  • Good morning team, HAPPY FAST DAY, very cold here in the South so plenty of warm soups, teas coffee and meals. Not always the easiest time to fast but YOU CAN DO IT 🙂 it is only one day and think of the benefits. Think positive and it WILL happen. Our marathon is ongoing, often losing and picking up the same few kilos, but warmer weather around the corner, summer foods and outdoor activities the losses will be more than the gains 🙂 Have a lovely day team, “what goes in the gob, will stay on the bod!” Xxxxx

Hello fellow ADs. CG sorry that you are doing it tough again. Let’s hope that it’s soon a thing of the past. Yes it’s cold here too. Hubby and I braved the elements and took Pepper for a long walk this morning. There was, still is, a howling gale blowing and it was not pleasant. We did feel slightly sanctimonious afterwards as we didn’t meet another soul.
Yes it’s not easy fasting when it’s so cold but I’m going to give it my best shot. I found a low calorie Miso soup recipe that I’m going to have for lunch plus as a hot drink mid arvo. Allowing for 1 mug hot Jarrah choc drink will keep me just slightly under 500 calories.
Yes Gypsy Pepper is a Poodle and he’s certainly hyperactive. However Poodles actually originate in Germany so Google tells me. This is the first small dog we’ve had for decades and his temperament is very different from our many Golden Retrievers. He’s wormed his way into our hearts though so he’s here to stay.

Hi team, just back from the doctor who alleviated all my fears in taking a specific drug for the nerve pain in my leg, so I’m back on them, feeling positive now, so a new day is dawning for me (again) and this time hopefully pain free. A little bit of knowledge can be dangerous so through my tears saw the light with him and WILL follow his instructions! 🙂
One thing I wanted to pass on is the differences in milk for fast days. Soy or Almond ot Rice? all very low cal if you find it hard going without it in your teas or coffees. 🙂 I would think maybe they take time to adapt to but anything is possible 🙂
If you have any hints to pass on, please do so for our new members as well as us “oldies” who can always learn! LaZuppa soup for lunch for me soon then steamed fish for dinner with either vegs or ratatouille 🙂 oh the choices we have on 5:2 is endless, so no need to starve, just be cautious, read labels, and experiment 🙂 xxxxxxxx

Timely reminder, Boss. And ta, GG, I’ll bet back on the hoss! True, life feels like ploughing through mud atm. but this is when we plod on. ‘When the going gets tough, the tough get going’……etc.

You shouldn’t still be in that much pain, CG. And that’s flat. You need answers from your surgeon. Odds are he’s either nicked or pinched something and it requires more than your perseverance to fix it. I can go along with the neuropathy symptoms, they do take time to settle, but if your knee is giving way, that’s more than peripheral nerve involvement. And whatever it is it needs acknowledging. remember the squeaky hinge. sorry for you.

PS. just posted this in time to read your last post CG. And see that you may be the short circiuter yourself if you stopped taking the anti spasmodics. Agreed they are high powered drugs, but do work for this sort of thing. I had to take them for a bout a year. And , yes, without them I was in real pain. So sorry to be a scaremonger (with the above) but let’s hope the right pills do the trick. They should, or the above does apply. luck love, xx

Thanks Gyps, but everything I have read on the “spine health” web says this is normal for quite some time. Physio starts tomorrow so I’ll see how I go with that, also my Dr seems to think it is still sciatica nerve pain, he had the same thing. I think my tears with him today was self pity and being hard on myself wanting to get into things. Both he and his nurse said its still only 7 weeks and still heeling. I do over do things when up to it and need to gauge when enough is enough. Whinge whinge……I know it all takes time but I’m impatient and like he said being on my own makes it harder……..One day at a time I guess like everything, and I am noticing improvements.
Glad you back on the “hoss” we will have you under that 80 k by xmas 🙂 just. Stick with us kid! Xxxxxxx

