  • Day 4 – USA – NFD

Good FD yesterday, 467 cals. I put some sweetleaf stevia vanilla flavor in 1/2 cup full fat greek yogurt for dessert at the end of the day, yum. @daffodil2010, have fun on your vakay! @mjrbcd44, good luck on your gallbladder surgery. @chickensrock, happy anniversary.

Day 4, USA, Missouri Ozarks, Controlled Eating Day

Hello all, another frigid day here but the sun is shining and the skies are blue. Prayers for those in the severe weather along the Eastern seaboard.

    Today’s weight 150 even, goal weight 145.

Off work today so should be able to easily get in all my exercise. I have already done some stretching exercises and my 3 1/2 minute plank (working up to four – did the high plank this morning, will do the elbow plank later tonight).

Off to read, wishing all well.

Wishing you glorious anniversary memories, chickenstock ! May you have many more years together. I love wineries !

daffodil, Save travels – have fun. Cannot wait to hear about your trip.

debster – so sorry for the loss that your family is suffering. Your tribute was lovely, may memories sustain you. Embrace those boys and enjoy them while they are home.

    Day 4 – 🇬🇧- NFD

    @bert1802 – thanks, yesterday’s FD was truly outstanding – finally eliminated a pound and a half 😊

    Day 4 Wisconsin FD

Thank you all so much for your great posts. I appreciated the great tips I was able to read (and there were many) and hope to get to them all eventually.

My FD yesterday turned into a NFD (controlled at least) so today will be a FD instead.
Activity went as planned, and will continue that plan today with a 25 minute weights/resistance band workout in place of a bike ride.

@ Mjrbcd44 sorry to hear about your upcoming surgery but I know that nothing gets you down!

Good luck to everyone today. Take care, Markie

    Day 4, Guildford UK, FD

Finished strongly yesterday, resisted cheeky biscuit today. “Get thee gone temptation”.

Discovered yesterday the divorce absolute hadn’t happened because the Giggalo hadn’t signed the paperwork. He doesn’t get his settlement if it’s not signed so crazy loco land again. Despite that did not cheat on my plan.

@annemarilyn digestive tract is settling, hope yours is too.

@debster251 great sadness on your loss, I have included you and your family in my votive.

@mjrbcd44 I hope the op goes well.

Another day and I hope a fraction of an ounce off my tummy.

    Mari

Day 4 USA (Utah visiting) – NFD

Good controlled 16:8 yesterday. The water aerobics class I take at the local gym is more strenuous than I ever thought water could be! I won’t ever try that one on a FD, so glad I kept controlled yesterday.

I am adoring all the newbies, and continuing folk’s identities! @mari84 – welcome back. Hopefully your life and all will allow you to stay with us this time.

@shinything – there is an “edit” function on your own post (near the ‘permalink’ word) that is there for about 10-15 minutes after your post goes up.

@chickensrock @fatrabbit @flourbaby @strawberriesandcream — your names always make me think of food, but I love them all!

    Onward and downward.

@miraclelou I don’t see your long post. Sucks when that happens.

    Day 4 CD Oregon USA

First a very ❤️️❤️️-felt thank you to all for your encouraging words and thoughts regarding my gallbladder. Sounds like there is a long line for “non-emergency” surgeries around here so not sure what that means for me? In the mean time, information hound that I am, I have been googling non-stop and may try a gallbladder cleanse to see if I can avoid surgery. Will keep you updated as I figure it all out.

    But enough about me!!😄

@tasha58691, @FatFlissB, @rachyboo44 and @saggirl I’ve added you all to the spreadsheet! Welcome!! You’ll find this is a very active forum and lots of great tips and encouragement. If you have any questions–just ask! Here’s the link to the spreadsheet and you can edit in any more of your information that you’d like to as well as track progress.
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QwPrjy2fIZCo5ds0mMMmyQPk5xdFnZ3V52ZWuiyiucA/edit?usp=sharing

@MiracleLou–don’t see your long post…😞 Internet dragon must have got it.

@daffodil2010 Have an absolutely fantastic trip!! We are all so eager to hear about it. Sorry your DH is not feeling up to snuff (poor pun) and hope he gets well quickly.

