  • Day 11…..Florida….. NFD

@lany36….. if I can honest for a moment, I have always been a shoe fan. It’s really nothing for me to walk into any store and walk out with two or three new pairs. The very good part of this is, I have little feet which means I can also shop in the kids department. Then, a few years ago, I found out that shoes get discounted drastically when only the very large and very small sizes are left….. winner, winner chicken dinner! Well for me at least.
Since we live in such a warm climate, without over doing it I probably have 30/35 pairs of sandals, a couple dozens pairs of sneakers, only a couple pairs of boots and about a half dozen heels. Six or seven pairs that I haven’t even worn yet still in the box.
All in all, I feel no shame in being a shoe hoarder…… all though I do feel bad for those souls who have to wear the same pair of shoes day in and day out!

@saffy420……oh, my friend…. I could not be happier for you! My heart did flips of joy while reading your posts!
Your story is one of the reasons, I stress that we should not be so dependent of the numbers on the scale. In reality, we should for at least this WOL, use our clothes size for true perception of the success we are having! Congrats, my friend! Your are beautiful inside and out!

I did mange yesterday to get nearly all my chores done. I worked on canning some of my dried herbs but stopped at the oregano because it was so strong, I received a head ache from all that hard work. I’m going to work on the parsley today in hopes the aroma of that is not as strong.
Then the OH, says the termite guy, is coming on Monday. Just to clear up any thoughts, we don’t have termites but we do live in a wood structure in a state famous for termites. Our house is very old and most houses in the state out made off concrete. So to keep our home owner insurance, we must have an termite inspection once a year. Apparently, from what I’m told this is the time of year they are most active. We been here 10 years with no signs, so I’m confident our inspection will go off with out a hitch! But this means, I’ve only got one day to clear out the closet! Our closet has the only access point to the crawl space under the house, so thus the work, I must do!

Okay, I think I’m at the point of just rambling now! So, I’m gonna hit the road!

Do you think some where in the world there is a Kung-fu fighting convention? Where all the Kung-fu fighters get together and show off their lighting fast kicks!

    Day 11 USA-WA NFD
@saffy420 What a great story about your dress purchasing adventure. Congrats gratis and I’m glad you shared that happy moment!

@jarbia I’m glad you shared about losing your way and now finding your way back. It’s the one thing that happens to most all of us in some way, at some point, and the collective support when we are ready to hit the “reset” button is so valuable.

I am also enjoying all of the darken story shares. Good to have gardening inspiration (double bonus to this group!).

My weekend has not been well controlled food-wise. Both of our kids are home so we went out and enjoyed a lovely meal,(probably the least controlled I’ve had in awhile). Today we are planning on going to see “Wonder Woman” so we’ll all share a bag of popcorn, but when you have a 19 year old 6’2″ lean son involved in the share, it doesn’t go too far!

Planning on weighing in the weekend damage and resetting tomorrow… Until then, will simply enjoy the full house and catching up with our amazing kiddos (yes, I’m a proud mama!).

    Day 11 – USA (Illinois) – FD

Going to be better controlled today with a 600 calorie day, well, almost a FD. I have some leftovers to eat up, but will control myself on the wine and snacks.

@jarbia – I have to agree with you on the age (and being female) issue. I turned 69 in May, and those pounds just would not leave until I seriously followed 5:2 starting in March 2016. But 35 pounds gone later, I am on maintenance of 6:1. YOU can do this too. It’s not the end of the world.

Off to play piano at church on a hot and humid day here.

    Onward and downward!

Day 11, Rocky Mountains, US, NFD/CD

    Hi all,
I love this forum and all your posts, dear fellow fasters and virtual friends!

It is my morning routine reading all your posts with my coffee. I am looking forward to it when I go to bed at night. It is informative, funny, interesting and helpful for my own journey. I am very happy and thankful to have found this WOL/WOE and all of you!😊🌺😊🌼😊

Now off for a hike with my dog and DH.
    Have a great Sunday everyone!
    Onwards and downwards!⚘⚘⚘

    Day 11 – USA – NFD

Day 10 Chicago, Illinois USA – NFD Weigh in at 140 pounds
    Day 11 – NFD

    third post.
@flourbaby I know how you must have felt in February!
Just got back from dinner and am virtually laying horizontal to type.
Have not eaten so much in ages – and it is still a lot less than 12 months ago.
Had slow cooked lamb shanks and veggies – so tender and delicious and then ….
DH convinced me to share a dessert and I chose the Bakewell tart. I’ve always wanted to taste one and so tonight I did. And it … was…. SOOOOO….DELICIOUS….
But added to a main course and 2 glasses of wine….
    DEFINITE FD tomorrow.

