civilised.

@stitchincarol. Hope your hymn fest goes well and you don’t have to press the reset button to hard.

@emmataylor. Drinking alcohol is my main problem with regards to weight loss too. You’ve done incredibly well to give it up altogether.

@daffodil2010. Completely agree about happy feet, happy body. Sore feet make you miserable.

@brightonbelle. I’ll be watching the Devina menopause documentary too. Heard her talking about it on the radio yesterday. I had no idea that joint pain was a common symptom!

@ihatelettuce. Yep, my cleaning cupboard is just the same. Oh the irony!

@fivetwofan5252. Hope the migraine wears off soon.

Day 12 North Canton OH FD

I have a running word document on which I write my posts and then copy and paste onto the forum. I started this document on the first of January last year, and it is very interesting to read through the posts over the last year, the struggles and triumphs etc etc. IF has truly become a way of life for me, I am thankful for it, thankful for the members of this forum and just generally thankful.

@lizchangus what you are describing sounds like a vicious cycle, and having been where you are, I would like to encourage you to step away from the extended water fasts and try something more sustainable. Sometimes less is more; instead of trying to waterfast your body into submission, how about a 500 calorie for 36 hours followed by eating to BMR for 36hrs and then another 500 calorie fast for 36 hours. Try this for a full week, then another and then another until it becomes a routine. You may find that helps you step off the binge-fast-binge cycle and then you will begin to make some progress. The best regime for anyone is one that is sustainable over the long term.

@snowflake56 thank you for adding me to the list. And yes, it is nice. He showed me a list this morning that he made to get all the house projects fixed up and taken care of. Stuff he has been putting off for some time because he just could not get to it. I am very thankful for my dear OH, and learning to appreciate who he is and what we have, instead of yearning for what we do not. Losing half of our income means that we have to discuss purchases and coordinate more than we used to and that feels very nice.

@EmmaTaylor congratulations! and LOL at jumping off the scales before it changes its mind

@stitchincarol you are very stressed at the moment and that tends to summon the EFS dragon. Monday will be here soon enough and you can push that reset button

@songbird I am with you on that BMI; when mine dropped to 24 last month, I felt like my face became too angular and of course I lost most of my chest. A decade ago, my BMI was 23 and I looked fine – this must have something to do with getting older. Someone had a great quote about choosing between your face and your figure, the first time I saw that quote, I wondered why – but now I get it.

Hi All – second FD today and it’s been okay. I’m going for just one meal on my FD as I recall from previously fasting, that I get more hungry and find the whole things much harder if I eat another meal. I measure skimmed milk for my tea and also drink a lot of water and both get me through. So far, so good. I had what I can suppose was a water weight loss after my fast on Monday. I will be happy to just see a downward trend over time.

@northerndawn I had my hair cut and sorted a couple of weeks ago and boy did it make me feel better!
@brightonbelle yes I too will be watching the Davina programme. My brain fog at times is just dreadful. It makes the thinking that I need to do in work, much tougher at times.

Second run of the week planned for tomorrow morning in the woods again. Looking forward to it.

Have a good day tomorrow one and all.

    Day 13, NFD, Aus

I had a breakfast meeting with the team, then a work lunch. So you can imagine what that has done to my usual Thursday FD routine!! I am seriously going to have to do OMADs as a regular thing. When I was a teenager I only ever ate dinner. And hey, what worked for 16 yo me has gotta still work now, right?!

I feel behind in posts but everyone seems super busy with lots going on. Thinking of you all and sending out mental support thoughts to those who need a little pick me up.

    Day 13, Emden Germany, NFD

    Good morning everyone!

Inspired through @i-hate-lettuce’s kitchen cupboard experience, I started cleaning the ones in our kitchen. It took me 3 hours to go though all the spices, oils, balsamic vinegars and other things. Lots of it was out of date so easy to throw away. I threw everything I know we’ll never use out too. It looks well organized now but I know this won’t last long as my DH does have another order to put things in. But that’s fine as he does most of the cooking. It’s interesting most of us seem to have the same thing going on with our cleaning cupboard, I’m glad I’m not the only one!

@daffodil2010 It’s interesting you respond so well on the grounding patches, I hope it will have a lasting effect. I only weigh once a week as I know my weight fluctuates.

    @fivetwofan5252 I hope you’re feeling better today!

@jaifaim Everything seems to be on hold at the moment because of the pandemic. It’s difficult to make any plans as you don’t know when things go back to normal again.

@emma-taylor Hi! Well done on avoiding alcohol! How are you and your DH getting on without any travelling at the moment?

