  • 72% chocolate, SAMM! Agree with the no grazing – most days. Someone brought cupcakes to work for morning tea, can’t resist (non-FD).

I’m working today, as we have training, finishing with drinks and nibbles, but you could guess that I’m not busy, as I have plenty of time to chat to you lovely mates. Nibbles are not as appealing as they used to be. Chippies (crisps) taste more gluggy and seem to sit heavier on the palate more than they used to.

    Hi Samm,
I never leave the house without both an apple and an orange in my bag. I also have little snack pots made up weekly. They never exceed 100 cals and are eaten on no fadt days. I like a variety of tastes and textures to satisfy my need at the time. One pot has bread sticks another an assortment of almond, walnuts and Brazil’s – crunchy, I have a pot of grapes and a pot of blueberries- sweet urge, finally I have pots of carrot sticks or cucumber and cherry tomatoes- healthy snacks. These pots keep me on the straight and narrow on no fast days. Of course these are still eaten in the 5 hour eating window now moved to earlier in the day – 8-1.

Thanks for the information Samm, I really enjoy all my fitness and weight lifting efforts now. I wouldn’t put much store by my trainers to be honest, they are not that attentive as they have 24 students in their circuit training classes. Not very impressive.

I read and learn correct lifting techniques for myself.

I particularly enjoy dancing and sport in preference to usual gym work but I can do both. I am missing my Nordic Walking, must organise to do some more.

Well done CakeyWakey, Aussie Oma and Barata – good job. Did you see the TV programme tonight. One lady lost over 11 stone, starting point 25.8 stone and now she plans to swim the Channel. Incredible! She has really turned her life around and changed from a recluse to a fun loving person.

You are very sweet! I didn’t realize it until I received the first inquire on my personal email.
Now you know my name so we take it from there.
    Thank you
    Bennie

Just saw Gemma Bovary. Fantastic. If you are after fun, this is it 😉 P

    Hi jojo,

Although others may be interested too!

I caught most of a programme on BBC2 this week ‘Eat to live forever with Giles Coren’. He spent a week each on Calorie Restriction with optimal nutrition, paleo diet, and fruitarian.

The CR(ON)s he was with ate breakfast and lunch, then fasted through to breakfast. He reported sleeping well, although I don’t think he got on with the CR or the ON! Are you still doing your 19:5 from lunch til breakfast? And are you still sleeping OK?

Don’t think I could adopt any approach full time, but am quite intrigued by the idea of looking at optimal nutrition for the fast days…

    Good morning Fast Trackers,
All is not well today, I have woken up with a really stiff neck and I mean no movement at all. it has been uncomfortable since Tuesday but it’s hell now. This is not good as I have Tangatawiwi visiting tomorrow and a sponsored knit to attend. I think I will try to get a massage then add heat creams, how annoying. Can’t remember the last time this happened to me, wonder what caused it? Fingers crossed it improves by tomorrow.

    Anyone got any useful suggestions?

Not hungry at all this morning, feeling constipated, too many eggs this week. Sticking to chicken soup and salad today.

I may try bowls later today but I think Yoga and Dance class are not recommended. Dogs need to walked no matter what so off I go, there will be no green cross code for me today so I will stick to crossing at the traffic lights. Oh well the bonus is no getting on the scales for me today either.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Happynow,

Do you know what! I am sleeping like a log but to be honest I usually do. I did wonder whether it would be a problem because when I started fasting I frequently had to get up in the middle if the night for a bowl of cereal, occasionally I would have toast.

I have had to get up to empty my bladder more times( 2 or three times instead of once) very rarely go through the whole night without a visit to the bathroom. I get straight back to sleep so no issue. I think my lifestyle is full on physically so my body needs the rest. I am 19/5 everyday, feed days are great, 1200 cals in 5 hours, yum. But at the end of the day all my food is healthy these days. I have noticed more of a sugar craving since I changed window but I am crushing it. Be gone nemesis!

