Not sure how I got on the pocket list as doing a back to back? Today is definitely not a fast day. I have eaten so much I am really uncomfortable:(( When will I learn… Especially with that combined with my TOM and corresponding energy level plunge I am not a happy rabbit. I hope tomorrow’s fast makes me feel better.

@ciren2 I won’t tell you off – if anyone understands how hard it can be to get on the wagon again, its me and I haven’t even got to goal yet. Don’t be sorry but you will have to work on ways round this difficulty. So why do you think you are suddenly eating breakfast? As I am assuming when you were fasting you didn’t have breakfast? So why not plan a breakfast that you will like but lower in calories (are you sure you are having as many as you think) plan 250 – 400 and then plan to have a nice meal when you come home for similar amount of calories. That way you have still kept within fasting calories. Or get up 15mins later so you don’t have time to eat before you go. You are disciplined enough not to eat at work so you will have no choice but to wait. Have something nice planned for about 500 – 800 calories and close the kitchen. There are lots of recipe ideas all calorie counted for you. Or are you like happymargo’s other half who believe a fast is no eating at all and this is why you keep thinking you are not achieving a fast. When you started 5:2 what did you eat, 500 calories or did you suddenly stop eating? What about taking all the pressure of yourself and for the next week only do nfds but plan to keep within your tdee. No sugar, no bread but lots of healthy vegetables, fruit eye. You may need to roughly calorie count but it’s only short time?

Ha ha that should be fruit etc not fruit eye.

Are you under any other pressure?

    D3/ GA, US / NFD

Yesterday and today went well. No binging on anything. I kept me appetite in check and focused on mostly healthy choices. Tomorrow is another FD.

    Day 3 London NFD

I forgot to post yesterday. I’m still getting used to all this, and I didn’t post my goals on day 1 either. So here we go.
Goals for May: Lose 8 pounds.
Over all goals, lose 5 stone (30kg). I feel overwhelmed! But it needs to happen.

So yesterday was my first fast day. It wasn’t too bad. I just had a satsuma as a snack in the morning, and saved the rest of my calories for dinner in the form of turkey breast a yellow bell pepper and a courgette. I woke up in the middle of the night hungry and cheated in the form of some low fat (or so M&S say) crisps. Well as a punishment, I woke up this morning feeling awful and had a horrible bout of vomiting. I don’t know if it was my dinner, or the crisps, but I still feel awful even now. So today has been pretty easy to keep my calories down for a NFD.

Tomorrow is a FD as I am doing ADF for a bit to see how it goes and try to kick start this weight loss. So that’s me for now.

    Day 3 – Cumbria UK – NFD

Busy Day – will check in tomorrow

    Goodnight

    Day 3,Cumbria UK,fd 800

Day 3 NFS St. Louis USA
Weight at 140.4 (down .6 pounds). Chest 40 waist 33 and hips 40.
It’s raining again and I can’t get to work because of roads closed due to river flooding. Just as well since my cold seems to have settled into my chest and I can’t stop coughing. Had some extra carbs so wanting to watch that. Carbs are comfort food for me. Not sure if I’ll do FD tomorrow or not.

    Happy Birthday @songbirdme.

Day 3 MN USA. FD. It’s going well today. Some fast days are just easier. I’m not sure why but I will “take it!” Fast on, my friends!!! Fast on.

B2B FD went well. Kept well below 500 calories and now tucked up in bed away from the kitchen temptation! @sirisan you will be tempted tomorrow especially if not feeling well.. hopefully your cold will “lift” as we say here and you’ll start feeling better.

London | Day 3 | NFD as it turned out

Hey everyone. I’m writing from my hotel room in Leeds. It’s been a long day of work, then getting all the way across London to collect my poster before catching a 2 hour train here. It was past 11 when I checked in. So, I’ll keep this short.
Meant to be my 2 day b2b but woke up with a headache which got worse as the day went on (despite continuously drinking water – so possibly not dehydration). I skipped breakfast, but come 12.30pm my headache was unbearable. So caved into lunch – haloumi wrap and salad. Had a chicken and rice warm salad + more water, just before I got on the train at 8pm.
Headache now gone, but I’m exhausted! Best get some sleep because it will be a long day tomorrow as well.
    Until tomorrow. Good night all

Meant to post on May 1, but traveling and distracted. However, my goal is to lose 4 lbs the month of May, weighed on May 1 at 134.5 lbs. Will do an FD tomorrow and Saturday. Other days will stay at 1200 calories, 400 below TDEE. Here goes!

    Day 3 lancaster pa NFD.