    Day 11, Newcastle UK, FD

I had absolutely no idea just how much pressure I was feeling about my Dad’s house situation until it lifted yesterday. I am delighted to tell you that the bungalow we went to view, just two roads away from us, is perfect and my Dad had his offer accepted just 3 hours later. The upside of his situation is that as of Tuesday he is a cash buyer and can move very quickly. Ironically, this bungalow has been on the market for months and whilst many people have viewed it, they were put off by the large gardens (it’s a corner plot). My Dad had said quite clearly to me back in March that he did not want a corner plot so I discounted this one from our search. Then he tells me last Tuesday (when everything went pear shaped on the property he was meant to buying) “there’s a nice looking corner plot near you” Aghhhhhh!! Never mind, it’s all worked out and I’m delighted because a) I will have my Dad so close by and b) the gardens are gorgeous and have been very well maintained, so I shall enjoy looking after them.

Of course yesterday’s FD, that had been going so well, went flying out of the window as wine and cheesecake followed by nuts and dark chocolate featured in my celebrations. But I don’t care. Today I woke up feeling like the world has been lifted from my shoulders and my mojo is back 🙂

@Saffey420 – sounds like your weekend with friends and dogs and a very happy shopping trip has been a total success. You were not boring in the least – I’m so pleased you shared your happiness with us – because that’s the kind of inspiration we all thrive on.
    @bigviking – congrats – you’re doing sooooo well.
@flourbaby – thanks, and whilst my success was short lived lol, I’m sure you will completely understand why. Reset button well and truly pressed today. OH is going to finish off the open bottle of wine tonight and hide the other bottle I bought.
@pashaw – no sorry needed – you are an inspiration to be achieving what you are in difficult circumstances – hugs to you and OH.
@debster251 – you’re having a lovely weekend and should enjoy your wine guilt free. The wagon awaits for tomorrow.
@redrockgirl302 – Looking forward to hearing how your continuing journey with 800BSD goes this week.
@songbirdme – hahah – did you let her into your secret??
@mogaman – Well I can certainly empathise with you. My problem is bingo wings which I believe are a hereditary thing as much as anything else. I am considering surgery but only if I can get to my goal weight and maintain for at least 4 months. So I’ll see what the situation is in Nov/Dec. We can all use clothes to disguise certain issues (as we see them) but I love wearing sleeveless dresses and tops and it does get me down.
@rainbowsmile – my goodness it sounds like you’re having a rough time – maybe a visit to the Docs might be on the cards?? Do take it easy and hope you are on the mend very soon.
@Imrenfrey – there’s definitely been something in the air this week – maybe pre-election nerves? Having watched the political programmes this morning I’m as worried as the next person about our future and all this talk about hard and soft brexit. Whatever any of our politicians want, the EU have categorically stated that we can not cherry pick. We’re either out or in. Full stop. I think the situation is so serious that they really ought to consider a cross party coalition and put the country ahead of their individual and individual party goals. All the best for a good week this week.
@bert1802 & @lany36 – I’m curious – have you ever parted with any shoes and if so, did you regret it? Only that I’m hanging onto a pair of tap shoes that I’ve had for 27 years and whilst I have no intention of tapping again – I just can’t bring myself to part with them.
@awilson – you sound strong and positive – good on ya!
@lilymartin – that was a truly depressing report you shared. Once again we must be mindful to count our blessings and pray for those poor souls who are suffering. Our media have been so caught up in the election that there has been no report here in the UK – not that I have seen and I’ve been pretty glued to the TV this week.
@annemarilyn – a very respectable and consistent loss 🙂 I ditto your, @lindasue‘s and @sirisan‘s sentiment about this forum.
@vegangirl – preplanning is a great tactic and obviously paying off for you – have a great week.
@onahealthyhigh – you have my total empathy on wine and snacking. I hope your walk today was wonderful and sunny.
    “It’s how you move your hands” – @ashwpz – I like it! and @bigbooty‘s 2 rules…
I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying your holiday and your rare ice cream treats @happymargo – just love the flexibility of our WOL.
    @songbirdme – interesting….. healthy wine…..
    What delightful pictures you describe @fatrabbit & @bert1802 🙂
Of course you can ask your question – any question – on this forum @chocolatemilkshake. I was going to direct you to @simcoeluv‘s post on TDEE but I see you’ve had good advice already. All the best and I look forward to reading of your progress.
@jarbia – you know you are not boring us – sharing your thoughts is what this forum is all about. On the contrary your story will resonate with others and your determination to keep going is so motivating. Yes – good luck to all of us!!!
It’s so reassuring to hear that those in maintenance still face the same blips as those of us still working towards our goals. That was a lovely quote @at and no way am I quitting.
    And @bert1802 – I’m absolutely certain there is….

