  • Day 4 Akron OH, NFD. Two successful FD so far this week and CD on the NFD, although I did have pizza and a strawberita on Wednesday which was my indulgence for the week and boy did it show up on the scale this morning! I found it takes a couple days for overindulgences to show up on the scale. I think I will go back to weighing in once a week after my B2B FD on the weekend.
    I am thinking of changing things up next week. We will see how it goes, sustainability that’s what I am trying to achieve here. Have a great FD or NFD everyone!

    Day 4…..Florida…….FD

    First morning of my staycation. I got sleep in, enjoying the sounds of the morning while enjoying my coffee. The OH is working on my YS car. As I write this, I have to wonder if the OH is ever going to sit during our time together. He’s a total busy body, always having to do something. I really think it’s because he has a desk job.

    Yesterday I was extremely bad with my food choices and I open the cage door of my dragon. So, even though I’m home today, I’m gonna try really hard to make it a FD. Just going to have really buckle down and just do it.

    @metatauta……I’m a dentist fan either. First like you I do not numb easily, on top of that I’m clostraphobic. I know I spelled that wrong. So, having a dentist not only in mouth but hovering over freaks me out. So, knowing this my dentist always prescribes me a nice little pill that makes the worst of it go away. At least, I can lay there with out knocking him out every time he get close.

    I want to take the time to welcome all our new souls to our WOL. Please if you have question ask them, there are plenty of caring souls on this forum you’ll get the answers you need and more.

    Well….. I’m off…. seriously considering testing the skirt out again. I really, really, really want to wear it!

    I was addicted to the hokey pokey then I turned myself around!

    Day 4 NFD aiming for control over the weekend , me too @missybear 🍻

    Day 4 – London – NFD

    Afternoon all, and thanks for the welcome. Very proud of myself for sticking to yesterday’s FD despite having lunch (I usually have breakfast and dinner on FD) – ate nothing at all after 4pm and did my 3 mile walk to the station in 40 mins, faster than I’ve managed before. Not bad, when the tube takes 20!

    I find my Thursday FD much the hardest. Sitting in an office, I’m craving nibbles all day. I try to clear them out or lock them away on Wednesday evening, but even if they’re not there, I just think about them all day. So I thought having lunch might work best for me – but I think really it was reading all your supportive posts that got me through yesterday and made me keep thinking I can do this.

    Back up 1lb on the scales this morning. Looking forward to celebrating OH’s return this weekend, and trying to be careful today in preparation. But there are brownies around…

    Good luck to everyone fasting today.

    Day 4, Rocky Mountains, US, FD 800 cals

    Started 1st August before I found this forum. 2 FD so far this week, Tuesday and Thursday. That works for me so I will probably stick at that. It hasn’t been as hard as I thought – no headaches, just a little rumbly tummy at times. I calculated my daily calorie intake as 2700 so am allowing myself 700 Kcals on FDs – a little over generous but I had to start somewhere. I have 3 meals thorughout the day and I have found my concencetration levels drop if I don’t. I already seem to have lost 1.5kg but we’ll see in a few days time – I don’t want to normal daily fluctutations in weight to make me too optimistic. I have a long way to go needing to drop from 18st to at least 14st to get back into the normal weight bracket. Good luck everyone.

    Day 4 USA-WA NFD
    Another hazy day. We have smoke from 5 different forest fires blanketing our area- two that are more local, three further away but the jet stream is pulling the smoke in. It’s really nasty and tough for those with asthma (not me, but many of my students). It’s also wheat harvesting time here, so lots of dust from that. Because I have epilepsy, I walk a lot and don’t drive, so today is going to be rough, because I have a lot of walking to do to get where I need to be and the air quality makes that a challenge, even with healthy lungs. It does make me want to keep my eating clean, to keep my body as healthy as possible, knowing that just breathing well is a challenge on a day like this!

    successful two FD this week. still eating home-made, natural, non-processed food with no sugar (allowed some chips in the bean and beef dinner!).
    losing a couple pounds already with the addiction of fast days.
    NEW: I have a generalized ache in the stomach for a day and a half since my second FD ended. Gas/flatulence but not as regular bowel movements. Feel anorexic for breakfast. I’m going to try some fiber supplement today. Fasting is confusing my gut. I do eat high-fiber foods (all-natural) and drink lots of water.

    Chicago, Illinois USA

    Day 1 – NFD
    Day 2 – NFD
    Day 3 – NFD
    Day 4 – FD

    You found us then @Chitowngal!

