  • Good Morning all, I’ve know I have just started but found that yesterday was a day that could have undone the previous 2 days of fasting. So easy to give up at the earliest stage due to feasting (over the top). So even though I did a fast day on Wednesday, I’m doing one today to get my head into gear and not let go of the journey. I’m off on Holidays tomorrow but will be packing the soups etc so that I can manage. The interesting thing about some of the food that I put into my mouth is that I really don’t necessary like them (junk food, some chocolates etc) and the better option is also sitting in front of me (fruit & veg) which I like. Need to open the fridge door and check the crisper. Will catch up with you when I return.

PS Don’t leave Countrygal- you are needed.

    Hi everyone!
Thanks kokotango…your post made me laugh….please post more..it lightened my day!

Weigh in today…finally stood on those scales after 2 weeks of birthday,Christmas and New year celebrations…..2nd fast day back SW 64.7kg..CW 66.9kg…OUCH!!… ..2kg up. Back to 4:3 this week.Monday,Thursday and Saturday.

This WOL is DOABLE and I know that it works… thanks GG for your post..its all positive!

Its great to have everyone back from holidays and so many new people joining in…..ready and so positive…this was a positive time that WE DID together to show that we can chill out from time to time and then get back to our healthy way of life….CG thanks for bringing us together!!

Good morning everyone! CG…..you are our life blood on this thread and I am sorry if any of us has made you feel taken for granted, because that is something that we would never do! I try and post as much as I can, and I must admit that when I haven’t been on for a few days, I can get overwhelmed by amount of posts to try and comment to, so I’ll have to get more regular! πŸ™‚

Barata…..my son has been Brisbane for 2 years and has just moved to Sydney in December (he’s in Army)….last time he came over to Albany was Christmas two years ago and the last time I saw him was 12 months ago at my mum’s funeral…so really looking forward to seeing him, he’s my youngest and is bringing his girlfriend with him (that I haven’t met yet) so that will be wonderful. He’s very fit and health conscious so he will be pleased at the amount of weight I’ve lost since I last saw him πŸ™‚

Well done everyone for sticking to 5:2 especially over Christmas & New Year….I’ve put on 1.4 over New Year two days, but am fasting today and Monday…after my son goes back, I’m going to get really serious with my non-fast days and get rid of some more kgs!!! Look out 70 kilos……here I come

Ah, Foxy, now I understand that “coming from the east” was in fact from Sydney. We will be in Sydney in three weeks, will meet daughter’s new bf for the first time, so I know what you mean.

CG, I lurked for a long time before taking the plunge and starting to contribute. And I know once I am back at work my posts will be less frequent, especially with all the messages on the different threads to read, but your fan-base needs you.

Welcome, Jen, and stick at it!

    B

LOL Barata……yes everyone from ‘the other side’ are referred to as being from Γ³ver east’ in WA…..now I’ve gotten into the habit myself!

Having one of those cold days today…..getting the chills….just had a hot shower and decided to wear jeans, even though it’s warm outside….5:2 must be working πŸ™‚

Still here CG! I don’t really look at the other threads on here, but do get a lot on my face book page as I first joined there before here. They are mainly UK based and a few USA. It all makes it an interesting experience. I do notice the UK ers buy a lot of pre packed ready meals, where we tend to make fresh meals. Fresh is better and a lot cheaper! but whatever works…
Occasionally Kate Harrison posts and does little pod casts, giving tips and hints.
Back to work on Monday, so back to the normal way of life.
Out to dinner AGAIN tonight, friends we haven’t seen over Christmas, so …I’m not stressing! NO! Just roll on MONDAY! LOL !!

Nooooo! CG, it’s your posts I repeat to my sister-in-law (who has just started and not yet on the forum). I find them so encouraging and want her to be as encouraged by them as I am. So sorry if I haven’t been posting as often as others. Thanks to all who have contributed so much positivity. When things go pear-shaped (haha)we all know where to go.

