  • Hi team. Wellcome DRB. New members are always encouraged. I’m sure you will succeed if you stick with us.
CG I may have missed you but all the best for Tegan and her operation. It is going to be an anxious time for you all.
Well I’ve finally taken my head out of the sand and have a doctors appointment for this arvo re my crook knee. He will not doubt send me for an X-ray and then back to him. He will probably refer me to the orthopaedic surgeon depending on what the x-ray shows. All very truncated but that’s how our health system works.
FD here for me. I don’t know if any of you are familiar with Rooibos tea. It’s grown in South Africa and has zero calories. I enjoy it as it is refreshing, full of antioxidants and I’d doesn’t need milk. I’m having it now instead of my morning coffee on FD. We are in for a power outage as some maintance work needs to be done. Such a pest as we are on tank water and once the power is off we can’t use the pump to get water. I’ve a large water filter for drinking water so that’s OK. Have a full bucket next to the loo and also water in the sink and hand basin. We take all these things for granted don’t we. We do have an emergency generator but hubby is away and its downstairs in the garage and too heavy for me to move. It’s going to be hot here too so I’ve already made a salad with smoked salmon for lunch. Will have Miso soup for supper. Hopefully the power will be back on by then so I can zap it.
Enjoy your day team and remember – it’s just for today. Tomorrow is Friday.

Morning all. CG your car may be heavy this morning! as it carries the thoughts prayers and best wishes of the whole team with you. But……..it will make you fell lighter knowing that everyone is thinking of you and your GD. Yes do stay in touch but only when you can. You’re needed as the support person so go do that job that you do so well. {{{ }}} Safe travels with your boys.
Doggie I know the system is a slow truncated one as you say but I think it’s good that you’re heading in that direction. Well done on your planning around no water for today!
GG fantastic 1kg loss. Looks like summer is bringing it on already Wohoo!!

Whoops just looked at the time & realise I should be gone to work. POst again later. sj XX

Ahoy the mob! CG, Thinking of you as they operate on your granddaughter today. Think going shopping with your daughter is a good idea, get your Teagan a pretty bedjacket. Hope she’s actually out of surgery by now. {{{Hugs}}}.
Sorry I was MIA yesterday Everyone. The kids had only just left when my fav SIL turned up for a surprise overnite visit and I didn’t even get to turn the computer on until she left just now. Can’t complain, It was lovely to see them. So my Wednesday family history was another memory in the making.

Am still not up on all I missed (such a lot of activity!)but did see you accepted the 5kg challenge SJ. Hope it helps me knuckle down and finally get closer to the 70kg’s. I am seeing the scales still returning to the 86’s. After a whole week recently, of seeing 84’s. Drat! It has to be the lemonade shandies at the pub yesterday,(…..or the roast spuds)… One thing to be grateful for is the ability (now) to repair the gain with a couple of fasts, but will have to do better on PC days if I mam to get off this zig zag. (Baaad Zelda! Get back on that wagon!)

Most go read some missed posts and pray for enlightenment…XXgyps

Hi all. Having a good FD. Have been busy going to the doctor, hydrotherapy Pool,
X-Ray’s and chemist. Just home and it is now 4.28..lucky I took my eggs to town with me as I got Peckish around 3pm. Have got broken toe, swelling and bruising not going down so dr sent me for X-Ray’s of toes and while I was at it said I might as well get my Feet & hands done as they have boon sore of late…so off to the arthritis specialist I will go to see what is actually happening in this body of mine…doctor was vvveeerrryyyyy impressed with weight loss and asked me all the details of how I managed 5.2.. So I’m in the good books..Told him all about Aussie Determination..and all you wonderful souls. ???????…he was very impressed… thanks Girls

GG. Wow what a great result. Starting the downward trend again. Well done.????
It’s that time of the day on FD that temptation hits.. STAY STRONG.. WE CAN ALL DO THIS.???having fish for dinner! Yum..

Ah, GG, glad you got a post in, hope they fix your internet soon. Have received a notification re some interruption pending revamping they are planning in my district soon as well.

Sunshine, Maratus, well lost! that’s how it’s done, every centimetre counts, because they all add up to success in the end, and the object of this thread is to enjoy the process, not go at it all grim and deprived. Think ‘tortoise and hare’. Just plod on!

Welcome DR. Good decision. I can relate to giving up on wt loss programs, but this support thread makes all the difference. I have lost 10kg’s over 12 months. That was easy. am finding the next 10 more of a challenge, but many on here have proven it will happen if I stick with the basics. Just need to re-evaluate how far I have strayed from those on occasions. And butter cooked lamb and spuds for lunch, followed by rich pasta for tea and half a dozen lemonade/beer shandies in between, plus a bottle of red during, not forgetting forest cake for desert, is not ezzakly Portion Control!

Fortunately, it’s not moorish, either. I felt bloated and yucky by this a.m. Am grateful it’s receding as I fast . So one does get to see 5:2 as the ‘normal’ comfort zone and the splurges (we all have them) as sickly excesses. We pay for them, but at least they are no longer our NORMAL way of eating. That’s progress. This journey started for me as a New Year’s day resolution. I Can do it, Am doin’ it and will keep doin’ it. Thankyou UP!

PH, will definitely try your chicken thingy. 5 kgs by Xmas! Then RELEASE THE CRAIKEN! Haw!FIT, learn by my errors and DON’T do a Gypsy at the wedding or you’ll be in the same boat next weigh day! Best stick to a fluids only diet, mate. I’ll look forward to that sing along ,from a listener’s point of view. Unless I can come up with lyrics for you musicians to put to melody. (or someone gives me a melody to put words to). A reunion ditty? 5;2 Anthem? One line contributions, please ladies. Make your own rhyme. For eggsample: (to the tune of “the hills are alive with the sound of music…”)

I go to the scales when my seams are bursting
When my looking glass… prays it can’t be true(oooo)
My flab over flows with each pound of choooclet
    Now I neeeed… five twoooo….

Carry on, ladies….(PH, you get to add the cymbals… ) culture time…

Oh, and speaking of cultcha, I’m cut to the quick by youse literary snobs….

Gawd, Dawg, Barb Cartland was my preferred role model! After Georgette Heyer, of course. She was the queen of how one plays ladies and gentlemen. But Barb’s pink feathers were pure Dollywood! I take great umbridge at yore lack of respect!!

