Day 17 OREGON USA. 2nd Post

    Accounting here :
So, got my mile fast swim in, that’s abt 400cals on my AppleWatch and a daily thing for me.
Got home, hungry so thought I’d have my usu breakfast but without the fat. So had this (a real nice low density bkfst with some protein)
2cups mixed organic cabbages – in pan with water instead of usu 1Tcoconut oil
NO guac or salsa like I usu put in here
YES some spices – tumeric, cardamom, curry, lemon pepper
Added 2 boiled shrimp we had left over (WRONG!)
Then added 1tsp olive oil (WRONG!)
Sauteed this up and put in bowl
Then added a bit less than usual 1T organic non fat Sour cream and 1T organic low fat greek yogurt.
    DELISH !
But then turns out I’m up to 336cals and it’s not even noon !

SO… chopped up some celery, baby carrots, bell peppers, radishes, snow peas, grape tomatoes and will eat <= 25cals of that if I get chewy or hungry in anyway.
Can also eat a kosher dill or two -) cals, did you know that ?
Otherwise Pierrier, tea and maybe some applecider vinegar in sparkling +/- kevita 4cals/8oz
Then dinner – my husb is cooking, I’ll just eat a little with him, and NO BEER !

THANKS for listening, ha ha it’s good to be accountable.
Any further ideas for low or non cal “eating”, pls lemme know about ’em.

    DAY 17 OREGON

@annemarilyn — How cool that would be ! On Friday’s it’s Route 30 Bottles and Brews –317 E 2nd Street and Wednesday’s Clock Tower Ales 311 Union Street, just a couple blocks down 2nd street bw 2nd and 3rd. All this is in The Dalles – do come ! We’re pretty much doing this every week because we play, as do a lot of other local musicians. We also highly encourage and support anybody who’s a little “nervous” abt getting up there, then before you know it, they are bringing in a song every time. Very friendly bunches in both places and great times ! Find us if you do this – Ati and Rossco w guitars : )
Where are you in Washington ?

    Day 17, 2nd post.

Thanks for adding me to the pocket list, but I succumbed and had a pack of peanuts and lunch!! My FD is now blown but I will aim instead to change it to a CD. Good luck other fasters today! Revised list below.

    Day 18…NSW Australia…NFD
    7.15am Friday

Hi everyone, just checking in. Enjoy whatever you are getting up to and bye for now!

    USA Day 17 NFD

Just checking in! I had a good NFD today. Hope everyone had a wonderful day!

    Day 18 – Japan – FD 81.9kg

I’m pretty much starting this fast day at a weight I used to get down too after a fast day.

Hi! Newbie here! I know the month is halfway over, But I wanted to start on this challenge. I’m very excited! Tomorrow will be my very first fasting day! Well, not of all time, but I haven’t fasted in over a year. Wish me luck!

    Day 18, Emden Germany, FD

yesterday’s FD went well ~ 250 cal. Today we’re going to get groceries in the Netherlands and I need a jeans that fits, still wearing baggy ones. I’ll go for another FD to prevent me from eating buying to much unhealthy Dutch food.

    @weymouthgirl and @redcoyoteblue welcome!

@diana123 did you find a dress?

    @daffodil2010 you almost made it!

    Pocket list Day 18

    @snowflake56
    @dykask
    @redcoyoteblue

    Have a good day everyone!

    Day 18, Finland, NFD

Good morning! FD not successful…kids made chocolate cake and I was weak! But other than that it went well. I stood on the scales this morning, my nature, couldn’t resist….at the weight before my successful March, so hoping to repeat that success from here on in.

I have read all your posts, but won’t be answering them all today. Welcome to our newbies.

Have a great day everyone, the heat has broken here so much relief! May the scales always be in your favour!

    Day 18 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

Guys, guys, guys!!! What is going on? I have not done much different this week, more or less followed the usual plan of food, same exercise, same water consumption…..but yet another pound loss this morning 😄 That’s, OMG, 5lbs since Monday morning!! I can’t do that most months!! The last time that happened was December so perhaps it’s a biannual occurrence 🤔

@flourbaby I wish it was TOM, payback for 40 years 😡, but I don’t think so.
@annemarilyn I haven’t even done LFD this week, I just don’t know why the weight is dropping!

If I didn’t feel so bloody marvellous and healthy I would be wondering about such a loss so quickly, but maybe it’s just weeks of, ahem, “food in transit” finally dislodging….no problems with the movements this week (😱 TMI sorry)

Thanks all for your encouragement @shinything, @metatauta @ah-tee @snowflake56 and everyone else. Without you guys this journey would not have been as interesting and fun.