I don’t think this early window would work for people that spend evenings at home, I am usually out doing activities or visiting friends or the pub(for the live music not alcohol). If I stay in I read or knit to distract myself.

It is not very sociable but I am afraid being sociable has not really helped my weightloss routines. I am sticking with it for now. Give it a try, what harm can it do? Of course as I say this I realise the stiff neck started with the new window, coincidence I hope?

    PVE,
Tell us more about Gemma Bovary please!

    Hi Jojo,

Sorry to hear about your neck, that can be really painful. I believe heat and massage and more heat is the best remedy, keeps the muscles from locking up any more. A good massage should really help plus some anti inflammatories. Try to keep up the heat as much as you can with a heat pack. If you dont have a heat pack, put some bird seed or similar in an old soft sock, knot the end and warm it in the microwave. And keep it moving as much as possible. Wear a thick scarf if you are bowling outside. If it has been building, you must have strained a muscle or two at some point. Poor chicken. Have fun with Wiwi tomorrow, just the distraction you need!

Oo Jojo. No good. I’d recommend Voltaren rubbed in and the massage. I also own a TENS machine which uses gentle electrical impulses. Brilliant for this sort of thing. You can get them through eBay, but a bit late for you today. Heat packs are good too. I’m a regular with bad necks 🙁 Good luck. P

Jojo there is a trailer of Gemma Bovery on line…it looks great. I wish I had known about it earlier as its apparently been running since beg of March in Melb and now only 2 sessions left, neither of which I am able to make it to. Its a rom com relating to Flaubert’s famous Madame Emma Bovary.

    Morning/evening all.
I slept in very late for me and was woken byt a delivery man ringing the doorbell or I might have still been there.
I’m going walking later, it is fairly bright and I’m hoping for some sunshine later.

Jojo, I know you don’t like them but you should take anti inflammatories for your neck, or use topical gel if you have any. A heat pack will help too. I’ve got a sleep pillow that is filled with lavender seeds. It is heated in the microwave, and helps if I can’t get to sleep or if I have a sore knee/back. One of my better investments.

I went to bed earlier that I wanted to last night as I was feeling hungry, and it never ceases to amaze me that when I get up the next day, I’m not hungry at all. I’m sure I was hungry because I changed my gym day to yeasterday which coincided with a FD and I split my calories rather than having them all at dinner time.

Have a good day/evening everyone, and well done to anyone who has lost and I’ve forgotten to mention.

Sorry Jojo. The forum is having technical issues so I am not getting proper notifications of posts. Gemma Bovary is as Nama describes. I saw it as part of the French Film Festival that runs in Sydney every year. Try to catch it. P

Hope your pain in the neck goes away soon, Jojo!

So at yesterday’s weigh-in I was down 4.3 pounds, and today 5.2 Fitting, no?

Sorry about your neck Jo…..so, so painful not to mention a terrible bother! Every move you make hurts when your neck is stiff.

First day of Spring and it is snowing like a #(&*&!! 3-5 inches is the prediction. I could really have done without seeing another flake this year. All I want is to get back out on the golf course. Some years we are able to get out in March, but we’ll be lucky to get out in April at this rate!

Scale popped up a pound this morning, but I’m putting it down to muscle soreness as we did a lot of dumbbell work at boot camp yesterday morning. Just have to keep the faith that the trend will continue to be downward on the scale and not be upset by the occasional tick upwards.

    Have a lovely weekend!

Just spent an hour chasing up knitters committed to tomorrow, four out of eight cancelled. Why did they not ring me earlier in time to chase up replacements. How selfish some people are, I am very cross. Going out for a long walk to give the anti inflamatory’s time to kick in before the massage.

Just had my quote for my three month trip to New Zealand and Australia. £15,000. So now I need to cut at least one third off that at least. There are a lot of flights in that both for me and my daughter. Guess I will be down grading accommodation from 3 stars to park benches. Only joking.

Loads of paperwork to do tonight, how dull.

