  • Day 22, Amsterdam FD

I am feeling pretty annoyed, but not sure if I should be taking it so seriosuly – I went from 63.6kg on Saturday (my lowest ever) to 66.3 today – way over my April end weight! I think it’s because on Sunday we went to the gym and I did a pretty intense weights session, because I really watched what I was eating this weekend, (except for the odd white wine and G&T – but they don’t usually add much for me).

So I am thinking that it has got to be new muscle mass, or is that completely off-base? If someone can reassure me that it will go away soon I would be so grateful. I was doing so well. Really makes me want to stop working out!

Sorry, rant over – @flourbaby just read your recent post which made me smile – you’re right, it is ALL GOOD! Must get over myself. My tummy is so much tighter than it used to be (though I never measured – shame).

Hope everyone’s having a splendid day.

    Day 22 London NFD

    Eating mindfully.

@daffodil2010 – assimilation, hoping one day to get there, how wonderful to have it.

@molij – looking up the Bosh cookbook. Ta

@emmataylor & @metatauta – it’s a good idea re renting and will discuss with OH but think he doesn’t want to let this one go. I’m struggling with head and heart and he’s all heart and dreams!

@joalan – hi and well done.

@basyjames – congrats on defeating the plateau.

@emma1202 – venting allowed, understand the conflict of emotions, your vigilance of self control is amazing. Well done.

Lots of people seem to be getting their heads together and sounds like the end of May is going to be a good ending for many. Wishing everyone a positive day.

    Day 22 UK CD

Not the most successful FD yesterday but a good CD. Managed to reset my head when i felt the first tinge of disappointment: it may not have been a good FD but it wasn’t a bad day, and in the bigger picture i’m moving in the right direction.

I took time this morning to pause getting dressed and measure myself, then spent a moment remembering where the tape used to sit – when my fat suit was almost 6 inches bigger, only 6 months ago! Why on earth would i feel disappointed that a FD slipped? 6 months ago my weight was still climbing, I slept badly and had more pain, anxiety and fatigue.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the tyranny of the scales, and worth remembering they are only one measure of progress – not everything comes down to numbers. Energy, sleep, sense of well-being, self-care, relationship with food and with myself. All of these have improved exponentially since I started this WOL – who knew? What a lot to be thankful for, and when we’re encouraging rather than judging ourselves so much more is possible. We are doing a wise and wonderful thing.

@joalan welcome to the May Challenge – it’s never too late to join, and sounds like you’re off to a strong start. Do add yourself to the spreadsheet if you’d like to
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CNb1go2njG3xEQlkqcLwVYnkcptzymGD06Jw0kb9aJI/edit#gid=0

@stoic well done in hitting the reset button! It must be really interesting fasting alongside those who are keeping Ramadan.

@emma1202 sounds like a tough weekend, “this is time out and i can relax” suddenly and unexpectedly becomes yet another time of temptation – actually living with it! Exhausting to have the feeling of constantly being tested – and particularly that our efforts & goals & feelings are not understood by our nearest and dearest. (I must admit i was so delighted when my mother and my daughter both bought me tiny but very chocolatey Easter treats, bc they realised I wouldn’t want to undo all that work.) So many feelings are tied up with food and the more we try and suppress them the more they sneak out! I need to physically take myself away and do something else to get some perspective, otherwise the negative feelings and sense of battle become a constant presence.

Hope you all have a happy Tuesday – be good to yourself, without extra calories x

    Day 22…..Florida…..NFD but controlled!

It’s Tuesday! Last week, my OH asked me for a date……So tonight is date night! I have no clue where we are going or what’s up, so I’m pretty excited! The OH and I have been together for over twenty years, we enjoy spending time together, staying connected is an important part of our relationship. So, when we don’t have other obligations, we are together whether it’s at home relaxing or together just running errands. But last week, he called me at work and asked me out on a date. I happily said yes, all though he won’t tell me where we are going!