    Just 1.7lbs to goal 🏁🏆🏍

Going out to dinner with DH tonight, due to work patterns we haven’t seen each other awake since Monday, I have to work until lunchtime tomorrow, then we are going to a surprise 50th party for one of DH’s work colleagues on Saturday night…..so I don’t suppose I will be good this weekend ☺️ I have so much clothes shopping to do, not many clothes in my wardrobe that fits anymore..all too baggy 😀 Yay!!

Have a super Friday. Together we are stronger 👍

    Day 18, Cornwall UK, NFD

Well -can’t say I’m that surprised but my weight today is exactly the same as last friday. At 78kg. Aghhhh! Now I’ve got to follow the advice I dish out to everyone else and stay mentally strong. I blame it on the rhubarb crumble – made too much and ate the leftovers! This is a warning not to overdo the sugar -ie elderflower champagne – this summer.

@metatauta – interesting question about using non-sugar sweeteners for brewing. I had a quick look online and i may try brewing one small batch differently. Eg use less normal sugar for the initial fermentation – enough to get enough alcohol (not normally more than 4%) and use sweeteners after the fermentations so its not too dry. It may be tricky to know when to add the sweetener as the second fermentation is done in swing-top bottles and they are very fizzy on release! Will investigate more.

@michelinme – I’ll find our recipe for the elderflower champagne. In short, collect 30 flowerheads, place in bucket of water, add champagne yeast, sugar, lemonjuice and fresh ginger, brew for approx 2 weeks, filter, pour into swing-top bottles, add teaspoon sugar to each bottle, leave another 1-2 weeks, drink chilled! You need a bit of equipment but we have some left over from trying to make cider from our old cider apple tree – it was horrible! Luckily we found elderflowers instead.

    Day 18 UK NFD

I finally got round to watching the Magic Pill and Sugar V Fat last night and wow what an eye opener. Thank you for the recommendations (I’m sorry I can’t remember who first mentioned it on here).

It has also made me really interested in the Keto diet and I have started reading up on it again. I know that I really need to cut down on my carbs and sugar as these are my downfalls and I have no self control. Now I can blame big corporations instead of myself for my addiction, tehehehe!

I am going to try and cut down on my carbs slowly and make it a more natural progression and stop being such an ‘all or nothing’ kind of gal with my diet.

For now I am going to stick to my 2 fast days a week and on NFDs keep to 16:8 and try to eat as mindfully as possible. In the past I found 16:8 a fantastic way to eat but had to stop as the baby wasn’t sleeping well and quite frankly I was so hungry and grumpy with such long days and so little sleep. But hopefully it will work for me now. 🤞

Sorry for the essay, I just feel good having finally found abit of pep again. 😁

Sending positive vibes to you all.

    Day 18 London FD

Successful CD yesterday apart from main meal eaten late, sure I’m still digesting it!

@catch87 – best wishes to your mum.

@bert1802 – my imagination did wander, they sound heavenly but deadly, nuts, caramel and chocolate! Good luck with the new work challenges.

    @metatauta – ‘I’m more grounded when I follow myself around’ – yes that’s it!

@ah-te – its fascinating reading others but would hate mine to be shared, thankfully I’m not famous and it’s safely protected by a password! Hope you and @annemarilyn get a jamming session together!

    Hi @weymouthgirl and @redcoyoteblue

    @penz – there’s always tomorrow.

    @daffodil2010 – WOW

@cornish-jane – sipping your own champagne on a Cornish summer evening, you’re making me jealous!

@sarahbob – a bit of pep is enough, well done.

@missybear – many thanks for your lengthy reply, you’ve expressed all my worries and excitement. Our move is mostly being driven by me and my dream to escape after having lived in big cities all my adult life but with childhood memories of the wilds of Dartmoor. So I always thought we would end up there but for various reasons this wont work. We have looked all along the Welsh/English border, liking the Brecon Beacons and the Shropshire Hills the most, then out of the blue up pops this property in N Wales and it’s caught my OH’s imagination (ambitions to write and thinks it’s the perfect retreat) and now it’s him driving the move!
My hesitation is all about the reality of living on an often cold, wet and windy Welsh hillside, how far we will be from family and friends (minimum 4 hours). DD is talking of wanting children soon so feeling torn about moving so far away. My mum although in good health is 85 and looks to me and not more local siblings for support, even though we have always been two hours away (only daughter).
Concerns about how we will fit in – lot of Welsh speakers and not a language I imagine being easy to learn but would try, looked up and there are clubs, societies and charities we could get involved in.
Local town seasonal with holiday makers and second home owners so worry how dead and shut down it will become in the winter months.
Big amenities such as major shops, main hospital etc will be 1-1 1/2 hours away.

