  • I’ve been thinking about IF for a while now. I’ve previously had success on WW, but over the last few years a few pounds have crept on here and there – and stayed – and for some reason, even though I know it works, I can’t seem to stick to WW for more than a few days at the moment, so psychologically I need a change.

Anyway, on Tuesday last week I plunged into work so early that it was after 11 before I realised I hadn’t had breakfast, and wasn’t particularly hungry, so decided to have a go at fasting.

Of course, as soon as I did that, the hunger pangs roared in. But, like everyone seems to report, they were manageable, and came in waves rather than a constant problem. I chose not to eat anything at all during the day as I thought the hunger would be worse if I only ate a little, and thoroughly enjoyed every single mouthful of my albeit limited calorie evening meal.

I was also extremely surprised to sleep very well, and not wake up starving, just normally hungry. For the next few days I ate very healthily as I was keen not to ruin my hard work.

So, I’ve decided my Fast Days will be Monday and Thursday as my husband is out on both those days and I won’t need to suffer through watching him eat breakfast and lunch and many snacks in between.

We’re now at 3.30 and I’ve only felt a little hungry previously. I have a 400 calorie evening meal planned – exactly the same as I’ll prepare for my husband, but with more leafy veg and no typical carby fillers – so am about to treat myself to a homemade soya milk latte with the spare calories.

I look forward to following everyone else’s stories as well as sharing my own.

    🙂

I think you did amazingly well, and worked out what suits you. I too fast on Monday and Thursday and try not to eat during the day but use my calories on a more substantial evening meal – I find that Weight-watchers meals are low calorie and low fat and with a plateful of leafy vegetables, make a sustaining plateful.
I try to curb hunger pangs with hot fluids or things like Bovril with some white pepper which spikes up flavour.
I am now on my third week and until now have lost 2.2kgs.I weigh on Saturday mornings and hope to see another small reduction this week.
Congratulations on making the efforts you do, and good luck with your journey.

Thanks for your comments – sounds like it’s going well for you too. I weigh in on a Friday morning and am celebrating a 2.4lb loss this morning, so even keener to keep going now.

Typically I woke up hungry yesterday morning – so had a couple of hard boiled eggs for breakfast. Got rid of the hunger pangs for about 3 hours, but when they came back at 11am they just didn’t go for the whole day. I was sloshing with the amount of black coffee and herbal tea I was sucking down just to have something.

Still, at least the scales were kind this morning despite all that liquid, and I slept really well again. And I’ll know not to have breakfast again!