Day 4 FD Country West Australia
Day 3 – Had a reasonable NFD. Only just managed to keep to TDEE.
Was going to be FD but my sister came to visit and I cooked a sausage casserole for my OH so I had to be very careful not to overeat ‘ tasting’ everything to see it tasted OK – it did !!
Drinking lots of water and peppermint tea are my ‘ go to’ when hungry this month.
Tried the hula hooping from February’s challenge and I am still extremely bad at it. Apart from almost putting. my back out, I can’t keep it going longer than 3 or 4 spins.
Throwing everything I can at fitness and health this month to get over/through/under the plateau.
Just read an article in yesterday’s paper that states ‘ to live longer eat like the Greeks – lots of carbs and fasting’!!!
There is so much contradictory info out there it’s a bit of a minefield!
Happy birthday @songbirdme. I think I missed it before.

    Day 4 Brunei FD

I ate quite a lot on NFD yesterday but still not as much as I would have had I not been back on the IF wagon 😊

FD today going well. Has my usual vat of roibos tea and water and a few cucumber carrot sticks. Going to have a coconut water soon (60 cals) and make a minestrone soup this afternoon and have a bowl of that later on.

So far I’m happy at how straightfoward the fast days have been. I hope today continues to go well and next FDs are good too. Going to scroll up and read everyone’s posts now.

Good luck for day 4 everyone. May the Fourth be with you! 😆😂

    Day 4 Croatia NFD
    Weight:78.8 kg

    Day 4 Tas Australia FD

Second day of b2b and feeling fantastic! Was feeling a little dizzy for a few minutes this morning and was worried that maybe I’ve done too much fasting this week after not for the last month. But felt better after a drink and have been to pilates and run around everywhere this morning and feeling great. It’s almost 3pm and yet to eat. Will do all the crazy after school run arounds then will have a light dinner again like last night. Will be ready to eat more tomorrow. But happy with the results so far, feel like I have gotten rid of the bread bloat from last week and have made a great start to getting back to maintenance. It was good to start out strong while I have the motivation, and willpower.

Good luck everyone, it really is so much better having the support here.

    Day4, Germany, FD

The plan is 800 cal but I think I will eat less because yesterday I had some HIIT after my usual exercise.

@liliymartin I like the article u read about Greek diet with lots of carbs. That’s super fancy 😀 However, for me it would be a weight gaining diet 😀

    @songbirdme Happy belated birthday

@sirisan I hope u do feel better today. My carb craving is mostly due to low feeling. So always in this situation I TRY to check myself : how tired I am, how sad or happy I am and etc… Then I try to feed my feeling rather than my body. I mean if I am tired or sick I rest a bit. If I have bad feeling I meditate or try some mirror talking or writing to pour out my feeling safely. Because I know eating carbs in that situation would be a trigger for me to eat all the long.

    Day 4 UK NFD 🌈

@pissupoosa please correct yesterday’s FD to NFD.

SELF SABOTAGE, hurled myself off that wagon and did not stop eating yesterday!!!!! Knew it, didn’t stop until I made myself feel really heavy and ill. Not a good sleep up since 3am feeling like rubbish. Note to self how I regret the comfort eating now!

I had a heavy and busy day at work filled with time consuming annoying jobs, computer wasn’t working well, neither was I after a 12 hour shift, I had it all done -yay! However I had ate my way through it. When stressed to hit a deadline I like to crunch! Crisps are good for that, then I crave sweets, then I came home and continued. Hardly any water even though 6 bottles are sitting next to my desk, and one is on it.

So my friends feel rubbish today, tired and heavy, and lesson learned. HYDRATE is my word of the day, flush the system with water, that should make me feel better.

Just thought I’d share so maybe help others. You all have a better day than I did yesterday, I intend to!!! 😁

    Day 4 / UK / NFD (CD?)

Yesterday was more of a CD after all to be honest (though I mean how controlled can it have been when it was set out to be an FD but slipped away?). I don’t think B2B suits me at this point in my life unless there is an incentive of a weekend away or so. Walking past snacks in the office is so much harder when you think “ah, can never have them” (when all my weekdays are attempted (!) FDs now) rather than “will have that tomorrow.” I’ll resume AFDs now (optional on the weekends), with or without my indulgent breakfast we’ll see.

    Day 4 UK NFD
Current 133 looking to get to 126 and then review.
I have found I do enjoy a detailed plan with no options, as if I leave it loose then I am really good at bending it and tweeting until it’s no where near where it needs to be.
All the best to you all

    Day 4 | London | NFD

Had a good day NFD day yesterday. I’m going to my mum’s tonight for our Thursday night steak dinner. I’m hoping that will set me up for FD tomorrow.

