  • Day 10, Gozo, Malta, cd

Partially cloudy day in Gozo and Malta.

I’m making today a controlled day. I’m having tarragon chicken with vegetables for lunch.

Have a great day everyone, onwards and downwards.

    Day 10, Emden Germany, NFD

    Day 10 – Dubai – NFD

Just checking in. Nice to see your post @Bert1402, I like your sponge analogy, very funny, :).

I’m down another pound for a total of 8.2 pounds since starting this WOL in April. My weight this morning is 146.8.

@daffodil2010 my goal is also 125 so pat yourself on the back for being so close!

“Three months from now, you’ll thank yourself.”

    Day 10 UK NFD

It’s the baby’s first day at nursery today so I’m in for a very stressful and emotional day. I must try not to comfort eat!!!

Day 10 London, UK, FD (3rd of B2B2B)

I had a fantastic boxing class last night, then succumbed to the peanut butter (I needed the protein after-all!!!) That fat fairy sitting on my right shoulder is really weighing me down now, whispering sweet nothings in my ear!!! I’m planning to have a good chat with myself this weekend, temptation lies around every corner, and when you add a 3rd FD in each week, as I do, I tend to get a little ‘flexible’ with the rules …………………….. I’m fooling myself if I think a little bit over 500 cals is ok, IT ISN’T, because for me, a little here and a little there has me heading down the wrong path………………… I wouldn’t mind if it was an extra 100cals of cucumber…………………….. but we all know it isn’t!!!!! Glad to see you back @bert1802, (I’ve missed your ending this month) I’m with you on the back to basics, as of next week it’s back to 5:2 at 500cals & at or below TDEE NFDs, let’s go ‘Old Skool’ together!!! ……………………….. simple!!! Success doesn’t mean I get to take my foot off of the gas!!!!

@lilymartin, I can’t guestimate calories, portions or weights to save my life; so I weigh & measure everything otherwise it’s a slippery slope, it’s still difficult for me to leave that last lonely tablespoon of whatever in the saucepan, but as someone said a while ago ………………… I’m NOT a bin, I neither want or need it so put it in the bin not in me!!!!!

@cornish-jane, good going with the MO, keep going as you top up you’ll improve sleep!! Yoga, pilates and boxing on a once a day spritz of MO and no whiffy effects, just be careful as underarm skin is a little more sensitive than ‘beach feet’ (LOL) and you will sweat, but it will be completely odourless and as a bonus there won’t be any staining of white clothes!!! I must be 3-4 years deodorant free now & I may have mentioned once or twice before (!!) how it completely got rid of my brothers’ toenail fungus & my mums oedema & leg cramps…………………… I swear I don’t have shares in MO!!!!!!!! Just spreading the love!!!!!!

You’re so right @daffodil2010 ……………’PERSPECTIVE’ ……………… I’m 38lbs lighter than when I started, what’s not to be proud of, we all want more, More, MORE, but I’ll take the tortoise road to get it, no big deal!!!

    Onward & downwards folks!!!

    Day 10 FD Ireland

Hi everyone. I have enjoyed reading all of your posts. I don’t get to post myself very often.
I start doing 5:2 just a week before this May group kicked off so today is my 6th fast day I believe.
I have gone over the 500 calories some days…due to me not being able to resist having a skinny cappuccino each day!
I have had one so far today and will aim to use no more calories until dinner when I plan to have some chicken, veg and a small amount of potatoes.

I have about 3 stone to lose so I’m hoping to see a good dent in that by the end of May to spur me on to continue.

P.s. what is a pocket list?

    Day 10 Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 FD

@ripple a pocket list is a list of those of sharing a particular goal, you will see daily lists of fasters (as below) or other lists of people doing exercise or not drinking alcohol. It helps to know you have company!

Have a great day everyone 😊

    Day 10…..Florida…..FD

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome home……I weighed in this morning at 132.8, up nearly 6lbs from my lowest of 127lbs. As I said earlier, it’s not so much the weight but my body has really taken the hit.
So, I’m back to work today as well….So, a lot of unknowns as I venture into the real world today.

Flourbaby…….I didn’t realize until your post that I don’t have an ending for this month. I will get that changed tonight.

