  • I had to stop editing my post as the dump truck was coming down the road and I needed to sneak some green waste into my neighbours’ bin. They go right off when people do that so I get even more pleasure from doing it! Quacka, do tell more about the spray on stuff. And how cool to see whales. And hopefully no sharks.

Oops third post for this morning. Sorry for the disjointed post, I keep getting interrupted at work. How dare they? Don’t they know I am busy here??? lol

Lindsay I really hope you get to pop those champagne corks soon. Hopefully things will keep improving for your OH (and you)

thin, the colour spray is in a small aqua bottle. I get it at Priceline. I will try and find a link to it after this post (that will be my 4th one for the day!!)
My hair is dead straight and I wear it parted right in the middle and so as the greys start showing through all I have to do is give it a quick spray and it covers them up. It works really well and I like it because it is almost natural. Its hard to explain but the coverage is almost translucent and blends in really well, rather than looking like I have applied mascara to my greys! It lasts until it is washed out.

Ok I’m going to try and find the link and take a photo of my lunch so I can post here and then I will stop hogging the thread!!

Take care and have a great day all x

This is my lunch. A whole mix of veggies, including pickled kale (looks awful, tastes about the same) , fennel, ruby grapefruit and the others which I am sure you can identify.

thin you can get the spray much cheaper than it shows in that link

10am, Tuesday, Adelaide, a mild muggy day.
Don’t have to water the veggie patch today – the rain overnight did a good job of that for me.

Quacka, congrats of picking the fist cucumber. I have plenty of cucumbers on my plant but they are the size of my little finger, or smaller. It will be a couple of weeks I think, before anything is large enough to pick.
The whale encounters sound wonderful. I had to google “bimini” to figure out what it was!

Thin, If you forgot to take your banana to bridge you are going to be ravenous for lunch. Hopefully you’ll get a few people converting to 5:2.
Thin, the salmon pasta recipe actually started as a chilli tuna pasta recipe. I used a tin of Sirena tuna in chilli oil. I used all of the oil in the tin as the dressing for the pasta. It’s delicious, but also much higher calories than the recipe I gave because of the amount of oil- nice for a NFD but wouldn’t fit into a FD. Now that I have a lower cal pasta option I may go back to this version for NFDs.

Lindsay, glad to hear that the evening out at the Stephanie Alexander show was enjoyed by you and your OH. I hope todoay’s appointment goes well and that you are happy with the doctor’s plan for going forward.

Cinque, I’ll be joining you in a FD tomorrow. Unlike you, today will not be sensible, I intend to order whatever most appeals from the cafe menu at lunch time.

Anzac & GDSA, hope you have a successful FD.

Definitely not a FD for me. I’m out to lunch with a friend who lives in the Barossa Valley, and I haven’t seen her since I moved. Thankfully yesterday’s CD went extremely well. My estimate is that calories probably ended up in the 800-900 zone – lower than I usually manage on a CD. It was hot here, which really helped – it usually puts a dampener on my appetite. It makes me feel better about having free choice at lunch today.

Hey Quacka, we are both Sagittarians! I’m the 10th December. Looking forward to a picture of your salad and I’ll see if I can take one of mine (but it depends if anyone is in the kitchen at work as it might look a bit strange :))

So we have three birthdays within 3-4 weeks amongst our small group. Nice!

11.20 and no issues with my FD. You wise owls were 100% correct: It gets easier the longer you stick with this WOE. I’m not even remotely stressed, and yes a bit hungry but so what? It’s just one day and I am picturing the hunger being little angels eating away at my fat. LOL

Lindsay, I will be popping champagne corks too when we get the good news about your hubby.

I forgot to refresh my page and when I did so many new posts popped up! A lovely surprise. I’ll join you in hogging the page today Quacka. Your salad looks amazing and here’s mine. Very boring compared to yours

LJ & Thin – good morning! Or rather Afternoon as it has just gone 12.00pm

Hope you have a lovely lunch in the Barossa LJ. It is one place I am very keen to visit

Thin, I can’t understand why people get upset if you put stuff in their bin. I couldn’t care less if someone does it to me. So long as you put the right stuff in (i.e. recycling in recycling bin etc) what is the problem? People need to chill out more but I am just like you and get a naughty pleasure out of doing it – just because.

I have to say I absolutely HATE the train commute. It is crowded and people are rude and pushy. I regularly get elbowed out of the way by men half my age. Oh and people are also stupid. Example this morning: A very large man asked to sit in the spare seat between myself and the large man on the window side. So I stood up and once he sat down there was not enough room for me. There were at least 8 other seats with empty middle seats with skinny people on either side. What is in his head to push into the one seat with two large people on either side? I had to go and sit somewhere else. And note, this is the 6.10am train so not even peak hour. I always, if possible, negotiate an early-start-early-finish flexible work hours with every new job I take just to avoid peak hour.

Speaking of Maxx antics…I arrived home last night and DH was preparing dinner. He turned to the sink and the conversation went like this:
Me: ‘Is that large hole in the back of your t-shirt Maxx related?’
DH: [Turns to me in surprise] ‘what hole?’
Me: ‘This one’ [tickling his skin through the hole]
DH: ‘Oh. Oh no. I’ve been to Bunnings, the panel-beater and Coles in this shirt. I must look like a homeless person’.

He knew Maxx had nicked his t-shirt from the back of the chair but assumed he got to it quickly enough before his little teeth could do any damage. The lesson learnt today: ‘Never Assume’

Ha ha Maxx does it again!!

Well I just wanted to do a quick post and warn everyone about the dangers of eating pickled kale. It is absolutely disgusting and I have a big jar of it at home in the fridge so I know where that is going tonight. It will most probably turn you off ever eating kale again. Awful!! I am so disappointed.

Intesha, sorry to hear you couldn’t find the legume pasta at Coles. I checked online and neither Coles or Woolies stock it yet. In S.A. it’s an independent supermarket chain where I found it, so that might be worth looking into whichever independent chains you have in NSW. Otherwise you could look online. I found one supplier that is much cheaper than the $5 a packet that I paid: https://www.catch.com.au/product/2-x-slendier-organic-edamame-bean-spaghetti-200g-1946112/

Anzac, another Mad Maxx story that had me giggling. Your husband can keep the shirt for summer – built in ventilation.

Quacka, sorry you to throw out the pickled kale. Sometimes you just don’t know if something will work until you try.

Back from my early winter sun break. Lots of sun, enough English language news to know that California is on fire again but no wifi. Glad to here you are safe Cali.

