    Anyone fasting with me today? I’m hoping to have as good a week as last week and won’t check until Thursday morning (after my 2nd fast). Fingers crossed!

    Cainsey80 yeah slim noodles! Sorry I was using a generic term that probably isn’t correct! 🙂 It’s great your Fasts went so well last week! Try not to be too hard on yourself about the weekend your fasts still would have made a difference I’m sure, especially with your snowboarding workout which sounds amazing!! 🙂

    Moa don’t worry about Thursday – occasionally it happens to all of us and it’s just not the right day to fast. How did yesterday go?

    I’m with you today!! It’s going OK! Then I’ll make a fast day on Thursday as I’m going out tomorrow and Wednesday. It’s so hard this time of year to find fast days, always something to do it seems like…

    The scale is not really cooperate with me, or, it’s weird, I don’t seem to have the same hikes after the weekends anymore, but it’s not going down either as before, now my weight seems to fluctuate 0,5 kg from high to low, while before it could differ 2 kg from high to low. I’ll see what happens this week 🙂

    Didn’t complete my fast on Sunday either. I don’the know why. It was almost like I wanted to rebel against my own rules. I just felt bored with not eating, thought “I don’t even really WANT to lose weight!” and just started eating and eating. I’ve gained a kilo and a half instead of losing it.

    Frida I completely agree with you about it being hard to find fast days now. Christmas is my favourite time of year and I just want to wear a silly jumper, drink, watch films, go out and drink more! At least it sounds like you are still having losses, just not to the scale you were before? Good luck with your fast tomorrow!

    Sorry about Sunday Moa. I’m right there with you today. 🙂 How is it going so far? I’m ok at the moment but know I’ll be clock watching all day. You were doing so well initially and so I know you can do it. Do you think not eating until dinner time isn’t the right move for you? I know I’d be so tempted to binge everything if I did that.     Buzzkill my fast days haven’t gone well this week either, I was asked at the weekend to do a half marathon in June. I said yes and started training on Monday, not wise for a fast day, felt really sick and light headed.

    I’m thinking I need to split my 500kcals between 3 meals now. just got to find the right food.

    Moa I had that same feeling last week, I felt so guilty the day after, I think sometimes you just needs to let the rebel out so you can regain focus.

    Hi Everyone – I hope you day is going well. Almost Friday! Almost Christmas!!

    Cainsey80 a half marathon wow. That will be a wonderful goal and achievement. Probs not ideal to run on a fast day but sometimes I find I have more energy on fast days and so it’s all about what works for you I suppose. Hope you’re feeling ok now?

    Splitting 500 cals between meals could work! There are loads of sample menus online that are helpful. I always recommend the slim noodles, cauliflour rice or courgetti with pasta sauce as a low calorie lunch with lots of salad leaves. I know I should be recommending mic meals but I eat them on every one of my fasts as it shows you the exact calorie. Marks and Spencers & Tesco do some for under 300 calories and again pile on the salad leaves!

    Moa, I think Cainsey80 is right – sometimes you do just need to have a break from the diet. I know I feel most miserable by the diet when I let it restrain me. Remember your boss. 🙂

    I’m fasting again today, lets see how it goes, haha! Monday I ended up having a meal in the evening, but think I was just over the 500 cal. I’m trying to keep myself busy tonight.

    Are you fasting as well today? Or when will you have/or had your fast day? How did it go?

    It seems like the scale is starting to move for me again, I had the (could have been very bad) urge to stand on it when coming home after work, and it shows only + 0,1 kg from yesterday morning, so hopefully that means a good number for me tomorrow morning 🙂 I’m trying to keep that as my motivator for fasting all night!

    Sunday I had a Christmas meal with the inlaws as they are off to Dubai, monday was my birthday so lots of drinks and food. yesterday was a works christmas party and tomorrow is my other works christmas party lol.

    Cainsey80; I’ve also had a few weeks that have been a bit more difficult than in the beginning! Next week I have something booked every night so won’t be fasting, but will be careful what I eat during the day each day I think and be a bot more free in the evening!