GG you’re a star, even with everything going on you always look on the bright side.
Thanks for the feedback FB, Lindanaf, Barata, Uptight and everyone who make this forum such a happy, happy place (doing the snoopy happy dance)

Happy new year everyone! I am doing my first fast day since the seasonal silliness which THANK GOODNESS was not as much of a wrecker to the project as it could have been. So now I am a month in, but this is only my 6th fast day. Just done all my measurements, not at all compementary at present.
On and Up for 2015! Or should that be on and down??

Hi team, It must have seemed like I had a hissy fit this morning and I feel so very humbled by all your responses. I just turned the computer on, and as habit, went straight to out thread, golly what a reaction. I guess I “cracked the sads” as we all do at times but seeing so many of you posting today is wonderful, thank you all so much. We all seem to be holding our own with our first weigh in for the year, I would think that is normal after 10 days or so of abnormal feasting but as we know our 5:2 is just so forgiving and next weigh in will be a different story. You will be surprised how easy the extra goes and we may even be lighter than before once it’s all flushed through us. Give it time, stay on track and from what I see no real damage has been done. On the positive, didn’t we enjoy that naughty food though, that delectable wine and the love of family and friends that went with it! πŸ™‚ Enjoy your week end, Monday will be with us before we know it πŸ˜‰ and I can pretty much guarantee a loss by us all showing mid or end Jan that will put the smile back on our faces πŸ˜€ Don’t forget your AUSSIE DETERMINATION will never let you down because YOU CAN DO IT…CG xxxx πŸ˜‰

CG….. I hope you now know just how important YOU ARE TO US!!!!. Just look at all the posts in response to you since this morning. WE NEED YOU! I came from another thread as your buddy, if it were not for you and I also being able to see and speak to each other outside AUSSIE DETERMINATION I would have found it difficult in reaching my goal.

So please, keep your wonderful encouraging and supportive posts going….. As the FOX has written you are the LIFE BLOOD OF AUSSIE DETERMINATION…..

Thanks team for helping CG feel valued. THIS IS AUSSIE DETERMINAION AND WE STICK TOGETHER…..ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL……. GO GAL xxxxxx

    Hi everyone

CG you are important to us please continue your writing.

Had a lovely day shopping lunch in park pepper pie oops delicious.

Two hours swimming in and out of the ocean. Top temp 42 degrees. A bit hot in caravan.
Might have another swim before bed. Love summer holidays

Sadly going home tomorrow after two weeks all different weather and now now hot weather Victorian summer could get anything.

Weigh In Sunday yeeks. Did two 6 1 s hope that’s helped.

    Happy new year everyone,
CG i’m sorry you felt abandoned, you are so important to everyone on the forum, and speaking personally you were so helpful and encouraging to me when i first came on here to start my 5:2 journey.. So thank you and please dont stop posting.
I must say i have to confess i have been in read only mode as i have suspended fasting during the festive season, but have read all of the posts about you stronger people doing it on holidays. I cant predict what social stuff will happen at the moment, so i dont want to get stuck and end up blowing a 500 day, so i just put it on hold and watched my food intake.
And i have been tempted by chocolate, cheese, smoked meats.. In all their deliciousness!
    Yum, naughty food..
Anyway i will get back on the wagon very soon, on the upside i havent put on any weight, but i havent lost any either!
I will try and be more active here to get me back into it!

    Hi everyone
I too have just been reading lately and am still off the wagon with teenagers on school holidays. I hate bringing attention to myself when its fasting days by saying “no thanks I’m fasting today” and having to wear the negative comments from everyone else in the family. Its easier to eat breakfast before everyone, keep busy at work (and skip lunch) and have fish and salad for dinner (without the wine). Now that I can manage – Baskin and Robins after the movies today, a husband that pours wine like water, an a fridge full of Christmas M&M’s I can’t manage.

Its still hot and humid in central Qld and so no exercise is happening.