    10:40pm Tues, Adelaide
Good to hear from you Penguin. I was wondering if you were well. Glad it was just a holiday in the sun that took you away.

Ah LJ, I have had 18 days in the sun. Before that I was reading but not contributing much because I am aware that I am in a minority – one of very few males on a mainly female thread. Add being in the UK and sometimes I have no idea what you are talking about. To be fair, I have the same problems in my Pilates Group. I am the only bloke there. They know that my military service left me hard of hearing so they chat as if it were an all female group. On the few occasions I have worn my bionic ear and actually heard the chat I have come to the conclusion you are as bad as blokes, but possibly crueler.

My totally idle couple of weeks of sun, food and alcohol have given me an extra 6 lbs I need to lose.

Penguin,so good to see you again! We love your company and miss you when you’re gone. So don’t stay away. We like having a man’s point of view, and you’re not the only ‘outlander’. 😁 Recently I have been ona cleaning/getting rid of unused stuff/organizing binge. OH asked me why I’m in a Spring cleaning mode in the Fall. That was when I realized that all the talk here about Spring cleaning has gotten me into the mood. And that’s the reason I’ve been away from here and preoccupied lately. Also, we have friends from about 3 hours drive away, coming today to spend the next 3 days with us soI probably won’t be online much while they’re here.

Lindsay, so glad to hear that OH is seeing some improvement with his sight. Keep it coming! Tell him I’m thinking of him.

Quacka, it would be so cool if your mum joined us here. Hooray for Cinque coming up with the perfect handle, Quackma! I love it. But how about QuackMa so it’s easier to notice the difference?

Intesha, I’m so sorry to hear about your friend and the cancelled cruise. But I’m glad you’re still going to Melbourne and getting together with Cinque. I love seeing photos of your cookies. You are so talented. Please keep posting them. You should open a fancy bakery. We watched all of the 2 seasons of Designated Survivor when it was on network tv. Now it’s been cancelled but hoping another network will pick it up.

Thin, congrats on getting into the 58’s and staying there for several days. I’m 59.7 after yesterday’s FD. My mindfulness on NFD has flown the coop! Luckily my skinny jeans still fit. Please stick with the 58’s. You’ll be happy over the holidays. I’ll try to get there too after our friends leave. I’m making a big sushi tray in a little while for when our friends get here later. It was your inspiration and photo! Also made some Thai hummus and that vegan cheese for them to try. (Back to eating cheese, but I still like the vegan one and want them to try it.)

42 people have died in the Northern California fires and it continues to grow. Only 30% contained and 125,000 acres burned and countless homes as of this morning. They’re saying it’s the worst in California history. Lots of smoke blows in and out depending on the wind direction during the day. We need rain!

LJ, your garden looks amazing and love your recipes. I tried some of those noodles, the plain ones, years ago and didn’t care for them. But there are so many more brands now. I should give them another try.

I’ll try to get back here later. Have a great day everyone!

    Good morning,
    Wednesday fast day for me.

That lovely rain has arrived, thanks LJoyce for sending it over. It is softly wet and cooler which is lovely.

Welcome home Penguin! So good to see your post. You have been missed here. Have you been painting? I’m glad you and Mrs Penguin had a good holiday. You’ll make short shrift of that 6lb.

Cali, good to see your post, and to know you have a spring cleaned home and visitors coming to enjoy it.
The fire news is so bad, it sounds like the death toll will be dreadfully high and such terrible damage.

Lindsay, what a great night with Stephanie Alexander. I do hope it was a positive appt yesterday. Thinking of you.
Thanks for your kind comments about the YamDaisy website.

Gday, you missed out on the Guinness book of records, but I am guessing you would prefer the scales moved down, so congratulations!

Lovely pictures of salads Quacka and Anzac. Yum.
Except for the pickled kale. What a pity. Oh well, your compost will love it.
Say hi to Mad Maxx, he makes Miso the cat seem civilised.

Anzac, finding yourself unstressed on your fast day is such excellent news! It is a very lovely milestone. It means that when you have a difficult fast day you know it is just that one, but the flow of 5:2 is nicely in your life and it can go on forever if you want it to.

Thin, you will have the whole nation whipped into line and doing 5:2 in a moment. I don’t know how you do it, not one person I have told about it has even tried it.

LJoyce, I hope you had a wonderful cafe lunch. If so, I bet you will be like me and embracing today’s fast.

I’m off to put my beancurd sticks to soak (yay I have my old favourite brand again) for my lovely miso soup this evening.

    Best wishes everyone.

Good morning all, it is cloudy but a bit humid in Sydney today. Only going to be about 24 degrees

My FD did not end well I’m sorry to say. Hubby made my dinner (lean mince with lots of veges and chilli) and instead of dividing it up into my small meals and freezing it he decided to join my in having it and so the entire bowl full was put on the table and whatever was left over would be frozen. Well of course, because it was there in front of me and because I was hungry I ate much more than I should. Grrr. Then when I was putting the cold meat I’d bought on the way home for lunch today I had a few slices. I don’t know why. So much for my smug crowing about how easily I was going. Pride comes before a fall. Anyway…it’s behind me and today will be a very mindful NFD

Hello Penguin, I don’t think we have ‘met’. I’m keen to have a male point of view so please keep in touch. Glad you had a nice holiday

Happy spring cleaning Cali, doesn’t it feel great when it is done? Have fun with your visitors.

Hope your FD goes well today Cinque. I’m sure it will

Quacka, sorry to hear that the pickled kate wasn’t very nice. I have to say I’m not a kale fan at all but you tried it and now you know.

    Have a lovely day all

Good morning all. And it truly is a good morning. Our appointment yesterday was very positive. The doctor could see definite signs of improvement, OH could actually read a couple of the lines of the chart. He had to turn his head to the side because the ‘shutter’ is still there, but real progress. And he is starting to get a little vision back, and is moving around now, and nowhere near as tentative as he was. He’s abandoned the cane he used at home (the cat will be grateful …he got the odd prod). I’m still holding the champagne, but all is looking much much rosier. We don’t know where his sight will end up, but he has some, and that is wonderful after this dreadful six weeks of waiting. I want to say, again, how grateful he and I are for your thoughts, wishes and prayers, and for the support you’ve given us.
My lovely son bought my husband an Amazon Echo as an early birthday present. We are still learning how to use it, but so far my OH is using it to listen to Radio National, and to play music. He is such a sweet man – from the other room I heard him say, ‘Alexa, play Ella Fitzgerald’ and when the machine did, he thanked it.
Penguin, welcome home! You’ve been missed. Six pounds is nothing in the scheme of things. I laughed at your description of your Pilates class.
Anzac the great thing about this WOL is that even if a FD doesn’t go to plan, there’s another one in a few days time that will put you back where you want to be. Oh dear. That Maxx really is a terror. Funny, but a terror.
Cali those fires are just heartbreaking. So much loss of life. The community that suffered with the mass shooting followed by the fire must be beyond devastation. But from the report we watched on television, there’s also resilience in these communities, which sure is being tested. Hope the much-needed rain comes soon.
Quacka, thanks for the link for the hair colour. I have a dark bob and get a racoon stripe down my centre part at the 2-3 week mark so it could be a lifesaver.
Thin why on earth would people mind if you put waste in a bin that was about to be collected? Aren’t they mad. Not enough real things to worry about.
I am going to finish now because I know if I go back to the previous page, I will lose the lot!
    Have a great day everyone.

