    Had a good holiday day yesterday with friends. Despite having committed to Dry July, I had planned to allow myself some alcohol beverages yesterday and to be honest, I don’t know if I enjoyed it as much as I thought I would. And with the fireworks setting our poor dog off, I had another bad night of poor sleep.

    I hear you @strawberriesandcream – don’t know if it would help you to join me in Dry July? I thought it would be hard but actually (I say with the HUGE experience of doing it 1 – 3 July!!) it was easier to not drink at all, than to try and limit my drinking to something reasonable. Whichever way you decided to tackle it, good luck.

    Your post @slacknz resonated. I always feel cold on a FD – ironic now that it’s getting so hot and humid in Florida! Off to wrap my hands around a hot mug of tea…

    Good luck to you who have a FD/CD today. I’m actually looking forward to my FD tomorrow. Very unusual for me but I was craving fresh salad at dinnertime tonight. THAT has never happened to me before in my whole life. I’ll have that for lunch tomorrow with those yummy mini tomatoes.

    Day 5 London UK NFD

    4.4lbs (2kg) down, and 6.6lbs (3kg) to go.

    Just checking in on my nfd and going to spend time on this reply to avoid eating! Have managed to stay under 800 cals, I’m not feeling hungry and it’s now almost 8pm so am going to call it a day in the food front. Husband is at the cricket at Oval tonight so I’m home alone and my toddler is fast asleep. Normally I would make myself something delicious and veg out in front of the tv. Instead I’m going to download an audiobook and have a bath before an early night (just in case I start getting hungry!).

    Took the little one to Kensington Memorial Park today where there is an amazing waterplay playground. He was in heaven! I have to say that I was too, it was perfect for a hot and humid day in the city.

    With the England World Cup match on Saturday, there may be lots of celebrating or commiserating – both of which will involve lots of calories! @mogaman I totally share your crush!!

    I’m so sorry to read about those who are unwell or have people close to them who are suffering. I’m quite new on here having joined part way through June so forgive me if I get anything wrong…
    @annemarilyn you have been on my mind all day. My mother didn’t have dementia but she did have brain cancer. It was such a cruel cruel illness. The day she didn’t recognise me, I lost a piece of myself. Just know that your mother is still there.

    @strawberriesandcream I cannot imagine how hard this is for you but you sound determined and that will go a long way. You have so much support on here. Sending you strength x

    @michelinme I hope you have a good support system around you. It’s sounds like you’ve really been through it with the pneumonia. When you really need it, the nhs is truly wonderful and I’m so proud of it. Just devastated at the way it’s going. I hope you are well on the road to recovery and are looking after yourself.

    @diana123 love your intro for us newbies, has definitely motivated me, especially the bit about your outfits feeling wonderful. I really hope to be able to say the same at some point this year.

    FD for me. Did good. Also did 1 1/2 hours of exercises. Think I’m getting in a routine with my exercises.

    Day 6 – Japan – FD 80.7kg

    Been raining for two days and that really curbs the activity. Still my high weight is less than what I used to get too! My belt is also on the last notch.

    Was feeling super after my great fast yesterday ..
    However as often happens, good hearted friends gifted me cream donuts and biscuits today and insisted we sit and partake! I was actually really disappointed… I didn’t want to be rude but now I think I might either fast or do controlled intake tomorrow.
    I’m a bit deflated…
    I feel far more in control of my cravings lately and they don’t control me anymore.
    But now I feel bad for eating when I didn’t even want to! Grrrrr!

    Sorry I haven’t checked in for a few days I’ve been really busy and as a result I haven’t been able to get my fast days in this week. I am planning on having a b2b fast and reset myself. Got lots of exercise planned for today.

    Good fast day yesterday. Lost 1 pound this week so now 10.5 pounds in total since mid April. Slow and steady suits me. Hope to get to a stone by 31st of July.

    Weekly weigh-in and 0.2kg down this week to 75.0kg. Its slow but its down and the waist is down too. Trying to keep the down momentum going. Its a miracle given all the sourdough consumed. None will be bought this week.

    Another glorious day and chores to be done – drat – would rather be doing something more glamorous. We have the monthly country market tomorrow and i need to get all my scumptious plants ready for sale – its hard handing them over to other people after all the effort growing, watering, discouraging bugs and coaxing them into flower! I’ve been offered some growing space – so have the opportunity to expand now. It would never have been offered if I hadn’t got myself out more earlier in the year. It might not be right as a bit far but I have a feeling something good will come of it.

    @arelkade – best wishes for your brother and good to hear he is pain free and settled.

    Good FD yesterday spurred on by the thought of dinner out tonight, Greek theme so I’m looking forward to seeing the menu choices.

    Day 6 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

    I weigh the same this morning as yesterday, despite a delicious couple of glasses of wine and cheese and crackers after dinner. Yay, so happy. I am at the weight I maintained at whilst following Dukan but I will try for a few more pounds. Not sure if I should lose much more, don’t want to be wrinkly much 😆

    DH made a fantastic dish last night with hake fillets, vegetables and olive oil and seasoning, all popped into a turkey roasting bag of all things ……but oh my, when it came out of the oven it melted in the mouth 😋 I will have the leftover fish for my meal tonight. Absolutely yummo!