Hi all, another quick post – sorry. Just remembered to post the chicken and almond recipe that I made last week. Misread my cal count scribble and should have given it 236 cals plus 36 for the chopped almonds. My bad. That brings it up to 272. YY xx

Yy great recipe, thank you for sharing 🙂 xxxxxx

Good morning team. WHERE IS EVERYONE!? How did your fasting day go. Even with the cold weather I found it easy enough. Thursday seems to be the difficult one for me. Now is the time to put in the background effort, be it exercise, looking up recipes, cooking up a storm of meals to freeze in portions. Learn to experiment with foods, try new “stuff” things you read about in recipes but haven’t yet tasted 🙂 Life can be fun, it can be full of new things, even simple things like a new flavoured tea 🙂 Never think of yourself as being on a diet, because you aren’t! This IS our way of life, our way of eating 🙂 even if you do LCHF on non fasting days, or paleo, it’s totally up to you, but normal healthy fresh foods are always your best option. Above all, it does not have to be expensive, you don’t need to buy in things to follow the basic plan. Just check out what’s in the fridge, freezer or pantry, it’s all there, with a bit of thought you can come up with great ideas. 🙂 Have a happy positive day team, be yourself, don’t be swayed by others, you are your own person, you are unique 🙂 xxxxxxxx

Morning All I’m home! Lovely holiday but glad to be back home. The weather is Vietnam was so hot and humid that it was quite oppressive. We knew it was likely to be but I guess didn’t realise how energy sapping that is! By about half way through we got a little smarter & returned to our hotel for a shower and a siesta each day (or whenever we could). Another time we would get hotels with a pool!
Anyway how is everyone and more importantly where is everyone???! I have come back after enjoying lots of yummy vietnamese food weighing in at 73.2 – about an extra 3 kg, much what I expected. So onto a FD today and may do 3 this week. Or I’ll log all my foods for a week or 2 and keep the cals real low till I’m back to where I was. Won’t put up with it for too long. It’s amazing how much bigger you feel with just an extra 3kg – and yet it’s nowhere near the extra 12 I was carrying before. No way I want to go back to that again!
The clothes that I had made in Hoi An will probably need to be taken in eventually (well the 2 dresses I can easily do myself straight down the sides but not the pants). Fit I liked your suggestion of getting the clothes made when I first arrived, however ….we didn’t hit the town reputed for all its tailors until the end of the trip – bummer.
I haven’t even attempted to read back through the posts yet but will look back later on tonight. CG I know that you’re still battling pain but hope that the meds you’ve gone back onto will alleviate it to a great degree – and that physio will help too. I got quite stiff and sore from travelling so booked a massage half way through. I’d read that vietnamese massage was pretty soft so I booked a thai massage which she said Quite strong lady, quite strong. Boy……..was it ever!!! I was a bit worried about my bones as I have osteoporosis but it actually was wonderful after 2/3 days. In fact I haven’t been as comfortable in years. Freed up my hips especially & made all our walking much more comfortable.
I do hope everybody has been doing well & some losses have been recorded. I’ll post more replies to posts later. Have a great day everyone. suejen XXX

Suejen WELCOME BACK we have missed your daily post. The trip sounds wonderful but humidity is a killer, even trying to do your hair is a waste of time 🙁 but the sites and atmosphere you experienced makes it well worth it. Your right, the physio was brilliant this morning, told me the op WAS a success, she can see just the way I walk and stand but all the leg pain will go eventually and needs strengthening with exercise as the nerves had been crushed and are still growing back. So, I finally have exercises to do to help as well as follow up appointments with her….and yes, the meds are definitely helping….so no more fears of them, what’s it matter how long I’m on them either, the are not as dangerous as I first thought and proper weaning when the time comes will solve my problems. She also gave me can do’s and can’t do’s which I’m so happy about 🙂
On the way home I called into Safeway for more coffee beans and found teas on special so bought 6 different flavours all @ $1 each BUT walked through the bakery section grrrr and bought a bag of grain rolls yuuummm! So one for lunch later with a cup of new tea. Happy day team, feel positive, you are irreplaceable:) xxxxxxx