    Hello Ladies, i was wondering if i could join this group!
    I’ve just turned 30, have a 9 month on baby and want to lose 20kg!! i started doing this in November and i was doing so well but as soon as i know that xmas is coming i have gone a little crazy in my eating! so i wanted to start again.
    i am going to the Caribbean next year in June for a holiday and i want to feel good in my skin!!

    today is a fast day however i have been bored at work so i’ve been munching on some honeyed macadamia nuts which a FULL of calories!!! lol so i may need to squeeze in another fast day somewhere this week!
    i will try to still eat healthy for dinner tonight though!

    I have been reading all your weight loses each week or weigh in day but how much have you all lost and how long have you been doing the program?
    i need so motivation/inspiration!!!

    How’s it going?

    I’m fasting today and just got home – had my usual mini binge and ate a couple of crisps but I have cals to spare at the moment so should be ok. Anyone else fasting today or Wednesday?

    I’m pretty anxious to be honest. Only had one fast day last week and seemed to put on a whole pound. I thought I would at least maintain my weight seeing as I was keeping so busy and being fairly good. Sigh. After being a big couch spud over the weekend I’m already dreading Thursdays weigh-of-the-week. Guilt is already seeping in about having time off at Christmas too but I know I need to get over that.

    Ok, sorry – moan over!! 🙂

    Happy belated birthday Cainsey80!! If you can’t eat and have a drink on your birthday and Christmas party when can you? 😉 I think we might have to give ourselves a break over Christmas a little bit. How’s your fast today?

Yes please do join us!:-) I’ve been doing the 5:2 for about three months now and haven’t actually lost that much (about a stone) but seemed to have lost some inches and have got lots of compliments and so hopefully it’s made a difference in other areas! Does make it hard to stay motivated sometimes when pounds aren’t dropping off though. How about you?

    Caribbean holiday sounds lush! It’s great to have a big goal to be working towards but I’m totally with you on the lack of determination over the Christmas break. As long as we are kind to ourselves and spur each other on to be machines in January hopefully we will all be fine! 🙂

    I am doing another fast day today as yesterday kinda went down hill!! i guess that’s the good thing about this ‘diet’ if at first you don’t succeed, try again the next day.

    Buzzkill a stone is very good!! i guess slowly but surely is the way esp if you are losing inches and people are noticing. i think the thing i am going to have to do it not compare myself to others esp other mums who have their pre baby bodies back and just focus on what i am doing 🙂

    Buzzkill a stone is an amazing accomplishment you should be very happy with that.

    I, on the other hand, have decided to start this again in Jan although I haven’t put any weight on. I have so much going on that I don’t want to kid myself into thinking I can do this at the moment and then make myself feel bad when I don’t lol.

    I will be keeping a little eye on what I eat and will still be running but I won’t be fasting as such as I have too many nights out and meals to attend.

    latchia, I agree that it is not wise to compare yourself with others, your slim days will come and you will feel great and look stunning.

    just keep chipping away everyone, we WILL get there 😉

    Hello everyone and welcome to the group latchia!

    Non-fast week is going good so far, had a hiccup Monday when I suddenly had gained 2.5 kg over night, but it was just water retention and I’m now back at a new low, just -0,2kg since last week, but still lower 🙂
    I’m not sure when I’ll be fasting again, next week I’m heading over to France and will spend a week there, and then when I come back it’s just a few days left until I’m leaving for NZ, so I’ll see how it goes. I’ll try to add one fast day here and there I think 🙂

    To answer your question Latchia, I’ve been on the diet since September and have lost around 7 kgs, a lot which I had put on earlier in the year. I had a really rapid loss for a while, but it has stagnated a lot the past time, but I’m not too stressed, only want to lose around 3 more kgs and feel that the loss will come when it comes.

    In case I don’t check in before Christmas I want to wish you all a happy holidays!!

    I have my last fast day before taking a festive break. I’m just trying to stay as busy as possible at the moment!

    latchia how did the fast go yesterday? Totally agree that what’s great about 5:2 is how flexible it is – I’m always moving around which days I fast on to remove myself from temptation as much as possible! 🙂

    I feel exactly the same as you in terms of comparing myself to other people. It’s so hard not to look at other people and feel down. I find it harder to stick to the diet when I’m feeling sad and so you’re completely right that focusing on yourself is the best thing to do. 🙂 Also try not to worry about the other mums it’s usually down to an extremely lucky (alien) metabolism!