Dykask…….happy birthday to your poppa….. I know plenty of 80 and 90 year olds that are still very active, a couple of them are farmers as well….. one told me a few years back, that he has ran his farm since he was a young lad and although he’s slower and it takes him longer but it’s the farm and the chores that keep him going.
The way I look at age is if you can still do, then age is just a number….

    Okay well I’m off……

hello everyone Day 10 FD in NI – so far so good
Day 9 healthy eating day and was pleased how the day went.
I have a couple of pages of posts to catch up on but I hope all is good.

Saw this and thought I would share to have in our armoury when we need to fight dragons.

5 WAYS TO BOUNCE BACK FROM A BINGE
Thanks to the brilliant team at MAN v FAT for this blog post.

It’s not something we like to admit to, but binge eating is extremely common among people who are trying to lose weight. It doesn’t matter how much weight you lose or how healthy your diet is, it’s likely there’ll come a time where you think ‘why did I eat all that?!’ as you bin the evidence of last night’s biscuit-fest. So here’s 5 ways to bounce back from a binge.

    1. Don’t: try and ‘make up for it’

After a spell of overeating, it can seem only natural to want to rein it in a bit by restricting what you eat to minimise the damage. But that’s not really how it works – if you go too far the other way and deprive yourself of food you’re more likely to experience another binge eating episode when you get so hungry that you eat whatever junk you can get your hands on. And then you’ll feel guilty and disappointed in yourself again, then like you need to cut back to compensate for it and it’ll all become a vicious circle that is extremely difficult to break out of. So don’t try and make up for it – instead, accept that it has happened and move on.

    2. Do: get back to normal as soon as possible

How many times have you fallen off the wagon and thought ‘screw it, I may as well keep eating shit and start again on Monday’? We get it – there’s something very appealing about starting fresh on a shiny new week, but what’s the point? Take control now. Make your next meal the one where you get back to your normal healthy habits. You’re not going to be any happier if you’ve got another weekend of excess eating (quite literally) under your belt – you’re just going to feel even more sluggish and it’ll be even more difficult to get back to normal and then you’ll be even further away from your goals.

In the wise words of Unknown, if you had one flat tire you wouldn’t slash the other three (unless…would you? Weirdo) and so you shouldn’t give up on your goal because of one setback.

    3. Do: drink water

Although you shouldn’t fall for the idea of ‘detoxing’ your body (spoiler: your body is pretty good at ‘detoxing’ itself without special smoothies and juices), you should definitely up your water intake. Drinking water will stop you from getting dehydrated from all the sodium you’ve likely just consumed and it will also help with digestion, making it less likely that you’ll become constipated.

    4. Do: get moving

When you’re feeling lethargic and full after binge eating, you’re probably going to want to just lie on the sofa doing nothing except possibly clutching your belly and wailing, but although it’ll feel like the last thing you want, the best thing you can do is to get active. We’re not talking taking on a round of Insanity or heading straight to a spin class after polishing off a family-sized bag of crisps, but get yourself up and moving. Go for a walk and blow off the cobwebs – it doesn’t need to be an especially long walk, but getting yourself out of the house will take your mind off that uncomfortable full feeling and will help your body start to process all the excess food.

    5. Do: cut yourself some slack

Most importantly, don’t beat yourself up about it. Changing a lifetime’s worth of unhealthy eating habits is a monumental task and it’s not always going to be smooth sailing. Instead of berating yourself, try and see it as something to learn from. This is how you’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again, although let’s be honest, it probably will happen again purely because it’s such a hard habit to break. It can take a lot of time and effort to overcome.

If you think about the whys and hows of this binge eating episode, hopefully you’ll be able to identify what triggered it so you’ll be better prepared for the next time you come across the same feelings. Had a long and stressful day at work which made you seek comfort in a whole tub of Ben & Jerry’s? Next time you start to feel frazzled, go for a walk, do some yoga or an exercise or activity you enjoy to destress instead of turning to food.

    Day 10, USA, CD

Good morning, it is so nice to be here, spirits are high! Thanks all for the congrats, and passing them on to @stoic for your pound loss. 🙂 @lilymartin, I have been logging food every day since I started and believe it is one reason for my success. I’m doing LCHF and limiting protein, so it also lets me plan my eating for the day, and tinker with my plan to keep the macros where I do best.

