  • Day 21 – Ireland 🇮🇪 – NFD

    This is 3 mornings in a row that I have slept through till late morning 😱 I am normally a very early riser. Getting up at 5.30am for work tomorrow might be a struggle 😳

    Thanks all for your welcome home wishes. The luggage made it back home eventually. . Guess it was too much to expect the bags to make it from Peru to Amsterdam, to London, to Dublin at the same time as us 😉

    I weighed this morning just for fun…..looks like 10 pounds up 😱 Water weight from flights, lack of exercise the past few days…not going to be derailed…will start a 3 days B2B FD tomorrow, then my sister gets married on Thursday so NFD but I won’t be drinking, (I will be a Dry Januarian for the day), and a final LFD on Friday. See if I can shift these holiday pounds.

    But it was well worth it.

    @annemarilyn you are so lucky to have Peru to look forward too.

    Rome. NFD but dry…
    Finally leaving Rome tomorrow. Feel like I’ve been here for months, but had a lovely time. Not looking forward to the cold in London tomorrow.
    Haven’t fasted in Rome but I won’t do that again. I feel really stuffed. My OH loves breakfast but I’ve got used to not bothering. Can’t wait to get back to 5:2.
    No point in stressing. Will be pleased if I never see pizza or pasta again. Need to re-read the fasting books and that’ll hopefully set me straight.
    Hope everybody has a good day. H

    Day 21, Newcastle UK, NFD

    Day 21 USA (Illinois) NFD

    Made yesterday a pretty good CD. Having issues with my Wi-Fi at the house now. Was trying to set up a new ethernet bridge for the TiVo, and did something to the settings. It will either be a factory re-set of the wi-fi or perhaps a new unit. I bet this one is over 10 years old. Time flies!

    Onward and downward.

    Day 21 Newcastle UK NFD 🇬🇧.
    No bike ride today just very cold so I did an hour on the rowing machine in the house.
    Happy today 2lb lighter at 198lb and latest grandson home with his Mam so second operation not needed for Heather thank goodness. Snowing again here in Newcastle.
    Thank you so much for the kind words everyone feeling truly blessed. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. 😁😁😁😁😁

    Day 21 Belfast NFD

    I can’t believe that yet another month is nearly gone. It’s time I stopped faffing around.
    Welcome back to a cold and damp reality @daffodil2010! You’ll have that excess baggage despatched in no time!

    I well and truly fell off the wagon last night. Ah well, today’s a new day

    “You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching,
    Love like you’ll never be hurt,
    Sing like there’s nobody listening,
    And live like it’s heaven on earth.”

    Day 21 – USA – NFD

    Day 21…..Florida…..NFD

    So, I stuck with my plan to get more protein in yesterday. Although, maybe I should have slowly worked more in because last night my digestive system was mad. I do suffer from IBS with constipation, so I’m hoping I don’t send myself into a tail spin with to much protein.

    @bigviking……. you are not alone. I’m only 4lbs away from my goal, was 7 until I decide to get the flu. I’ve been here for a while. In an odd way, I think making us struggle for those last few lbs is our mind and bodies way of making us remember the hard work we’ve put in and not to back slide when we do start the maintenance phase. Rumor has it that weight loss is the easy part, maintenance is the phase that tests us on are commitment of a healthy lifestyle.
    I’m thinking about going back and rereading my notes and goals that I wrote down when I first started, maybe that will give me the kickin thebutt I need…..

    @michilinme……Thank you for your kind words. This forum has always been a good sounding board for me. Sometimes, I just rambled to get it out of my brain, and seeing it written down most of the time allows me to see the greater picture.
    One thing, I learn many years ago that if people find no fault in their actions they will develope a scenario in which places you in the same box that they are in. As a way of justifying their behavior. So, when I spoke to her attitude and her interactions with customers of course, she will try to show my actions are similar.
    Unfortunately what she failing to see, is that I’ve learned to read my customer very well. I know what I can say, how I can say it that relaxes the customers and makes the experience fun and enjoyable.
    Why am I still employed and successful is because I’ve put the time and effort into it. I’m still learning and expanding my knowledge base. I ask questions, research and when contractors or representatives come in, I listen and ask questions. My job doesn’t stop at 5 when I punch out for the day.

