  • *sorry, all relaxed ABOUT everything by now?

Sorry Intesha, meant to say I agree with you & Thin about psychological barrier. Very envious about High Tea as well!! xx

Intesha – It’s just a thought, but do you drink any diet soft drinks, or anything similar? Someone suggested on another forum, that this will prevent/retard weight loss on 5:2. Hope you don’t mind me asking.

I also read about another interesting point. For those of us who are cautious of carbs, for every 1g of carb, it takes another 4g of water to digest it = fluid retention and weight increase! …I knew there was a reason out there somewhere!

    CM xx

Well very briefly I saw 79.9 this morning. Just stood there and stared at it. Then thought damn I am having high tea today but I have seen it and now I know the scales aren’t stuck on 80. I will enjoy today and take it easy over the weekend.

CM, no I don’t drink soft drink mostly water, one large black coffee (real coffee, not instant) for morning tea and then green tea (probably 3 a day) the rest of the day. And I don’t mind you asking. Everyone’s metabolism is different but it just might be something you don’t realise you are doing until someone mentions it.

MK, just re-reading your post, you are such a caring person, I’m old enough to be your Mum and you seem to have the same nature as my daughter. Everyone on this forum really cares and we are all strangers even though it doesn’t feel like it. Thank you for all your encouraging words.

    Hi all
Intesha that is wonderful that you saw the seventies! Enjoy high tea and don’t be discouraged if weight goes up because it will come down again fasting. I often put on 300g-1.2kgs between fast days but I keep tweeking and keep fasting. I can’t remember how much you have lost this year? Hard not to get impatient when working hard. My younger sister keeps trying to fast/lose weight but keeps falling off the wagon however as soon as she makes any effort the weight just falls off- I have sometimes cried about this over the years because it is always such a challenge for me- however I have now accepted this is my body and my journey so as people on this forum have heard, I fast, exercise 6 days a week and am paleo! One day I will be slim and stay that way but I will always have to make the effort to care for myself.
CM I have felt that puffiness! That’s what I didn’t get with the paleo pizza base so lucky I like cooking and am currently not working. I went from working 45 hours a week plus another 8 in travel to staying at home being a wife and mother- and loving it.

Thank you AC. I started the 5:2 on 1st February at 87.1. I fast Tuesday/Thursday and go to the gym 4 times a week. I know it’s a journey and we all want it yesterday.

Intesha, brilliant news, did you take a photo of your feet on the scales? That seems a good, steady loss to me over those few months. Wish I’d lost 7 kgs since February!

Intesha, Woohoo down 7.2 kg! Fabulous…..so very happy for you. Now that is something to celebrate at your high tea today! Isn’t it a funny feeling when you hit a new number & just stand there & stare at the scales…..you’ve lost more than me! Keep going girl!! CM xx

Morning all. Happy to report that I’ve finally broken through…..63.8 this morning. Did the normal stare at the numbers & then shrieked. OH came running in to find me jumping around punching the air yelling 63.8. Thinks I’m going crazy. Couldn’t find a Monte Carlo MK88, but will certainly celebrate with a treat this morning. Have a wonderful day, cyber buddies. CM xx

Well done CM, that’s fantastic! Very happy for you, yippee!

Woo hoo! Look at us go!! So much good news to read this morning! Intesha I am so happy for you, so pleased you finally got your 79. You have worked hard and it’s paid off, enjoy your high tea and time with girlfriends. It may not be good for the waistline but it’s good for the soul and that’s just as important 🙂 CM that’s awesome news about your 63.8! We are now exactly 1kg apart! I got 64.8 this morning after a feed day yesterday. I was 64.9 after a fast day Wednesday, go figure! Must have been that fat burning monte carlo that did it 😉 Very happy. AC my sister in law is like that- it’s so easy to feel jealous of others but I just think that despite losing weight on 5:2, we are prolonging our life, caring for our body, experiencing SO many other fantastic benefits so we’re getting more out of this than those ‘lucky’ ones who drop weight or don’t gain weight are. Intesha, I love my Mum, she is one of my best friends! Sounds like you have a great relationship with your daughter. We’re lucky to have such wonderful Mums. CM I am very jealous of your 28 degree weather, it’s freezing in Melbourne! Thin, glad you made it out, bummer you didn’t crack it but you’ll just have to go back and do it again with a revised plan 🙂 Did you go with your OH and daughter?