    Enjoy the day everyone! 🙂

Penz: Saw what you wrote about age and invisibility! I am right there with you but do remember that white and grey hair is all the rage right now, even young women are dying their hair those non-colors!! LOL Good to be the cool girls again! Put on a pair of pretty yoga pants and you’ve got it, baby!! LOL

    Day 10 UK FD (2nd of B2B)

    TL:DR long rambly post

Yesterday’s extra FD surprisingly successful at c650 calories. This despite evening munchies which were dispatched with salty food as I’d run out of apples – a mug of hot vegetmite and 10g cheese. I really enjoyed a smoked tofu salad and a baked sweet potato with quorn chicken fillets.

This morning I feel more focused and less bloated & 2nd FD feels much easier. Last time I tried B2B I had increased joint pain on the 2nd evening and the day after – which I recall reading has to do with body fighting inflammation? Be interesting to see what happens this time round. For the first time, I can imagine it being possible to do longer fasts for health reasons.

Day 5 of Magnesium oil brought another great sleep – albeit too short again – and waking without anxiety. I seem to be better in touch with pain & energy levels and less easily distracted. I was remarkably chilled for yesterday’s hospital appt- so much so that the friend accompanying me thought it was miraculous! I’m feeling restored to myself in a whole new way, and increasingly conscious the wider benefits of this WOL, and of the shared wisdom & experience of this wonderful group – thank you all!!

@bert1802 welcome back! Thank you for sharing your experience and ideas, your daily diaries of life and work and family, and especially how you deal with the difficult stuff
@lilymartin wow – passing up on chocolate! I keep a daily food diary and find it invaluable to keep me on track and honest, and understanding the effect of things I’ve eaten over a longer period. Most of the time I’ll weigh and count calories, especially to work out calories for baking cakes, bread etc tho I’m pretty good at estimating regular stuff now
@penz welcome back – glad you had a great holiday 🙂
@dykask love your daily thoughts, and happy birthday to your dad!
@cornishjane i also found i became less visible when i put on weight. I wasn’t sure if it might be age or disability, but as i’ve lost weight I’ve also wonder whether i’m sending out a different vibe now that i’m more comfortable, and confident, less anxious and more present
@daffodil2010 thank you for the perspective – I’ve also been frustrated on plateau and lost sight of where I began, and that I’m well on the journey to where i want to be 🙂
@coda thank you for sharing that fantastic article
@sarahbob hope your baby has had a good day at nursery – i remember that well!
@flourbaby i thought of you last night as i approached the peanut butter – luckily there was only just over a tsp left!

    Day 10 – USA – NFD

Good FD yesterday at 501 cals. @onlyhermes, I agree that it’s important to limit protein on an LCHF regimen; I use MFP to check my macros daily. @coda, thanks for the great advice in the article; sounds like you’ve got your mojo back; @sarahbob, by now your little one must be through the first day of nursery, so I hope all went well; many of us have very fond memories of that season of life; @michelinme, I use magnesium citrate once in a while when I have sleepless nights or leg cramps and it works very well, but I’m toying with the idea of making my own with the flakes. The only drawback is: I already have wrinkly hands; will it make them worse? @ccco, your spunkiness (is that a word?) comes through in such a youthful way with your comments about cool girls, lol! @bert1802, welcome back and good to see you’re in gear again!

    USA Day 10 FD

I am delighted with the complete success of my B2B water fast, my very first, that it has turned into a B2B2B, never heard of for me before! I only indulged in some veggie juice for some energy because I am exercising and playing golf! I weighed myself this morning and I have dropped weight putting me back to where I began this month. That is good news and puts me in place to meet my May goal! 🙂

Lilymartin: I have to crunch numbers, too, but it has become second nature for me!

Cornish-jane: I have eczema, too, and I era one of the health benefits of fasting is that it helps with eczema in cell repair. Since fasting, my eczema has improved! Another good reason to fast!

Stoic: Congrats on your weight loss!

Sarahbob: I know that is hard the first time but just know she will be fine!

    Coda: Thank you for sharing!