    Day 4 – USA (Illinois) – NFD

    Woke up to 55′ here in northern Illinois! Wow… what a change in the weather with the front that came through. Really makes me feel like fall will be upon us in earnest soon.

    Also woke up to 157# on my scale even after a NFD when I went out to dinner, well-seasoned salmon over fresh vegetables and lovely glass of Chardonnay.

    Off to my Silver Sneakers exercise class. Will try to read up on posts later.

    Onward and downward!

    Day 4 – SW WA USA – FD

    Adding myself to today’s pocket fasters: Day 4

    @at
    @keetseel
    @ducks_d
    @strawberriesandcream
    @annemarilyn

    @maayyaa – welcome, you almost got your 1st post right as @coda mentioned. The day is always the day on the calendar. I love seeing people’s geographic location on this global forum

    @Mogoman – Happy Birthday! Have a super day!

    @krisnia – yes, the air quality is an issue here in the SW of WA as well. A really dense haze now for a couple of days. Some of ours, we’ve been told is even coming down from Canada in addition to fires east of us. Keep safe!

    @utahcougar – Are you drinking enough water on your FDs? That’s really essential. Different folks do different things such as an apple at lunch I believe is what @songbirdme does to help the gut. Depending on what you’re eating, you will need the bathroom less, for example a ketogenic (low carb, mod protein, healthy fat) style.

    Thanks @maayaa and @Imrenfrey (sp). Good to know that it shouldn’t make any difference. I’ll keep going on those days then and if it looks like it’s causing problems then at least I’ve got something I can tweak.

    Day 4 – East Orange, NJ – FD

    Thank you so much for the warm welcome! So far so good but it’s early in the day. 🙂 Enjoy your day, Everyone!

    FD number 3 today. UK – Oxford.

    Hey all

    Will be weighing in tomorrow to see if I’ve reached my pre best- friends-wedding goal of 10 pounds.

    It would be nice, I won’t lie.

    Last chance saloon too as due to “have the decorators in” next week so can forget it weighing in wise!

    Wish me luck!

    Day 4 Massachusetts USA NFD It’s my birthday but I don’t intend to go wild. I am having a piece of pizza with beer for lunch. Then a Greek restaurant for dinner. I love Moussaka!

    Day 4, NFD

    Someone brought into donuts into the office. I walked past them so many times and consciously rejected them, thinking how many calories they have and that really, I don’t like the taste of them enough to ‘waste’ those calories. Then I just walked past them and without thinking grabbed one. Arghh!! Mindfulness, Penz, mindfulness!!!

    Day 4 California USA NFD

    10th day of. 138/62-something plateau. And yesterday was a FD! I do feel like my body is holding on to water today, that slight puffy feeling in the fingers, etc. I could do a 3rd FD today, but not sure I’m up for it. Perhaps I’ll just be especially vigilant in my food choices.

    @tea-girl20 – What is it about Thursday FD? I always find them harder than Mondays too. Drinking lots of liquids helps with the cravings. Hot or iced mint tea is one that seems to help me.

    @songbirdme – Could you send that 55 degrees out to California? We’re “only” supposed to get up to around 90 today. I guess after a week of around 100, I should be thankful…

    Have a great day, everyone!

    Day 4 – USA – FD

    Second post: @mogaman, happy, happy birthday!!! @sirisan, @lumat, @maayyaa, @fatrabbit, hooray for all of you! @Strawberriesandcream, so glad to hear your dad’s finally moving into his new digs. @xrox, feel better, cyber (((hugs))). @bert1802, I feel ya about wanting to smack that dentist silly, lol! @krisnia, hope your weather clears up, take care!

    Day 4 – Cumbria UK – FD

    Lovely 6+km/4mile walk this morning with my usual Friday group and no rain!

    Made a lime cake with lime butter cream filling for a friend this afternoon for her coffee morning tomorrow – first attempt hope it tastes OK!!