The sun is shining through some dark clouds and it’s very windy. We’re heading out with our lovely old dog for a walk and to watch a cruise ship leave the Tyne.

Enjoy the remainder of your weekend friends. And…..keep on keeping on…….

    Second post
After reading the shoe confessions, I am truly am a novice. Next time I try on a pair and hesitate, I shall think you all and just buy them! 👠
@saffy420 What a wonderful story. You should take your friend shopping with you more often. I know for a fact that when you put that outfit on, you’ll be 10 ft tall and feel a million dollars. Rightfully so. Enjoy every moment.
@jarbia As Coda would say, there is no failure here. You’ve been ‘maintaining’ not putting on lots of weight. You CAN do this. Holding your hand across the Irish Sea. Xo
@at you hit the nail on the head! I don’t drink at all during the week, but do love a good G & T or a nice crisp glass of wine on a Friday and Saturday evening. Mmmm.🥂
@bert Everybody was Kung-fu fighting, it was a little bit frightening!

    Day 11 – UK – NFD

@awilson – glad you found the primal potential podcasts helpful. Some of them really can get you in the right frame of mind to make good choices. I’m slowly working my way through them when I’m stuck in the car driving.

@staffy 420 – what a wonderful story, so happy for you. I too am getting into some of my clothes that haven’t fitted for ages now and it is such a good feeling. I’m no were near target but I don’t hate what I see in the mirror anymore and that means so much.

@at & @krisnia – that’s what life is all about, enjoying these precious times with family and friends when we can

Hope all you lovely people are having a great weekend, I have indulged a bit with no guilt and look forward to 3 good fast days this week to rid myself of another couple of pounds hopefully, thanks to this wonderful way of life,

    Day 11, Gozo Malta, nfd

Ate out at lunch today. Tomorrow will be a fast day for me.

Onwards and downwards. Have a great Sunday everyone

    Day 11 Oregon USA NFD
My 2nd FD was only slightly successful, I ate about 800 cal. rather than 500. No weight loss and I’m feeling a bit discouraged.

@saffy420 – love your story about dress purchase, so happy you are feeling and looking good. What a wonderful reward for healthy eating and all your hard work. Congratulations!!

    Day 11 – USA – NFD

Second post – had to run out this morning, so did not have a chance to report weekly weigh-in. Today’s weight: 178.4, down 2 lbs. from last week, woo hoo! And 2 inches lost total so far last week. Doing a lot of yard/garden work, so lifting and moving a lot. I know I could be further along at a more rapid pace if it wasn’t for the dern beer, but I enjoy it and I’m enjoying watching my shape change again back to what it was. I still have a long way to go (150), but I’m determined.

Day 11 Massachusetts USA NFD I had a yen for a cheeseburger for lunch. I ate 2/3 of it. That’ll be my big meal for the day. Tomorrow will be a FD again, and I have to fit one in Thursday as next weekend is a family wedding. 😱 I’m re-reading Michael’s book as another way to sustain my motivation. I’m about 2 months from my goal, although I feel I should be there by now. I’m sure a lot of us go through that. But. I know for I’ll never again let myself put it back on! Greetings to all.

    Day 11, Munic, Germany, NFD

Day 12 – NZ – FD (woohoo – back on track!)

All other days this month were NFDs 🙁

    Day 11 USA NFD
I didn’t eat until 6:00 PM last night and then had a full meal, Chinese take-out and a couple pieces of fruit later. Lost .6 pound which brings me to 148 pounds.

Very stressful days yesterday and today with a sick cat who is nearing the end of her days. Very sad.

Day 11 – SW WA USA – NFD

So glad the sun is popping back out again. I keep track of when I see the sun on the calendar. June has been a strange month in our area but what I do appreciate is that there has been at least a sun break every day! Sun really helps me thrive.