FFFit! For shame! Would ya kill Santa? Those classics were my tutors when I lived in a tent in the woods, before barbie dolls and PiNK were invented (red riding hood even!). I used to steal my older cousin’s love books (because I grew out of my brother’s Donald Duck and Dick Tracy comics around age seven)and they set the standard for all males to enter my world, from that point on. Needless to say I was often disappointed. However, a gentleman is a gentleman, I would accept no less and since their heroes were cloned on my dad, I still hold the authors of my bible in high esteem! Historical romance is my passion….. sigh…. would that I had the wordage… but, sadly, it comes out more in ‘hysterical fashion’….. oh well…. sob….there’s just no romantic purists left in this Sod ’em and Gomorragh. Oh dear, I feel quite faint… “Zelda! Quit smirking! You evil wretch! I will not abide your leanings t’ward murder and mayhem! Put that broom down and fetch my salts!”

Gypsy, I used to love my grandmother’s Mills and Boon when I was a teenager!

My uncle used to call them penny dreadfuls.

Agree, UP, they were innocent romance then (though quite smut rags now) they are indeed a dreadful price now, too! I do wish I could write one! And of course they are escapism from the reality of ‘bills and doom’, but isn’t that true of all fiction? That’s why I personally love fiction! One can have too much of reality. I’m quite done with it, myself. I have closed the text books. My brain is a dream catcher now. It’s called bloody useless old age by some, but my dad always said:

“There will be a time to dream when your work is done, lass. And the world you invent then may be of some practical use to someone, because it will be judged on whatever credibility you’ve earned in this world, not airy fairy daydreams.”

He was probably right, as usual. There are doers and dreamers and it is only when dreams meet practical application that they tend to come true. I can’t but wish I had studied literature instead of blood and gore, but at least I have loyalty to my mentors, namely Donald Duck, Dick Tracy and Heyer. And of course my greatest hero. A little late for family history day, but this is for all you Daddy’s girls:

    CROSS-EYED-JILL
    FROM
    NANNY GOAT HILL
    For Dad

The ragged child sits on the seat
Her tiny head bent in defeat
Her body shakes with silent sobs
As another blow a cruel hand lobs

Their sticks and stones didn’t break her bones
But their words will ever haunt me
“Cross-eyed Jill from Nanny Goat Hill
    She’s a dummy! She’s a dill!”
Their verbal taunts they screamed with glee
Til, in the end, the child must flee

    Today was just like yesterday
And all she’d wanted was to play!
She runs to arms so big and strong
The only place she can belong

And a heart is broken when it hears this plea:
“Oh, Daddy, Daddy! Set me free!
Make me blind so I can’t see
The way the world looks back at me…”

A father holds his baby tight
And curses them. “They have no right!
“My only daughter! Please, God!” he cried
“She is my Sun, my joy! My pride!

Her sweet and gentle natured face
Could never cause a man disgrace.
How can her worth to them be lost
Just because her eyes are crossed?

No school can teach her what I know
I’ll take her bush and let her grow
Among the creatures in the wild
And there no one will hurt my child!

Baby, baby, I’ll set you free
Then we’ll see what we shall see
I’ll teach you things like love and kindness
And we’ll forgive the world its blindness…”

The father’s words they came to pass
And now a woman stands, at last!
She learned things from her father’s knee
That made her strong – not one to flee!

He gave her strength to face her life
To kneel before the surgeon’s knife
Her eyes are now in their right place
To you she’s just another face

But she won’t forget when she was ‘Jill’
The cross-eyed kid from Nanny Goat Hill
She’s viewed the world and seen her fill
She’s no ‘dummy’ and she’s no ’dill’!

Yes! Daddy, Daddy, you set me free!
You taught me how things ought to be
And I’ll tell them, Daddy, just you wait and see
This cross-eyed world’s gunna’ hear from me!”

    MCB

CG, hope all is well. Thinking of you. Time for my boiled egg. Where did everyone go? xxgyps

Hi team, just a quicky, Teegz just in ICU, lot of pain till they rolled her a bit, Surgeon very happy with success of op, not a lot of blood loss, went to T12 have left lumber, ribs flattened out a bit, so a long night ahead for us. Just got pic of her with mask, ……quite teary, sorry, our baby is in pain,….I’ll catch up tomorrow xxxxxx

    Hi All!
Not fair, Gypsy, to write so beautifully and movingly and have me ‘crossed eyed’ with tears so that I can’t see the computer screen any more! <3 Children can be so cruel, but also need alot of guidance about how they view others and what they say. Parents who don’t challenge such attitudes and behaviours have alot to answer for. My heart aches for the young ‘Jill’ who was so wounded, but also thrilled that a hero came to the rescue and helped shape the wonderfully wise and eloquent bard we’re reading today. I hate most of the reality and so-called talent shows on tv now that seem to cash in on this idea of holding others up to ridicule, setting them at each other’s throats, exploiting them and being entertained by watching them fail – it’s setting us up for a future generation of cruelty, heartlessness and lack of empathy, very worrying. Ok, better get off my soapbox now!! I’m going to enjoy every bit of this wedding; music, dance, food and drink and general craic with all the family. Who said “Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we diet!”…that’s my mantra for the weekend!! 😉
Doggy – hope you get some answers and relief for your knee problem and that you’ll be in the best of form to do 5:2 and get out walking with Pepper very soon. Hope the water problem is sorted soon too; yes – we never appreciate the basics in life until they are taken from us! Xxx
PH – sorry to hear about your broken toe and other problems but delighted to hear the doctor was so impressed with your weight loss – woohoo!! 🙂
CG – been keeping you and yours in my thoughts and prayers…hope all went as well as possible and let the recovery begin with great improvements in store for your precious GD. Xxxxxxx
Hi to SJ, UP, GG, Sunny, Maratus, Change and all the regulars and newbies…..hope you are all having success and inspiration from this wol and this thread.
I’m doing another FD today (already did Sunday and Tuesday) – so my aussie determination is kicking a** this week for sure!! Thanks, guys, for keeping me on the right track and putting up with my ramblings!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

I have just sat here singing GYPY’S verse of 5:2 ot the “sound of music” much to my OH’s LOL at the lyrics! GOOD ONE GYPS…… love it ….will try to write more lyrics to add to it over the next months in time for the “WTF TOUR”.

I would love to join the 5 kilo challange loss to Christmas……. BRING IT ON!!!!
See you at the weigh in Wishing everyone luck on these scales….GO GALXXXXXXX

    Hey gyps,

Loved your lyrics and of course love the song…I too, like GG started singing it and could not get the tune out of my head..

What about this for a another verse?
Not up to your standard of course???
    Couldn’t help myself…?????

I look in the fridge ,when my tummy’s empty,
Hoping to see, yummy things in there. ????????
Alas just to see, not one thing temp…ting ⭕️⭕️⭕️
    And I fast… once …more..‼️‼️

And talking of fasting. Had another successful fast day so polishing halo again. ??? Now to see what the scales say tomorrow. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE WITH THE FRIDAY WEIGH-IN.. Let the 5kg challenge begin for anyone wanting to join……

CG. So pleased the op is over and was successful. Lots of love required now . Thinking of you (((?)))