@bert1802 I am very sorry you are cold in Florida. (And yes, don’t let the whole Northeast USA catch you saying that today as winter storm Grayson takes aim.) But I get it because you get acclimated to where you are. And if you’re like me, I’m cold a lot of the time!!

@LindaSue-thanks for the link. I really want to try to make my own sourdough so this was perfect.

@Debster251–so sorry to hear of your cousin and friend. 💙 ((Hugs))

@jessmac–did you make it through the B2B? I still haven’t tried that and wonder if I can do it!

@joblot44-so glad you are finding success with this WOL. I feel the same way–like why didn’t I do this years ago?–but what has been very inspiring to me is that there are many long-timers here who are “more mature” 😊 than me and have got great results with this WOL, which proves to me that it is sustainable for the long haul.

@leggit–thinking of you and hoping you are safe, warm and continue to have power. ⛄️

@flourbaby-thinking of you too as all that sounds good/safe to eat right now is crackers, bread and cereal. 🍞 Definitely not sustainable, but kind of nice excuse.

@strawberriesandcream (and all of you UK Dry Januarians) I am a little jealous of finding good alcohol-free alternatives. None of the things you have mentioned can I find here in the US. I bought an alcohol-free red wine and it literally tastes like a mixture of red wine vinegar and grape juice. I would love a good NA beer and it sounds like it’s becoming a real trend at the grocery stores over there?

@at, @onahealthyhigh thanks for reinforcing the fact that this WOL is not the cause of my gallstones and reassuring newbies. From what I’ve read many people have gallstones and they just never have issues with them–so evidently I’m just lucky. 😉

Lastly, @shinything I downloaded an “emoji keyboard” app for my laptop. Hence why my posts are riddled with emojis. 🤷

OK friends–I get to work from home today–hooray! It’s more comfortable to have my heating pad with me.👍🏻

“Figure out what’s good for you, then create a liking for it. You’ve got to work at living!”

Day 4 McMinnville Oregon USA – FD
I had a very CD yesterday. It really helped to plan out what I was going to eat for the day and know just what the calorie count would be. Today is a FD but I did the same thing, it it works keep it up!! I know counting calories and tracking can be tedious but I think I need to do it for awhile until I get a better handle on what’s what.

    @chickensrock – Happy Anniversary 🎉🎈
@at – Love your quote, thank you
@flourbaby – Thank you for the link. I added the “Dry January and Beyond” app for my phone so I can now track how much money I’m saving and I get an inspirational email every other day. I can use all the help I can get to stay motivated!!

    Day 4, Gozo Malta, nfd

Mjrbcd44 prayers for you so you’ll have a plain sailing operation and speedy recovery.

I’m taking two types types of antibiotics as my daughter two some of my blood and I have a severe infection. I started taking them this morning and they’ll see how I progress.

    Have a great Thursday everyone.

Debster251 prayers for your dear ones.

    Second post

For any who love to read research articles – this one is on does fasting making you so hungry the next day or so that you overeat and lose the benefit (my paraphrasing).

Long, but interesting. I love to learn !

    https://idmprogram.com/fasting-and-hunger-fasting-17/

    Day 4 – Massachusetts – NFD

The bomb cyclone is here and I am safely wrapped up inside reading all your posts and drinking some hot tea. Conditions are blizzard-like outside, so I’m gladly not going in to work! no power loss so far. Landlord emailed about us letting our faucets drip to prevent the pipes from freezing. A lot of that happening around me because temperatures have been so cold. @bert1802 – the cold is terrible! I only stand it because I love the seasons and I don’t have to do the shoveling. 😂 But it does make it harder to fast.

Completed my B2B Fast yesterday successfully! Today I weighed myself and I am down .8 pounds from my pre-New Years weight which I feel great about, and for me it is a new low which I am loving as well. Best of all the past two days have been without sugar! @maayyaa for me I mean no sweets or cookies or chocolate. Processed sugars. I am not completely eliminating all carbs – I’ve tried that diet before and it did not agree with me. I found it too extreme. Though I have given up bread.

