  • Day 12, London, UK, NFD (very CD)

It’s a very late check-in from me, I’ve had a super busy day with pilates, then shopping, so I haven’t caught up on posts, a strange day for me coming in at a respectable 950cals which means I don’t HAVE to do an additional FD or be restricted tomorrow (just mindful!!)

So, I still haven’t got the hang of this international dateline thing……………… Samoa, then New Zealand first-ish, then clockwise around the globe, got that (I think??), but as geography wasn’t my strong point (even 30+ years ago!) I’m not sure whether I’ll be closing the kitchen door on some poor soul about to make breakfast or someone desperate for their ONE, ….. SINGLE, ……. SOLITARY, ………. MUCH ANTICIPATED FD dinner!!!!

Anyhoo, here goes ………………THE KITCHEN IS NOW CLOSED, I promise, I’m not joking, I’m deadly serious, I will break this habit I developed over the 2 week (just in 14 days!!!) Xmas holiday!!! Done!!

Catch-up and comment tomorrow, I hope everyone is doing well!!!

    Day 12 Ireland NFD
    Day 11 CD
    Day 10 FD

Feeling good at the end of this second week although found the last two days very tough… Seemed to be very hungry during the mornings which is not usual for me now. But,definitely feel there is a change happening… A little more wriggle room 😁 I’ll weigh on Monday after a nice weekend away with my man.
Still on the dry and slaying sugar but we’ll be in a nice hotel so it may be a challenge🙄.
Oh yes, someone mentioned a spot.. it’s probably a coincidence but I’ve had two “teenagey” spots since I started back on this WOL..I was never prone to spots before…not a big deal but interesting.
    Have a lovely weekend everyone!

    Day 12 – Iceland – FD

Good FD so far, only liquids until dinner (a small portion of Mejadra from the cookbook Jerusalem http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2012/11/mejadra-from-jerusalem.html), but now I am having a bit of a hard time keeping the sugar dragon at bay… trying to focus on the pocket list and reminding myself of the self-disappointment that awaits me if I give in…

Love reading all the great posts! Where would I be without this fantastic forum!?

    Day 12 NFD Oregon USA

Successful FD yesterday–and felt good this morning! I’m down 2.5 pounds from the beginning of the month which given the weird eating I’ve done (including the cleanse) I am happy with. Have 2.5 to go to reach my January goal and it feels attainable! I’m more of the tortoise variety and really want to maintain the loss over years and this WOL feels like the answer.

@flourbaby–you always make me smile. Of course you are worried about closing the kitchen on us Westerners. Trust me–I think it would take a barricade of some epic proportion to keep me out of the kitchen if it were my one and only fast meal. Heck I’d just trudge over to my neighbors and raid theirs! 🙂

Thanks @shinything and @leggit–I hope you are both feeling better! Been a tough month with sicknesses all the way around. If you can believe it (and knock on wood I’ve steered clear) we have more than 30 of 110 employees that have been out in the last ten days with the flu, or a respiratory virus of some sort. Brutal!! I work for a news/talk radio station and we are actually doing a panel discussion on the flu epidemic as it’s hit 48 states now.

@BeeHealthy–welcome back and I’ve added you to the spreadsheet! Your story is inspiring and love your words of wisdom.

For all of you reaching new lows–congratulations and for those of you who aren’t seeing the numbers you want–JUST KEEP GOING!!

“Figure out what’s good for you and then create a liking for it. You have to work at living!”

    Day 13 – Japan – NFD 81.8kg

Hard to believe that my weight went down 2.8kg. I’m still pretty well hydrated. That is winter in Japan. I’ve noticed now I typically don’t even turn on the heat until the room is under 18C … you just kind of get used to lower temperatures. Thankfully it typically starts warming up by the end of Feb.

    The fast wasn’t bad.

Late post today been out to see a show straight from work. Everything still on Track and I’m up early in the morning for the local 5k park run. Very good NFD but also very controlled eating 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️
I hope everyone has had a good day.

Day 12 – SW WA USA – NFD

So many of you have closed your kitchens across the globe. It really is interesting. Those of us on the west coast of Canada and USA are just about at our supper hour.

@beehealthy – BTW, I did see 2 posts from you in quick succession. It’s hard to figure out sometimes what happens to posts.

@daffodil2010 – Love your descriptions. We are doing Lima, Cusco & Machu Pichu. Will have to check itinerary more thoroughly.

@mari84 – yay for your all time low!