My goodness that’s a lot of smiley faces!

Congrats too, MK88. I was up & down all week. Guess I had resigned myself to having to wait til we got back from vacation. My treat this morning was avocado on toast & a butternut snap bikkie with my coffee! That would have been classified as torture at the beginning of the year!! Amazing how our tastes have changed. Happy house moving! When do the relies arrive?
    CM xx

Woohoo MK88! A lot of smiley faces and a lot to smile about. Well done everyone. Yes, the ‘lock-up’ was a family affair – birthday present from teen.

    Well done CM!

Well done, everyone, and TGIF! Some good stories and lots to smile about.

I have been doing the oil pulling for a week now, and am not sure if there is much improvement in colour. I don’t notice any change in mouth condition, and

Well done on the scales, CM, and Intesha too. I must report a PB this morning – first time in the 57s – 57.9. Within my arbitrary self-imposed wriggle-room at last. Yee hah! 🙂

You will get to your goal, AC, with your determination and this support. Recognising how we are all different is a major step.

You had a lucky escape, Thin. Good fun, though?

You may have heard of the drenching we had yesterday, lots of drying out today. The rain gauge was ott when I emptied it this morning – 100 mls in the last few days. The trains are not running, and bus replacements are intermittent, so just as well I’m not at work today.

28 degrees, CM! Not possible even in summer here. The heater is on – 13 outside.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone, and keep warm (unless you are in WA, where you can keep cool!)

Now I’ve just experienced my missive disappearing – it said I wasn’t logged on when I was.

Anyway, will start again: hi Barata – wow another PB, well done, that’s great. I’m feeling a bit left out being the only one not reporting a loss today. Oh dear, I’ll have to get my skates on. Still smiling though, Thursday’s my weigh in and I was down 200gm yesterday despite quite a lot of chocolate throughout the week. Lots of people still commenting on my weight loss so I’m happy. And very happy for all of you today! 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 One for each of you.

Yes, thanks Barata, it was fun despite the defeat. I also haven’t noticed much change in the colour of my pearlies with the ‘oil pulling’ but will continue until the jar’s finished and then re-assess.

Don’t feel jealous about the wx, we’re forecast for a big rain storm this weekend.

    Just lost my post too!!!
Fantastic on your PB & reaching your wiggle-room, Barata. So much good news around today.
Thin, you have done (& are doing) so well…and you look amazing too. To be honest, I threw in an extra “almost FD” on Tues, cos I was determined to see that 63 before leaving on vacation in a week – & that pizza catastrophe on Sunday really annoyed me. Just remember, you’ll be miles ahead of me when I get back!!
Think I spoke too soon about our beach bbq….coming over cloudy, only reached 25, getting breezy with 2 cold fronts coming through tonight & Sunday. So sounds like we will ALL be rugged up for the weather over the weekend. Whatever you are all doing, take care and enjoy yourselves. CM xx

    Only 25, CM? Darn! 🙂

Another positive to report – you will remember that I have mentioned my problems getting back to sleep if I wake up in the night, which has been going on for years, since menopause or before. For the last week I have been taking Sleep Support tart cherry & magnesium, and Stress Zone adrenal support, and have had a wonderful week! Straight back to sleep when I do awaken, and a sleep-in this morning on my day off! 🙂 🙂

Hi all, what wonderful news for everyone. I had so many posts to read it was fantastic. Who needs to read novels when real life is much more interesting. Congratulations to all my cyber friends.

Had a lovely day yesterday, left home about 10am and didn’t get home until after 7pm. Had high tea and it’s funny but I felt guilty leaving so much uneaten. Then went for a couple of drinks down at Circular Quay. It was a lovely balmy night. The only drawback was that the train was full of office workers going home. For just a smidgen of a second I thought I miss this but only a smidgen. Weighed in this morning at 80.3 so not too much of a disaster.

Have a lovely weekend everyone x

Darn. After my good sleeping news above, I woke up about 4 am, and was awake for a couple of hours after that. 🙁

On the plus side (or should that be negative?) another PB this morning, 0.3 kg down from yesterday. Yay 🙂

Good news on the new PB Barata, well done. Sorry about your waking early problem, I empathise as I often have trouble getting to sleep and have occasionally woken early like that.