Have a great day, everyone! 🙂

Day 10 North Canton Oh FD

I ate way too many nuts yesterday, and was not as controlled as I would like. Thank you for the reminder @coda, our instinct when we overdo it in the nutrition department is to swing like a pendulum in the other direction, and then swing back: Binge, over-restrict, binge, over-restrict, repeat! I have done that, many, many, many, times. For the first time, I am trying to be mindful, forgive myself for my shortcomings, and just keep going; it feels good.

As part of nursing week activities, there’s a breakfast buffet downstairs, as well as barbecue cookout planned for lunch, and I was sorely tempted to kick my FD to the curb, but It was so inspiring to read everyone’s post and that helped motivate me.

On a lighter note, thanks for the magnesium spray referral. Last night I tried it on my teen who has sleep issues. She said she fell asleep immediately and woke up before her alarm went off this morning. In addition she was so pleasant and mellow this morning, like a whole different person. I almost can’t believe it!!!

In other unrelated and unpleasant news, seasonal allergies are giving me a run for my money this morning – ugh. Love spring, hate the sniffles that come with it. See ya’ll later

Day 10 Stevensville Maryland USA CFD

Trying to hang in there today, I am going to dinner with my DD and my MIL of 93yrs, this will be a first as it is a CFD, let’s see how I handle this one!! So far no weight gain, yay.

The best preparation for tomorrow is to be your best today. Have a great Thursday everyone.

Popping back to put @ccco on the pocket list – sorry, I meant to do it yesterday too & got distracted. it’s always good to feel ourselves held among friends 🙂

@basyjames @diana123 Huge empathy with your teen and with your MIL. I can’t tell you how much magnesium oil has instantly helped anxiety and pain as well sleep. I’ve been in pain and not slept well for more than 20 years, and to have a sudden improvement is a gift. Anxiety developed as a side effect of prescribed medications – while they fixed the original acute physical condition they also damaged my working memory and created a constant anxiety. I’ve felt anxious for more than a decade, without always recognising it bc it was simply how my brain functions now. Having these suddenly better altogether is like being cuddled in a warm blanket – simply miraculous. I hope i remember this feeling 🙂

    Day 10. WI, USA NFD

Have a little cold. Jostling between feeling fasting is the best thing for a cold and craving a packaged snack which normally does not tempt me. Just ate the packaged protein bar, so I did not win this battle. 🙂

Hope you all have a wonderful day!!!

    Day 10, NFD, USA

    3rd day of B2B2B.

Hey Lilymartin – welcome home! Always nice to catch up with people.

Speaking of which, I am missing your new monthly sign off Bert1802. C’mon, we’re almost half way through the month and you must have thought of something catchy by now! 🙂 (But seriously, also ‘welcome back’ and good luck in your recommencement of 5:2 basics.)

Thanks ccco. Maybe that’s what I’m doing wrong; I only have a lock of grey hair at the front and a couple of other strays. I should just dye the lot and go for the full grey helmet! And mega congrats for your B2B2B – that’s fab! I hope you find they get easier.

Coda – great blog post, thanks. Point no. 2 (How many times have you fallen off the wagon and thought ‘screw it, I may as well keep eating shit and start again on Monday’?) really resonated with my natural inclination after a FD. The dragon whispers, ‘you’ve just done 3 FDs in a row, so screw it, you can keep eating shit until next week’s FD!’

Some nasty person brought donuts into the office so I better get stuck into work so I don’t think about them. (Do not think about pink elephants, do not think about pink elephants, do not think…)

Day 10 – SW WA USA – FD

    @ripple – welcome
@daffodil2010 – would you share how you do your chicken bone broth? How do you get your chicken bones for it? I’ve done beef bone broth once and got bones from the local produce store.

    Day 10, UK, FD

    Day 11…NSW Australia…NFD
    Nearly 7.20am Friday

    Hi everyone. Just checking in.

Enjoyed your post @coda re: ‘5 ways to bounce back from a binge’- all so true! I feel we all need to be kinder to ourselves and relish the fact we have made a decision to bring about change within ourselves, for our betterment! Sometimes it’s not easy, but at least we are making an effort – congratulations to each of us 🎉🎊🌹🌏

Hi and warm welcome to all our new 5:2 friends – this forum is so friendly, informative and supportive. Enjoy!

Must go – enjoy whatever you are getting up to and bye for now!

