  • Hi all

    Jean
Well done with the weight loss 🙂
Hope your hubby has had some sleep and is feeling better today with the pain under control.

    Audrey
Sounds like you had a lovely day. Hope you continue to enjoy your holiday.

    C’mum
I guess it could be any time now for the new arrival.

    Ginette
Is it back to the decorating today? Go easy.

I weighed in this morning and have lost another 2.5lbs, so that means Ive lost 8lbs in total since I started on the 5:2 on 7th June just over 4 weeks ago! Im amazed….this does work!
Im not saying it hasnt been hard at times but hopefully my body will carry on adapting and it will eventually become a way of life.
Ive worked hard this week and really cut the calories, which isnt sustainable longer term, but for the next few weeks until I go away, I will try and sustain it.
Im more pleased with the fact that Ive lost an inch off my waist and hips, a couple more and hopefully I will be able to fit back into some of my smaller clothes.

Today Im off for a walk with my partner and the dog, but it will be via the pub and I am going to have a drink! But I will stay mindful and we have salad etc here to look forward to later.

I still need to try for the 16:8 on my NFD, so Ive not eaten breakfast today and will start the day with lunch before we go out.

Right time for Jillian Michaels…..its tough but seems to be worth it.

    Have a good Friday everyone.

    Kay x

    Morning all

The weather is set to turn very wet and windy here so we are taking our porch awning down before the wind does it for us.

Jean hope Steve is better today now he is in hospital hopefully they can find out what is wrong with him.. hope he managed to rest.

Ginette go easy pkease we don’t want you ill also.

Kay enjoy your walk and pub lunch hope its as enjoyable as mine was.

Cmum fingers crossed baby arrives safe and sound soon..

Have a good day all fast day today for me.

    Audrey

    Hi Jean

I’m glad you got a better night and a 1lb off is great, let’s hope he got a better night and they can do something today. It would be really good just to know what is the cause.

I have my rhubarb with half a low fat yoghurt, I too would love it with custard, I haven’t been on the stakes since Tuesday, it makes a change that I am not on and off of them.

Yes I can see much more that needs doing, you are right but I keep telling myself a bit at a time…….

    Hi Kay

Well done! You gave done really well, yes it dies work, I can remember being surprised at that as well. Enjoy the salad although it doesn’t look much like a salad day here. I don’t normally eat until just past lunch time and then dinner quite a bit later in the day.

I have got chicken and vegetables ready for tonight and some fruit for when I have my break later. Just another cup of tea for now.

    Hi Audrey

Weather not too good here either, but perfect for decorating. No I shall pace myself, a couple of hours at a time, I have to do some cleaning behind things first and then moving things around again, it will be nice to eventually get straight.

Have a good day, I hope the weather doesn’t effect you too badly. X

    Hi All,

    Kay …
You do really well but I know you are really working hard at it..well done on todays weight loss …8lbs is a good chunk in a month….all ready for holiday at the end of the month.

    Audrey…
Enjoy the rest of your holiday..hope the wind isn’t too bad…just have had a pork sandwich in a Warburtons Thin..I enjoyed it..a brown healthy one..lol

    Ginette..
A bit at a time with the decorating I think it goes for us all ( oldies) can’t do what we did…got to be custard on the rhubarb sod the calories.

Has anyone come across Miso soup, where to buy it?….people talk about it on here? Any good or dish water? Any thoughts anyone..

Just having lunch and coffee then I’m off..

    Xx

    Hi Jean

When I get tired I have a break, when I get really tired normally after a few hours I stop, I have a bit of white goods to move today, move the microwave, maybe I’ll get as far as moving the fridge freezer and even the tumble dryer, I’m not sure how far I’ll get but a bit of it done the kitchen is small, a galley kitchen really but fiddly with all of the things to move around.

As you remember Jean this is our being good month so custard will have to wait. I have a feeling I might have lost something on Tuesday, even if it just a pound. I have had a birthday ice cream arrive today and I have 28 days to use it. My birthday isn’t until November but I put different date in The Harvester site as I don’t want this and free Toby ice creams arriving together.

    Have a good hospital visit.