Cheers to all – and hoping to do a successful fast on Monday. – Yorkygirl

Good morning my precious team. Awful weather here, 30 already on my deck at 7.00am so another stinker coming up. The breeze is quite nice but if it turns northerly means huge fire risks. Fire ban for all the state. SA is in the same way. I’m thinking of fasting today or doing a semi fast, I’m bloated and feel “puffy” all over. Did a bit a emotion eating yesterday, self inflicted, because of your support back on track this morning, mind set in place, good day to keep the water going so see how I go. Still prefer to stick with the 5:2 as history has proven that it works and a better way of life so will be extra aware, or conscious of what I eat. Really got the pickies going yesterday, everything and anything! πŸ™ Emotional eating got me this way in the first place with an abusive marriage, then the relief that it was over, I ate for pleasure not out of nerves,….that’s in another life…in the past, the control is mine now, I will not allow those demons back πŸ˜‰ My daughter sent the most beautiful photo’s of her and the family from Margaret River and the coast road, it is a glorious place, I understand your love of Albany Foxy, she said they want to stay, typical tourist caught up in the beauty of things, but I’m so glad their holiday is relaxed and peaceful. I hope your day goes well team, enjoy it especially those of you reaching or close to goal weight, you can afford not to be so rigid with your food choices but it is the better habit to get into.
So my day will consist of cold meat and salads, fruit from the fridge, and water, water, water…..Stay Cooool team, enjoy….CG πŸ˜› … Xxxx

    Hi
This is week 5 of fasting and the tape measurement is steady on the figure it was when I began. The last two fast days were semi-fasts because I was working a job in which I drive and I didn’t want to be distracted by the hunger pangs. I find it extremely difficult to concentrate on fast days. I wonder if it’s possible I have a different body to other fasters. No one mentions the problem of lacking concentration.
It’s also enormously discouraging to see people having success when nothing is changing for me. I did change my breakfast on fast days to a higher protein food to see if this made a difference but so far nothing is happening.
Forecast today in Victoria is 42C. Horrible. Stay safe peeps.

Knitomat, I’m sorry and surprised to hear your having trouble…. Can you go without breakfast on fast days a lot of us find breakfast STARTS the hunger, have a light brunch around 11.00-1.00, it is easier than you think, just keep drinking water to ease any hunger pangs, and as simple as it sounds, nibble on a juicy carrot if needed. Have a hard boiled egg late in the morning, they are very satisfying protein and filling, savour it, make it last. You get so used to not having breakfast in fact I don’t eat all day other than my evening meal, just drinking, water, teas or black coffees all day. It really is about mind set, if water is boring, add some lemon slices with a hit of fresh mint, or even diet cordial, the apple and rosehip/ black currant is lovely. Being on the road is difficult but fluids are the key. I would be packing sliced carrotts, celery or apple in a container and put in an esky type container to keep it cold and crisp. It’s just imagination….. I think the concertration or lack of is because of obsessing on food…it may take time to reset your mind set… But it does work. Have you read THE BOOK it is really our bible of fasting and hints. Kitomat, please stick with it, check your non fast day caloury intake too, chech your TDEE in the HOW section at the top of this page…..IT WILL WORK, your AUSSIE DETERMINATION will work and YOU CAN DO IT! Good luck and let us know daily what you are eating so we can advise you of any downfall… πŸ™‚ …. CG … Xxx

    Hi all.

Wow, I’ve missed quite a bit here. CG, you know as well as we do we’d be lost without you, please don’t leave. (Pretty pretty please with a cherry on top). You know, I felt bloated all night (couldn’t sleep because of it) and this morning as well. I woke up several times purely because my hands felt swollen. I was very grateful it was a FD today. I needed the detox. We had some snacks from a frozen food place yesterday (egg rolls, falafel, etc) but we put them in the oven instead of frying them. I think there is a lot more salt in them than I am used to, as I usually cook from scratch. So we appeared to be bloating twins today πŸ™‚

Lindanaf, I have noticed the Brits like their ready-made meals. I’ve been wondering about that. But I guess the influence of Marks and Spencer is quite big over there, if it’s what you already know, it makes sense to fit it into 5:2. Also, on one episode of Mock The Week, a topical, political satire panel show on the Beeb (where I got to know and adore your own Adam Hills), they had a conversation about a news paper article on how British parents are too busy to teach their children how to peel an orange. so many kids don’t learn how to prep an orange to eat it anymore. I always remembered that because it struck me as so odd that you wouldn’t take time to teach your child how to eat fruit.