Day 13 NZ FD Going really well so far. Just liquids, haven’t even been tempted to eat anything. I just have to keep it up for the rest of the day now.Not long until dinner although I still haven’t decided what to have. Have a lovely weekend everyone.

    Day 12 California NFD

I’m really late posting today. Work was busy. I made it through my FD yesterday after doing a WFD the day before. The WFD was just an experiment to see if I could go a whole day on calorie-free liquids. I did, then followed with the FD. I wasn’t really hungry but felt a little anxious by last night, not sure why. Weird feeling. The payoff was a loss of 1.8 kg over the 2 days. It was probably mostly water weight, but I’ll take it! It will be interesting to see what my weight is in the morning.

Hope everyone had a good day. Some of you are already well into tomorrow. 😁

Day 12 Sarasota, Florida CD I weigh myself maybe once a month- I could never weigh myself every day. The fluctuations would be very distracting.

    Day 13/NFD/Melbourne Australia

Cool and wet, summer has deserted us. Looking forward to sunnier days.

    Have a great day everyone

    Day 13, Guildford UK, CFD

Yesterday did not go so well. I ate biscuits and left over Xmas stuff. All gone now; then a client brought in a big box of donuts…..

    Nooooooooo

    Truly Nooooooooo

    Kind, generous but Nooooooooo

I might just not say anything and throw them away, is that evil of me?

    Mari

    Day 13, UK, FD
78.0 kg. Yes, finally managed a controlled NFD and my weight dropped 0.3 kg. Time to consolidate it with today’s FD. Now off to walk the dogs 😀

    Have a great weekend everybody!

    Hi everyone
    Day 13, NSW Australia,
    Good FD – 496 cals, 78.9kg
    Enjoy your Sunday
    Bye for now!

    Day 13, Finland, NFD

Back to work today so easier to be good….

    Enjoy the weekend everyone.

    Day13 UK NFD

This week has gone well and was rewarded by a 2lb loss this morning. Now at pre holiday weight😀. I’m still doing the daily plank challenge and thanks to you guys have signed up for a yoga class to start in Feb. Never would have had the confidence before becoming part of this group. @rainbowsmile, you know the right thing to do. Throw those Donuts away, they’re evil tempters who can lead us all astray, just the thought and I can taste them.

Meeting a friend for lunch, she’s had a gastric band so doesn’t eat. I don’t like to eat around her so looks like just coffee -today will be a CD for me. Also being designed driver tonight, removes the challenge of not drinking, so no alcohol for another weekend. Where has this woman come from?

    Happy weekend everyone.

    DAY 12 – Cardiff UK – FD
    DAY 13 – Cardiff UK – NFD

    January Starting weight : 152.9lbs
    January Goal Weight : 148.0lbs
    Todays Weight : 145.9lbs

My weight today is true testament of the ‘quickly on, quickly off’ theory, helped by cutting the sugar since 8th Jan and not drinking any alcohol.

In fairness I rarely drink, I think Christmas/New Year period I drank a total of about 3 bottles of wine, but as having liver function retested in a couple of weeks I also want to make sure I don’t do anything to spike the results.

Just need a nice controlled weekend now to cement my FD losses. Nothing planned apart from decorating, so should be fairly easy to keep on the straight and narrow, but must be careful when I’m tired and achy as that’s the time I may go in search of snacks.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

    Day 13, Newcastle UK, FD

Note to self. Saturday’s just another day of the week – not an excuse to undo all my good work between Monday to Friday.

All the best for a great weekend. The end of one great week and the beginning of the next.

    Day 13-uk-NFD

    2nd post

Interesting video on IF and hunger.

    Day 13 – Peru 🇵🇪 – NFD

We spent 10 hours on a bus yesterday to get from Puno to Cusco. Albeit a luxury coach with a toilet, complementary drinks, and WiFi , and 5 stops along the way, it was still a very long time to be sitting on a bus 😬

We were travelling across the Altoplano, the high plains shared between Peru and Bolivia. It’s a very tough life for the locals. Poverty like I have never seen it. Towns are full of half completed buildings, no glass in the windows, tin roofs, stray dogs, unbelievable amount of litter. Coming from the relatively wealthy and clean environment of Europe it is a shock to witness.