I was reading the paper and there was an article about how our cells change when we lose weight, they start to rejuvenate, a really good reason to lose weight. This is probably why people say losing weight can make you look younger.

The article is about gastric bands, but I don’t see that losing it naturally should be any different.

    Article link below

Have a good visit Jean, I hope you see a big improvement xx

The awning is down safely and all packed away before the tennis starts hehe. .

Jean glad u enjoyed your sandwich thin I too prefer the Brown ones.. I hope you find Steve a bit better when you visit him..

Ginette clever idea swapping birthday dates you are full of these clever ideas I would never have thought about it LOL. .

Haven’t heard from Cmum perhaps we have a baby in the way? …fingers crossed…

Hope you are all having a good day I am away now Wimbledon is on soon and its the men’s semi finals today….

    Audrey

    Hi All,

Back home with my boy…he had a good nights sleep and a good day…pain started again about 3 pm but it’s not like it was…hopefully!!

Specialist said he disagrees with MRI results, he says he sees a slipped disc on L1 and L2 on scan… He wants him to have another (third) and see him again in two weeks time also some physio.

He waited 8 hours to be discharged ….specialist told him at 9am…..he had to wait for 20 tablets to be delivered to ward arrived at 5pm…not a happy bunny 🙁

Haddock and chips for dinner…why when a good weigh in day?….it was just easy didn’t get home till 6 pm! Still in at 1200 calories just.

    Tomorrow’s another day

    Jean X

    Hi Audrey

I hope it was a good match. I haven’t seen any rain here yet.

    Hi Jean

It sounds as if the diagnosis is progressing now. Hopefully you can find out definitively in two weeks time. Nice to have him home again. I suppose they can’t really tell you how long it will be before he gets better until they get the results.

I don’t blame you haddock and chips sounds lovely. I haven’t had dinner yet as I want to finish the first coat on the kitchen. So many little nooks and crannies there. I’d like to call it a day but it will only take about another hour. Then I can make my dinner and relax.

Have a good evening, I hope you both get some sleep. Xx

    Evening all

I have had a reasonable day today… sticking to 800 kcaks already done 2 fasts this week…

Jean I am so glad he is home safely
    Give him our best please..

Ginette have a good evening and get some rest…

    Talk tomorrow

    Audrey

    Hi Audrey

I finished at just past 8. It was either fill up the tray again or call it a day, I did the latter. Just off to put dinner up now and then feet up and catch up with TV.

    Rest up Ginette…..

Thanks Audrey…all quiet at the moment..lol..lol

    X

symba – glad you both had a better night and that they are doing more/better investigations
I do hope they care improve things for him xx

    Evening all.

No baby yet but some cramping pains. 8 days late now. The poor girl is so fed up and very tearful. Midwife has booked her in to be induced on Tuesday. I’m hoping something happens before then.
Its not a fast day buy I’ve had the munchies today and indulged. Now I feel bad even though its ok really. Will just have to be more careful.

    Jean
Glad your OH pain is being better controlled. Sounds as if something is finally being done. Fingers crossed he gets the treatment he needs now.

Have a good weekend all. Might have some baby news soon.

    Morning all

I am shouting this as it is so noisy in the caravan… we have torrential rain and rain here thank goodness we got sorted out yesterday. .

Had a bad day food wise think I am better at 500 days rather than 800… although it is my fault I thought I will just have the one biscuit….. it never works does it? I ended up eating loads of course so went way over budget…

We have dupiaza and rice for our meal today it’s home made so at least I know there is no extra fat in it and its within my budget but today was going to be my treat day but not after yesterday…I am very angry at myself…😠😠😠

Hope you are all doing better than me. Have a great weekend and remember together we are stronger.

    Love to all

    Audrey

    Hi Jean

I hope Steve had a better night.

Yes I didn’t do a thing after I finished last night, not even the washing up after dinner, I was too tired. It is waiting for me in the kitchen so I shall do that after a cup of tea. A bit more to do later and hopefully by Monday the kitchen will be finished, well the painting at least. I still have a lot yo do in there, the painting is just the first stage.

    Hi KT x

    Hi CMum

Let’s hope she had it by Tuesday. A long wait…..