Lol Bali, I don’t think it’s ever even been 42Β°C in Belgium. Just fired up the Google to check and the highest ever temperature detected in Belgium was 38.8Β°C in 1947. Last Summer the temperature went up to 36.7Β° or something and it was talked about for weeks πŸ™‚

Robbie, not losing weight during the holidays sounds like a victory to me. Last week I was up 300g from my lowest weight, God knows where I’m at now. But it’s okay, It’s only Christmas once a year, I’m not sweating it.

The shirt I’d ordered that came in an AU size 16/18 even though I’d ordered a 6/8 has arrived in the right size today and it’s still too big. I’m not sure to be happy or sad about it. I’ll be whipping out my sewing machine this weekend, I think, so I can try to fit it.

I had the most amazing FD dinner today, an overn dish with soufflΓ© (yes, seriously, soufflΓ©!) and only 217 kcal. It had parmesan on it and everything. Delicious.

    Keep it going, everyone!xXx

Just another hint, think of hunger pangs as fat dissolving. The body using it up, the system getting ready to get rid of it, like I said…. Mind set, it really does work and they do not last long at all, ride them through, you will find that those pangs are really thirst too!…. GC xx

Hi CG, thanks for your encouraging words. I have a friend who has been 5-2ing for months and she has had great success. Her advice was the same as yours in that I should think of the hunger pangs as fat dissolving. This would be encouraging if the fat was actually leaving my body but it is not.
I’ve been leaving a 16 hour break between the evening meal the day before fast day and then having breakfast. That usually means I eat late morning or early afternoon. Then I have an evening meal around 6pm. I’m within my TDEE on non-fast days. I know, my girlfriend can’t offer any more advice either. It’s so discouraging to see the same number on the tape measure every day.
What I find particularly difficult is that before I began 5-2 it was usual for me to experience hunger pangs before breakfast. Now, on fast days, the pangs are verging on pain which makes them difficult to ignore.
It is encouraging to read about other people who have had similar experiences to mine but it is tricky staying positive when everyone seems to be doing so much better. Especially when I’d be happy to lose 15 kgs. Current weight 81kg, preferred weight 65kg.
I’m sticking with it and will continue trying different things. Thanks for your support.

Morning Team….very humid & hot here on the coast. So yesterday I inflated my pool filled her up and used a chlorine tab in a dispenser to keep the water alge free. We had some rain so the water tank come in to good use to fill it. There are so many tourists here, it has been one of the most busiest times here this year ,we still have not gone to the beach since our return from Lord Howe due to the traffic chaos in the town. My little pool is a welcome relief. Hubby has turned the area into a beach side oasis with sand and palm trees & a privacy screen…. he is a treasure!

I am now a size 12……down 2 dress sizes . Size 10 is around the corner YEY!!!!

Last night for dinner we had king crab , There is so much meat in the legs very juicey and sweet. Served with a green salad. It went down beautifully. If you are near a Woolies & they are availiable do try them.

Hope you all have a cool day…. Hope all is fine in Victoria and that you are all far from the fires…..Keep safe all of you…….GO GAL

Knitomat, I have been thinking of your plight whilst bringing in my first load of washing and putting second on the line ( only benefit of hot winds is lovely dry fresh washing within an hour, so all going straight back on the bed) If your caloury intake over each week is less than prior to starting 5;2, if you are sticking to 1/4 of your average non fast day cals on your fasting days ( usually 500) if you are trying to drink 2 litres of water on fast days as well as non fast days, I cannot see how you would not be losing weight! Often if you are close to your goal weight, your loss does get slower. All I can suggest, you stick with it, write down what you eat daily, what alcohol or fluids you drink, and after a week, look at it and see where, if any, you are going wrong. Maybe the way you cook your food, maybe too much take away! Tummy “pains” are a worry, general gurgles are normal and usually mean thirst. See how you go, all the best, you will become a project to us all……CG xx

GG, wish I was there for your dinner last night, sounds so so yummy. Xxxx

Hi all and best wishes to anyone in the Adelaide Hills or any of the other hot places today. Raining and 28 here is Brisbane.