On the other hand I want an adventure before it becomes too late (we are mid and late 50’s) this feels like if we don’t do it now we never will (mid life crisis in full flow). The house offers adventure as it comes with a small amount of land (mini shepherdess perhaps?!) and has hills for walking in and sea for playing in/on and a chance to stamp our mark on a place (mostly my mark as OH not practical in anyway). Our kids, once they get there, will love it for all the outdoor leisure the area offers and the house has views so will be lovely to be in even in winter. It offers the dream… most think we are crazy! Are we??!!!

Have to keep our hearts in check as so far our offers have been declined and its how much we want it and are prepared to pay for it (already top end of our budget and needs work) so maybe the decision will be made for us! I’ll keep you posted.

    Ta x

    Day 18, London, UK, NFD

Quick check-in today before pilates, hoping to be super controlled today, chocolate has been calling my name for the past couple of FDs……………….. this forum and KNOWING it’s a FD has kept the dragon quiet, I need to keep busy today!!!

I think there’s a trip to Cornwall to plan very soon …………..……….. just to collect some elderflower champagne!!!!!

It’s a bit late I know, but @basyjames ………… step AWAY from the pancakes …………………. Better late than never I hope!!!!

Way to go @daffodil2010, goal is within touching distance!!! Just putting this out there, because YOU said it ……………..you’ve lost 5lbs since Monday & ………………………. you haven’t seen OH awake since Monday?? …………….. Any Link there??? Just sayin’!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@sarahbob ……….. I agree, if you waft a cheesecake in front of me it’s NOT my fault when I devour it!!! It’s that 50:50 fat : sugar (I too have a rat brain) trap big corporations use to ‘sleepwalk us into obesity’!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not as quick as I had hoped ………………… must dash, Pilates awaits. Onward & Downwards folks!!!!!

    WE HAVE GOT THIS!!!!!!!!!!

    Day 18 Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 NFD

Felt hungry by the end of yesterday’s FD but managed to stay on track, slept well and woke feeling good, just enjoyed breakfast of blueberries, nuts and Greek yogurt 😋

@dingping I don’t think you’re crazy!! Hope your offer is accepted…….exciting times ahead.

@daffodil2010 WOW at this rate you will be at your ultimate goal with wriggle room by the end of the month 👍

Friday already, May is whizzing by, looking forward to a little 🍷tonight. Keep on keeping on everyone 😉

    Day 18, UK, NFD

Successful FD yesterday, 520 cal, helped reaffirm my weight of 53.5kg. Very happy with that as I do believe that when you reach some new target its important to stay there for a while and get used to it, take it as a new normal. I think its something along the lines of that Jamie Foxx quote 🙂

@weymouthgirl and @redcoyoteblue welcome to our friendly forum 😀

@snowflake56 what a nice feeling having to go shopping to replace buggy jeans 😀
@daffodil2010 too, replacing buggy clothes is all our goal and you are there,
    you go girls! 💃

@kerryn73 I know how disheartening it is to see ourself step back, but remember,
thats all what it is, a step! Lets go forward now 🙂

@sarahbob don’t be sorry, I enjoyed reading your thoughts, its what help us and what makes us bond here 🤗

@bert1802 I hope you enjoy your new role in your job, good luck 😀

@dingping and @missybear interesting conversation about moving/relocating, I’m toying with that idea too :). Have no idea where would I want to relocate yet though, so I’m picking up different ideas.

@Michelineme I hope you are feeling better 🤗

Have a lovely day everyone 🙂

    Day 18…..Florida…..FD

I must say first, I’m very happy today I’d Friday and I’m looking forward to 2 solid days off. I never expected in a million years, how tiring it would be to change job positions. A good tired.

Today, I’m planning on a solid FD, although, many of my FD have been scrubbed this week, I have managed to lose a good 1/2 lb. so, all in all…..Success!

Welcome to our newbies @weymouthgirl and @redcoyoteblue, you’ve joined the right group if your looking for tons of support and love!

    @at…….I’m still holding tight!

Thank you to all those who gave me congrats!

I did want to put my 2cents in about hair loss…..In the beginning, I did experience some minor loss, but as time went on and my body adjusted to this new WOL, it did stop, however, now my hair grows like it’s a weed. Before I used to go ever 6 months for a trim, then once a month then about a year ago, I stopped! Just to see how long it would grow.
In one year, it went from chin length to butt length.
Now, here another odd thing…..before this WOL, I also had cracked and fragile finger nails….. they are now long and strong.
Is it this new WOE or is it something else, I’m really unsure but whatever the case maybe…… it was a good side effect!