    Nite nite all!

…cackle….Good one PH! Must keep a copy of each contribution. That’s two verses. Where’s yours, GG? does anyone know the melody beyond the chorus? I seem to recall it trips off into grand trills!

FIT you ol’ softie, thank you for your insights, I wrote that tear jerker about 30 years ago. It was sadder to look back on than it was for me to live through at the time. It got me the life of riley, mostly, wild and free in the bush. I had plenty of brothers and cousins, and often piccaninny’s, to play around the camps with. They considered my ‘evil eye’ sort of special. I could see just fine, one eye at a time, whichever way I looked the opposite eye would roll near back to front, showing only the white, pretty mad looking, to be sure.

But kids are resilient and I was a precocious brat who ,having figured out that people (strangers)thought I was retarded, took the mickey out of them something shocking! My Dad mostly had a hard time keeping a straight face, but he never protected them from me. If they were dumb enough to be had, or rude enough stare at me (or my mum) then they were fair game.

The hardest part came when my parents were told through the flying Doctor service, that a Dr Spiro had pioneered squint surgery and they decided to have my eyes fixed, with the help of the bush children’s health scheme. I was sent away to one of their homes in Redcliff (Brisbane area) It took 3 ops over 3 years (between age 7-10) and I was away from any family for over half a year each time. I had no one to see me through those ops or visit me. It was hard on my parents, too, I realised later, I don’t think I did at the time. It was pretty awful, but I’m grateful they did it now. The folks would be at a different dig site every time I returned. I became very independent very early in life (and that hasn’t changed!). I got my mother’s eyes fixed later in life when I became a nurse. These days it’s only a day procedure done by lazer. Whereas early surgery involved cutting and stitching eye muscles, weeks in bandages and then months of eye exercises, glasses and alternating eye patches. So no wonder I was Dad’s little pirate! I was a voracious reader, so that was my source of education. On my terms. It doesn’t surprise me that many kids are opting for a computer and home schooling these days. With the bullying that goes on in the school yards today, (onto the yanks gunning kids down) it’s a jungle far worse than my bush.

So that’s another FD done for me. Thinking of you and your little girl in ICU CG, (which is what dredged up all these memories for me). I can feel for her parents, too. It’s not easy to allow a child to suffer in order to give them the best chance in life, but she will thank you for it later. Try to get some rest. You’ll be needed in every direction for a while. hugs to you . nite all xx gyps

    My contribution verse:

    This way of life,
    Will change my shape.
    And I’ll be,
    Thin once more.
    …..GO GALxxx

    Verse 4 (ish)!!
‘To laugh like a brook as I trip and fall,
    Over kilos that I’ve dropped,
    To sing through the night,
    Like the Gyps,
    When her moonshine has popped!’

Well done PH and GG – we nearly have the complete anthem for the WTF tour….SJ, get practising on the keyboard!!! 😉

I’m well into the evening of my third fast this week and feeling good…..woohoo!

    Well done poets and lyricists!

I am singing Fit’s last verse right now because after so long of so so, I have finally dropped 700grams this week which means I have officially lost over 12 kilos!
Just goes to show what a week of actual normal eating can do!!

Gyps, so interesting. I went to a family funeral once years ago and there was a good collection of strabismus there along with all the corrected ones! One of my boys had the op at 8 months followed by years of patching etc as you mention. Fortunately, no teasing. We got him a black patch for pre school and made some skull and crossbones stickers. The first day he wore it, we arrived to pick him up to find many children wearing “eye patches” and the preschool had put sheets over the slippery dips etc to create a pirate ship. Such a wonderful thing!

But so great to hear that it is now just a laser. How amazing. Trying to get stuck on eye patches off a baby is no fun! Especially when it was so hard to get him to keep it on in the first place! I think mine was 3 months when we first started patching.

So stats. SW 76kgs, last week 64.4, this week 63.7. Have a good weekend all!

    Congrats, UP!! brilliant result….woohoo!! 🙂 🙂

Hello fellow ADs. CG if you are able to access this I do hope that Tegan is more comfortable now. I guess they don’t use ” Patient Controlled Analgesia “‘in one so young. I haven’t worked in the wards for years.
Gypsy I do apologise for getting you to take umbrage at my disparaging remarks re Barbs C. Whatever floats your boat as they say. I used to enjoy Georgette Heyer when I was younger. Love your poems. I used to work in a paediatric hospital. We used to do stacks of Strabismus surgery. Very successful they were too.
Too many long posts to answer individually. My doctors visit yesterday went pear shaped as due to the power outage I wasn’t able to open our roller door to the garage. It’s supposed to be able to operate manually but I could not manage it. Anyhow I have an appointment with a GP I like op on Tuesday. I was able to take the pooch out for a abbreviated walk this morning. Met up with a friend who’s also on the 5:2. I’ve also managed to potter round the garden and give my poor plants a drink after a horrible hot day here yesterday.
I didn’t do my stats today as I forgot. Will do them tomorrow.
Take care all and be kind to yourselves.

Well what a lot of lyric writers we have here. I have the whole score of Sound of Music (big book) – present from my mum and dad in my teens, so must look up the whole words & music to “our” song.
Well my FD went well until dinnertime. I had a real upset tummy/ache all day & spent most of the day sitting & reading. So no exercise & after dinner I caved in to comfort foods & ate first 1 then 3 more pieces of raisin toast, then a few more bits & pieces.
So of course the scales today said same…same, despite seeing 69 something twice during the week. So I’ll have a very controlled PC day today & officially weigh in tomorrow. Tummy is still iffy.
CG so glad to hear the op was a success & hope that the pain was controlled overnight for her. {{{ }}} for you stay strong for her & your daughter (maybe cry later). They need you right now.
Up great on your 700gr loss. I agree about what a week of normal summery eating can do for us – and bring it on I say. We’ve reverted to winter for a few days but it’s coming back.
Dawg how annoying about your roller door! Let’s hope it gets sorted next week. How great to have a friend who’s also doing 5:2. I’ve had several friends get excited & talk about starting or did start, but didn’t stay the distance. I guess I just don’t understand that as 5:2 is so easy to stick with.

Well better go as the tummy’s starting a mutiny again. Let’s hope it settles down so I can have a good day.

Can’t wait to see everyone’s results for weigh-in day today or tomorrow. The 5 kilo challenge is ON! BRING IT ON FOLKS!! No matter what we lose we’re all winners. suejen XXXX

Hi all. Lost another Kg. Wahoooooooo.. That is over two weeks this time as I did not have scales last Friday. I am stoked as I only had one FD the first week and was very naughty. So imagine it was no loss last week and the KG this week when I have been back on Track…sooooooo gooooood. I jut love this WOL. ?????????..you can eat it all and don’t feel deprived… Only 4 kgs to go….???