Hi all any tips on what to eat on fast days please. Gona give 4 3 a go this week. Thanks

Hi Bryn, here are my top tips!
Drink lots of water/herb tea (I drink at least 4 pints, mostly water and one pint cold dandelion tea (diuretic))
Keep busy…distraction is the best hunger cure!
Miso soup with zero noodles or zero rice, filling and can be under 50 calories
If all else fails, go to bed early!

    Good luck!

Thanks for tips. What would people recommend 5 2 or 4 3? X

    Hello all

I haven’t had many spare moments to post lately, but have been following the thread as and when. Purple, I do hope you’re ok now after your accident. I love your suggestion for eating sweet corn, and I will definitely try it ‘naked ‘ when they are available later in the year. With the amount of butter I used to put on them, I definitely needed to be naked eating them anyway!

Thanks for making the Facebook arrangements clear Jojo. It would also be nice if those who would eventually like to join put some information in their profiles here so that we can get to know them a little better. I do hope your neck is better soon, especially with your imminent meeting up with Kiwi.

    Ply – fantastic result!

Bryn – my top tips are the same as Ply’s plus a few more general 5:2 ones:

    Drink plenty of water.

Try not to eat until your evening meal – I used to have a boiled egg for breakfast but always feel hungrier after I’ve eaten. I do though often have a cup of Bovril or Marigold Vegetable Boullion (recommended by Weemam) at lunchtime.

Keep busy and exercise if you can

Read the book, if you haven’t already done so, and revisit it often.

Look at some of the very good websites for low calorie meal ideas. My favourites are BBC Good a Good and the Woman 5.3 Diet Meal Planner.

Keep trying on clothes you haven’t worn for a while for motivation – it’s a wonderful feeling when they start to feel looser!

Keep reading and posting on this thread!

Personally I would recommend sticking to 5.2, with a couple of lower-than-usual-calorie days in between when you reach a plateau or had an over-indulgent few days – such as I have just had!

Stock up on zero noodles and rice. They are a godsend for some of us, though I know some don’t find them at all palatable. Just don’t sniff as you rinse them, unless you are into old socks!

I put off my usual Thursday fast until today as we were out for an Italian meal with friends last night, and the day before, I took my mother out for a belated Mother’s Day lunch. Looking forward to a Hairy Bikers low cal cottage pie for supper.

Lori – keep going – those scales will soon show the right numbers!

    Have a good evening/morning all.

    Smiffy x

Bryn, I batch cook and freeze low calorie versions of my favourite things to eat for FD dinners, curry, chilli, sweet and sour chicken etc. I figure that if I’ve fasted all day, I should have a comforting favourite for dinner which will satisfy my appetite and my taste buds. I agree with Smiffy that it’s better not to eat until evening because once I start eating I want more, and I’ve found it is easier not to eat until 4pm at the earliest and then have all my calories at once.
I have tea with a dash of milk in the morning, coffee with a dash of milk at lunchtime and lots of water during the day. If I’m feeling hungry or getting a headache I have a mug of Bovril and a good pinch of salt.
I keep zero noodles for days when I am extra hungry, as they are great for bulking up your food, but I find as some others on this website have, that they can cause an upset stomach.
4:3 is great for a while if you want to speed up the rate of loss, or if you’ve been on holiday and need to redress the balance so to speak, but some find it very tough. If you are just starting I suggest 5:2 for a month and then see how you feel about trying it.

I’ve had a lovely day today. I met a friend and we walked from Kew to Richmond along the towpath. We had coffee and cake, and then started walking again with a view to going to Kew Gardens. We got part of the way, saw two men sitting in the sun outside a quaint little pub sharing a bottle of red and though that seemed like a good idea! We only had one small glass each, so no damage done. I’ve got sushi for dinner, so a nice healthy end to the day.