Hi Cinque. Just a few line drawings and water colours – airport security doesn’t like tubes of acrylics. I haven’t been painting much at the local aircraft museum – somehow I morphed from visitor with sketch pad into volunteer guide. I seem to be doing more animals than aircraft lately.

Hello Anzac. I joined this group about 18 months ago. I met some of the regulars on the related science thread when I was looking for advice about kefir, found them a friendly lot and followed them here. I have been at the 5:2 pretty much since it started and have lost a lot of weight. Now I keep reaching my target then having a couple of weeks like the last ones, putting on a few pounds and having to lose them again. Fortunately I don’t mind fasting and take the simple bloke’s approach – I just don’t eat anything at all for a few days. Your OH and I were on the same wavelength today – I also made a huge pan of spicy mince and veg, some of which made it to the freezer.

Quacka, when I was a lad working on my mate’s family farm kale was cattle fodder. I have tried it in a variety of ways recently and if I blanche it in boiling water, then fry it off with pieces of bacon, lots of chilli and garlic I can eat it – as long as I keep telling myself it is good for me. Pickled does not sound like fun.

Lindsay L Your post popped up just as I was about to sign off – that is truly a good morning. I think you are entitled to crack that champagne. I see nothing wrong with him being polite to machinery, one day they will take over the world. I have Siri on this device and have opted for a male voice. One day he/it came up with a dumb response, to which I responded “Oh b…..” , to which this inanimate machine said “What did I do to deserve that?”

FD for me. Goes without saying but I always say it anyway.

Quacka, thanks for the spray on colour info. So it’s Anzac that has the birthday in December. I seem to be getting all the birthdays wrong! I hope they’re all happy. Both your salads looked yummy to me. At first I thought the grapefruit was raw chicken in there!

Naughty Maxx. Oh yes, you have told us about the train travel before. Rude.

According to our council, bins are a free for all once on the verge. Those people live on the street over the back of us but their property goes right through the block so only their garage is on our street. Years ago, if she found something alien in her bin, she would check with me to find out if I’d seen the culprit! Everyone puts their bin out the night before collection – except them. They drag theirs out at 5am waking up the neighbours on the other side. Presumably to minimise the chance of receiving alien rubbish. I just find it funny and like the challenge of the timing and trying not to get ‘caught’.

Lindsay, that is such great news. What a relief. Now you will have a truly lovely birthday.

Welcome back Penguin. Have you been roughing it down in Portugal again?

LJ, our Coles didn’t have the legume pasta either. No surprise there as it’s a very small store. I’ll look elsewhere. Have fun with your friend eating whatever you want!

CalifD, I hope you can stay smoke-free in your home. Terrible news – so much death & destruction. Enjoy your time with friends. I’m afraid my reign of 58s expired this morning. But I will go for a brisk walk and hopefully jiggle the scales back under 59kg. If not, it’s a FD so all is well.

Cinque, I’m having miso yet again – mainly because I don’t like wasting that huge Savoy cabbage. Definitely no egg today! I’ll buy various fresh mushrooms, add ginger, chopped spring onions and julienned carrot.

Weight this morning after FD 67.8. Nice to see that occasionally instead of 68/69.

Went to the gym this morning only to find that my normal Pilates teacher is away this week. She would have told us last week but I obviously didn’t take it in. I am not of fan of the substitute one so just did a gym workout. My normal teacher is just lovely and so caring she always takes an interest in everyone she has sort of taken me under her wing. Last Xmas she came to my home with an enormous food hamper that her church had put together for needy people and she thought of me, I was knocked for six. She takes me for coffee occasionally and when I fractured my elbow came and took me out to lunch. Even my own family don’t do that and as far as my brother is concerned I may as well be an only child. There is know way he is ever going to step up. He visits the nursing home maybe once a month and sees both Mum and Dad so he doesn’t have to come out here.

His contribution when he goes is a magnum ice cream for them and a pull apart bread!!!!! I don’t know why the bread but it just seems to be what he does.

Anyway, LJoyce I did look on that website as I do buy from it regularly but the didn’t have the same one. I will check in more regularly just in case it comes up. Thank you.

CalifD thank you for the compliment on my biscuits, I am very much an amateur, some of the ladies just blow my mind at what they do. I guess as I’ve said before if I could just do it without interruptions then maybe it could become more than a hobby.

My DD’s SIL lives not far from the fires, maybe 20km and she has posted photos of the fires from where she lives. The glow in the night sky is frightening.

I went to the post office yesterday to get some idea of the cost of sending cookies to my DD. For 2kg and 4 day delivery roughly $90, cheaper the longer the delivery. Seems excessive and I know a lady that has been in classes I’ve attended who now lives in the UK and I’ve thought of asking her to do some for me but I reason cookies from Mum/Nanna are better.

Have to take my car down now to get it checked over before my trip.

Just a quick post form me this morning. I’m treating myself to a day of op shopping.

Fasting to day as I enjoyed myself a little too well on yesterday’s NFD and cafe lunch.

The friend I had lunch yesterday with has a lovely rose garden and bought me some of her blooms https://imgur.com/BDgoDrM the floral aroma filling my living room is wonderful.

    Lindsay, wonderful news.
I’ll catch up with everyone else’s news later.
    Have a good day all.

Lindsay your post popped up after I had posted. Great news and such a relief for you.

Anzac as Merry says it’s all about getting back on the horse and not about beating yourself up about it. You will get there. Some have it easier than others and we need to learn not to compare ourselves to others, who seem to do it effortlessly, easier said than done 😉

Fact for the day. A study has just concluded that half of the world’s deaths last year were from preventable factors. Smoking, high BMI, high blood pressure and high blood glucose. Wow that’s unbelievable!

