  • Thanks hermajtomomi,
I assume theses recipes are for me not Cheeseplease. If not, I will pinch them anyway. I am really hyped to try these new foods although many of the recipes I have found need a vast array of ingredients not usually in my cupboard. Off to the shops again. πŸ™‚
Lovely day here may need to get out in the garden and Finnish doing my baskets. Bloody Mosquitos drove me in on Saturday.

That fish recipe may turn out to be dinner tonight. Looks yummy, thanks, Hermaj!

    Hi hermajtomomi,
Sorry I missed your request about my holiday. Yes I am staying in Cadiz on a yoga retreat. I have wanted to visit this area for years but was always too busy.
I decide to do the shopping on line because I wasn’t feeling strong enough( will power wise to risk the supermarket) Β£1.00 delivery but 2 lbs probably saving in having bough fattening foods.

Planting, finished, kitchen and bathroom cleaned, what’s next?

I am driving myself crazy with boredom at the moment, cutting out exercise for me is like cutting a leg off. The frustration levels are at an all time peak. Off to pull out some more hair and read my book in the garden.

Be good everyone. I need support, feeling really stressed, if only there were other fasters nearby! Three more days of rest, I am not going to make it ? Aaaarrrrgggghhh

Hi Cheeseplease : I think I was moaning because it was 26 degrees for a start and just carrying an extra 2 1/2 stone made things x 10 worse. When I’ve done hill climbing in the past I was so much thinner and fitter – mourning my old bod I think!!

I am determined this is going to be a good week for me (I was a bit naughty at the week-end) and I know nothing will change if I don’t change my bloomin eating habits.

JoJo : Nigel Slater’s receipe sounds lovely – I really like him, wish he was on the telly more. I have another 3 hours before I can eat so will go and do something to amuse myself. The pitfalls of working from home – I’m too near the kitchen all day!!!!

    V xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Jojo, it’s clearly driving you potty having your exercise restricted – I hope you are given the green light when you go back to your specialist. Have you tried mindful meditation? It can be a good way to spend an hour. I do it if I can’t sleep by listening to a guided meditation on my MP3 player. It doesn’t always send me to sleep but it can be both relaxing and energising at the same time which is weird.

Hermaj thank you for the recipes. Tonight we are having Yotam Ottolenghis recipe for Harissa spiced veg, OH will either have pasta or jacket potato and I will have zero noodles. Anyone tried the zero pasta? I know the noodles are an acquired taste, but if drowned in a tasty sauce they are ok by me.

Versy, I bet you could get up Snowden a lot easier now!

I meant to post this link for 50 skinny soups. There are some good low fat recipes on the site as well.

    http://www.skinnytaste.com

Thanks, Cheeseplease. I ordered Plenty, one of Ottolenghi’s cookbooks, and it is on its way.

Ply, his recipes are delicious – if sometimes a bit long on ingredients some of which can be a bit obscure! He has a new book out and quite a few recipes were printed in Saturdays Guardian magazine – yum is all I can say!

    Hi all,
Just assembled all my ingredients for my stew just waiting for the outcome, think I may throw some kale in later, can’t do any harm. pretty hungry on this fast day. Sounds like everyone is cooking.
Sitting down for an episode of Flog it.
Really must sell my tea card collection. I don’t have any antiques sadly.
Anyone else love watching these programmes?

“I would no sooner eat a rice cake than I would cardboard – seriously I don’t know what people see in them.”

    Couldn’t agree more :yuck:

Not exercising must be really frustrating Jojo but I guess you have to focus on how much better your hip will be after your enforced rest. I am getting frustrated because my back has been playing up since the end of June when I had surgery, and I’m sure it was caused by the operating table and the most uncomfortable trolley in the world that I spent most of the day on!
It is much improved but I’m still getting sacro-iliac and hip pain. I tried the kettlebell tutorial earlier but was unable to do all of it due to discomfort, which is frustrating to say the least.
I guess I’m going to have to see my GP which is something I was hoping to avoid.

Ottolenghi’s recipes are yummy. I’ve got a copy of Jerusalem and have tried several recipes and loved all of them.

The veggie and lentil curry is good and at 325 cals per portion I’ll be making it again.