Pleased you enjoyed your big day out Intesha and that you’re only a tiny bit back over the 80kg, that’s temporary until your next FD. We can absorb these transgressions now and again because our FDs re-set everything.

I welcome my FD today and hope it puts me back on track after a not so good week last week.

    Hi All,
Back again after a month in NZ, away for a few days for a special occasion, and a week with our daughter and grandchildren. Feels like a marathon away from home!

My goal was to return home at the same weight I left, which was 73.2 kg after the last fast day here, and 73.6 when we left.

So: beginning of trip to NZ: 73.2 – 73.6kg
End of trip: 74.5kg. Up 0.9 kg
10 Fast days: 5 done really well, 1 hopefully Ok, 4 not so good as extra eaten in the evening
Tried all the foods in NZ I wanted to including all the usual suspects I wouldn’t eat at home, and thoroughly enjoyed it all! Had milk coffees more often than at home.

Observations of doing 5:2 while travelling:

Travelling days I only ate the meal on the plane, nothing else. They were surprisingly good this trip.

it’s harder to stay in the rhythm of regular fast days – mine are Mon and Thurs – as sometimes the fast day falls on a day where you ‘re somewhere more special and the obvious thing travelwise is to eat the local specialty e.g Bluff, where we ate on a cold windy night in the restaurant opposite the famous anchor sculpture and direction pole to everywhere. Lovely food done by a young man who cooked beautifully, and served by another young man who served beautifully and ended everyother sentence with ‘sweet as’. Just a lovely experience where we got to try the famous Bluff oysters, and a mutton bird entree. Really learnt that it’s much easier for me to not move fast days around though.

Not fussed on paua however well cooked, and really couldn’t bring myself to eat lollycake slice, though I tried everything else.

Having extra on half my fastdays contributed to feeling like I did before I started 5:2 by the time I got home. That ‘stomach feel ‘ thing had often reversed back to feeling hungry. That said, I did eat smaller portions of things than I would have once, and didn’t battle the ‘eat everything on your plate’ thing, and left what I didn’t want.

Really glad I did the best I could at 5:2 on the trip. It didn’t detract from the trip at all. I did feel freer to not feel guilty at eating things with extra cals I would rarely eat at home. Pretty successful experiment.

    Cheers,
    Merry

Postscript – after being back in Oz but mostly away from home, extended special occasion and visiting grandkids etc 1 st morning home yesterday I was 74.3kgs, and the same today. Away a week and a half with only 1 full fast day, and down 0.2 kg. I’m happy with that.

So onwards and downwards from here, and getting back into my Mon Thurs fast day rhythm tomorrow!

    Cheers,
    Merry

Great job Merry, you enjoyed yourself to the full with respect to NZ food and only gained 900gms. Welcome back. And if it’s any consolation, I’ve gained almost that in a week. Not sure what’s happening with me but I’m very pleased it’s a FD today. I may have to take a leaf out of AC and CM’s books and throw in an extra FD next week.

    Hi all
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Hi merry- I don’t think I had joined the conversation before you went on holidays. Well done only a tiny bit of weight gain after holidaying.
Thin I love how you said you welcome your FD. That’s what I am going to say to myself in morning- have eaten too much so tomorrow will be great.

Well done Merry. I don’t think I would have your determination on holiday. What a great result.

So much for me wanting to surprise my daughter with my weight loss at Xmas. She has just informed me she will be arriving on the 23rd July for 5 weeks. Now I’m in panic mode. Hope I can at least lose another 5kg before she arrives with my two darling grandchildren.

    Hi IHAW,

    Been dancing lately? 😉

Hi Thin, Charlie, Barata and all,

Sorry I’ve been AWOL for a while. I’m still maintaining around 60 kg. been a bit busy. It’s great to come back and read all the enthusiastic, supportive posts. Well done to all the losers.

    Cheers, Bay 🙂

Hi, I just posted, then it disappeared, so i’ll make this quick in case it happens again.
Good to hear form you bay, so glad you’re keeping stong and maintaining 60! I haven’t been dancing much lately, but your post has inspired me to get back into my groove, and start to give it a whirl around the living room. I don’t care how much of a silly goose I look like, I enjoy letting my hair down and feeling free.