    @kokua12 – when struggling on a FD it definitely does help to log on here and read some posts……
    @belmc and @amella46 – great start to your 5:2 WOL!
    @lindasue – you have been busy but such a good feeling when it’s done – planks are not harmful if done properly but it’s important not to overdo it – nothing longer than 2mins on elbow or high plank, the different variations are what make the difference after that!
    @yvyj13 @maayyaa @trefonwys – Welcome – it’s never too late to join – lots of friendly folk here
    @sirisan – I still cannot do a proper “Chaturanga Dandasana” I have to go on my knees as in the modified version of the Surya Namaskar but one day I will get there………did not know what a “Turkish get up” was – had to look it up – very impressive!
    @mogaman – Wishing you a very Happy Birthday 🎂🥂
    @lyonlottie – I agree that’s it’s so strange that you go to bed hungry but wake up with no hunger
    @lmrenfrey – the more the merrier in our Plank Challenge – each working to their own target for the month!
    @bigviking – I too love Tex Mex food! so I totally understand……..
    @Strawberriesandcream – must be such a good feeling to get your Dad into his new place at last and as he will be so close to you it will give you peace of mind too
    @twinmam – half a stone in 5 weeks – great job!
    @coda – a drop for you this week 💃
    @bert1802 – enjoy your staycation – hope you are going strong with your FD today – I last ate at 8pm yesterday and have yet to break my fast apart from a little bit of skimmed milk in my 2 cups of tea and I will be having a glass of my homemade Kefir this evening to help me get a good night’s sleep I hope!
    @tea-girl20 – have a good weekend with your OH and hope you can stay mindful too
    @penz – I feel for you – amazing how we go on autopilot sometimes…….as you say mindfulness!!!

    🍷 Pocket winos 🍷- this is my second week of no alcohol Monday to Friday but I have to admit that I am looking forward to enjoying a couple of glasses tomorrow night!

    “ONLY I CAN CHANGE MY LIFE. NO ONE CAN DO IT FOR ME” Carol Burnett – so sit back and focus on all that is positive, beautiful and wonderful in your life and have a great weekend!

    Day 4 NFD St Louis USA
    weight 132.8

    Happy birthday Mogaman! @songbirdme 55° sounds delightful but I won’t complain as we are having a lovely morning with no humidity here in St. Louis. Always a little cooler up north.

    Welcome to the new comers. I have been so pleased to have found this site and always feel welcome and supported. You will too.

    Off to my kettle bell class today before I head out for vacation with my family. Next will be the first week that I haven’t done my three day fast since I started with the first challenge March 1 of this year. I have lost almost the full 16 pounds (my goal) although my weight has fluctuated just a bit, a couple of pounds. Thought I was on maintenance but want to wait now until I am stable at 132 pounds.

    All my best to all of you.

    Day 4 – FIN – NFD

    Just finished dinner and still below TDEE. I’m contemplating on whether or not to have something sweet as dessert. I’m still a little behind in my fibers (22/25 g), so it’s likely going to be a fruit of some sort.

    Plank challenge, today’s dose:

    60 sec high plank / 30 sec elbow plank / 30 sec right foot raised / 30 sec left foot raised / 30 sec side plank left side / 30 sec side plank right side / 30 sec high plank / 60 sec elbow plank

    I incorporated this into my morning yoga routine and I must say, I feel like I struggled a lot more (especially the last minute was a real challenge) today compared to yesterday when I dived in cold turkey. I also did my best to focus on keeping a good form.

    @at – Thank you for the tip – adding time to each hold sounds like a good idea. I’ll see how to go about it in the upcoming weeks.

    @belmc – If my old health education books are anything to go by, the minimum recommendation is 1.5 l water (or liquids) + the 1 l you get from solid foods on a normal day (so that could mean 2.5 l on a fast day). I tend to strive for higher amounts as I’ve understood it can have some health benefits.
    //edit: our national Food Safety Authority says the following:
    “Your need of liquids is individual. It is influenced by such factors as your level of physical activity, the ambient temperature and your age. Most people get enough liquids if they drink when thirsty. The reference intake of all beverages is 1-1.5 litres a day, in addition to liquids contained in foods.”

    @berries63 – If I’ve understood correctly, Dr Mosley originally recommended non-consecutive fast days, but even B2B (back to back) fasts seem to work for many. You’re also free to move around the fasts each week to where they fit your schedule.

    Day 4 – Co Meath, Ireland – NFD
    August Goal: 149 lbs
    Current Weight: 154.7

    Successful 18:6 today. I find as soon as I start eating that my stomach starts rumbling….all quiet for the 18 hours beforehand. Is that normal?

    I have to work tomorrow so an early night tonight. But I am really really REALLY looking forward to that first glass of wine when I get home tomorrow. I have already told DH that he will have to be my “garçon” and keep my glass filled 🍷🍷🍷👸

    I have lost half a stone in two weeks on this WOE 😄. Fantastic. Nearly in the 10 stone bracket now too.