    @arelkade thinking of you and prayers for your brother. Take care of yourself.

    @cornish-jane ohh sounds exciting with the expansion opportunity. And if it feels right then go for it! I love gut instincts and always try to follow them.
    @slacknz don’t beat yourself up, just carry on. These things happen all the time, it’s life, but this way of eating means you can dust yourself off and name it a new day, at any time of the day ☺️

    So the weather still hasn’t broken here in Ireland’s Ancient East 😀 We were talking about rain in work yesterday, it was forecast for a shower in the afternoon and my boss said “I will only believe it when I see it”, and then we all stood around laughing at the irony of that statement in IRELAND! It rains every day, 40 shades of green, etc et. Etc 😆 Now we have a drought, the first since 1976!!!!
    Hose pipe ban started at midnight, so I admit to liberally hosing everything yesterday evening. The only things I will worry about now are my plum and apple trees in pots, and my potted tomatoes. My lemons and olive tree are also in pots but should be ok with the odd watering can.

    Day 6 Belfast NFD

    Yesterday’s cooler weather led to a few chores being zapped, so feeling virtuous.

    @daffodil2010 your fix worked well. Thanks. I see there is now officially a drought in parts of Ireland. I’ve never seen our grass and plants so poor. It’s a double edged sword really. 40 shades of brown and yellow is our case! My front garden is covered with leaves from the willow and my rowan. Past using the watering can I think and no rain in sight for the foreseeable future.☹️ Are your olive and lemon trees in a greenhouse or outside? I have a vine growing over my shed which gives red (pea-sized) grapes. If we have an Indian summer. Maybe this year, they’ll ripen early.

    First post of the month. Brief background: I’m a 57yo female, just over 5’7″ and currently stuck on 157lb, with 7lb to lose to reach my target of 150lb. Maybe my handle should be “Heinz57”! However, I have lost a whopping 40+lbs since starting this WOL in November 2017, and if I can do it, so can anyone!

    DH celebrated a BIG birthday last week, and I wore a new, svelte (for me anyway) size 12 WOBB* dress, which earned me many compliments! It has made the journey so far SO worthwhile, and it’s good now and again to pause, celebrate, reflect, and look back on the journey travelled so far, before picking up the gauntlet and travelling on some more. My ambition for this month is to reach 10-stone-something land, a place not seen for many years, which I look forward to visiting!

    Good luck to everyone out there, whether fasting or resting, remember to keep on keeping on – it really does work!

    Day 6 quick check in, North Canton OH FD

    Yesterday’s FD devolved into a CD. I am a creature of routine and habit, and I have found that anything that takes me out of my routine has the potential to mess me up – big time. And there were too many things that messed up my routine this week, I haven’t exercised all week and the Public holiday in the middle of the week has not helped. But I am aiming for 3 B2B fasts over the weekend to get me back on track. We leave for Jamaica in 6 days and I plan to be ready for island living. I am not yet caught up on posts, I will try to do so this weekend.

    2nd post. 1st one got chewed up by the great Internet Ether Dragon – a close cousin of the Snack Dragon!

    Still stuck on 157lb plateau but not helped by celebrations of DH’s BIG birthday, with plenty of Asian food! Still, it’s good to celebrate once in a while.

    Wore my WOBB* dress at his party last weekend and got plenty of compliments! It’s good to pause, celebrate and reflect on success so far before picking up the gauntlet and carrying on.

    7lbs to go to target, hoping to reach 10-stone-land this month!

    It was a good FD yesterday, just over 500 cal, happy with that 🙂 . Scales stay stubbornly on the same mark 😠 . Oh well, we carry on ….

    I’m working today and tomorrow so not much time to post, will answer more posts later when I have more time, but now I just wanted to say @arelkade I feel for you and my prayers are with you 🙏

    Thanks for the great support. I was excited to start 5:2 and it is going well. Must admit getting the unexpected biopsy news is so tough. I’m seeing the specialist and the 24th and then 1 week more to get results. I wish I could accelerate the time…..
    On the positive news, I have lost 1.5 kg 🙂

    Going for a walk soon. Unfortunately, the Salt Lake Valley is full of smoke from our own wildfires and the ones from California and other states. There are 60 fires in the West as of yesterday. 😢 Air quality is extremely bad. Pollution, ozone and smoke…..

    @debster251 my lemon and olive trees are usually under glass but I bring them outside once the danger of frost is gone. Last year we went away for a night with the citrus trees still under glass and no ventilation 😱 …….while it was cold and rainy in Donegal it got to mid 20’s in Meath and the leaves and fruit fried. 😨

    Trees survived so I put them out in May this year. The olive is currently abundant with flower, hope the drought conditions don’t hamper further growth. Lemons not great though.

    Hope all our gardens make it through this drought.