Car is already for my road trip.

Cookies done for the moment. Have more in the freezer for when I come back 😱

    1:30pm Wednesday afternoon FD

    Hi everyone

I was really struggling this morning with my FD and I know exactly why. I had it in my head that I was really really hungry earlier because yesterday I didn’t really eat much, only my salad and then dinner which was quite light also. My disgusting kale really turned me off at lunch and although I ate most of it I was hungry all afternoon and I think that is because I did not enjoy my lunch and so wasn’t satisfied. Make any sense?

So today I brought some konjac noodles, mushrooms and red cabbage and had that with a cup of miso soup. 60 calories all up. I am not hungry anymore. I could eat just because I feel like it but I am not actually hungry.

Weight this morning was 67.6kg down 300g from yesterday morning. I am hoping for a bit more down tomorrow and I am having a normal eating day tomorrow. I am looking forward to it.

Hi Cali, hope you took a photo of your sushi for us. I think I will make some more over the weekend. I might try a mix of rice and cauliflower rice as OH will be eating it too. I think it will work.
Skinny jeans are a much more accurate measure of our weight than those evil scales!
Very sad about the fires. We are about to enter our peak bush fire season, always such a scary thing.

Anzac, don’t worry about the FD wobbly. As others have said, it happens sometimes so just look forward to your next FD and I hope it will be a successful one for you.
Your story of the man on the train reminds me that people often just do not think. They also fail to think how their actions might affect other people. So self- absorbed.

Lindsay, great news. You are giving us some lovely stories about your OH and him thanking Alexa really made me smile. Hoping the good news keeps coming. My greys also show through as a raccoon stripe after a couple of weeks and the spray really works. I hope it does for you too.

Cinque and thin, hope you are both having a nice easy FD. Enjoy your miso soup, ladies.
Lol, thin. Raw chicken? I know I said it was easy to do a FD when I was sick in the tummy last week, but I am definitely not eating raw chicken. You should see what I do to it when I am cooking it. I have to cut it and check if the middle is cooked and if it isn’t I keep cooking it and then make another cut to see if it is done yet. Quite funny when placed on the plate and it looks like its been attacked with a chainsaw 😉

Penguin, I usually like kale but I have never had it pickled. I have had it in a salad a couple of times but it was harvested much earlier than this one. The first time I had it in a salad it was with a wasabi dressing which was really yummy. The next time OH and I concocted a mixed salad which included kale, bacon, tomato and other salad veggies and then finished with a poached egg on top. It was awesome and we had to quickly write down what we put in it so we would be able to make it again.
Frying it up with chilli garlic and bacon sounds yummy too. We do something similar with cabbage but I haven’t thought to put chilli in it before, next time I will.
Good to see you back Penguin. We like having you around.

Intesha, its lovely that your pilates teacher is so caring. When we find someone special like that, it is understandable that we want to keep them. I get why your substitute teacher just doesn’t measure up!
Wow, $90 for postage. That is over the top! Maybe it costs more because of the relatively quick delivery?

LJ, hope you are enjoying your op shopping day and found some great bargains. Did you have something yummy at the cafe yesterday? I hope so. The roses are gorgeous. I also have roses in my front garden. They are old style roses that also have a beautiful smell. OH cut them down almost to the ground and they have come back really beautifully even though they are very neglected. Next time it is time to cut them back I want to pull them out and dig out all the soil out of this narrow garden bed and then replace it with new soil, then replant the roses. There are so many weeds in it I think they are those horrible ones that have the bulbs underground.

Gday, interesting fact. Maybe the world’s governments could give us a bonus for doing 5:2 since it helps several of these issues. I would definitely like a bigger tax refund or the like. Not sure how we could prove we have done our FDs though. Maybe if our weight stays in a healthy range.
Hahahahaha that would be the day!! No, the government will just keep going on about the overburdened health system and trying to fix the problems after they have occurred. Why not encourage people to prevent them by giving them a reward? Money talks and …….. walks. Just saying (js)

Hi Cate and Suz. Hope everything is going well for you both.
    Hope I haven’t missed anyone.

OK my marathon post is over. Have a great day everyone. Stay safe x

Drive safely Intesha. When are you leaving? Can’t wait to hear all about your trip. Thanks for your encouragement

That is an incredible fact Gday. I would have thought accidental deaths and diseases not caused by preventable causes would have been higher.

What did you buy op shopping LJ? Pictures if possible please!

Glad you found the group to be a friendly lot Penguin, I certainly have too. And also encouraging, funny and so very supportive.

I got a chill when you told me about your machine expressing an emotive response! WHAT? I work in Banking IT but on the corporate side so all very dry and not on the exciting gadgets that they develop for the retail customers. Even still, I have not heard of any requirement anywhere to implement responses from inanimate objects that echo a human emotion. But they have obviously done it. Crikey.

Hope you are having a fab FD Thin (I’m sure you are)and good on you Quacka for not caving when your head was not behaving on your FD this morning. I hope I can be as strong as you – and all of you – very soon

Lindsay, fantastic news about your OH. I echo penguin and would start popping that champagne already

I’m having an ok NFD and it’s one hour until home time – yay!

    2:30pm Wednesday, Adelaide

I’m back early from my op shopping trip. After I got to 12 garments I decided that was quite enough and it was time to head home.
I managed to find heaps of things that fit, so I was able to be choosy – so nice when that happens. I bought a stretch lace purple top, that I can dress up or down, depending on the skirt I wear it with. It is extremely fitted from shoulders to hips – unforgiving. So it will need to be worn on the day after a FD when I have fewer lumps and bumps.
I normally struggle to find pants to fit, but actually had several to choose from today – that’s unheard of for me. I bought 3/4 length cargo pants, black tencile jeans and lightweight wide-legged patterned pants that will be good for a hot day. I also bought 2 winter windcheaters and 2 t-shirts. And finally, I bought 4 lose thin summer tops for hot days (the sort of tops that just float around you and barely touch the sides). I’ll be grateful for those when it’s 40C.
    https://imgur.com/a/H84Anuk
I’m especially pleased about the floaty tops and the pants as they are usually the things I have trouble finding and they will really fill some gaps in my summer clothing options.

Intesha, drive safely. I hope you have a lovely time in Melbourne and come back relaxed and refreshed.
Would it be more affordable to send 500g to the UK – that’s still quite a lot of biscuits.