@fatveganchickslims – BTW, I saw all of your posts. It is strange how sometimes that happens. Sometimes I think some thing didn’t post & so I try again and will get a msg that I already posted that. What kind of work do you do if you’re able to pick up extra shifts?

@Taragan – Is Ramadan 24 days? I was wondering because you were posting b24b. What is your fasting window during this time?

@steve toon taxi driver – hooray for you, only 5 lbs from your goal!

@saffy420 – What a lovely friend who would encourage you to try on the dress that ended up really encouraging you! Thank you for sharing the experience with us.

@at – thanks for the reminder through your quote. I jotted it down because I would much rather be where I am now than where I was.

@krisnia – I’m glad you’re enjoying your sons. Let us know how you like Wonder Woman.

@metatauta – another couple of pounds kicked to the curb. Yay!

    Day 11, Northumberland UK, NFD

Better control today and aquafit this evening so feeling a bit better.

@strawberriesandcream I totally agree about this election. Once again the inadequacy of first past the post have been highlighted, along with the fear many seem to have of coalitions or minority government. Shame on our ‘leaders’ that they cannot behave like grown ups and realise that they should be thinking of the best interests of the whole country rather than the minority who voted for them. That and clinging on to position for their own ego. No wonder so many do not vote still.

@onahealthyhigh thanks for the reply, I think I’m probably over thinking it at the moment. I’ve been really strict this whole week and even inadvertently did a 23 hour fast today…. weigh day tomorrow. X

Day 11– Colorado USA– NFD, still on vacation in Orlando!

Oh! My wagon is so far off the rails!!
Allowed myself my only ice cream of the year 🍦 (never, ever bought at home.). Then continued on vacation with: wine, cheeseburger, fried mozzarella cheese, chips/French fries, wine, Cheetos and apple fritter!🍔🍟🍩🍷🧀 OH MY! 😳 Wait. Did I mention wine? 🍷

Friends, it is a good thing vacation is only 4 & half days long… I’m actually looking forward to getting home, back to work (shocker!) and Fasting Day’s!! It will feel fantastic to clean up my diet & Fast again.

Love you guys! Chat again soon.

    (2nd post)
Luckily though, we are walking in excess of 10k (6+ miles) each day., Plus, swimming. Tons of exercise. And beautiful sunshine.

    Day 12/NFD/Melbourne Australia

Postponing today’s planned FD till tomorrow.

    Day 11, Guildford UK, WFD

Had a couple of bites during the day plus a couple cups of coffee with milk. Total 200 cals.

    Day 12, Guildford UK, FD

My calorie expenditure low so taking consumption low to match.

    Body temp high though.

Day 11, Mountaintop PA USA, NFD

Haven’t posted much. Just into the groove of the 2 FD’s per week on Monday and Thursday and CD’s on the NFD days. The only difference between the two is that we have a sweet potato with dinner and I enjoy a Cosmo. I walk every day up the mountain trail and back for 4 miles of invigorating exercise and a 400 calorie deficit. Takes care of the Cosmo.

I have been losing 1.5 to 2 lbs per month since starting Fast 5:2 in November. Now under my original goal but hanging in to see if I can manage a slightly lower goal. I am 70 years young and am thrilled with the IF benefits. FD’s are always a great cleansing day and the day after energy is through the roof. Slow and steady is my MO. 45 pounds down over last 3.5 years with Fitbit walking and the last 10 have been with Fast 5:2.

There is no need for multiple water fast days in a week for me. The basic plan is just fine.

Always enter on the spreadsheet. So much easier for the monthly host. All of your comments are very heart felt. Rejoice in your achievements.

    Day 12 – Brisbane Australia – FD

    Day 10 & 11 NFD

Fast day today. Finding it a lot less daunting & easier to achieve than last week.

Have planned a dinner for hubby & the kids that they love but I’m not a huge fan of, so I don’t feel as if I’m missing out.

Still trying to find my feet with the whole 5:2 WOL. Everyone seems to have their own interpretation, which I find confusing as a newbie.

As I understand it, MM’s plan is to restrict your calorie intake to 1/4 of your TDEE for 2 days of the week, & then eat within your TDEE while making healthy choices, for the remaining 5 days. However, all that I seem to keep reading are posts stating that people are fasting on 0cal for up to 3 or 4 days a week (sometimes at a time) & encouraging others to join them & do the same!! Add LCHF & 16:8 into the mix & it all begins to border on obsession & insanity!!

