  • Day 10, Germany, NFD

    @songbirdme take care xxx

    @coda thank you for the great post and the good advice you always give us

    @pissupoosa I agree with the others, just keep the spreadsheet simple. We know when we did our FD or NFD. I don’t really need to be on a spreadsheet, I’m here for accountability.

    Day 10 US 3rd FD b5b
    FD is going great, it is still early 8:00 am here though😅. I drank so much water yesterday I had to get up 3 times last night to pee. I’m drinking more water today, 3L , because I found weight comes off when I do. If I don’t drink the water the weight doesn’t come off.
    ✨Thank-you @coda for your supporting words. I’m having to face my fear (PTSD) of making a dentist/ orthodontist appointment today. So your positive thoughts and compliment are very empowering for me today!
    I agree with @coda : @paulmarsh I too wish you well knowing what is safe for you in respect to your height to weight ratio. We want you to be healthy and well.
    @coda Thank-you ✨for sharing your wonderful counsel; so much helpful and beneficial information on coping, planning and persevering.✨
    @steve-toon-taxi-driver You are doing awesome! Keep being healthy! ✨What is your height? Maybe checking into your height to weight ratio would be helpful and informative for you and your wife.
    @endellion ✨Good for you!✨You got this!✨
    @keetseel ✨I can relate with that feeling after my 4 th water FD in a row; an avocado never tasted so good! It tasted heavenly!
    @happymargo Wishing you well, hoping working at the hospital and this Way of Life; WOL goes well for you.✨

    ✨While working to attain your goal, don’t forget to pause and celebrate the little victories along the way!✨

    Day 10 USA FD

    @bert1802 — wow – what a tale from your cabin excursion and all!

    Day 10 Chicago, Illinois USA – NFD

    Day10, Germany, NFD

    Day 10 (can you believe we are about halfway through May?) USA, Missouri Ozarks, FD

    Today’s weight 142.4, below goal weight of 145.

    Feeling great, funny story – last night after work my husband said “Do you want to eat out tonight?” Words many would love to hear but I said, Uh, I truly appreciate the offer but I am craving one of my big dinner plate sized salads loaded with beautiful healthy greens, glazed walnuts, cranberries, chopped boiled egg, radishes, cucumber, tomatoes, avocado, shredded cheese, sliced black olives, etc. etc. etc. (and yes I said etc. etc. etc. ) topped with good olive oil and red wine pomegranate vinegar. He just grinned and said, Hey sounds good – make me one, too. By the time I had the salads made, I was so anxious to eat it that my hands were almost shaking. I guess salad is my crack cocaine !

    It was wonderful. I just have such a problem eating out and being offered a “salad” of shredded iceberg lettuce topped with a cherry tomato.

    Wishing all well, and we are thinking of you and yours today, SongBirdMe.

    Happy Margo, so true about the meetings here being the absolute best! (and you can’t beat the price).

    Edzeko, each day I lock the office at noon and do countertop pushups, chair tricep dips and stretching band exercises (have great ones that slip over the top of a door, you close it and you can do lots and lots – they then roll up and can go in a workbag or drawer or whatever. They are lime green fabric with elastic at the end that one can put their hands through to do floor exercise – very, very strong. Not the rubbery stretchy therapy things. I got them on Amazon.)

    Day 10 – MT USA – FD

    I’m reading everyone’s posts to keep me motivated. This is my fifth week of fasting and it has been super hard for some reason this week and the scale is not cooperating. I have a plan for today, just need to stick with it.

    Oops, meant to say about a third of the way through the month of May…..

    Day 10 – USA – FD

    Day 10 UK FD
    Gorgeous sunny day today, doesn’t it make a real difference to how we feel.

    @pissupoosa I agree with the others re the spreadsheet. I’d be happy with something really simple. I like to post most days to keep me motivated. The spreadsheet is a real bonus. @coda that’s a really good blog post- just need to keep keeping on.

