  • Day 7 – Scotland – FD
Hello there, I’m back again. I took part in the May challenge but the last few days have been a disaster: in-laws visiting, birthday of my son, my husband left for a working trip of nearly 3 weeks and, of course, the kids got unwell (a virus for my 3 year old, and my baby may have hand, foot and mouth disease). So lots of crying, winging, clinging…and sleepless nights. I binged for several days, eating full packets of biscuits, full bars of chocolate, lots of ready made food from the local deli (their quiches are as heavy as delicious). On Monday I started again, and yesterday I checked my weight. Not at all as bad I thought! In fact, today I have officially reached my goal for the end of May. All considered, I am happy.
Strawberryandcream, I hope you don’t mind I add my name on the spreadsheet without notifying you first. It’s great that we can update it by ourselves. Tomorrow, I will also update my personal tracker.
    Good night all!

    Second post
Talking about language, as a non- mother tongue leaving in the UK I find hilarious reading all our American friends writing “pants” instead of “trousers”. Maybe because I recently potty trained my son, so the word “pants” for saying underwear was used several times every day!

    Second post
Today turned out to be a NFD but has been reasonably controlled with lots of exercise.
The postman brought me a copy of Dr M’s Clever Gut Diet which I am reading now. Also in the package was the Guide to intermittent fasting, so I have that to look forward to.
@jarbia – I’m glad you had a good time. I love Mount Stewart, in fact we were there this weekend before last with my sister. Hope you finally get all your luggage.
@Strawberriesandcream – I hope you get your dad sorted soon. Moving is such a stressful event without having nowhere to go.
@at your programme looks so exciting.
    @songbirdme – I’m so glad you had a good time πŸ˜€
@krisnia and Lilymartin – I’m fed up grazing on the plateau too. Trying to remain very focused.
@yolina I am looking up your podcast. It sounds good. The first thing I do in the morning is to open the iPad … addicted too!
@Iaminthefuturenow: Fasting becomes easier the more you do it. Don’t be scared of hunger. It passes quickly if you distract your attention and drink lots of fluids. Your suggestion of 800 cals is maybe a good one to start. Listen to your body, and you’ll get the hang of it. Good luck!
@rainbowsmile, how rude of the man!
Am packing the caravan for a weekend away although it’s looking like a wet and windy one. The scales were down this morning, so I’ll have to be careful not to sabotage my good work.
    Night night everyone.

    Day 7 FD Glasgow UK
Scales screaming I overdid it last coupe of days at 79.9 kg
Fast day went good albeit prolly overdid my cals a bit. Linda McCartney “pulled pork” burger sorted me out before gym so this plus milk in my tea and yogurt and some nibbles on a watermelon would make prolly ar 700 t 800.
Sooo burger was eaten in a bid not to make an a*** off myself when getting about my newest gym mission i.e. annoying the hell off ppl who want to run and wait on treadmill. And a fat wobble like me walks on it.. slowly.. reading a book… not a care in the world..for an hour… hehehe. I figured out that if I read on my backside I can just as well read while walking since my gym commute is like 2 mins across the road. After testing different speeds I ll stick with 4 km per hour as most pleasurable. 10k + done hope to be able to run within next day or two.
@strawberriesandcream I wish I could do house hunting for your dad if I could it would be the only thing Id do for the rest of my life. hope you will find him a good place he will enjoy for long time to come.

    Day 7 -Montreal – FD

@lumat – funny that to us Americans pants are synonymous with trousers. For me, I actually think men wear trousers and women wear pants. (Although sometimes we call men’s items pants too!) For us “underpants” are what you and your potty training son dealt with!