I like to think that way about the hunger pangs too @countrygal. I seem to be permanently hungry since xmas! Yesterday wasn’t a fast day and I did stay around my TDEE but had carb cravings and ended up having a fairly unbalanced day with cheeses and pizza and wine, which only contributes to the hunger when you think how many calories were used up in those things.

Coles have Skinny Cow ice creams at half price this week for anyone interested. I bought them for my husband yesterday. Sweet things don’t appeal to me much. I am hoping he will have more success sticking to a fast day if he can eat a treat! i imagine they will all be gone before next Monday however!
@ Flemishcurves, a 6-8 is too big? Even if I was thin I couldn’t wear that size, my skeleton would be too big!

CG……. Get on a plane and come!!!!! one day I WILL get you here……. AND FOXY AS WELL…..GO GAL

I have not counted cals for awhile as I rarely have eaten up to my TDEE on feast days . Once you begin making the right food choices ….is there really a need?

@ FLEMISHCURVES- you would look like a whale in that size, though at times a lager shirt can be a bonus wear it belted or as an over shirt with a T underneath……GO GAL

GG, one day there will be a knock on your door when you least expect expect it !! Although I doubt I’d do that, probably give you a weeks warning… Take care mate, #~>#}dy hot here, good washing day, but too hot to be out there, dangerous day all round, not as hot as black Saturday, that day the air felt explosive but it’s getting close, still early especially with day light savings. Air con and ceiling fans going, house cool if No doors are opened, good day for watching movies/ videos I’ve taped and don’t get the chance to watch, even though having a SEMI fast, It is a good whiskey/diet coke day……. CG xxxx πŸ˜€

    Good Morning ADs
And wow, so much happening here.
Very good advice CG. This reinforces that I need to drink 2 ltr of water everyday. As I really don’t and its so easy to drink up wnough water. Thanks again for reminding.
I fasted yesterday and my fast turned out to be a man fast as I finished at 600 cals. This was my first fast of 2015 and Goshhhhhh it was tough. Its so easy to get out of habbit.
This morning weighed at 74.3 kgs (mind it Am very bloated) which is 400 grams up from my pre chrissy weigh in. So, looks like damage is fixed with one fast. Also, tape measure shows that I have lost an inch from waist since pre chrissy measurements. Looks like its right direction πŸ™‚

Foxy, my target for January end is 71 kgs as I’d like to think that 3 kilos a month is fair target. Wat’s your target. Lets Do It!!!

Hi CG, Michael’s documentary got us interested. Michael and Mimi’s book got us started. But you keep us going. xxxx

Thank you Andrew I appreciate every ones’s words of kindness, I feel very humbled by it…. Nice to hear from you hope all is well….. πŸ™‚ …CG xxxx

Hi Knitomat, you will find a fast day regime that works best for you – it took me some time. I find I have to have breakfast or I struggle, so I start with 2 eggs on a single slice of dry low gi toast. I have a bit of a secret weapon for keeping hunger pangs from gnawing. As an ibs sufferer, I have taken psyllium husk for a long time. Apart from the anti-ibs benefits, it swells in the stomach and seems to stop my hunger pangs dead. On non-fasting days, I take the “natural” Metamucil powder with water morning and evening. I avoid the flavoured ones as they contain artificial stuff whereas the “natural” powder is just psyllium and a little sugar. On fast days I take Metamucil capsules as they contain only psyllium (no sugar) morning (after breakfast) and mid/late afternoon with lots and lots of water. Dinner is a salad of lettuce, spinach, carrot, a few cherry tomatoes and maybe a radish followed by a bowl of berries (black, blue and rasp) with a dollop of low fat yoghurt. Coffee with low fat milk in the morning and lots of water, and then peppermint or chamomile tea and lots more water afternoon and evening. No meat, no alcohol on fast days.