    This week is going ok, scales showed a 1lb loss today – yey. However, finished work early and went for coffee with my OH. There’s a new coffee shop opened nearby. Well there were 2 ice cream vans in the car park with a queue a mile long and in the shop they were giving away free cake samples. Great! Obviously I didn’t want to look rude or ungrateful so I said yes to half a muffin! Thankfully I only had soup planned for tonight so I’ll be over 500 cals and closer to 700 it could have been worse, one of the girls then came round with a tray of the blooming things – managed to avoid that temptation by not catching her eye!

    Day 10 Portugal FD
    Struggling a bit today after a bad night of sleep. Also as I swapped yesterday’s FD for today, I think my mind is not in a good place and having another FD tomorrow doesn’t help. Anyway have eaten almost nothing today so far and looking forward to dinner which still seems a long way off.
    @at I’m also 5ft4 and my lowest ever weight was 55kg (about 15-20 years ago) … I would be happy to reach 57 kg, though. It is possible, thanks for the encouragement. Still hoping to get into the 59s very soon.

    Day 10, Hampshire UK, NFD

    FD tomorrow!

    Day 10 NFD st Louis USA
    Weight today 139.2 lbs! Haven’t been under 140 for quite a while. Was pleased and surprised as I generally don’t find I’ve lost any weight on the second day of my back to back it usually shows up on Friday after my Thursday fast day.

    @okeydokey I guess you know what you’re talking about here. Thanks for the encouragement as it was nice to see those pounds drop off. I realize I need to keep working to maintain it. Only have another 3 pounds to lose to meet my goal. Looking forward to maintenance.

    @songbirdme thinking of you.

    @Pissapoosa thanks for what you’re doing. Keep it simple and make it work for you.

    Day 10 – FD – Toronto

    Halfway through my second FD of the week and all is well. Dinner with my MIL last night was delicious but possibly put me over my TDEE so I am guessing that this week’s FDs are going to be about resetting rather than losing. Congratulations to all who have lost some more this week. Goal for today is to stay under my allotted 500 cals. Have had half a cup of coffee so far and no hunger pangs yet 🙂

    @sirisan that’s awesome about entering the 130s, I know exactly what you mean about dropping under a threshold that you haven’t seen in a while – you must feel awesome!

    Day 10
    UK
    NFD

    Wisconsin, USA Day 10. FD

    Was supposed to NFD…but decided to take advantage of the fact that fasting is less difficult than it used to be, and plan to fast 3X this week.

    Day 9 & 10 NFD. Happy fasting and nfd to you all. I’m having some trouble finding this thread and I usually spend a lot of time trying to find this thread. I stopped subscribing to the emails because my mailbox was getting overwhelmingly full, can someone recommend a quick way to access this thread? It’s already saved to my favorites but not sure how to access that
    Thanks.

    Day 10 – SW WA USA – FD

    I’m taking one day at a time. So far Monday was a liquid only FD, Tuesday an 800 FD, & today will be a 500 FD. My goal is to take off the damage I did on the weekend again, and then hopefully be more mindful on NFDs so I don’t go through the damage cycle again. As some have mentioned before, FDs seem easier for me to control than NFDs. I want to change that.

    @steve toon taxi driver – congrats on your successful B2B FDs. Question – has your wife seen some of the fasting research? Perhaps her concern is because she doesn’t have the information you have. Maybe reading some of Dr. Mosley’s book or watching his BBC Youtube video (about 50 + minutes) might help take away some of her concern.

    @jarbia – what’s a bacon buttie? Sounds interesting. Enjoy your holiday!

    Day 10 – Cumbria UK – FD 500cal

    Another beautiful spring day in Cumbria – My 3rd Yoga class this week Monday and Tuesday evening and then this morning – working hard this week after last week’s restorative class but loving it.