Where are you newby’s? Hopefully celebrating a successful week. Hope everyone else was happy with their loses. Or maintenance. UP & CG have already had success . We are all at different stages of the process and I still have a long way to go to catch up with most of you…but look out….I’m coming…???

Doggy. Sorry I missed you last time. I know just what it is like with the water preparation. Used to be like that on our little farm. Always had one tap in the tanks that did not rely on power to operate in case of sudden unexpected blackouts. Getting to find out what is happening with the knee is the way to go. Then you can at least decide what to do about..good luck..

I’m with you Fit.. Gyps does write beautifully and I get a lump in my throat sometimes. Gyps you and your parents have certainly had your challenges but the way these have been addressed and resolved is little short of amazing…hats off to your whole family. No wonder you are such an interesting, loveable character..???

Great result UP. You are certainly sticking to things now.. Well done????
Loved the story about the pirate eye patch and the preschool sheet episode. Great preschool.

I feel so good because the lady who cleans my house for me came today and all beds changes and everything sparkling. Getting visitors Monday and so has the studio behind the house cleaned also. ..now for the breezeway and celebrating at happy hour.
??I think scotch and cheese and blueberrys today! Yummm.

PH good on you!! I didn’t realise you only had 4 kilos to go – gosh you haven’t been with us long. You’ve lost it amazingly quickly. Well done!! How is your poor toe going – very sore no doubt? I’ve had 3 plasters in the last few years – stress fractures in both feet & 1 wrist broken, hence the osteoporosis diagnosis. Not a fun time so I sure know what walking with sore feet or toes is like. You’re doing very well to stay on track. Hats off to you (no pun intended of course!!). sj XXXX
Quiet place today I must say. We’re all busy having a PC day are we???

    Hi All!
Yes, very quiet thread today…..hope all well with everyone. If you’re a newbie, try to log on here more often, we love to hear from you all – it keeps us fresh and will help you to stay on track. Even if, or maybe, especially, if you’ve messed up! We’ve all done it and found the going hard at times, for one reason or another – so please check in and let us know how you’re getting on. My FD wasn’t quite as successful as I thought it would be when I took a sneaky look at the scales this morning – even though I fasted for a long time, my main meal was too large! Oh well, still better than a normal day or over-eating day (I’ve had too many of those in recent times).
Doggy – sorry to hear about the power outage causing you to miss the doc but well done for getting out and about as best you could. Hope you get some answers soon for your health issues, it really has been going on too long now ((( )))
SJ – poor you with tummy troubles. Never mind, your body decided it wanted some comfort and we all know 5:2 will have you back on track in no time – and at least, the scales said the same, not an increase! So glad to hear you have the music at the ready for the WTF anthem!!!! 😉 Hope you’re feeling better soon and that is was just a 24 hour tummy upset. Best of luck with the 5kg challenge – I’m too close to goal to lose that much but would love to lose about 2kg and keep it off, which seems to be the real struggle now, alot of yo-yoing going on all the time lately and it can get disheartening. But I’m going to take a leaf out of your book so….BRING IT ON! Take care xxx
PH – another kg, woohoo!! 🙂 You are powering through the losses, well done! How wonderful to have the house all clean and sparkling for your guests – it feels lovely too to have fresh bedding to slip into at night. Hope your poor toe is better soon. Enjoy the scotch etc; well-earned!! 🙂
CG – hope all is continuing to go in the right direction for your GD, D and family and that you are managing to relax yourself a little too after being a rock for everyone else xxxxxx
I have a busy day ahead to get chores done at home and for my sister before the wedding tomorrow. Also bringing her to get her hair done, the local hairdresser is so good to her and very understanding about her dementia. Then, I have to collect my hat which was accidentally sent to another lady…so hope I get it back in time!!! My daughter will be arriving from England on Sunday morning, unfortunately she will miss the wedding due to college drama assessment, but she’ll be there for the party the next day – which is often more fun for everyone because it’s more relaxed and less stressful! Have a terrific weekend y’all!!!

Hi again team and thanks so much for the warm welcome & helpful replies re fatigue. I am happy to report this has not been such an issue this week – some mild fatigue but not drop dead tired. I am coping ok on the fast days but finding myself quite hungry the day after … but trying not to binge! Fortunately that is easier at the moment while my husband is away with work (although not good that he is away) as I know I eat & certainly drink more when he is around!!!! Sorry I haven’t posted back sooner but was planning mainly to post on a Friday after I had done my measurements and entered them in the tracker tool. I am happy to report a 1cm loss to the thighs & 0.5cm at the waist. PH – I will try to check in more often!

Hi all, Congrats on all your awesome losses.
Have heard from CG …..Her GD has had a very good recovery. She was up for a short time today. CG and her family are doing well and looking after themselves.
Fit – have a wonderful time at the wedding and enjoy the fun and merriment with your daughter at the after party.
SJ- do hope that you are recovering….Stomach bugs are horrible… keep up the fluids to flush the system. Take carexxxx
    UP – loved your story.
PH- you go gal… you are doing sooooo well. You will have this challenge knocked over very soon.
Only slight movement on the scales today so 73.9kgs…. BRING IT ON. I have not been exercising …so will get back into that in the next 24hrs . I have a school reunion on the 31st October so need to be stunning for that.
Have a relaxing weekend…….GO GAL XXXXX

    Hello,
Sorry if I’m not posting every day, I’m pretty overwhelmed with coursework at the moment.
I had my second and final fast day this week today and I measure/weigh tomorrow (I did sneakily weigh this week because I’m impatient but tomorrow I’ll actually record it).
I really want to keep up fasting during the exam period to keep up the momentum for weight loss but it really is challenging when you’re sitting at home and hungry. I’ve been successful so far because I’ve been able to keep busy. So we’ll see.

Today I had a scrambled egg (100), some smoked salmon (80), a slice of roast beef (100), a cup of iced coffee (100), and an apple (80).

Does anyone else get unbelievably tired on their fast days? by about 9 o clock I can barely keep my eyes open..

Evening all. Another late post. I have been busy getting my van ready for a biker rally next week (Hooray! I don’t have to cart a tent and battery device for my breathing machine, in the sidecar!). It’s been some time since the leprechaun has been well enough to participate. But he is towing the van while I ride to the venue, a few hundred k’s North West, over the Tableland ranges. My big brother (a deep sea boatie) has been here helping to sort the conversion of the van to solar so we don’t have to run a genny overnite – and get lynched by a hundred or so bikers, for the noise factor.