I will be away for a long weekend Saturday- Tuesday; any tips on how to keep mindful would be appreciated. Wednesday will be a FD.

    Good luck today folks.

    Day 4 – Staffordshire UK-FD

Glorious day here and feeling positive about today’s Fast Day.

Day 4 Newcastle UK NFD (controlled NFD hopefully😇)
Is weigh day Monday for the April challenge?
Blue sky sunny day here in Newcastle bloody freezing though ❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄
Have a great controlled day everyone.

    Day 4 Belfast NFD
The scales seem to be shifting downwards. I usually weigh on Saturdays but I shall leave it this week till Monday.
@lilymartin my hula hoop is sitting on the spare room floor taunting me. I can’t get past 7, despite looking at YouTube for hints!
    Have a good day everyone!

    Day 4: Northumberland, UK: NFD
Nice morning here, lots of bird noise outside my window as I try to get my head into work, but our sunny skies have clouded over and that breeze is still freezing….. being half way across the country never sure if we’ll get Cumbria’s weather or Newcastle’s or something altogether different to both.
Another good FD yesterday, 550 calories or there about but as Tuesday was around 400 I’m not going to worry about the extra 50. And the scales were kind this morning too.
Still feeling good this morning, so not going to break my fast until I’m actually hungry. In the meantime I have a nice cup of decaf cinammon coffee, black, and plenty of water.

    Day 4 – UK – NFD

    Day 4 UK NFD
Good walk with the dogs before breakfast. Another trip out with them this evening should see me bag 10,000 steps today as well.

Day 4, Hampshire UK – NFD

Revised plan for this week! Life has got in the way (well, work has got in the way actually!)

So I won’t be doing a FD tomo as I will be in London for work – lunch with clients and then dinner (and wine!) with friends! So only one FD this week. Shame as I always find 2nd FD much easier than the first one of the week.

    Plan for next week:

    Mon 8th – FD
    Tues 9 – NFD
    Wed 10 – FD
    11th & 12th – NFD

    @cmg09
    @skinnylove
    @lynzm

Just reading your posts, I have a plea! People – remember to give yourself credit for all your hard work & commitment to this plan. Fasting isn’t easy and even if you have a “bad” FD or a “bad” NFD, it really doesn’t matter.

This is because 5:2 is a WOL and “bad” days will come out in the wash if you think of 5:2 as a long-term WOL and not a diet! I don’t want to sound like a self-help book (haha) but I believe you can really enjoy life more on the 5:2 and get great results too!

Have a great day today everyone :o)

    Day 4 – FIN – FD

Yesterday’s eating was really bad in terms of quality. It started nicely with those two buns of fresh homebaked bread (topped with butter, cheese, turkey cold cuts and cucumber slices – what I consider to be my unhealthiest breakfast option), but then, an hour later, I had one more and ended up snacking throughout the day (more bread, 10-12 squares chocolate, some roasted and salted fruit & nut mix I found on the table). Dinner was ok (chicken breast, quinoa, fried and fresh vegetables), but by then the damage had already been done. Not enough water or vegs either.

I hate it when FDs feel like emergency damage control, but if that’s all I get for now, I’ll take it. Thinking of maybe doing my favorite tomato soup today.

    Day 4 – UK – FD

Not feeling the love for a FD today. Need to keep myself busy. Heading off for a gym class soon so hopefully some endorphins will show up. Some sunshine would be good too.

    DAY 3 – UK – FD

Trying another fd to-day (but might be up to 800 cals) as I had terrible headaches again yesterday – drank loads of water, but still there despite that. I thought I had cracked the headache lark, so it was a nasty surprise. Anyway scales showed a lb. lighter this morning so it was worth it!!!!

Have a lovely weekend @debster251 – we are off to Cornwall on Sunday for a week, N.I.
at end of month (half term). As we are driving and self-catering in Cornwall I have decided to take my scales with me – (“how sad is that”, I hear some people say)…but I can’t risk putting on lbs. in the week, only to have to struggle to get them off the following week, and then away again soon after, I am determined to lose a couple of lbs this month, rather than maintaining again!!!
Cornish Pasties, fish and chips and Ice-cream beckon..I have to have all three when I am on hols. in Cornwall – part of my DNA and “culcher” !!!!! so it won’t be easy….

    Day 4 Notts UK BSD

Just checking in, pictures this morning with my friend. Sun is shining although a little chilly. Have a good day everyone.