JoJo : Just printed off Nigel Slater’s almond and lentil stew receipe. Looks gorgeous – I think I might make it tomorrow. Thanks for that.

    V xxxxxxx

PS can I dip bread in it lol??? xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Hi Versy,
I have just had my bowl of stew which was delicious and very filling, no bread required. I know it comes as second nature with soup and stew. Actually I often have three breadsticks – something good about the crunch then dip.

I think if I have the this stew again I might add some chilli or cayenne, I just like spice.

Thai green curry is my favourite food.

That veggie and lentil curry sounds good, must get Ottolenghi’s recipe, or has someone already posted this, I will do some research. Wed night I will be having ‘spicy veg and quinoa laksa’ ( another bbc food menu)
Ply – I hope this is successful because the food looks promising.

Sorry Jojo, my previous post was inadvertently misleading, the veggie and lentil curry is my own recipe.

I love Thai green curry. I’ve got an ancient Rick Stein book that has a monkfish and prawn green curry recipe which includes how to make the paste from scratch. I’ve used it lots of times substituting monkfish with other white fish and even chicken, and substituting the vegetables in it. I’ve also use home made and ready made curry paste, and it never fails.

You lot are making me hungry lol . It is a fasting day and I have had my lot for today . I know have visions of toast in my head BUT I will wait and have it tomorrow πŸ™‚

    Wee xx

I’ve had my calories for the day too and I am not hungry at all but the book I’m reading has a lot of references to food and restaurants so I’ve had to put it down.
Does everyone fast on a Monday? I’d guess they do.

I change my days around to suit my days with dad ( best if I keep busy ) . I am trying to do BTB at the moment . .

    Wee xx

    Thanks Amazon,
I have a Rick Stein cookery book ‘seafood lovers’ guide but I haven’t got that recipe. Might google making the sauce from scratch though, good idea. Ply is also a fan of thai food I believe. Isn’t it strange how similar our tastes are on this thread?
I have decided that I must swim and do a yoga class tomorrow because if I don’t I will be driven to wreck my diet, boredom and lack of exercise are my worst enemies.
I will try some meditation this evening.
Feed day tomorrow, today’s leftovers plus a little spice.

Night Amazon, night hermajtomomi, night ply, night Weemam, night Versy , night Cheeseplease, night SAMM, night John boy any others I may have missed πŸ™

    Night Jojo

(is there anyone out there too young to remember the Waltons?)

Awww night Jojo …….I remember laurel and Hardy lol . πŸ™‚

    Wee xx

I tsp blachan (dried shrimp paste)
    1 tsp salt

Roughly chop chillies, onion, lemon grass, and galangal or ginger. Put all ingredients in a blender or processor and blend until smooth.

    http://www.lifestylefood.com.au/recipes/3790/green-monkfish-and-prawn-curry

Hi JoJo : I’m glad you liked your stew. I am a chilli head so will be adding some birds eye red chillis to blow my socks off. I entered a chilli eating contest in Perth (Scone Palace) last year but bombed out of the 4th round. Thought I would go further seeing I eat raw chillis on sandwiches. It was the raw scotch bonnet that did it for me – ouch!!!

Hi Cheeseplease : I’m afraid I do remember the Waltons – night Mary Ellen, night Jim Bob.

I’m fasting too but I have some calories left for my homemade mushroom soup. It is from the Hairy Bikers Mum’s Know Best and is yummy!!!!

Hope everyone makes it through the rest of the night ok. Got aerobics and zumba tomorrow and might throw in a kettlebell workout if I’m feeling energetic.

    Night all.

    V xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Night night V . I am waving out of my window in St Ninians to you lol .

    Wee xx

Night night Wee – St Ninians is lovely. I must get the dogs walked there some time. Nearly time for soup – getting hungry again then an early night with a book.

Planning what I can cook tomorrow because my fast day will be over – yipppppeeeeeeee!

    V xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I love chillies too. I used to have an allotment and last year I grew the most amazing crop of sweet peppers and chillies. I made several pots of chilli jam which was fab, and as I had so many of the small really hot ones left I decided to make another batch and leave the seeds in. It was eyewateringly hot, but wonderful.

I gave the allotment up after 13 years because I no longer had the motivation or the time (something I thought I would have more of since giving up work) to continue. It is hard work for one person. I have to say I’ve not missed it at all as I’ve been so busy. I might not be saying that next year when my last jar of chutney has been eaten!