The stress may trigger the munchies, it will soon be over, then the fun begins.

    Hi Audrey

Poor you, I hope you managed to sleep through it.

No rain here yet, but skies are grey, I haven’t even looked at the forcast. One day won’t hurt and you have done so well. It was the biscuit that did it….. They are so morish.

I’m doing quite well this week, I haven’t been on the scales as I would have normal during the week, I hope to get a surprise, I’m hoping to lose at least a pound.

Let’s hope today you don’t get led astray…

    Morning All,

A dark drizzle day, a quick in and out for the cat, she flew back in like a bullet!

Poor Steve 7pm till 5 am the pain was very intense again he was up all night, I got up at 3.45 and sat with him and did a cup of tea, we returned to bed about 5.30 and we both slept. He has the pain now but manageable.

I have had it once in the past and it is like clockwork, so it could be 7 pm alarm tonight but I hope not.

It’s a bit challenging at the moment but we are fasting, he is a bit off his food at moment so it may help.

Thanks everybody for your wishes I have passed them on.

    Cmum..
I am wishing that baby on, the waiting is awful not much longer we all hope. Any names yet?

    Ginette..
Glad you are nearing the end of some of decorating, then you can get tidy and sorted. Rest up a bit before you start again. A long day yesterday for you.

    Audrey..
I love the rain in the caravan rocking you to sleep…dry in the day of course..try and keep off the munchies when you have got those pounds moving.

We are a bit the same get to a better weight then sabotage it ! Is it when you are near goal?? Maybe.

    KT..
Hope things are still going well for you…you seem to be on track..

What a time to be going for a shower and still in PJs…I should be keeping it a secret. .lol..lol ..off I go 😀

    Jean x

    Hi all

Well yesterday was an epic fail!! Lots and lots of alcohol!!
On a plus side, the only thing I ate when I was out and about was some cockles and a few dry roasted peanuts! And it did involve a good walk!

I did think of having a FD today but have already eaten so will just go for a normal to low day.

Hope that everyone is ok….baby, back pain, decorating, caravan….

Good day all. Rainy here today. Still no baby 😞. He will be Alfie or Louie. I think Louie is the favourite.
Eating not going well. Actually that’s wrong, eating going to well that’s my problem. Don’t know what’s triggered it but I’m struggling to control it. Maybe it was having words with my OH about his anger problems shouting at everything, me mostly. Didn’t help, he just got angrier. I thought I was hardened to it.
    Audrey
I remember the noise the rain makes on a caravan. We had one for years. Our kids loved going away in it. It was a lot of work for me as I got no help so I decided it wasn’t for me anymore.
    Jean
    Hope Steve improves soon.

Need to clean up. My fluffy main Coon cat is shedding everywhere.
    Have good rainy day.

    Hi Jean

It must be really draining to be so tired, I hope he has a better night tonight. It’s a wonder you can concentrate on fast day. I hope you had a nice rest today and maybe both got a nap in.

I went to bed at midnight yesterday, unheard of, it was about 2 when I turned out the light, but still early for me. Kitchen painting is now finished unless I need to touch any uo after it dries, tomorrow it is getting it back to being clean and putting everything away.

I’m off to Pams when I have had a cup of tea. I’m hungry tonight as well. Probably all this exercise and up and down the steps.

    Hi Kay

Just get back on track tomorrow and no real harm will be done, you have done so brilliantly up to now, it’s nice to have a day off now and again.

    Hi Audrey

I, sure you are still busy watching the tennis, I hope the rain has stopped, we have it forcast for the next three days here.

    Hi CMum

Yes stress is a real trigger with food, you too will feel better when that baby is here, ignore OH, I know that is often easier said than done.

    Ginette,
His pain is still managed up to now, a sleepy day for him. A run a round day for me ..lol

I have put a chart up for meds and I am in charge and spread the tablets out so not all together…see how it works. I think he was taking too many!

Have a nice night at Pams and have a rest..no surprises! Glad everything coming together.

I did get a 30 mins walk a bit of fresh air and out the house..

    Cmum,
I like both names quite popular at the moment. Hope he’s not too long now..

Just think D… head, smile, ignore..you are in charge. You are a different person now. Stuff him!

