  • Hi – new to the 5:2 Diet. Just wondering – can i have an orange in the am or should i be waiting to eat until my one meal at noon or dinner?

    Hi ecn and welcome:

You can eat anything you want whenever you want as long as you stay within the calorie guidelines. Eating an orange is fine, but may make you hungry because of its sugar. Many find that eating high fat/protein food on diet days cuts their hunger.

Here is some information on 5:2 that may help: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/forums/topic/the-basics-for-newbies-your-questions-answered/

    Good Luck!

    Hi ecn33
Welcome to the best thing that can happen to you.
My husband and I have been on the diet for about 6 weeks now and lose about 1 -1.5 lbs a week and are feeling great. Why didn’t we start this years ago?
We actually look forward to fasting days because it is great to get on the scale the day after and see what has happened.
We eat three meals on our fasting days and make sure it is below the 500 calories and we lose weight every time.
A example of our diet is porridge in the morning with a small orange juice and black coffee.
Lunch homemade veg soup with herbal tea.
Supper about 250 calories examples prawn stir fry,or anything vegetarian there are cook books that show the number of calories you would be amazed what you can eat for 250 calories.
I always think there is no way this could me as low as that.
    Good luck victoria