@mjrbcd44 – I hope you can have your surgery soon! I have a friend who had her gallbladder out – seems like it has barely affected her life and she feels so much better!
@Debster251- I am sorry for your loss. Having family around is always comforting during a time like this.

Good luck to everyone fasting today and to everyone traveling – safe travels!

    Las Vegas NV
    Day 3 NFD
    Day 4 NFD

New all time low 159.4 lbs with no fast day (FD’s are 0 cal for me) yet this month. Eliminating toxic foods is making a huge difference for me.

I won’t have a fast day till I get back from my cruise on the 14th.

Those of you that are losing long posts perhaps you could compose you posts in word or whatever software you use and then just cut and paste it here? That way if it doesn’t post just cut and paste again

Those three mince pies. And that half a bag of almonds… they weren’t part of today’s plan 😡

    Day 4 North Wales FD
Good fast day today. I too watched trust me I am a Doctor about the fizzy water. It does not have that effect upon me. It definitely makes me feel fuller and I have no urge to eat. Interesting research though. I still intend to drink the fizzy water because it definitely keeps me on track when the hunger dragon raises its head.

@debster251 sending you hugs. Sorry for your loss.

    Day 4. UK 🇬🇧 FD.
Just checking in. FD has gone well, but I must admit that I’m finding Dry January a bit more difficult. My daily reward (for long day at work and hideous commute home) has always been a glass ( or two 😉) of wine. Haven’t found an appetising substitute yet, but I will check out the 0% red wine suggestion. Thanks.

Day 4,Germany 2nd try to post
    @basyjames thanks for your information!
Earlier I was writing about our skiing vacation here at Feldberg, rain, rain, rain, an orcanolike storm, no electricity, no internet and phone net… So, we could have definitely been luckier… 😣
I am not fasting right now but next week will be a 4:3 week.
The good news is that booze free January is really going well! Feel pretty at ease with this decision. On Saturday night though I will meet some friends at an Italian restaurant where we usually have some nice wine… Isn’t it strange that it is more uncomfortable for me what the others might think than not having the wine… It really is a social pressure thing – maybe only in my head…
@daffodil2010 enjoy your holiday in the summer!!! I wish you a fabulous time!

@miraclelou how strange. A similar thing happened to @maayyaa. I’m receiving them via email but cannot see them here. I haven’t checked every email so I hope this is the one you are looking for. Apologies if not.

There was also a comment for @daffodil wishing her a happy trip but it wouldn’t let me copy. 🤔

Edit: Stranger still it won’t let me post the copy. “ Error: Duplicate reply detected; it looks as though you’ve already said that! “🤔 we have gremlins in the system!

    While I’m here.

    Day 5/NFD/Melbourne Australia

Busy day today. I’ll try catching up later. Stay warm.

Edit: Sorry about duplicates. Really not sure what is going on.

Thank you @strawberriesandcream, @lindasue,@Rainbowsmile, @anna6, @leggit, @molij and @mjrbcd44 (and anyone else I’ve missed)for your kind wishes. Today was one of those opportunities where you catch up with family and make endless promises to keep in touch and then and don’t until the next time. I messed up my no sugar pledge – I had a little tray bake in my mouth before I even thought. Never mind, today’s a new day.
@ultramel there’s nothing like a good binge watch! I get frustrated watching ordinary TV when you have to wait to next week to see the next episode!
@chickensrock a very happy anniversary to you and your OH.
It seems like a good strategy @ardell. If you’re looking for inspiration, look up posts by @buttonboots or our own @fatrabbit.
@rainbowsmile – just a little blimp! Stay strong, you can do it!
I was talking to OH about the Dr M Programme last night. He wondered why they didn’t also include the diet equivalent of the cola as well. It would be interesting to compare. It’s not like him to pay attention to healthy things, so maybe I’m getting through at last! The sparkling water is definitely staying.

    Onwards and downwards.

