Day 16 Belfast NFD
Swim done, the sun is shining, the birds are singing …. Life’s good.
@catch87 – wishing your mum a speedy recovery.
@ Michelinme And @anna6 -hope you are feeling better
@missybear – new furniture? Do you have an exciting project underway?
@diana123 while it’s a great confidence boost that your dress is now too big, I’m sure it’s an added pressure to go and look for a new one.
@at – Pilates and yoga in the one day? ✊ respect to you!
@emma1202 a big congratulations to your son. A proud mummy for sure!
@ah-tee it’s surprising over time how our OHs accept what we do. I’ve been doing this WOL for two years now and my OH doesn’t even ask now. He just accepts that I fast on a Mon and Thurs. On a Thurs, I dont eat all day and make a meal for us both, that I can eat a small portion of.
Great post @bert1802
Congrats @dykask.
@Michelem 1 – I’m curious as to how you ensure you get a balanced diet and enough fibre if you stick to protein and fat. Are you permanently in ketosis.
@abop you need to do at least a couple of classes to get used to the saddle…but it’s worth it!
@michelinme – I can recommend Decaf tea and coffee. I was advised to quit caffeine several years ago because it inflames my stomach and now even my OH takes decaf tea.
@kerryn73 when the 5:2 first came out, a FD was measured at 500cal. However, the diet was revamped a while later and an 800 cal threshold was introduced. Obviously the fewer calories you eat, the greater the effect.
@shinything – well done on your loss
@dingping – I’m with you on that ‘thin on the inside’ feeling. What a great way to put it! Your comment about watching what your put in your mouth is so true. My mindset is just the same. My journey has been a long, slow one, but I’m nearly there, so take heart. It IS doable.
Off to the woods with puppy now for a romp in the bluebells
Have a good day everyone.
Day 16…..Florida……. FD
Matilda got out yesterday and found a small bag of pecan turtle to get into! So, I made a deal with her, I’ll leave her out of her cage, if she promises to be a good lil dragon. Plus, honestly, her arse has gotten to be for the cage anyways.
I spent majority of the day making samples in the warehouse, body I’d a bit stiff this morning as it requires me to stand majority of the day and cutting tiles with a hand cutter is a long tedious job.
Bright side, I’m getting things in order…….
@penz…… why, yes, I am applying Ms. Flylady…..15min. a day! I so wish, I could show you all the difference it is making! I really love her program!
Today, is my normal FD and all the pecan turtles are gone, so, hopefully it will be a successful day! I will also be in the warehouse again and I’m also heading up to a building site to inventory our products…..This will be my first outing in my new job!
Wish me luck!
I dream of living in a world where a chicken can cross the road and his motives are not questioned!
Day 16, Newcastle UK.
Dear friends, nothing alarming or worrying but yesterday was a very strange day and did not go to plan. I’ve decided best thing I can do now is to say au revoir until we return from holiday mid June. Just need some time out to stop thinking about food altogether and get myself in a better place.
Thank you @michelinme for your hosting of this month’s challenge and all the best to you all. See you next month.
Day 16 2nd post
@strawberriesandcream take care of yourself and wishing you a fabulous holiday 🛳😎 see you in June xx
@debster251 the exciting project started over 2 years ago when we moved from Worcestershire to Pembrokeshire, the new furniture is for a room we haven’t used and which became a junk room, now it’s a study come music room 😊
@bert1802 hope you and Matilda enjoy your new role.
Feel like I’m relaxing a little too much this month since I’ve declared myself in maintenance and certainly drinking too much wine and not enough water. I need to nip this in the bud so I shall make tomorrow a 500 calorie FD rather than my usual 800 and no wine shall pass my lips before 6pm Friday.
Day 16, NFD, USA
A good FD yesterday; I feel back in control, and the lovely friendly scales show I am back to pre-holiday weight. I choose to believe them.
Another shocking night’s sleep – took 2.5 hours to fall asleep then I woke up far too early. Grrrr. This little grasshopper aint the patient sort, @flourbaby!! But I’ll persist as I know the rewards will be worth it.
Hope all is well with you @Strawberriesandcream and we see you back in June, well rested from your holiday and ready to (re)embrace this WOL.