Cali, the fires in southern California are looking worse by the day and the lives lost is just awful. It’s frightening to think that fires like this have become annual events these days.

Thin, I am lucky enough to have a neighbour who is quite happy for me to add things to her bins. Quite handy this week too, as I had lots of packaging from my kitchenaid boxes to dispose of.

Penguin, you are always a welcome contributor. Don’t feel you have to sit on the sidelines. I’m sure you’ll have that 6lbs off in one of your usual 3 day fasts.

Anzac, I’m sure there’s lesson there for future FDs.

    Lindsay & Penguin
Linsay, I loved the story of your husband thanking Alexa for playing his chosen song. And Penguin, I had a good giggle at Siri taking offence at being sworn at!
I have no talking gadgets in my home. I get cranky enough with the microwave and fridge that keep beeping at me if I don’t open or close doors quickly enough. They get told to shut-up often – if they answer me back it’s only with another beep.

Time to do some washing now – all those second hand clothes will need washing before I can put them away.

Then time for another pot of tea. So far today I’ve had a banana and 2 pots of tea. Dinner with be a 2 egg omelette with a mushroom, zucchini and tomato filling.

More posts popped up whole I was typing mine.

Quacka, your reaction makes perfect sense to me. You already felt like you’d had your “deprived” day and were rebelling at having to do another so soon. It’s one of the reason I try not to make a controlled NFD too limited. I think that subconsciously we have a line in the sand when it comes to the level of deprivation we accept without complaint or rebellion.
Yes I did have something yummy yesterday. Lunch was a chicken burger on a brioche bun accompanied by an iced coffee (with icecream). Then we came back to my place and had a cup of tea and a banana-pecan muffin. Needless to say I am not feeling the least bit deprived today and am happy to be on a FD!

Anzac, pictures included in my previous post.

    Me again.

Thanks LJ for the pictures. That looks like a very successful shopping trip. Also thanks for understanding and I think I agree with you about the rebellion. I am trying to be extra ‘good’ this week as next week we are camping for four days and I am trying to prepare for that now. Again I think it is psychological as I can still do two FDs (B2B monday, tuesday) so I am not sure what I am worrying about.

Anzac thankyou for saying I am strong. There are days when I feel like I am and there are definitely days when I don’t. Coming here and reading and posting really helps me to get back in the right place in my head.

I have said it before but I will say it again.

Thank you for being here everyone. You are all awesome x

FD today, weight this morning 68.6.

LJ I’m an all or nothing person. The cookies are not small and by the time each one is wrapped in bubble plastic and securely placed you wouldn’t get many for 500g and because they are for family I want to impress with my skills 😉😉😉

Anzac I am leaving on Saturday morning and because no one is expecting me I will take a steadier drive than usual as I can check into the hotel anytime up till 11pm. If I aim to leave about 7 I should get there between 7 and 8 with several stops in between. I am lucky that I live near Campbelltown so can be on the freeway within 10 minutes.

I spoke to friends in Canberra last night and have arranged to stay with them for a few days on the way back so that will give me a week away and some much needed R & R. I am packing bath salts, bath bombs etc so that I can give myself some much needed TLC. I am so looking forward to this.

Off to the gym this morning and then back to start my packing.

    Have a good day everyone.

    6.06am Sydney

Your trip sounds amazing Intesha and I’m so glad you are planning some lovely baths and very much needed TLC. We live in the Sutherland Shire so are also very handy for travelling south. My sister and BIL have a small holiday house in Culburra on the South Coast and generously let us go there when they or their family aren’t there. It is 300m from a dog-friendly beach so Maxx loves it too. We can be there in 2 hours if the traffic isn’t too bad.

Your clothes are lovely LJ. I can’t tell you how much I am looking forward to clothes shopping when I lose the weight. Right now clothes shopping is something to be absolutely dreaded. I’m wearing work clothes that should have been thrown away long ago but I’m making them stretch for now.

I am also trying to be extra good this week and next Quacka as we have two weekends in a row that will be extremely social. My aim is to maintain across those two weeks and if I lose a bit then that will be a bonus. I still want to be on track to be 85 by Christmas. I’m 88.3 this morning which is only 100g down from Monday and I normally bounce around a lot more than that so it is unusual. I think my scales are channeling yours Gday! Although, that said, I did have to put an extra pin in my work trousers yesterday so I think I am losing fat. Unfortunately I tend to lose it from my waist first which is probably the area I least need to. Drats!

Not sure what to call today. Perhaps ‘The Fast Day you have when you can’t really have a proper, planned Fast Day?’. I’ll fast until just before lunch when I’ll eat the bag of carrot sticks I bought with me to take the edge off and hopefully make sure I don’t over-order at lunch with my boss. Then stir-fried veges with a bit of chicken breast for dinner. It all comes down to where we go for lunch and what I have. Hopefully something along the salad lines.

Must go and start work. Have a lovely day all

    Hi everyone,
I live in QLD and started this 10 weeks ago. very slow going for me, but it’s going. I really started this as I was diagnosed pre-diabetic, so I’m not having that and so looked into it. I had a friend start this in 2013 and was encouraging me to do the same (wish now I had!) I did one day and decided this was stupid. Well I hadn’t read the book and all the info that goes with it. knowledge is power!
I have no dead line, just determination to heal this old body (I’m a young 53!!).
It sounds like a lot of you have a light lunch. I am going the 12 hour fast way. breaky and then dinner 12 hrs later.
my biggest issue is exercise. I am not good at that. any tips?
    have a great fast day.
    JudeD

Hellooo JudeD,welcome! I’m in Sydney and very new too. I started 5:2 7 weeks ago and have lost only 3.5 kilos but I’m happy with that as I have had a few hiccups along the way. So glad you have joined the forum as the people in this group are incredibly supportive, friendly and encouraging and many have lost significant amounts of weight and are now on maintenance and have so much wise advice

I’m turning 53 in three weeks time and feel about 33 so I know exactly how you feel – ‘young’ for sure! I don’t have a deadline either, exactly, but I would like to lose about 20 kilos by the end of next year for a big trip that we are planning to Europe

Sorry to hear about your pre-diabetes diagnosis but hopefully sticking to 5:2 will have that remedied in no time.

I am pretty much allergic to exercise (my hubby says I was born without the exercise gene) but I try to do a minimum 30 minute walk at lunch time on my work days in the city (four days) and then at least an hour on my work-from-home day and weekends. It helps that we have a young Labrador puppy who needs to be walked a lot so I find I’m doing more than an hour on most days at home. I also try to do 20 minute bursts of HIT (high impact training) on the exercise bike whenever possible but I admit I am way too good at finding excuses not to do that. I really find that anything helps really – not just for weigh loss but mentally too.