    Okay well…… let’s go adulting!

I dream of living in a world where a chicken can cross the road and his motives are not questioned!

    Day 18 UK CD

My Naked Weigh Day …. drumroll …. finally squeezed past the 11st/70kg milestones for the first time since 2006, now at 153.2lb / 69.5kg. I’ve also lost 0.5″ bust and my waist has gone up but only a mere 0.5″ – has my fat suit slipped? 😀 Weight and size go up and down regularly as we eat, drink, live so it may well go up again but the overall trend is definitely down 🙂

That’ll be the end of my “lowest since” posts bc I was largely very underweight from 2002-2006 bc health conditions, but now I can track down healthily for the first time since illness, stopping smoking, hormones etc 😀

Glad I put in the 3rd FD to keep momentum, but don’t think I would have done a B2B so smoothly without consistent pattern of 5:2 under my belt bc this week has been largely unplanned. But it’s been good enough, mostly bc my underlying habits have been changing. There’s no crap in the cupboards or the fridge, I know i feel less well when i eat sugar or carbs so they don’t appeal to me.

The stuff that appeals is the crispy crunchy salad, the spicy refreshing soup, breath-taking thirst-quenching ice-cold sparkling water. My sugar / carb craving is far less dominant, and usually satisfied by a cold crisp slightly sharp apple. Even my lovely oat/yogurt/seedy bread is better in smaller quanitities. I’m starting to notice Enough, and applying it to all sorts of areas in my daily life, which feels like a quiet revolution 🙂

This weekend is full of projects & commitments so I’ve taken today as my hermit day, one day a week when I stay away from the world and look after myself. I’m trying to grow my practice of consistent small good things, like building arm strength by spending 5-10 mins a day clipping the hedge. It’s all progress and the results will show & grow, bringing me satisfaction on the way. Need to get going with my gentle yoga, meditation, baking, gardening, writing, preparing, eating, planning next week… and only 9 hours til bedtime!

@weymouthgirl and @redcoyoteblue a warm welcome to the May Challenge – it’s never to late to begin! If you haven’t already, have a read of the OP in the May Challenge thread, add yourselves to the spreadsheet and ask away if you need help or have any questions https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/may-2018-monthly-challenge-2/

Wishing you all a Happy Friday x

Day 18 North Canton OH FD

@michelinme I bow to your eloquent and skillful descriptive abilities. It’s almost Jeff Probstesque!

@bert1802 I also experienced the same phenomenon with my hair, no hair loss to begin with but my hair is currently the longest it’s ever been. Even more striking has been the difference in my skin tone, clarity and complexion. These days I am more often than not described as glowing! I took a before and after picture last year (wish I could share it) and everyone marvels at the differences not just in my weight but my skin. I also look a full decade and a half younger than my actual years. I have teenage daughters and I am usually mistaken for their older sister and not their mom. This greatly annoys my husband, who hates feeling like a cradle-snatcher!

Update on the pancake craving, I went for a long speed-walk and that took care of that Yay!!! Thank you for the support @flourbaby; it would not have been worth it – I know. in other unrelated news – I have lost the three pounds I gained over the weekend – again. We travelled to my in-law’s last Saturday to celebrate my nephew’s graduation and there was alcohol and comfort food aplenty. So I am back to baseline (eye roll)

@metatauta and @dingping I am with you on journaling and keeping a food diary, it seems to me that the farther away I get from doing that; the worse my eating habits become. Exercise for me is a way of life now, I can’t do without it, but my food habits are still a work in progress.

@daffodil2010 I think you have encountered the W word – whoosh!Congratulations!!!! It’s a testament to your hard work and consistency.

Tomorrow, we are celebrating Mother’s day since we technically could not do so last weekend. I plan to indulge but not over-indulge. Stay strong ladies and gent, and I will see you all Monday – God willing.

As always my best to you all.

    Day 18 Stevensville Maryland CNFD

@snowflake56 going shopping tomorrow. Took measurements today, down 2 more inches on the waist and 1 inch on both bust and hips. Feeling really happy about that. Scale stayed the same!!

Getting really excited for the wedding next weekend. My son and his family are flying in from Washington State. We have a total of 25 out of town guest flying in. DH and I are hosting the out of town guest on Saturday. Going for a real Eastern Shore Crab Feast. So excited.

The best preparation you can do for tomorrow is be your best today. Have a great Friday everyone.