@dvw Yes, snacking is a problem. I try to stick to two or three meals only, without any snacking in between. I know that when I start, a chain of bad choices may follow.

@stitchincarol Enjoy your the hymn fest today and try to get in a rhythm from next Monday on.

@songbirdme Being busy is the best way for me to make FDs easy, when time flies I don’t even think about eating. FDs without any plans tend to make me eat more because I go to the kitchen more often, no really to get something to eat but to just look what’s there I could eat when not on a FD. Does this make any sense, when I write it down it just sounds weird?

@basyjames I loved your positive post, we often forget to be thankful for the things we have.

@brewster You’re doing well, unplanned FDs are the best!

@notherndawn I hope your haircut was a success!

@penz How can you plan what to eat when you have a breakfast meeting and a work lunch? Why do so many things at work include food nowadays?

    Have a nice day everyone!

Day 13 – Lake District UK – FD

    Good morning everyone

FD today for me, this time next week will be heading off to see ‘the kids’ first time we will have met up since Christmas 2019 … and an awful lot gone on since then so can imagine its going to be fabulous. After we’ve had our visit with them we head off for a weeks walking break in the Cairngorm National Park, Scotland have now lifted many of the restrictions so we will be able to do our own thing as we have in the past, including visiting some really nice restaurants, which we’ve already booked!

Lovely morning here again, yesterdays fishing trip was slow, not a lot moving, but the wildlife made up for the lack of interest from the fish. Cuckoo’s calling on the fellside, squirrels bouncing around in amongst the trees and numerous birds in full song, so a good morning.

    Take care all

    Day 13 pocket list
    @i-hate-lettuce

    Day 13 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

I had planned to an FD but I have just had a boiled egg, kefir, and an orange for a (rare) breakfast, so that’s a chunk of calories gone from the day. My body was telling me I needed vitamin C and some protein, so I listened ☺️

Salmon salad for lunch, and I know I will have food this evening so an NFD it is. Next week so for FD.

Something is working for my poor left foot…grounding patch, time, I don’t know, but the door is definitely getting better and I could walk without limping yesterday. It’s still sore but not excruciating, yay!

@EmmaTaylor, I had a few weeks off booze when I had the appendicitis but I still stayed the same weight so I am back to DTF again. And it’s thanks to you that I have the grounding patches. My grounding sheet also going well.

@jaifaim, thank you so much for the FB group, I joined yesterday and it really is a mine of information. And since Joe Duffy the voices are louder. I will try to listen to the podcasts over the weekend. And DH recorðd the Davina programme for me so will watch that this evening. Thanks again 👍

    Have a lovely Thursday all.

    Day 13 – Ireland – CD 🚫 ✅ 🏋️‍♀️ 🤸🏻‍♀️

    Hi all!
I’m sooo tired today… very hard to motivate myself to work but work I must!! Sometimes it’s hard when you are at home… I’m going to try for another CD today.
    @dvw I’m stuck too… Hopefully I’ll see a drop soon 🤞and @brightonbelle yes! Big efforts required! 💪

@northerndawn I hope you enjoyed your haircut! I have mine booked for Monday – I can’t wait and it is badly needed!!!

@brewster I have a wetsuit as thought I might swim in the winter but I never go around to it… next winter maybe 🤔

@daffodil2010 the FB group is great.. sometimes just soo much info and it can be daunting but…knowledge is power 💪. The ladies who set it up and emailed Joe to start the discussion are just amazing 😇.
The programme last night was very good and for many a lot of the information would have been quite shocking 😮.

@i-hate-lettuce I’m envious of your Scottish break! I’m dying to get over to my my pals over there. Your reunion with your family will be very very special 💕

@fivetwofan5252 migraine is just so debilitating and painful… I hope you are on the mend.

So many comments to make but running out of time 🙄great to see everyone here and checking in to say hello …Better go focus on work..

    Day 13 – USA/GA – NFD

Weigh-in: 222 lbs. Going to be a tough day at work: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. schedule with a working dinner. Whew. May do a 4:3 next week.

Day 13 – Rural Nebraska, USA

Thirty-two years ago today at this moment, I was dressing for my college graduation at ten o’clock in the morning. By noon I was dressing for my wedding at seven o’clock in the evening.

It was a busy day. 👰🤵💒💍🥂🎓👩‍🎓💑💐💕💞

    Okay, enough emojis, LOL!!

Today is the hymnfest and I think I and my choir are ready. And if we’re not, oh well, right?