Each to there own, but I don’t believe that this is healthy behaviour, & I don’t believe that this is the diet or lifestyle that MM is promoting with 5:2. If anything, this will all lead to a very unhealthy relationship with food & eating disorders!!

    Rant over.

Have a great day everyone!! 🙂

    Hello everyone!

Finished 4 FD in a row from Thursday to Sunday last week!

Also managed to squeeze in some exercises during those days. My typical exercise regime is 45 mins treadmill, 15 mins bicycle and 30 mins strength training. I also learned that Jakarta has gyms with excellent quality, and most of them are (strangely) located in high-end malls. The ones that I go to now has spacious electric sauna free of charge and I have been using it for 30 mins after each exercise session. At membership fee of roughly USD 45 per month, I’d say that’s a good bargain!

Weighed in this morning and I am down 2 lbs from last week, hence total 9 lbs lost since I started the program back in May challenge.

Today is NFD as there will be another breakfasting event with a customer.
My last meeting today should end at 3pm though and I am looking forward to try a Body Combat class before breakfasting event.

    Regards,
    Allie

    Still day 11 –

@steffieagle – I love your steady, consistent literally walking out this 5:2 WOL and getting the results you want; both you and your husband.

@queenbee20280 – I think it’s interesting that you posted right after Steffieagle. She is the example of following the 5:2 pretty much as written. Then right after you allie123 posted about having completed 4 FDs in a row. I can see why you might wonder. Everyone’s journey is quite unique. I do appreciate you sharing your thoughts. Both Steffieagle & your thoughts, are a good reminder to me to keep steady & not get too crazy. I found when I went too many FDs in a week my thinking was getting a little off. Health is the goal.

Day 12 country west Australia much needed FD

@strawberries and cream. So glad you got your father’s accommodation sorted and so close and in a lovely garden. Doesn’t get too much better! Also thank you for herding us cats together for the month.
@alisonw. I too have felt despondent at times with apparently doing all the ‘right things’ and not losing weight but if you concentrate on all the other benefits and keep on keeping on you will eventually get off the plateau/over the mountain/ on the scenic route.
I have been stuck for months with the scales bouncing up and down but glad that my gut is thanking me.🙂And I’m hopefully warding off dementia and lessening the risk of certain cancers etc.
@queenbee20280, I agree that it can be confusing with the many variations people do with this WOL.
For me, I stick to 2 non- consecutive FDs on which I stick to 500 calories or under. I simply can NOT do b2bs ( 2 FDs in a row) as I get very bad migraines and I think they are due to low blood sugar levels.
This has happened consistently for many years.
On NFDs I try to stick within my TDEE ( roughly 1500 calories).
Many people have tweaked the basics and do things differently. I suggest you stick with 5:2 as Dr M developed and keep to that no matter what others are doing.
Some who have tweaked things have been doing 5:2 for quite a while and can cope with other versions.
We are all different but for 5:2 to be a sustainable WOL which your are still doing next week/year/decade it has to be something which works for YOU>
    Hope this helps.🙂
@saffy40, such a good story and feeling. I went to dinner last night and wore a dress for the first time in 12 months!! and my friends noticed and commented! The scales are not showing a loss but my body shape has changed.
To all our UK friends, I am not sure what to think about the election and Brexit. I have some UK friends who were thrilled at the thought of leaving the EU and others who wanted to remain. I guess we ( in OZ) don’t really understand the politics and consequences of the decision.

    Go well all.

    Day 11 USA NFD
Pool time with friends this weekend! Didn’t dare go to the pool last year. Glad to get back to one of my favorite pastimes. Thanks to the group for the encouragement! Hope Monday is a great start to a successful week! 😊

    2nd post
@queenbee20280 very interesting comments. You’ll find many of us, now maintaining, reached our goal following the basic 5:2 suggested by Dr Moseley and did so by focusing on the health benefits and not weightloss. Weightloss was always the bonus.

The beauty of 5:2 or intermittent fasting is its flexibility. For me this means I avoided the ‘obsessions’ that came with other weightloss plans. I cannot focus on calories. Endlessly counting calories usually tips me over and I regain. Eating to TDEE on NFDs would defeat me. Therefore I’ve tweaked my personal plan to include 16:8. Eating breakfast has never been a priority. This combined with a Mediterranean style diet and watching portions has helped me stay below goal weight for over 2 years. I also eat 500 calories on FDs. 1/4 TDEE would be less than 300 calories for me. Something I’ve never been able to do. I am 65. Occassionally life gets in the way and I am unable to fast on certain days and therefore seek the help and support of fellow ‘pocketeers’ to do a b2b.