I have only ever made an attempt at a curry once and it was mild chilli powder I used . My hubby just like PLAIN food as he calls it BUT I am going to give a more adventurous go at some time . I will watch for a recipe here on the site and bake a batch and freeze them just for myself . I want an easy one ( not too many ingredients) lol .

    Wee xx

Ah! The Waltons! Rubbish show, but we all love to quote them last thing at night. I’ve enjoyed the good nights, fast trackers.
    G’night Betty Lou

Evening, all! Haven’t thought about the Waltons in quite some time!
Great fast day today, so busy at work that I didn’t have time to eat, or even think about eating. Came home and made a stir fry with leftover pork, lots of veggies, and zero rice. Delish and satisfying!
Jojo, I have not done a thing with the dollhouse yet, except think about it and look at adorable miniature things online! First project will be painting the outside and the trim. The two-story porches need a little glue on the railings, and the front door needs new hinges. After that, floors and walls inside, and I will be doing wallpaper in some rooms!
Tomorrow is our first practice for Girls on the Run, and I am beyond excited! I think I posted the link before, but if you have a moment, check it out: http://www.girlsontherun.org
All the food and recipes sound amazing! My Ottolenghi cookbook finally arrived today, and I can’t wait to try the recipes. The pictures alone make one’s mouth water!
Will probably do a B2B fast tomorrow, since it promises to be another very busy day! Goodnight, all!

    Good morning all.

So many posts… Hope I don’t forget anyone.

Hermaj, glad to see you are keeping at your dissertation. Recipes sound like a great distraction.

Ply, Amazon and Cheeseplease – great news about smaller clothes. I also sew and altering is very satisfying, as well as good for the pocket.

Jojo, good to hear your new bowls club foray went well. Looking forward to hearing yours and Ply’s progress in the 9lb competition. You asked about hobbies … dare I say eating? Others include reading, propagating plants (I’m a botanist in my working life), baking, knitting for my grandchildren.

SAMM thanks for more interesting nutritional information. As Jojo suggested, have you thought about retraining as a nutritionist/dietician?

Weemam – jeans! Good on you. I’m wearing again some size 16 moleskins in jeans style and in the back of my wardrobe there are 2 pairs of size 12 Levi 501s which I intend to wear again, even if I’m 70 when it happens.

Cheeseplease, your visit to Snowdonia was a sad occasion but what a nice way to mark it. I don’t drink or smoke either. As Hermaj says, non-drinkers are viewed as party poopers and I’m always pressured to ‘just have one’. I tell them alcohol tastes like paint thinner to me (it does – I’m a super taster) and I can’t imagine how they can drink such foul-tasting stuff.

Jojo, just a small concern about protein-free days. As we can’t store the protein we eat, if our bodies need more then our bodily protein, usually our muscle, is consumed. Taken too far, this has the effect of reducing the calories we need to survive because our muscle is reduced.

Versy2010, re carbs, I know that my system holds water when I eat them but I’m in this WOL forever and figure that if I cut out any group of food, especially one I love, then this would be no different from any other diet I’ve tried, got sick of and then undone all my efforts.

I have water only porridge on fast days but on other days I have unsweetened porridge with milk for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch but little/no carbs for dinner. I also drink milky coffee on non-FDs but never have milk in tea so drink it like that on all days. On this regime (far too strong a word) I lose about a kg/month and I’m OK with that because it’s sustainable, as I have said before, possibly on this thread. I don’t have any pressing health issues and my OH is healthy, fit and skinny so I want our eating life to be ‘normal’. I fast on work days.

Having said all that we went with the grandchildren to the Royal Adelaide Show yesterday so definitely some indulgences. Fasting today and Thursday this week and so far so good. Unfortunately scales have not again shown my previous best but I keep on keeping on.

Keep up the good work all.

    Warning,
Do not press on the link from Carlos my iPad now frozen, I have reported the post to be removed. Anyone know how to clear it? Turning off did not work.

Don’t worry about my protein change I am still having the right amour but just in different forms . I am not risking losing muscle. Quinoa and almonds are proteins.