@at…….I’m still holding you tight! It’s working for both of us!

My weight is slowly dropping in the right direction. Just two small little lbs and I’ll be back to my lowest….. once I get there I am seriously considering moving on to maintenance.

Okay….Well it’s time for me to get the work day finished and over with!

I dream of living in a world where a chicken can cross the road and his motives are not questioned!

    Day 22 North Wales NFD

@dingping The people who wrote the Bosh cook book have also made videos which you can find on YouTube. I moved to North Wales 14 years ago from the Midlands. My husband did the long commute back for work every week but in the end found it too much and took redundancy. Both of my parents have become ill and died whilst I was living here and driving back and forth was very difficult at times. Our three children live off the M1 corridor so when we go and visit it’s a long drive. My eldest daughter has two adorable daughters and at the moment I travel every three or four weeks to Sheffield to spend time with them and help out because they are very small. I love North Wales, it’s my husbands home but I would love to move closer to the family. My husband’s mother is elderly and ill so a move at the moment is not possible. North Wales is beautiful and it’s fantastic living near the sea but views are not everything. Hope this helps and is not too negative. 😳

    Day 22 – USA – NFD

@dingping, do you have such a concept where you live as a lease/option to buy? That would be ideal, and you could tell the owners you have “first dibs” on purchasing at the end of the lease term, but would be willing to show the house to prospective buyers as the lease ends. That’s a good compromise for all, don’t you think?

    Day 22, Gozo, Malta, fd

Yesterday s fast day turned around 1,100 calories.

    Today is another fast day.

I cooked roasted potatoes which I boiled for five minutes first and baked corn fed chicken with rosemary and olive oil. My expecting daughter said she loved eating it.

My son has another exam this afternoon.

Onwards and downwards, have a great Tuesday everyone.

    Day 22
    2nd post

@michelinme – love your reflections, we are so good at encouraging others but quick to judge ourselves (maybe because we know our own failings so well) but how destructive, ‘so much more is possible’. Wise words.

@molij – Thanks re further info re Bosh.
Re: relocation – OH’s family come form Anglesey but only an elderly aunt there now, his parents moved away as young adults and sadly both died in his 20’s so he’s never had to face a lot of my family concerns or understand my wish to be involved fully with g’kids when they come along. He’s not so great with emotional thinking. A two hour drive anywhere seems doable but when it stretches to four/five, not so sure.

I have already promised my mum that I would spend one weekend a month with her and that she can come whenever she wants and for however long she wants but at 85yrs I’m not sure how often she will want to make such a journey, even if chauffeured. Have also almost promised my daughter that I would come down once a week and support her should she needed it when children come along – crazy commitments as mum and daughter in different parts of the country!!!!

I have wanted this dream country escape for a long time and now that we are both on the same page it is such a shame the one house my husband says ‘I could live here’, it is me, having doubts because of its distant location. I love the house and the idea of hills and sea on our doorstep but it’s all the other stuff as well! We sold our house 1 1/2 years ago and are living in a studio flat so there is a sense of urgency now to find somewhere as neither of us can continue living on top of each other for much longer. I wont the house search to be over as it consumes every day and every weekend but so frightened of making the wrong choice. Aaaagh!!!!

@metatauta – sadly I don’t think that will work. The couple selling want out, because sadly he has a deteriorating condition and needs a more accessible home and location. I think he has accepted selling but being faced with the reality is another matter.

    Day 22 USA (Illinois) NFD

Today will be controlled. Did amazingly well having a potluck meeting Sunday night. Did not overeat, and managed some small servings of the 2 desserts people brought. Rhubarb is in season here now this spring, so one man brought a crisp/cobbler his wife made. The thing about rhubarb is it always takes huge amounts of sugar to offset its sourness. I never make it myself, but had to have a sample. I was right: WAY sweet!

Looks like people are doing pretty well – travels, moving, families, etc.

    Onward and downward.

    Day 22 North Canton FD

@flourbaby I had to laugh at your description of @emma1202 and the rolling pin.