    Day 8 NZ
I haven’t decided if today is a FD or NFD
We had a very long very late night talk with our son last night. He’s struggling with teenage pressures as Ive already mentioned and last night was crunch time in terms of laying out the full extent of things he has been dealing with.
It was cathartic for him and really healthy for all of us to share and support. I’ve always believed a problem shared is a problem halved, which is part of what I take such great comfort from here. We all share and support, even when it’s just like me today and the real share isn’t fully about 5:2.
But to bring the beginning round to make sense of my post, the resulting late night and Mummy worrries have done a vanishing act on my appetite so I’m just playing along seeing if I get to the point of wanting to eat or not. Really big stress has always ruined my appetite, little irritations send me to the chocolate but this is a big stress situation so I’m journaling my gratitude for small mercies today and focusing on how glad I am that we do support each other and that I know this is temporary. All things pass eventually and I’m looking squarely to the future. He will come through this, my appetite will return and for today that’s enough.
It’s hard to tell a teen that happiness is something you cultivate inside yourself using every available resource and strategy you can find. I believe happiness isn’t waiting outside ourselves or with someone else in the future, it’s here and now and needs nurturing most when you think it’s gone. I’m encouraging him to start a gratitude diary too to shift the focus onto the small things hoping all the little bits of life’s mercy add up overtime to show him the way forward.
Thanks for the opportunity to let this all out. I’ll definitely be fasting tomorrow but today is a mystery day!

    Hello everyone,

    Day 5, Jakarta, NFD
    Day 6, Jakarta, NFD
    Day 7, Jakarta, NFD

    Day 8, Jakarta, FD

Start FD B2B2B from today to Saturday. Wish me luck!

    Regards,
    Allie

    Day 8/NFD/Melbourne Australia

Plagued by internet issues. Thursdays are our busiest days caring for our grandchildren, including sleep overs. I may not have time to catch up. Wishing everyone a peaceful and happy day. Hugs to thosse who are struggling with this WOL or health and life issues.

Hello all day 7 visiting Chicago nfd

Had a fantastic day yesterday with @songbirdme who picked us up from the airport and took us on a guided tour of the city. We went up to the skydeck on the Willis building and then met up with @Chitowngal and had a lovely, healthy, dinner with an excellent choice (Songbirdme) of wine. It was amazing to meet these lovely people. My OH had mentioned that he was the odd one out as he had no handle – I can’t repeat some of the suggestions he came up with lol. Songbirdme has given him his handle so he doesn’t feel left out ha ha.
We spent today with Chitowngal in Lincoln park zoo we then had a bit of retail therapy and finished off with a meal in a Greek restaurant. I would just like to thank both these wonderful people who were once virtual friends and now actual friends for making our visit extra special. xx

    Still Day 7 –

@lany36 – what a wonderful mom you are. I’m glad you have this forum to share. It not only helps you but probably a few other moms.

@coda – so glad you had a great time in Chicago with a couple of forum buddies. Enjoy the rest of your journey!

@rainbowsmile – others have talked of their tummies talking; maybe they’ll pop up and comment. Maybe it wasn’t fun in the moment but it gave me a chuckle as I read.

Day 7 Massachusetts USA NFD Wow, it’s hard to eat healthy on the road! I did my best today- are a good breakfast, skipped the rice at my Mexican lunch, ate
a light (but fried) dinner. Under TDEE. Only one more day of travel then a FD. Good luck my friends!

    Day 8 Shanghai, China
@at , @allie123 , @flourbaby and any other B2Bers, I would be interested to hear why you have opted to do the B2B fast days. I am curious to try and wonder also if I would then be tempted to do 4:3 …

I have been on 5:2 for over 3 months now and am enjoying the routine. It helps me so much that my partner is doing it with me. Yesterday was a FD, however, and for the first time we cracked and had a beer (it was a tough day at work). So, we ate the spiralised veg and thai prawns anyway and have vowed to do a “proper” one on Friday.

Going to make shakshuka (a la Hairy Bikers) again on Friday – it’s great to find a new meal to put in the rotation and this is my new one.

@lagrandebouffe I’ve completed a couple of b2bs recently. Mainly because my life has been a little topsy turvy. Completing b2bs early in the week has suited my schedule. I’m maintaining having lost 42lbs doing the basic 5:2 and changing a few bad habits. I prefer fasting on Monday and Thursday usually. I don’t believe there are any benefits to b2bs. I certainly haven’t lost more weight doing so and never felt the need to do 4:3. I do practice a form of 16:8 and eat two meals daily as part of maintainance.