    Day 11 – Japan – FD 81.8kg

If all goes well this will be my 32nd full day of water fasting this year. I’m not counting partial days.

I’m amazed at how many people can make it through a day eating just a few hundred calories of food. I simply don’t have that kind of strength. Once I start eating the hunger gets to be too much. I’m okay if I don’t start eating, then I can normally make it through the day without too much hunger. I water fast because I don’t have the strength of will to just way under-eat. The only days I’ve probably eaten less than 1000 calories are when I’ve been sick to my stomach, which isn’t very often. I’m binary when it comes to food, nothing or plenty. A few years ago I used to keep my calorie intake in the 1700 to 2000 calories / day range, I don’t think I could do that anymore.

I know many people year not only eat very little on fast days but also don’t eat that much on NFDs. Now that is will power. Losing that pound a week is very well deserved by that group of people!

Day 10- North Carolina – FD

Sorry for checking in so late in the day! FD is almost over. Today wasn’t so hard because I was so busy. I took the day off work and pack and shop for the food we will need during our trip tomorrow. I was dreading Costco and Trader Joe’s while fasting but it wasn’t too bad.

@lilymartin I am so bad at guesstimating my portions that if I didn’t measure and record everything I put in my mouth, I would overeat every single day. I love the Lifesum app for that.

For all of you who do B2B2B, that is so impressive. Can you confirm how that works? If I pretend I start on a Monday, does it mean I fast that day, fast Tuesday and again on Wednesday?

Thank you @coda for sharing the post.

Day 10 – USA (Illinois) NFD

Back home again. Day wasn’t horrible, but looking forward to fixing all my own food again.

    Onward and downward.

    Day 10 NFD Oregon USA
Well my friends I am afraid that at least temporarily, I need to say farewell.

Happily I jumped on and saw @coda‘s post about “binging” and getting back on the wagon.

I find that I am waffling in all phases of 5:2 and unable to get back to the basis WOL. Unfortunately it ends up making me feel double guilty because I don’t want to post either.

So I think I am going to take May off and see what happens.
I need a little mental space from myself!😊

To all my “friends”, my fellow tortoises, my button resetters, my carb avoiders, the plankers, the old-timers, the newbies and the maintainers…be strong, stay healthy and BE HAPPY!

You are the most wonderful online community and I look forward to finding my way back to you soon. ❤️❤️❤️

    Day 11 – Ireland 🇮🇪 -NFD

Had a lovely date night, delicious (home cooked by DH) dinner, some wine, cheese and crackers….so yup, fell off the pocket list yesterday but only up by a half pound this morning so I consider that a great result for a great night ☺️

Tonight I go out with the girls. We go to my friends house first where she will reveal her new kitchen then off to a restaurant for dinner and cocktails. Looking forward to that 😀

@annemarilyn I simply use the chicken carcass from a roast chicken dinner for my bone broth. Cold filtered water, a couple of bay leaves, an onion, carrot, salt and pepper, then bring to boil and simmer for at least 6 hours.

@mjrbcd44 I have to say I am going to miss you. I hope you are not dropping out for long as I have always enjoyed your witty updates. I particularly enjoyed your take on UK geography and putting all the Londonerers together with those in the Shires 😆 Do take care and come back soon my friend 🤗

    Have a great Friday everyone.

    Day 11 Belfast NFD
@mjrbcd44 I’ll miss your posts, but I fully understand where you’re coming from. Look after yourself and above all, cut yourself some slack. You didn’t come this far to only come this far.
Stepped on the scales this morning and I’m at my lowest for many years. Albeit by 1/4lb but I’ll take that. I must not sabotage my progress, I must not sabotage my progress, I must not sabotage my progress, ………

    Day 11 – Kent NFD

Weigh in day today, 187lbs down from 192lb at the start of May, 4 fasts done. I am pleased with that as I haven’t felt like I’m on a ‘diet’ which feels great! I do have a goal of 154lbs so have a long way to go, I am going to Florida in October I’m hoping to be near goal or at least in that stone bracket by then. It feels great to know that I can have a piece of chocolate if I want to but sometimes I don’t want to which is new to me! Especially the day after a fast I don’t want to undo all the good work the day before.
Have a great day everyone x

    Day 11, Cornwall UK, NFD

Weekly weigh-in and 0.4kg down to 78.0kg. Slow and steady! Better than up and down and all-over-the-place, which is how it happened last month, which messes with my head. Really focusing on the next 7kgs to get to 25 BMI but have to take each day at a time, and keep the dreaded snack-dragon locked up.