    Day 4, UK, FD

My second FD going well so far. I do feel cold though, so Im thinking of wrapping up in a blanket on my sofa and watching some good TV show 🙂

@songbirdme “there is an “edit” function on your own post (near the ‘permalink’ word) that is there for about 10-15 minutes after your post goes up. ” < I don’t have that. This is so bizarre! Are we on the same forum? haha

@mjrbcd44 thank you, I will search for “emoji keyboard” and hopefully find a workaround for my weird smiley issue 😐

That is an interesting article @lindasue , I knew some of the things but wasn’t aware of some other, thanks for the link 🙂

Hope everyone is having a good day so far <3

    Day 4 UK FD

After yesterday’s celebration and a CD, i woke up today bloated and having mysteriously put on 1.5kg overnight!!! I’m going to hang with it, keep with daily weighing to understand how my body works, and pay more attention to monthly weight & measurements.

FD & first day up and dressed post-illness; not yet Normal but definitely better. Went out for an hour shopping with a friend – a lot of the supermarkets seem to be having post-Christmas sales on vegetables so I stocked up at half-price. Cooked & frozen some spicy carrot & ginger soup ready for busier FDs/CDs next week, and will make veg/lentil stew Fri night. Yummy experimental supper of cauliflower in a creamy leek, mushroom & horseradish sauce with brussel sprouts. Absolutely stuffed at just under 400 calories. Really getting into the idea of using spices and flavours to enliven sauces and soups and filling up on veggies.

@debster251 – Sorry for your loss. I hope the funeral was as good as it could be.

@daffodil2010 Hope you have a fabulous holiday, not at all dampened by your OH’s virus

@mjrbcd44 Hope your gallbladder behaves itself while you are waiting for surgery, the wait is not too long and recovery is speedy and unadventurous.

Well done to people who are hitting new lows, having successful FD and CD, or newly back on the waggon and hopefully not falling off too hard after the recent celebrations. Be lovely to yourself, you know what you want and need and can achieve this. It’s a marathon not a sprint, a process not an event, and the journey there is as important as the destination.

Day 4 – SW WA USA – FD

In the midst of 2nd FD of the year & it’s going well. Coffee, tea & water in the AM. Just had a mug of bouillon & prepared a coffee/latte style with cashew milk, cocoa powder & stevia to take back to school/work.

@mgrbcd – Gallstone pain is no fun. Glad they figured out fast for you. Wishing you all the best as you have surgery!

    Together we are stronger!

@debster251 – may you be comforted by good memories. So sorry for your loss.

    Day 4 : Cheshire, UK : FD

I woke up feeling week and hungry after my liquid fast day yesterday. I was determined not to eat until at least 12 noon. It was looking like another liquid fast day until 9.15pm and I felt too weak and hungry. So I ate 1 medium avocado, 3 rashers of bacon and a fried egg. All under 500 calories…I’m fine with that.

Let’s see what tomorrow brings with regard to a FD.

I love that so many of us are not giving up on the sparkling water. I watched the programme on IPlayer. I mix my still water into the sparkling as it’s too fizzy on its own.

I’m enjoying reading lots of great posts. I’ve surprised myself how I’ve managed to keep up. I did have a peak at the October thread, back then, with the hope of joining in November but wasn’t able to keep up. I suppose I wasn’t in the right frame of mind but I am now…that’s all that counts! 🙂

    Day 4 – UK – NFD

Busy day – feared it would end up being an out of control day but ended up just above TDEE – happy with that – going to watch a little bit of the2nd day of the Ashes Test before bed……..

@mjrbcd44 I too have suffered with gallstones but have opted not to have my gallbladder removed and now manage it quite successfully. I hope you get it sorted cause it is really not pleasant.

I had suffered from chest pain for some time and had scans ect but never got a definitive diagnosis until I developed obstructive jaundice and ended up hospitalised for a couple of weeks. I had a sphicterotomy ( the sound of which did not appeal) basically they go down through the mouth to remove the gallstone which was causing the obstruction and then widened the sphincter that connects to the gallbladder so if another stone decides to make an escape it is less likely to get stuck. I find that if I eat healthily and lowish fat I do not get any pain, I can have the odd pizza and have no issues but if I were to eat like that for 3 or 4 days the acid reflux and gallbladder pain kicks in.
Over Christmas I ate a fair bit of cheese which I usually restrict my consumption of and felt rubbish reflux ect

So my advice would be to be while you are waiting for your surgery to be careful not to eat too much fat which I’m sure you’ve been told. My surgeon said that there would be no downside to having my gallbladder out but I had heard that a number of people did have an issue with loose bowels after the surgery and still suffered with the pain from time to time. I spoke to my GP about this and she confirmed that she was aware that this could be an issue for some which was why I opted not to go forward with the op especially as i have no symptoms if I eat reasonably healthily which lets be honest should be what I’m doing anyway. That said if I was still getting the pain regularly then that sucker is coming out cause it’s a bit nippy, I can cope with it once or twice a year but couldn’t go back to the days I was getting it once or twice a week.