    Day 8 | London, UK | NFD

Morning everyone, hope you are well. I need to catch up on posts, hopefully today in work, ssh don’t tell my boss πŸ˜‰

Thursday is dinner night with mum, so I am going for a 16:8. I have found that I naturally don’t need breakfast anymore, but from what I’ve read that doesn’t seem unusual. Aiming to get a lunchtime 5k run in today.

    Have a good day all.

I had a fast day Monday
Going to do another one today.
I ate at 9pm last night so when am I allowed to eat today? Still learning the ropes.x

    Day 8
    West Midlands UK
    FD

    Day 7 UK NFD

179.4lbs. Thought it would be up this morning as I couldn’t resist seconds last night but I appear to have got away with it.

That meet up in Chicago made me rather nostalgic. I am very fond of that city although I haven’t been there for over twenty years.

Day 8 NFD country West Australia.
Note to self : I can NOT do b2b FDs with mainly fluid only.
I had 2 really good FDs b2b and only ate a very small chicken and spinach salad last night.
I could feel the makings of a headache lurking at the back of my head but ignored it and thought I could sleep it off .
Alas woke at 5 am feeling as if I had been hit on the head with a cricket bat ( well, I never have been hit on the head but I imagine the pain would be similar to the migraines I get.) Had to take pills which I loathe doing but am working today so it was pills or cancel work.
Over time I think it is the low BSLs which are responsible for said headaches.
As soon as I eat something sweet I start to feel better. I tried chicken and salad for lunch today but the ache persisted until I ate a few mouthfuls of cheesecake ( bakery directly opposite my office and the only sweet thing without lashings of cream!).
Feeling somewhat better but still a bit ‘ doughy’. Have to really concentrate for clients.
Out to dinner tonight so will try to stay within TDEE ( cheesecake notwithstanding!)

Day 7 NFD London – not a good Day really really craved bread for some reason! I’ve given myself a good talking to as I have done so well so far and I don’t want to ruin it!
It’s GCSE A level time at work and so stressful all round. Teenagers having melt downs in front of you is not good, so been having a glass or 2 of wine. That’s stopping again! It doesn’t help you sleep or worse is the next morning when you look at the scales. Like all plans if you don’t follow it 100% it doesn’t work!

Day 8 FD today to get back on track πŸ‘πŸΌ

Day 8, UK, Northumberland, NFD 16:8

Good NFD yesterday other than some late night chocolate indulgence, still under TDEE but really should have remembered to close the eating window. Been a bit headachy the last few days and not quite sure what to blame it on, but I do have the start of a cold (thanks kids) so it could just be that. Evening meal is planned so I know how many calories I have to play with today and going to try to stick to an 8 hour window as that worked so well on holiday.

Thanks for your response, @onahealthyhigh . Congratulations on the 42lbs! And all the best with maintaining.

I had been doing really well with a Tuesday and Thursday rotation, but had to sacrifice that and, though there is no danger of giving up the program, I am interested in looking at how other people work things into their working and family lives. I think I would get really tired by the end of day 2 of a B2B. But I quite like the ascetic idea – you know, taking the beast by the horns!

I also have stopped breakfast completely, though on a NFD I have a coffee with semi-skimmed milk. I have surprised myself at just how little I miss that meal.

@slogan15 , I hear you about this time of year in school. Lots of angst and nervous energy coming off the kids.

    Day 8 Belfast NFD
I usually weigh on a Saturday, but won’t have access to the scales, so this morning’s reading is down 1.5lbs
@fatveganchickslims You made me chuckle lol!
@lany36. How lucky you are that you son will talk to you. The teenage years are a minefield of insecurity and pressures far greater than we ever had. As a P7 teacher, (10-11year olds) I noticed that those pressures started younger and younger. You’re so right about happiness. Your gratitude journal is such a good idea. You sound like a great mum. Xo
@coda We read some of Songbird’s suggestions lol! So glad you’re having a ball!
@lagrandebouffe I did a B2B on Mon and Tue because it wasn’t possible on my usual Thursday. I’m not sure of the advantages. I’ve bought the ‘Complete Guide to Fasting’ to try and sort this out in my head. I agree with @onahealthyhigh. For the record, usually after one fast day my scales are down about 1 – 1.5 lbs. With this week’s B2B the scales are still only down 1.5, so the jury’s out…. I also practise 16:8 mostly every day. Breakfast is a treat for me.
Well, only one bottle of wine packed for the weekend in the caravan (pocket winos, I’m going to put you under the seat, so you can keep popping up to remind me!)
Sending virtual hugs to you all. Have a good day.