Day 16, Finland, NFD
Well whatever my last 2and a half days were in relation to FD/CD, I am feeling so much better than Sunday evening. Now not to ruin that great feeling my over indulging, ‘rewarding’ my good work. Exercise and salads are the order of the day!
It is so hot here at the moment…ridiculous I know…it’s Finland for gods sake! But that means i need to try and drink water, which fills the space food would normally go in 😉
@daffodil2010 congratulations on seeing a new number! 125 is very close now…you’ve got it!
@dingping 2 steps forward 1 step back is still always 1 step forward! You are going the right direction! Keep up the slow move forward!
@Strawberriesandcream good luck for the next month or so, you will be missed, but we will be here when you get back. Have a great holiday!
Enjoy the sunshine everyone, you never know when it will end ;-), and may the scales always be in your favour.
Day 16 North Canton OH NFD
against my better judgment I had a couple homemade sweet treats someone brought in, and immediately felt quite lightheaded thanks to the sugar rush. Note to self do not break your fast with a sweet treat.
Regardless of the slip up I plan to stay firmly under TDEE today.
I don’t have time to respond to every post, but I want to congratulate those who are trending in the right direction and encourage those who are struggling. One step, one day, one choice and one fast at a time will get us all to where we want to be; the trick is to keep on keeping on.
My best to you all.
Day 16 – NC, USA – FD
I was on the fence this morning about this being a FD or sticking to 2 FDs this week, but after seeing the scale at 133 this morning, I decided to make this a FD (albeit not a LFD). Planning on keeping myself busy today so that always helps.
@dingping, welcome back!
Thank you @debster251 for the sweet words.
@Strawberriesandcream, take good care of yourself and have a fabulous holiday!
@borealis, awesome job getting in those FDs!
@at, your devil emoticons made me laugh on the spreadsheet. That’s very much how I feel from time to time. Hang in there! Sending lots of positive vibes your way!!!

I’m having severe hair loss since a month, i never had this before. Can anyone advise on why im experiencing this? I have lost weight significantly since January with Intermittent Fasting and i’m feeling great but hair loss is really bothering me. Did any one had similar issue? Thank You
Day 16 – USA – FD
@daffodil2010, yay for you! @dingping, you are making progress, better forward than consistently backward! @Strawberriesandcream, have fun, my friend, on your holiday and will see you back in June! @Michelineme, love “Plateaus R Us”, lol! @missybear, great discipline! @penz, great that you are back in control.
Pocket List for Day 16:
Day 16, UK, NFD
Its been a good day food wise, it almost turned into a FD, but I thought no! , I want to stay loyal to my Club Tortoise 😎 🐢
I’m watching birds in my garden, on my bird feeder and I’m loving it. There is a bunch of starlings and they are having a pool party (read: bathing together), water being splashed everywhere 😂
@dingping welcome back 😀 . I admire you for keeping up with fasting at all, I know how difficult it is if the life gets chaotic. You are doing well 😀
You will be missed @Strawberriesandcream 🤗 , we will wait for your return. Till than, have a great holiday and enjoy whatever you are doing. See you in June 🙂
@at your devil emoticons made me laugh as well, so funny 😂
@mishty I haven’t come across hair loss problem and fasting, maybe they are not related? I hope its sorted out soon! 🤗
@Michelineme you made me laugh with “Plateaus R Us” 😂
Stay strong everyone, and stay the course!
Have a lovely evening/day everyone ❤
Day 16 Stevensville Maryland USA CNFD
Yesterday was a CNFD and I wasn’t even that hungry, came way below my TDEE’s. Today so far the same as yesterday I think I feel a whoosh coming my way soon. Tomorrow is another CFD, might just cheat a little on Saturday.
I will be out shopping and having lunch out in town.
The best preparation you can for tomorrow is to be your best today. Have a great Wednesday everyone.
USA Day 16 FD
Second Post
Fast is going well and I am well under 500 calories. I think I will fast again tomorrow and make it a B2B!
Mishty: Outside of stress and chemo, I have only heard of hair loss through thyroid disease or the loss of too much weight. Otherwise I don’t know. My hairdresser lost gobs of hair from stress during her divorce. She’s okay now. Good luck!