    Day 4 UK FD

    FD going well. Broke fast with 2 scrambled eggs on brown toast. First food in 24 hours so a definate fast! Lunch provided at work today and body swerved the cocolate cookies, chocolate cake and very high calorie sandwiches. Just muttered that I’d have something later then didn’t! Looking forward to the weekend and the first white wine in almost 2 weeks!
    Good luck to all fasters as the first week is almost over….
    We can definately do this!!

    Day 4 – McMinnville Oregon USA – NFD
    Day 3 – NFD
    Yesterday required a drive into Portland and eating out. I didn’t do a very good job as I was over my TDEE. Arrived back home to find the AC unit had died. Of course it would wait until a heat wave to give out. Someone coming today to is what the problem is.
    This evening we go out to dinner with my sister to celebrate her birthday, so another indulgence. I plan on fasting up until dinner and then being careful how I order.
    I will do a test plank to see if I can do one. I had rotator cuff surgery last year so it will be a first since surgery. I was up to 2 min. before my arm went wonky.

    @coda – Thank you for the metal, what a treat!! 🏅🌺

    @twinmam – Thank you for the  “I’ll start again on Monday!” story. I will keep it in mind as I place my dinner order tonight.

    @brightonbelle – Good job on the choice of tonic water. 👍😇

    @mogaman – Happy Birthday 🎈🌸

    @Strawberriesandcream – So glad to hear your dad is finally able to move into his new home!!

    @krisnia & @kokua12 @annemarilyn – My dear neighbors, our air is so smoky with forest fires. Hang in there and try to stay cool.

    @at – You’ve been doing supper 🍷

    Day 4, London, UK, NFD

    Very late check-in today, hope we’re all doing well?? Completed my B2B2B yesterday, being busy helps sooooooo much!!!

    @debster251, I remember you and I shared a wine gum incident a few months back!!!! Luckily I’ve been unable to find the wine gum sours (and I HAVE been looking!!) that had me scoffing entire bags in one sitting…… thank goodness I’m not a Randoms kind of girl!!!!!

    @daffodil2010, that tummy rumble is unlovingly referred to as ‘waking the dragon’, for me I can happily go 20hrs on water (min 3L/day) and herbal tea, but as soon as I eat anything the dragon wakes up and roars for more, More, MORE!!!!!! The later the breaking of the fast the better, breakfast at 4pm is a fantastic thing!!!!!

    Good luck everyone, we HAVE got this!!!!!

    @mogaman – happy birthday to YOU! (I’m singing it to you…) ♫♪♫

    Day 4, California. Hi all! So far this is my first fast day of the Aug. Challenge. My attempts earlier this week I gave in to hunger pangs, but today had a salad with a few jumbo prawns. All low carb, low cal.
    so I’m halfway there. I’m planning a simple meal this evening: eggs and the rest of the salad. I’m finding all your words encouraging.

    Day 4 – UAE – NFD

    Today was my weigh in day: 79.3kg, lost 0.3kg since August 1st. Not too bad for 3 days. Tomorrow I will start 3 b2b fasting.

    Day 4 ( think, I get confused with the posts from other parts of the world 🙂 )
    NFD for me, heading into a long weekend in our part of the world!
    Cheers

    DAY 5 QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA NFD
    Good morning all…well morning here anyhow! Out last night for a delicious dinner with friends. Wasn’t as controlled with the wine as I should have been but sure did enjoy it after being AF all week!! Paying for it today with 1KG increase on the scale this morning!!! No matter…back into being mindful today and after a big increase like that I’m sure it will drop significantly tomorrow. Thanks @Imenfrey and @chumi for the advice on water intake…I’ll try for an increase on that for sure but good to know my cups of tea are OK as well. Going AF is one thing but I cannot go TF (tea free) even on FD. Congrats @daffodil2010 you are doing so well. Hope your glass was kept full last night! Thank @at …love the support on this forum. Have a great day everyone.

    Day 5 Sunshine Coast Qld Australia: Definitely an NFD

    Having guests for dinner tonight. Still haven’t decided on a starter, but will cook a “pot roast chook” which is delicious and can be prepared long enough in advance to let me go to singing this afternoon. Will do a sticky date pudding with caramel sauce for dessert. The latter is naughty but yummy and winter food. It’s not all about me 🤣🤣

    @krisnia, the air pollution sounds horrendous. Stay well.

    @coda, thanks very much for the medal, although I feel it was undeserved. I was MIA so often. It is a lovely gesture.

    @bert1802, in our part of the world, a busybody is someone who pokes their nose into everybody else’s business 😉 My husband has always been an activity seeker, although this has eased off a bit as we have aged. Maybe that is why I am the opposite. Have to have the yin and yang, the two side to the same coin.