Good for you merry, travelling and tasting new food is a possible while doing 5:2. I had a similar experience in Hawaii, and came through it ok.

CharlieG, where are you sweetie? Hope things are ok and I’m sending some hugs your way!!

Intesha, please think carefully about why you’re doing the 5:2. Is it to regain great health, or is it to impress your daughter? If you seriously think about it, your friends and family will love and adore you, no matter what weight you are, but they will love having you around for a longer time if your health is good and you are able to live a strong active life as a mother and grandmother.
Just think of all the wonderful things you and the grandkids will be able to get up to, all the family stories to share, and the huge hugs you can give them. You are an important part of their live and growing a warm loving bond between yourself and these young ones is a fantastic privilege and opportunity. Don’t force yourself into pushing yourself too hard, in order to achieve an unrealistic goal. Just keep doing the 5:2 and be comfortable wherever you are in the process, it’s a way of life, not a sprint to a single point in time.

As for me, I’m doing a full fast today, to try and break through my 3 month plateau. I’ll be dancing up a storm too!
    Cheers dears!

IHAW, it was a tongue in cheek remark, I was looking forward to seeing the reaction of looking trim, taut and terrific when I got off that plane. My family, except for my mother, have never said anything about my weight, it’s a pressure we put on ourselves. I am very lucky to have reached this age without any illnesses or the need for any type of medication. Thank you for your concern and comments.

I actually danced around the lounge room yesterday whilst doing the housework, listening to a bit of Mowtown.

Have a good day everyone x

Started the 5.2 at the beginning of April, Easter didn’t help 🙂
Start weight was 93kg last weigh in was 88.5 waist has gone from 102cm – 94 cm can’t remember the last time my waist was under 100cm.
Setting my goals in small bites, current goal weigh is 85kgs.
Have found a good and very cheap gym very close to my home in Christchurch, first session in on Thursday, hoping that this will increase the weight loss, I am going away for 6 weeks leaving end of July so the more weight loss before then the better.
In the few weeks I have been on 5.2 I have been pleasantly surprised at how quickly I had become accustomed to fast days and how it influences my “normal” days.
Have that bag of “just need to lose a few kg’s” clothes that I want to wear on holiday that is very good motivation almost go a pair of dress pants done up.
Then on-going motivation will be the look of jealousy and horror on my sister-in-laws face when we go up north at Christmas, after the extremely, nasty, spiteful comments she made last Christmas, I should really thank her for spurring me into action, but no just yet 😉

Hey Boom, that’s fantastic results for you, in such a short time too! By the time your family do at Christmas comes, you’ll be a whole new person!

    IHAW
Good to hear you’re whirling around, and that you enjoyed your trip to Hawaii. We’re having a glorious sunny day, blue sky and 15 C with no wind, makes it feel warm when the sun is on your back.

    Well done, Boom

Lots of people with varying motivation take up the 5:2 as their new way of life. Whatever makes it work for you 😉

I’ve now been on 5:2 since January 2014. I loved the fact that I lost 17 kg and gained a waistline. I lost 18 cm from my waist, and from other parts of my body. It means my clothing size went from 16 to 11. 😆 😆

    Bay

    Intesha

Another dancer! I don’t really care for housework, so I have chosen to do mine on a fast day. My floors get scrubbed clean and it keeps me out of the kitchen and fit 😉 don’t need a gym.

    Cheers, Bay 😉

Hi Everyone. Late start today. Hope you had a lovely weekend whatever you did.

Hi Merry, welcome back, you were missed. Sounds like you had a wonderful holiday in NZ – food & all – and then catching up with the grandies. Great to see how your “experiment” went and congrats on managing to keep it all under control. I’ll shall take a leaf out of your book, as we leave next Sunday for 3 weeks. I only hope I can be as strong-minded as you were – keeping to my FD as much as possible and being restrained on my non FDs. 900g up would be a welcome sight for me after this trip! Amazing! You’ve given me even more determination that it can be done….thanks heaps.

Thin & AC – Yes, I was looking forward to today’s FD as well. Sounds like we all had similar weekends. It’s funny how I feel a little “out of my comfort zone” on non FDs. Maybe this cold weather is making us hungry for those yummy calorific comfort foods. Extra FD for me this week I think.