CG that all sounds so positive for you – how wonderful. You really needed that positive message & sounds like you have a great physio with ongoing treatment. Fabulous!! And so good to have a straightforward, clear list of can’s and cant’s. Just what you want….someone on the practical side of life who is very patient focussed.
Ooh like the sound of your 6 flavours of teas & even better that they were only $1. Sounds like a yummy lunch coming up – grain rolls are fine CG, healthy grains/carbs. About to head to my next HB egg & then lots of teas like you. XXX

Sorry I have been MIA, but just managed to log in now (not being able to log on from work computer is a definite annoyance!!) glad to hear you are getting better CG and Aldi that you are back SJ 🙂

Lotus, wondered where you were, we seem to have lost a few people….maybe away or too busy??? If YOU are out there lurking and need help, assurance or encouragement join us, you never feel alone when joining a group of like minded people who love to share hints and ideas plus a shoulder when needed….CG xxxxxx

Sorry CG!! Just got really really busy that’s all… Not lurking even so I have not been able to read past posts (apologies and big hello to y’all) .
Weight zigzag – doing the 71.8-72.5 dance past couple weeks… But I have a feeling it will move downwards soon 🙂

    HI all!!!

Lovely to see you back Suejen – you have been missed!

Good to see a few silver linings showing through CG, you are always in my thoughts.

Well, nearly finished the week of cat sitting, three lovely cats – and I am head of heels in love with a hugh lump of a mackerel tabby – took him two days to start coming to bed, and only another to take over – he too is madly in love, with a red rathre furry dressing gown.

The weather has been glorious – well, sunshine every day and a couple of days it has hit the seventies, low seventies but that’s a heatwave here – 21 degrees.

So, instead of working, and because I think son has scuppered the hopes of a holiday next month, we have taken time off and wined and dined. Travelled to Drumnadrochit – where the Loch Ness Monster resides, blummin’ heck, it took longer to get there from here than from home, yet we are about halfway there. OH has been enjoying the crazy winding roads, and we had even been able to go topless – in the car, that is, we ain’t that crazy!

Of course, one cat went missing for a day, a wee bit of trauma to ensure we haven’t relaxed too much.

Back home tomorrow night, 3 or 4 lbs heavier, so feeling quite desperate for a fast day on Thursday – one last bottle of wine tonight, though I might just leave it unopened, can’t take my drink so much these days.

We did get some work done, though it was a trial to get everything into the tiny boot – trying now to figure out how to get the big cat in there too, it will be a bit of a squeeze but I’ve already told the owner he may not be here when she gets back!

Gained pounds will soon be lost Milena, but time spent will not come back, so it’s great to hear you had a good time! 🙂

Morning team, well where is the support? We need each other! I know you all understand the basics of 5:2 but no one is an island and can manage alone! Is posting on a regular badis such an effort? Our 5:2 is our way of life and as in life we like to “go it alone” only to find we DO need support and run home when times get tough. Come on team, show your support.
The weather seems to ge trying very hard to show its Spring influence, the sun is shining, although still quite crisp in the mornings. It bechons us out to participate in the wonders of nature 🙂 so go out and enjoy, you will be looking for lighter clothes before too long and wanting to show the “new you” to the world, as well as feeling the difference. Aussie Determination is our behind the scene back up we all need to keep going, the encouragement and support of like minded people who listen to you, who understand what issues you face 🙂
The power of positive thinking will take you anywhere so head up team, YOU CAN DO IT, keep the faith 🙂 the effort is so well worth it….happy day to you all 🙂 xxxxxxx

    Hi all. Sorry, CG!

I started to write something yesterday but my internet was misbehaving so gave up. Good to hear from Milena and Sue Jen.