    A lovey afternoon volunteering – we had a Massage Therapist come give a talk and demonstration to our group of elderly ladies and gentlemen – they thoroughly enjoyed it as did the volunteers ☺️

    Today is my 3rd FD in a row – Day 8 = under 300, Day9 = under 800 and Day 10 = 500 – Feeling good! Hoping to give myself a flex of 2/3 lbs under target weight before I go away next week to visit friends in the south – envisaging a fair bit of socialising……

    @fivetwofan5252 – At the end of the April Challenge a few of us were talking about our weakness for a glass or two of wine and how we manage to incorporate it into this WOL then @onahealthyhigh suggested:- “@brightonbelle and @songbirdme and @at perhaps we need a supportive pocketeers list on the days we’d like to enjoy only a glass or two of wine?” and there it is – @bert1802 joined us as an honorary member with her cups of coffee…….
    @goldensun – those special offers in the shops are lethal……totally agree 😈
    @paulmarsh – as others have said – be careful you don’t overdo things – be safe
    @coda – thank you for the very motivational posts – some great advice and reminders 🤗
    @pissupoosa – totally agree with @coda and others – PLEASE don’t worry about updating the spread sheet with details of FD and NFD – just keep it simple! I followed on from my predecessor and carried on with the spreadsheet as I am a bit nerdy about them and love myself a good one (a bit weird I know…..LOL) BUT it was hard work staying on top of it and I am retired………..
    @bert1802 – lovely to hear from you again – hope the visit was good/useful even though you had to move yourself away for your own sanity – hugs
    @happymargo – your stories about your manager calling you to pick up extra shifts brought back memories of my working life in a hospital……….Much as it is important to support colleagues it is also vital to look after yourself and sometimes we need to learn that little word “NO” – it was lesson I unfortunately learnt a bit late in my working life……..
    @lindasue – your salad sounded delicious and would suit both my OH and I down to a T – although OH would prefer low salt tin of sardines to the eggs and cheese – I’m partial to eggs – he’s not!
    @basyjames – just click on Forum at the top of the Home Page – then click on Recent Posts – then just scroll down until you find someone’s post on this Challenge and click on the heading May 2017 31-Day Challenge (1st Anniversary!) and it opens up the whole thing – hope that helps

    As I sit typing here I’m enjoying the beautiful sunny evening and counting my blessings, thinking how lucky I am to have my health and to live in such a beautiful part of the world and also how fortunate to have discovered this WOL and the support provided on these challenges inaugurated by @coda in May 2016! Thank you @coda 💐

    Some very good weight loss taking place – stay strong and positive

    If you are struggling know that you are not alone – read some of the posts on here for inspiration and don’t berate yourself for having an off day or two – “Weight loss is like driving: If you ever veer off the road, just make a U-Turn and head back in the right direction”

    Day 10–MA, USA–FD. I’m struggling today and re-reading posts to strengthen my resolve. It does help to see others go through rough patches and persevere. I still have my goal in mind to lose about 10 lbs, but today I just really don’t feel very strong in my resolve. I know I feel good about myself when I have a successful fast day, and I know I will feel good about myself if I see the scale moving in the right direction, but all of that requires dedication and determination now. It’s chilly and gray out, and I keep having the urge to just throw in the towel. It’s still early here…feel like it’s going to be a challenging rest of the day.

    Pissupoosa: I would NEVER be able to even DO a spreadsheet…..so all admiration that you even TRY! xx

    Day 10 – West Mids, UK – NFD

    Still motivated !

    Day 10 FD Pacific Northwest

    4:3 Fasting M-W-F

    Why are the last five pounds so hard!?

    Sticking to it, just returned from HIIT, lots of water today!

    @at thank you, that helped.

    Day 10–Albuquerque, NM–NFD

    Does anyone have problems with insomnia, whether from fasting or otherwise? I’m getting insomnia again. Grrr. Now along with looping (negative) thoughts about work I’m really hungry and can’t get back to sleep. Aside from the obvious medical intervention, has anyone tried something that works?

    Day 10 UK NFD 🌈

    Not feeling good, meant to be a FD but wasn’t in the mood, now feel worse, stressed, missed lunch, only biscuits and sweets to eat – no planning.

    Drawing a line ————- tomorrow will be an FD and I will go to the gym, and I will drink more water.
    Being tough with myself as one day rolls into the next otherwise, made a plan, gotta remember it and stick with it.

    Day 11 to 31 will be successful and planned. 😁

    Day 10 | FD | UK

    Day 10, 2nd post,

    Aaaawhh, I love how international and diverse we are, Loved @annemarilyn asking @jarbia – “what’s a bacon buttie? Sounds interesting” if you only knew!!!!! – Bacon sandwich anyone???? – I like mine made with thick crusty (white – I know, I know) bread, lashings of butter, not too crispy bacon and ketchup……….. don’t judge me if you’re a brown sauce aficionado!!!!