Day 16 – SW WA USA – NFD
Successful FD yesterday and glad for a NFD today. Keeping it to a 16:8.
@mishty – I also haven’t heard of hair loss accompanying Fasting. Others have suggested some things that can cause it. Hope you get to the bottom of it.
@Strawberriesandcream – enjoy your break!
Together we are stronger!
Day 16 OREGON USA
Hi, all crazy busy today but so HAPPY to be part of this and will say more later : )
Tomorrow is FD #2 for me and I’ll joing tomorrow’s Pocket List.
Daytimes at home are great, easy to stay under TDEE.
Out for dinner w friends last night and went about 100 cals over TDEE. Can live with that, but easy to go over more than that while eating out. We go out quite a bit which puts a real hole in our Organic routine but need/want to do that right now, since new to town and for other social and bz reasons not to mention great shared FUN !! We’re also a musical duo (jazz gtr and voc) and playing out a couple times a week (giglets only right now!) and that’s at foodie places. SO …..
Tonight, I’ll drink a lot of water ahead of time (can eat ahead when I’m not singing, not tonight!) and then down the first glass of water that they bring us here ….. I’ll order up some kind of seltzer to drink with our shared IPA (beer) or wine … then I’ll try to eat slowly and mindfully but really, there’s something about eating out with others, isn’t there ? ANY OTHER IDEAS ?
Couple replies then gotta go, more later !
@flourbaby – might you say more about Magnesium — i think you were talking abt liquid mag. I agree a lot of people are short on Magnesium but you seem to know more about this. THANKS !
Also, what is an OMAD FD ??? thnks !
@dykask – ah yes, plateaus ! I think we all go through this. Maybe good to just do something radically different for a week when a plateau just wont lift. Maybe something physicial like swimming if you don’t usually swim, or taking a short class in something. I do think Something.Different can be real good for a lot of things, if only to take our minds of what’s bugging us. Just a thought – best of luck with this !
@ Daffodil2010 – we are on the same boat here – mine put its hand up at 129 and I”m heading down towards this (fm 134, today it’s 132.2!) doing 5/2 ! Congratulations ! Let’s keep an eye on each other !
See, @dykask, you know this too, plateaus do let up after a while : )
Talk Soon !

Day 16, Guildford UK, FD 3 of 5.
@annemarilyn these are 500 Cals fast days when I am up to it I do water fasts. Not at this time though. This is a corrective fast as I had a big birthday weekend plus plus. If I stray to a MFD 800 Cal then I do and I can add a day to make up for it. I also allow myself a break if I need it. It gets easier after day 3 to fast. Day 2 is always worst then day 3.
I can CFD for a whole month (I did so this year).
Mari
I lose hair a lot when dieting, it seems to adjust my hair cycle, sending it to general diffuse hair loss. Never worked out if it’s stress or not or just dieting.
This WOL has made it easier to get to experiment with my diet, I also supplement with iron and b12. I use LQ three times a year as a liquid supplement. My hair is better and more glossy and thicker than ever. It came back better and stronger.
Mari
Day 17 – Japan – NFD 81.8kg
Currently I’m not in a plateau mode. In fact after a workout my weight had dropped to 78.8kg. Mostly water, although I did shake loose some of the stuff from my gut.
Today I haven’t eaten any vegetables yet, but I’ve had a lot of fruit. I eat my breakfast late and didn’t have a lunch. It is mid-afternoon so I guess I’ll go for a larger supper today. Tomorrow is a fast day.
Day 17, Cornwall UK, FD
Feeling better now I’ve recovered from a hard yoga session earlier in the week. I think i made it harder by mowing the lawn the day before and bringing on a big hayfever attack. I was hoping fasting would help control my hayfever (which is an auto-immune problem) but I probably need to do the 3-5 day Dr Longo fasts to get that kind of benefit. And I am only a one-day-at-a-time faster at the moment!
@michelinme – My waist has also gone up this week – probably too much rhubarb crumble at the weekend – so i am hoping for a whoosh today to get things back under control before the friday weigh-in!