We did find out however that the unfinished buildings were actually a way of tax evasion. If your house is not complete you only pay 10% tax, but are obliged to pay 100% if fully built 😲. Hence the tin roofs… house not yet complete. The poor people who have to live here, oh my 😑

Anyway, we did visit an amazing pre-Inca Temple of the Sun, built to capture the suns rays on June 21st, the Winter Solstice. It was fascinating
@debster251 I thought of you and the winter solstice in our very own Newgrange 😁. Our monument is thousands of years older

So here we are in Cusco, the so-called tourist capital of Peru. It’s here that people base themselves for the big one, the trip to Machu Pichu. We are in a gorgeous hotel in the historic centre. Did not see much last night as the rain came down, I mean it really bucketed down. The Plaza des Armas looked lovely bathed in light with lights twinkling on the hills surrounding, but we saw an Irish bar at the corner and ran in!!!

Shepherds Pie for dinner in Peru 😀. No Guinness on tap so had red wine. As we have acclimatised to the altitude our appetites are better so this might be where the holiday weight starts increasing 😲

On a walking tour of historic Cusco this morning then a free afternoon! Yay!

@annemarilyn it rained very hard last night. I am from Ireland and well used to rain but it was very wet even for me. Pack a really good rain jacket or poncho. Essential this time of year.

Have a good Saturday all. I am still planking much to my pride. Still remain in that pocket group even if my food choices are increasing towards the dreaded white carbs 😬

    Day 13, London, UK, NFD,

    Mornin’ All (just!!),

Feeling particularly chipper this morning, successful fasting will do that, I couldn’t control myself with the booze, chocs, mince pies ……with double cream, crisps etc. over the Xmas hols, but since going dry & then returning to work (easy FDs) on Day 9 I’ve rediscovered my mojo and I’m reaping the benefits………………… Phew!!!! The kitchen didn’t even tempt me last night, the thought of posting here that I once again raided the fridge AFTER dinner was enough to stop me…………… Thanks BFFs (Best Fellow Fasters!!!)

@mjrbcd44, I’m chuckling as I picture your neighbour turning off the lights, barricading the doors & windows and hiding under the bed!!!!

@bigviking, weird isn’t it when you eradicate fat on a NFD? I now realise that CDs and FDs interspersed with 1, or at most 2, ‘anything goes’ days works a treat ………………… it really is just about making sure most NFDs are CDs …… balance is key …..…… simple!!!!

@strawberriesandcream, hang on in there, when it starts to pinch, head back and reread your posts from the beginning, you’ll inspire yourself!!!!!!!!!!

Stay strong everyone, we’ve got this!!!!!

Day 13 Newcastle UK NFD 🇬🇧

    Day 13 – UK – FD
    Day 12 – UK – CD

Well I am all packed more or less 😉 taking an early evening train down to Manchester Airport and staying in a hotel at the airport for the night – my flight leaves at 1130hrs tomorrow morning and I should arrive in Melbourne around 2230hrs on Monday evening ☺️ So looking forward to seeing my sister 👩‍❤️‍👩 and to my niece’s wedding 👰 on Saturday – hoping that the Melbourne weather is kind to her!

Weight this morning 53.4kg/117.7lbs and aiming on doing a 500cal FD today so I should certainly start my holiday below 53kg – will be interesting to see if I manage to fit in any FDs however it should be easy enough for every day to be a 16:8 day she says……….

Fellow Plank Challenge – I will be doing my daily plank challenge and thinking of us all planking across the globe!
Did you know Planks are a phenomenal exercise for core strengthening, as they engage multiple muscle groups simultaneously
Planks can give you a tighter tummy, improved posture, flexibility, and balance, a better mood, and less back pain so keep doing those daily planks 😇

Will try to keep reading the posts for inspiration and will log in daily for accountability even if I don’t get to comment very much – Lovely to have such a mixed group on this Challenge – remember not to measure yourself against someone else – we all start our journey at a different stage and progress at our own pace but a little progress each day adds up to big results!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive, to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.” Emperor Marcus Aurelius

    Day 13 USA (Illinois) NFD

It is very cold here today, but I will be indoors judging the home-school Science Fair today. My dad taught chemistry & physics as his 2nd career, so science was always a part of my life. (Mom was the musician!) I taught middle school music almost all of my music teaching career, so I also know that age group.

But I have been told they are feeding us judges well today. Might just eat breakfast and lunch and skip supper. I’ve ordered a quiche for breakfast, and BBQ pulled pork will be our mid-day meal.

@daffodil2010 – your fascinating trip has me salivating to travel to Peru!

    Onward and downward.