It gets more complex to ‘go bush’ as one’s body faces metal fatigue, but where there’s a will there’s a way! And I have to admit that my family did corner the market on ingenuity. It’s always been ‘one for all and all for one’. Not one of them would think to tell me I’m perhaps too old to be going to a biker bash in the badlands, sans power. We are fundraising to provide motorised W’chairs for kids who can’t walk, so who cares how far out we have to go for the best result? It’s a great weekend. Hundreds of bikers with limited dunny’s, and creek ablutions. Lots of noise as tyre companies pay us to conduct burnout competitions. Local police even feel obliged to compete! ( I will send you pictures)

So my Gypsy van is now converted to silent nite mode. Now all I have to do is worry about corrupting my grandkids. I am riding escort/mentor to one with a bike learner’s licence. My intentions are to make sure he has such a bloody good time he won’t give up his Harley til his eyesight fails at ninety!…. pray for my morals, AD’ers. It’s certain no on else will get it!

I weighed in at 85.4 kgs. Not too bad. Hope it deteriorates.

GG, thanks for the glimpse of what’s on in Sydney. Am really keen to see (and taste)Chinatown,(what is yam cha?) Paddy’s market, and the Imax theatre sounds interesting. Would love to see a live show.

Dawg, all is forgiven. I write such suspect material it hardly qualifies me as a critical exspurt ( An ex spurt being: ‘an old drip under pressure’). I hope you get better support from the doc you like. Stick up for yourself!

PH, Hold that thought! I am looking forward to meeting a ‘shrinking’ sorta’ violet at the reunion! (ha,ha, ‘NOT’). May our second childhood be a trifle thinner! If there’s a cure to negative aging, I’m on it!

    Finally…..

AD’s ANTHEM – (so far) To the tune of “the hills are alive with the sound of music)

    (gypsy’s verse)
I go to the scales when my seams are bursting
When my looking glass… prays it can’t be true(oooo)
My flab over flows with each pound of choooclet
    Now I neeeed… five twoooo….

    (PH’s verse) …
I look in the fridge ,when my tummy’s empty,
Hoping to see, yummy things in there.
Alas just to see, not one thing temp…ting ️ ️ ️
    And I fast… once …more.. ️ ️

    (GO GAL xxx)

    This way of life,
    Will change my shape.
    And I’ll be,
    Thin once more.
    …..
    (Verse 4 (ish)!! FIT)

‘To laugh like a brook as I trip and fall,
    Over kilos that I’ve dropped,
    To sing through the night,
    Like the Gyps,
    When her moonshine has popped….

    (Haw! Haw! Luv it!)

…. at this point we need to fill in the blanks, adjust lyric to rhythm and conduct the finale. Since Madam Secretary is the conductor, I await some link to the score so we can collaborate on the lyrics. All input from the choir is welcome. We will be videoing this Anthem at the reunion. GG, you need to find a piano bar (or church with pipe organ)) where we can practice! SJ, you had better get yore ass booked for the show (since you are the pianist!). Does anyone yodel by any chance?

CG, how’s it going? STOP absorbing everybody’s pain and BREATHE. Pat your boys and look for the stars in between the city lights. Believe, and your guardians will deliver. The cards say your GD has mountains to conquer – and medals to collect. She’ll be right. Chip off the old block . xxx hugs to you. and nite to all, xx gyps

Hi Maratus I got really tired the day AFTER my first fast (and a stinking headache – and I drank lots of water, but it can be a side-effect of using ketone rather than glucose I believe). But the fatigue has been much more bearable – I’ve been able to push through & get a second wind, last week I had a nap!!!!!

Hope every-one has a great weekend! ‘night

UP, Interesting that we not only have the Bach connection, but cross-eyes in the mix. And it wouldn’t surprise me if your son had a unique view of the world. Is he the violinist?

Do you find that the afternoons are easier? somehow the mornings I feel the effects of low blood sugar, then I seem to be okay by about 2 or 3 o clock. Then I have another dip at about 9pm and all I want to do is sleep.

I’ve also just had a lightbulb moment with regards to fasting during exam periods. I could do 3x 1000 calories during that fortnight, instead of 2x 500 calories. The deficit would be the close – 3×800 = 2400 calories deficit vs 2x 1300 = 2600 calories.
    1000 calories would be do-able.
A vegetable omelette for breakfast (200), a salad with protein for lunch (300), snack (100), soup for dinner (300) and still have a bit left over.

Fit have a wonderful wedding bash. Luv your contributions to AD!
EmT great measurement loss…very encouraging isn’t it. And as to your headache that’s why I started the vegemite drink 1 tsp in hot water. I always used to get nasty headaches on FD and this cured it. It’s a lack of salt I gather. Try it it’s very nice. I have it now even though I don’t get the headaches any more…we;; rarely.
Maratus your fasting during exam plan sounds doable, though I’d prefer to see you having 1200 plus to keep up your energy & concentration levels. I know you’re keen to keep losing but maintaining during exams would be pretty spectacular too.
Gyps more exploits and in a VAN this time – going glamping are we!!! Yes please don’t forget the pics – we all luv’em! I’ll look out that score over the weekend & work on our song. May need to tweak it a little & as to the reunion, I’m just pinning my hopes on a darn good deal coming up on flights before then. Usually have them at the end of the year. Expensive from the west but so want to come. I’ll let you know as soon as it happens.
Thanks GG for the news. Great that CG’s GD is doing so well & up & about already – cannot believe it after such a huge op! How wonderful. Hugs CG for you and yours {{{{{ }}}}} and make sure you give yourself one too! suejen XXXX

EmT – glad to hear that you haven’t been as tired this week, I think it takes a bit of time for our bodies to realise we’re not going to die just because we’re fasting!!
GG – thanks for update from CG and for kind wishes re wedding….not that I need any encouragement to enjoy myself!! 😉 I’ll send you some photos to put up, if you don’t mind…that’s if they’re suitable for public consumption!!! 😆 You’re in the 73s, soon to see 72s…go gal!!!!
Maratus – don’t feel bad about not checking in when you’re busy, we just want to make sure you’re getting on ok. I agree with SJ that maintaining is a great result while exams are on, this way of life is very adaptable and an overall reduction in calories for the week will do you some good without making you feel too tired or unable to concentrate. Remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint. Best of luck with the exams and 5:2 will be there when they’re over.
Gyps – you certainly have the wandering spirit, never sit still for long! But, it’s all in a great cause and you must be the coolest gran on the the planet!!! Hope your leprechaun enjoys the trip too! Can’t wait to see the pics xxxx
SJ – thanks for nice words. Brilliant advice for everyone as usual. Really hope you get to make the reunion…they’ll need a musical director!! 🙂
I won’t get to post tomorrow as I’ll be busy making a disgrace of myself 😉 I might get to post on Sunday…if I’m able to see straight!!! Behave yourselves, gang….someone has to, but it won’t be me!!!!!!!!!