    Day 19, NFD, USA

Well yesterday’s morph from FD to CD ended up being a bit of a AB (that’s an alcoholic binge). I ate mindfully and well under TDEE, but decided a nice glass of wine would go well with dinner. And that one glassed ended up being the whole battle. And to make matters worse, my OH completely abstained!!! He’s usually my partner in crime.

Still, it’s another day today. Have a good weekend all!

    Day 18 OREGON USA

Well, no real good on FD yesterday, cal wise. 671 by count, I’d round up to 700, what I thought before counting up on this cal ap. So, I guess one might call that a CD here, correct ?
It was actually the IPA at 185 that put me over. What I need to do with that, since it’s so both encouraging and celebratory for my husb and me ha ha, is really get out something else to drink with it, since we always split whatever we’re drinking anyhow. Something tasty like Kevita, not just water.
Have dropped 2# since start, though ! I weigh in at the gym right after my mile swim. Will do that again in an hour or so.

@redcoyoteblue – WELCOME ! I’m a newbie, too – just one week here. I was so LOOKING for something like this, not only a great forum but what a sweet thread this is !

    @snowflake56 – what a nice need for change in clothes : )

@kerryn73 – you and me both — NEXT TIME !

    @daffodil2010 – YAY !!!

@bert1802 – let’s keep talking about hair as we go. Interesting

@michelinme – Beautiful post this morning, actually read it first thing today ha ha before out of bed – people talk abt stuff like that ha ha, i”m careful ! But a beautiful post with such underlying encouragement to all for life itself ! LOVE !

@basyjames – very interesting regarding your greatly improved hair and skin with this WOE, WOL ! Since I do believe this WOL is ultimately healthy for far more than drop in pounds, I’m not surprised. I need to research if anyone’s seen an effect on length of telomeres !! I’ll bet there is that : )

Surprised there is not way to put in photos here, most such sites do have that. Maybe there is and I haven’t seen it. I think you would know, though

Got run, best to all of you if I did not reply to something, pls just hit me up again. Enjoying this !

    Day 18 – NC, USA – NFD

Yesterday I managed my fist non-liquid FD. When I tried it before eating just a little bit opened the floodgates for me and I had a hard time controlling my intake. But yesterday it was easier because I went to this new fast food place in town called Chopt where they serve nothing but salads. I ended up with a lovely salad worth 490 cal for lunch and left it at that for the day. I didn’t drop as much this morning as when I do a LFD (1# vs. 2#) but I’m still glad I got a second FD in this week.

Welcome @weymouthgirl and @redcoyoteblue, joining this challenge group this month has been so helpful, I hope it works the same for you!

Congratulations @daffodil2010!!! Such fantastic results! You are right there! So exciting! @basyjames what is this whoosh word you talk about? (I normally understand most English words but this one I can’t seem to translate.)

Day 18 – SW WA USA – NFD

Yesterday’s FD kind of morphed, not sure what it was. Maybe 800 or even more. Oh, well onto a reasonable NFD today that is to include the 1st of 3 retirement celebrations this month. I’ll try to save most of my calories for then.

@missybear – as you’re also in Wales (and helping with the research) so @DingPong already has a friend should she head that way. 🙂 What a great forum!

@ah-tee – I’m in Battle Ground, WA so about an hour from the Dalles. I won’t make it tonight, but hopefully soon. What time frame is he music?

@daffodil2010 – I look forward to a week like you’ve had sometime soon hopefully. I am happy for you.

@diana123 – enjoy your dress shopping!

    Together we are stronger!