Not much from my end. I am fine with the food, fasted on Monday and am bringing the second one forward to today due to something on tomorrow.
I think I am plateauing a bit. I have had too much drinking lately for it to be classified as “normal eating” so perhaps it is incorrect to say I am plateauing, more that I am consuming too much although the eating side of things is fine.

I think I must make myself sound like some kind of almost alcoholic on here. Not the case at all however, I need to be more disciplined if I am going to continue to progress.

CG, the jasmine is flowering here. Always a sign of good things to come!
    Have a good day all.

You don’t sound like an alcoholic Upt, it’s just part of our life. With the finer weather coming it becomes a bigger part of our life with socialising too 🙂 …5:2 is always in the background and can fit into any schedule even just half a day is worthwhile 🙂 our basics are always with us, so don’t panic, this way of life will look after you with rewards 🙂 ….happy day xxxxx

Oh and my jasmine is in full bud too, I adore it, even in the house, it looks quite “arty” in the right vase. I once had it take over a full fence in an earlier home so this time have two potted with a tall stake in the middle and it looks so pretty as a standard 🙂 and doesn’t go feral being in pots xxxxx

Morning Team how is everyone. I’m so pleased to report my happiness with 5:2. With one FD 2kg of the 3 that I gained have been kicked to the kerb – how good is that! So probably a lot of it was fluid retention……know that I get a lot of swelling with flying, even with proper stockings on. So another FD should have me almost back to where I was. Fantastic.
Up & CG your jasmine sounds lovely. We came back to the purple hardenbergia all over our back patio in full flower – just beautiful, and yes a sign that spring is on the way.
Ha Milena you’re into cat stealing now are you?! You mightn’t like the cat in your car though if you’re driving topless – could be painful! Sounds like you’ve had fun though.
YY must look up that chicken & almond recipe as I love that for dinner & such low cals.
Gyps gather that you’re going through some tough stuff so thinking of you & the leprechaun. {{{ }}} Fast when you can dear, otherwise just plough through the mud.
Hi to Dawg Lotus & anyone I’ve missed on other pages. Have a great day all and think of that slimmer bod you’re going to put into spring/summer clothes soon! suejen XXXX

Hello team. Suegen nice to have you back and glad you enjoyed your holidays. CG I’m pleased that the physio was helpful. Hmm it does sound like Sciatic pain which is just awful.
I didn’t get round to posting yesterday as I was somehow too busy.
Well another FD tomorrow. I found some ready made Miso at the supermarket. I’m not sure of the calories as the print was too small but it’s sure to be low cal. I’ve another homemade soup in the freezer. It has shiitake mushrooms and low cal noodles. It’s actually quite filling.
    Cheers and take care.

Hi team, I received an email relating to the three week diet saying it was from Aussie Determination. My ipad would NOT open the site saying in was not trusted….please be warned!

Yep CG I went to have a squiz too but page wouldn’t open. Hope it didn’t download anything onto my computer! Darn sneaky people.
Doggie do you have a recipe for your soup? If it’s filling that sounds good. XX

Gedday the mob! nice to see a better turn up. good to hear from you suejen, Up, Milena, Lotus, yummy and Dawg. All on he same page. You rouse good CG! glad you’re getting somewhere with the physio. It took me a while to reconcile to the need for certain drugs at that time too (Nurses can be difficult patients). but they worked in the end. and targeted exercises do too. strengthening support muscles is mega.

My garden is also blooming, lovely. I keep everything to pots, so I can shift them in flood time. All getting a bit strenuous, but been a lifesaver for keeping the leprechaun occupied while we wait, apparently forever! But today is supposedly the defining ‘meeting’ for decision making (PA hosp Brisbsane). So anytime now we should be updated by phone re next steps, if any. I’m happy that he is not going visibly downhill. So alleviating his worry is key. With luck we can start planning at least one trip before the summer sets in. Hoping to make that a road trip towing the van through the Flinders ranges for the wild flower season (October?). And on to Adelaide to check out my migrating Grandkids. Sad there’s no positive progress for my friend’s hubby. I will probably be erratic with posting for a while. But will try. Enjoy what you can while you can. Cheers! Gyps