    Day13 Preston uk FD
    Good afternoon 🌈🌎

    5k parkrun✅
    Shopping✅
    Cleaning✅

Busy morning so totally in control of my FD so far, I now have to find something to keep me busy this afternoon. Maybe a bit of car washing? 🤔🤔
Hope you’re all having a good day, wherever you are. 😀🏃‍♀️💪🏻🍏🥗

    Day 13 UK CD

I was really off food yesterday evening bc I was exhausted, no quick carbs or junk in the house & just wanted to pick up something and eat it! I really didn’t fancy FD stew on my NFD 🙁 Ended up making a delicious, speedy & reasonably healthy chocolate banana rice pudding with leftover brown rice, bananas, soya milk & lashings of cinnamon, with a couple of tsps butter, honey & raisins. Perfect friday night comfort food and ate the lot at 525 calories 🙂 Note to self: need to plan a little for this as well as for FD – and try not to get so exhausted.

Going to bake a seedy oat & porridge loaf, and repeat last week’s beetroot, banana & cacao cake. It makes such a difference to have low cal, low carb, healthy food available for treats, quick food and packed lunches. Yoga, meditation, rest & reading, prep & planning for tomorrow, a leisurely bath and an early night.

The day is half gone & I’m only just getting going, but rather than beating myself up I’m trying to count everything I have done this week and not everything that’s still in my head and not yet got to the To Do List! Looking after myself inside & out, being mentally & physically prepared for things, taking time out to review and reflect. Hopefully that will restore and replenish me so I don’t feel swamped or anxious. Goodness, new beginnings and pressures take their toll, and we need to look after ourselves for the long haul.

    Day 13 – Massachusetts – nfd

Well yesterday’s CD just turned into a NFD. I caved and had some chocolate. 🙁 Weight this morning was the same. Today will be another NFD as we are having guests over tonight for games. Feeling a little off today and not really hungry, so we shall see.

Enjoy your Saturdays (or Sundays, if it is already!)!

Really loving all the quotes, especially “done is better than perfect.” I also have always enjoyed this one, “There is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs.”

    Day 13 – USA – NFD

Good FD yesterday, 467 cals. Looks like I’m back to pre-holiday weight, but still have 1.8 lbs. to go to reach my January goal. Lost a few inches too! @at, have fun on your vakay!

Day 13, Rocky Mountains, US, CD

Yesterday’s CD went well, made good food choices, my evening snack dragon was drowned by attending the Symphony. Afterwards I enjoyed a relaxing tea. Today will be another CD. Down about 2 pounds. Yeah! 😊😊😊

Have a great weekend everyone! ⚘🌻⚘🌼⚘

    Day13, Gozo Malta, nfd

I ate some panettone in the afternoon and I shouldn’t have. May have gone over tdee today.

Tomorrow we’re eating at a sushi restaurant in Malta with my first born daughter for lunch.

Have a great Saturday everyone. Stay strong during the weekend.

    Day 13 California NFD

Yesterday was fairly well controlled even though it started out with a couple pieces of toast and butter. I only gained back 300 grams of the 1.8 lost over the 2 previous days of a WFD followed by a 500 calorie FD. 58 this morning.

@flourbaby, a couple days ago you posted about staying out of the kitchen after a certain time. 8 pm til midnight are big snack trigger times for me. I like your “THE KITCHEN IS NOW CLOSED” slogan. I think I will make a business letter sized sign of that in big bold letters (and maybe a funny graphic), print it out, laminate with a ribbon attached and hang it from a cupboard door or on the frig each night after the dinner dishes are cleaned up. It will be a good way to remind myself that snacks are no longer available. Thank you for the idea and inspiration, flourbaby!

@daffodil2010, your travels in Peru sound like so much fun! The long bus ride would be easier to handle with the the toilets, drinks and WiFi. Good to know that such luxuries exist. I had to laugh about you dashing into an Irish ☘️ pub in the rain.

@at, enjoy your trip to Melbourne and your niece’s wedding! Australia is definitely at the top of my list for places I want to someday visit. The time and distance from here makes it a major trip for us. It’s even further for you. Say hi to the Cockatoos for me. 😁 And it will be summer there! Hope you can sleep or at least stay entertained on the long flight.

    Day 13 Oregon USA NFD

@Daffodil2010–Your travel posts are so wonderful! And I had a great vision of you tucking into the pub for some comfort ‘home’ food amidst the beauty of Peru.

@at very safe and happy travels to you! I know it will be a wonderful holiday and you have prepared so well to enjoy without concern for what (or what not) to eat!