    Have a lovely evening all

    Jean x

Morning all. Well, holiday club is over and was great fun. Paid for it on the scales this morning with 1lb gain…why do we have to lose these same lbs over and over? Really frustrating! So doing my usual bust Sunday FD, and wondering how on earth to manage the summer. The boy will be with me almost constantly, and quite a lot of our time (trips, activities) is punctuated by food – it’s what gives me the excuse for a sit-down…who can keep up with a 7 year old who has never yet been tired out! And it’s really hard to get him to eat if I’m not eating…AAaaarrrghh! I know in the grand scheme of life, the univers and everything, that my struggle to re-lose a few lbx, and then lose some more is not a major deal…I must keep talking myself down from getting het up about this. I really don’t want to put everything back on this summer that I lost since starting out…but if I have to lose it all again, I will.
On a more positive note – I think I’ve discovered that I don’t like Pringles! I’ve never been able to stop eating the entire tube before, but I had a few of the boy’s this week, fully expecting the chance to gorge on the rest of them later and thought I detected an after taste…I don’t think I’ve ever eaten them consciously enough to really notice what I was tasting before. And when I went back to the tube later, there it was again…yep, a definite ‘not nice’ taste, so I didn’t eat them. I’m going to try and build this into a real aversion to Pringles, and leave them in the cupboard for the boy to finish.
Now is ther anything else I can apply this new-found aversion technique to…? Cakes? Walkers crisp? Custard cream?!!!!

    Morning all

Greetings from a wet Anglesey AGAIN!!

My back is not happy do having an easy day and supervising Ian doing the jobs..

Minols speaking as someone who’s children are now grown up just enjoy your holidays with your children these years are very special and once they are gone you cannot get them back… i am sure you will find a way around the weight loss we will all support you through and if you gain a couple of lbs you can soon shift it off again…

Jean how is hubby today I hope you both managed some sleep…

Cmum any sign of the baby yet?

Ginette what’s on the agenda for today? Your house is certainly getting a good do-over. ..

I am off now to take my pain killers so may be spaced out for a while…. ah well.

    Have a great day all

    Audrey

    Morning All,

A very rainy start now sun shining…

Steve’s had a good 24 hours with not a lot of pain with a good sleep (both of us) last night.

We made a meds chart yesterday, change times and spread out his tablets out through the the day. I am sure he was going short with his times and taking more than he should. I am now in charge with an alarm to tell me his tablet times.

He is very sleepy and drugged up! If we have a good day, I might reduce his morphine dose tomorrow.

I did get my 10,000 steps in yesterday…lots of fetching and carrying…so some good came out of it..lol..lol

    Audrey..
Hope you improve today too…it bit of Murray may help? Have a good tennis final.

    Minols..
Enjoy your holidays with the boy, push on strongly in September when he’s back at school. Do fasting when at work and away from him..

    Ginette..
Hope no naughties last night with Pam….have a lazy day and rest up today.

    Cmum..
Still waiting for some news…looks like Tuesday?

    KT..
    All OK..

Lots of people missing, hope everybody are on plan and not putting on any weight…pop back and join in..

    Have a good Sunday

    Jean X

    Hi Jean

I’m glad the pain is manageable now and that you both got a good sleep, it makes things seem so much better. Yes I imagine you are getting a lot of exercise in.

Kitchen painting finished I REALLY need to tidy up today. I spent about 20 minutes looking for my keys yesterday…..I didn’t find them so then spent another 10 looking for spare car key. I need to go through a rubbish bag I was going to take out last night. I am having a tidy up today and starting to get the kitchen straight, I will look through the rubbish as a last resort as I emptied the cat litter tray in there.

Dinner wasn’t too bad but I went into Tesco and bought a sone cream cakes two Belgian buns, one I gave to my neighbour as he too me and my cat to the vet the other day. So that was my treat day, fruit after dinner today. Cake was delicious well worth the wait and I only had one this way as I could have easily had both….

    Hi Mino

The good news is that the pound you are putting on you are taking right off and not adding another pund to it. Success lies in this way, if we then manage to take off more than we put on we are still on the way down.