    @mjrbc…… I am a Design Consultant for bathrooms, kitchens and flooring for new builds and remodels. So, if your building a new home or remodeling a existing home in my area, you would see me. I help bring your dreams or ideas in your head into your living space.

    @dafoldil……traveling can sometimes do a number on your system…… no worries! I find once I get back to normal scheduled programming my body, gets back to what it’s suppose to do. I’m putting you in my pocket……So your body has no choice but to start behaving!

    Okay, well it’s a beautiful day, so!

    I’m going outside to stand, so if anyone ask just tell them I’m OUTSTANDING!

    2nd post
    Looks like I’m wishing my life away. It is of course Day 21… NOT 23!

    I am missing the wine, but I am not coming off the Dry January wagon! So I popped in to the local Waitrose this afternoon and picked up 3 alcohol free wines that were reviewed in the Saturday edition of The Times two weeks ago. 1 red and 2 whites. I have yet to meet an alcohol free wine I like, but am willing to give these three a go. And if they fail to hit the spot, the one the wine writer really, really recommended is available from Tesco, so that will be my next port of call.

    I’ll keep you posted 🍷🥂

    Day 21, Rocky Mountains, US, NFD

    Day 21 McMinnville Oregon USA – NFD
    Day 20
    Day 19
    Day 18
    Day 17
    I’ve lost my mojo!!

    Ok, I still haven’t met an alcohol free wine I like. I’ve gone right off the Saturday Times wine critic. The red one was particularly vile. I’ve had glasses of Ribena making a better fist of it. Even if I was three sheets to the wind, that would not have been allowed to pass my lips!

    Roll on Feb 1st!

    Day 21 Oregon USA NFD

    Doing 16:8 today to try and curb bad NFD habits.

    @BigViking–I hope the NA wines that I’ve seen are becoming much more available in the UK are good and make their way over to the US. Because I’m with you–I tried the highest recommended NA wine here and it was terrible. Still also looking for a good NA beer and have yet to find.

    @flourbaby–I think you may have misunderstood. Two pounds away from my <<January>>goal only. Which is still 20+ pounds away from my overall goal. I just haven’t been attentive and with the holiday up and down I feel like I’ve been hovering around this number for about six weeks now. And being newbieish, I think I can do better. I know what’s holding me up and just need that resolve to kick in. It’s a work in progress. 😊

    @Bert1802–thank you that helps me understand better your work challenges. My sister is an interior designer and focuses on “aging in place” so I totally know the balance you have to develop between directing clients and listening to them. 👍🏻 As you said, you don’t succeed for as long as you’ve been there without learning some “finesse”.

    Love the quote @debster251. Right back on the wagon with you, I’m pulling you up mentally. Tomorrow’s a new day.

    @Daffodil2010–hope you can successfully and happily wake early tomorrow.

    Going to enjoy watching some football today–even though my team is done. Cold and rainy outside so it doesn’t feel too guilty of a pleasure.

    “Figure out what’s good for you and then create a liking for it. You have to work at living!”

    Day 21, Gozo, Malta, nfd

    We ate out for lunch today and this evening I ate a couple slices of pizza, a piece of Christmas cake, a small piece of rainbow and white chocolate cake and mulled wine. I went over my tdee today. Tomorrow is the first of B2B2B for me.

    Good night 😴💤 everyone, onwards and downwards.

    Day 21 UK NFD

    Forgot to weigh myself again this morning, sufficient unto tomorrow. Got fed up on Saturday when weight was up in the afternoon – why wouldn’t it be after 2litres water & with heavy clothes on?!! Somehow just seeing those numbers back for the 4th time was a bit depressing. But my fat suit is shrinking, my total calories for the week are almost 4000 down on my TDEEso hopefully i’ve lost a lb at least!

    Went out today, definitely coming down with something but thought I needed the boost of people and community after a few days of just work conversations. Lovely to catch up with old friends and new, and some really helpful conversations that remind me who I am and reflect back something of what I can do. I feel re-affirmed, re-energised and ready to tackle the week ahead, gently.