May be out of touch until I can sort out iPad. My phone more difficult to use with small keypad. Still have fat fingers.

Hi all, figured out how to clear it, when your internet page is loading clear it on the top line before it fully loads the page.
Hope that helps. Bloody viruses, that is the problem with posting links, hackers attach rubbish to them

    Morning all.
It’s a lovely day today, blue sky and sunshine.
Non fast today but I’m sticking to 1000 calories with as much exercise as I can manage.

Nicky, do you live in Adelaide? I have friends there and I visited them in January. It is one of my favourite cities.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Nicky F,
Thanks for your concern but don’t worry. Still have 1200 calorie count on feed days and 500 on two fast days. I know what I am doing. Unfortunately we are not all as lucky as you, I was lucky to lose 2lb per month on standard fasting so I need to move it up a gear. Lost 4 stone now but still 3+ more to go and two holidays looming in September and October. Would be nice to shift a few more pounds before I go. I never aim to lose more than 2 lb per week which is approved by most medical professionals. Sadly even that requires a lot of effort on my part plus loads of exercise. Currently restricted on exercise so changing diet to meet current needs.

My son just contacted me on FaceTime from Thailand, it’s his birthday(24) He is sitting in a hotel where each room has it’s own plunge pool. He and his girlfriend are sitting in it to avoid being eaten by Mosquitos. He is using tiger balm on the bites, never heard of it but apparently highly recommended. Ply if only that mosquito deterrent patch was available worldwide now.

Must go walk the dogs before my shift behind the bar for three hours, hope it’s busy.

Have a great feed day or b2b everyone.

Glad you got the frozen iPad worked out, Jojo! Why the need to invade our lovely little thread with spam??
Down 1/2 pound today, so I am planning another fast day today. Less than 5 pounds from the 120s…I think the last time I saw a number there was about 8 years ago. You may hear my scream across the sea when it happens!
    Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Amazon – I’m a monkey for buying loads of chilli plants then I get bored and don’t water them. I have 4 plants on the go at the moment – 3 of them are dead but one of them is doing really well considering the absolute abandonment. Don’t worry I’m ok at looking after dogs and children!!!!! Don’t need to phone Esther Ranson just yet.

My fast day went ok yesterday but still feeling enormous. Only lost 3 lb in 2 weeks but I guess that’s ok. I just need to make a concerted effort this week and eat a bit less. The weekends are still letting me down so this weekend I NEED to behave a bit.

It’s just when it comes to Friday and the sun is shining, I just CAN’T resist a bbq and wine. We’ve just had the patio done and it looks lovely now. Also just got a beach hut so we’re spending more time outside. Any tips lovely ladies on how I can do something different? I know you’re going to tell me to drink diet coke but it’s not the same!!!!!

    Desperate V xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Hi versy.

My original plan for this week was fast M/W/F and eat 1000 calories (my TDEE is over 2000) on Tu/Th but I’ve been so busy today that I’ve not broken my fast so I’m going for B2B today, eat normally tomorrow and try for another B2B on Th/F.

I used to drink a lot of wine every weekend but have been less inclined to do so since I gave up work. These days I rarely drink more than two glasses of an evening and I’ve realised that I used to drink it but not appreciate it as much as I should. If I fancy a glass of wine I wait at least 30 minutes before I open the bottle, and I have a glass of water alongside it. For every glass of wine I have a glass of water. I know it is not always easy to do that if others around you are drinking but you could give it a go.

As for BBQ, what are you eating?
You might already be doing this but,
if it were me, I would avoid sausages, ribs and burgers and go for lean meat, lamb, steak, chicken or fish and seafood kebabs, whole fish stuffed with herbs, and some chilli :wink:cooked in foil, or steaks of meaty fish like tuna, swordfish or halibut. Veggie kebabs are great too, much nicer than a salad IMO. Of course all of the things I’ve mentioned are more expensive than the sausages etc, but you could just have a bit less.

Thanks Amazon – of course all of what you say makes sense. As yet, I haven’t done a B2B fast so might do that Thurs/Fri too. At least that will keep me out of mischief on Fri and anyway, hubby working that night so no shinannigans on the agenda!

I guess I’ve just got to get my finger out and stop dabbling and get on with it.

I’ve forgotten how long have you been on 5:2 and how much have you lost? Going senile.