At the start I used MyFitnessPal to carefully log everything to see what was happening on non-fast days. Discovered a lot of surprising things about the food and drink I consume which helped me keep non-fast days from blowing out. Also took up walking – a sharp 4 km walk under 45 minutes or so will burn around 300 cals. I do that every second day weather permitting. I especially like the though of walking on fast days – given there is less glucose in my blood on fast days, I like to think the 300 cals being burnt might include some fat… I use an app called RunKeeper to chart my walks and RunKeeper interfaces with MyFitnessPal – I kind of like gadgets πŸ™‚

Sorry for the long post. Hope some of this helps.

Hi girls have just started, last Sunday was my first fast day then again on Thursday. I am going to change to Mondays and Thursdays. I have been reading everything I can get my hands on as I need to lose about 15kg. The fast days have been ok so far but I got really bad headaches on the second fast day. I am not sure if it was from lack of caffeine as I didnt have my first coffee until about 2pm and no food until 7pm although I was drinking heaps of water. I have been weighing myself often and weight is fluctuating greatly. I have probably lost about 1kg. I have been watching claories on the feast days and don’t go over 2000 but my fitness pal hates it because according to that I should only be having 1200. Anyway good to have somewhere to go for support.

Hey AoC, thanks for your concern. I’ve ordered my own copy of the book so I can really figure out what will work for me. In reality, it has taken over 20 years for my extra weight to go on so I don’t mind if it takes a while to come off. I did think it was going to be simple but it looks like I’ll have to be more particular about both fast and non-days.
I can iterate swany’s comment that it is good to have somewhere to vent and find support.

Swany welcome to our family like team, you seem to be doing every thing right. MFP has everyone on 1200 but you don’t need to eat upto 2000 cals either, just what you are comfortable with, I find I struggle to reach 1200 and other days go well over, which in some ways makes 500 cals on fast days an incorrect amount! Eating under 500 can be impossible at times so I stick to it no matter what my feats days are. We are here definately to support you and advise but also share our stories and hints. Most of us still have 15-20k more to go so we will all be on this journey together, some of our clever members are already so close to goal weight but keeping their 5:2 going for the health benefits. Again welcome.
Andrew thats the most we have ever heard from you, don’t apologise for a long post, it is wonderful, and your input and help greatly appreciated.
    Stay coooool team… πŸ˜€ …. CG xx

@swany, I found my weight fluctuated a lot when I first started but then settles and you know the loss is real. I wouldn’t go without caffeine. I need a coffee to start my day bur I guess a coke zero would give you caffeine for no calls although not exactly a health food! Good luck.

Good morning everyone! Mid morning over here and I’ve had a busy morning already! Up at 5:30 for my daily walk with dog, was still fasting from yesterday, so hopefully will have burnt up some fat!

FB…..I am still hovering around 74.8 – to 75.3 (this morning) after Christmas New Year….so I’m aiming to be 73 by end of January….then in February I plan to do a few weeks of 4:3 to get down to 70….I’m struggling with a bit of binge eating on non-fast days lately so need to get that under control…

Some great advice on here knitomat….I can’t add anymore except say water, water, water is the key…..I’d like to say exercise as well, but many have success who have health problems and don’t do much…..maybe your metabolism is still adjusting to this WOE…

Hey GG…..well done on the size 12…..you will need a new wardrobe soon….I have two size 10 dresses tucked away for a magic day….hopefully by next Christmas? And who knows? My youngest has just moved to Sydney…..I’m sure I’ll need to visit him at some time πŸ˜€ How far away are you from there?