    @flourbaby, I’m with you on the hunger dragon. And tonight I may well bring out the sugar troll. I will endeavour not to go over the top.

    Happy 5:2ing everyone.

    turns out i had strep throat! it wasn’t the diet at all! belly pain and headache will be gone soon!

    Day 5 (Saturday) NFD/Melbourne Australia

    Still Day 4 SW WA USA – FD

    FD going pretty well. Saved most of my calories for the evening meal. Heading to a potluck at our church’s family campout. I’m taking a cauliflower salad (like a potato salad).

    @mjmj – I looked you up on the spreadsheet and see you’re from Vancouver Canada. Yes, for you it is still Day 4. That’s why on the 1st post of the day at least, we’re encouraged to include our geographic location. For us on North America’s west coast, we’re on the last part of Day 4. Folks on the forum in Australia have started their Day 5. When everyone puts the calendar day along with location, you can start figuring what’s going on in different parts of our globe. It’s a very international forum.

    Praying for British Columbia in particular with all the fires, evacuations…air quality affected as far south as Washington & Oregon.

    @utahcougar – wow, glad they discovered the strep infection! Good to hear you’re on the mend!

    Day 4, USA, Missouri Ozarks, NFD

    Quick check in as we are having company soon. Spent the day out with friends, ate at Burger King (had veggie burger, onion rings and Diet Dr. Pepper) ate an egg salad sandwich on toast and sliced cucumbers for dinner.

    Missed my planks too much, will keep doing them but only for a minute at a time (which seems so easy once the three minute had been mastered).

    Will catch up on posts tomorrow – grandson/granddaughter in law and two great granddaughters are stopping by ! Ages 4 years and 4 months – both adorable, of course.

    To your health, all.

    thanks for the well wishes!! i’m glad it wasn’t the fasting that gave me that belly ache. hopeful for the next fast day going well.

    Day 5 FD Sydney Australia

    Day 5 | Sydney Australia | NFD

    Happy birthday for yesterday, Mogaman. 💐💐🎂🎶

    Day 5 UK NFD

    Ended up with an accidental extra fast day yesterday as didn’t get a chance to eat until 5pm and then wasn’t particularly hungry so just had my fast day staple of mashed beans with veg. So I kept the big loss from the previous day. BMI 24.4.

    Day 5 North Wales NFD.

    Day 5 Newcastle UK NFD.
    Out for a few drinks and a curry on the youngest son’s stag do tonight. Not going to worry about the calories until the Sunday lol. I’m still eating too much on my non fasting days between 6pm and 9pm got to get a grip on this somehow 😭.
    Off to read how everyone got on yesterday have a great weekend everybody.

    Day 5 Cornwall uk. CD

    quite a week with grandchildren who wouldn’t sleep in the tent, they had great time chattering and laughing, so good to hear. but al we adults were shattered last night! Controlled day yesterday went well and I resisted the alcohol and cheese and biscuits last night!

    Scales showed into the 10st bracket, just! Lost 2.2lbs, 1kg last week, which is great.

    Great posts, no time to answer as got a child wanting to play a game!!

    onwards and down!!!

    Day 5, Wales, NFD

    Hope you all have a happy and healthy weekend.

    Day 5, Northumberland UK, NFD

    Nice controlled day yesterday, had lovely breakfast out with the kids, then a huge salad for lunch and skipped an evening meal, which is unusual for me, but worked. Managed not to give into various temptations later on as I really wasn’t at all hungry. Weather has turned for the moment. Typical early August rain lol. British summertime at it’s usual games. They say we brits talk about the weather a lot, and I think it’s probably because it’s rarely predicatable. If it wasn’t so changeable it would make for far less conversation. My weight now seems to be fairly stable, so just need to do something about the toning (plank challenge included in that) and get a proper moisturising routine to try and help the baggy skin.

    Hello day 5 co down ni nfd
    Had a lovely meal out with OH last night and one thorghly enjoyed G & T.
    Taking Dad out to lunch and a drive to Armagh. Enjoy the weekend everyone

    Day 5, Emden Germany, NFD

    Days 5 & 6, Newcastle UK, NFD

    Thanks for kind comments re my Dad. We carry on the work of getting his home sorted out today. So much furniture is going to have to go, sadly.

    I ate just the one meal yesterday, early evening, but I think it was nearer 1000 cals, so can’t claim a FD. However, 3 hours of dancing last night will have taken care of the excess.

    Got visitors tomorrow, and lots to do before they arrive, so will check in again Monday.

    Have a great weekend.