    @keetseel, this is my post from March 16th in response to @okeydokeys question,…….

    “@okeydokey……I spritz magnesium oil on the soles of my feet (apparently bigger pores so better absorption – who knew??) before bed and I wake up in the exact position I fell asleep in, refreshed & wide awake. Have a look at the benefits of magnesium oil, it really is a ‘miracle oil’ – I buy the flakes and make my own. It cured my mums painful oedema in a couple of weeks…….. water tablets on prescription binned!!!”

    This is the recipe I use,

    https://wellnessmama.com/5804/make-your-own-magnesium-oil/

    …………………………..I SWEAR by IT!!!!!!!

    @lynzm, further to this past weekend which will never be revisited, I’ve planned my meals – FDs or NFDs – down to the last calorie on MFP, just to take the pressure off and to keep myself accountable………….Plan, Plan, Plan!!!! This won’t be the norm, I just need military precision right now!

    Another FD tomorrow, I think……………I’m on a roll!!!!!!!!!!!

    @flourbaby .. for me its brown sauce on bacon / ketchup on sausage sandwich, i shouldn’t be thinking about these on a fast day, especially as I am about to write how I am finding fast days easier to manage; compared with NFD ! Still, I am sticking with it, as I adapt to this new way of life.

    I’ll pass on all the sauce – just add another rasher of bacon instead please 👍

    Keetseel for insomnia try going to the same routine every evening. Such taking a shower or bath, washing your teeth, praying, watching some tv or iPad reading these posts and then go to sleep. about the same time every night. It really works as that’s all I do and I rarely suffer from insomnia now. Another thing refrain From having any coffee after 1.00 pm.

    Good luck.

    @lindasue That salad sounds fantastic! Appropo of iceberg lettuce…I got a retweet yesterday to the effect that it’s so devoid of nutrients that veterinarians do not even recommend feeding it to your rabbit. I suppose if you were very dehydrated the ib lettuce wedge and half cherry tomato would help but let’s hope it never comes to that!

    @flourbaby I did have a little trouble getting accustomed to the English diet when I lived there (10 months) but never had a problem with the generous use of BUTTER. And ‘lashings’ of butter? Yep, I’d go there. ALSO–thank you for the insomnia cure–I will try it tonight!

    Day 10 US 3rd of b5b
    I made an appointment with the dentist for tomorrow. I’m such a “fraidy” cat. Please send prayers, good wishes and/or vibes if you can. I have PTSD because when I was young, a doctor put a cover over my face accept for my mouth, had 3 other people hold me down while I screamed and tried to get up. While she stitched my gums and lip (without any kind of pain killer or novocaine or anesthesia, truly barbaric) after I was hit with a sharp object by accident. It’s the first appt. in probably a lot of appointments with dentist and orthodontist for dental surgery. Of course I will put off some of it until our travel in June is over.

    On a brighter note; I’m drinking the 3L of water in hopes it helps in losing weight. 😀😊✨🤞
    @bert1802 Sounds like quite an adventure✨Glad you came back to us in one piece.😀😊✨
    @sirisan ✨Congratulations to You!🎉✨✨✨

    Day 10 Belfast NFD
    This insomnia must be catching! I usually don’t have a problem getting to sleep. The last two nights, I woke at 5am and 3.30 am this morning so I’m a little tired.
    Pissupoosa I’m just grateful to post here. I agree with all the other posts, simple is best. Don’t stress about it.
    Before I go, can I admit….. I don’t like bacon!
    Night night

    Huh? You either like bacon, or you are wrong 😉

    Day 10 – USA – FD

    @Keetsel, I have been having problems getting to sleep, restless legs, getting up at 3am, not being able to go back to sleep, itching, etc. I am doing LCHF (low carb, healthy fat) and from my research, the lower the carbs and the more water you drink, the more electrolytes you lose via urination (magnesium, potassium and I forget the other one)….someone help?! I took the advice of taking a magnesium supplement, an over-the-counter magnesium nitrate each night before bed. I took ONE pill (the bottle recommends two a day) and I slept like an infant! My OH said I snored ALL NIGHT! (That’s actually a compliment, lol) No restless legs; no itching or twitching. Hope this helps!