@emma1202 I know you already know this, life is so short and love is way too scarce in this world, please try to enjoy the love your OH was trying to show you. You will lose the 10 pounds, I know that for a fact; everything that happens in between is just part of your journey; and you are almost there.

@rainbowsmile I feel like joining you on the 5 day B2B. I haven’t done a stretch like that in a while, I believe this week is the perfect week to do so; I feel energized and pumped!!!!

Feeling very guilty for bombarding this forum with my house moving dilemmas, as not 5:2 related. Thank you all for being patient and please skip over, sometimes it’s good just to put down on paper to know your own thoughts and others experiences have been helpful in clarifying some of these.
    Many thanks x

    USA NFD Day 22

Hi, everyone! Just checking in! Hope everyone has a great day! 🙂

    Day 22 – USA – NFD

@dingping don’t mean to be a nag or anything, but you may want to follow suit with the sellers’ thinking of having a medical facility nearby if you are at retirement age.

    2nd post

@dingping no need to apologise for anything. On this forum we support each other through everything including house moving dilemmas 🙂

    Day 22 UK NFD

Just a quick check in as I’m still feeling quite poorly. 🤧🤒

But yesterday’s fast went well as I didn’t really have much of an appetite. Had my B12 jab today so hopefully my energy levels should return over the next few days and I can kick these yacky germs up the bum!!!

Day 22 Stevensville Maryland USA CFD

Working on a 66 hour fast. So far so good. Just don’t feel very hungry. Must be the excitement. Out of State guest will start arriving tomorrow. What a lovely time we are all going to have.

Still asking for prayers for my brother, he is determined to make it to the wedding.

The best preparation for tomorrow is to be your best today. Have a great Tuesday everyone.

Day 22 – SW WA USA – FD

Yesterday’s LFD went well. Going for a 500 or less FD today, and then one more tomorrow. Hopefully setting me up well before another retirement celebration Thursday after work.

@daffodil2010 – I like your thinking ahead for maintenance. Thinking & deciding ahead of time help in the successful execution of plans. Also, you highlight the benefit of the flexibility of 5:2 so you can enjoy a meal with your hubby.

@flourbaby – 4 NFDs and no weight gain! I’m impressed. Good for you. That’ll be my goal as I go on a little get-away to the San Juan Islands with my son this Memorial Day weekend coming up.

@Michlenme – TY for sharing your reflections – very helpful!

    @bert1802 – Enjoy your date! 🙂

@songbirdme – I hear you about sweetness needing to be added to rhubarb. I’ve been making a rhubarb compote with stevia & a little lemon. I like using it as a side dish.

@diana123 – Prayers continuing for your brother! On your 66 hour fast, are you doing liquid or food?

    Day 22 OREGON USA

Well, here goes, day after FD – I think I topped out at 710 again. I think I know just what I need to do on THURS to keep the 500 at that ceiling level.

    1. LIMIT my organic nut and raisin mix (1oz eq parts organic macadamia nuts/peanuts/raisins) to ONE srvng per day (125calcal), mixed with 2 cups plain raw vegie mix (46 cal) each time but sure adds up under 500 cal ceiling (!). Total 171cal for lunch

    2. LIMIT my organic mixed berry Kefir ( 4oz kefir + 4oz mixed frzn berries). that’s 129 cals.

    3. So, that’s 300cals before dinner, plus of course water, sparkly water, water, sparkly water, tea, kavita and 0 calorie organic kosher dills just for that tart taste buzz .

    4. Then if I want that nightly IPA, that’s 187 cals so leaves Not.Much for Actual.Dinner.

Maybe, next time, I’ll double up on raw vegie mix and add just half that much in nuts/raisins. Maybe drop the Kefir down to 2 0z only and add more frzn berries. Then maybe find a way to pour down sparkly water and just have 1/2 of IPA we tend to share it anyhow.

Tough stuff, this is ! And this you know, is a real healthy diet ha ha.