@debster251 – congratulations on your new low.
@floridafun – so good 5:2 is working for you – time is your friend with 5:2 because as the weeks and months go by, life just gets better, you get to eat chocolate, and create your own good news, rather than reading about someone elses!
@mjrbcd44 – hope to see you back soon – I’ll miss you.
@coda – the binge story is so true – could be told as a year by year story for me – years of overeating followed by years of control followed by years of overeating…or more probably, years of eating healthy food followed by years of eating highly processed food. I beat myself up about ‘overeating’ (society calls greedy) but in reality I’ve never been a big overeater, just maybe making the wrong choices. eg 1 pizza is 1500 cals and 1 large salad is less than 500 cals – what do you choose?!!!

    Day 11 – UK – Reading CD

Being realistic about today – Friday is never a good day for a FD for me. Was anyone left on the pocket list yesterday after we all fell off? I wasn’t exactly a saint …

    Day 11, London, UK, NFD,

@ktcaroline & @daffodil2010, my fellow lemmings!!! I too hurled myself off of the pocket list, just because I could; I think!!! Anyway, below TDEE but still, this wobble feels a little like it will gain momentum if I don’t jam on the brakes!!!

@mjrbcd44, we all need a break every now and then, the hard part is getting back on the wagon, so set an alarm, write it on the calender, tattoo it on your forehead …………. we WILL see you back for the June challenge!!??? Won’t we????? Reset, Reset, RESET!!!!

Quick check in, off to the Dr. for a check up, then to Pilates!!!

I’ll catch up & comment later………… Be Well everyone!!!!

    Day 11 Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 NFD

Yesterday’s FD was just under 700 calories, I’ve been within TDEE all week and my weight this morning is up by almost 3 pounds???!!!!!😡 This is dangerous territory as the reason I’ve been so controlled this week is that I’m going out for an Italian meal tonight which will likely be high refined carb and sugar, not food I usually eat. Now I feel like what the hell, I might as well relax and enjoy tonight and eat whatever I want! OK, I’m having a tantrum. Let’s hope I calm down before tonight otherwise I’ll be ordering 4 courses of tiramisu and a crate of Shiraz 😋

    Day 11, UK, NFD

Yesterday was another successful FD, stayed under 500 cal, so happy with that. Not that the scales have moved though but I decided to just ignore them right now and be happy with what I’m doing *nods*

@mjrbcd44 we will miss you , but if space is needed than that must be a priority. Hope to see you back soon, stay well 🤗

@debster251 congrats on being at your lowest weight for a long time, what a great feeling that is 💃

@floridafun you are making a great progress, way to go! Keep going and you will thank yourself when the time comes to go on that holiday 😀

@missybear I feel your frustration, it happened to me in the past and it makes you feel like you wanna smash those scales. I could never pin point what makes that happen, so all I can say is our bodies are mysterious things 🤔. Keep going, the weight WILL go down 🙂

@sarahbob how was your little one’s first day at nursery? 😊

Have a great Friday and weekend everyone ❤ 😀

    Day 11…..Florida…..FD

Well, my friends yesterday, I finally did it! I had myself a successful FD! It’s been well over a month since that happened. Surprisingly, all though my belly rumbled a bit before I broke my fast it actually was not to bad and I wasn’t dog tired and ready for bed right after dinner. Win for me!

I’m going to do it again today, so, I can get my 2 days in this week. Then, next week, I want to try and get into my three day fasts Mon, Wed and Friday. If Icanbe successful with that I should be on track to lose what I’ve gained and be on track to reach my goal whatever that may be!

@ mjrbc……you truly will be missed……Take care of yourself and drop in every once and a while to say Hey……..

Well, I’m off…..I really need to find an ending to make my commitment official……

    Day 11 UK CD

Yesterday’s FD/2nd day of B2B, nearly disappeared after massive salad with smoked tofu failed to keep me on point. In danger of jumping over with my fellow lemmings but pulled a neat rescue with supper of hot vegemite, a baked sweet potato with a smidgeon of butter and 10g salty cheese, and 2 tangerines. Finished the day just under 800 which’ll do me.