Day 17 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – FD
Well now. I am following my normal weekly 2FD’s B2B followed by Wednesday Cd, and today is final FD (I am doing 4:3 until goal), I have not changed anything much, eat more or less the same,…….yet the pounds are dropping rapidly this week 🤔 Lost another overnight after a decent CD around 1000 calories. That’s 4lbs this week and today is an FD!!
Plateaus and post-plateaus are strange things, but I will take it. Only 2 and a bit pounds to go to goal.
@ah-tee we can do it ☺️
@cornish-jane I don’t seem to be suffering from hay fever this year. Never had it before until last year, my first season in the glasshouse. This year is fine. I take a smudge of salt every morning with water before I head off to work, it seems to be working.
Mega busy in work these days, that Lidl trial is successful so ramping up production fir the summer. Thousands of little growing pots of Summer Salad Mix being sown and grown …it’s such fun and don’t have time to be hungry!!
Have a great day all.

Day 17, London, UK, FD
Yesterday turned into a very CD, a few (!!) cashew nuts, a clementine and a couple of gherkins after boxing took me to about 900cals, so today will be a FD and we’ll call this a 5:2 week.
@strawberriesandcream, I expect you’ll have a fantastic cruise & I hope the rib injury doesn’t prevent lots of dancing this time around, unlike the ankle!!!! Looking forward to your update in June!!!
@ah-tee I’m a walking talking advert for Magnesium oil, I make my own as below, just adding MSM for skin tightening. It is referred to as the ‘miracle oil’ and I think it’s correct as there are so many benefits to using it, I’ve heard that it has such a calming effect that they’re trialling it on children with severe ADHD. Personally, I use it to aid sleep and as a deodorant, my brother for toenail fungus and my mother for leg cramps and water retention in her legs. I hope that helps, there’s lots of info out there too.
https://wellnessmama.com/5804/make-your-own-magnesium-oil/
@daffodil2010, do you think it could be the TOM?? I’ve dropped 4lbs this week too, 2lbs just last night, I think I’ll go through my diary to check ………………………. After 30 yrs of this it would be good to find a positive!!!!!!
I’ve only suffered from hayfever for the last 3-4 years, unfortunately it’s the ‘hive’ kind where I suffer terrible facial swelling, particularly around the eyes & NO other symptoms ……………………. give me a runny nose, sneezing & watery eyes ANY day of the week rather than walking around with a face reminiscent of the elephant man!!!!!!!
Anyway, I ought to do some work, since I’m actually at work!!!! Happy fasting everyone!!!!!!!!!!
Day 17, Finland, FD
Good morning everyone. Still sunshine galore here in Finland, shame today is an inside chore day 🙁
Hoping to get in a good FD today before some good eating possibilities tomorrow and Saturday.
@shinything I am sure I can speak for all Club Tor-Twah members when I say don’t give up the chance of a good FD out of loyalty! Grab that extra FD and rock it!

Day 17 UK NFD
I’m not having my planned fast today as We’re having a bbq later to celebrate my OH getting a promotion at work. 😁
As of yet I am undecided if I will have my second fast day tomorrow or over the weekend or I may even try a b2b or a b2b2b. I will decide in the morning methinks.
Right I’m off to make the most of the sunshine and get out for a walk with the baby.
Have a good day folks. 😎🌞
Day 17, Amsterdam, FD
Yikes this week has been a rollercoaster but yesterday my boyfriend and I joined our new gym – such a great place, lots and LOTS of amazing classes – we did an Abs & Core class after the induction which was great, will be sore later today! Super exciting. Got a flat tire on the way there but have jsut sent my bike into the ‘doctor’ so he’ll be right as rain soon.
Mum is possibly going to discharged tomorrow (it’s the NHS, they need the bed!) and is feeling a lot better – her vitals have really improved and she’s on drip antibiotics/rehydration (she was very low). However her doctor apparently wrote ‘anorexic’ in her notes, by which he apparently means lack of appetite (she simply does not eat – she’s at 47kg and declining). We are working on her!
In the meantime, today’s FD should go well. I hope. I’m maybe going to aim for a 600 calorie today as I have a pre-packaged salad at home that goes off tomorrow (@450 cal)!
All the best to today’s fasters. Adding myself to the pocket list:

Plateaux R Us – hilarious!