    Day 18 UK second post

The luxury of time to read and respond enfin 🙂

@cornish-jane At least your weight didn’t go up this week, that has to be a result in itself! Thank you for your guidance on elderflower champagne, I’m v glad of your inspiration! This is my usual go-to site for wild food, and uses vinegar, sugar, lemon elderflower and water to make champagne. Apart from bottles and a bucket, can you recommend anything else that might be useful if i try it? http://www.gallowaywildfoods.com/elderflower-champagne-recipe/ The elder in my garden have been flowering wonderfully this last day or so. I’m an early morning picker so hoping to harvest tomorrow and make some cordial when I’m home again. I’ve perhaps unwisely offered to make gf/diabetic friendly cake for a bishop thingy on Sunday and would be glad to add some to my usual lemon drizzle to make the inclusive cake extra special.
@basyjames way to go with selling the benefits of this WOL! Wonderful to hear that your skin is glowing and you have lost years 🙂
@sarahbob great post, nothing like an essay. Every time we share our thoughts and experience it adds to the rich mix of the whole – you never know when your idea might be exactly what someone else needs to hear 🙂
@dingping fingers crossed with the whole adventure of moving life & lifestyle – what a wonderful thing to do in middle age 🙂
@flourbaby good luck with the dragon taming! I’ve been using raw cacao to calm the dragon and it’s worked wonders for me. Mixed with yogurt with a dash of honey, in an instant rice pudding with leftover rice & plant milk or a treat mug cake – seems to soothe the inner beast
@shinything I’m feeling much better at last, thank you! Clearly i needed some consistent self-care and sleep x
@keryn73 I think i would struggle to resist child-made chocolate cake! Good luck with resisting temptation as you reset for a successful second half to this month. I read that willpower is a muscle and the more we use it… each time it takes less effort to achieve the same result
@dykask well done on the new starting weight!
@ccco well done with keeping on, hope you are enjoying the golf
@redcoyoteblue hope your first FD has gone well
@snowflake have a great shopping trip – you’ve earned it!
@daffodil2010 congratulations on the determination that’s led to this whoosh. I wonder if it’s actually because you didn’t have a LFD this week? You persevered during those lean times (!) with few results, and really earned these wonderful results 🙂
@diana123 great results, well done! Enjoy the shopping trip, and the family as they assemble. What precious times to have together 🙂
@basyjames @ah-tee I usually edit my posts to be less wordy but got distracted this morning so v glad of your generous responses, thank you 🙂
@ah-tee 700 is OK for a FD – the guidance says 500-800. Most people go low in order to speed up the loss but 700 is bang on the money too 🙂
@bert1802 woohoo – go you! Fantastic to be a week into your new role, rolling with the ups & downs of new and unexpected changes and a successful FD as well! Long may it continue 🙂
@emma1202 whoosh effect is explained here http://100down.org/the-whoosh-effect/

    Second post.
    Thank you @michelinme!

    Day 18 – Atlanta, GA – CD
    Day 17 – CD

Thank You @ccco, @stoic, @ah-tee and @rainbowsmile for your inputs.

Currently i can only think of two things for my hair loss after hearing all your thoughts, one is i have lost signifant amount of weight since January 2018 (25 pounds) and feeling really good & in love with this way of life and second is having sleepless nights with my 21 month old daughter. I will wait and see as i have read that body goes into a shock after huge weight loss even though its for good.

@rainbowsmile – I got my thyroid test done and it is normal and my b12 is way too much so my doctor asked me to stop taking b12 as it is significantly high. You said you use LQ three times a year as a liquid supplement, what does LQ mean? please excuse my ignorance if im asking a silly question. Thank You

    Day 18 – UK – FD

Lovely 6km hike with friends this morning – I baked a cake this afternoon for DD to pick up on her way to work tomorrow

After 2 controlled days I managed to stay on track with a total of 567cal today, also drank around 2.5L of water so a good end to the week overall 😇

No time to read or comment today but hope everyone had a great Friday and looking forward to the weekend – our good weather looks set to continue over the weekend 😎

@redcoyoteblue @weymouthgirl – a big welcome to the challenge – never too late to join and start this WOL – your first step towards a much better life

Time to go get ready for bed – “Each morning we are born again – What we do today is what matters most” – Buddha

    Day 19…NSW Australia…NFD
    7.48am Saturday
    Hi everyone.

Warm welcome to all the newbies! This is a very informative, encouraging and supportive forum – enjoy! I enjoy reading all the posts – thank you everyone.

Congrats to all those on a downward trend; also to all those maintaining; also to all those tooing and frowing – we have all made a decision for a better way of eating, and so for a healthier overall life!
We’ll all have ups and downs along the way, but each day is a step in the right direction – onward and downward!

Enjoy whatever you are getting up to and bye for now!

    Day 19 Auckland NZ NFD

Greetings! I have been MIA. I haven’t even had a chance to catch up with everyone’s posts. Apologies.

We have been super busy. I have had one of those bottle neck periods in life where I just kept going and hoped that everything would fall into place if I kept working… The FDs were interesting because under stress I would normally find time to eat but this time I had to focus on deprivation!

My OH was made an NZ Arts Icon (one of 20 living – so proud!) and opened an exhibition in Wellington. In the meantime we are preparing material for a publication and leaving in two weeks for an exhibition in Hong Kong. I was hoping to be in the 80kgs but the 82/3s will be more realistic… Next week we have the Auckland Art Fair and then on Monday I have to deliver works to Dunedin. We have moved twice and kept the house renovation on track. Hopefully we will be able to move in when we return from HK…

So I am sticking to this WOL but have had a few more three course dinners and fine wine than I would normally have! I’m 83.6kg this morning.

Cheers everyone and well done on the downward journey.