For my fast days I tried brekky and then dinner but it didn’t work for me as I tend to get hungrier after I eat breakfast. My sister fasts all day then has her whole 500 calories at dinner but that doesn’t work for me either. So I fast from dinner the night before until I have a light lunch on the FD, then a piece of fruit in the afternoon then a small dinner

Good luck and please keep posting lots if you can! I look forward to sharing this journey with you

    Good morning,
Lovely day after fast day for me, and a few others too I hope.

Welcome Jude, how lovely to have you here! Congratulations on your 10 weeks 5:2ing and for taking steps to make sure that pre-diabetes doesn’t develop into full blown diabetes.

I am not much use on exercise as I have a chronic illness that keeps me very sedentary. I can say that 5:2 works even without exercise. Hooray!

But I am sure you will find something that suits you, whether you join a competitive team, or take up line dancing, fit more walking and climbing stairs into your life, or do ten minutes HIIT.
Bushwalking and yoga have been my favourite, I do wish I could do lots of both of them.
Good luck finding out what suits you.

Lindsay, Hooray! May the healing continue and the eyesight keep improving. 6 weeks was a long wait, but slow and steady is okay!

I appreciate people who are polite to non-humans, including ‘things’. Mr L’s respectfulness reminded me how my mum would pick up dolls, when we were little, and dress them and sit them up so they weren’t lying undignified on the floor.

Anzac, sorry your Fast Day ended badly, but your philosophy was good and it sounds like today is going to be similar to LJoyce’s Controlled Days.

It is fascinating how 5:2 becomes a journey of understanding how to eat well for our health: given our history, personality, situation and family members. And the things that help us is noticing the times we eat too much (or the times we don’t), and try to figure out why, and then how to make things work better.

I have just been thinking about what an important part bread plays in my life. I made bread for the first time for several weeks and I had missed it so much and, oh dear, spent a couple of days overeating it! When I have it all the time I don’t do that. Can I blame my tummy biota? I bet I have a whole populations of microbes that need my bread!

Penguin, I imagine that painting animals is much more difficult than painting aircraft. Just as much detail, and they keep moving!
Good grief, what an amazing Siri story.

I am glad you are here, for yourself, and to make it easier for any other man who wants to join. I wish there were equal parts men and women and young and old and people from different countries (Southern Hemisphere and North) so anyone joining could feel comfortable that there was someone here a bit like them.

Ooh this is getting too long, I’m going to post it and do another one!

Oops, look at the time. A kiss and a promise.

    Good morning everyone

Welcome Jude 🙂 You have made a great decision starting 5:2 and also joining us here! Like Anzac said, this is such a supportive and knowledgeable group so ask anything you need to know. As the ladies also already said, exercise is great for the mind and body but it is not essential to 5:2 working. When I exercise it is usually just walking, sometimes I do a bit of HIIT. Not often.

Day after FD for me. Had breakfast and of course that set me off to be hungry all morning. I have had a coffee and now I am having water just in case it is thirst rather than true hunger. I have watermelon for a snack if I need it.

Weight this morning only down 300g more but still down is down. That’s all that matters. When I hit a new low I record my weight in the Calorie King app and I was looking at my graph yesterday. It was down all the way until November/December last year when it spiked up (that’s when I had a break. Not happening this year!) Then from January it is down down down. I can also see the small plateaus but over all, down. Happy Quacka 🙂 15kgs gone so far.

I hope you all have a lovely day and look forward to reading some more posts today.

Hi to Minka and Merry too. I knew I had forgotten someone yesterday!!

    All the best x

Good morning all and welcome Jude.

FD for me today, will eat nothing until our evening meal tonight. Damn those scales are back working again – 1.5kg up from yesterday. But in my defence we ate out at our local pub last night where healthy choices are non existent.

    Happy Thursday everyone.

Ah Gday, you have the same metabolism as I do perhaps. When you are doing everything right you see the scales drip down sloooowly. One bad meal and they jump up like a rocket. Why?????

Good luck on your FD today.

Yay Quacka…another 300g and a total of 15…Wow, that is fantastic! I can’t wait to get there too

I love what you said Cinque about 5:2 being a journey of understanding our relationship to food and health. It is so true and after only a short time I am already learning that. So much more to learn and I’m so looking forward to that

Anyway nearly lunch time, still not sure where we are going. Will report back later this afternoon if possible

    11:30am, Thurs, Adelaide
Just back from a nice long walk.
Day after FD for me and I woke hungry. I ate breakfast and then wanted to keep eating, so getting out of the house and away from from food for a while was necessary.

Jude, welcome. Glad you have settled into the 5:2 pattern and are seeing results even if it is happening slowly. I have to force myself to exercise. The only things I truly enjoy are gardening and walking. Where possible I try to add movement to my days as that makes as much difference as a few exercise sessions each week. I do think it’s important that whatever you do is something you like. I can’t stick to things that I don’t like.

GDSA, there is no point expecting scales to be fair and reasonable, they don’t know how!

Quacka, I think looking back over your progress is really helpful thing to do. The 300g losses may seem too small, but as you have noticed – they add up.

Cinque, I find the same thing – if I haven’t had bread for a while I eat too much when the next loaf appears on the kitchen bench. I haven’t made my own bread since I moved. I do want to try that in my new mixer.

Anzac, You are allowed to get some new clothing while you are losing weight, you don’t have to wait until the end. I found that finding new clothes while losing weight was important too. Each time I got to a size smaller I went to the local op shops and found enough garments to see me through until I’d dropped another size. Each time I was donating the oversized things and filling the gaps in my wardrobe. It was necessary, but also felt like a reward and good feedback that I really was getting smaller – without spending too much money along the way. Oddly enough when I got to the weight I wanted to be I had set aside funds to treat myself to some serious clothes shopping – I struggled to find what I wanted in the shops. I ended up going back to the op shops and had more success. I have no idea why.

Intesha, your road trip sound great. I’m so glad you are also able to break the journey in Canberra and catch up with friends. This might do you more good that the original plans which seemed to cater more to someone else’s needs than your own.

I’m going to pick some zucchini and make rosti for lunch (or “mock fish” as my mum called them). I have no idea what dinner will be. I am babysitting tonight and dinner needs to cater to the veggie averse palettes of a 5 & 6 year old. Pasta features often. Hence my all-veggie lunch.

    Have a nice day everyone.