Since Dr Moseley wrote ‘The Fast Diet’he has written ‘The Blood Sugar Diet’ and ‘The Clever Guts Diet’. Some of the forum members follow 5:2 combined with elements from the other books – especially a combination of 5:2 and 800 calories (suggested in Dr Moseley’s BSD). I’m not a fan of liquid only fasts but others find eating at all on fast days releases the ‘hunger dragon’ and choose not to eat. Often members have a date by which they’d like to lose a certain amount of weight or have plateaued or just want to shake things up and hence do ADF or several fast days in a row but overtime most return to a basic 5:2 tweaked to fit their personal circumstances.

What is important is finding a way of eating that is sustainable for each of us. I couldn’t agree more that obsession is self defeating.

    Day 12, Germany, FD

This month has turned out to be a disaster. Haven’t fasted at all. However having read you post @onehealthythigh and you have just jogged my memory and my conscience! I have the blood sugar book so I will read it again. Perhaps 800cals will enable me to get back into the swing of things a little easier. I have only just seen the “The Clever Guts Diet” advertised has anyone got feedback on it. I am coeliac and dairy intolerant so maybe I should read it!

    Day 12 UK FD 🌈

Been struggling lately, water dragon 💦🐉always, and late night eating dragon 🐲. Going to focus on getting these things under control.

Was going to have ONE relax day a week, that was Friday/Saturday and Sunday this week???? Back to it Monday morning. Focus!!!!

Good luck all, still doing the squats as I read, a little behind in posts, which eventually will lead to a little behind 😂😂😂but determined to read them all. Gym visits also doing well, I have some parts of this way of life down. Work in progress. Keep on keeping on. 👊🏻

    Have a good day/week all.

    Day 12, UK, NFD

87.9kg on the scales this morning. 4.3kg / 9.5lb down on the month.

    Day 11 FD London
Only my 3rd fast day this month – I’m finding FDs are ok when I’m in the offfice, but I travel a lot for work and I need to develop better routines for these weeks. Still, managed to lose 1.5kg so far this month, which is grea!

    Day 11 | London, UK | FD

The less I say about curry and shake shack over the weekend the better, let’s just glide into this FD Monday. We go on holiday on Thursday, a road trip from London to Denmark. I’m hoping Denmark will be too expensive to eat 😉

    Have a great week everyone.

    Day 12 Newcastle UK FD.

    Day 12 FD NZ

@staffy40 I could not be happier for you. It sounds like such a wonderful experience and I love hearing about people’s moments of triumph. I’m eager to celebrate success with people so please don’t apologise for sharing. These moments of happiness are what help to spur us all along. Some days we need each other to provide a sense of solace and compassion, somedays we need a push to demotivated and other wonderful days we need a place to share our joy and accomplishment. All are important functions of the forum and I’m so glad we could share you joy today.

As for me, I’ve competed my FD with Tempeh, cauli rice and brocolli with a crispy Granny Smith apple for dessert.
I probably could have gone without the apple but I’m doing a btb today and tomorrow which I’ve never actually done with under 500cals twice in a row so I thought I’d make use of the full 500 today in an effort to ensure I’m not ravenous and unable to complete Tuesday’s fast. I do think I’ll be looking forward to breakfast Wednesday morning though. I’m having visions of Greek yoghurt, mixed berries and a combo of raw almonds, sunflower and pumpkin seeds.
I really need to get this last 4kg shifted and that means more focus on my NFDs and hopefully a little kickstart from a btb and one more FD Thursday.
I need some sort of mental lightbulb moment for my NFDs, logically I know they need controlled better as I’m really just maintaining at the moment, but whatever my trigger point is that shifts my thinking away from allowing too much relaxation on NFDs because I had a good FD just doesn’t stay switched on.
I feel like a faulty circuit, I get the connection but I just can’t keep the switch on long enough to make progress.
I hope by writing it here often enough the repetition (although boring for you all) might finally penetrate the dark corners of my brain and flip the switch.