Have a fab weekend everyone 😛

    Hi Fast Trackers
Nicky Emel comespring and Aussie O in South Australia Nama & Keirra in Victoria Bay in ACT PVE in NSW WiWi & Barata in NZ and Jojo SAMM HappyNow Amazon Herm Lizzy Ply Tartan lass Smiffy Lor_PA and Hello World (You know Who You) 😆
Greetings and salutations EFB’s and congratulations to all our continuing losers and a warm welcome to the new guys you will not regret joining Jojo’s team I assure you although that said jojo I do hope the neck is on the mend. I have found this week great a challenge and I have learnt a lot about adapting to the surround’s and or circumstances like a chameleon 😉 The 3 point plan of IF CR and Exercise is not always doable so the meatloaf song 2 out of 3 aint bad 😆 is the weeks mantra This week Monday fast according to script the Thursday fast a shocker so will catch that one up today 😳 the walking went pear shape Thursday and Yesterday and in the big picture no drama’s but what the eating window allows is a seamless and masterful weaving in and out of social business occasion without any standout issues so the 18/6 or 19/5 is always doable and always dependable. As for my SA mates walking around the streets in the evening in Murray Bridge where I am not known nor do I know where I am going is not ideal 💡 the 30 million dollar upgraded boning room there is outstanding. And same goes for Sydney next week so the 5-2 flexible WOL once again is a fantastic tool if it is not Mon-Thrs why not Wed-Sat etc and if it’s snowing outside (perish the thought) walking for 15000 steps is not ideal BUT the IF is certainly always doable !!! How Cool Is That a Friday funny bit late this week but
You don’t have to be a Catholic to appreciate this one.
A man suffered a serious heart attack while shopping in a store.
The store clerk called 000 when they saw him collapse to the floor.
The paramedics rushed the man to the nearest hospital where he had
    emergency open heart bypass surgery.
He awakened from the surgery to find himself in the care of nuns at the
    Catholic Hospital.
A nun was seated next to his bed holding a clipboard loaded with
several forms, and a pen. She asked him how he was going to pay for his
treatment. “Do you have health insurance?” she asked.
He replied in a raspy voice, “No health insurance.”
The nun asked, “Do you have money in the bank?”
He replied, “No money in the bank.”
Do you have a relative who could help you with the payments?” asked the
    irritated nun.
He said, “I only have a spinster sister, and she is a nun.”
The nun became agitated and announced loudly, “Nuns are not spinsters!
    Nuns are married to God.”
The patient replied, “Perfect. Send the bill to my brother-in-law.”
Have a Groovy Weekend Ya Losers
    Peace RT

    Good evening all,
Feeling a bit better, I can at least turn my head a little now.
Lots to do tonight and a very busy weekend planned.

Amazon- not fair, I guess you are at our restaurant?

I will try to post in the evening.

Have a great weekend both Fasters and non fasters.

    Hi Jojo,

I got my sushi from ITSU. I’ve not been back to that restaurant yet, but I’m looking for an opportunity to do so!

    Enjoy your weekend.

    Nama
You mat consider having your niece watch the original eat, fast, live longer 1 hr documentary.

There it’s much more about health than weight alone. Who knows it may strike a cord with her?

Has anyone seen any videos about ADF?

I’m getting pretty set In my routines and schedules , but there seems so much more attention on ADF.
I spent my book buying budget on sailing and gardening reads.

Also spent my time today at the gym socializing , once folks know I have sailboat that sleeps six and is near by they get chummy, but I like to keep the sailing to myself , until I I see I make friends with people I stuff in common with. Because I don’t like the off season. And treated as if I’m off too?

It’s sup rising how many folks garden , especially at a gym. Many folks Into growing their own healthy stuff.
My ankle feels much better after a day off. Canceled the doctors appointment, other that a scary pop it made when I woke up I’m not hobbling and just keeping things simple. No leg exercises or skipping.

    And BAYLEAFOZ
I’m hoping to be in maintenance mode in six months .
My for now is 1lb over weight. Because that’s beady 100lbs. I wanted to be realistic.
But my secondary goal is to continue to fast for the health benefits in health benefit fashion. My lowest goal will be to become 1lb underweight. And the reevaluate .