    V xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Versy,
Have spritzers, slimline tonic, halve the cals – easy.
Food at a BBQ is far more difficult – I used to have chicken or veg kebab with a really good salad( everything in it except the kitchen sink) plus honey and mustard dressing.

I was out to lunch today – chose salad without the ham and cheese added my own cooked quinoa and almonds, drink iced sparkling water with slices of lime. Resisted pudding, all stodge, in favour of an apple – simples as the meercat says.

I should tell you that I sat next to a woman of 18 st plus( I know that because I was nearly that last year) watched her devour ham, egg and chips in an enormous quantity and then refuse the pudding because she is trying to lose half a stone. Seriously! Us human food machines need to take a long hard look in a full length mirror before we get dressed everyday. I know I did not do that when I was fatter.

Actually the only reason the bowls club serve salad is because I suggested that we should take on board the message that healthy options are better options. Actually there were quite a few salads ordered so I feel justified. I even suggested they offer fruit at tea time – that rocked the boat a little- wot no cake and biscuits?

Ply, well done you, in contrast I am up a pound but suspect this is water retention, we will see. So you are in the lead, my daughter only weighs weekly so will I will let you know Sunday. I have my second fast tomorrow and may do one on Friday. I will need to buy some moe zero noodles and bulk nuts from Amazon, I missed the deal at Boots. I just discovered some of my noodles were past their sell by date, ate them anyway – still here, although I did have a few stomach cramps last night. I put it down to diet change – too much fibre.

Just bought another hot pink sun dress with a salsa layered skirt, it’s stunning, perfect for my holiday. Most of my old dresses are in my alterations pile now, it’s not only the taking in but the shortening that takes so long.

The members at the bowls club are all trying to convince me to stay but I am holding firm, I will remain on a social basis only. They need to learn their are consequences for not looking after their members. My feet will do the talking, they did not listen to me for the last six months when I complained about new member training and practise not meeting my needs. The other club is much more proactive for these areas.

I am really enjoying the bar work, it’s fun, not exactly busy though, read the paper from cover to cover in between customers and restocking. New royal baby on the way, two under two, lucky she has help. Desperately sad that George Clooney has just got engaged, I was saving myself for him. I could have been a human rights lawyer if I had known that’s what he wanted. Admittedly she is younger, prettier, slimmer and has better hair but that will all fade in time. (Meow)
Most stories about the Scottish vote for independence. How are our Scots feeling about this issue? Personally I think they will be better off without us. Sad but necessary in the long run, it’s the only way to get a fair system and hopefully improve work prospects.

Back to my garden, watering to do, have fun all

versy, I did the 5:2 for 7 months last year and lost 3 stone with 4 weeks off in the middle due to 2 holidays. I stopped at the beginning of December when I went to Oz for two months where I put 10lbs on and another few since I got back. I only started again on 11th August for various reasons and have lost 6lbs, but I’ve not weighed myself since last week as I get disappointed very easily so have vowed to keep away from the scales for at least 7 days at a time, especially as I have another 3 stones to lose.

A hot pink sundress with a salsa layered skirt sounds fab. My favourite shade of pink πŸ™‚

I have a few friends who live in Scotland. They all abhor Salmond and are against independence. Most of them are giving serious thought to moving south of the border if it happens.

I am voting yes . it is not for Alex Salmond though it is for Scotland .Scotland is not only SNP .
I am not good though at arguing the point but my husband is .I say ” to each their own”
I have not had bread for some time so decided to have toast for breakfast . I really enjoyed it but have had cramps since . When I stay of or limit my carbs I am much better in myself and the IBS is better too . So a lesson learned … no bread .

Jojo I love the idea of your dress it sounds gorgeous . I usually go for blues or fawns but last week I had orange on and felt good . Ross said again today ” you look nice Mam ” I had cotton trader pants on (trousers) and a long sleeved gold coloured ( mustard) top to match .Just for slouching about in. I feel so good that it must be showing in my face :).
I keep saying it BUT I will say it again .I LOVE THIS WOL .

Take care everyone and have a nice day .

    Wee xx

    Hi weemam.

You inspired me to do B2B fasts yesterday and today, and it has gone really well. πŸ™‚

I have lamb with veggies, followed by baked figs with a tiny bit of honey and yogurt.