Very good news about the Pringles, the best way to avoid them is not not have them in the house though, or only buy things that your son likes and you don’t.

    Hi Audrey

Sorry to hear that you back is playing up, a few easy days is what you need, no overctaxing yourself. It looks as if it has been raining here as well, I know it is forcast for a few days here, the weather is being kind to me at the moment as it isn’t too hot.

Just a tidying day today, trying to find thos keys!! I really need to get the kitchen straight as well.

Have a good day all, I am off to get another cup of tea.

This was in an article today about stress, the way to lessen anxiety and stress and turn it into something positive.

STEP ONE – Tell your brain it is excited not anxious – repeatedly telling the brain it is excited changes how it will perform. Cortisol is produced when you feel stressed OR pumped-up. But how the mind reacts alters whether the it is beneficial or detrimental. Trying to persuade the brain to be calm does not work.

STEP TWO – Breathe in slowly for five seconds then out for six. This changes the chemistry in the brain and acts like an anti-anxiety drug.

STEP THREE – Adopt a superhero posture. Pump the chest out and stand up tall, triggering the ‘fight’ rather than ‘flight’ emotion. This tricks the brain into feeling confident.

STEP FOUR – Clench your right fist for 45 seconds, open it for 15 seconds, then close it again for 45 seconds. This switches on the left side of the brain to put you in a ‘challenge’ frame of mind, lessening anxiety, and improving performance.

……not sure what a superhero postition in but I shall stand like superman really to fly around the room. 🙂

    Hi all

    Jean
I hope that Steve starts to feel better soon and you are on top of the painkillers for him

    Cmum
Im guessing that the baby is holding out til Tuesday then. Im sure your daughter is really fed up now. How old is the other one?

    Ginette
You must be nearly back to normal again at home with all your hard work.

    Audrey
Enjoy watching Andy today…..Im sat in front of the tv watching the F1 which is at Silverstone and its pouring down! I guess they will need the roof at Wimbledon!

    Minols
Just enjoy your time and do what you can.

After my off diet day on Friday, I decided to have a rough tally of the cals and it wasnt that bad after all…close to TDEE…so that was ok 🙂

However, yesterday I also had a relaxed day and didnt count the cals but did stay mindful.
The scales are up a lb today 🙁
Hope that doesnt mean that the only way I can maintain is at a lower intake!

Ah well….back to it for now…
Today is a NFD ahead of a FD tomorrow so I will count the cals properly today and as Ive managed not to eat until now, 1pm, I will have a short window of eating.

    Have a good Sunday everyone.

    Kay x

    Hi All,

All quiet on the eastern front….

    Ginette,

Steve’s not fancying his food..what did I make…rhubarb crumble and custard for lunch…he had two small portions…I knew he would..lol..lol ….yes and I did!

Lost keys ..a nightmare we have lost a back door key recently….no idea where. Somewhere safe maybe!.

Looking good for you starting to put things back, you will be so pleased all spick and span.

    Audrey,

Hope you start feeling better take it steady…enjoy the tennis. We have F1 on.

    Kay,

We will both be fasting tomorrow, those pesky pounds up and down before they decide to stay off for good!

Like you as I eat anything a bit extra food wise the scales show up, I think it will be 5.2 for ever going up 1 pound and down a pound 😬

I have had 500 cals up to now…so leaving a bit for dinner tonight. No idea what yet!

    Jean x

    Hi Kay

Mine go up and down all week, this is the first week I haven’t been on mid week, I hope I’m not in for a shock!! Our bodies do change a lot just with water content, after a fast day is the best time to weigh which is why I weigh on Tuesday. I don’t think that it is anything to worry about.

    Hi Jean

With all that running around I wouldn’t think you will have gained and remember we are allowed to have a treat day. Glad things are Ok. Audrey and I buy our rhubarb from farm finds 750gm packet for £1 a real bargain and all prepared.

    Audrey

I am sure you are imersed in the men’s final. I hope it’s a good match, you will be lost next week. I’m just having a slow potter not too much effort today, just going up to Pams.

    Evening all.
Finally the baby is on the way. My daughter went into labour after our Sunday dinner. Going to be along night as Ill have to go and look after her 2 yr old while mum and dad are at the hospital. Will keep you posted.
    Jean,
Glad hubby’s pain is easing. Its awful to be in such pain constantly.