@mishty – I once experienced hair loss and I think it was the Black Cohosh I was taking to try to manage my hot flashes – as soon as I stopped taking it I stopped losing hair……can’t say 100% that was the cause but it’s the only thing I was doing differently.
Good luck everybody and have a great weekend.
“Three months from now, you’ll thank yourself.”
Day 17 London CD
I heard on the radio that the best therapy is a journal and that the use of ‘artificial counsellors’ are, putting it very simply, a journal with feedback. Researchers are surprised by the very positive outcomes from this type of therapy but it seems people open up much more because they don’t fear being judged by their counsellor and poor their hearts out more. I’m sure the same applies here, my ramblings are my journal and the lovely bonus of being a part of this wonderful shared group is being heard, not being judged and receiving such lovely feedback. Its a lovely two way thing going on here. So thank you for all the welcome back and ’keep at it messages’, lovely to hear.
Good FD yesterday so getting my ‘thin on the inside’ feeling back and feeling back in control.
@diana123 – hope the dress hunt is going well. No help to you now but I bought two dresses in different sizes when my daughter got married two years ago. Pleased to say I fitted into the smaller one but ashamed to say I put all the weight back on and more, yep that story, this time it has to be for good which is why I have chosen this sustainable WOL.
@missybear – we are thinking of upping sticks from London to N Wales, so intrigued to hear of your move to Pembrokeshire. Love to hear your thoughts and experience of the move and lifestyle changes?
@michelinme and @basyjames – ditto loosing the same 3-4 Ilbs, just bouncing at the mo!
@penz – Hope the MO eventually works for you. I have suffered horribly with sleep problems, it’s a lonely place in the small hours. My saviour was listening to the radio on a sleep timer – found talk radio best, music kept me awake, the conversation had to be interesting enough to catch my attention and stop me thinking but on the right side of dull that I’d relax and drift off. My routine at bedtime now is to listen to the Archers (long running daily 13 minute radio soap in the uk) and most nights I’m asleep before the dum dee dums (end music) kicks in.
@bert1802 – I know what pecans are and I know what turtles are but pecan turtles? Intrigued, though I’m guessing they won’t be good for me!
Good luck everyone, buckets of positivity to you all and stay focused @ktcaroline. x
Day 17, UK, FD
I forgot to plan the food for my FD today 😱 , that usually makes it harder so I will have to have something planned asap!
@ah-tee OMAD FD = One Meal A Day , FD = Fast Day (obviously :D) , some people have all allowed calories , 500 usually, in one go on FD 🙂
@daffodil2010 how great is that! Pounds are dropping rapidly! Awesome 💃 And I bought a couple of those little pots of summer salad from local Lidl haha 😀
@kerryn73 I was just kidding, I know my fellow tortoise wont mind if I have an extra FD, once a member of Club Tortoise always a member of CT 😎

Day 17……Florida….FD
Well another turn of events at work, surprised but a good one. I told you all about my new position but I was also still doing a lot of my old position as well. 2weeks ago, they had hired a new girl for the purchasing and contractors desk, that would also sub for me when I was gone for the day with my other duties.
However, the bosses came to me yesterday and well I’m on the another road all together now. No more old position, it’s all new now!
They moved the new girl in my old position, moved me into purchasing and the contractors desk as well the position I started on Monday.
So as it stands, a lot of work and learning will be required on my part! Not that I cant handle it but I think they are reformulating for future plans that I can only speculate on at this time but also I think that they reformatting also to use a persons strengths to the own benefit. As business owners it’s a very smart move.
Life has been a bit of a roller coaster, so, my WOE has been on that same coaster. But, I’m making progress….. Only one solid FD this week, but along with everything else I’ve got a lot of work and learning to do!
@strawberriesand cream…… you will be missed, take care of yourself and hurry back!
@dingping…… you made me giggle this morning.I can only imagine the image you painted for pecan turtles…. They are extremely addicting but it’s pecans and caramel covered in chocolate. When you look at them the kind of got the looks of a turtle!
Okay….. I’m off to discover a new world
I dream of living in a world where a chicken can cross the road and his motives are not questioned!