Welcome swany…..the weight does fluctuate a bit when you first get started, I weighed daily at first so I could keep an eye on it, now I’m not too bothered as long as I’m in the same range so to speak…..well done on choosing 5:2….it’s a great way of eating and very doable way of losing weight

CG our rock, thank you for always being there for us and know that we are here for you…..those demons that you spoke about are gone forever! πŸ™‚

FOXY… MUM lives in Sydney So when your in town it would be great to meet. I’m otherwise 3hrs north of Sydney, 45 min from Taree on the mid nth coast. You are very welcome anytime! As for the new wardrobe .. Mum is very good on the sewing machine & overlocker. she made most of my dresses over the years… she is very clever. Mum has the same figure shape as me…A VOLUPTUOUS PEAR…..LOL

WECOME TO THE TEAM SWANY! your on your way already with FOXY & CG advice . Find what works with your life style & it’s is easy pezsy….. I promise you that.

Thanks for the tips Andrew… great post

I’m going in my pool its hot hot hot……..GO GAL

Hi all.. I am back…from holidays.. And2 kilos that I lost before Xmas is back on.. I am determined .. Just said no to the leftover xma pudding..!! Feeling strong ..!! I can do it..!! I know I can

Hi pree, welcome back not many of us didn’t gain over Xmas, back on deck Monday with your fast, it will be gone before you know it…. So easy to get back to tasty bad habits…. The last few day I have really craved and indulged in no no’s especially brie cheese.CG xxx

    Hi everyone
on day 3 fast for this week and still clearing out the excess.

JUST a REMINDER for ALL Starting back to fasting….Be gentle on yourselves when you start back ….

I am feeling very philosophical today so my apologies incase I run on too much…..

yorkygirl we are ALL here for you…IT WILL HAPPEN!!

I know how difficult it can be with family around and trying to fast….I have been lucky to get my mindset right with fasting on work days and now when my family tempt me with pizza etc I am able to either ignore or just say no. I have certain times of the day when I am more vulnerable and I try to be more aware of these so I can protect/distance myself. HEY we are only human after all…..

It does take time to retrain our minds…oneday you wake up to find that you are in control of what food you eat and not the other way round……

Our emotional responses have been with us for sometime and this can be hard to break…..but it can happen…for example this morning while fasting I got angry at something that someone had done who I wasn’t able to confront and my first (mind)reaction was to rush to a bakery and reward myself with a cream donut…..after a few minutes I calmed down and realized that I didnt need the donut just reassurance!

Have a great day everyone…we have AUSSIE DETERMINATION!!!THIS IS DOABLE!!!

Hi everyone, just got home from work. Boy there’s been a lot of action on the forum today. I hope you don’t mind if I don’t comment on everyone’s post, there are a lot of you. It suffices to say, for those in the fire danger areas please be safe, don’t take any chances. For those in the hot, I hope you kept your cool. Flemishcurves, so jealous of your snow. I tried another fast today B2B but turns out work had lemon & poppy seed cake and I told myself I could have some because I fasted so well yesterday. Maybe I’ll try a B2B some other time. Not too much damage though. Gradually we’ll get our AUSSIE DETERMINATION together and get into the groove.

    Ok I am home

Day of weigh in up 4kg yeeks in two weeks of holidaying. Too much food wine and snacking. Did 6 1 both weeks and exercised everyday but obviously the excesses are the culprit. Feel very bloated and can feel this weight on my body especially around the waist and rib area. Which tells me it’s alot of water retention.

So back to healthy eating today fast Monday and Thursday even though not back to work till next week. Back to my gym on Monday.

It will be interesting to see how quick this drops off.

Someone said its not what you eat between Christmas and new year that’s the problem. It’s what you eat between new year and Christmas that matters so I will hold onto that.

So 33kg to go this year.