    Tonight i’m pushing the boat out with a whole baked Camembert which needs eating up asap! It’s the only cheese leftover from Christmas that I didn’t freeze – the rest are lying in weight for planned future enjoyment. Going to have it with some lightly steamed cauliflower and some sweet potato wedges – yum! Goodness knows, I’ll appreciate it much more as an occasional treat than a weekly (or daily!) routine, esp as I’ve had the last 3wks free of sugar, alcohol and refined carb. It’s treat time.

    Tomorrow’s a FD, plenty of time to repent at leisure 🙂

    Day 21 – SW WA USA – NFD

    Planning to make some homemade chicken soup; maybe I’ll try some of the Miracle noodles with it. Has anyone tried that?
    My stomach woke me up in pain during the night, so changing to low key, stay close to home day. We’ll see if work is on for tomorrow or not.

    I really like the tone of this international forum. I recently found a Facebook 5:2 group, but may un-follow. I’m spoiled after being part of this positive, flexible, diverse group!

    @daffodil2010 – so glad your luggage caught up with you.

    @awilson – I’m sorry you’ve lost your mojo. Hopefully you’ll find it shortly. In the mean time don’t beat up on yourself & keep checking in so you can be supported and encouraged. Each ones journey is different.

    Together we are stronger!

    Day21 UK NFD

    @stevetoontaxidriver, brilliant news re baby and mum. I’m pining for the new baby smell! When you did your cruise last year was it on Britannia or Azura , looking at doing the same this year.
    @daffodil2010, you’ve kept us all entertained and made January feel so much warmer with your Peruvian journey. Good luck with first day back in work tomorrow.
    @annemarilyn, wonder if the FB group you found is the same as I joined at the beginning of January. I Unjoined yesterday as the one I was on seemed to consist of some quite judgemental people, if anyone suggested b2b or 3:4 they’d get knocked back quickly by someone pointing out the error of their ways. Makes you realise what a supportive group this is.
    @bigviking, I’m with you, I’ve tried a few low/no alcohol wines and they’re all horrible.

    On Friday my best friend fell and broke her shoulder – ouch. She looks after her grandson on a Monday, so I volunteered my service. He’s 13 moths old and just walking. Wish me lunck everyone!

    Day 21, UK, NFD

    Another fine day, apart from total weather misery 😒 , its been cold and raining all day. I’m making some beef broth for the first time, might try it tomorrow on my FD. @rainbowsmile I think you mentioned that you make bone broth all the time? Would you mind giving your recipe please? I’m learning 🙂

    I understand your frustration @bigviking, its very frustrating. But they say the less weight you have to lose the harder it gets. Its those last few pounds that are the hardest. Just keep going 🙂

    @awilson I hope you find your mojo soon 🤗

    @stevetoontaxidriver so great to hear all is good with your DIL and your new grandson is home 😀

    For all who are having blips and down days, remember it will pass, just carry on and all will be fine 🙂

    Good luck Saffy420 with your babysitting tomorrow. I do it most days every week with my grandchildren. All they need is Love ❤️ and food.

    Still day 21 –
    @saffy420, yes it must be the same group. Someone asked if anyone was combining 16:8 with 5:2 and a few commented. I chimed in & said that I was combining them & then admin stopped the conversation.
    Sounds like you’ll be getting a different kind of workout as you keep up with a 13 month old.

    Day 21, USA, NFD

    Lots of interesting news to catch up on, esp as I missed yesterday!

    I like the “apple test” @Strawberriesandcream, so true. Definitely adding that one to my mental checklist.

    Hope this working week works out better for you, @bert1802. Nothing worse than knowing you’re gong to have a confrontation with a colleague, and especially frustrating when they won’t recognise your efforts to help!

    Glad to read the good news re Heather and the new grandson, @Stevetaxidriver. You must all be v relieved.

    Ha ha – you should be a wine critic, @bigviking! Based on your reviews, I might just substitute Ribena completely for alcohol-free vinos; I quite like Ribena! (Well, I did when I was a kid…)

    Ok, football time!