The scale even was down below 150 again, so it didn’t look quite so awful as it did yesterday, AND I’m finding I truly do care, so I’ll be ready for that reset button on Monday. @northgeorgia, I just saw you were at 222; such lovely news!

Should anyone want to listen, I’m throwing caution and anonymity to the wind, and giving you the link (you don’t have to be a member of facebook to listen): https://www.facebook.com/stmatthewchurchcedarbluffs/?rf=150471318303552 It’s at 7pm, but you can also listen after the fact because the live broadcast will be posted as a video. And if no one does listen, that is absolutely okay, LOL!

Tomorrow morning? I’ll get to read all the posts I’ve missed!

Day 13 North Canton OH NFD

Deep cleaning day for me today as I wait for the results of our audit to come in. My house is going to be sparkling by the time I am done with it.

    Onward and downward my friends

    Day 13 USA – NFD

Yesterday’s “DayAfterFastDay” wasn’t too awful. Out to dinner did include some lovely creme brulee for dessert. But MFP says the whole ramekin is 230 calories, and DH and I split it, so not too bad.

@stitchincarol – thanks so much for the link to your hymn fest! I have a ZOOM meeting of 100 Women Who Care at 6:30, but ought to be able to catch at least part of the program. Excited to hear you all!

    Onward and downward.

Hi everyone. NFD today. Not too bad but possibly too many carbs. Planning a third fast this week, maybe tomorrow or Saturday. The two fasts this week have been okay. Scales showing a loss this morning. Had a lovely run in the woods before a day at my desk and soooo much work. 27 years married tomorrow – not quite sure where all those years have gone. Have a good day tomorrow one and all.

    Day 14 AUS FD800

Quick morning check in here for accountability.

Today I put on a pair of work pants that didn’t zip up a couple of months ago, and they fit comfortably!

Weighed myself at the gym this morning and I’m another 0.8k down from Monday. I’m doing FD800s Monday to Friday, and allowing myself to eat to BMR on the weekends – mostly that means I can have a few drinks with friends or a meal out.

I’m now just over 2k from goal weight – closet I’ve been since before the pandemic.

    Day 14 – Ireland – CD 🚫 ✅ 🏋️‍♀️ 🤸🏻‍♀️

Wow!!! Happy anniversary @stitchincarol!!! That rally was a busy day 32 years ago!!

    Happy anniversary too to @timetochange!
May is clearly a popular month for marriage 💕

@basyjames it sounds like you and your DH have lots of plans – that is so great to be able to get to things that have been put on the long finger… like many here my house needs a good bit of work but I seem to
always find something else to do… 🙄

    Well done @litprof 👏

Have a happy day all. I’m up early for a pre-work sunny cycle🚴 . First week in a long time that I’ve checked in regularly – it feels good!

    Day 14 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

Sunny Friday yay! Straight after work, I get home, have a shower, then into the camper van and heading Northwest for a couple of nights. First time all year that we can do this, restrictions banning movement lifted, so we are outta here.

    Have a great weekend.

Day 14 – Lake District UK – NFD

    Good morning everyone

Steady FD yesterday, weekly weigh in OK just 1 lb over my lowest so good week maintaining, happy to be ‘stable’!

Despite being a cool morning, the plants that were evicted from the greenhouse have been sheltered and will be hardened off enough to be planted out for summer now. The frogs and birds will have to do their bit protecting them from any slugs.

    Take care all

    Day 14 – UK – BMR day

Have not managed a FD yet this week despite all my good intentions when I last posted on Monday 🤭My fasting mojo has gone AWOL for a bit but I’m sure it’s just lurking around trying to find it’s way back to me 🤞

Had a lovely walk on Tuesday and managed a wander through the formal gardens at Rydal Hall where there is currently an exhibition of outdoor sculptors by the Cumbrian Sculptors Group and the flowers are also starting to look fabulous there. Baked a pavlova base using the left over egg whites from that egg custard tart I made over the weekend – left it to cool down in the oven overnight to finish off the next day

On Wednesday met up with DD and did 3 x 1hr dog walks before we had a well deserved picnic sitting out by the sea, just the two of us ❤️ love our mother/daughter time! Driving back home it started to rain and did not stop until late afternoon then more sunshine – Pavlova was covered with a mixture of cream and yogurt and topped with mixed berries, kiwi fruit and passion fruit (very Australian of me?)

Yesterday did my usual 7am Broga followed by a 9am Happy Hour session then met up with an old friend who is up here on holiday – was lovely to catch up sitting in a lovely cafe garden whilst enjoying coffee and cake!