Have to go. Hope all well with you all.

    H CMum

At long last the wait is over…… I hope it’s quick now xx

Oh CMum…how exciting! Holding my breath for you, and ‘panting’ for you daughter.

FD yesterday went well, and this morning a quick step on the scales was positive…but not a good comparison, as I track what I weigh just before a FD. I reckon it doesn’t matter which you track…but it does need to be consistent!
    Mx

caspersmum – how exciting, hope all goes smoothly for your daughter

    Morning all

    Fast day today for me…

Cmum hope baby arrived quickly and safe..

Not to clever today will catch up later

    Love to all

    Audrey

    Morning All,

A rainy day here ….hope it clears up I have outside jobs to do..

Steve’s holding his own and tablets doing the job…a bit drugged up ..in and out..but tablets working. Keeps nodding off 2 cups of tea all over him and chair, thankfully not too hot!

    Cmum..
What an exciting time, hope he’s not too long and all safe and sound. Is he here yet???

Have a good day with the two year old.

When my daughter was giving birth in Dubai, she rang me on her way to hospital, I was on the next day’s flight out. By the time she was home, just waking up in the morning I surprised her by taking her morning breakfast in bed!

Such an exciting time for every baby. I have 5 and with no favourites.

    Audrey..
I feel it for you, hoping you can get the pain in control and feel better. Yours sounds a long ongoing thing. Take care.

    Ginette..
I have had the rhubarb from Iceland same sort of thing, I even got 3 packets on offer for 2 just £2..awhile since now. I have had the apple that’s not so good I made a pie and it stayed lumpy, still some may like it that way.

FD for us today..hope your weigh in is good tomorrow.

    Minols..
Hope you are keeping busy and managing to fast when you can…

    Kay..
Hope you are holding your own, I am with you on this up and down business.

I had a few jobs to keep me busy today, outside windows and grass cutting but it’s raining…might manage the Windows later..

Have good fasting ..if it’s your day

    Jean X

    Hi Audrey

Sorry to hear that you aren’t so good, hope you get better soon.

    Hi Jean

Glad Steve isn’t too bad, he probably feels better that he is able to do something. Your Rhubab sounds ok. I think I would prefer the apple if it had a little bite….not too much though.

I’m annoyed to say that I have decided I don’t like the kitchen colour so although I am going to use it as a base coat in the passage I shall be getting a cream for the hall and kitchen. The magnolia I have in the living room is a warm cream, this is a cold flat beige, so out to get some more paint later. ….and to think I thought that the kitchen was finished. Sigh……

    CMum

I hope baby is her, I am sure we will here later.

    Hi all

Off home tomorrow got the summons to go to my mums on Wednesday…

My back is still not right for lots to do before we go so will be in touch when I can.

Jean glad Steve is getting some relief now…

    Love to all

    Audrey

    Hi Audrey

I hope the journey goes well and that you don’t need to do a lot for your Mum.

Below is something reported by the mail but from a medical paper. I love the bit about the chocolate.

5 Foods That Enhance Weight Loss by Salma S. Khan

Can certain foods really help you control your weight and lose pounds in time for summer?

    Salmon

Oily fish such as salmon, mackerel, sardines and anchovies are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, also known as ‘good’ fats. Other sources of omega-3 include; walnuts, flaxseeds and chia seeds. These ‘good’ fats have been found to boost metabolism, and encourage weight loss. Interestingly omega-3 fats are thought to improve sensitivity to the hormone leptin, which is thought to also act as an appetite suppressant. As leptin levels rise, metabolism increases and appetite diminishes. On the other hand as the hormone leptin falls, metabolism decreases with appetite increasing. According to research from Monash University in Australia, the hormone leptin may significantly increase thermogenesis which is thought to regulate the number of calories we burn.