    Day 21,Germany, NFD
    It’s not going good for me this month! Another binge (chocolate and cookies…) tonight until my stomach really hurt! I don’t know what I am doing wrong – feel quite desperate at the moment. Perhaps I want to be too strict and the pendulum is swinging out to the other extreme?
    I am scared that 5:2 doesn’t work for me anymore (perhaps because I am coming from an eating disorder?)
    I really really want to do better than in the last weeks! I mean, I am not talking about some cookies or some sweets but about really big amounts!
    I need to plan my days and especially my food more carefully ahead, maybe write it down! I need to watch what kind of food does give me big cravings and let go of them (sugar, bread, pizza, …)
    This week I will fast Monday, Wednesday, Friday and I will plan ahead all days!
    Sorry for talking so negative but I really feel desperate…

    Hang in there, @miraclelou. We’re holding your hand, so to speak, so vent away. We’ve all been there in one way or another.

    This WOL does work, but I don’t think anyone would say it’s easy. Sounds like you’re already planning to plan for this week, so I can hear your optimism and hope. You CAN do this!! It also seems like you’re aware of which foods trigger your cravings, so plan around those. And log on here for more support whenever you’re tempted by those foods. Put the last 21 days of January behind you, be kind to yourself, and just start again tomorrow. You can do this!

    I can feel your despair @miraclelou, but hang in there! Maybe you are being too hard on yourself? As you said, too strict? Maybe have 2 FD instead of 3 for now?
    Just some suggestions, nothing earth shattering but sometimes when we try too hard we wear ourself out. We’ve all been there one way or the other. Don’t forget to be kind to yourself. We are here for you 💗

    I forgot …. I’ve been doing really badly with planks! I blame this cold, that definitely left me without energy, but I really never felt so weak 😐 . I mean I can hardly do 30 seconds before I start feeling like I’m going to fall right on my nose 😲 . I’ll keep trying and building strength. I’ll get there in the end 🙂

    @saffy420.
    BRITANNIA. Southampton to Madeira 3 days then 5 days to the Caribbean St Lucia,Antigua,St Vincent,grenada and two days in Barbados.fly back to Manchester. It was a repositioning cruise it stopped working the med to work the Caribbean for four months. It does the cruise back in March. I’ve been on Thompson, Royal Caribbean, Princess and P&O and enjoyed them all but BRITANNIA is very English three pin plugs a kettle in your room for tea and coffee. BRITANNIA just about edged it for me and the wife. Mind I’d had a tough year and needed a restful holiday so those days at sea were a god send. Love cruising my holiday of choice every time ⛴⛴⛴⛴⛴⛴⛴⛴⛴⛴⛴⛴⛴⛴

    Day 21/NFD/Melbourne Australia

    @miraclelou I really feel for you. Perhaps you are being too strict with yourself and expecting too much? I agree to try the basic 5:2 until you are feeling more in control. Planning will help. On non fast days aim to eat healthily. In the early days I wasn’t even aware of TDEE. I didn’t want to count calories. Calorie counting always lead to negative behaviours. So I focused on portion control and healthy foods. Smaller crockery really helped. It made me realise just how much I overate. To reduce bingeing and snacking can I suggest you rid your house of temptations? Will power is very overrated. If its in the house I will eat it. Focus on one habit at a time. Iff you are feeling deprived allow yourself a ‘treat’. Don’t let your desire to enjoy build up to a binge because you are feeling deprived. You can have what you fancy. Over time the types of food you fancy change. Small steps, perhaps smaller losses but small losses lead to a smaller, healthier you in the long run. Best wishes for a sustainable journey.

    Las Vegas NV USA
    Day 20 NFD
    Day 21 WFD

    Wow there are a lot of posts to catch up on after three days away. Congrats to those of you staying dry and on program. @bigviking, I feel your frustration. It’s tough when you make the effort and you don’t get the expected results. But losing fat is not a linear thing. Sometimes the scale moves and sometimes it doesn’t. Stay the course and you will get where you want to be.

    I had a couple of very generous NFD’s on 19 & 20. The OH dragged me off to some of her favorite places to eat in LA and I’m afraid I overdid it. On a good note I did get my upper body weight work out in yesterday and a good HIIT on the bike today. Although I was still sore I could already work much harder and I’m very pleased.

    Water fast going quite well today, no hunger or weakness.

    2nd post

    @awilson I’m so sorry I missed your post earlier today–and sorry your mojo is missing. Perhaps it is being close to your goal? You will find it and maybe aim for one really good FD and start there?