Just membering that even if I quit smoking, drinking, and start exercising. I’ll still need to fast and eat only healthy choice of foods.

    Hi Samm
Dead right. Hitting goal is only the first step. The weightloss part is simply retraining and good habit forming for a healthy “rest of our life”. 🙂 P

Rouge Trader- loved your brother-in-law story, I needed a laugh.
SAMM- I am with you one step at a time. This is only my 2nd week and 4th day of fasting. I do not know why but I gained a 1/2 pound this week. Maybe it the hot dogs? I am hoping to see a weight loss tomorrow. This is the heaviest I have ever been in 12 monthes. Very depressed about it.

Good morning all you know who you are 😉 Sunny and cool (10oC at 9am) autumn Saturday morning here.

Hope everyone’s injuries are healing: Jojo’s neck, Purple’s cuts and bruises and SAMM’s foot.

Looking forward to hearing about the Jojo-Wiwi get-together.

RT, glad you negotiated your trip to my end of SA relatively unscathed. Stay safe in big-bad Sydney 😉

Days with max about 18oC predicted for later in the week here so have thawed chicken stock and bought heap of veg for the first soup batch of the year.
Have nothing external planned today for the first time this week so a luxurious day at home, albeit with washing, cooking, gardening &c. Grandson’s 5th birthday party tomorrow to enjoy.

After a few weeks of scale readings bouncing around, finally shed 0.9kg at yesterday’s weigh-in, meaning that I’m now 0.4kg (400g) above my pre-Christmas lowest reading. Been quite frustrating as I haven’t been especially indulgent but know that plateaux happen to all of us occasionally for no good reason. My only other measurement was my waist and at least that has shrunk 6cm in the last 3 weeks so some measureable reward for effort.

SAMM thanks for link to 7 compound lifting exercises. Was pleased to see that my trainer uses them all every week for me, in some form or other. Last week had new PBs for several exercises, including 35kg for bench press with bar and 2×12.5kg with dumbbells (done lying on stability ball), 32kg for lat pulldown and 30kg for kettlebell squat 12 reps.

Yesterday had results of this year’s blood tests – GP very pleased. Need to do some Googling to work out what they mean in more detail but a measure of inflammation was considerably lower than previous tests.

Keep up the good work everyone and take care.

Oi Nicky!…if I survived SA water, RT will be perfectly safe in friendly, welcoming Sydney! 😉
    Enjoy your weekend 🙂 P

    Purple 😆

Bahaha you guys are a crack up thanks Nicky and Purple i have absolute faith in my fellow man looking forward to the adventure.MUCH 😉

Fasting works over the long term, but so does daily calorie restriction.
So know your TDEE for feed days and count the calories as much as reasonable.
Also stay hydrated! Being hydrated doesnt speed up metabolism, but being dehydrate sure does slow the metabolism by as much as 17%. Personally I drink the green tea with lemon and stevia as it I believe it helps with anti cancer and insulin resistance.

    JOJO
Stay hydrated. And see you GP. About the pain in the neck. Maybe even hold off lifting until it heals . You may have punctured a disc in the neck. I’m just guessing though. Just hoping these suggestion are are for caution to proceed in a safe than sorry approach. If it is a punctured disc, it can be fixed. With a medical procedure similar to acupuncture where the needles are heated and the disc fluid gels and seals any punctures. But there is a more medically sound approach these days. The problem is there isn’t a much fluids in the neck where the discs are so healing can be slowed. If you’re dehydrated. , it is possible for a disc to slip out permanently and require surgery. The problem can seem temporary , but there are nerves there that can affect breathing . And as per the falls discussion about how flu puts more demand on oxygen , so does changes in breathing rate. Wishing you well!

I worked out so much I’m stiff with doms. No pain no gain!

Go, SAMM, We will welcome you into Maintenance, and cheer you on. 😉

This WOL means always fasting for health. 6:1 works with a serious Monday fast, and then maybe a second fast if you have indulged during the week.