    Day 2nd post

@Ardell–thank you for that insight! That is what I started hearing too, and deciding based on everything I have been reading. I really would like to avoid surgery but the “attack” I had last weekend was really scary and nothing I want to repeat.
I am endeavoring to do a “cleanse” for the next few days and I hope that I can get it settled down enough to as you said, eat reasonably healthily and avoid another attack.
Haven’t weighed myself, but thinking I have to be down a pound or two this week. 😉

    Day 4 – USA – NFD

Second post – @mjrbcd44, have you ever heard of Dr. Eric Berg? He is on YouTube and gives a lot of free advice about intermittent fasting. One of his subjects was gallbladder trouble. He also sells a “Gallbladder Formula”. You may want to check it out?

    Still Day 4 –

@mjrbcd – I wish you well on your gall bladder issues. My 1st “pains” that I learned about 8 months later were gall stones, 1st started when on a 9 week vacation in Europe. I called them my “Barcelona pains” because that’s where I was during the 1st attack. Those attacks were no fun. Crackers followed by about 3 Ibuprophen would settle the pain in the middle of the night. I did get my gallbladder out laproscopically and after a week or so was able to gingerly go back to teaching. I was so glad to be done with the attacks.

Day 4 Sarasota, Florida CD Shipped lunch again. Didn’t eat particularly healthy. I want to improve that tomorrow.

    Better late than never !?!!
Would love to be included in the Jan 2018 Challenge .
Thanks a million ! From Sunny Sydney 😎

    Day 4/California FD

I’m a little late posting tonight. Just a rather busy day with work and all. Today was a FD and it went well.

@mjrbcd44, hope you’re feeling better today. Good luck on your research on gallbladder issues. I don’t know much about them because mine has never acted up.

    Day 5, India, NFD

Planning to have a controlled day. I have gained 200gms overnight but my stomach
is flatter. The number on the scale doesn’t matter beyond a point. Good luck everyone with your FD & NFD.

    Day 4 Post #3

Welcome @libertybelle! Never too late! You are added to the spreadsheet. Saw a couple of others who have added themselves as well. That’s great and we are now up to 94 challengers-awesome. 👍🏻

@Metauta–I am familiar with Dr. Berg and watched a couple of his videos and others today. Thank you!!

@AnneMarilyn-glad to know that you fared so well after surgery.

When we used to take the boys (all four) out to a restaurant when they were young and they would sometimes get too loud, I’d ask them “is this our own private restaurant?” as a way of reminding them to be considerate of the others who were eating there too. 😊 It’s a loose analogy, but don’t want our lovely fasting forum to become “mjrbcd’s private gallstone forum”, so until things are resolved just keep me in your background prayers or happy thoughts.

I’m weighing myself tomorrow morning as I would normally do on Friday morning after my second fast of the week, and happily read all of your fabulous posts to keep me entertained while dealing with this sidetrack.

Since this isn’t a diet, but a WOL, a sidetrack was bound to happen right?

@Rainbowsmile–I’m so proud of you for not going off plan with the stress of the divorce papers not being signed. I would have plowed through a bag of chips for sure. 🏆

    Evening time here….good night all.

Day 5, Norway, NFD but hopefully somewhat CD.

Not a full FD (b2b) yesterday, but pretty darn close, I had chicken burger and salad for lunch, that tipped me over. I keep learning, just need to stick to my one meal (dinner) when attempting FD.