Cali & Intesha, I have just tried out the food processor attachment for the Kitchenaid, so time for some feedback. It did as good a job (if not better) of grating veg as my old food processor. I have attached pictures of the food processor in use, the finished bowl of grated veg and then pictures of me cooking the result.
    https://imgur.com/a/CfaovZD
The only negative is that in my old food processor I would have put the onion and parsley in with the mincer blade and then moved on to grating the other veg. This processor doesn’t mince and I didn’t want to dirty any other gadgets so I just chopped the onion and parsley.

    Good morning, sorry I’m late!

Jude, welcome. Your profile says that you are looking for recipes so here’s a link to our very own recipe page. It’s just for recipes, we have asked for no chit chat to enable people to copy/paste and find the recipes easily. Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of chit chat to wade through but I hope you find it useful: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/southern-hemispherites-fd-recipes/

I read everything, I thought I was up to date and then about 8 more posts appeared which I have just read in backwards order. And promptly forgotten everything.

LJ, that was a bit of a teaser, “picture of me cooking the result”. You made me excited to see what you look like. Lovely mixer and food though.

Anzac, Quacka, you are both strong and doing well. Remember, many people can’t do this – you can! And you are both great assets to our thread. Buy some new clothes but not too many. I got so excited to reach size 14 and bought too many summer clothes that year. They were too baggy by winter. What I love about being size 10 is that all my clothes are new (for me, ‘new’ means the last 5 years, not the last 5 minutes!) because I have not been size 10 since before I was married. So, I now have very few clothes but I wear them all.

Intesha, have a safe trip. Will you meet Cinque?

Lindsay, Jude, Sybs, do you not have any shops in Queensland? Almost everything I’m selling on gumtree that has to be mailed seems to be going to Qld. Ranging from aircraft parts, 1930s American art deco glassware, movie paraphernalia, the Mexican train game to a brand new Gore-tex jacket. First they ask me if I’ll mail it, of course I will, then they send the Qld address. I must have sent 15 packages in the past 2 weeks!

We’re expecting 35C tomorrow. Yuk. I’ve erected the shade cloths amongst the trees over the lizards’ enclosure. They like warmth but they don’t want to be barbecued.

An easy peasy FD for me yesterday and my miso soup with veggies and fresh enoki mushrooms was much improved. Scales are on strike though. 59.2kg on the FD, 59.2kg after the FD, 59.2kg after the brisk walk. I’m going to feed them some new batteries and see if they get motivated. OK, back to downsizing.

Lunch was ok, I ordered a chicken and salad wrap. Disaster though, I was a bit nervous and forgot to ask for the mayo dressing on the side. Apart from the horrific calories I have some food intolerances and second on the list (under dairy) is creamy salad dressings. I can tolerate tiny bits but of course the wrap came drenched in it. OOPS. So now I have an upset tummy, not anything terrible, and maybe I will burn off some calories running to the loo and back many times! (Sorry if that is too graphic)

    Good evening,
    Nearly dinnertime in Melbourne.

Firstly: great news for the gorilla lovers: https://gorillafund.org/mountain-gorillas-tragedy-fragile-success/

If all goes well, Intesha and I will meet up on Tuesday! It will be great fun.
Intesha, your pilates teacher is a treasure.
$90 is a scary amount for sending biscuits to the UK!
But then, biscuits from Mum/Nan are the best!
And great news that you have fitted in those extra holidays with friends.

LJoyce, your roses are gorgeous. I wish we had smellevision.
And what an Op Shop bonanza! I especially like the purple top!

Gday, best wishes for today’s FD. And isn’t that research scary.
    Here is the chart: https://www.abc.net.au/news/health/2018-11-14/preventable-causes-of-death-worldwide/10487316

Quacka, I also find I need to keep myself feeling cherished with lovely food and no bad surprises, or I feel deprived and need to eat treats to make up for it. Shish!
And I have a bad habit of eating more in the evening before a fast day. I keep trying to talk myself out of it. Hopefully the fact that I have written it will help me next fast eve.

But look at you, what a great 5:2 timeline. There is nothing like perspective is there!

Anzac, So sorry your Clayton’s fast day was waylaid by that nasty mayo dressing. I do hope your tummy is feeling better. If you can possibly afford it, I reckon you would do well just binning your sad mistake and ordering another one. You are worth it.

I was lucky I had a whole trunk of things in every size on the way down to my healthy weight! And being a mad op shopper added to my wardrobe at every stage.
But I can imagine that wearing things to rags and then buying something wonderful is a very exciting way to approach this.

Ooh Thin, Perth is hotting up! I’m glad you have the lizards covered.
It is a lovely week here, by temperature. My garden will be so happy. And I had my first boy zucchini flower today. With two girl flowers out I should get my first zucchinis.

And what a lovely miso soup you had.

Everyone’s crazy scales are making me feel very smug that I don’t have any!
They’d better start behaving themselves before my head swells.

Off to make a lovely dinner. Best wishes everyone.

    Friday 6:15am

    Good morning everyone

It’s day after a successful NFD for me and I’m feeling pretty good. Scales are down 400g this morning to 67.2kg so maybe next week I will break into the 66s, I hope.
After my morning post yesterday saying how hungry I was, 59 cartons of stock arrived which kept me very busy for rest of the day. I didn’t have time to think about how hungry I was and was moving a lot all day which was good.

When I got home OH had dinnner organised. I had some left over cooked cauliflower, broccoli and carrot in the fridge that I was going to make into veggie patties. He made them into a sauce to have with our steak and veggies for dinner. He cooked up some onion and garlic, blended up the veggies and added them to the pan with some passata and herbs. He also added our home made chilli sauce which made it quite hot but it was really yummy. A nice healthy sauce and really tasty too.
He cooked up our first zucchini of the season as one of the veggies. Mmmmmm

It’s quite cool here today and meant to be for the whole weekend as well. I am making a beef stew for tonight and am planning some healthy meals for the weekend.

Anzac, I hope you are ok today. I’m not a fan of creamy salad dressings either as usually whatever you are eating is saturated with it. If I’m making one at home I always add Greek yoghurt instead of all mayonnaise and just have a small amount of mayo for the flavour. It’s usually only for OHs favourite potato salad. My favourite dressing is green goddess dressing, well my version of it anyway. I make it with avocado, yoghurt, lemon juice, salt and pepper and fresh herbs – usually basil and parsley. It’s so good and can even be eaten as a healthy dip. It’s not very low calorie though because of the avocado, but avocado is so full of good nutrients that I still eat it. Plus I love avocado.