Going sugar free for Lent has meant that I only need one serious fast a week, and I choose Monday’. Sugar free has been interpreted to include one piece of fresh fruit and one glass of wine on 5 days a week. No other added sugar of any type. I am the person peering at the fine type on every packet. 🙄

    Cheers, Bay 🙂

    Morning/evening all.

Don’t listen to SAMM and his scary neck story Jojo Smiley I’m sure you’ve just pulled a muscle, and I hope it is feeling better this morning.

Well done Nicky, it comes off eventually doesn’t it 🙂
I’m ignoring the scales, I just walk straight past them without so much as a sideways glance. Yet another pair of trousers have started to slide down and that is all I need to know. I’ve noticed that my thigh muscles are much firmer as are the muscles in my arms, so I guess that will account for a slowing down of weight loss, but that is fine with me. My intention is to fast for 3 days every week and keep the calories down a bit on the other days. It won’t always work out that way, as last weekend proves, but as SAMM says, I’ll keep on keepin on.

    Hi Amazon
Well done on the falling down trousers! Must be losing somewhere;)
After your suggestion, I dragged out the Tagine pot and cooked up a lamb tagine today, as it was raining and cooler. It was DELICIOUS! Lamb, onion, leek, beans, snowpeas, carrot, ginger, lemon zest, coriander, cinnamon stick, tomato pasata, chicken stock, peppercorns, a little spelt to thicken, dates and dried apricots. 4 hours slow cooking. Served with corn cous cous and a little homemade yoghurt. Enough left over to freeze in small zip locks for another day. Thanks for the suggestion.
Off to bed to listen to the rain on the tin roof. P ::)

    Hi Purple

Traditonal tagines are simple dishes, using a few ingredients cooked in the pot over heat, and there is no added fat or pre frying of anything. I get really annoyed when I read recipes with olive oil and all other unnecessary ingredients that are not traditional. I tend to keep them simple and add (any or all of the following)vegetables, nuts, dried fruit, herbs, chick peas to the cous cous.I have an ancient book with a few recipes in that I base my tagines on. They are so simple to make and invariably delicious and healthy!
There is a North African restaurant not far from here that is my favourite place when comfort food is required. The staff always give a warm welcome, the wine is good and the tagines are to die for!

I’m glad you enjoyed yours, it sounds delicious with all those veggies, and it is great to have leftovers stashed in the freezer.
My freezer is my Aladdin’s den, with all manner of treasures hidden away 😛

The falling down trousers will be the tale of my weight loss journey 😉

    Bryn
I am actually on my second week so this is what works for me!
My fasting days are Monday and Thirsday so the day before I cook a 1/2 cup of quinoa (360 cal) and remaing calories I add chicken or salmon. I wanted to keep simple and a meal with high protein and fiber.
I don’t have breakfast so a small lunch and a big dinner. This simple meal can keep me satisfied on my FD.

Purple, I forgot to say that I’ve been to North Africa several times and was actually invited to a family house for dinner. The chicken tagine I was served still rates in my top dishes eaten abroad and I’ve not been there since 1987!

    FastTrackers,
Jogo thanks for heads up in regards the Facebook group also you are doing a great job managing this thread. Fastastic policy …. You are so right.
Happy Birhtday for this group and I am so happy to hear so many good results.

    Thinking of you JoJo !

I feel like different person this year. Much stronger, much thinner than last year.
After going to the gym to gather social friends. I find a few sailing buddies.
I have two sail boats .
There not Identicle , but like the same make of a car , but different years.

One is family boat that only my family and life long friends are on and I do all its work .
So if I have a sail or motor issue, my season isn’t lost. I only rent 1 slip.
The other is for spare parts, but every spring I bring it up to fully functional.
I let my gym friends I help with weekend launching which isn’t hard once you know how.
The thing is I also have friends I’ve made at the sailing club. I keep track of the old timers and others that have sold their boats. I don’t ask for money, but anytime something is needed they all chip in .