Barata, the Weather Gods got even with Perth over the weekend. Freezing cold, gusty winds and howling storms. The sun is just starting to break through. Don’t think I’ll mention anything next time! Well done on your PB too – yay for you!

Intesha, there’s no need to panic, although you must be very excited. You’ve done so well losing more than 7kg in such a short time. Remember you will still be able to surprise them at Christmas by showing them that you have chosen this new WOL for the long term, and also looking trim, taught and terrific! London shopping..…here you come! Glad you had a lovely Friday with your High Tea and drinks with your friends.

Still maintaining at 60kg, Bay? You’re another inspiration to us all. Hoping to join the maintenance crowd myself, sometime this year!!

Boomboombum, welcome to 5:2, you’ve done amazingly well in 6 weeks. Please feel free to have a chat or ask any questions you have along the way. There are some very experienced fasters on this thread with a wealth of knowledge to share. I’ve only been going since mid-Feb and have lost 7kg….which I never thought would be possible, and I feel fabulous too. But just a warning, we don’t always talk 5:2 (but we have a lot of fun!). Enjoy the journey……it will change your life.

Love hearing about all our dancers out there….go for it girls!!! A bit of Saturday Night Fever to keep you warm….. maybe some Little River Band, or rocking to another great Aussie band, Crowded House. Just joking all our Kiwi buddies…I know they’re one of yours! Have a great day everyone. CM xx

Hey, the oldies are back. Yeah!

IHAW, I’d dispense with the plateau and just call that darned good maintenance! Great job, you too Bay, still holding at 60kg. Welcome BBB, you’re already well into your 5:2 journey.

I’m pleased to say I’m back on track after a good fast day yesterday. 64.2kg today. AC, I really do welcome the FDs, a bit weird I know, but having that strict 500 cal limit removes all the subjectivity surrounding eating and just re-sets everything. How’s yours going today?

And hi to you CM, our posts crossed. Not long until your trip…

Thin, you’ll be back in the 63s in no time. Thank God for our FDs!!! Yes, we’re flying out on Sunday.

Hi All, so many great success stories. Very good to hear. I am still up and down between 67 and 65 each week. Go up a couple of kilos over the weekend and end up back around 65.3 or something after Thursday’s fast. I guess i know I need to cut carbs a bit more or not eat so badly on the weekend but I’m stubbornly resisting it at the moment…. Ugh. Also I guess since I am in a healthy weight range my body is not rush to shed the last 5kg of vanity weight. Fair enough… 🙂

Those last few kilos are a real pain to lose, Fastina, with our bodies not wanting to relinquish those last rolls of flab! At least we have all those success stories to keep us motivated and know that it really is possible after all. Still about 3-4 kg to go, for me to reach goal. Then I can buy some new clothes! CM xx

Hey all, I’ve been busily trying to keep up with all these posts and my work and I’m finally on top of them all and informed!

Welcome boomboombum (love the name!) You’ve got off to a fantastic start with 5:2, I hope your feeling good and enjoying the results. You’ll hit 85kg in no time, you’re already over half way there. Welcome home Merry, I hope you enjoyed NZ and all it had to offer. You can forgive it for it’s naughty food when it’s so yumy! Can’t believe you didn’t try lolly cake… it’s delicious! You’ve done a fantastic job maintaining this WOL while traveling, thank you for sharing with us. CM, the inlaws arrive on Thursday and we get the keys to our new house Friday so it’s all go. Where are you off to for 3 weeks? I’m sure you’ve told us, I can’t keep up! How did you BBQ plan work out? Thin, glad you’re back on track and that your FD helped. I’m hoping to join you at 63kg soon. I’m a bit like you, I look forward to my FD’s as I enjoy the results but also I feel like they re-set things after indulging! I think they get easier as you go along too. Intesha how exciting your daughter is coming to visit! That will be such a lovely 5 weeks, I’m sure she will be impressed with your weightloss to date and just the determination it has taken you to undertake this WOL.