    Day 19 – Japan – NFD 77.9kg

34 water fasts done in 2018. This fast was close to 40 hours. It was easy but I’m glad it was over.

Merryapple I don’t think of fasting as deprivation. For me it is more about what I’m going to eat when I’m not fasting. Fasting enhances my eating because I can eat more food, better food and with more enjoyment. When I’m fasting it is mostly positive. (Oh course that is easier to say when your weight has been dropping. 😉 )

    Montana, USA. FIRST FAST DAY!!!
I made it! Whew! I stayed super busy, so that helped. 🙂
Hey, I have a question: do any of you find your sleep disturbed or not normal on FD?
    Thank you for such a warm welcome, @snowflake56, @kerryn73, @dingping, @ah-tee, @emma1202, @shinything, @bert1802, @michelinme, @at, and anyone else I forgot to mention! What a great group!
    Here’s to a great day!

Hi redcoyoteblue, I was born in Lewistown Montana. I don’t like going back there much as there is so much gaming now.

When I started the 36 hour fasts a couple years ago I often had problems sleeping the second night. While I did have hunger it was often more that I was just too alert. It took a few months but my body adjusted and now I often like sleeping on that second night. I also wake up feeling like I could fast another day, but normally I don’t because I love to eat too. For me I found water faster works better than just eating a small amount as eating triggers my appetite.

    I wish you luck!

Hi, @dykask! Ha! What a small world! We don’t do the gaming, but hiking and whatnot.
Thank you so much for the reply! It’s great to know that the sleeping will get better. And like you, it’s not hunger that’s bothering me. I have so much energy.

    Day 19 UK FD

Just a quick check in today as unfortunately I have a poorly baby. But I’m sure lots of Mummy hugs will help.

    Today’s pocket list:

    @sarahbob

    Day 19, London, UK, NFD,

@penz ……………. That AB did a real number on you for sure ……………… it was ‘Day 18’ when you emerged from the alcohol haze!!!!

@emma1202, this article really helps explain the ‘whoosh’ effect we look forward to, it was posted by @coda way, way back when and it gave me a lightbulb moment!!!

    http://100down.org/the-whoosh-effect/

    http://fatburningman.com/4-simple-strategies-to-burn-fat-after-a-binge/

the 2nd piece is something else you may find helpful, although I don’t recommend binging (not to say I don’t do it!!!) but, sometimes a carb-heavy meal kickstarts my engine!!! Particularly when combined with drowning my dragon in 3L water a day!! Be mindful of the whoosh articles’ recommendation of ‘incorporating a REASONABLE cheat meal’ once a week, as I’ve said many, many times before …….….. if ‘reasonable’ was in my vocabulary I’d be thin!!

@sarahbob …………. no better cure than mummy hugs!!!

Not a lot of posting this morning, I’m guessing there’s some wedding watching occurring!!! I’m torn because I should get out and make the most of this glorious sunshine, but I’m loving the hat watching!!!!

Must stay controlled this weekend…………. Focus, Focus, FOCUS!!!!

    Day 19 Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 NFD

@penz AB days are my weakness too!

@redcoyoteblue I think I may be in the minority because I always get my best, deepest nights sleep at the end of a fast day.

@sarahbob hope your baby gets better quickly.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone, I’m off to do some hat watching with @flourbaby

    Day 19….Florida….FD

I can’t tell you all how thankful, I am that it is my day off! My OS and his girl headed for Disney a couple hours ago, the DH just left for work and YS will be headed out the door in a few short hours which means I will be home alone to get some solid me time in…..
well actually I’ll be cleaning but I really enjoy a good solid clean day! Later, I plan on making a run out…. Our town opened a huge stand alone Dollar Tree about 6 months ago and I’m going to finally venture in there. Then I want to wander in Home Depot to pick out paint color…. As we are moving into our next home project….. re painting the formal living room and dining room, along with putting in new flooring!

I did get on the scales this morning…. they are finally moving in the right direction. I’m down 3lbs since I return from my vacation….. 3 more lbs and I’ll be back to where I was before my girls trip in April! Yeah! Me!

    @at……keep up the great work!

@basyjames….. I enjoy surprising people with my age as well….It’s always nice to look and feel younger than you actually are. I’ve been mistaken for my OS girlfriend, many times and I see the shock in their faces when I say no…..he’s my son!
Recently, I went to my besties grand sons 8th birthday party. And one of the mothers asked me if I had kids, I said yes….. then she asked why I didn’t bring them… well when I told her, their ages she asked me If I had them when I was 10….. (she was in her 30’s with three kids under 8). I just laughed!