Hi team! My work computer still “does not trust” this thread – site comes up ok but not this thread, and our work IT team can’t help as it’s not work related… So my posting is erratic. Not that I dont want to post, but sometimes life and technology get in the way 🙂
Anyway, Go Gal and I had a nice lunch today. She is well (looks fantastic!! And youthful!!) and we had great fun as we shared stories on 5:2 and life in general. We took a photo but have not able to upload it yet. Will do it soon (hopefully this evening )

Best of luck for OH, Gypsy dear xxxx

Lotus great news, so glad you both met up, wish I was with you both 🙂
Gyps. Fingers crossed for the results, whatever they are, plan your trip, it sounds magical and one you will remember fondly. Oh the watering you must have with pots, but, sounds a great idea with floods, unless you can have stands build to accommodate higher gound? Guess it’s all been tried though, I know the few I have in pots relies on God for watering most of the time 🙁 but somehow survived and are “dry” friendly 🙂 your leprechaun is so fortunate to have you, at time you may not feel it, but he would be so lost without you reving up the situation with positive thinking and attitude 🙂
Made a lovely stirfry for lunch today, unintentionally, a bunch of asparagus, sprinkled with olive oil in a large pan with 1/3 rd block of tofu diced, cooked till tofu is getting some colour, drizzle with a tablespoon honey and squeeze of a whole lemon, I added 1/3 cup of water then put the lid on to finish steaming the asparagus, when close to finished, sprinkles sesame seeds over it with seasoned garlic salt…and 2 handfuls of baby spinach 🙂 ……very tasty, just for one, and very filling….unsure of cals but would be pretty low,
Enjoy the evening team, are you planning and prepared for tomorrow’s fast? 🙂 xxxxxxx

That’s sounds yummy! Will try over the weekend

It was Lotus, just made it up as I went along but really enjoyed it 🙂 xxxxx cause I love asparagus xxxxx

Morning all. This WOL does like to trick me sometimes!
Just when I am making speeches about having too much alcohol on NF days and plateaus etc, resigning myself to my fate, I go and lose weight!

The second fast was yesterday, and today I am at a new low of 64.6. And that is with a cheat G and T on Monday night at the ACO concert my son was in!

I had decided life is too short to deny myself such a small pleasure especially when all dressed up and being a proud mother. Like many people here, I am always one of those! We had arrived quite early. We did show some restraint by not accepting an invitation to join the orchestra for drinks after the show!

Off to book club today, hopefully won’t undo too much of the good work. Have a good fast day all. Hopefully my success will inspire you all to be determined today! Of course, I know you don’t need it. We are good at this!

Hello team from a sorry for herself Dawg. I’ve come down with the B flu. I Was fine yesterday but by mid arvo was crook. So I’m not fasting today.
Suegen I’ll look up the recipe and put it on our thread. CG thanks for warning re this site. For a few days my iPad did not want to log on but since the latest software update it seems OK again.
Lotus it’s great that you and Go Gal had lunch yesterday. It’s great to get together with like minded people and share ones ups and downs.
Gypsy I too confine myself to pots. I used to be a mad keen gardener and could work in it all day if I was able to. Due to the annoying aches and pains of various body parts due to my age I’m no longer able to do so. I generally just have native shrubs and trees in the garden and use the pots, containers on the veranda for annuals, herbs etc. I’m just about to plant out some Pansy seeds. I love their pretty faces when they are in flower.
OK must get back back to the tissues.!
    Dawg

Poor Doggie, it’s awfully miserable when the flu hits. Lots of rest and fluids, good book or movie and treat YOU as number one 🙂
Upt, what great results, I’m chasing the same kilo, up one day down the next! Hopefully the pool walking might help.
Well another fast day has arrived, you all know the drill, we are here for each other, so if the going gets tough, let us know and there are plenty willing to give the ol’ foot in the right place! 🙂
Have a great day team, weather picking up which helps the mood….xxxxxx