    @miraclelou–I second (and LOVE) what @onahealthyhigh says. I want things to go quicker but I also have some bad habits that I’m trying to change and hard wiring in my brain that needs retrained…so I hear @at‘s words in my mind whenever I start feeling like I’m derailing (which I have a few times this month!) .5 pounds weekly lost is 26 pounds in a year. How happy I will be in October this year if I’m 26 pounds less than I was in October 2017. Not feeling too deprived is still really critical for me right now as I work on changing my habits. But one habit at a time. Right now I’m still focused on two FD’s per week. Period.

    @annemarilyn and @ saffy420 I think I joined the same FB forum!! Was looking for enthusiastic posts and ideas and just doesn’t come close to what we have here! Unfollowing.

    Day 21 Sarasota, Florida CD @miraclelou If you’re trying to do 3 FD’s a week I think that’s too hard. Slow and steady wins the race. Knowing you’re all out there helped me through this week where I needed a reset (due to indulging in ice cream.) I’m being very careful about what I have in the house and where I go in town.

    Day 21, USA, Missouri Ozarks, NFD

    Hello everybody, hope this finds all well (and those that aren’t well, hope they are improving.) My husband is a bit under the weather, nothing serious (I hope) – just a cold.

    SO, I am making his favorite comfort food (he even had me bring it to him in the hospital once). Garlic butter crusted baked chicken on top of buttered egg noodles in cream of chicken soup. Yep, I am. And I will be indulging as well.

    I just bake the chicken (today it is legs, his favorite piece) in a cast iron skillet in the oven until they start getting crispy then drain off all the grease and top with a pat or so of real butter and sprinkle with crushed garlic and a bit of garlic salt and get them really crispy under the broiler. Of course, just boil the wide egg noodles until tender, drain and add a can of cream of chicken soup (undiluted) and a glob of real butter and stir it all together. Top with pieces of the chicken and sprinkle with parsley so it looks -as my fifty year old son would say- all fancy !

    I also happen to have a nice loaf of fresh French bread that I will warm a bit and top with garlic butter as well.

    Julia Child would be proud.

    Come on down !

    Day 22 – Japan – FD (#5) 85.5kg

    Weight is up. Dec/Jan I relaxed a bit and was allowing myself a few ice cream bars a week. My body just doesn’t handle that much sugar well so I’m stopping that. I’ve also trimmed back on NFD starting yesterday. However, I’m pretty sure it is the sugar that really pack on fat. However I’m starting to notice it so it is time to trim back again.

    The cold and wet is restricting my activities too. Thankfully Tokyo starts warming up in later February.

    Day 22 country West Australia FD
    So after a few months of ……. consuming enough for a small country have decided to be sensible and reset.
    @awilson, I too lost my mojo ( mine seems to go on holiday just when I need it the most!) and the dreaded Fat Fairy has come with her whole gang and jumped on my scales AND stuck a small tyre of fat around my waist , which had disappeared this time last year.
    Have made some silly decisions re food – can cheesecake, roast pork WITH crackling and all the roast veggies, plus cream horns PLUS doughnuts come in under 800 calories on a FD ????????
    I am happy to hold your hand if you would like to mosey ( ? Moseley??!) along the path of 5:2 while we get ourselves back on track.
    @steve toon, congrats on your grandchild and glad all going well with mum and Bub.
    @dykask, you and me both!
    @songbirdme, loved the joke!
    Have not had time to read all the posts but gradually catching up.
    Glad to be back on this forum and getting serious about health and weight loss.
    Hope everyone has a good day.
    Just off to see if I can find where I might have put my brain…….

    Day 22, India FD
    Haven’t posted here regularly but following One meal a Day except on weekends. But it seems to be working. I hope to be able to reach my goal for this month.

    Day 21 Canada NFD
    Boy o boy I seem to be enjoying dark chocolate a lot lately. Maybe a sugar free challenge is on my horizon

    Day 22, Norway, FD

    A busy weekend for me. Worked at the elderly centre Saturday and Sunday, makes it real easy to not go over TDEE. It might even been a somewhat FD both days. Not going on the scales until tomorrow morning.
    Back at my normal work today, hopefully a busy day here as well. A headache out of this world today 🙁

    Have a great day everyone.