@sarahob…….I don’t think I’ve ever watch that documentary, however, I’ve always believed that the diet industry was created to play on a person dream to lose weight but keep them just heavy enough to keep people buying their foods. Health, food and exercise companies making millions off of hopes, dreams and wishes!
I also believe that is why so many bag on 5:2 and other IF programs because they can’t make any money off of us who do it!

Okay……. well I’m off! I don’t have any particular place to go but to the kitchen for another cup of coffee!

I dream of living in a world where a chicken can cross the road and his motives are not questioned!

    Day 19 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

Just home from work and it’s sooooo busy and I am soooo tired. Think it’s time for the luxury of an afternoon nap…even though it’s a gorgeous sunny day …

I forgot about the royal wedding, I will catch up on the highlights later ☺️

I had loads of comments to make this morning on everyone’s posts but did not have time ….and now I am too tired. But know that I was thinking of you all 🤗

    Have a good Saturday

    Day 19 OREGON USA

Will be sparse over the weekend but back on MON, pocket list and all.
Seeing both sides of this in myself and realizing I need to separate the SOCIAL from the EATING from myself. Again, the same things happen. Lucky me, no carb cravings or addictions, although maybe this is the same.

@michelinme Thanks for the encouragement on 700 ! I guess this like anything is different for all of us and different on different days for each of us as well. All good !

I’ve actually dropped a couple #s already, whee ! The empty belly feel is good as well, not always but often. Lean And Empty Belly, solid metabolic feel (no hypoglycemia) is the BEST for me : )

Anyway, so glad to have found you all – !
Best of weekend bliss to all of you !

    Day 19 Oregon USA

    Hello friends.❤️️

Just hopping on today to say hello and see that a new Oregonian has joined the ranks. Hooray.

Still lurking, and haven’t caught up on posts but all the coverage of the royal wedding today reminded me of all my UK friends here and just wanted to say that I hope you are all as delighted with the marriage as I am. England looks beautiful today and watching the highlights of the ceremony were so magical. Especially the carriage ride. I truly hope that it’s a fairy tale ending for Prince Harry and Meghan.

    And I hope all the Brits @flourbaby, @at, @stevetoontaxidriver, @bigviking,@michelinme, @emma_taylor, @strawberriesandcream, @shinything, @cornishjane, @coda, @dingping, and anyone else I’m forgetting enjoy a proper celebration.

(@daffodil2010 and @debster251 you see how I’m not lumping in Ireland/NI? I think my geography is improving)
Love and good choices to all.

    Day 19, Gozo, Malta, nfd

I spend the morning babysitting, taking my son to his exam and then watching the royal wedding in the afternoon. I ate a fish with lots of tomatoes and capers , lots of coffees with semi skimmed milk and some chocolate. I also had a coffee liqueur. This evening I’m eating half a pizza.

Have a great evening everyone. Keep on keeping on.

    Day 19 OREGON USA. 2nd POST !

Hey there fellow Oregonian, @mjrbcd44 !! Someone on here as well from SE or SW Washington. We just moved from Eugene to the Columbia Gorge and are loving the area here although still uber attached to our home town and townie friends down there.

Wishing you the best and enjoying this little spot in this virtual world of ours.

    Ah-tee

    Day 19 UK CD

Up & out early this morning for community meeting then service rehearsal. We had an hour’s break just in time to watch the bride arrive at church, and left just as the happy couple were coming out. Not the same watching it with the very male international gatheringI’ve been rehearsing with, but I’ll look at some more on iplayer later.

Quite strange to spend the day working with a BBC outside broadcast team while most of the country is watching a BBC outside broadcast! The crew hadn’t had access to TV in their short break so i was trying to describe it in a few sentences… I’m exhausted after 6 hrs hanging around interspersed with camera angles, sound equipment, lighting, timings, music rehearsals and runs through. Deeply deeply weary, and still got to bake a gf cake, supper, shower & hairwash & v early night ready for another v early morning!

On the bright side I’ve eaten pretty well and avoided the many cakes and crisps in favour of my packed lunch. And last night I actually stopped myself diving into the fresh-baked oat/seedy loaf but made myself fill up on salad first!!! I could feel myself being tempted and persuading myself that there were better choices, and it felt G O O D 😀

I think tonight might be more crispy salad, or possibly a baked sweet potato – if i can ever get this cake started. Right, wedding stuff on iplayer and get going! Hope you all are having good weekends, whether resting, catching up or hanging out. Onwards and downwards, one helpful decision at a time 🙂

    Hi, @missybear!
Before when I fasted, I had such a hard tome staying sleep. But I had a boiled egg a couple hours before bed and slept wonderfully! Yay!

    Day 20…NSW Australia…NFD