    Bali

Bali definitely a saying worth remembering. You were doing so well, it will be gone before you know it, you are so dedicated, good luck.
Morning team, the relief is wonderful in the weather, doors and windows all open to freshen the house up. My mini fast yesterday ended at 646 cals I had quite a lot of zero coke with the heat, no alcohol, so happy with that effort. Like a lot of you, I’m struggling to get back on track, the urges for no no’s are so strong and oh how weak we can be, I stupidly bought more brie cheese the other day when shopping, WHY OH WHY? Too tempting when I open the fridge door and it “smiles and waves” at me, oh just a small chunk wont hurt, before I know it, half the small block is gone… Naughty me! πŸ™ so I was quite proud of my resolve yesterday, “normal” day today to make my fast count, then fasting tomorrow to start my regime again. Good luck team WE CAN DO IT we have done it so often it became second nature, the mind set is kicking in, our AUSSIE DETERMINATION is at the ready, the planning done for Monday, so AWAY WE GO…. CG xxxx πŸ˜€

Hi Bali, you’ll be fine with your AUSSIE DETERMINATION. CG we all fall the “just a small chunk” thinking. Don’t stress you’re doing so well with your resolve. I’m going to a set-menu (choice of 2 or 3 options) anniversary today but I’ve allowed for the lowest cal options and it’s a non-fast day, I should be fine. All best everyone.

@countrygal, probably the same stupid reason that I bought Blue Castello and Mersey Valley Ploughman’s. Sigh.

Yep … All hard learnt lessons πŸ˜† have a great day ….CG xx

Hi all .. did a sneaky weigh as I felt the bloaty… UP 2kgs….. WHAT THE!!!!. Its been so hot & humid here with very little breeze so hence no exercise for the last 3 days… even though drinking heaps well over 2 litres water. no junk food or vino!
May do my famous B2B today & tomorrow . My AUSSIE DETERMINATION will work for me.. I am going to spend some energy & conquer 3 baskets of ironing with the air con on.

Happy day all . Hope the SA team is safe…….GO GAL

Uptightoutasight I’m hearing you with the cheese. Yesterday I bought HOT CROSS BUNS for the kids of course and two of them found there way into me in the afternoon.

I think my News Years resolutions is to say NO – No thanks.

Thinking of my SA buddies especially as I am going on holiday there next week.

Hi team, me again, just had a slight revalation…. My physio told me to start using an exercise bike to help open a gap around my crushed nerve in the spine…..did that for a few minutes each day then lost interest, this morning instead of thinking of it as a “cure” I decided other than getting around my hobby farm I get no real exercise except general house work (which I’m not knocking) but unable to walk far as my leg get’s so numb and my back just screams.SO jumped on my exercise bike which cost me money and was gathering cobwebs out on the deck……..I started chanting to myself.. YOUR TOO FAT-YOUR TOO FAT-YOU BIG FAT SLOB -YOU BIG FAT SLOB- Your too fat-YOUR TOO FAT …etc “rode” for 7 minutes chanting (and laughing out loud) but actually did it πŸ˜† but above all enjoyed it, so hopefully this will become a daily ritual for me this year πŸ˜€ see you soon ….CG xxx

Hi All thanks for the encouragement. Hey I am going on an 11 night cruise in Feb should I fast while on holidays or just wait til I get home. I am doin mon and thrs. I leave on a Tues so can fat mon . I have worked out ythat Thurs and Mon are all shore days and we usually skip lunch or have a really late lunch when we gt back on he boat . ?.. So I am thinking I could have mayb 2 poached eggs no toast for breky, Then just have a salad and fish for t. I can go without grog on those days with no prob. Suggestions? What do you think? Thanks

GG it will be fluid, especially if you’re drinking OVER 2 litres, I was 83k last weigh in b/4 Xmas got up to 86.2 on last weigh in, this morning 83.3k so it does go when you’re back to your normal routines.
Swany, I know the cruise I went on, you could go up to the top deck for smorgasbord and chose your own food, very easy to do, I’d leave the toast out, maybe ask them to hard boil you a couple of eggs, they are very obliging, eat one and take the other with you, if you need the snack, your evening meal, just protein, fish or chicken, whatever with green salads, all so easy for you. Hope that helps.l
NOTE TO SELF… Stop buying treats that will cause anxiety! Buy only foods that are part of my 5:2 allowances.
Have a great day team, don’t be too hard on yourself, if a lesson is learnt it was worthwhile……CG xxxxx