    Any ideas ?

Best of TUES luck to all of you today !

    Day 22, UK, NFD

This day turned into a CD, sort of. I’m finishing well below my TDEE so I feel happy about that 🙂

@stoic welcome back onboard 🙂 . We all have time when we fall off the wagon, but as long as we get back on all is good. You will get there, just keep going.

@daffodil2010 it good to have a long term plan, I like that 😎

@dingping no need to apologise, I enjoy reading about your doubts and struggles re house move, I might go through the same thing one day. As @metatauta said, if the owners are moving to be near medical facilities its something to think about 🙂

@ccco you’ve been unusually quiet, are you ok? Hope you are doing well 🙂

    Have a great day/evening everyone 🙂

Moving on to the next day of my 5day b2b2b2b2b at 800 CalS

    Day 23 – Japan – NFD 80.3kg

@catch87 – Water accounts for much of your weight gain. It takes months to build 3kg of muscle as muscle is one of the slowest growing tissues in the body. If a person could gain a couple kg of muscle in a couple days, no one would have a fat problem, but we would probably all be obese in terms of BMI. I just went from 77.7kg to 80.3kg in 24 hours. That is mostly water. For the record though, much of the weight in muscle is also water. Our bodies are mostly water.

Weight is actually a range rather than a single value. You hit yourself on a low weight and then on a higher weight in your range.

    Day 23…NSW… Australia…NFD
    2.40pm Wednesday

    Hi everyone. Just checking in!

Enjoy whatever you are getting up to and bye for now!

@michelinme – awesome job on losing so much fat! 6″ is a huge amount! It do it in only six months is amazing.

    Day 23, Cornwall UK, NFD

Been busy and not focusing on my fasting – naughty me. Just doing basic 5:2 but cheating on the NFDs, which does not work for me. Just revelling in the glorious weather and watching the Chelsea Flower Show, which I love.

@dingping – your move is so interesting and I hear your dilemma. You only have one life, so live it to the max. I’ve lived in lots of places and was drawn to the wildness of Cornwall and the social freedom as there are few pretentions down here. We rented for the first 6 months as it was too difficult house hunting at a distance. I think a view matters if you move a long way to get it, but in the end local friends deliver the happiness. Let us know what happens!

@molij – i too am a Bosh fan! We had a christmas day of their recipes and they are very tasty! Hope they get a TV deal.

Job for today is to stop snacking on the nuts!

    Day 23 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – FD

Yesterday’s NFD was a good one, did not count calories, but had a good solid healthy dinner, although there was a mini ice cream magnum taken in the evening sunshine …plus a couple of After Eight Mints…I am down a half pound this morning. So at 127.5lbs….two lbs to ultimate goal.

When I was successful with weight loss on the Dukan Diet this was the exact weight I decided to go into maintenance on. It had not been my ultimate, but it was just before Christmas 2013 and I figured there was no point trying to lose anymore. And I did maintain around that weight for about a year, but rarely did I get to 127.5 again and slowly crept back up, so I was happy at 129, then 133, then 138….slowly compromising myself until one day I realised I as almost back to where I had started.

Not this time people 🏁 When goal is reached, I might try for a couple more pounds below, but I will never let myself get happy with being 5 pounds above without serious action.

Maintenance is my slippery slope. Losing weight is (relatively) easy….(if you call 10 months to lose 38lbs easy)…..but I have to get into the mindset that weight is health and this WOL will do it.

Thanks @shinything and @annemarilyn for the shout out. Long term planning needs to be done as the finish line is in site.
@dingping I am interested in your moving quandary and looking forward to hearing how it goes. If your offers however are being consistently refused then these could be the blockers that mean you are not supposed to get this house. Maybe there is something else somewhere else. Best of luck 🤗

    Day 23, Amsterdam , NFD

@dykask yes thank you! That’s the best explanation. After I angrily typed my comment above (ha) I did some research and saw that when you tear your muscles doing weights, the water just sort of gathers there. So that explains it. Interestingly I did one of these body analyst tests yesterday at the gym as part of the induction – it came back with some really good results, though I have no idea whether to trust it or not. I did it after a day of fasting (which went well, incidentally). They analysed my water content which came up as high – and the guy told me to lay off the caffeine. He’s probably right. But I do drink an awful lot of water whilst at work (2.5 litres I think on average, plus more at home).

