  • Morning all, it’s my first week on 5:2 and so far so good. Started last Saturday, did my first fast day Monday, bit tough at times but just kept busy, sipped lots of water throughout the day, ate breakfast, lunch and evening meal and survived the 500 calorie goal for the day! Tomorrow (Thursday) is my second fast day for this week, I’m looking forward to what the scales tell me on Friday! I’ve failed at every other diet, so I’m hoping the 5:2 will give me good, sustainable results 🙂

Hi and welcome Tinkabelle 🙂 My fast days are Mon/Thursday too. Water is my saviour on those days, and keeping busy like you say.

Good luck on reaching your goals, you will find so much support here its amazing 🙂

    Have a great day x

Hi Dragon Fly, thank you for your reply and support! I completed my second ‘fast’ day yesterday (Thursday) and found it easier than Monday 🙂 I’ve just weighed myself and I’m thrilled to report I’ve lost 3lb since last Saturday, very successful for me AND the main psychological thing for me personally is that I have not felt that I’ve started the ‘dreaded diet yet again’ and feel very positive!

Good luck with reaching your goals too Dragon Fly, best wishes x

    Hi Tinkabelle,
I’ve just started, today is my second fast day, I’m going for Monday and Thursday too. Well done on 3lb lost already, very inspiring!

    Hi CycleSal,
Thank you for your message, how are you getting on? My third fast day today and found it much easier than last week, never really gave today much thought really considering it was a fast day! Went for a 2.5 mile walk, was amazed just what you miss really seeing when you’re in the car all the time! Lovely to see the sheep with their baby lambs, true sign spring is here 🙂
Hope you’ve had a good ‘fast day’ and here’s to our next one 🙂

    Hi Tinkabelle,
Your walk sounds lovely, what a gorgeous few days we’ve had for getting out and about. I love walking and Cycling – both good ways to ‘ see more’ of the countryside. I found yesterday’s fast day fine. How do you get on? Will weigh myself on Friday morning and see if I’ve lost any weight. But more bothered about how my clothes look and feel, and getting in control of rampant sugar addiction tbh! Keep up the good work

Hi there. Today is my first fast day and I have just registered on this site. I was hoping to find someone also new to fasting and I’m really encouraged by your enthusiasm and early success. I hope it is still working well for you. Very best wishes

    Hi CycleSal,
Each fasting day seems to be getting easier, I’m quite surprised how I’m adapting. I’ve now dropped my sugar in black coffee altogether and I can’t use sweeteners anyway as they give me very bad headaches. Chocolate is my demon to really tackle so that’s next on the list! I’ve had a really good day today and I’m already feeling a bit healthier. How are you getting on? My next weigh day is this Friday and I’m also looking forward to the inches shrinking away 🙂

    Hi pyeontheyre,
How has your first fast day been?
It’s nice to have support on here and you pick up ideas from others too! Hope you had a good day 🙂

Hi Tinkabelle, thanks for your message. It’s nearly time for bed and I have done it! Only 500 calories consumed. It’s been an interesting day and a challenging one. My FD challenges are that I prepare 2 meals in the evening; one at approx 5.30pm for my young daughters (a good, delicious, wholesome meal with pud) and then another meal for my husband who comes in tired and hungry at anytime between 9pm – 11pm. He is a super-slim runner so he needs his calories too. It’s torture! I was absolutely fine all day but I have thought of nothing other than food since preparing the kids’ meal. I told my husband that I couldn’t sit with him whilst he ate which is a bit sad; we both enjoy catching up at the end of the day over food (and wine). I need to come up with some strategies to help me with this issue on FDs – if I don’t, I know I will fail…
Hope you are avoiding the choc and you are still enjoying some sunshine

Hi pyeontheyre, many congratulations on completing your first fast day, be proud of yourself too, that was the most difficult one I found. On fast days I eat 3 meals: yesterday I had breakfast 94 calories (3 tablespoons of fat free Greek yogurt with 1 tablespoon sultanas and 4 almonds with the skin on, chopped up) plenty of water through the day, lunch was a large salad bowl with 2 slices ham shredded on the top and just a drizzle of salad cream (80 calories total for lunch), evening meal 180g skinless and boneless chicken breast portion, 100g each of broccoli and carrots with 40g small peas (325 calories). I found a bag of prepared salad leaves in Aldi 90g pack, 24 calories total 🙂

Hope you enjoy your upcoming non fasting days and good luck with your next fast day 🙂

Morning everyone 😀 just been reading your posts, and it sounds like you’re all doing great. I’m fasting today, I really enjoy my fast days, especially when I accomplish one successfully 🙂 Stay strong whatever you’re all doing today.

    WE CAN DO THIS!

    Hi Dragon Fly,
Yesterday I completed the first fast day of my 3rd week and I’m enjoying the 5:2 journey so far with good results, 7.5lb in weight loss and 6.5″ off my body already! I know I’ve got lots to lose and I dare say it will slow down, however I’m amazed so far! How are you getting on? Here’s to Thursday’s fast day 🙂

Hi I have nearly done my first fast day I find 5pm the hardest time when I am feeding the kids but I am determined to stick with this!!