    Pocket Fasters for today – please feel free to copy and add your name if you are fasting today:

    Second Post
    FD going well today. Being very mindful of not eating. The first mouthful really sets my digestive juices in motion and then , well…. it is too easy to keep eating.
    Have drunk plenty of water – I slosh when I walk!!
    Hoping all those who are struggling just get through today. One day at a time.😅

    Day 22, Cornwall UK, FD

    @miraclelou – please keep going – we need you to succeed so we can succeed together. Most of us are hard-wired to like sweet things – don’t be too hard on yourself. You can’t re-write yesterday but you can decide what you will do today! 💪☺

    Day 22 – Ireland 🇮🇪 -FD
    1st of B2B2B

    At last, a fast day after nearly 3 weeks of non fasting, I am ready for this. I went to bed early last night and had no problems with my 5.30am start. Already consumed 1.5 Litres of water, took a 20 minute walk, 60 second plank, and my bag is packed with veg soup and homemade oat bran bread for lunch. A 250 calorie chowder for dinner.
    Today will be 500 or less. Yes, let’s do this 👍

    Good to get back into my routine after such a fabulous Holiday 🤗
    Shock factor of 10lb weight gain is spurring me on to have a clean week……except my sister is inconveniently getting married on Thursday ha ha 😄😄. Looking forward to her big day, however I plan to drive so that will keep me in order and away from the wine bottles ☺️

    I am setting up the February 2018 spreadsheet and will soon post the new February challenge…..where has January gone ?

    Day 22 a very soggy Belfast FD

    I must confess I’ve forgotten to do my plank for the last few days, so here we go…..

    Remember: a quitter never wins and a winner never quits

    Day 22, Finland, FD

    I managed to ruin a great couple of FD by over indulging on the weekend…pizza, chips, cake, chocolate. And it shows by +0,5kg on the scales, and a blah feeling. And the stupid thing is, except for the cake because it was eaten in the company of a great friend 😉 , I didn’t even really enjoy it. The chocolate I ate because i had already ruined the week, It was my first chocolate in 3 weeks and didn’t taste good at all.

    So today I am pressing the reset button….and lasting the whole week! I accepted a job offer today, and am determined that this will be a successful year, keeping mid life crisis at bay!

    Added my name to todays pocket list….

    @dykask
    @lilymartin
    @rahul1905
    @maayyaa
    @kerryn73

    May this be a great week everybody!

    Day 22, Guildford UK, NFD

    I am so sorry I can’t find the post that asked me for my bone broth recipe. So should be grateful if some kind person can help. I had to wait to make more broth before I could write down what I did!

    This is my basic bone broth recipe (and you can use the roast chicken carcass). You can mix turkey and chicken with pork bones. And mix reD meats but I have found red meat bone broth always dominates.

    I use a stainless steel wok as it is easiest to skim in that.

    Put the uncleaned bones from a chicken or 8 chicken pieces in the pot and add boiled water to cover by 1 inch or so slightly cooled. Add a quarted onion and a pinch of salt. I also add some kitchen bay fresh from the garden.
    You will need an acid, old wine, rot gut cider or even lemon in the pot too.

    I boil for 5 mins then cook on medium heat until the bones are soft for about 1.5 hours. Then I let cool and the following day I do this again making sure I have 1 inch of cover. Skim on each boiling. Remove the bones and I always add back the small meat pieces but others may prefer it clear.

    The broth goes jelly like and it can be frozen in ice cube trays. This is concentrated bone broth and can be used to add flavour to cooking or as a clear soup.

    A very lazy way is after boiling to put the whole thing in a slow cooker. I just keep on going until the bones are almost so soft they can be chewed. Don’t add the skin it adds a strange taste. Keep perform topping with water.

    I cook a chicken a week and generally make a batch a week.

    I prefer the chicken bones broth and I add very little Sally.

    Mari

    Salt not Sally. Posted too soon and won’t let me edit.

    Add wine, cider etc to taste at least half a wine glass. I quarter the lemon and zest half of it.

    Mari

    Day 22, UK, FD
    76.8 kg. Yesterday can best be described as self sabotage. Not seeing the numbers I wanted on the scales left me deflated and careless. The hunt for a drinkable non-alcoholic wine hacked me off. So my food choices ended up terrible. I was feeling sorry for myself. NOT a good look! So it tells on the scales this morning.