Good morning team, haven’t had time to catch up on posts yet. Teegz is doing as well as expected, don’t ya get to hate the term! She is able to control pain with self medicating, a magic button she has, and she is managing well. Most of yesterday, from what I can gather, was healing sleep, natural sleep. They did get her up to stand, only a very short time of course, and she is holding her own. Her Dad stayed the first night with her, my daughter came home, only one parent allowed to stay, and she went back first thing in the morning.but unsure who stayed last night still waiting to hear this mornings update. My daughter said it was cruel to see how broken up he was, she is certainly Daddys girl, so she felt it best he stayed. I’ve had Brody and spoiling him rotten, favourite foods and treats, yummy school lunch, including prawns and a boiled egg, plus money for a drink etc. I haven’t been fasting but burning oh so many cals Spring cleaning my Son’s “man cave” and really enjoying doing it, keeping my mind busy. I have been reorganising furniture as I clean, so hoping this reinvigourates his love of his home. We are all hoping to be allowed to go to the hospital soon, maybe Brody today, then Glenn and I tomorrow, I so want to put a kiss on her forhead, and see her for myself. My daughter is sending pics for us which has helped. Obviously all of this is uppermost in my thoughts so it’s pouring out here, I’ll catch up with you when I can, and when I know more. Take care team, reach out to your family, they are all we have and so very precious, as you are to them. Xxxxx

It has been exhausting here with the extremes in the weather from extreme heat to overcast and cold. We still haven’t had any rain since early last month. Everything is early with the tomatoes are flowering already. Normal years we would not get any until after Christmas but it will be good for the kitchen.

Still managed to lose 1.2 kg this week with some of my children trying to sabotage the plan. I have been expecting an easing but I am now just going with the flow. My son came home to store things and was nicely shocked by the weight loss. I got a good on you Mum which is high praise from him.

Hi all. Maratus & Em T. I don’t get tired on fast days, but used to get cold. Even in the summer. That has changed the longer I’ve been doing th FD. I think you will find that your body will adjust to the change. Don’t feel bad if you feel you need to go to bed early. Sleep is good for us , especially if we are trying to lose weight.
CG , glad that Tegan is recovering well. I hope you get to see her soon. You are certainly keeping your self busy.
I did my fist weigh in today since the B flu. I’ve gained 2 1/2 kilos. It could be worse so I’m not concerned.
Well my cute little pup is in huge disgrace. This morning he caught and killed a bird. I am quite horrified. I’ve never known a dog to do this before. That’s the reason I don’t have a cat here. We have so many lovely birds. I do hope it doesn’t become a habit.
Happy weekend all and congratulations to those of you who have lost weight. And to the rest of us- congratulations that we are still sticking to our Aussie Determination. I’ve got to be honest. I don’t like FDs at all but still do them religiously. It’s the only religious thing about me!
XX – might have to change my name from Doggy after this morning’s episode.

Suejen. Sorry to mislead you. The 4kgs is just for the Christmas challenge.. ???I have heaps more to go yet 15 kg or so to get to 87.. Just focusing on mini targets as the large one is overwhelming and I find by doing things a bit at a time it works better. So do 5 kgs at a time….
Great that you will be working on our song. Feel free to change anything in my verse to make it a better fit..so hope you make it to the reunion.
Toe improving slowly. Dr has not rung me about X-ray. So it must just be a broken toe and not further into my foot. Which is a blessing..

Fit. Have a blast at the wedding…hope you got your hat back!? ? ? Can’t wait for the photos and the report. Lovely to see your daughter , and for her to be able to enjoy the afterparty….? ? ? ? ? ?
Em T ..great news about your decreasing size. Feel free to check in whenever you like…everyone does things differently. Whatever works for you is what you should do. I just find checking in motivating.so that is what works for me. ???
GG. Thanks for the update on CG. Good news…great to have the motivation of a school reunion to aim for..Big effort for the coming week…YOU CAN DO IT and I’m sure you will look stunning for the reunion and will KNOCK EM DEAD? ? ?

Maratus. I got tired on my fast days in the beginning and must admit that my normal bed time is around 9.30 anyway so it did not matter so much. However with your studies it must be a problem for you. This will get better over time. Maybe you should add a piece of fruit in the mornings, say an apple. I find I have an apple as a snack around mid afternoon which is when I feel tired. Regarding the exams. Dont stress too much about trying to stick to the program through exams. You need all your energy to concentrate. You have done well working out your portions for your 1000cal days. If that works then do it but remember you only get one shot at exams and 5.2 is a way of life. Be kind to yourself???and dont stress. GOOD LUCK. And it’s the same for posting. This is all about you! ?PH

Gyps. I love the fact that you are still bush camping. I love that. I have held on to my old camper trailer so that I can still go bush. It is as old as the hills and needs a tarp over it but works like a treat for geriatric camping… It takes me to places the van won’t. Beside creeks with babbling water etc, we also have solar setup, just not the Harley’s!? ? ? (They don’t have a Harley pic, shame on them). I am sure you will teach your grandson well. Ha ha ha…

GG. I’m sure GD is in great hands. keep those positive vibes happening. Thoughts are with you.

GL502. Congratulations on your great loss? ? ? ?. Great stuff. Where abouts in this wonderful country do you live?

Having an early fast day for the week today as hubby is fasting for a colonoscopy so thought I’d join him. Bye for now…..

Morning ADER’S….So good to hear from you CG…..And thanking the stars that Teagan is gaining her strength each day.
GYPS- YAM CHA is a chinese tradition mainly late breakfast to lunch. It is a selection of glutenous rice damplings filled with prawns, pork beek squid and vegies in sauces. Trolleys of many different foods (not only damplings )are wheeled around to the customers and they choose from an array of chilli squid, goe gee, custard egg tarts (which are just delictable,) dim sim, and other tasty dishes there is so much to choose. they are small 5 to a plate BUT be warned are very filling and also healthy washed down with chamomile tea and other beaverages…SAV .The EMPOROR’S Bar-b-que is renowed for its PEKING DUCK and side dishes to accompany the duck >>>>A must have!
We are also a 10 min walk to the Sydney fish markets. The OAKS is close to many threatres that have live shows eg THE LYRIC at the casino and THE CAPITAL.As we have fully equipped kitchens in our apartments there maybe a night were we just buy FRESH produce that day and have dinner and a knees up in our apartment. YOU will all be surprised what is really outside our door. You will not be bored BUT exhusted each day!
AND of course we need to have an AGM at some stage of WTF TOUR!
I still am tried on FD’S If not working I run around like a chook keepinhg myself busy have a sleep in the arvo and then cannot sleep at night.
WELL DONE GL- what a wonderful compliment from your son . How is that smile on your face?
Enjoy your Saturday team….GO GAL XXXXXX

Puff puff, on the run with visitors again, will get to read posts later, only skimmed to see how CG’s GD is getting on. So relieved for you she’s been up and is being a brave little chicken. Smile granny, you’ll have her in your clucky clutches soooon. Can so hear the your mushy heart breaking over it. Cook and clean away, you are being of such service keeping their homefires burning. They will all be emotionally exhausted and may forget you are worrying about ALL of them, But they will always remember you made it all better just by being there. Hugs.