    Day 8 Newcastle UK FD.
Here we go again busy work day which I find are the easiest days to fast on,if I’m at a loose end my mind is on food all day long. yesterday’s fast day went very well. Feeling very focused determined to hit that 13 stone Mark at the end of the month. Good luck everybody have a great day whatever you’re doing.

    Day 8, UK, FD

    Day 1 of B2B

Day 8, London, UK, FD (3rd of B2B2B)

Good FD yesterday, pushed the limits unfortunately and went to 750cals….. I really need to forget about the BSD or give it a weeks trial rather than mix & match!!!!! Scales are showing less and less each day…… it’s not too much to ask………. Slow and steady rather than bouncy bouncy!!!!! I will NOT self-sabotage over this weekend, mindful, mindful, mindful!!

@lacerx, it might not be great for summer, but I stick to soup on FDs. Maybe you could do a large bowl with bread and cheesy croutons for him and a small unadulterated bowl for you?

@rainbowsmile, I don’t have a talking tummy but sometimes the dragon roars sooo loudly that I find myself doing these sort of weird crunch things to suppress him…………. Doesn’t work only WATER can silence the dragon!!!

@lagrandebouffe I do B2Bs sometimes to kick myself off of a plateau or sometimes at the end of a challenge when the scales are heading North – just so I have something to show for a months’ effort!!! My intention for June was ADF, but I wasn’t β€˜feeling’ last Sunday, so I moved that FD to Wednesday, hence the B2B2B. I find day 1 a breeze, day 2 a bit difficult and day 3 is a revelation making me think of doing 4 or 5 FDs in a row!!! I don’t intend to do them regularly, as too many NFDs in a row reawakens the large appetite and bad habits, I’m more suited to 4:3 or ADF, hope this helps!

@steve toon taxi driver when I started this WOL, I couldn’t imagine missing breakfast, I mean its β€œthe most important meal of the day!!!” I couldn’t contemplate eating 2 biscuits and thinking, β€œthat’s enough!!!”, It wouldn’t have crossed my mind to do liquid only fasts!!!……………….. And WHO in their right mind sighs in relief, is glad to get up & head to the office and is grateful for a busy day at work so they can FAST and keep their mind off of food!!!! ………………..That’d be me!!!!

I hope everyone has a good day today whether FD, CD or NFD…………. We don’t have to let food or dragons rule our lives!!!!

    Day 8, London UK FD

Wooo…started my fast last night at 7.30pm and trying to wait to eat my first meal at 3pm today, am finding eating nothing for as long as I can helps me stay within my 500 cal and if I eat early all I can think of is what else to eat.

I’ve been on 5:2 now for 5 weeks but too scared to weight myself ! Dresses seem to be fitting better so will go by that I think for now..maybe I’ll get the courage to weigh myself at the end of June !

Am going to start incorporating exercise now that I think my body is getting used to this new way of life, so will start back in the yoga at the weekend and gym from next week

Hows everyone doing? UK is voting today..don’t forget to vote!

Sending happy vibes to all of you πŸ™‚

    Day 8, Newcastle UK, NFD

Ughh – another work day cancelled because of teeming rain. At least my back has had time to recover and is back to normal. I am already looking forward to working five full days next week (weather permitting) to catch up and keep my mind off food.

I’ve analyzed where I went wrong this week. As I’m getting near to goal and feeling pretty good, I have become complacent – forgetting that the fat cells are still ready and waiting to fill up again very easily. I did use my Dad’s property situation as an excuse to down that bottle of wine (and more) on Wednesday which inevitably leads to a scoffing fest. Instead of buying just one of my favourite cheeses at the weekend, I bought four – and as I can’t bear the thought of wasting food, I have spent the last couple of days ploughing through it – including crackers which I haven’t eaten in months. Tonight I go out with my friend to the Comedy Club for her birthday and we will be indulging in food and beer and I am going to enjoy it guilt free knowing that tomorrow is a new start. (Yes – I know yesterday was meant to be but flexibility is what makes this WOL sustainable). Today will be as controlled as possible.