Today is overcast with a light breeze but should stay dry so planning on getting out for good walk and hoping for a BMR day as I know I don’t have a FD in me today……

@wacm – your cycling trip covered a lot of ground – scenery must have have been fab – wish we could see the photos
@basyjames – sorry to hear that your DH has been laid off – 🤞something good comes up for him and Re your elbow pain – might it be tennis elbow? which tends to cause pain and tenderness on the outside of your elbow
@snowflake56 – I’m also with you – no shop bought sweet treats in the house, if it’s there I’ll eat it all as OH does not indulge but he likes a homemade dessert/cake – thinking of you and your friend 🤗
@brewster – don’t feel bad – I too had planned to post daily this month but have not managed to do so
@litprof – kudos to you for sticking to your plan and it seems to be working for you too
@timetochange – I use MFP (the free version) to help me keep an eye on my calories – Re:- TDEE/BMR -The calculator on here says that my TDEE is 1547 and my BMR is 1125 if I choose the lightly active activity level – in real life I think I am moderately active but choose the lower option to help keep me in maintenance so not many calories to play around with….Current BMI is just below 21 and I feel good at this weight so aiming to stay here – Happy 27th Anniversary to you and your DH today 💑
    @lizchangus – great advice from @basyjames
@daffodil2010 – heel pain does not sound like plantar fasciitis which usually presents with sharp pain between your arch and heel, feels worse when you start walking and better when resting, difficulty raising toes off floor??? Have a fab weekend away in your camper van 🤞on the weather for you
@i-hate-lettuce – shame about the tap but great that you have the skills to deal with it yourself – OH and I would have to call in someone 🤭 I hate to admit it but we are both useless with any form of DIY and I would hate to check the cupboard under my sink – might need to include that in my next round of cleaning!! and what a lovely treat to look forward to next week, seeing the family and enjoying a holiday in the Cairngorm National Park
@northgeorgia – Happy 1st anniversary on 5:2 and great job on shedding those 47lbs/57lbs – a great start to your weight loss journey – you can do it!
@emma Taylor – good to hear from you – the vision of you jumping off the scales really quickly, before they changed their mind made me smile – whoever on one of our challenges named the scales Cruella was right 🤣🤣 Well done on avoiding alcohol! I wish I could, I know when I drink I eat more but I do enjoy my wine so trying to only drink on 2/3 days of the week and that seems to generally work for me, well most of the time 😉
@stitchincarol – thanks for sharing the link – I checked out your hymn fest video this morning – fab choir in good form and Happy Anniversary to you and your DH for yesterday 💑

Aiming for a better last 2 weeks of this May 2021 5th Anniversary Challenge as I want to start my birthday month in a good place weight wise i.e below 57kg ideally giving me some wiggle room – so Monday 17th WILL be a FD and no wine until my birthday in June (except for Friday 21st when we have a special meal delivery) and getting back to twice weekly FDs

“If I quit now, I will soon be back to where I started. And when I started, I was desperately wishing to be where I am now”

    Day 14 – Canada – FD

Just a quick check-in to stay accountable. Life has just become busy but I’m trying to stay on track.

Thanks @snowflake56 for adding me to the pocket list 🙂

    Good luck to all.

    Day 14 – USA/GA – NFD

Thanks, everyone for your words of support and congratulations!

    Let’s all do this!

Today’s weigh-in: STILL at 222, even after yesterday’s regular lunchbox meal, the very late night supper with the chamber, and a night of very little sleep. I’m surprised! I had a larger than normal bowl of oatmeal yesterday morning. I attribute a lot of my maintenance on NFDs to satisfying oats in the morning; not 100% sure why unless it is curbing the snacking, not too high in calories, and adding lots of fiber?

Anyway, running late again! Thankfully, it’s a half day Friday.

    Good luck to everyone!

Day 14 – Rural Nebraska, USA – CD

It’s six in the morning, and I’m awake and up. Everything went well yesterday, and now I get to glow in the joy of the memories of the hymn fest…and push that reset button for my eating, LOL! I still have a couple of busy days, but it’s just typical busy, and nothing stressful.

@jaifaim Thanks for mentioning Joe Wicks; I looked him up and think I’ll try one of his workouts and see if he can motivate me to exercise more. 😉

@litprof Loved this: “it’s interesting to me how quickly my relationship with my own body improves once I start treating it with more care.” Ain’t that the truth! Why, then, is it sometimes so difficult to treat our bodies well??? Congratulations on the work pants fitting so nicely now!