    DAY 12 – UK – FD

Well did really try yesterday…but….as it was such a lovely afternoon here hubby and I decided to go to a charity Hospice event at a nearby beautiful country house which is now the headquarters of a Buddhist sect. They kindly often offer up the grounds to particular charities throughout the year. The house and gardens were stunning, and it was a really interesting afternoon. Apart from the “country” set, it was used by Royalty, members of the political classes and World leaders in times of crisis when they needed somewhere to meet. Winston Churchill spent time there, and planted a weeping cedar tree to commemorate a Lost World. I felt like planting another one yesterday!! Instead, I stoically supported the Charity by buying a delicious Cream Tea -so another FD sabotaged. But a good cause, and support for a lot of good hardworking charitable folk who spend a lot of their time thinking of others.

The Buddhists are running an open evening “Introduction to Buddhism” soon …I am tempted to go along.

Day 12– Colorado USA–NFD in Orlando.

Can’t believe I’m on vacation & able to keep up with this fast moving thread. It’s only because OH is snoring up a storm in our lovely hotel room, so I end up getting up at 2:30 or 3 AM. While OH continues sawing logs, I open my iPad & sip a hot plain, black decaf and enjoy catching up with my global friends!

OH is at his goal weight now (he looks fab a full 28 lbs down, plus at last dr’s physical all his lab markers were improved to Good or Excellent categories!)
Even he is hitting the dreaded “Food Wall” this vacation. 😜 After dinner last night, we both looked at each other & agreed, “Enough.” When we returned to our suite, the remaining apple fritter & Cheetos hit the bin!

We decided on our final vacation day, together we’d skip breakfast. Then only order one lunch to split (he’ll get a bigger portion as I really won’t need but a few bites.) I’ll order something lighter at dinner off the starter/ appetizer menu, skip the main course altogether. This scaling back will help me roll into my return home …with a much anticipated Fast Day. My tummy will thank me!

    Day 12, Newcastle UK, FD

Good afternoon/morning all. I’ve just been in and amended my details on the tracker for the umteenth time this month. I did not achieve an FD yesterday. However, after my ‘strange’ week, I got on the scales this morning for the first time in ages and found I am just 1.6lbs up on my last and lowest weigh-in. After reading posts this morning, I have decided to have two separate FDs this week and really concentrate on controlled NFDs (no more than TDEE). Fortunately, I should be able to work this week and that always keeps my mind occupied, not to mention the exercise.

@metatauta – I’m with you on the beer – the reason my FD yesterday turned into an NFD. But you know what? I’m never going to change that – going to the pub after our dog walk is part and parcel of an enjoyable weekend for us. So long as I get back into my healthy routine of no alcohol during the week, I will be happy.
Sorry to hear about your cat @califdreamer – hugs for you x
    @triplet – yay!!!
    @happymargo – lol – you’re having fun 🙂
What is a Cosmo @steffieeagle? Lovely motivating post – thank you.
@fatteacher – great to hear – well done you. And great progress for you @allie123.
    @pamie & @lynzm – just keep on keeping on….. 🙂
@rhubarbbutnocustard – good to hear from you and great progress, well done.
    @jmh44 = lol!
You know you’re not boring us @lany36 – you’re sharing your thoughts and we are better off for it. You know what you want, you know what to do and you’re achieving good results. We all get stuck from time to time but keep at it. Are you doing 16:8 or even 18:6 on NFDs. I’ve certainly found two meals a day vs three has made a big difference for me.
@onahealthyhigh, @lilymartin and @annemarilyn – helpful and interesting comments in response to @queenbee20280‘s post. I love that people can be very candid on our forum as this kind of conversation/observations are so helpful for all of us. I’ve altered my plans for this week on the basis of reading your posts this morning. Back to basics.

Have a super week everyone – Together we’re Stronger.

Day 11 NFD and Day 12 FD Post 1 Huntingdon UK

Took part in a Fitbit challenge over the weekend… did 40,000 steps on Saturday followed by 30,000 steps on Sunday and now on a FD today ….. am really hoping this is going to pay off on the scales in a bit !!! Think I am changing shape and definitely have more energy. I wouldn’t have reached that step total previously as I wouldn’t have had the energy or the mental drive to believe it achievable.

I’m just going to have to keep on keeping on !!!!

Always good to hear everyone’s news even though I haven’t had much of a chance to read it over the weekend!!!