FD for me today, I bought a kilo of locally grown, spray- free strawberries at my local markets on Saturday for $10 so I enjoyed 100gms for breakfast alongside a coffee 🙂 Prawn stirfry with slendier noddles for tea tonight! I ate 4 pieces of rolo brownie yesterday after visiting a friend who’d had a baby (yes that is chocolate brownie with rolo baked into it) so I am glad to be fasting today! Hoping I don’t get back up to 65 this week, I was so happy to have hit 64’s last week. I walked to work today and will again tomorrow weather permitting and hope that somewhat counteracts my calorie blowout! It was delicious though. I have no regrets! MK88 xx

Sorry to say, no beach bbq, MK88. I tried, but blustery cold winds came up earlier than expected and OH was hanging out to watch the AFL on Fri night. I know when I’m beaten!! Horrid weekend weather-wise too and even had OH stoke up the fire….brrrrrr. Still cold today and the hairy one (Charlie, not OH!) wants to go for a walk cos he’s been stuck in the house all weekend. So it looks like I’ll be rugging up to brave the cold soon, because I just can’t resist those big brown eyes! What the hell is Lolly Cake anyway?? OMG, Rolo Brownies!! I would have been a goner at Rolo….add the word Brownies and I’m history. Prawn stir-fry sounds yummy – Chicken and vegies for me tonight. OH going out, so I have the remote control all to myself for a change! Looking forward to that. Have a lovely evening guys and may tomorrow’s scales be kind to you!!! CM xx

Hello, I only heard about the 5:2 fast diet last week (I think I must have been living under a rock!). So I found the book at the weekend, read it, and am now experiencing my first fast day today. I decided to not eat at breakfast and save my calories for dinner. I’m looking forward to getting to know you all and hear your success stories and hopeful will be able to share one of my own one day!

Hey EnglishAussie and a warm welcome to 5:2. Good to see you didn’t waste any time getting started! Reading the book is a great way to get going. When you get a sec, you should also watch Michael Mosley’s Horizon program on 5:2 which is really interesting. Are you doing this only for the weight loss or the other potential health benefits too? Let us know how you found your first FD. Lots of success stories on this thread. Some of us are just starting, others having been going since early last year & have achieved their goals. BTW, where are you located in Oz?

So to our two newbies today, EnglishAussie & Boom….we all look forward to hearing about your progress and getting to know you both as well. Stick with it, because this WOL (way of life) actually works…..wish I’d started 2 years ago when I first heard about it. But hey, better late than never! Good luck to you both. CM xx
PS Take your measurements today, if you haven’t already.

Oh yum, I loved those Rolos when I lived in the UK as a child. Been thinking about them ever since I read your post earlier this afternoon MK. Can’t go near anything like that these days. So, another FD over for you now and a day closer to your big move. Good luck with it all.

Hi again Fastina, I also have about 4kgs to go. But if this turns out to be ‘maintenance’ I’ll still be happy. People are calling me skinny now. I was warned that the last few are the hardest to shed. Personally, I believe mine is some kind of psychological block to achieving goal weight as every time I get into the 63s, I seem to react by doing something to sabotage it.

Welcome EnglishAussie, you’re here now. Well done for jumping in right away – I spent months thinking about it. Agree with CM, measure everything; I wish I’d heeded that advice. Let us know how you get on and, if you feel like it, whereabouts you live (cos we’re nosey). I’m thinking you could be with us on the West Coast of Oz otherwise you’d surely be in bed by now, this being your first FD and all…..and which part of the UK do you come from? I’m from Sussex.

CM, did you give that hairy critter a good walk? Sorry, shouldn’t disturb you; you’ve probably got that remote in hand by now.

Thin, now that OH is out for the evening, you’ll be happy to know that I’m…..in his comfy chair; remote in hand (with the program on TV that I want to watch!); with his iPad checking the thread to see who’s around; & one hairy critter warming my feet. Yes, we had a lovely walk, but its cold out there! Also suspecting that EnglishAussie might be from the west…but I’ll probably be wrong…..we need some more 5:2ers from the West to even out the numbers! CM xx