OOOPS!! Sorry don’t know what happened there (2 posts) tried to Edit!!!

Day 4 UK FD -added myself to what I hope is today’s pocket list

@pissupoosa – hope you’re enjoying Leeds it’s my home town and I’m impressed with what they’ve done recently

@ciren2 – I think you are putting yourself under way too much pressure I’m sure you’ll find your way back but maybe have a couple of days break and start fasting again when you feel ready Stay strong ❤️
@songbirdme Hope you had a great birthday

@steve toon taxi driver – I know ,who knew a sugar free jelly would taste so good !

    Day 4. UK. FD.

I always find second fast more tough. Am at work surrounded by drinks!!!

Day 4, London, UK, FD (3rd of B2B2B)

@Strawberriesandcream……………..Happy Birthday!!!! Cruising towards the sunset, I’m guessing you’re having a lovely Wifi-free time and Fasting is the last thing on your mind!!! Have a great day!!!!

Still fighting the cold, lack of appetite means this should be an OK FD after the last 2. @coda, thanks for the tip, I’ll try to get hold of some Echinacea today; and yes I am a JV fan, I’ve done a couple of juice fasts……………… weight loss, mental clarity, less anxiety and great nights’ sleep. I just need to incorporate a 3-5 day juice fast with this WOL, because last time I just went back to bad habits!!!! Maybe once every 3-4 months would be good.

@steve toon taxi driver………………………THAT my friend, is what I lovingly refer to as ‘Releasing the dragon’, until I get some more control, I have to be very careful of WHEN and WHERE I release him……………… so 9 a.m. is a definite no-no, otherwise the whole day would be a continuous face stuffing/ guilt cycle!!! In the middle of the bread/cake/biscuit aisle would simply lead to carnage………………… I picture myself sitting cross-legged in the middle of the supermarket surrounded by empty packaging!!!! I’m still trying to train my brain!!
What’s life without jelly & ice cream…………. Even on a FD??????????!!!!!!

@lynzm……………… been there, done that, bought the cake!!!!!! I’ve had 2 ‘about to POP’ days in the last couple of months. I couldn’t believe how my stomach has shrunk……………. So I tested it by stuffing huge amounts of food (carbs) into it and had 2 of the worst nights’ sleep in my life (not too proud to admit to tears) I wouldn’t even say discomfort, it was PAIN!!! Self-inflicted, self-sabotage, self-loathing!!! Lesson learnt, you should write down how you felt before, during and after the face-stuffing and re-read it as you head for the 2nd portion etc. …………..or just re-read your post today!!!

@pashaw, I’m not sure if you’re here, but I hope you and your OH are doing well and the test results were as hoped for.

Good luck everyone, and keep the faith…………..we HAVE got this!!!!!!

    Day 4 UK NFD

    UK Day 4 FD

Yesterday was busy, busy. Gym session at lunch and a swim class in the evening, followed by wardrobe shifting – a different form of exercise!

So with all that and work, I didn’t get to eat until late and dived into the local supermarket for a half-decent curry + nan bread – all just over 600kcal. But, spotted the Scotch Eggs on my way out, so another 230kcal – which wasn’t great, but not the end of the world, I think.

Anyway, 20 mins on my rower this morning has more than undone this FD ‘blip’.

Fasting again today and looking forward to my salad Nicoise later, after the local park Boot Camp with a friend!

My wife thinks I’m now OK and need to stop all this nonsense. She thinks I’m obsessed, shouldn’t be fasting every day. I am a little obsessed, but I’m not quite at a healthy weight/BMI/Fat %, etc. And I could do with support not people telling me to stop! Thanks to this group for that encouragement.

Feeling good folks. So much more energy without so much food. Burn Baby Burn (Disco Inferno) 🙂

    Day 4, Belfast, FD

I hope to have a busy day today to keep my mind off fasting. Dinner’s more or less sorted, Hairy Dieters parmesan roast cod fillet, wrapped in parma ham on a bed of roast med veg. That and some steamed broccoli should come in at under 300kcals.Yum!Is it not torture to talk about food on this forum lol!

I’ve had a wee bit of time on my hands so have added myself and the remaining Day 4 fasters to the Pocketeers list. Hope I got everyone in.

    Day 4 – UK – FD

Happy to say I am on my 3rd FD of the week, I wish I could bottle up my motivation and keep it for when I am sure to need it in the coming weeks. Scales are looking good too!

