  • Hi everyone

I did the 5:2 diet 4 years ago when I hit 60, I hadn’t got a lot of weight to lose, half a stone, which I achieved. I’m now 64 and the weight is creeping up on me again, would love to lose another half stone again and appreciate its harder when you don’t have so much to lose.

I successfully did my first fast yesterday and was actually quite well under the 500 cals at 363 cals but I have a question on calories in skimmed milk, in the morning, being retired I have 3 mugs of tea with approx 75ml of skimmed milk in total, according to my Fast Diet book that equates to 27 calories but on my Healthspan App on my phone it is 48 calories, other calorie counting websites count that amount at 75 calories.

Obviously every calorie counts, especially as I also have a mug of coffee mid morning with another slug of skimmed milk. Its very confusing whether to make my skimmed milk calories 100 or just 36 calories. Does anyone have an answer to this?

    Hi Walki,

I drink skim milk but I’m in the US so I use imperial measurements. According to the milk in my fridge, 1 cup is 90 calories. By my calculations that equals approximately 28.5 calories for 75ml.

I hope you have great success with your fasting.

In the UK skimmed milk averages 35 calories per 100ml. This information is from the UK Dairy Council website so it should be accurate.