    Day 10 US 3rd FD of b5b
    I’m lucky and grateful that @fordprefect is going with me to the dentist tomorrow.
    @keetseel I have used the magnesium spray that @flourbaby told me about and am truly grateful because it works. ✨
    Because this can be a common issue for some fasters I’m sharing a post of I other things sometimes in unison that have worked. I hope any or some of these are helpful for you. The insomnia does start to go away after maybe a month or 2 it seemed to lessen for me. Here’s an answer to;
    @moppet : SLEEP by Neuro was recommended to me as well as warm lemon 🍋 water with stevia before bed, that and the magnesium spray together helps me. I think the cause might just be we might be more in an aware or alert state when we Fast. I had a terrible time 😴 sleeping until I tried these. On a side note I also take L ornithine an Amino acid that helps to sleep. Try a couple of these things until you find what’s right for you!😊

    Day 10 / UK / NFD
    Day 11 / UK / NFD

    I am glad that I didn’t check in this morning as I would have designated today as FD when it turned out not to be. At first I needed a coffee halfway through the afternoon to pick up my head from my desk and then I went to the pub with a friend who needed to talk and work through her recent break-up. I think what actually sent me over the edge was her saying “you look fantastic, you look like you can have whatever you want.” I am just so vain. It’s a shame really: this morning the scales showed 62.0kg uh-gain but I just knew that if I could just make it through today okay, I would hit into the 61kg tomorrow. This feeling of lightness when you can tell the body is fiiinally eating into those fat resources it usually keeps safely stored away on my love handles… I feel like I still deserve it but physically my stomach is so cheerfully taking those chips apart that really I don’t think it’s going to happen. Tomorrow is another NFD, so Friday will have to bring it this week.

    @skinnylove It’s difficult when our friends and family don’t understand. It’s not easy when they don’t support our decisions. I would try to take it as a compliment, after all she did say you look great!✨

    @okeydokey.
    My hight is 6ft 1.5″ bmi at present is 25.6 so just on the overweight side.
    The wife has been dieting successfully for years but has lots of food allergies gluten and citrus intolerance. Don’t think she could do the fasting as she gets a lot of stomach pains. I on the other hand can eat anything and love all foods.
    @annemarilyn. The wife’s done weight watchers for years and just thinks the 5/2 IS a bit extreme but I love it and it’s working fine for me. I feel well and very fit. Hope the health benefit are true if not I’d still keep at it as it’s easy to follow and flexible.
    😁😁😁😁

    London | Day 10 | NFD

    It was a successful FD yesterday. fast
    Kept to my water-fast (it’s been a while since I did a proper one of those)

    This morning I did a HIIT TRX class before breakfast. Wasn’t sure how I much energy I’d have, not having eaten anything for ~36hrs, but I was fine. I wasn’t very hungry until I got to work at 830.

    I’ll be doing the same class on Friday morning and that would be after tomorrow’s liquid-only fast.

    ————————————————–

    @sunshineaus (apologies, this reply is coming a little late)
    On your about exercising on FDs – I often used to do this without any ill effects. I’d go to a gym class in the morning then fast for the rest of the day. But since I started doing water-only fasts, I tend to exercise on my non-fast days now.
    Saying that, today I did exercise pre-breakfast after a ~36h fast and I was fine. So, I guess it’s a matter of trying out what works for you.

    Also a word of caution about exercising for weigh loss – if you’re doing 5:2 and exercising expecting fast weight loss, then you might be disappointed. There was a post written by @simcoeluv about this, which is worth reading:
    https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/exercise-is-dangerous-for-your-diet/
    The reason for slowed weight loss is a combination of increased hunger, a degree of water retention and increased muscle (which weighs more than fat).

    As was updating the spreadsheet I noticed quite a few fasters aiming to drink 3L p/d – is this a new thing? 3L of water p/d is a LOT! I’m not sure it’s necessary. Am I missing something? Aiming for 2L of ‘fluid’ (including tea, coffee, other food sources containing water), I can understand but not sure about 3L of water p/d… happy to be enlightened on this, thanks.