    @redrockgirl302 oh my goodness, that’s terrible about the wildfires and pollution. Take care

    Day 6 -Florida

    NFD today. Enjoyable day. Made a decision to re-upholster my couch and two wingback chairs. These items are still in great shape but needs to be updated. Couldn’t make sense getting rid of them to replace with new ones. Found a place that have great recommendations and reasonable prices. Now I can focus on making an art studio with the extra room I’ll have.
    Also found a good India restaurant. No dinner tonight. 😀

    We’re back from our week holiday in Sicily. It was fun and we all enjoyed it. I didn’t count calories and ate mostly three course meals. Tomorrow I’ll weigh myself and start fasting on Monday.

    I planned a FD for today, but my husband arrived from Hungary this morning (we expected him only in the late evening) so I decided to enjoy the family dinner together with him and the kids. We haven’t seen him in 5 weeks. Next week I will have an extra FD, I will do a 4:3 instead of 5:2 to compensate. I did eat a lot of salad with my sausages and fries and had only fruit for lunch. So no bingeing at all. 😉
    He said I look a lot thinner. 😎

    The bad news is that it seems that I catched my daughter’s upper respiratory infection. I don’t feel well. 😢

    Did well with 16:8 yesterday but less so with everything else.

    Big weekend as all boys are home for the youngest’s grad party. 😊

    Currently the lowest weight I’ve been for many years 74.5kg! Probably from limited eating under my current circumstances.

    77kg seems to be my bottom weight right now. I keep hitting it, but not going below it. Still it is well below my initial goal weight of 79.5kg. I would like to get to 76kg because that would be a full 30kg under my starting weight.

    48 Water fasts done in 2018. Now it gets hard though as I have around 5 trips before the end of the year.

    Am staying low carb and eating in fasting window. Although I had a littttttttle too much Prosecco on Friday.

    We went to an exhibition opening of Gordon Walters paintings at our city art gallery which was even better than I imagined. I did well on the eating and drinking front and this morning I went to the Saturday markets feeling virtuous. I got a bacon and scrambled egg roll cut in half so I could share it with my OH. I came home and he had gone out so I ate his half… I’ve come back down to earth with a bump…

    Day 7 – UK – NFD

    A very good FD yesterday, had a brilliant walk and it wasn’t too hot covered just over 5miles and nearly 500m of height gained – wonderful views ⛰

    Drank plenty of water and 1 cup of semi skimmed flat white during the day then had some homemade kefir yogurt and blackberries for my dinner (395cals) Weight this morning 53.2kg/117.3lbs

    Busy day today – enjoying a cup of tea whilst writing this post – need to be out of the house soon for food shopping and will most likely break my fast with a light brunch out with OH late morning at one of our regular haunts 😋

    @purplevilet – fingers crossed for your appointment with the specialist – it will be good to have a clear picture 🤗

    After going overboard yesterday I did 16:8 today and basically fasted until dinner. Not a true fast day but just trying to regain control a bit. I am really realising my cravings are becoming much more manageable. Already looking forward to my next fast on Monday.

    Thank you again for lovely get well messages, it makes such a difference. I’m recuperating v gently at home – taking antibiotics, resting lots an eating v healthily but high calorie food in an effort to give my body a boost. Not managed to put any weight back yet but at least i’ve stopped losing.

    I Know it’s probably a weird thing to be posting about trying to gain weight on here, but after losing 6lbs in 6 days i feel pretty depleted and weak. Good food is as crucial as medication to boost recovery from traumatic/acute illness. Thankfully after 8 months on this WOL I know i’ll be able to come back down gently once I’m truly healed.

    I just wanted to pop back and say I’m rooting for you all in your journey through the ups and downs of summer – holidays, celebrations and illnesses, new beginnings and endings.

    I woke up feeling bloated this morning, wonder if that’s anything to do with take away fish and chips yesterday? 🤔 I’ve been avoiding all processed food and eating all home made food so it could be that my body is reacting. I’ll go bck to home made food today, so lets hope 🙂

    I’m off to work soon so I don’t have time to post much, but just wanted to say get well to all who are feeling poorly and good luck to all who are working hard on their goals 🤗

    Happy Sat.! Taking a well deserved break this weekend and not going any where or do anything. Just going to get my home in order and be a lazy bum.
    I found that the last week had been a trying one, well at least in the food department. So, today being today……..I’m FDing it come hell or high water!

    Off shopping at Trader Joe’s, then hiking and a movie matinee at 2pm. A little gardening as well but it is so hot that I don’t know if I want to be in the garden….every day around 37C 😜 and no rain in sight.

    Today I prepared fresh tuna salad nicoise. I also prepared Turkish meat patties with pine nuts and currants for tomorrow lunch as starters. I’m cooking oriental poussins with baked potatoes. I’m serving Lidtz chocolates and some almond cookies I brought from Sicily as dessert.

    This evening I share a pizza with my OH.

    NFD today. Watching my calorie intake today. Heat is back on, so this will be an inside day. Looking at my new hints on Ancestry. Just found out my 10th Great Uncle, born 1600, was from Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. I don’t even know where that is! So interesting.