    Thanks Cainsey80! It’s hard not to look at a stone as pretty lame when I think about how long I have been doing this now but oh well. I am a short arse and so maybe the smaller weight loss is a bit more noticeable on me! 🙂 Thanks for the encouragement and speak to you again in Jan! 🙂

    Frida that water retention business messes with my brain! Good to hear it was a false alarm! I really admire your attitude of not letting it all stress you out too much. Definitely going to try and adopt some of those vibes in the new year! 🙂

    I’ve just joined this post but have been on and off the fast diet since June 2016. I lost 20lbs in 4 months but then got complacent and following the death of my aunt and Christmas (all excuses, of course!) I’ve put 5lbs back on. So now at 149lbs and my target is 133. Feeling positive as I’ve done so well before, but would like to talk to similar minded people as I’m sure I bore my partner and BF to death! Haha. Hope you had a great Xmas and New Year!     I hope you all had a lovely break! i tried to fast between xmas and new years but that did not work! hehehe
    Had a kinda fast day on the 1st but it has been hard with hubby saying that he is hungry wanting to go out and eat burgers and chips! i was proud that yesterday when he decided to eat McDonald’s for lunch i just had a coffee but today is my first official fast day, it’s almost 12:30pm and i am going fine. it is a lot easier doing this when i am back at work rather then at home when all you think about it food!!

    Happy New Year! I hope you all had a lovely break.

    A lot has changed since I last checked in – hi Latchia, Cainsey80, HevBen83 and Moa – I was part of the chat until the end of November when I dropped out for the festive season – I wish I hadn’t as have put back on 2.5kg of the 3.5kg I lost up until then!!!! Disaster! I had fun though 🙂 (hehe).

    I am doing a cleanse this week (just vegetables, no caffeine, alcohol, glucose, dairy or starch) to try and kick start my metabolism, then fully back on the 5:2 from next week – desperate times! Need to loose 6.5kg (or 1st) by 17th June for my wedding! My first ever cleanse and so far it is just awful! Such a headache – most likely caffeine withdrawal as I am properly addicted to coffee – powering through…

    Just checking in fast between trips, I’ve managed to keep my weight over Christmas so I’m happy with that. We’ll see what 7 weeks on the road will do for me, normally I loose a few kgs when traveling, so I hope that will be the case this time as well!     I’m starting my fast again tomorrow after a massive break. Too scared to weigh myself just yet but know I’ve put on at least a couple of pounds. It’s the price we pay for a lovely break I suppose! Congrats Frida for keeping the weight off – that’s awesome!!

    Ozyrob – how did your first fast go? What meal plan did you end up going with? I usually slim/slender noodle it for lunch with a super low calorie mic meal in the evening (with lots of diet drinks and black coffee in between).

    How is everyone doing this week? So good to have you back Belbop and Cainsey80! 🙂 Completely feel your pain Latchia – my BF is always eating pizza’s infront of me on fast days. I find it easier to eat before him and fast it out until bedtime. 🙂

    Hope everyone has eased back into work and got over the shock of being back last week. I stuck it out on my cleanse for 6 days and have lost 3 pounds as my reward which is good. Starting the 5:2 again today so am right there with you Buzzkill. So determined to do it but hungry already 🙁

    I am also attempting to do a dry January which should cut out a lot of calories from my evening glass of wine on my non-fast days so hoping for speedy results this time around. Might not last the distance – anyone else attempting this!?

    I am still off caffeine and glucose until next weekend, but re-introducing fructose, dairy and starch slowly this week as it is too boring!

    I hope everyone is having a good week? Weirdly feeling ok about being back and work and enjoying the structure but I’m sure this will ware off by this afternoon. 🙂

    I did my first fast in ages yesterday and it went ok. Quite disappointed in myself because it was more like 600 calories in the end. When will I learn? Oh well, I’ll soldier on and hopefully do better when I fast again tomorrow.

    How did your fast go in the end Belbop? You are a superstar for dry january and your cleanses I’m well impressed – what a fresh and healthy start to the new year! 🙂

Fast day today – going ok so far. Have had 250 calories for lunch and am intending to do the same for supper. Is anyone else fasting today? It’s so miserable fasting in the cold but it will be worth it for the summer dresses in 5 months time!

    Just binged read all the posts in this forum and when I got to the end decided to post! My name’s Louise and I’m 23 from Toronto, Canada. I heard of the 5:2 from a friend who lived in the UK for a bit and was raving about it (No one here has ever heard of it here!). Anyways I’m on my second week and hoping to stick with it.