Hi again. Thanks CG I’m going to pamper myself today. Luckily made an extra plate of dinner for hubby last night so I’ve no chores that need doing.
I’ve just posted the recipe for Miso soup on our recipe thread.
    XX Dawg sniff sniff

Oh Dawg that’s no good. Some me time coming up for you and hope OH looks after you well. No fasts for you till you’re up to it. As to gardens yes we have native trees and shrubs and I just love pansies too….got that from my mum.
Up great results for you my dear. Maybe you will be my inspiration to see 69 something again! FD today again so let’s see what we end up with after one week back from hols. It’s been a breeze getting bsck into it which is great.
Have a planned prepared persistent fast day all and reap the rewards. Suejen xxxx

Well, I’ve blown it already, custard tart (oh so fresh) a friend called in………but had black tea with it, so was good there! So today will add up to 622 being an omelette for dinner and the tuna salad I just had. Not too bad over all, MFP tells me I have burnt 754 cals but I don’t take any notice of that (although I do hope one cancels the other out 🙂 ) Anyway, glorious day to be out, just mowed with my ride on, first time since op, 15 min breaks as ordered by physio but loved every minute, feel like I’m getting my life back 🙂 Happy day team to you all xxxxxxx

Did you enjoy every mouthful of that custard tart CG? Good…then forget about it. And you cals are way lower than a normal day too. So great you’re able to get out on your ride on, that’s fabulous for you – and especially when it was a lovely day! wOOHOO for you CG!! Now just make sure that you follow all of the physios do’s and don’ts, and stick with your meds and you’ll be fine. XXXX
Getting your life back is just huge!!

Suejen, I feel fantastic, pretty tender but was before I started mowing, maybe the pool exercises, who knows, or just the heeling soreness, but it was magic on the mower, I just love being out there .my whole persona feels renewed 🙂 The sun is shining and my garden is alive with birds, I didn’t want it to end. But back in now, ready for a nanny nap 🙂 and thank for the reassurance with the custard tart a favourite indulgence and enjoyed the company …….. Xxxxxxx 🙂

    Take it easy, Doggy.
CG, glad you are feeling bright! I love custard tarts although I haven’t had one for years. At the end of my first pregnancy I craved them every day, and usually ate them. Yum!
    Great to hear, SJ!

Well I spoke too soon folks about getting back into FD’s being easy. I trashed my day by buying a pack of chips at the supermarket – and not a teeny one either, a mid-size one. I just couldn’t say No for some reason even though I knew it was going to wreck my FD of course. Said to myself that I’d have half or some such nonsense but who ever does that really?! Anyway rest of day has been fine just won’t be a good total but not going to work it out. Let’s just finish today & move onto tomorrow.
Maybe not having access to a supermarket for 2 weeks had something to do with it – didn’t see one anywhere in Vietnam, they all shop at the markets & cook. I sorta went mad…..I bought a packet pizza (good one) which I never do, plus a pack of pies for watching the footy where usually I’d make some. I’m so against processed foods normally. Who knows?? Whatever it was I hope it’s firmly out of my system now!!
    suejen XXXX

Suejen I totally understand, it tends to be an inside rebellion especially on fast days! No one likes to be told what to do, yet on NFD, the thought doesn’t enter your mind 🙂 we are only human, Don’t beat yourself up, you have done so well. I’m craving nibbles tonight for some reason, just made a coffee and the bannanas in the fruit bowl just looked so damned good, really considered having one then gave myself a talking to…..tomorrow isn’t far away 🙂 xxxxx

I finally got time to post. It’s been a long day and fasting didn’t come easily, but I’m on track (only 360 cals so far) but I am sooo going to hav a sav tomorrow! So is the leprechaun I expect. the verdict is in and it’s as I expected, his liver is stable and no malignant acceleration of his ‘spots’ at this point.(so it’s still watch and wait – that’s success and worth all the sacrifices in my opinion).