@califdreamer–your kitchen closed sign sounds very nice (though I still think mine may need a fence behind it) 😉

@michelinme–your cooking and baking is really inspiring.

Lots of good losses happening!! Congrats to @pashaw, @metatauta, @saffy420,@redrockgirl,@mari84 to name a few!

    @strawberriesandcream-thanks for the link!

Lots of inspiration here for getting things done this weekend. The holiday decorations are top of the list. I could really use a magic wand for this one!🦄 But alas…I will just have to get it done.

“Figure out what’s good for you and then create a liking for it. You have to work at living!”

@mjrbcd44, how about an electric fence? 😁😝😂

    Day 13 Belfast NFD

Having a lazy day but watching what I eat.
@at safe travels, enjoy your trip and savour your time with your family.
@songbirdme – you are certainly a busy lady of many talents!

“The best investment you can make is in yourself”

    3rd Post

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this before, but for you Plank Challengers in the UK, US (or ?) who own an Alexa device, there is a skill that you can enable for a 5 minute plank workout. “Alexa, start 5 minute plank.”

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/cubic-ai-5-Minute-Plank-Workout/dp/B06XHTCB3Z/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1515872923&sr=8-3&keywords=Five+minute+plank+workout

I haven’t tried it yet, but just enabled it. Maybe it will motivate me to join the challenge.😊

    Day 12,Germany NFD
A little too much today even though I skipped breakfast 😏
Well, nothing more today! And tomorrow is a new day!
I don’t know why but I freak out so quickly with my kids! When they argue or when they are loud… Could that correlate with my eating? Has anyone experience on this?
Makes me feel very powerless! And angry and guilty at the same time…

Day 13 Sarasota, Florida, NFD It does not feel like Florida here today! I took a long awaited bike ride but the weather was not as forecast- it was chilly and windy. But still, up North they’re not riding bikes!

    Day 13 North Wales NFD

    Day 13 UK (visiting) NFD

    Day 13, UK, NFD

Its been a good day eating wise, I feel happy with it, and happy that my cold is getting better. Its a working weekend for me.

Thanks for that link @Strawberriesandcream its really interesting, similar to the book I’m reading, that someone mentioned here (sorry can’t remember who 🙁 ) , The Obesity Code. Its a good read.

@at have a lovely holiday! Enjoy yourself in Melbourne and keep us posted if you can.

Its getting late, and its another working day for me tomorrow, so I bid you all good night 😴

Day 13, USA, Missouri Ozarks, NFD

Hello all – busy here but wanted to check in.

Made homemade baked spaghetti (exactly like lasagna but layered cooked spaghetti instead) – have it and garlic bread in the oven so better run.

    Maintaining at goal weight.

Speaking of weight, I read this on one of those successful change your life stories about weight and exercise –

How much weight have you lost?

Scale weight? Around 50 pounds. Body fat loss? Probably 70 plus.

    To your health all.

    Melbourne Day 14

Thank you Mjrbcd44 for hosting January.

Uh oh… so I was fine up until the week after Christmas and then I went for a slide – backwards! I started with 16:8 again the last few days, which I don’t find at all hard these days. I will get back on board tomorrow with fasting 2 days per week, but won’t be a regular poster.

    Best wishes to all here!

Day 13 – SW WA USA – NFD Traveling to ocean.

Stayed off of sugar as a friend and I explored the Oregon coast. Hopefully will get a good walk on the beach tomorrow.
Need to catch up on posts.

    Day 13 2nd post

I am really disappointed in my efforts yesterday and today.
Without going into full details I have overdone alcohol and food.

    My stomach hurts to boot.

    Sigh…reset tomorrow.

    Day 14, NSW Australia, NFD
    Hi everyone
    Just checking in.
    Enjoy whatever you are doing.
    Bye for now!

    Day 14, UK, NFD?
77.1 kg. Very pleased to have lost 2lb yesterday. Less pleased that I’ve picked up a nasty cold. Sore throat, sinus problems, streaming nose and a temperature. Only managed to get in 4 1/2 hours of sleep last night and that was mostly half sat up in bed.

Today is supposed to be a NFD, but I feel so sh*t that it might turn into an accidental FD. Hope you all are having a better Sunday than me 👍

    Day 14-newcastle uk-FD

First fast on a Sunday for me. Wish me luck🤞. Needs must. Just going to stay busy. Have a stressful day at work tomorrow so waking up in the morning knowing I succeed at my fast will make the day that bit better. Have a good one x