Encouragement to our new ADer’s, You are doing it!

Fit, Ace that wedding! Bet you a glamorous vision! Before and after piccies, please.

UP I forgot to congratulate you on busting your goal weight. Well done!

GG, am so loving the sound of Yam Cha! and believe I will enjhoy being in a big city for the first time in my life! Wish it was happening now!

Suejen, Just had to give you the update on the AD’s ANTHEM – in case you are doing the arrangement over w’end. we still need the chorus. check this one out:

ph, WE WILL HAVE TO TALK CAMPING POSSIBILITIES for future meets. An adventure tour would be much fun with you mob, and we do have bus tours that cater. heh, for that matter we have a bus driver (or 2)SJ! maybe we can hire a bus. Ha, Images of our glam girls doing a “queen of the desert” on the roof rack, come to mind.

PH, wishing good outcomes for hubby’s colonoscopy.

Have a good week end all xx Gyps

Thanks, Gypsy. Yes, it is that son!

Not much to report today. Congrats to GL.

Maratus, I don’t but my daughter gets tired on Fast Days.

Glad the news is good CG.

G’day all a bit late posting today. Had our best buddies from Perth come down & we went out to a winery for lunch, then to a cafe afterwards for coffee. Feeling very mellow & sleepy after 2 glasses+ of sav. Not sure….she kept filling my glass up & I didn’t complain or didn’t even notice! So started the day with just a coffee & will probably finish with just a HB egg to balance the day out.
Thanks Gyps will have a look & see how we fit with the music.
CG so good to hear that Teagan is being a real champ. She’s probably got her *%$$&# aussie determination from her gran no doubt! So glad she’s doing well CG & that you’ll see her in the flesh tomorrow.
GG you make Darling Harbour sound just wonderful.
Wow PH you have lost 4 out of the 5 kg challenge already….I don’t believe it!! What a champ!!
Oh Dawg I understand how you feel. We used to have a cat but after a few birds being caught we’ve only had dogs. Now that we’re on a bush block with lots of birds we certainly won’t have a cat but have considered a dog. Like you wouldn’t want it to be catching birds though as we have plenty in our yard. You may find Doggie that for a dog to catch a bird it was possibly already ill or old/frail as I can’t imagine a dog catching a bird otherwise. Hopefully a one off.
GL you are doing so well & still losing heaps. Excellent work!! Keep it up.

I’ll leave you with a picture of Fit dancing the night away to an irish jig in a beautiful dress with all her family. Oh what fun she must be having!!

Enjoy your weekend all & remember to post every day to encourage everyone, share your success, bemoan your failures or plateaus, and generally get to know everyone a little bit better. That makes the journey a whole lot easier & more enjoyable. sj XXX

Hi all – so many posts & so entertaining! I can’t keep up but enjoying them. 😉 Well done to everyone with losses – too many to name individually. My thoughts are with you CG – hope all continues to go well.

Maratus – just a quick note to say that I agree with others to be kind to yourself re fasting when doing exams. Focus on one challenge at a time!

Oh, and I am pretty sure I have read everything Georgette Heyer ever wrote …

Hi all. Well another FD successfully done and dusted today.?????. In sympathy with hubby. Going to the movies with friends tomorrow so he will have to suffer the 2nd day of preparation on his own….

Suejen. I’m sorry.. I am not so good explaining things. Where I am up to is that I decided last week that I would like to lose 5 Kgs before Christmas on top of what I have lost already. Challenged “me myself and I ” to a 5 Kg Christmas mini challenge, ?????? Friday weigh in showed a 1kg loss and so now still 4 to go before Christmas.. If I achieve that then I will have lost 10 kg from September till Christmas.and will be one happy little vegemite!!! ?????????
I will then be 97 kg with another 10 kgs to go to get to 87kgs, which is my goal weight. All up weight loss since start till now 6 kgs in 7 weeks. Sooo Stoked???

Nite nite everyone…sleep tite. Have a nice Sunday? ? ?

PH it was probably me I can be a bit dense at times….misinterpret things! So now I get where you’re coming from. You’ve still done very well so far & I reckon you might just reach your mini goal. I not Christmas it won’t be too long after. You should be stoked my dear especially after your dr’s comments too!!
EmT I read lots of Georgette Heyer in my day & plenty of Mills & Boon too. Escapism at its best. Don’t bother with them these days…..moved on I guess.
Gyps I’m reading a book at the moment that you’d love. It’s called “My grandmother sends her regards and apologises” & she reminds me of you. The girl’s grandma is a real hoot & gets brought home by the police etc. Great story so far.
Had a lovely lunch out with friends & a few glasses of sav but only had a coffee for brekky, & 2 HB eggs for dinner so maybe will balance out all that wine?!

Well think I’m ready for bed. By the way where is everyone today? Oh of course Fit is dancing her feet off at the wedding, CG is looking after family in her special way & who else is MIA. Never mind have a great weekend all & talk tomorrow. Of course when I post this it’s the middle of the night for most of you these days! suejen XXXX

Good morning team, I came home last night, nothing like home and your own bed. I was able to visit my GD yesterday, able to smother her is fairy kisses and able to just look at her. She is so Angelic, eyes very heavy, she has a lot of tubes still running from her, my tears flowed when I saw her, but I was smiling, she opened her eyes and smiled, reached for my hand and said, “don’t cry Nanny” I gave her a teddy bear which she hasn’t let go of, we’re never too old for a teddy. I had an hour or so with her, gave her parents time for a breather, to go outside together. All tubes out whilst I was there, meds will be oral now, trial and error, and cathater out this morning. Todays cantact was rough night, due to meds change over, but they hope to get her up sitting, she’s had a few assisted steps daily and loves the feeling of a straight back. She is such a little trooper ? Thank you all again for the kind words, this has filled my world for the last week and you have been so understanding.
So many post to try to catch up on, you all sound to be doing so well, and Gyps, your poetry is always well thought out ☺️ I haven’t fasted or eaten properly whilst away so hope to fast today to kick start my week. I have had heaps of cal burning exercise, cleaning, my Son’s home is gleeming and he is so grateful. My daughter took a pic of me with Teegz and oh boy, do I need to drop another 10k. I’ve been busy patting myself on the back with my losses, but my fat seems to have resettled in the wrong places, so my AUSSIE DETERMINATION is getting a kick up the A and I’m now on a mission. With my head in (almost) the right place now, there is no reason my so called plateau can’t be moved. With PC and lots of salads, with regular fasting, and drinking water, back to water aerobics, I’m on a roll! BRING IT ON ?
Have a lovely weekend team, enjoy your endevours and make each post a winner. xxxxx