    I want to lose around 10 lbs, which I think is just under a stone? I’ve just felt very gross lately and want to focus on myself this winter. Especially since its so cold here and I just want to stay inside for the next 3 months!

    Today I’m fasting and its going well so far.. I think splitting up my meals throughout the day works best for me. Makes me feel like a normal day :))

    Anyways I feel like I already know all of you after reading the posts- but thanks for letting me join in on all of your journeys!

    I started this diet last week and was doing really well no junk food or overeating but I ate 2 slices of cake and had crisps today have I ruined all the effort from last week??? I feel so bad now. Help

    Welcome louise93! Funny 5:2 isn’t big in Canada – I thought it had gone global! 🙂 Yep, 10 pounds is just under a stone. I like to spread my meals out through the day on fast days as well. How’s it been going this week?

    Ria88 please don’t worry. We have literally all been there and the best thing about 5:2 is you can splurge on some days. If you end up going over on a fast day you can just move it to another day. When’s your next fast day? Mine is tomorrow. 🙂

    kmcall19 – good for you! I tried that and ended up getting to hungry at lunch, so I gave in and had a salad 🙂 Chicken is always a good choice and always fills me up!!

    Buzzkill – thanks for the welcome! I know I had never heard of it before my friend told me! Which seems crazy since most people here are very health/diet focused and this is actually a healthier dieting option 🙂

    Louise98 I hate it when I’m not busy on a fast day too – makes it so much harder. But it also helps me to identify that a lot of the time that I reach for a snack is out of boredom not hunger. I have started making this yummy water to have at my desk – ice cold with cucumber, fresh mint, fresh lemon and fresh lime – so good. I make a huge jug when I get to work and drink one in the morning and one in the afternoon every time I feel like snacking – seems to be working well as citrus fruits are natural appetite suppressors and the water tricks me into feeling full – give it a try!

    Ria88 I have done that so many times – really don’t worry – the point of this diet is to lose weight slowly so it says off and the odd day like that doesn’t matter!

    Buzzkill I’m with you on a fast today. Haven’t eaten anything yet – planning a low cal cauliflower soup for lunch and a small veggie stir-fry in coconut oil for supper – so cold today so wish I could eat more than that – let’s stay strong together though!

    kmcall19 I don’t know how you can last until 4pm without eating anything! Amazing effort! Sure it pays off!

    Yesterday’s fast day was so much easier than I expected I think I’ll need to have chicken on every fast day as it seems to fill me up and stops me from wanting to snack at night.

    Belbop- I don’t know how I managed it either. I just kept myself busy so I wasn’t thinking about the hunger.

    louise93 yeah that is interesting. I guess 5:2 does have a bit of a bad rep as well. When I tell friends about the 500 calorie days they are so shocked lol. But at least it’s a diet that works!

    I have to confess I’m feeling a bit blue about inches and pounds gained from my 5:2 break over christmas. I know I just have to look forward now and hopefully in a few weeks I will be in a better position but I always find it harder to stay motivated when I’m feeling down.

    Anyway, fast is going ok so far. 200 calories down, low calorie drinks and a small dinner to go before an early night I think! I’m staying strong with you Belbop!

    Great tip about the citrus water. I’m with you guys, it’s so much harder to stay on track when it’s quiet at work. That’s why I can never fast on non work days.

    kmcall19 awesome work on the fast indeed! Chicken is definitely our friend. 🙂 I’ve been trying to go vege most days from now on but it’s weirdly difficult on fast days. Chicken definitely keeps you more filled up and tasty too.

    Side question – Has anyone tried weight watchers before? Thinking of following that method on non-fast days instead.

    Im fasting today, so heres to hoping I have a bit of work to do at work to keep me occupied! I went out last night with work so Im already feeling crappy, but trying my hardest not to give in and buy a giant coffee and bagel.

    So far I’ve had two scrambled egg whites with some ketchup and tea, with a macro noodle and veggie mix for lunch and possible soup and chicken (haven’t decided) for dinner.

    I’m not fasting at the moment, but I’m watching what I eat, and with the help of all the walking/hiking I’m doing here in nz I can feel that I’ve probably lost some (or at least inches) 🙂 will be interesting to see what the scale says when I’m back end of February!