Yay! for dietry management! His gardening has been great exercise and the fresh veg and lifestyle changes makes a difference.(We have raised garden beds for vegies CG, only my flowers are in pots) his diabetes is under control and he’s lost weight healthily. No booze is the main event,(and the loss of social life) but it’s a bit more relaxed with the hammer lifted. He headed straight for the pub when the phone call came and I don’t blame him. (we only live across the road from the local and That’s been hard for him). I really don’t know what’s next, but I’m grateful for today. Thanks to all for agonizing through with me.

Sorry you’re crook Dawg, take care. UP, You’re allowed to be a proud mum, Kids don’t raise themselves and the learning stages of violin take some surviving, Take a bow yourself! I’d of had champagne.

Cg, mowing! indeed, things are looking up!

So lotus and GG are in Sydney? Is FB there too? Good onya!

Suejen, I’m laughing at your antics, and I knooooow how good those bananas look, I have a ripe bunch in my garden, just taunting me. Fruit salad tomorrow…. with cream…. maybe even icecream…. and a lamb roast with all the trimmings… a bottle of wine by the fire… and all’s well with my world. I will lose the lard… anything’s possible. nite all xx Gyps

Oh Gypsy, I’m so pleased for you both, it must seem like breathing space for you. Each day is a blessing so get out and enjoy. Now you can start planing that trip with enthusiasm 🙂 I’m honestly happy for you both.
Happy Friday team, how did you go yesterday? If the scales don’t smile as you expected, be proud of what you HAVE done. You are still better off than before 5;2 , nature is taking its course in its own time and with your help with the right eating, results will happen 🙂
Have a positive day team, be yourself, you are unique let others be inspired by you instead of visa versa, be proud of yourself and all you do and be happy, misery is contagious so spread the love 🙂 xxxxxxx

Thanks CG, great, isn’t it? I’m pretty proud of all of us, actually. especially you!

Mmm, nice day here, and breakfast was wonderful! Poached egg on sourdough with home grown baby spinach, tomato , shallots and avocado slices, oh, and a sprinkle of mixed sesame and chia seeds. along with green tea and a squeeze of bush lemon. Gad, I was so hungry I forgot to weigh myself first! But I pulled up at 85.2 with my full belly and winter clothes, So stripped to the chassi I expect the TARE wt (Total Awful Reality -ERK!)is in the high 84’s.

So I’m still maintaining close to my 10 kilo loss since Jan (8months now!)I have not been doing other than activity based exercise around house and garden, so all in all, I think I’ve survived the winter quite well. Have to say that putting that wt back on would have been the last straw, so I’m delighted. And it’s Friday! Roll on 5 O’clock!

Hello everyone. I’m still feeling crook so not bothering with counting calories till I’m better.
Gypsy I’m happy for you. I don’t blame OH heading straight to the pub. CG I can just imagine you enjoying your mower ride. It was a glorious day here too with lots of spring flowers and their heady perfume. I see from the synoptic chart that we have a good chance of rain coming both to Gyppsland and Tassie. I hope we get some useful downpours.
Suejen, I see that Kate Morton has a new book out. I’m waiting for it to come out in the audio version.
Milena I’ve just had a chuckle at your cat stories. I love cats too but wouldn’t get one here as we have so many birds. Many of them ground feeders too. Pepper tries hard to catch them. I swear they tease him as they seem to wait till the last minute and then do a vertical takeoff. It’s quite amusing to watch.
    Enjoy your day team.

Since using this program I have been able to lose weight. Other ones have had limited success having come down from over 120 kgs in the last 10 years. Due to family situations it had started to creep up again. At the start of the year I was 89 kgs. I lost nearly 10 kgs to April but things happened from Mid April to July where I completely stopped. Going back since second week of August fallen off now down to 76.5 which is the lightest I have been for years.