    @bert1802 – love your denim skirt experience and the goal. Also, love your sense of humour 🙂

    @slogan15, @lola907 – The ideal way to do 5:2 is to keep the ‘fasting period’ as long as you can – so that it keeps the insulin suppressed.
    Hence Dr Mosley’s method of splitting the 500cals over breakfast and dinner (250x 2) keeping gap between meals as long as possible.
    Hope that helps…

    @arvandee Happy belated Anniversary!

    @songbirdme Happy Belated birthday!

    @Schatzii great news about being able to progress with your thesis. All the best with finishing it.

    @scs – I can relate to your ‘avalanche of hunger dragons’! That’s why I try and keep FDs calorie free. If I eat anything continuing even a trace of sugar, I succumb.

    Welcome @missymoomoo @feast12 @rhubarb did I miss anyone else?

    Guys and girls please put the date as day-number (e.g. 1st May is day-1 and 5th May is day-5 etc), not counting from the day you started the challenge. It’s easier for me to keep track on the spreadsheet – thanks

    @okeydokey – great spread sheet for April. So many targets met 🙂 Great work okeydokey and everyone who took part!

    @JonnyR – about your weight loss journey: how did you come out of the Ester plateau? or did you? I would like to know. I’m going through a bit of a ‘lack of motivation’ phase right now. So I’m learning from all of you.

    @annnursekirk – sorry to see you go. Hope you can join us again for another challenge – when you’re ready.

    @ciren2 – I’m feeling your pain and struggle my friend. As I read @coda’s advice on page 9, I realised how much I’m learning about my eating habits too – thanks for that Coda.
    Don’t beat your self up about it. Sometimes the best thing to do to get back on track is to start from the beginning – from a place where you remember feeling motivated and energetic. For me sometimes it’s read Dr Mosley’s or Dr Fung’s books.
    Hope you find the motivation to join us. Good luck and stay strong.

    @Strawbrriesandcream – happy belated birthday!

    @bigviking – my calorie-free drink of choice is sparkling water – plain and simple.
    Congratulations on you weight loss, you’re on a roll (or a whoosh!)!
    You’re right, we all get so much support and love through our 5:2 journey, it’s humbling 🙂

    @B2TF – good to have you back 🙂

    @Allie23 – hope your exam went well. Best wishes!

    @saffy420 – giant and tonic – sounds good!

    @pashaw – didn’t know about your husband (maybe from a previous forum I missed…?). With everything that you’ve got going on, it’s great you’re committing to this wol too. Very inspirational.
    I hope everything turns out for the best.

    @lilymartin – loved your rant on day 6 and the ‘where have all the calories gone’ song 😀
    We all need to have a bit of rant once a while. Please feel free

    @onahealthyhigh – sorry to hear about your OH’s struggle with insomnia – hope he’s recovered. It’s good that you still managed to make the most of your trip – the landscape sounds amazing!

    @lumat – it’s great that you are following 5:2 with a little baby 🙂 Hope you get some sleep

    @happymargo – glad you had a good camping/hiking trip. Sounds fun.

    @at @okeydokey thank you for the hugs and support

    @paulmarsh – this indeed is an active thread 🙂 That’s part of the challenge – daily check-ins and posts keep everyone accountable and supported.
    The phrase ‘pocket fasting’ isn’t really used for any particular type of fasting – only used to describe a group of people who form a sub-group within this forum to do a fast. It could be 1 or more days. People just join up as and when. Also any one can start pocketeer group/fast
    It’s just another way to keep accountable. @ciren2 coined the name ‘pocketeer’/pocket fast just because she kept all the names in her pocket to keep her motivated.

    @Chitowngal you haven’t missed it – I haven’t posted it but I will now.