    Welcome back @lumat – of course that wasn’t a problem πŸ™‚
    @fatteacher – exciting – 2lbs to go…..
@debster251 – Enjoy your weekend (and your wine – I will be in your pocket) and I’m sure you have a whole range of games to play in your van if the rain continues.
@fatveganchickslims – πŸ™‚ – I too enjoy househunting – trouble is Dad’s after a bungalow and they are like hens teeth. I’m crossing everything that the one on Saturday will work. I think it may have to… and being just around the corner is perfect from my POV.
@songbirdme – hahahaha – now that makes sense – pants and underpants. We use the term underpants – so where on earth did we get trousers from for ‘overpants’?
@lany36 – thank you for your wise and encouraging post. The lesson on creating your happiness is one I learnt far too late in life but since I did, I’ve shared it with others.
@allie123 – not that you’ll need it if you follow the plan, but ‘good luck!’
    @coda – wonderful!!
@chocolatemilkshake – this is a great forum by @simcoeluv and will answer all your questions on how to get started and manage fast days. https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/
@lilymartin – Cheesecake. It just has to be done occasionally.
    @slogan15 & @mrssonb – go ladies!!!
@flourbaby – yep. I’m with you and @steve toon taxi driver on that one. I need my work to keep my mind occupied and off food. It’s not so much the hunger dragon I’m currently dealing with – it’s the self-sabotage dragon. However, I think copious amounts of water may be the answer for him too.

We now have 153 challengers this month and I am sooooo grateful for our interactive spreadsheet for those who wish to track their progress. However, if anyone would like me to add their details, please let me know.

    Day 8 – UK – NFD

@Chummi – very helpful of you to add the links for us, thank you
@lany36 – you sound like the perfect Mum, I hope your son gets through this difficult patch in his life.
@Legrandebouffle – I too have done B2B fast days early on in the week if I am busy, later in the week. Not sure if there is any other benefit, good question.
@flourbaby – I too fancy trying ADF, and the BSD, the more I get into this WOL the more empowered I feel regarding hunger. My previous life is one of a serial grazer so I love how motivated I am at the minute. I now understand how my husband can just eat his 3 meals a day and has never snacked or had weight issues his whole life, it used to drive me crazy…. jealous or what
@Strawberriesandcream – we are our own worst enemies sometimes, I don’t know why we self sabotage so much, there must be some brain games going on if we could only get to the bottom of them. Good luck sorting out your Dad’s housing situation, that is more stressful than we think sometimes.
@debster251 – Have a wonderful trip in your caravan this weekend. I love the sound of rain on the roof, you feel so cosy inside ☺️ Well done on the 1.5lbs, great start to the month.

Hope everyone makes good choices today!

    Day 8 NFD Oman
Doing 19:5 today…experimenting with a shorter eating window.

Actually this is my third day on 19:5. It’s going ok.

    Day 8, Belfast, FD

Been trying to catch up on all the posts. I can’t believe the size of the group – it’s expanding as we are shrinking (well, hopefully…that’s the plan!).
@coda @Chitowngal @songbirdme how nice to all meet up. Chicago is a beautiful city, great craic! Enjoy the rest of your trip coda!

I had a bit of time so I’ve compiled the Pocketeers for today – apologies if I’ve added or missed anyone.

    ***DAY 8 – POCKETEERS***
If you’re fasting today just copy and paste the list, adding your name to the end of the list.
    ***GOOD LUCK!!***

Day8 UK months is running away from me, more than a week in already. Last few days have been NFDs – trying to keep under TDEE, it helps that we’re miles from any shops so the only food we have I brought with us. Also brought wine and snacks (quavers anyone!).