I think I might go and make another cup of tea. I hope you all have a lovely day and for those on a FD, an easy peasy one just like thin’s! Byeeeeeeee x

Good morning. Day after FD 67.8. Probably won’t see that for another few weeks but that’s okay.

Off to Melbourne in the morning. Cinque are you the only one on the forum down there?

I will attempt mindful eating but this is my time and I am going to enjoy it. I am taking healthy food with me to eat along the way so I don’t get tempted and staying in a hotel will buy salads for dinner if I am not out.

I am already getting excited about having a week to myself. I have stocked the fridge and freezer for Dad, will put out pots and pans within easy reach for him and bring in the small microwave from the garage which I put on the kitchen bench for easy access. I’ve told my neighbour I will be away and he will keep an eye out. Not much more I can do.

37C forecast here so I am off early for my walk while it’s still cool. It’s our first hot day of the season and I’m not looking forward to it much. We do have air-con thankfully.

Aren’t the mountain gorillas beautiful, Cinque? I hope you get plenty of delicious, nourishing food today.

Anzac, I hope you feel OK today.

    Quacka, great job!

I don’t use mayonnaise and try to remember to order dressings on the side when out. I don’t use salad dressing myself at home but sometimes make a light balsamic for OH. Which is a complete turnaround because, when we first arrived in Australia, we lamented that salad veg had no taste and there were no salad dressings available in the shops. We’d come from California where salad veg tasted delicious but could be smothered in any of about 60 varieties of dressing. Things have changed a lot, some for the better, others less so.

Still haven’t made it to, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ but DD went to the opening of, ‘Fantastic Beasts’ and thought it was really good. Being an expert authority on all things Harry Potter, she did notice a plot flaw though.

    Have a fabulous weekend all.

Friday 8.30am in the sunny Flinders Ranges. Yesterday’s FD was a success, today I’m down half a kg. Will take an early lunchbreak before it gets too warm today and take a 30 min power walk.

Yesterday I purchased a push/pull up bar stand (second hand for $20) to add to my gym equipment. It has an attachment to hang the brand new boxing bag which I also purchased second hand a few weeks ago for $25 so that’s a bonus. The man lining the new shed said he would probably start in the next week or so so I’m very excited as once that’s done I can set up the gym area.

Hope everyone is having a pleasant day so far. Yay happy Friday!

    Good morning!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LINDSAY!!!! Hope you have a great day and a fabulous weekend :):)

WFH day today, I just love it. No trains, no crowds, no annoying office noise. I tend to work really hard the four days I have in the city then Friday’s (or whichever day I take for WFH) are a bit more relaxed work-wise. That really suits me

Had a big walk with Maxx and hubby this morning and it was good because we are having a cool snap and so it wasn’t hot at all. In fact sitting at the bus stop yesterday after getting off the train I was absolutely freezing. I had to text hubby and ask him to meet me at the other end with a jacket. Sorry to hear it is so hot in Perth Thin, 37 degrees is awful.

Have a safe trip tomorrow Intesha. I can’t wait to hear all about your trip. Everything is nicely organised for your Dad so don’t worry about anything except having a great time

G’Day and Quacka – both showing great losses today. yay! I’m 88.1 which is 300g down from Monday. I did want to be in the 87’s by today but I’ll take any loss as a big positive.

Cinque, I did think about ordering another wrap but I felt really self conscious. Silly now that I look back. Tummy is all better now thanks; these intolerance upsets only last a couple of hours.

And the best news…I ran into someone on the way home yesterday who I haven’t seen for over a year. So I’m guessing I’ve lost 8-9 kilos since then. The first thing she said was ‘you’re shrinking!’ and I looked down at my shoes thinking maybe I had higher heels last time I saw her. But she laughed and said ‘no, I mean you have lost weight’. She is the first person to notice. I guess it has been so very gradual that no-one else (including myself!) have noticed. Happy dance 🙂

Thin, I always use salad dressing as I find salad veg a bit boring. But mine, like yours for your OH, are almost always balsamic based. I do make a Thai one for my FD beef salads with sweet chilli sauce, soy and lime juice. I keep a container in the fridge at work and just spoon a couple of teaspoons over it and mix it in well. It makes it much more palatable for me.

Quacka your avocado dressing sounds really nice and I am going to try it

Cinque also – how unreal that the Gorilla’s have been reclassified from “critically endangered” — the highest level of threat — to “endangered,” moving them a level further from extinction. Thanks for posting that, you made my day

Intesha and Cinque have a great catch up!

Gday, good luck setting up your gym. My OH has all the equipment but I don’t use it as it is more for weight lifting and I am not at that stage by a long way. I am not very strong and have just started using light hand weights to try and build up some strength and to do something about my terrible bat wing arms 🙂

Anyway I have warbled long enough. Have a great Friday everyone

    Happy Birthday Lindsay!

    Quacka, good scales!

Intesha, thinking of you heading down the highway!

Thin, hope you are keeping cool, you too Gday.

Anzac, so lovely to get the shrinkage noticed!

Yes, I was SO glad to hear about the gorillas.

It is beautiful today. I have had a lovely time the last 24 hours with my dear sisters. I am going to have a quiet day, but first I am heading off to do some shopping since the only vegetable in the place is some frozen peas in my freezer.
Not quite true, I picked lettuce leaves from my garden, but I do need more!
Inspired by lovely talk of avocado dressing so I hope there are good avocados in the shop.

    Best wishes all.

Hello all and thank you for the lovely welcome, I have just spent the better 1/2 of the day catching up!!! you all are so supportive of each other. Love it.
    Happy B’day Lindsay!
Thanks for the tips and the recipe site!
I had a very busy FD yest. Worked a Late shift which turned into a finish at 3 am this morning. I like working a late on FD as I am usually so busy during my usual “bad time of day” (3-5 pm) that I breeze though it. yest was no different and before I knew it, it was 7.30 and I got to have a quick sit down and eat. staying till 3 am was not so good though. usually graze all night, but as I didn’t expect it I had nothing to graze on…… so out came the hospital made cake from the fridge and dang it ….. a piece fell in my gob! grrrrr. Shift work is really the pits!
I only weigh in once a week on the morning of my Thur FD, I think it is more accurate and then I’m not obsessing (which I can do very easily) over the weight, I am looking more at my measurements for guidance and that is telling me I need be more active and get some toning in. I did manage over 11000 steps at work last night! but the walking just doesn’t seem enough.
anyway I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. Talk next week.
    🙂

    Happy Birthday to you!