Then it’s on ! No matter whom else is on lake there a race, cause that’s my only expectation. Get there and . Launch the boat on Saturday and Sundays . The first four can launch. A former sailboat owner must lead a group. If a captain doesn’t show , then they call me and I get them going.
Due to it being in Indianapolis the spare boat is black and white like a checkered flag.
I try not to boss then about, they are grown men, women are not excluded. But they tend to get extremely vulgar and act like scaly wags. However I also expect the captains to be sober at all times. All I really want from the group is to race all comers all weekend long. Till 7pm . If I they’re respectful bunch I let them anchor out if the guest docks are taken, especially when our club is hosting seasonal race events. I’m often told it’s the best experience of their lives. I just smile knowing I felt the same way when I was ten with my dad. Hopefully they buy a boat of their own as the boats at the marina are constantly exchanging hands.
Mine are the largest boats on the lake permitted by law. Not that 26′ is big. It just that it’s a small lake.
In my opinion it’s just great fun putting the young in shape men together with old timers that can’t do it on their own anymore but miss the wind and the thrill of winning a race.
My boat is red white and blue and when they sail against each other it’s usually a tight race. Knowledge vs knowledge . Pirates vs patriots if you will. However , mine was the racing boat design of the series, though I don’t share that information. I can beat the pirates anytime I want if I’m focussed. Once I ordered everyone to jump off my boat and crashed into the other drunken fools as iraised mine own black flag. I won by a mere ten feet. No betting as the park rangers often stop and inspect us, so its just our pride on the line. It still gets talked about at the late night camp fire . It Was a fun day a memory I’ll never let go. This year I feel so strong , like a different person, ready and willing .

After my work out today ill being going there to make a list of everything that needs to be done.
winter was so long this year it seems.

    Bryn.
I eat red beans and walnuts. Twice!

The other two days I don’t eat anything at all.

I used to sip on 1 can of slim fast starting at noon 200cal. Just keep refilling with ice for as long as possible. However after a few weeks dump the tricks and go with real nutritious foods. The tricks won’t become a permeant lifestyle.

Personally I take tips from the forum they are all a collective source of info. I found once I switched to health foods on fast days . I was getting very good amounts of vitamin and minerals . Enough that any cravings caused by deficientcy isn’t causing me cravings.

I slowly over time broke my. Habits of grazing on sweets, chunchies , and salties.

Favoring two meals on fast days at noon and at 5pm . I picked those because they are social times to eat. So eating my 300cals at lunchtime with friends wasn’t like sitting with other watching and smelling them eat while I had nothing. However I knew I was going eat late dinner , but it was a fast day. I simply tried as much as possible to eat fish , just the fish. But still in the 5 hour window.

The 5hour window helped me with hunger. Because in the middle of fast day. I wasn’t starving from noon till about 8pm. The noon beans keep me going without hunger till about 4pm and a simple hunger feeling but not starving till 5. Then the pm meal keeps hunger pangs away for almost 3.5 hours. Most of the time I would go to sleep early and the fast day was over . Breakfast. For me on a feed day it typically heart health oriented. Like oat bran. But on feed days I only eat carbs in the morning . I have diabetes.

That’s what works for me , but it changes . It’s important to find what works for you. Then find more than one way that works. For me. I put serious emphasis on the feed days . Best damn food in world for health. I crave for nothing on the fast days but manage the hunger pangs.