Someone posted earlier re their other half and what to do for them when fasting. On a FD I’ll usually have an apple at lunchtime and then a protein (usually fish) with a salad for our main meal My OH has his normal work lunch of a sandwich and at tea time he’ll have the same as me but I’ll cook him some carbs – poor love’s been eating boiled potatoes for weeks. If I have time I’ll do him a baked potato or home made wedges so we can eat together. I’ll also do a stir fry and heat him some noodles or rice. I like us to eat together in the evening and doing two things would be too much of a faff. If I could just get him to stop saying “yours doesn’t look like a lot” then that would be even better!

Walked to the egg lady yesterday- 3 mile round trip for half a dozen eggs, then 2 hrs gardening. Woke up this morning aching from head to toe- hope the calories burned reflects the effort.

@coda, looks like your US holiday got off to a swing, I love this forum not only for keeping me on the straight and narrow but for how friendly and supportive everyone is. i think it’s brilliant that virtual friends have become real life friends as well.

    Day 8……Florida……NFD

It seems as if the bad case of Thursday’s has hit a majority of people today. Don’t fret, my loves, it’s only one day in the week at it will pass fairly quickly.

I did weigh in this morning, I’m happy to say that, I’m down to 140.8, that’s a 2.2lb loss since the 1st. Less than 2lbs from my goal of getting into the 130’s.

Strawberries and cream…… Sorry, I hate to say it my dear but it looks like you may have to update my stats in the spreadsheet. Thank you!

I’m not sure about anyone else but for the newbies and B2B’s but I know for myself…. (that sentence is wrote oddly, don’t you think), I wasn’t not able to do any of them right away. I actually had to build up to them. Plus, they did take some practice as well. I had to figure out when and what to eat, so, I didn’t have the side effects the next day.
I can tell you creating a eating window like 16:8 really helped.
Remember, no one wakes up one morning and decides to run a marathon in the afternoon, it takes a lot of practice and work before a runner can actually do it.

Lastly, @chocolatemilkshake…… you can eat when ever it is you would like. There is really no set time for any of us….. it’s kind of like we’re all making it up as we go along…….just kidding!
In all seriousness, if you are trying to ease into an eating window, like many of us have. It really comes down to what are you comfortable with. Some on FD, can manage their calories in 3meals, others opt for 2, which I do and the strong only eat once. I myself do a 16.5:7.5. Which means I finish my last meal at 7:30 and open my eating time at noon the next day. I eat twice a day, every day. Sundays, I do a big breakfast with the family in the morning then a small dinner about 6.
At noon, I break my fast with a very small meal consisting of no more than 100 calories as I like a big dinner with my family. I refuse to make a different meal for myself because I have less calories to work with…..
my best suggestion, is if you are looking into creating an eating window for yourself, do your research, it will help you develop one to fit you personally.

Well, I’m off! I woke up late this morning so time is flying!

Today is the day….. I’m going to try Kung-fu fighting, I’m sure My kicks will be fast as lighting!

@bert1802 – I am loving how flexible this months sign off is – much like this WOL πŸ˜‰

Now don’t get me wrong flourbaby and strawberryandcream I’m no lover of work lol but when I’ve tried fasting on quiet days I found them a real struggle. The 8 16 diet made me realise I could get to 12 noon without any food so when I started the 5/2 I just carried on with that formula of not eating till 12.The best advice I have heard on this forum is to drink lots and lots of liquids especially when you feel hungry it’s 1 p.m.in Newcastle and I still haven’t eaten any food since my evening meal last night around 7 p.m. an apple will keep me going till my evening meal again

    Day 8 – USA (Illinois) – NFD

Managed to barely stay under TDEE yesterday despite going to a lovely graduation party of a church gal. I think in that meal I had more carbs than I normally have over several days, but sure was a nice party. Potato salad! Beef & cheese on a dinner roll, even a lovely cupcake! I did eat crudites with dip as well.

At that party I ran into another retired teacher who said she had heard about my weight loss from somebody and congratulated me on my new physique. She also has lost about 40 pounds due to some health issues and decided to work to keep it off.