Great FD yesterday, 501 cals. @daffodil2010, wow! 4 lbs. in one week is phenomenal! @catch87, glad your mom is doing better. @dingping, my life would not be complete without my journal…seems I am more grounded when I sort of follow myself around, jotting down things I think, things I do, reminders, goals, inspirations. I’ve got notebooks galore filled page-to-page. It’s really therapueutic to look back on them sometimes and see progress, mistakes, history, a-ha moments.
Day 17, Cornwall UK, FD
2nd post
Just made the effort to get out and walk on a fast day, as it should help with the fat burning – thats the hope anyway. Went on my favourite walk along Lower Castle Road in St Mawes, up to the castle along the sea front and back to St Mawes Bakery for a black coffee outside in the sun by the harbour. Its such a quirky bakery, run by locals, never heard of plant milk and wouldn’t dream of making vegan cake. But their pasties etc are really good and they do stretch to a vegetarian one. Keeps my mind off the food and it makes me feel virtuous sitting there drinking black coffee and watching others eating really-bad-for-you cake! Normally its the other way round.
On the way back I spotted the first Elderflower of the season. They are a bit late this year. But my OH is into the garage cleaning out the brewing equipment for the first batch of Elderflower Champagne, which we hope to start soon. My most favourite drink of all time. But I guess I need to be careful this year as it does have a lot of residual sugar – maybe I need to refine the recipe and add less sugar.
@daffodil2010 – so pleased for you that you are in touching distance of your goal. I read your posts and realise it will be a hard won battle. So stay strong over the next few days! I feel a little envious of your travel van – sounds great to drive around Europe to all sorts of exciting places. You’ll have to do a blog!
Day 17 OREGON, USA
FD #2 TODAY ! Cuppa Coffee 1/2 1/2 going down right now, then out to Swim.
Have dropped 2#s already, going nicely here. Let’s see what happens.
@mishty, @rainbowsmile, @stoic — re hair loss, I’ve been talking with my stylist abt the fact that I have an area on each side of the center that are actually, um… receding in a very guy like style. She said she’d heard that with age this happens (I’m 65) and that with less estrogen, more iron is needed – haven’t looked further into that connection but sure reflects what you are saying, @rainbowsmile and also your experience with Black Cohosh, @stoic – at least that it’s likely hormone related. There’s research going on abt this, let’s see further. And then also wisdom and good philosophy ha ha esp for those of us who qualify : )
@metatauta and @dingping — totally agree on the journalling ! And yes, AI facilitated psychotherapy is a new way, gonna get stronger, crazy stuff. One day we’ll have to figure out what humans do. Paid for, in person psychotherapy is muchly listening anyway. Many folks mainly need to talk to someone who is avidly listening (and yes a few suggestions might help even more, but avid listening is key!). People often find their own way if allowed to just by doing that (!). I’ve thought that vocally taping a journal might be interesting and work just as well. I’d want to go analog on that one though, ha ha just for privacy reasons (!)
@shinything – thanks for the translations, ha ha these TLAs they’ll get us every day : )
@flourbaby – THANK YOU – I’m gonna give that a try for a couple things. We find people low in Mg all the time when they come in to hospital and it helps a lot to give it back to them. A couple things are fatal and related (have a look at torsades de pointes for instance), not to mention other arrhythmias and electrolyte imbalances which themselves affect everything. One can overdose anything taken as supplement -rather than just in food – first ss are diarrhea, urinary retention, sweating, flushing. Can cause Ca++ to go down etc. BUT I’m going to give this a try !! Pretty easy to get a Mag level done if taking regularly for a while. Sorry if this is TMI ;-/)
Daffodil20110 – YES !
Regarding eating out, we started a regular open mic last night and I don’t like to eat before I sing, so waited til after (these are new-to-town “mini gigs” for us in that a bunch of folks who play music here (real well !) get together on Wed and Fridays at two different eateries with stages and just take turns playing music for ourselves and for everyone who comes to eat and drink there that night. Sweet !) So there’s my twice weekly challenge – neither place is organic vegie or all that good for food. I did OK but will need to find a better way for this one. Maybe we will just eat a late lunch as dinner, done that before and just have beer once there : ). OTHER IDEAS WELCOME : )
Best to all of you today !