It didn’t always work.iwas edgy , and sometimes a bit dizzy. I didn’t know I was diabetic when I started fasting. I kept on . For me , after an accident made me really take stock in my health, two very close person to had cancer, one is gone already. I love the feeling I get when I have to buy new clothes, and I get noticed for getting thinner. Isee I mirror the transformation happening and am pleased. However what I won’t settle for acceptance. I must try for improving my health , if shunning all the flavors that harm me for the sustenance of health and healing with every bite I Intake . Then so be it. What discovered was I still enjoy the health foods very much. I mean chili flavored red beans, fish, and fruits and vegetables instead of cakey snacks. Itsint so bad. Then when social events happen I just eat and enjoy it. The next day or on a regular scheduled fast day it’s back the plan that works for me. As long a I keep on keepin on with it , doing the doable as soon a I can with exercise too. I can get on with my other activities, so I now I don’t feel like food rules my life, because I found ways to enjoy my fast days justas much as my feed days. They’re not the same , and have much more energy on feed days, so I exercise much more on feed days.
At the 69lb fat loss mark , it’s taken two years. Thing is I’ve been on other weight loss schedules. So e worked. Not saying other plans don’t work. For me this works. Only needing to manage hunger pangs for a few hours in the morning and a few hours before bed , 3 days a week . But getting to eat good when I wake up the next day. Bitter things like pickles and sauerkraut, strong coffee , help, but are the tricks, instead of the planned meals where healthy protein from beans and fish help with my saities.

    Good evening all,
Firstly, thank you all for your concern about my neck but it is fine today. Two lots of anti inflamatories yesterday, a massage( bloody excruciating) and heat treatment day and night, result all good today.

Wiwi and her daughter came to visit today, it was amazing. Love them both to bits, utterly charming.

I had a very early start shopping and cooking, fresh fish and bread to buy for lunch. Made a nice big salad plus small jacket potato and Thai Chicken Curry. Fruit salad pud so quite healthy. Afraid we did indulge in a bottle of red but it was most enjoyable.

Wiwi and I headed off to the charity knit, 120 ladies knitting, all sponsored, in aid of three charities. We chatted, drank tea, ignored biscuits and knitted squares. In 90 minutes one lady produced 20 inches, mine was 5.25 inches(whoops), I am sure that was the average. Last year this event raised £6800, serious fundraising. Of course I showed everyone up by standing and dancing to Abba( the only one dancing of course) but I just don’t care, burning those calories, making my steps count. Who wants to sit still? Not me.

I hope this friendship will continue long into the future for both of us and our daughters. This thread has brought two more people together, it really is a powerful force this electronic communication.
Who will meet up next? Who knows?

Just signed up for ‘Race for Life’ 5 K walk/run in July. Anyone else in the UK up for joining me?

Time to do something positive in the fight for cancer prevention

It’s a shame Wiwi had to cancel our meet up yesteday, but hopefully we can do it next time she is in London.

I support a lot of charities, but I try to give my attention to those that aren’t as popular and well advertised as Cancer Research which gets an enormous amount of publicity and receives a huge amount of money in the form of donations.

Yes me too. Just can’t decide whether to see how fast my little legs will take me in 5K or push myself and try the 10K.

    Hi annette52,
Great to have company, albeit cyber.

I know what you mean about the distance, I think you can change to 10 K on the day if you want to, but I think I will practise and change it nearer the time if my training goes well.

You’ll be entering the Marathon next 😉

    Amazon,
Pity you didn’t jump on the train and join us down on the coast, we had a great time.

Good morning all, well it is midday so it is actually good afternoon. have had a full on week – my car was in the garage until 5pm Friday so that was nine days catching buses or relying on friends and occasionally my son who has my old car!!!
IT is now three weeks until I head off for China! It is becoming real and I have had to purchase clothes as I have nothing that would pass as formal day wear… Anyway a blazer, a black skirt, black pants and an amazing white shirt are now hanging up in closet. All of my items will last a loss of I think at least 10-12 kilos so I will be wearing them regularly. They look good now however!! I have done so much walking this term that my legs have trimmed down considerably despite a relatively meagre weight loss.
I had the best FD on Friday since starting this WOL , keeping busy really helps me. I even went out in the evening and had two low cal drinks, no wine and one cracker with salmon. It was so easy to say no thanks!!
Off to see Billy Idol and I think Cheap Tricks in the MclarenVale- a wine region South of Adelaide this afternoon. Hope everyone is well. I have heard your joke before RT- it is great!!