Google and Wikipedia keep me informed, and sure enough, they agree with us on this board about “trousers” and “pants” colloquialisms. British English and American English aren’t the same!
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trousers

@coda and @chitown-gal — would have loved to join you at the Zoo and for Greek dinner. Sounds like your next day was very enjoyable! I haven’t had a good Greek meal for quite a while.

Off for a day of housework then local equity theater “Mary Poppins” tonight with dinner before. Will have to watch my calories here at home to save up for a good meal out!

    Onward and downward!

    Day 8 — Colorado USA– BSD 800.

Not really a FD today, but keeping it controlled ala BSD.

Today we’re cleaning house, prepping yard, boarding our pets at “summer camp” and packing up for a quick trip to @bert & @mogaman part of the country.β˜€οΈ πŸ– Taking the red-eye flight out tonight for a 5-day get-away to Orlando Florida! So looking forward to this!

I’m not to my ultimate goal weight yet, but 5:2 has successfully brought me down from 158 lbs to currently 146. Enough to fit into my summer shorts & feel comfortable in public in tank tops & sun dresses. πŸ‘šπŸ‘—

Not quite to the “confident in a bikini” stage yet! πŸ‘™πŸ˜. But getting there, for sure.
Maybe 8 more lbs off, plus toning & tightening up with regular exercise, and I’ll feel calm & cool floating the lazy river in my bikini. πŸ˜ƒ

Day 8, Guildford UK, FD 2 of B2B

Woke feeling really dreadful. Enough said.

I think it’s the fasting flu after travel. Very loose tummy and feeling dehydrated. Pouring the water into my body like a good un.

Voting day, hope I am well enough to go.

    Day 8 Lancaster, PA FD
Yesterday, I water fasted until 7:30 PM. Then 302 cals. of home made bone broth with steak and veggies. I’m loving my Instant Pot. It takes 30-40 minutes to cook instead of all day cooking and it tastes like slow cooking.😊 For the whole day, I kept my cals below 450 πŸ‘But ignorantly… really I got up literally in my sleep and ate yogurt. 2 things about that… I looked it up this morning yogurt had 17grams of carbs. 😜So I …. went over my 20 -25 of carbs for the day. I learned more about carbs though. Also I need to up my tryptophan … if I don’t have enough tryptophan: serotonin at night, 1 of 2 things can happen. I either have night terrors jumping out of bed and running into things in my sleep, or like last night, I’m eating in my sleep. Luckily we only have mostly healthy foods around this week. Counting carbs is something I’ll do in the short term until I get a handle on what foods, I like are also lower in carbs. Then I won’t have to keep such close tabs.
I’m getting a better understanding of how many carbs are really in the veggies and yogurt. More than I realized. Also I am surprised that Ricotta cheese has less carbs than I had thought. 2 Tblspoons have only .9 grams of Carbs and 54 calories. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ.
@lmrenfrey Celery and Ricotta could make a great snack!
@yolina I’m going to listen to the podcast while we are traveling tomorrow.✨Thanks for the info about Primal Potential.
@laserx In our family; @booper.dooper my DD can’t eat anything with sugar… most foods have sugar … an example even spaghetti sauce all have sugar. @fordprefect my hubby is a big guy, he played College football for WVU… so many times he eats larger portions, even when he is doing 5:2 because his TDEE is higher. My son was on the white diet for a while, only eating white foods. So over the years I have had to adjust what I’m making for the individuals… As 1 example for @booper.dooper I found canned tomatoes w/o sugar so I put that in for her in a separate and then I add the sauce later.
Sometimes it can be just a matter of me having a smaller portion than my hubby. Eating for health is good for all of us though…so it’s worth it. @fordprefect ‘s portions are getting smaller as he is fasting and having controlled NFD’s and obliterating the weight.😊
It helps as they are able to make their own meals if I’m having a FD.