    Hot Peppers

Many research studies suggest that a compound found in chilies known as capsaicin may speed up metabolism, consequently aiding in weight loss. Researchers at the University of Wyoming in the United States reports that capsaicin may help burn off calories by stimulating the body to create heat through a process known as thermogenesis. Studies suggest that a spicy meal may temporarily raise a person’s metabolic rate by up to 25% more than their average metabolic rate. Interestingly, a Canadian study found that capsaicin may also act as a mild appetite suppressant. Researchers assessed a group of adult men who consumed hot sauce with appetizers prior to a meal. These men ended up consuming an average of 200 fewer calories at later meals in contrast to another group of men who didn’t eat anything containing capsaicin.

    Celery

Experts believe that the celery is another thermogenic food, meaning that your body temperature may be raised, and as a result you burn more calories than usual. Researchers report that both the time it takes for a person to eat celery and then to digest it burns the same number of calories as naturally contained in celery itself. In addition as well as being low in calories, celery is both high in fiber and water content which makes you feel full very quickly. The celery also has diuretic properties that encourages the flow of urine out of the body prompting an increase in metabolism, and consequently the break down of fat cells.

    Green Tea

Green tea has many health benefits, the tea is rich in free radical fighting antioxidants, and contains the amino acid L-theanine which is thought to help increase calmness. In addition, researchers report that green tea may enhance weight loss by increasing metabolism. Powerful antioxidants known as catechins found in green tea are what experts believe boosts the metabolic rate. Interestingly, experts have found that green tea catechins work particularly well to reduce fat around the abdominal area. A study published in the Journal of Nutrition found that people who drank green tea whilst also exercising regularly burned more calories than those who just exercised and didn’t consume any green tea.

    Dark Chocolate

Much to the delight of dieters, research reveals that the consumption of dark chocolate could actually promote weight loss. Scientists report that this exciting discovery is thought to be due to chocolate’s effects on stress hormones. When the stress hormone cortisol spikes, it encourages the conversion of blood sugar into fat for long term storage. Appetite may also be increased – so managing stress levels may allow for better control of what goes into the mouth by preventing emotional eating. The consumption of even a small amount of dark chocolate is thought to increase levels of the ‘feel good’ hormone serotonin, consequently helping to alleviate feelings of stress and boosting mood. Participants in one study who consumed a small amount of dark chocolate daily were shown to have reduced levels of cortisol.

How annoying the colour isn’t right after all your work in the kitchen…still better to have the right colour so you can live with it.

We had a ride out today daughters hoping to move and wanted our opinion on some houses, just the area not inside, so got out of the house a bit. Pain still under control and he looked brighter.

    Audrey..
Poor you …don’t be bullied when you get to Mums. Only do what you can. Look after your back. Safe journey back home.

Kept busy when back from house hunting to keep me off food….I got all inside windows washed and frames…raining outside so that’s tomorrow’s job….I hate windows!

    Evening all.

Been a night and day. Ended up staying up with my daughter while she was in labour. I stayed with my grandson while Stephie and her husband went to hosp. I was called to hospital because all had not gone well on the birthing unit. She had been left on her own in labour and her husband had to go looking for a staff member as she was pushing. Then her placenta refused to be delivered but instead of calling a doctor the staff tried to pull it out causing bleeding. By the time they got her up to the labour ward she was practically unconcious. Ended up in theatre. Been with her all day. Baby fine and a healthy 8lb 8oz baby boy. Mum much better this evening. Phew.
    Stressful day.

Congratulations, CMum…all’s well that ends well, eh?! Hope your daughter has a smooth transition home, and the wee one settles in well with the rest of the family.

I’m doing final chores to leave home and work for a week as I head down to England to see my Mum with the boy. I’m going to concentrate on eating lightly and sensibly, although it just occurred to me that I might manage a FD while with Mum, as I’ve just remembered that she used to have a FD on a Monday back when I was a teenager – so decades before Moseley et al! She always has been a bit ahead of her time, and she did it for a combination of spiritual and dietary reasons. So, who knows, I might fit one in.

Meanwhile, I’m loving some soup I made using a recipe from the Fast cook book – Skippers Soup. Essentially, onion, chorizo, tinned beans (kidney, butter, whatever in the cupboard) and stock. Yum!

    Morning All…

Very sunny this morning, finishing my out door jobs today…missing my cleaning partner!

Lowering some drugs today..keeping fingers crossed.