    Time to hit that rese button and hit it hard. 10 days left of the challenge and 2 kg to go. Five of those days will be 0 kcal FDs, so only *I* can stop *me* from reaching that goal. Time to go back to basics, cut the sugar and be MINDFUL on NFDs.

    We’ve got this!

    Hi guys,

    So I’m new but not so new. I did the 4:3 back in summer of last year and I lost a good amount between June-sept – a few of you might remember me 🙂

    Since then, my weight has creeped up a little although I am much more active so I don’t hold as much fat as I did back then. either way its time to shed a few so I decided to get back to the trusty 4:3.

    I started today so wish me luck.

    Starting weight = 75kg
    Target = 68kg
    Total loss = 7kg

    I plan to fast Monday, Wednesday & Friday (my usual FD). I found that posting on here & reading everyone’s comments really helps so here I am.

    @daffodil2010 count me in for Feb.

    I shall add myself to today’s pocket list:
    @dykask
    @lilymartin
    @rahul1905
    @maayyaa
    @kerryn73
    @xrox

    Day 22, South Wales, FD

    These last 9lbs are proving incredibly stubborn. Weight’s bobbing up and down and no real overall trend. Time to pull out the exercise shoes and go running I think (desperate measures!!)

    Good luck all!

    10.10pm Monday night here!

    Day 22, London, UK, NFD

    @bigviking, I think they’ve got the beer sorted for AF, but wine is a WHOLE different ballgame!!!! I’ve seen people guzzling the stuff and thought to myself ………”Have you actually ever tasted REAL wine????”

    @mjrbcd44, LOL, I knew what you meant!! I too have another 20-ish lbs to eradicate, but I never think about it, I just focus on the manageable monthly goal, otherwise I would give up!!! Being 1lb away from your January goal IS something to celebrate, be kind to yourself, I’m sitting on a plateau watching my goal float away, but hey-ho, such is life my friend!!!! I’m keeping the faith!! @lynned I’m with you and the bouncy-bouncy scales, hence the plateau!!!

    @michelinme – “the rest are lying in weight for planned future enjoyment” – LOL, in ‘weight’ indeed!!!!! Mmmhh cheese!!!!!

    @awilson, unfortunately our mojo comes and goes, it WILL return, you know how this works, you have the tools, when you’re ready you’ll hop back on the wagon no problem, we’re here to drag you back on too, just stay within touching distance!!!!

    @shinything, I’m loving my bone broth at the moment especially whilst everyone around me is coughing and spluttering and doing their VERY best to infect me with a lurgy!!!!!! This is the recipe I use………………..

    @miraclelou, you are not alone, been there done that, the brain is a funny thing; I imagine it having a little chuckle every time it makes us have a “Doh!!!!” moment. That’s why we have blushing, hives and regret. I can only recommend being kinder to yourself, getting back to basic 5:2 and possibly re-reading the book. Stay strong stick with us here ……….. We’ve got you!!!

    @kerryn73, when you re-read your words, does it make sense??!! “The chocolate I ate because i had already ruined the week, It was my first chocolate in 3 weeks and didn’t taste good at all.” We really are good at fooling ourselves, ‘cause you know the week wasn’t ruined and even though it didn’t taste good you still ate it!!!!!!!!! I had a bag of chocolate truffles this weekend………………… I ATE THE ENTIRE BAG, JUST TO GET THEM OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!!! I COULD have just binned them. The shame is strong, the bag would have lasted 6 months in my mums house…………We’re ALL wired differently, I must remember that I lack the ‘off’ button!!!!

    January really is a tough month, Roll-on February, even with a birthday to contend with it MUST be better than this month!!!!

    Onward & Downwards folks!!!!!

    Day 22, Newcastle UK, FD

    Welcome back @xrox – I remember you well. Weren’t you the author of that great quote I reposted a few times – “Hunger is fat crying. Let it weep!!”? All the best.

    @miraclelou – do not fret – what you did is absolutely normal human behaviour. We’re all complicated creatures – constantly arguing with our self-conscious and pushing the boundaries. It’ll happen less and less as time goes on and this WOL becomes the new norm. I did a similar thing this weekend – but thought through the pros and cons beforehand and then went for it with no guilt afterwards. I thought there’s got to be something in that old adage “Feed a cold, starve a fever” – and the cold is improving thank goodness.