    @coda and @okeydokey – thanks for the heads up on simplifying the sheet. I might start doing that as a few others also said they’re fine with that. I’m already up to day 8. I’ll be up to date by the end of the week. I have a little bit more free time these days too (with exam and conference done). AND now I’m up to date with reading the posts etc.
    Thanks for the support snowflake, Saffy420, AT, ciren2 and everyone 🙂

    So until tomorrow (which will be an FD if all goes well)
    Good night and good luck xx

    Second post

    Here’s the link to this month’s spreadhseet. I have changed the settings so that anyone with the link can access it. Please shout if you can access it:

    Day 10 Florida USA NFD We just got back from shopping for more fruit, vegetables, and lean meat. We tried the newest grocery store in town-Sprouts. Great produce and bulk foods departments. Not near our house though. Shopping and meal planning is so important to success in the 5/2. @pissupoosa I was able to access the spreadsheet. I need to buy a cloth tape measure as I have no idea of my measurements.
    Also find a neighbor who has a scale, as I suspended Y membership for the summer. Luck to all!

    Day 9 lancaster pa NFD
    Day 10 lancaster pa FD

    Day 10 – Maine – NFD

    Hi all – late checking in – pretty good NFD – great visit w/my bestie. 1 slice pizza last night, no alcohol, out to brunch today – took half a breakfast burrito home. Proud of that – wanted whole thing, but thought “I can have it later, if I want.” Not really hungry for dinner – might grab half of turkey sandwich or just make some tea. Kitchen closing soon, so have to make a decision.

    @songbirdme – thinking about you. Safe travels & hugs from your friends here. Btw, lived 14 yrs in Dallas & Uncle Julio’s my fave – loved the fresh tortilla’s & the frozen marguerita/sangria swirl….A couple of those might make you feel better!

    @coda – thank you – just the inspiration we all need!

    @fatrabbit – wow- you are doing great!

    @bert1802 – welcome back…big change of scenery for you – hope you accomplished what needed to be done & happy you found a stress free place to stay!

    Hope all had a satisfying day!

    Still day 10 –

    @okeydokey – prayers up as you head to the dentist tomorrow

    @debster251 – hmmm, don’t like bacon. Well, that’s okay. There’s more for the rest of us. 🙂

    @pissupoosa – about the 3 liters of water, I’m not sure who started it and then others got on the band wagon as it were. I have long heard that one should drink half one’s weight in ounces. For example, a 200 lb person should drink 100 oz of water. Recently, WebMD posted that now yes, even coffee & tea can be counted; not just water. They said yes, coffee is a diuretic but that doesn’t outweigh its hydrating benefit.

    I was able to access the spreadsheet. Great job!

    Day 11 ?NFD country West Australia 71.5 kgs
    STILL learning!!! Thought yesterday was well controlled and might qualify as an 800 calorie FD. Crunched the numbers and though I had eaten very little – orange, 1/2 pear, a small scone ( biscuit), 90 gms chicken with vegetables, a cup broth with carrot, 4 cups white tea/coffee and it came in at 1120 calories!!!!! So definitely a NFD but I seriously didn’t think it was a lot of food.
    Felt hungry late in the evening and told DH I was going to have some chocolate as it obviously wasn’t a FD and I might as well eat to TDEE.
    Come to bed , he suggested. Well, I thought ! Now there’s an invitation !!! Had a shower , got to bed and DH was asleep.
    Nudged him in the ribs and said ‘ I’ve come to bed as you suggested.’ He replied sleepily, ‘ yes , I always found it helpful when we did the 40 hour famine years ago. Going to bed stops you being able to pick at food!’ With that, he turned over and went back to sleep!!!
    So, I caught up on some reading – funnily, have Dr M’s book on my bedside table, so at least THAT was productive.
    Drinking a lot of fluid plus cold nights = extra efficient kidneys. Woke at 3 am, out of curiosity weighed on way back from bathroom – 72.1 kgs.

    Got up at 6.30 am, weighed and 71.5 kgs. So, obviously DH is right and I just need to stay in bed and sleep more to lose weight! I can cope with that.
    @okeydokey, will be thinking of you and holding your hand. Lots of slow deep breathing can help. Relaxation techniques also help me in the chair.
    @coda, great post . We sometimes need reminding not to stress too much.
    @happymargo, props to you fo all that work. But look after yourself. How are your feet holding up?
    Go well all.🙃