Anyway thank you for a reassuring and insightful message!

Today I feel better as I’ve come down 1.3kg on the scales. Having dinner with a friend tonight – going to try and be good!

    Day 23 – Dubai – NFD

Had a good FD yesterday, pretty much spot on 500 calories. Thanks to the pocket list folks and your support. Today will be a VERY controlled day, I have a job interview coming up in June and want to look good. I’m still toying with the idea of early retirement but obviously not completely sold on it :).

Congratulations @flourbaby for maintaining over the weekend, I too find weekends difficult, you give me hope.

Thanks for the inspirational words @michelinme, so true that we shouldn’t allow the scales to rule our world.

I hope you have a great date @bert1802, sounds like you two were made for each other. Lucky girl.

Thanks for the words of welcome @shinything they really make all the difference.

Thanks for your post @daffodil2010, I would LOVE to be that slim again. I’m aiming for 128 pounds but would be thrilled to be 125.
    Good luck to everybody.

Cornish-Jane nuts are my downfall too. I smacked on them yesterday and on olives and my fast daycame up to 1,000 calories.

    Day 23, London, UK, FD

Quick check-in as I’m “Flat out like a lizard drinking water” at work today!!!

@annemarilyn it’s the first weekend I’ve navigated without regaining what I eradicated during the week and the secret????? ……………………….. for once I stayed below TDEE!!! Who knew???????

@ah-tee, I love nuts of any variety (except walnuts – a purely visual thing!!!) but I don’t have them on FDs simply because those little suckers are calorie bombs!!!! You get a whole lot of salad or veg in general for the calorie cost of a handful of nuts, my snack box on a FD contains a small piece of cheese, cucumber, gherkins. Baby plum tomatoes and red onion; just 122cals for a massive box!!!! I wouldn’t be satisfied if I swapped it for a handful of cashews (although I love them) at 150cals/25g!!!!!

Happy fasting people!!!! Stay strong & keep on keeping on!!!!!!

“Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.” – Winston Churchill

    Day 23, Finland, NFD

Another day of feeling great…I stood on the scales today even though I said I was waiting for end of the month, and was wonderfully surprised to find myself lower than the end of wonderful March, down 5kg from my start on this journey! And there is still a week to go in May, Yeah!! Now to not reward myself with a food treat….

@dingping you have a really hard decision to make. I moved to FInland from Australia 14 years ago. At the time I was looking forward to living in Europe, being able to travel…But I have found myself lately wondering about moving back. Good luck with the decision making, you will do what is right for you!
@ah-tee everyone does their FD differently, but have you thought about having only 1 meal on FD. You could skip lunch altogether and use those calories to have a lovely dinner. I find this works well for me.

I hope everyone has a great day, and may the scales always be in your favour.

    Day 23 Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 NFD
    Day 22 NFD

Had no time to login yesterday as I had a trip to Bristol for a consultation with a vascular surgeon about getting my varicose veins removed. I’m booked in for treatment in June. This is my reward to myself for reaching my goal……well I hope the result will be a reward, I’m not looking forward to the actual procedure 🤕

@dingping access to good medical facilities and the best specialists are a consideration in moving to more remote parts of the country, something I didn’t think about prior to moving, hence the long journey yesterday.

Have a great day everyone and remember its just one day at a time 😊

    Day 23 – Iceland – FD

Yesterday’s planned FD turned into a CD so I am trying again today! Really need to pull myself together for the remaining 8 days of this challenge…
Just bought some magnesium oil and am excited to try it out this evening.