@bigviking I love how you’ve charted the pattern of your weightloss cycle. You are fasting and obliterating fat now, Congrats!βœ¨βœ¨πŸŽ‰Keep on Keeping On!😊
@strawberriesandcream I was glad to learn a glass of Prosecco only has 69 cals and 2 grams of carbs. So if it’s going to be wine, like the wine tasting party on the Lake in NC. I’m going to bring Prosecco.
    @flourbaby βœ¨πŸŽ‰Congrats!✨😊I adore reading your posts!✨
@redrockgirl302 Thanks✨I will do 16:8 on most days.😊 My hubby and Father have already requested Breakfast made for them on Father’s Day, (in the USA) on June 18th. So I’ll probably eat breakfast that day along with dinner that night. My Dad is from the generation that we eat together every meal on weekends, since he’s retired now most days… Except for Father’s Day breakfasts will be the easiest meal for me to skip.
I better get busy with it…
I’m going to go with a quote that @at shared yesterday. I think it applies to today also✨
“Stay committed to your decisions, but stay flexible in your approach.”

    ✨Make it a great Day All✨

    Remember ✨
    ✨✨Together we are Stronger.✨😊

    Day 8 USA-WA FD
Throwing in an extra FD to see if I can crack my plateau-trying the “mix it up” suggestion!

@Lani36 We have 2 kids, my daughter in her 20’s graduated from college last year and now living and working on the other side of the state, and my son who is 19, studying computer science at a university in CA and shortly to come home for a break. It sounds like you are doing a great job. My 2 are so different from one another, but, after a daughter who sometimes tells me TOO MUCHπŸ˜‚ About what is going on, I really cherish the moments when my son chooses to share. Teenage years are rough for all kids, and you really have to celebrate with them when they find their way into making good choices to get through the tough stuff (and also love them through the not so good choices!). My thoughts and good wishes are with all of you in the stage of life where you have teenagers at home. It’s quite a ride, and then you miss them when they are gone!

Nice link if you need a translator of Geordie words anyone

    Day 8 Akron Oh, 1st of two b2b FD.@lagrandebouffe I prefer the b2b because I feel better, sleep better and have more energy on my second b2b fd. Occasionally I have done three in a row and I don’t find them difficult; usually the third fd requires a little more will power though. The b2b is not about weight loss for me, we are all going to meet our goals eventually, as long as we stick with it, I am more interested in the cell regenerative abilities intermittent fasting offers;
according the research B2B maximizes those.
    ***GOOD LUCK!!***

    DAY 7 NFD – fine – yesterday
    Scotland
    DAY 8 – FD – no 3

Woke up super tired but managed to wait til lunchtime before eating. I was seriously hungry by then.

Going to do my best to stick to 500kcal. More liquids needed.

    Good luck all.

    Day 7 – Brisbane Australia – NFD

    Day 8 – Brisbane Australia – FD

Smashed my fast day!! Came in under 800cal. Having a mug of my favourite Lemon & Ginger herbal tea, then I’m off to bed.

    Goodnight everyone πŸ™‚

    Day 7 – USA – NFD

    Day 8 – USA – NFD

2nd post – whoops, I just put the wrong day when I logged Day 7…Day 7 was a FD and it went very well. I’m starting this month to get back into doing proper fast days.

@steve-toon-taxi-driver — had to look up what Geordie is! Oh how I love that you all keep me learning. Fascinating stuff here. Thanks for your input!

@okeydokey – you said your son was on the white diet. I always thought that meant NO white foods (sugar, bread, rice, flour, potatoes) but you said all he ate was white stuff. Interesting.

Day 8 Chicago, IL USA – NFD

@songbirdme if I would have known you wanted to join us, I would have said something, just wasn’t sure you wanted to make another trip into the city, so sorry, it would have been fun to have you there as well!

@coda, it was a great time with you and Roy. I am looking forward to getting those nydj shorts on Sunday, when Macy’s has the sale. Enjoy the rest of your adventure, safe travels!!xo

Day 8, Rocky Mountains, US, BSD 800 cals

    Hi all,

BSD working well as before. Loving this WOL and WOE.😊

@okeydokey: I also have severe sleeping problems. Taking a combination of melatonin, L-Theanine and passion flower, chamomile and lemon balm. Makes me fall asleep but I wake up after a couple of hours. I don’t want to start with chemicals such as Lunesta. My OH says this WOE gives me too much energy and I cannot wind down. πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„ Perhaps there is some truth to it.

Anyway, all the best to all my fellow fasters! Onwards and downwards! 😊😊😊