Funny “cold in Florida”  How “cold” is it? Like below 20 degrees Celsius? Well, I live in Norway, 20-25 is what we have in the summertime…we can sometimes be lucky if the summer comes during a “long weekend” lol…that’s a “Norwegian internal joke” though, but to every joke there is a hint of truth. I would LOVE to live in California, Arizona or Florida… too bad it’s not that easy to just up and move to a different country. I hate to be cold, hate to freeze, don’t like the snow..well the snow can come to the mountain areas, so people can go skiing IF they find the need for it. For Christmas I got roller skis, so now I’m just waiting for springtime to come, so the pavements can be swept for sand/pebbles, and I can have some fun on my roller skis.

Thanks for clearing out the “no sugar” club, than I can really join, I thought it was to check everything if they had some sugars in it, but if it is to keep out sweets, candy, biscuits and cakes and such, I can do it…it’s hard, but I can do it. 

Today at 6pm I’m going to my very first yoga class ever. I’m 39yrs old, but stiff as a 99yr old…I guess there are 99yr olds less stiff than me too… so this can be interesting 

My holiday weight is slowly coming off 

Day 3 (Second Post): Cheshire, UK

After my posting, the food dragon was released and I ate several sundried tomatoes out of the jar, 2 scrambled eggs plus 2 big scoops of peanut butter. Thankfully I didn’t succumb to the dried apricots and dates.

    Day 5, Newcastle UK, NFD

I remembered something else that I was going to tell you yesterday before I lost my first post. After OH’s successful knee replacement last year, we went back to our dance class on Wednesday evening – with some trepidation on his part – but I’m pleased to report it was a total success. Somebody did ask me to keep them updated on his progress – sorry I can’t remember who. Whilst it was a painful 3 months, OH was diligent about his daily exercises and it has paid off in spades.

I’m up early this morning – and I have to tell you that 9 days off the plonk and I am noticing big differences. I can now face looking at myself in the mirror first thing and am noticing how the dark under eye circles, lines and wrinkles are receding fast. I’m also seeing that my skin has been a bit spotty the last few days but I’m putting that down to the fact that my liver – having been freed up from processing alcohol – is now able to concentrate on the normal detoxing of my body. I don’t want to be a sobriety bore, so I’ll report on my progress in small chunks. Suffice to say I am buzzing!

One of my aims for this year is to experiment with vegetarian cooking. Well last night I made a chickpea curry and it was gorgeous! OH loved it too. Cushty!
If anyone in the UK saw the ‘Food Unwrapped Diet Special’ on TV last night – there was a great article on the benefits of cumin and other curry spices in helping weight loss. Worth watching on catch-up. No doubt there’ll be info on You Tube – I’ll do a little searching.

Did I mention my Dad bought me a lovely cookbook by Sarah Flower – Low-Carb Slow Cooker. Well I made the egg custard on Wednesday afternoon (which is delicious btw). However, I realised after I had emptied the water out of the heating element and read the warning on the base about not cooking or immersing in water – that I had misunderstood the instruction about the option of using a separate 1L ovenproof bowl instead of the actual slow cooker dish. So I looked up Sarah Flower’s website and spotted a mobile number. I was chuffed to bits to find that it was actually her answering and she was able to clarify my confusion. The book is packed full of great recipes and I’m going to enjoy working through them. OH’s warning to me to be careful when ‘dabbling with the unknown’ – usually referring to the iron and the vacuum cleaner – obviously includes my slow cooker! Well you live and learn. So the 1L ovenproof bowl sits inside the slow cooker bowl – not the base!!! Fortunately I’m still here to tell the story.