Have a great week everyone 🌼

    Day 23 London FD

Mindful eating continuing on NFD’s but no calorie counting so hoping I have my eye in now on portions and relevant calories per food consumed.

@mollij & @cornish-jane – re Bosh, watched the videos and bought the book, fully on board with their vegan vision, just have to make the transition with their help hopefully.

@diana123 – positive thoughts and best wishes your brother is well enough to attend the wedding.

Warning look away if not interested in my relocation angst but many thanks to those who read and comment its very helpful in helping me process it all.

@metatauta (love your sign on even though it’s a mental tongue twister to write for me!) and @shinything – owners are moving locally so not closer to medical facilities, just not wanting to live on a welsh hill side where the ground isn’t level and a house that doesn’t have quirky steps inside. But hear you re: as you approach retirement age, it’s something to be seriously considered. My mum’s obsessed by it but she’s 85!

@daffodil2010 – You are right they haven’t accepted our offers yet and maybe won’t. The agent (unusually) seems very candid and agrees with a lot of our rationale and seems to think the owners might be being unrealistic. We feel our offer is a good one compared with what else is on the market in their price range and given the work that needs to be done on the house and land. There are two viewings this w’end so I guess they and us will get some idea if we are way of beam or they are – all this fitful angst could be all for nothing! We continue looking just in case, don’t know how I will feel if we loose it, probably heartbroken.

@cornish-jane – thanks ‘you have only one life’ I must keep this in focus and my reasons for starting the house journey and the 5:2 journey. Easy to be driven by all the things that have held us back in the past, this is all about living before we get too old to enjoy living. A balance is required but not to let fear drive me unreasonably.

Good luck everyone and hats off to those B2B ‘ers.

    Day 23….Florida…..FD

Such a lovely date night…… so enjoy spending time with that man! Today, must be a solid FD, just to starve off any unwanted poundage.

@dingping…. About 11 years ago, the DH and I made the big jump to live out one of my husbands dreams…..to live in Florida! As our family members age, nieces and nephews have kids, and life moves on. We have missed some milestones but ones we have been able to attend have been extremely special to us because we were there. As for my MIL, she is 92 and spends a couple months with us a year. I fly to NY to bring here down, then I fly back with her when she’s ready to go home.
While we love our family, living out a dream like this has strengthened my husband and our relationship, brought our kids closer to us and given us a bond that I don’t think We would have gotten any other way.
Sometimes no matter how it happens, one must follow their dreams no matter where they take you. You and your family will and can make it work.
Maybe the compromise is you and the hubby, let a place for the first year. To see if your truly happy. If it doesn’t work out, your not strapped with a home you have to sell. However, if you love it, you can buy something that can be your forever home.

Well…..it’s time for another cup of coffee

I dream of living in a world where a chicken can cross the road and his motives are not questioned!

    Day 23 UK NFD

Yesterday’s CD was easier than the previous day’s FD, probably bc i was marginally less tired and didn’t have to go into town. Grazed on pine nuts and two apples – my new instant foods for busy NFD – and finished the day with a big baked sweet potato with a little strong cheddar cheese, quorn fillet with buttered spinach and ff greek yogurt with cacao, honey and banana. Seriously yummy – and No Bread!!!

Planning on staying home for the next week to catch up with project work, rest and home, plus preparation and planning for what looks like a very full few months. There is so much, and it will take a lot of work bc it feels rather chaotic just now, but somehow I’m calm in the midst in a way i couldn’t have imagined a few months ago.