Initially disappointed with my weekly weigh & measure, with no changes despite 3 FD and staying under TDEE all week. Somehow found myself thinking “i feel good so it must be doing something and the numbers will follow” – thank you Magnesium Oil for the personality change! But entering results into tracker found I’d misremembered previous numbers and actually lost 1lb and a whole inch from my waist 🙂

I’m now 154lbs 70kg or 11 stone, waist 30″ and my BMI down from 28.9 to 24.9 – just into health – yay!! That’s an amazing 24lbs & 6.5″ off my waist in just over 5 months, and my lowest weight since summer 2007. I feel like an advert for slow & steady, even tho it’s been, or felt, pretty up & down in the detail.

Now I just need to get thru today’s baking of emergency cake for a friend’s cricket match & my weekly loaf, and have a sensible CD without consuming too much oat bread. It’s a full on weekend with early starts and long days, so today’s about getting the week’s pick up, plan and prep done. Here goes…

@mjrbcd44 I’ll miss you and your daily diaries, wisdom and wit… But breathing spaces are wonderful places for rest and restoration… hope to see you again in June xx
@ccco way to go with your 3day water fast – amazing achievement – & I love your commitmnet and envy your energy!
@basyjames how wonderful to be finding self-compassion as well as self-discipline
@diana123 how did you get on with dinner out on a CFD?
@edzeko Hope you feel better soon. It’s sometimes difficult to work out whether it’s your body or your mind that’s asking for a break, but good to look after yourself first and then get back on track.
@penz i’ve been thinking about pink elephants for 24 hours now 🙁
@shimmera it slows down after the first month but keep steady, keep an eye on the big picture and even if you can’t see immediate results day-to-day or week-to-week, they will definitely come!
@dykask i used to wonder how people were so self-controlled with food and wonder how they did it. Now i find myself doing it and discover it’s not so much a self-control but, for me at least, it’s more a different understanding of what self-care means and keeping an eye on the bigger picture, greater goal. It’s revolutionary!
@debster many congratulations on your new low!
@missybear “4 courses of tiramasu and a crate of wine”! 😀 😀 Results don’t always come immediately, but your body is definitely doing something. The results will come, sometimes a week or two down the line – and sometimes helped by a bit of higher carb celebrating! There’s a wonderful article about this & the whoosh effect that i think @flourbaby posted for me last month
@emma1202 hope you have a great trip
    @songbirdme welcome home
@floridafun 5lbs in 11 days – well done! It’s amazing how our relationship with food & cravings change – but don’t all go away! I love my chocolate but don’t like the sweet stuff now, which I never thought i’d be saying. Moderation and balance are fantastic things to find on the journey 🙂
@cornish-jane congratulations on your steady losses, it all adds up wonderfully. Last month, i was up and down like a yoyo between the same 4lbs and this month it’s completely linear even tho i’ve done what feels like the same stuff. I had managed to put on 4 stone while “making healthy choices” ie a vegetarian eating lots of vegetables. But I had no idea about calories and my portion sizes were huge – esp cheese and carbs – and gradually treats became more frequent until they were part of my daily routine 🙁
@bert1802 Way to go on your successful FD! Way to go on your B2B! Sounds like you’ve got this

Whatever happens, be your best self

Hello all day 11 Healthy eating day in NI

@mjrbcd44 – been there got the teeshirt so know exactly where you are coming from – take time out and relax a little, get things straight in your head and I have no doubt we will see you back here raring to go again and offering support. Remember to help others we need to put the oxygen mask on ourselves first.

@bert1802 – welcome back and good to see you are getting back on wagon.

@debster251 – well done you, way to go!

@missybear – take a leaf from @shinything ‘I decided to just ignore them right now and be happy with what I’m doing’ Ok, you didn’t get the result from those scales that you wanted – you have a choice – throw caution to the wind, have that tantrum and eat all in sight or take a deep breath – put things into perspective, go out and enjoy yourself and eat mindfully. Which choice do you think will make you feel best the next day?

    Day 11 USA (Illinois) NFD

Hope to get caught up on reading everyone’s stories and struggles. Just hangin’ in there on maintenance myself….