@snowflake56 How is your friend faring after a week of treatment? I imagine it will get far worse before there’s a chance she gets better. I will keep her in prayer that the treatment can work a miracle of cure for her. And, “I’m under my goal weight so it’s fine.” You are an inspiration! What “stitching work” is keeping you too busy to eat??? (you’d think that, with a name like “stitchincarol” I would fully understand the concept, but I don’t! 😂🤣😂🤣)

@i-hate-lettuce As I read this from a week ago, “the weather turned very quickly, there was a tremendous hail storm,” I was so startled to HEAR your rain–and realized it had just started raining here. 😂🤣 And I’m so glad you corrected the math: I was wondering how 2K steps accomplished 1,000 calories, LOL! I’ll just bet next week can’t come soon enough as you get ready to see your kids and then head to Scotland!

@betsylee I think I remember Mother’s Day in England was in March…ah, yes, just read what @at said: “Mothering Sunday has been celebrated on the fourth Sunday in Lent, in the UK and Ireland, since the 16th century” Another fascinating detail! Father’s Day in the States is the 3rd Sunday in June, not specifically the 20th. @snowflake56 How fascinating that in Germany, Father’s Day is not only a Thursday, but on Ascension! I wonder how that decision came about? Thanks for asking the question; it’s been fun to read the various dates!

@timetochange Welcome back, and happy anniversary!

@daffodil2010 “hopefully I can stay off the BP meds and the spike was just (ha ha, “just”) the appendix bursting…..” Just, indeed! I laughed out loud when I read that. So glad your BP is staying steady so far…and delighted your heel isn’t hurting as badly now; hoping it continues to rapidly improve!

@wacm What a lovely bike trip that was! DH would adore doing that, but after two really bad bike accidents for me, I’ve lost my love of biking and mostly just feel fear. Plus, DS24 borrowed my mostly-still-new bike a year ago and it got stolen, so I don’t even own one anymore…

@brewster How lovely to be down 4 pounds this month; well done!

@basyjames I’m so sorry that your DH was laid off, and pray that a new, more perfect job shows up at exactly the right time…AFTER he’s finished that list of his, LOL! And, about BMIs and gaunt faces: over my years of fluctuating weight, one thing I’ve learned for certain is that even when we’ve hit a certain weight and stay there, our bodies aren’t done losing size and shifting that size. I imagine your face looked so gaunt not because your BMI was too low, but because the weight dropped so quickly. I had foot surgery several days ago and for the first couple of days the pain meds kept me asleep almost non-stop (DH wasn’t on top of how many to take and when) and that meant I pretty much didn’t eat for three days. I was overweight enough at the time that I went from chubby face to thin face and I still remember standing in front of the mirror thrilled with how good I looked, LOL! So, for what that’s worth, a BMI of 23 will not always mean you have a gaunt face.

@penz This made me laugh out loud: “Mojo has stayed home and I’m travelling again. I must remember to pack my mojo when I’m away again next week.”

@dvw Wow, that’s a HUGE lawn! How long did it take you to mow it? I’ll bet you burned lots of calories and walked lots of steps in the process!!

@northgeorgia Congratulations on the one-year anniversary, and the self-restraint it represents. You’ve done so well, and will continue your path of success! How long has it been so you were in the 154 to 202 range?

@fivetwofan5252 Aww, so sorry for your migraine problems. The thing I love the most of being menopausal is that I rarely have migraines now, but I suffered boatloads for years, so know well what you’re talking about. Hopefully it’s all gone as I type. Do you have meds for them? I’m so thankful that migraines these days have meds that work; my poor mom had migraines all the time but there were no meds in her day.

@at “My fasting mojo has gone AWOL for a bit but I’m sure it’s just lurking around trying to find it’s way back to me 🤞” Hopefully that’s true for my own, LOL!

Thanks, everyone, for the kind comments on the hymn fest and on our anniversary. It really was a lovely, lovely day, and DH and I were happy to celebrate with a hymn fest. But, in addition, I’d made four lovely do-ahead appetizers that DS29 and DS24 shared with us after the hymn fest, along with a lovely bottle of wine DS29 gave me for Mother’s Day, and we chatted and laughed for another couple hours, so it felt just perfect.

And now it’s almost exactly two hours later from when I started reading and commenting on posts. I will try not to get so far behind in posts again! 🥰 Have a grand day, everyone, and successful at whatever you’re aiming to eat/not eat.

    USA. Day 14. FD800

Glad to see that some of you have been able to return to some of your normal activities. It is so good to feel like we may be beginning to see the end of this pandemic.

LitProf, so glad to see that your FD800 is going well. Daffodil2010, so glad to hear that you, your husband, and camper are back in business.