Brilliant!! I have mince and turnip ( swede) yummy . Isn’t this a great way to live . I don’t know about anyone else but I am actually tasting what I eat now . I used to eat so fast I needed a second helping to taste it .
I saw fresh figs in Aldi yesterday , not quite sure what to do with them so didn’t buy any .

Ply I thought I heard something …Did you scream? xx

    Wee xx

Fresh figs are nice as they are but I also like to cook them with honey and have them with yogurt.
I know what you mean about not tasting food. I am working on eating every mouthful slowly, putting my knife and fork down between mouthfuls and really enjoying every morsel. I live alone and was very lazy, always sitting on the sofa with my dinner on a tray. I’ve started eating at the table for every meal and it makes a difference as I’m concentrating on what I’m eating rather than shovelling it in while watching TV and hardly tasting it.

    Have a good evening.

    Amazon
Great to know that there is somone else on here with 3 stone to go, what is your goal, mine is 10 stone. I am 5ft 5 ins( used to be 5 ft 6 ins), I think I should join Ply. She is an inch taller since she started her pilates classes.
Those baked figs sound delicious, must copy that idea. Looking forward to my stew, it’s in the oven heating up now while I have a nice cuppa.
Weemam – I have found ‘hot pink’ is great on me and I get lots of compliments. I also wear red and turquiose( not together) usually with white or black.
I have always had compliments about my dress sense but now I believe them, before I thought people were just being polite whilst thinking( fat mare). They probably were not at all but fat really hits your self esteem even when you are out going and confident.
Anyone know any really funny jokes( I need one for my bar work)
Ah, that’s my food ready then I am heading off to choir
    Speak tomorrow guys

Jojo, my goal is 10 and a half and see how that looks and feels, and I am a full half an inch taller than you πŸ˜†

I had never eaten a fresh fig until a few years ago and found out that I love them, so when they are in season I buy them as often as possible. I’ve also got a bowl full of Victoria plums and some beautiful French greengages. I’m on a mission to buy what is in season, and British if it is available.

I wear most colours apart from orange and mustardy shades because they don’t suit me at all, and I’m not fond of bright yellow on me either.

    Hi Amazon,
I am just working up to yellow, floral only, but some of the Monsoon dresses are so cheerful and well cut for the fuller figure. Of course I am only buying Ebay or second hand as I am pushing through 16 by Christmas. I have bought some real bargains recently, mostly under Β£10.00 including delivery. I will re-sell them afterwards.
I love jackets, preferably fitted shorter length with some real design features, these you can pick up for a snip second hand. I have bought leather, tweed, and cotton. I have also started wearing waistcoats again, putting them over long colourful shirts. Tonight I wore a fringed waistcoat( remember them) very hippy. Several younger girls in the choir asked me where I had bought it, they loved it. if only they knew about the 60’s and 70’s when quite a few girls and boys wore them. Good memories of the music and the fun at concerts, clubs and disco’s.

Ply – I think you need to get some quinoa, it has such a slow burn and I have only put a handful of almonds in the menu for three good size portions. I have not had the desire to snack between meals – result! . I have a good feeling about this experiment but the real result will be after day 2 fast. Dropped my water consumption because I am just not thirsty, this is a strange side effect that I can’t explain. Any ideas? Do animal proteins rather than plant proteins work differently? What say you SAMM?

Goodnight everyone, all sung out, can!t stop yawning.

    Hi All,
Please look at Engine2Diet – I won’t post the link after what happened to Carlos’s link. Just google it. This will help us all find out about plant based proteins, really interesting. I hadn’t thought about it before but nearly all the largest, strongest, animals in the world do not eat meat e.g. Elephants. Rhinoceros etc. there are now many top athletes who live on plant based proteins only to improve their performance. This diet is now being chosen for it’s cancer fighting success.
Yes it is one hell of a life change but I seem to be getting used to turning my world on it’s head. Do you know what? All the changes I have made have been hard at the time( in the first few weeks), fasting, no drinking, no bread, no meat, no eggs and no fish but all seem to be changes that are improving my health, well being, digestion, skin and finally weight-loss.
    Read it please
    Jojo xx

    Good morning fasttrackers.