My typical FD menus so far are:

I take a Berocca boost first thing in the morning along with 2 cups of tea and this seems to give me the energy needed to go to pilates or yoga or a walk. Then I have oat bran porridge made with water for lunch. This gets me through until dinner time which so far has been Chicken breast with lots of salad and homemade coleslaw or different types of omelettes. Lots of cups of tea.

Adding myself to the team spirit of the pocketeers:

    Day 4…..Florida….. NFD

It’s going to be a long day today. First, I’m working a half day, then coming home to finish packing and getting the house in ordet and finally hopping on the red eye for the flight to NY.
I won’t be weighing in this week due to being out of town but my plans are not to go over board in the food department. my goal is not to gain any weight, Just at least stay at 140lbs, my starting May weight.

My prayers to those living in Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana and the Ozarks areas! Please stay safe. You are more important that any nonlivng structure, paper or item. So, let Mother Nature have them and get to higher ground if that’s what it takes to keep you alive!

Unfortunately, I do not watch the Simpsons, so the reference is above me. I’m not a tv watcher and if I do I watch Hulu and avoid all the commercials. The only reason, I watch the news is because that is what is on the TVs at work.

Well, I’m off to start my long ass day. I will touch base as soon as I can since I won’t have internet access!

Chin up Princess….. your crown is slipping!

    Hi everyone,

Day 4, Houston USA, FD (want to try B3B)

Recap of Day 3 (2nd FD of the week):

    Breakfast:
    – Hard-boiled egg (1)
    – Black Coffee (1 cup)

    Lunch:
    – Whole wheat tortilla wrap with tuna (1/2 tin), cherry tomatoes (4), and some greens
    – Black Coffee (1 cup)

    Dinner:
    – Greek Yoghurt (1/2 of 100-gr cup) with drizzle of honey
    – Lindt Dark Chocolate (1 square)

    Throughout the day:
    – Water (2 litres) with lemon juice of 1 lemon
    – Chinese Tea (6 cups)

I have been studying at home for exam on Friday, and since I have not done any grocery shopping hence there is no temptation of snacks or sweets, ha.

Luckily no more headache on 2nd FD, I guess my body is getting used to it.
Busy studying so no exercise yet.

Been drinking this Chinese tea given by my friend and loving it. It tastes like mix of black tea and green tea, hence not too bitter.

Will try to do FD again today, see how this goes.

    Day 4 NFD Portugal

Good FD yesterday, perhaps over by 100 calories but I am quite content with the effort. Enjoying the ADF as it helps so much on a FD that I can eat the next day. Walked about 10 k yesterday and today I did 30 mins cardio/HIIT with fitness blender. On my NFDs I still miss breakfast but I have a healthy lunch and a dinner. My biggest challenge on NFDs is snacks, chocolate etc but I am on day 4 of a 21 day fast from snacks etc. with my OH. Extra accountability helps A LOT.

    Day 4 Maine FD

Good morning all – another sunny day! Yay! Short lived, tho – major rain moving in for the next few days. Hope our Missouri fasters are safe – flooding looks horrible in your area.

Not a bad NFD yesterday – stayed at TDEE. Have decided to do B2B FD today & tomorrow. Want to jumpstart a good loss.

Back to work today – days off go by so quickly. Will do my therapy walk after work.

    @bert1802 – safe travels – have a productive trip!

@jmh44 – simple is best when traveling. Stick to big salads, stir frys & fish. Don’t stress – just try to be mindful & drink your water!

Make it a super day everybody!

Day 2, Mountaintop PA, NFD New low weight 149.2!
    Day 3, Mountaintop PA, NFD
    Day 4, Mountaintop PA, FD

Was thrilled with a new low weight of 149.2 after my Monday FD. First time in the 140’s since forever. LOL. Probably in my 20’s.

My NFD’s are not much different than the FDs. We eat a reasonable dinner or chicken or fish with broccoli, beans or Brussels sprouts and a small sweet potato. FD dinner is a large dinner salad with colored peppers, onion, walnuts, 3 oz protein topped with Feta cheese and Balsamic vineger and olive oil. Filling and only about 300 calories.

My FDs are usually closer to 800, which works for slow steady progress of 1.5 to 2 lbs per month.

Will take my 4 mile hike today and breath in the fresh spring mountain air. Watching the changes in the vegetation and hearing the chirping birds each day is positive.

    day 4 UK FD

posting quickly while the internet is on, it is being such a pain:((

I feel so much better while fasting! 189.8 this morning, a bounce up but still under 190:)

Way to go @allie123 the fast days get easier as your body gets used to it. I used to have the worst headaches on my fast days, not anymore.