Another benefit is that I find that crosswords and mind games are easier. (I have always found them hard but trying to keep the mind active.) With the weather changing hopefully will be able to get outside more often. The daffodils and manchurian pears are flowering. It just lifts the spirits.

Congrats GL on your excellent weight loss with 5:2. I mean you’ve lost over 1/3 of your body weight! What’s your goal weight now?
Gyps wonderful news for you & the Leprachaun – hope he triply enjoyed his beer at the pub over the road. Sounds like you’ve really overhauled both your diets Gyps and I loved the sound of your brekky – so healthy and yummo. Enjoy your lamb roast & a bottle of wine by the fire – sounds heavenly. Times like this I wish we hadn’t taken out our potbelly heater & put in an airconditioner, but OH just couldn’t manage the wood any longer. Love sitting around a fire. Wow full steam ahead into trip planning now eh ?!
Doggie I’ll have to look for that Kate Morton book – order it if I have to. Do you like the audio books? I like the process of reading…and going back & re-reading at times so don’t think I’d enjoy it? Finding favourite bits & savouring the words. Do hope you’re over the flu soon.
Well my day of rebellion yesterday gave me my just desserts so to speak. I’m up .2kg. So Gyps I’m not laughing at my antics now! I followed up the pack of chips with quite a bit more…once I’d opened the floodgates it was basically anything goes!!! Oh well learnt my lesson with that one & will knuckle down next week & be serious about 5:2. Looking back I think my biggest mistake was not using MFP as I always have done on FD’s. It allowed me to just ignore the amount of calories I was consuming, whereas MFP usually pulls you up & you say Wow Really THAT many calories…not eating that! It’s a great tool for us.
Have a great day all. suejen XXX

I still have more than 20 kilos to lose. I just do it in lots of 10 kgs so that my mind can catch up as I have a lot of people trying to sabotage my efforts. When I am under stress then I eat anything. Hopefully all those pressures from the past year are over. My aim was just 1kg per month but fully following 5:2 again it is falling off, but it will slow down so I am enjoying my newer shape. Even putting back 1 kg I can now feel it and really monitor what I eat.

Hi GL and welcome to our wonderful group of friends. Out team will inspire you with support and encouragement, you have done so well so far and we are all in it with you. There is always negative influences around us, but this is how most of us find our thread so helpful with like minded people to pull you back in shape and showing you how to ignore those unwanted issues and people in our heads 🙂 With 5;2 we have taught ourselves to put ME first! You are doing 5:2 for yourself, not others, not fashion, not to prove anything to anyone but for YOU. YOU ARE NOT ALONE when you are with Aussie Determination, and we will take you by the hand all the way 🙂
You are already seeing and feeling the benefits with this way of eat and this way of life, so stick with us as we will be here for you
Busy morning for me, pool, chiro, shopping, then homecare came, and my window cleaner…..hopefully for the last time, that is one chore I hate paying megga bucks for!
So should to up to doing it myself again when next due 🙂 Well dropped that damn K again, back to 76.1 this morning, gotta get to my plateaue weight of 75.0 then down another 5K hopefully by Xmas now I’m starting to get the movement 🙂 Another compliment this morning from the Chiro’s receptionist telling me I’m fading away! I only saw her last week! Golly, it must depend on our clothing (track suit….straight from the pool) or our hair do or something? I haven’t lost anything for months being sedate in movement, BUT INTEND TO now things are getting back to normal 🙂 I also think the colours we wear make a difference, I was all in navy blue 🙂
Have a lovely evening team, oh something I must share:

    Now and then it’s good,
To pause in our pursuit of happiness
    To Just to BE happy
    🙂 xxxxxxx

GL, did I read that right? You are 76k and want to lose another 20k….how tall are you? I am not here to judge, the team will all tell you that, and as you know the closer to your goal the slower the loss becomes but if your body IS carrying 20K over your suggested weight, you will have no problems. I wish you luck, post with us daily with your journey because support is always here for you 🙂 CG xxxx