Hi all – so pleased to see a forum for Southern Hemispherites! I am having a second go at 5:2, I had previously tried a couple of years ago but wasn’t really that committed, since then I have had some health issues I needed to have sorted, so now I am ready and able to give this a serious go and commit to it. My main goal is weight loss, but after reading the health benefits that come from this, being healthy and having energy again are right up there too. I’m currently 83kgs and really would like to get to 69.9kgs (anything below 70!) but my eye is on getting to 79.9kgs for now. Small bites……..ah, if only I had that thought 10 years ago then I might not be in this position now! Thanks for the inspiration that I have already taken from this forum 🙂

    Hi Southern Faster Mates,
Finally got back to fasting last Thursday after checking with Doctor because of the drugs that I am on to cut through the pain. Had to change the time of the day that I took some of them as they must be taken with food, arrgh! Friday had me back down almost a kilo, and I held that through to Monday, after fasting yesterday back another 400g, so now only 1.1 kg to get back to where I was before hospital. Drugs really mess up things. Thanks CM for the rain you have sent us, 20mm to 9am, really great as we can do with it.
IHAW, thanks for the hugs, I wish you lived down hear as I am sure a good massage would help to reduce some of the pain down my leg, I have had to stop the pain blocker as it gives me upset tummy, which past experience shows leads to other health consequences. Welcome to all the recent additions to this WOL/WOE, you have just taken control of your health and your body will thank you.
In by the fire with two cats helping to keep me warm,
Have a great week everyone, and keep on loosing like you know you can.
    Cheers, Charlie. 🙂

Very quiet on here today! Where is everyone??

Hi CharlieG, great to hear from you. Glad you’re ok, on the mend & starting back on your FDs. You’ll be back where you were on the scales before you know it. Take good care of yourself and also take it easy. x

Hi Nads and welcome to another newbie (second time around!). As CharlieG says, you’ve taken your first step to health & a better WOL.

If there is one bit of advice for our new 5:2ers, it’s to watch your white carbs – particularly at night. This is a constant thread running through the forums and A LOT of people have issues with them. Many also start losing much faster once they’re ditched or severely restricted. Just something to keep in the back of your minds if you find you aren’t losing as much as expected, even though you are following all the guidelines. Another interesting point that I’m starting to realise is how important it is to keep on the forum. It’s particularly helpful to those just starting out, as well as for everyone else. You might feel unwell initially, frustrated, lacking motivation, have a binge, or just feel ready to quit….it’s all very normal. But PLEASE, do yourselves a favour, and stay with us. I know I’m repeating myself, but this really does works. It gets easier the further in you go and the first couple of weeks will be the hardest……or you might also breeze through it. You will start looking forward to your FDs – truly!! Ask us for help anytime, any questions you have, one of us will chime in to help….we really, really want you to succeed….we’ve ALL been where you guys are now! Weigh-in on Friday’s is optional, but it makes us just a bit more determined to do well. Looking forward to getting to know you all and having a bit of fun along the way too. CM xx

Welcome EA and Nads! Good on you EA for getting stuck in without mucking about, that’s how I did it too. No point wasting time as you barely need to prepare for a fast day! Nads good job giving this WOL another crack, I know you’ll be amazed by how quickly you get under 80 and it will spurr you on to stick with it this time. Good luck to you both and stick around! Everyone here is a fantastic support.

Hey CG, that was a quick recovery from your little weight gain during hospital time, well done. I hope you’re feeling better and your leg stops giving you grief soon. CM that’s a shame about the BBQ on the weekend, sounds like last night was a lovely evening in though with Charlie and the remote! Thursdays are my night with the remote and a glass of wine. OH has hockey training and it’s not a FD so I get to have a glass of shiraz! This Thursday however I’ll have the nlaws here and FIL is as bad as his son at hogging the remote. I’ll be too busy packing anyway! We get the keys Thursday arvo so it all begins then 🙂 Can’t wait! You have GOT to head to NZ and try lolly cake. Google it, it’s delicious! It’s every bit as bad for you as it looks (which is probably why Merry didn’t try it! Strong girl!) Thin, are you wanting to get under 60kg? I hope my reminder of rolos hasn’t triggered a sabotage. You’re so close to your goal! Your determination will get you there.

I need to get back on track on my non- FD’s. After Intesha and I vowed to be better, I did well for 2 weeks but this past week I’ve blown out and eaten crumpets, rolo brownie, chocolate and so much bread and it showed on this mornings weigh in. Not impressed! Ah well, onwards and downwards! MK88 xx