Day 17 Wales 🏴 FD
So far so good, just sipping water to drown the hunger dragon.
@cornish-jane elderflower champagne is something I’ve never encountered, sounds yum!
@dingping I worked in urban regeneration which meant my entire working life involved being in deprived inner city areas so my master plan for retirement so to move to a more rural environment. We started our new home search closer to where we lived before but kept widening the search until we found the the right property in the right village which is in a part of the country neither of us had ever been to until we came to view the house…..and the house/village/area just felt right. I have been surprised how quickly we felt at home here. It’s sometimes difficult to be a 4 hour drive away from old friends but the advantages of living in such a glorious area outweigh that. Pembrokeshire actually feels very ‘English’, its referred to as little England beyond Wales and there a lot of English people who have retired in the county and so we haven’t experienced any culture shock or alienation – everyone is so friendly and welcoming that at first I was deeply suspicious that the water was drugged or that I had moved into a ‘Stepford Wives’ kind of community but I think it’s the slower relaxed pace of life that makes people happier. I love living by the coast and manage to fit in a beach walk every time I go to Sainsbury’s. It seemed odd at first how quiet the area becomes in winter when very few tourists visit and many shops and restaurants close for the season, but now I enjoy all seasons equally for different reasons. Good luck with your new home search, you will probably find it enjoyable and frustrating in equal measure, hope you find your dream home in a location you love.
Keep on keeping on everyone 😊
Day 17 – USA – NFD
Second post: @cornish-jane, this may be a silly question, but is it possible to use xylitol or erythritol instead of pure sugar in the making of the Elderflower Champagne or would it not have the same fermentation effect?
Day 17 – UK – NFD
Day 16 – NFD
Day 15 – Feast Day 😈
Lovely to hear that so many enjoyed a fab Mother’s Day with family 👨👩👧👦
Busy start of the week but a quieter 2nd half……Weather up here in Cumbria has been gorgeous
On Tuesday went out with a couple of friend for an 8mile fell walk – it was just perfect and had a healthy lunch afterwards – great start to the day but then unplanned dinner out with friends that evening…..need I say more hence the 😈
Yesterday had a brilliant yoga class in the morning 🧘♀️
In the afternoon I went to do my regular volunteer session at the club for the elderly – we did an afternoon tea to celebrate the royal wedding! I baked a lemon and elderflower cake which came out surprising well – followed my trusted lemon drizzle recipe but added elderflower cordial instead of the 3TBSP of milk to the batter, once cooked and cooled I brushed an elderflower syrup on top and then made a mascarpone based elderflower icing for between the layers and the top – Another volunteer made small scones with jam and cream and we also made a selection of crustless finger sandwiches – everyone turned up dressed for the occasion and had a good time – lovely to be able to give something back and to see how so little can give such enjoyment.
Went shopping with DD this morning to get things for her new puppy “Archie” (a beagle) she’s getting him on Saturday week and is very excited – we had a light lunch afterwards and a catchup about her wedding plans.

@dingping – hope things settle down and you can feel less chaotic 🙏
@debster251 – 1hr Pilates in the afternoon and 1.5hr Yoga in the evening is a regular Monday pattern for me – love the buzz I get and I usually combine with a FD and always sleep well that night
@shinything and @emma1202 – Hopefully the little devils will remind me that I have no wish to go backwards and keep me on track 😉
Making a creole seafood risotto tonight for dinner – recipe from a new cookbook OH got me by Babette de Rozieres “Creole” – relatively healthy so should be a controlled FD overall
“If I quit now, I will soon be back to where I started. And when I started, I was desperately wishing to be where I am now”
Hi I realise I am joining the May Challenge when we’re more than half way through the month, but…
1. I realised it’s 8 weeks today that I go on holiday and I feel fired up to get my mojo together to finally do something about losing “the next stone”.
2. I re-read The Fast Diet which prompted me to look for the website again.
3. My husband is keen to join in this time.
I’m aiming for 14 pounds lost in the 8 weeks to holidays, initially losing 4 pounds in the remaining 2 weeks of the month. I am already enjoying the chat and support from this forum!