@mjrbcd44 – yes, at long last, the breweries are realising there is a gap in the market for good AF beers. I just cottoned on last night that BrewDog Nanny State is only around 20 calories for the entire 330ml bottle! I did look to see if you can order it online to the US but unfortunately not yet.
@anna6 – you are having a bad time of it – sending a big virtual hug x
@lindasue – I’m sure you would enjoy reading ‘Alcohol Explained’ purely from a research pov – it is a fascinating read – very clear and factual. The author is keen for people to spread the word and recommend the book if appropriate. I already responded in a review that I think the book should be read by every teenager in school and be available on prescription from the Doctor. It can be that effective in totally changing mindset about alcohol. The first 5 pages can be read on http://www.alcoholexplained.com. Thanks for your fasting article link – I’ll read that shortly.
@leggit – hope you have survived the Bomb Cyclone – sounds alarming!!
@bigviking – you’ll be back in the swing of it before you know it. You’ve already proved to yourself you can do it.
@diverdog – hope you have a super cruise – and some sun maybe?
@Oh no nearly 5 0 – the first 5 days are the worst in stopping the plonk, it should get easier from now on. Drinking AF red wine is a bit like drinking tea without sugar after a lifetime of using sugar. When you go back to the tea with sugar it tastes awful. I remember during my longest period of going dry when someone gave me a glass of wine with alcohol and it tasted awful because I was so used to the AF version. And that was years ago. The industry has really upped their game and AF varieties are definitely improved. Maybe read the first 5 pages on the website I mentioned to @lindasue for some inspiration.
@rahul1905 – glad to hear that you are feeling happy and in the groove 🙂
@golden Sun – well at least your food dragon is making some healthy choices – nought wrong with sundried tomatoes, scrambled eggs and peanut butter 🙂

Had a good NFD yesterday – about 200 cals below TDEE. Planning a controlled NFD today – around BMR.

Day 5 Newcastle UK NFD 🇬🇧.

    Day 5. UK NFD
@strawberriesandcream thanks for the pep talk. I’m also breaking out into spots, so perhaps my liver detox has started 👍

    Day 5, NFD, Wales, UK

    Weight: 52.1

Picked up slow cooker yesterday evening. Today is a NFD for me and if I was going to have one drink a week, today would be that day. I am going to try going without, but I will see how the day unfolds.

    Day 5, UK, FD
81.0 kg. I keep traversing the badlands between the 70s and 80s. Last night’s almonds and mince pies indulgence sure didn’t help, but I think I am slightly down on 2 days ago, so overall moving in the right direction.

    Day 5 London UK FD
Still dry, can’t imagine having alcohol again at the moment, but off to Rome again on Monday ( it’s the bloomin’ Campari that tempts me..). Wish me luck for two weeks of sobriety in Italy. It can’t be impossible can it?
Not doing very well at fasting in January. My OH doesn’t seem to be taking my fasting seriously ( not surprising as I’m a notorious quitter) and keeps getting food ready on my FD which I have to refuse. Not great for marital harmony. Hey ho.

    Day 5 North Wales NFD
Good fast day yesterday so I am going to treat my husband and I to Jamie’s salmon curry out of his Christmas book with the crispy fish skin tonight. Yum

    Day 5, Cornwall UK, NFD

Another weekly weigh-in (I feel equal measures of fear and anticipation approaching the big Friday weigh-ins!) and 0.5kg down. Thats success for me as I follow a basic 5:2 with no extra fast days, etc. Down to 88.5kg and lots to go, but lots lost too, so it feels good.

I am sorry to admit, @onahealthyhigh, that I did eat that extra slice of soughdour bread! After congratulating myself on this forum I fell flat on my face two hours later. I blame it on the glass of wine. Resisting snacking is somehow much harder on NFDs, and after drinking wine – clearly a personal challenge for me to overcome.

@Maaayyaa – yoga is brilliant! It transformed my body from premature aching (going up stairs, getting off the floor/sofa) to no aches at all in less than 6 months – perhaps the fasting helped too – the combination of yoga and fasting is really really good (for me anyway!). Join our plank challenge?

    Day 5 UK NFD

Well I am there, at the original goal of getting below my wedding weight of ten stone, that I set when I first posted on this website but never fully believed was ever going to happen. And far from looking too thin, as I told myself I would be when I wanted to stop, I can still see places I could still lose from. My BMI is now 20.9, my waist to height ratio 0.38. I have lost a total of 50kg along the way. It is hard to think I had let myself get that big, but I still have the tent like clothes that used to be tight to prove it.

This last burst of weight loss has been aided by my impacted wisdom tooth making food very unappealing. I just hope the antibiotics I have reluctantly started taking for it don’t destroy my lovely set of rehabilitated gut bacteria and ruin everything. But it isn’t getting better using topical treatment 🙁 And I need some sleep.