So much is testimony to the good sleep, reduced pain and greater concentration that have been wrought by this WOL and the MO. I’ve given some MO to my DD and my friend, and looking forward to giving some to my mother when she comes to tea over the bank holiday weekend. I’ll be so happy it helps them anything like as much as it has me. @borealis hope it works well for you too

@dingping i’m loving the moving conversation, no apologies necessary. We learn a lot from each other and it’s not all about fasting 🙂
@missybear wow, that’s a healthy reward! Hope all goes well in the run up to the procedure
@flourbaby love the sound of your snackbox, helpful tips
@stoic well done on a good FD. An interview sounds like great motivation for feeling good. Big decisions ahead and great to be at your best.
    @kerryn73 well done – fantastic results 🙂
@catch87 caffeine has a lot to answer for, as I’m beginning to find out 🙁
@dykask I feel as tho progress is slow but I know you know your stuff, so thank you for the encouragement!
@daffodil2010 loving your planning ahead and learning from what’s not worked for you before. Thank you for sharing your experience – hopefully this will be something we all have to look forward to.
@ah-tee like @flourbaby i tend to save my calories for suppertime but have a box – i label it my fast food 😀 – which i can go to and grab if i really need something. That’s generally carrots & apples for crunch, a small piece of cheese or similar. It’s amazing how much iceberg lettuce you can eat when you’r hungry!
@ccco hope you are out and about enjoying the golf season
@bert1802 way to go with the low weight. Love reading about your date night, and the way your family has grown together in moving to follow dreams
@annemarilyn sounds as tho you are on a roll
@basyjames and @rainbowsmile good luck with your epic 5 day B2B
@diana123 hope you are having a wonderful time in this preparation and gathering. Continuing to think of your brother in his health and hopes.
@anna6 nuts also did for my Monday FD – we live and learn! Hope your son’s exams are going well, and glad to hear your pregnant daughter is enjoying your food 🙂

    Day 23 USA (Illinois) FD

Have yoga and Silver Sneakers this morning. Don’t usually exercise on a FD, but this is my best day to have one this week.

Joining the others for a good FD today.

    Day 23 – UK – FD

Day 22 was going to be a FD but ended up a Feast Day 👿 – well that’s what happens when friends drop by unexpectedly – nibbles and drinks followed by home delivery of very yummy sourdough pizzas 🍕 with several glasses of 🍷and I have to admit we did indulge in ice cream too….white chocolate and baileys 🍨

Well firmly pressing the RESET button today with a very low calorie liquid FD and was able to start the day with a great restorative and yoga Nidra class this morning 🙏

I have my usual volunteer session this afternoon, so checking on here before I get ready for that for motivation and inspiration 😇

@joalan – Welcome to this fab group – we are a real mixed bunch from all over the globe so always someone around to answer questions, offer support and advice. Great job on dispatching those 5lbs already – TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER is our motto!
    @emma1202 – 🤗

I often think about some of our old friends and wonder how they are doing – if any of you are lurking in the background drop in and say Hello 🤗 to you all.

I have read all the posts but not enough time to respond so hugs and positive vibes to you all and hope that we all have a strong end to this challenge month.

I’m reminding myself not to feel guilty as I remember the 80:20 rule – “It’s OK to give in to cravings every now and then. Losing weight and keeping it off means balance, not going without treats for the rest of your life”

Day 23 North Canton OH 3rd FD in a row

Yep those nuts will do you in and that is why I used to stay away from them on FD; lately though I have been indulging and while it makes it harder to stay under the 500 calorie mark it also keeps me from being hungry – so catch22.
Thanks for the words of wisdom @dykask as I have been working out really hard lately, I am pretty sure I am retaining water big time; my body fat scale also shows water percentage but since I stopped tracking my water percentage I have no idea if it’s up or down. However, I can tell my abs and arm strength are trending in the right direction.
@flourbaby staying under TDEE on NFD keeps you from regaining weight? Who knew?!!! You are going to be my inspiration this extended weekend because you are my sister in love of refined carbs and if you can stay under TDEE over the weekend I know I can!
@daffodil2010 I also have never had a problem losing weight, maintenance has always been my Achilles’ heel with increasingly permissive behavior leading me to regain the weight. Which is why I am trying to calibrate my efforts this time and change my eating pattern for good.
On this third B2B2B FD I am aiming for 650 calories. My fitness pal currently has me at 624 for the day, I may add another cup of coffee with creamer – or not; depending on how the day goes.
@diana123 I second @michelinme in saying that I hope you have a wonderful time with your guests and I pray your brother is able to attend and enjoy the day.