    Onward and downward.

    Day 11 North Wales NFD

@missybear I go up and down by about 3 lbs. I think, when on maintenance, we need to be mindful that we won’t be the same weight every day. I don’t weigh myself that often, I can tell by my clothes if I have put a few pounds on and then I just make sure I am more careful on a fast day.

    Day 11, 2nd post

I’m over 26 hours into the fast. From here I’ll make it. However I wasn’t feeling good a while ago, but I was stuck at a desk. When I was able to get up and walk and do 20 floors of stairs I started feeling better. Even light exercise makes a huge difference.

Today my blood glucose has been running lower than normal. Probably because I eat about 90% vegan the last couple of days. Mostly just cheese would prevent me from saying it was vegan diet. However I’m not giving up the cheese because I enjoy it and it probably helps a lot with the B12, etc. On Tuesday I eat some fish and some ham, along with some cheese. One really nice thing about B vitamins is they can be stored for a very long time in the liver, so you don’t need to get them everyday.

    Day 11, Gozo, Malta, nfd

Today I made a fish pie as my expecting daughter requested it.

Tomorrow my son has another O level exam.

I’m going to keep within my tdee today. Have a great Friday everyone. Onwards and downwards.

    Day 11 UK FD

Luckily the baby only cried for the first 10 minutes of nursery yesterday and loved it. He slept very well last night. Back on Monday so hopefully it will go well. 🤞

Fast day going well so far today and exercise all on track. 😁

    Day 11, NFD, USA

It’s Friday and Friday is homemade pizza and wine night in my household. Yay!!!

Yes, @emma1202, a B2B2B is exactly like you describe it; commence FD on Monday, then break fast on the Thursday. I’m like @dykask in that I’m an all or nothing type of eater. So I prefer to do my FDs with only my morning coffees (brewed with a little milk) and perhaps a cheeky spoonful of peanut butter in the evening. Yesterday, I succumbed to a work lunch invitation but only had a small bowl of tom yum soup and two pieces of chocolate for dinner. Not my usual approach, but below the 500/600 cutoff to still qualify for a FD. But!! I have to say, that small bowl of soup really unleashed the hunger dragon and I was so close to chucking it all in for the rest of the day. Glad the will power somehow won over.

Come back soon @Mjrbc44! Most of us struggle at some point or another, so give youself the right amount of downtime and rejoin us when you’re ready. You know this WOL of life works, but it only does so if your head is also in the right space. We’ll miss you!

Yay Bert1802! You’re back! (still missing that sign off tho…)

Amazing results Michelinme. Your weight loss doesn’t look to me like it’s slow and steady – steady definitely, but if my calculations are right, you’ve been averaging a snitch under 5lb a month loss. Which is great!

Thanks Coda – you said so succinctly what my daily mental battles with draong are all about “Which choice do you think will make you feel best the next day?”

Great news Sarahbob – you must feel so relieved.

A question for you all as I don’t really understand how quickly the body uses and stores calories. Say for argument’s sake (and the ease of the maths!) that a person’s TDEE is 2000. Is it better (as far as weight loss / maintenance goes) to have a binge day of 4000 on a Friday, then a weekend of 1000 daily – averaging 2000 calories for the three days. Or three days of 2000? I think I know the answer, but interested in your perspectives.

    Have a good weekend all!

Day 11 North Canton, OH FD!!!

I woke up tired today, thank God it’s Friday. No time to read the posts but you are all on my mind today. Stay strong.

Happy Mother’s day weekend to all the amazing moms (and Mr. Moms) out there!!!

    USA Day 11 FD

Ugh! Just realized I wrote a lengthy post to this site and posted it accidentally to the Science Related site. It’s too long to redo, so I will just wish everyone a great day!

    Day 11, Cornwall UK, NFD

Just fell head first into a large slice of sourdough bread and peanut butter! And thats after I had a good lunch. Serves me right for changing my journey home, pulling in at the bakery, parking, going in, queuing, buying the bread, taking it home, etc, etc. What was I thinking? I think I knew very well what I was thinking! Called pre-meditated snacking – although not sure my brain was actually engaged until this moment.

@michelinme – congratulations on BMI under 25. You can look your doctor in the eye now!