Jojo, firstly my apologies. I should have known you would be up on the protein topic. Many people follow the vegan WOL, including athletes, as you said. I mostly follow what Purple calls VB6 (vegan before 6pm) but like, cheese and a grilled steak too much to give animal protein up completely.

Amazon, yes I live in Adelaide. Grew up here, married a local but then had many moves, including some so remote that they didn’t have names except for the prospect name – he’s an exploration geochemist. We moved back here 20 years ago, also for his work. Daughter since married a local and they have two children. They only live 5km from us so we see the grandies frequently.

Successful FD yesterday and another scheduled for tomorrow.

    Happy Wednesday all.

I’ll read on about the differences in proteins.
For dieting there are some quick differences, however make no difference on weightloss itself. TDEE IMO is the formula , and wether it’s plant or animal it simply comes down to metabolic rate of Intake. Counting those calories is best way to keep from negating.

Grape skins while fasting can effect genes. Like throwing a switch.
This just guessing on my part , but the only way meat could do this is if it were raw. And I would never recommend raw meat. What I mean to say is once it’s cooked protein make little difference wether it’s animal or plant based. But if you’re after cancer prevention or fighting it’s the plants. I believe there is a lot of information in the raw fruits and vegetables genes that effect our own genes . It can be very complex as not all humans have the same. Blood type. So it gets Sophisticated to gain the benefits.

My understanding is that fasting , then ingesting the foods that turn genetic responses is easier to see results . Like fasting and then eating grape skins / resveritol . Switches on genes that protect the heart wouldn’t be switched on from just eating grapes .

IMO there’s little difference in plant or animal protein once it’s cooked.
However my sugars spike from whey protein when Im fasting. So I don’t believe I understand it enough yet to recommend anything. But would say unlike other dieting methods fasting and vegetables , especially proven cancer fighting vegetables may enable unintended responses.

I have a terrible headache. So I. Rambling.

I’ll point to protein role as wound healing. And how mosely points to the ratio of proteins effect on. Igf1
If you research there you may see how the reduction of cell mitosis can be a side effect of weight loss.
This is where fasters need to be on point.

If you read that and are still with me.
I’m saying fasting with fish and vegetables skin on is simple and doable 2-3 times a week.

Much sorry for not articulating this. Iwill read in next week and find an online link tp a page that may better explain it in scientific references and easier to understand writing.

I’ll add that there’s a. Difference in fasters whom exercise and those faster whom are sedentary throng to burn fat. Whille I could point to many things . TDEE get you there in a very simple to apply daily calculation. While some folks may think that’s a bit much. Try and understand that being diabetic I can use math every time I eat and make a difference in my long term health. So figuring my TDEE once a week is very doable. From that number I know how much protein to intake. And for me fish protein ,helps with DHA Intake. No way I would figure this out while walking through grocery aisles . Ihave to make a menu and the order it delivered. I actually spend less time and money working out my menu and ordering it delivered. As I keep it all in journal. Seems like too much work to folks I explain it to but actually after about making 5-6 nutritionally balanced menu. My shopping is as simple and copying and pastingandaseasy as waiting for pizzato be delivered. I mean. To me it’s worth the effort. To spend 10 hours making a menu that has everything in it I believe will help with my longevity. Then just copy and paste it for 10 months.

It’s the point micheal made in eat fast live longer. Fasting on fish and vegetables and the side effect was weightloss . To me 4:3 is doable. Where as ADF was nearly as difficult as starvation diet.

When the doable factor let’s off the hook. We can eat unrestricted two week days and on the weekends. Gets me inth the fasting routine. Then as the fasting days become regular routine, I start working out how to make the feed days the super food days on the menu. The thing is. When family or friends want me along . I don’t give eating whatever I want a second thought. Because they are much fewer occasions and I enjoy the freedom very much to have unrestricted eating with family and friends.

Hello, I finally started to lose a little over 2 lbs. per week during the last 3 weeks by sleeping a half hour later every morning than I usually did. I also wake up feeling better now because I’m waking up on my own without the alarm clock. Usually the alarm clock jars me out of a nice dream and I end up feeling tired all day long. I wouldn’t have thought that there would be so much difference between 6.75 and 7.25 hours of sleep, but the small difference feels wonderful!