    Day23 OREGON USA

Thanks @basyjames, who know ha ha abt those nuts. I had a real good time doing a ketogenic diet but that’s just possible for me long time from a social standpoint, ha ha again. Nuts, esp macadamias were great for that. I’ve seen you and others also with this B2B2B routine, and you are adding cals to this from the otherwise stated FD cal limit of 500. You’ve just said 650, was it you that said 800 also? I’m thinking this just might work real well. So this means you alternate FD=650cal with TDEE days ?THANKS, I might just try this, just for fun. Some stretches of time might just work with this !

@at – No Worries ! You had a wonderful time with friends and no reason sharing wonderful food and drink can’t be a part of that. I think we can embrace such days as mental health days, spiritual renewal days, what else ? something GOOD for sure. NOW, the deal is just what your are doing. RESET ! Good luck with that and all : )

@michelinme — you said “@ah-tee like @flourbaby i tend to save my calories for suppertime but have a box – i label it my fast food 😀 – which i can go to and grab if i really need something. That’s generally carrots & apples for crunch, a small piece of cheese or similar. It’s amazing how much iceberg lettuce you can eat when you’r hungry!” I LOVE IT. Same here in that I have the same things I eat during the daytime, the same choices every day. Just put these on our shopping list as staples. I cut up veggies ahead of time – both cabbages/red onions/other to add an egg or 2 to on NFDs, another sealed bowl of cut up finger vegies to add some nuts to for snacks on NFDs and pre-dinner food on FDs. Great way to keep track of cals to just eat same things every day.

BTW do any of you know an efficent way to manage forum responses here ? The ketogenic forum allowed one to highlight sections of posts and click them into a response – that put them in there like I did above and also added the author of that snippet to the headline, like a “to’ field that went to the overal forum in this way. Anything like this here ! THANKS

Best to all of you, gotta run right now. FD tomorrow : 0

    Day 23 UK NFD

    Just a quick check in.

Still poorly and fed up. Boo! ☹

FD. Of on my FD due to my trip. But the good news, I didn’t gain any weight. SO PUMP!!!
Had a great trip back home. Saw family and attended my grandaughter graduation from High School.
Ate out a lot but tried to keep it one good meal a day.
Good to be back at our home in FL. Getting prepared for a tropical depress which means more rain and wind.
Could someone tell me what B2B2B stands for?

    Day 23, UK, NFD

Been too busy today, glad to be back home and relaxing now 🙂 . Not had time to eat so I’ve stayed under TDEE. Not complaining 🐢

@dingping oh no, hope the jewellers mend it nicely, I’m sure they will 🤗

@michelinme you started using MO just recently, and others that use MO …. did you all have flaky skin when you started using it? Do you still have it? I’m thinking of trying it but I think I would be bothered by it 🤔

@at thank you for sharing those wise words about balance and not going without treats for the rest of your life, that really helped 🙂

@sarahbob sending you a virtual hug 🤗 and healing vibes. Hope you feel better soon!

    Have a great day/evening everyone ❤

    Day 23 2nd post

@shinything I started MO at half strength ie 2 parts water to 1 part magnesium chloride bc sensitive skin. I had tingling on soles of feet to begin with but no other effect – xc all the good ones of sleep etc. The next day the soles of my feet would wrinkle more quickly in the bath, along with the hand I’d used to rub it in. Tingling stopped after a couple of weeks so I upped to a solution of 1:1 a few days ago. I’m just beginning to get flaking on the soles of my feet but in a good way – hard skin is shedding and my feet are becoming softer. it’s a bit like the gentle feeling when a tan peels. But that’s the only place it’s peeling

@kaywesterman well done on staying stable!

@sarahbob that sounds miserable – get well very soon x
