  • Hi everyone, just started the diet this week and I thought I’d say hello. I decided to use tue/wed as my 2 fasting days and it’s been easy so far. I was a little over on day 1 at 650 cals – supposed to be 600, day 2 about spot on. I wasnt sure what you did the other 5 days so searching the internet brought me here.

Week 1 19st 8lb see how I get on. Next step buy the book I guess 🙂

    Hi Gordy

If you click on how it works at the top of the page you can work out your TDEE which is the maximum number of calories you can eat on non fasting days. It’ll help to give you an idea of how much you can have on the other 5 days.
Buying the book is an excellent idea as it is packed with information and an explanation of how and why this way of eating (WOE) works, the science behind it and the health benefits. This website is a huge community of people who have all opted for 5:2 in an effort to get fitter, healthier and slimmer and there is a wealth of information, support and camaraderie here.

    Good luck

    Hi Gordy and welcome:

Here is much of the information you will need to be successful on 5:2: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

    Good Luck!

Thanks for the info, think ive read all the FAQ and watched most of the videos people link to etc..

Quick update, finding it easy to do the 2 consecutive days sticking to 600 cals of chicken, tuna and veg. Eating pretty much what I want the rest of the week and not counting the calories. My TDEE worked out at 2500, still having a weekend takeaway as well.

    So far I’ve lost 13 pounds !!!

Well done on your weight loss that is a great achievement! After a epic fail of a fast day yesterday, reading this forum has really motivated me to try again and stick to it this time! Congrats again 🙂

Well done Gordy, keep up the good work!