    Day 12 UK NFD

178.8lbs. Good fast yesterday. It felt so nice to be empty after the way I ate on Sat. I don’t think I can only do two fast days. I am struggling to find the right balance. I also think myvfour hour window on NFDs might actually be encouraging me to overeat as greed kicks in despite my not actually feeling hungry and I eat more than I actually want because I won’t be able to later. But if I can eat later Indo, there is a reason for the window. Maybe extending it to six hours will help. And fasting whenever I have heavy work to do where eating would be too uncomfortable, so Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday. And abandon Saturday to inevitable relaxation of the rules, make it cheese day perhaps. I really want to find a good pattern so I can stop thinking about what to do all the time. I am boring myself let alone all of you!

    Day 10, Belfast, NFD
    Day 11, Belfast NFD
    Day 12, Belfast, FD

Busy weekend, painting our bedroom. I hope that counts as a bit of a work out! But my mum left us some of her amazing shortbread and I nearly ate the whole tub. Terrible behaviour. Going to try and have a sensible week this week.

@Strawberriesandcream thansk so much for all your hard work hosting this month. I’m having trouble keeping up with all the posts but you’ve been so encouraging to everyone. As have you all!

I started a Pocketeers list for today. Apologies if I’ve miised or added anyone by mistake!

    Day 12, Northumberland UK, NFD

More control yesterday and hoping to continue that today. So far Saturday’s massive overindulgence does not seem to have had too much impact other than me feeling hungover all of yesterday morning. Fast day and gym tomorrow will hopefully complete the reset and then I can get back to a normal routine. Just another few pounds and then I can think about maintenance, and let the extra exercise do its work on toning the remaining flabby bits.

@fatrabbit I don’t think you’re boring anyone. Thinking out loud on this forum is therapeutic, and you never know what insight it will trigger from someone else.

    Day 12 – Cumbria UK – FD

    Weight:- 54.7kg/120.6lbs

A very well controlled NFD yesterday after Saturday!!!! 😈

I have decided that for the rest of this June Challenge I’m going to stick to the basic 5:2 plan as this suits me well!
    – Eating my calories in one meal in the evening (but only if I feel hungry/otherwise it will be a low calorie fluid only day – I must listen to my body more!)
    – On my NFDs to follow the 16:8 eating window (2 meals/day) as breakfast has never been appealing to me – I much prefer a brunch ☺️
    – I will continue drinking my 2L of water daily as this is very doable
    – Drink a glass of my homemade milk Kefir before bed as I have found it beneficial. Experts recommend drinking kefir before bedtime for overall health and weight loss. It is at this time of the day many of its beneficial properties are activated:
    – calcium is best absorbed at night;
    – a glass of fresh Kefir before going to bed will allow you to easily empty the bowel in the morning;
    – you will relax and fall asleep due to the amino acid tryptophan, which is contained in it;
    – you will not experience hunger because of its high nutritional value;
    – on an empty stomach lactic acid bacteria are better absorbed and begin their work faster.

@belfastsink – Thank you for starting pocketeers list for today – I’m joining you and the others for a strong day as TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER!

    Day 12, London, UK, FD

Well, NFD yesterday went relatively well, except for the peanut M&M calorie bombs that found their way into my mouth!!! Hey-ho, such is life. I’ll reset with a good FD today.

@at, Thanks so much, I think your quote about ‘desperately wishing to be where I am now’ absolutely hit the nail on the head….. currently patting myself on the back for what I HAVE achieved and where I am NOW!!!!!

Lots of funny one liners making me chuckle this morning!!!!!!

@lynzm……..”a little behind”……too funny! ……..made me think – and now for another episode of ‘Carry On Fasters’ LOL!!!

@jmh44, “I’m hoping Denmark will be too expensive to eat”………….If Only life was so kind!!!!

Saving any pocketeering for B2Bs or more, but have a good FD everyone!!!!

Good Fasting people!!! Keep the faith!!!

    Day 12 I Jo’burg, South Africa I FD

@jarbia you certainly broke your FD for a good cause. Funnily enough, I’m going to a Buddhist Festival in the Lake District, UK end of July and it’s my motivation to get into my 3 pairs of denims before that. We go nearly every year for the last 11 years and I did a retreat there for the whole of January. So I’d like to encourage you to go to the Introduction to Buddhism if you are interested.

I’m actually going to apply for my U.K. Visa this afternoon for our trip. I’m definitely going to the Chippie Bank on Ulverston when I’m there. Nothing like English chips