CG wonderful that you got to see your GD and cover her with fairy kisses through the tears. I bet she’ll be holding on to that teddy bear for quite a while yet!! Wishing her all the best for her recovery & life with a straight back, plus a gradual easing of the pain for her. They get them up & about so quickly these days I find it amazing. She will work through the pain if she’s such a little trooper & won’t let it stop her doing exercise & whatever else to get her 100% fit.
And you’re home already so enjoy the day in your lovely place with your boys. Hope it’s a sunny day for you too? Kick back after all that work & worry & have a ME day CG. I bet you need it! sj XX
Takes one darn photo to bring us back to earth doesn’t it? Mine was a couple of photos from Vietnam where I thought I was looking pretty good at 12 kilos less. But the photos said to me Keep going girl…..you’re not there yet! So onward & downward eh?!

Agree totally suejen, I just realised I’m 76k this morning and look like Up did in her BEFORE photo!!!! Shock horror!! I think that was her weight then, so, if that’s what it takes for a personal shake up…..a photo of now…….it’s worked ? I have lost heaps, but this journey ain’t over yet so BRING IT ON I CAN DO THIS and WILL ? xxxxxx

Hi everyone. CG I’m so pleased that Tegan is getting on so well. As you would know, once catheter and other tubes, drains etc are out its a good sign. I’m with you as far as sleeping in ones own bed.
PH I think your idea of mini goals is very good philosophy. 5 kilos at a time is very achievable. I’d like to lose 3 kilos by Christams and then another two by February. Now that I’m into my summer clothes I still don’t like looking in the mirror. All those midsection bulges – eek. !
Well more pandemonium here this morning. My little horror exhumed the corpse of the poor dead bird and brought it into the house. He ran through every room with the B thing all covered in dirt. After I eventually chased him outside I spent the next hour vacuuming up all the mess. Guess the only positive thing is that I burned up a good few calories in the process. Yes SJ you are provably right. The bird was possible old or I’ll but still I felt so bad about it. We also, have a flock of large black cockatoos in the area. I’d like to see him have a go at one of them. They have beaks that could open a tin can.
Enjoy the day team. FD again tomorrow. They do seem to come around quickly.

Morning. (although it’s nearly lunchtime here). Great news re your GD’s progress, CG. The young heal fast so it’s a good thing well done of all of you. Glad you made it home and all went well. Have to agree with you re thye fat resettling. I too am seeing a creep on. I just don’t seem to be able to get back to the basics. Am fasting okay, but it’s barely maintaining. I knoooow it’s the drinkies and grazing, I just have to make it stop. I think it’s being housebound that’s the trouble. I do get on the exercise bike and do the weights and crunchies, but canned exercise never seems to do much when one then turns to the computer and sits for hours. Am hoping my camping trip will give me a kick start. I saw 87 flash this morning, EEEK! But then I went and ate THREE poached eggs on thickly buttered toast! Nuts! I have been slaving in the garden for a couple of hours to try to balance that lot!

Obviously this is a mid goal plateau and I sat on 86-7 kgs for 10yrs or so before zooming up 10kgs. I’ve lost that, but my bod seems highly resistant to going down further. 76kgs is my goal wt. I was pretty happy at that wt. and size 12. So I’m with you on digging up the D factor, CG, and you too, suejen, We have to pathfind this blockage for others to follow. What’s the plan, boss?

Dawg, Ooo! Naughty pup! I can imagine you chasing Pepper around the furniture! Some breeds just have it in them to hunt and, bless their socks, their aim is to please! by bringing their treasures to their human. Gotta’ luv ’em, warts and all, but it is a problem when they hunt birds. Agree they don’t catch many air born species, but if they get a taste for our feathered friends they often move on to the neighbour’s chooks! (if applicable to your district) I have a farmer friend who uses a low charge cattle prod as a counter measure if any of his dogs show bird hunting or other undesirable tendencies (like chasing horses instead of rounding up cattle) a zap through their rump associates the offence with the bosses displeasure! A bit drastic for a house pet. Maybe the puppy training school you took him to have some deterrent methods? Luck

EmT, another historical romantic! and was that SJ ,too. I think we all read Heyer in her era. It was a complex, but quite charming introduction to the battle of the sexes. Can’t help thinking it was a cut above unisex bathrooms and kickboxing!

Have to go work off some lard. have a nice Sunday all. Are you in the throes of a hangover out there Fit? Mwaaa! har, har! try a hair of the dog! xxxgyps

Gyps, you asked about my plan, well, I know everyone has 5k goals…..mine is 1K at a time again, that’s how I started, just 1 more K and it does become addictive, it’s like banking the fat! Other than that, I have really become more conscious of what goes in the gob again. No one loves butter more than me, but had none on my corn thins for lunch with tuna and beetroot, and really, didn’t even miss it, but my body missed OUT on the extra cals ? so again, one simple step at a time. I did go back to a few old habits, bikkies with my supper coffee….NO MORE! Less whiskey with my zero, mmmm, but I CAN DO IT ? or WILL do it, just bit by bit….. Have a happy day xxxx

Hi everyone, I hail from New South Wales and am doing my fast days on Tuesdays and Fridays. My method of coping on fast days is to have only tea and coffee with a dash of milk until about noon. Then I have a very small lunch. I keep busy all afternoon and survive on cups of green tea. My main meal is about 6 pm. The mantra that keeps me going is “I can eat normally tomorrow”. That’s not an excuse to binge either and I have been able to eat moderately on non fast days. So far, after five fast days, I have lost 1.4 kg. My goal is to get to 55 kg. I am a 67 year old female, 154 cm tall and presently I weigh 62 kg. Noots48

    Hi Em T,
I also am a Georgette Heyer fan! I was introduced to her work many years ago when I saw that my piano teacher had a collection. I was 11 at the time and it took a few more years before I started buying my own copies. My favourite would be These Old Shades but I must admit I love most of them. Also, they are easy to read and re-read and very relaxing.

Hi noots and welcome to AUSSIE DETERMINATION we are a great support group and you sound to have your plan well in hand. If any question come up please ask and we will help. The site is pretty quiet today but most do log in daily, as it’s the support that keeps you going ? we look forward to hearing your progress. cg xxxx
